Due to a horrible mix up, Jonathan Teatime has been sent to Dracula’s Castle rather than Jonathan Harker. What follows is a mailing list service that chronicles Teatime’s attempts to slay Dracula by slowly erasing all evidence of vampire lore. People not believing in Dracula doesn’t effect him in any meaningful way, but the sudden lack of respect and appropriate fear from the peasantry does make him very upset.

Something, something Carpe Jugulum is the modern update for dracula we deserve...

I really love the discworld witches novels. This one is no exception. Sadly i also have dracula daily brainrot and so the cross contamination can begin...

here is the thing. in carpe jugulum there is a throwaway line from the main villain how he and his wife have killed the harkers during their honeymoon. first i was sad for jonathan. another au where he doesn't live. but than it got me thinking. the villains in carpe jugulum are villains because they see people as live stock. they are abusers.

vampires in discworld do not have to drink blood. they have a choice. as granny weatherwax says "you do not crave blood, you crave power over others." and that is what makes dracula such a scary and effective villain. he likes torturing people. he enjoys having power over people. Terry pratchett saw all the romantic dracula takes and really said: nope he is an abuser and abusers deserve a shovel ax to the face

Idk. Sometimes it just feels like, with fictional stories, there are three points on a triangle like 1. I love it, 2. it loves me back, and 3. other people don't almost universally think it sucks (usually because of the same things that prove it loves me back), and most of the time I only get two. It's a very special and rare story that all three are true of, and I Do incorporate it into my personality forever when I find it.

Fictional foods I would like to much on

the raspberry cordial from Anne of Green Gables. I don’t know what cordial is, but it sounds yummy.

Chicken paprika from Dracula. There’s got to be a reason Jonathon tried to get ahold of the recipe.

Cider from Discworld. Discworld isn’t exactly known for containing good food, but something tells me that Disc made cider would hit different.
