Day 20 Prompt: "This better be good."
Summary: When Jack ropes Daniel into eavesdropping on the telephone ladies' breakroom, they both might hear a lot more than they'd bargained for.
Word Count: 2,387
Category: Fluff, Humor
Putting work into an AI program without permission is illegal. You do not have my permission. Do not do it.
Daniel's POV
I sighed as I shuffled the papers in my hands, mentally running through the million things I had to do today. Peggy, Jack, and I had managed to stop Leviathan from leveling New York City and destroying Howard Stark, but that didn't mean the last six months since then had been any more relaxed. If anything, it had gotten busier than ever before.
There had even been talk of opening another branch of the agency in LA, which was a whole other insane possibility fluttering around in my mind. It was enough to distract me to the point that I didn't notice Thompson, half-hidden by the entryway to the agency, until I ran into him.
"Thompson? What the hell are you-?"
"Sh!"
He raised his finger to his lips and glared at me. I glared back.
"Why are you-"
"Sousa! Shut up and listen," he hissed, jerking his head towards a grate in the wall. I frowned and made a demanding "what?" gesture, but he just nodded towards the grate again. I sighed, so long-suffering it wasn't even funny, but shuffled closer.
"This better be good," I grumbled. Jack just waved his hand at me.
Through the grate, I could hear voices talking and giggling loudly. It sounded like all the ladies who sat outside the entrance to the agency, guarding the door and keeping up the front that this was a phone company, talking together like they were in the break room. I paused, curious enough to entertain Thompson's nonsense for another ten seconds.
"-saying is, there's a definite ranking of all the guys in this office. And yours ain't it."
The girls dissolved into another fit of giggles, and I scowled. I grabbed Thompson's arm and yanked him away from the grate, out of earshot.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" I demanded, keeping my voice low just in case. "You're eavesdropping on coworkers in their breakroom? Instead of working? You're the Chief!"
"I don't know if you caught it, Sousa, but they're talking about us. Specifically which one of us they'd most want to date. I'd call that research and intelligence work for future opportunities."
Jack gave me a smirk as he drifted back towards the vent. I scowled and followed to drag him away and make him do his damned job, but froze when I heard the ladies welcoming our newest addition to the agency, the second female agent in SSR history. She'd been here a little over five months, had become instant best friends with Peggy Carter, and had me head over heels within a week of knowing her.
And apparently she'd just walked into the breakroom.
Jack gave me a knowing smirk and raised an eyebrow, and I glared right back. But I couldn't quite manage to drag myself away either, no matter how much my brain told me I should.
****************
Y/N's POV
"You came at the perfect time!"
I pulled a snack out of the fridge and looked suspiciously at Mary, one of the switch operators who worked outside the SSR. In the short time I'd been here, I'd gotten to know her and Rose pretty well, since they mostly alternated shifts for our main door guard. Rose and I had quickly bonded over our mutual feminism and desire for independence; Mary and I had bonded through being troublemakers, and I had a feeling I was about to see some more of that.
"Why?" I asked, drifting halfway to the door now that I had secured my snack. Mary smiled.
"We were just talking about the boys in the office. We have a few different opinions about who would make the best boyfriends and husbands, and since you know them all so well... I mean, I can't think of anyone else with a better reason to chime in."
I scoffed. "Nice try Mary, but no way am I engaging in this conversation. See you all later!"
The rest of the women in the room booed playfully, but I didn't turn around as I reached the door. Mary, however, knew me well enough to figure out how to stop me in my tracks.
"Well, I guess that means Jack Thompson is the definitive winner!"
I narrowed my eyes and stared at the door in front of me, hand on the half-turned doorknob. I'd come so close to avoiding this nonsense, and it still wasn't too late for me to take the exit. I scowled and scrunched my nose, then turned around to squint at all my coworkers looking back at me.
"Be completely honest, I'll be able to tell if you're lying," I started, still only half-turned away from the door. "How many of you would put Jack Thompson at the top of your 'SSR's Most Eligible Bachelor' list?"
A few hands shot into the air, followed by a few more tentative hands that must've heard the disgust in my tone. All in all, about half the room had their hands up for him. I sighed, long and heavy.
"And the other runners up were...?"
A few people called out names of other men in the office, most of whom were barely better (or definitely worse) than Jack. I looked up at the ceiling and shook my head.
"You all have terrible taste in men."
Half the room, Mary included, started laughing, and the other half looked offended. I shook my head and turned to leave again, but Mary stopped me again before I could go.
"Who would you choose then, if not Thompson? You can't criticize our taste without giving us some insight into your process."
Her grin stretched across her entire face as she stared at me, waiting for me to take the bait. Her hand had been the first in the air for Thompson, but I could tell she genuinely wanted to debate me more than she wanted to defend him.
I sighed.
"Fine. But I'm going to make this quick and then I'm gonna go do my job, because I have a ton of stuff to do today," I said, finally stepping away from the door to stand in the middle of the room. Everyone stared at me, leaning forward in their seats a little, Mary most of all. "...I can't believe I'm about to engage in this."
Mary scoffed and I rolled my eyes, but then took a deep breath and dove in. What the hell, right?
"Okay, first of all, let me clarify: I can understand, from a surface level, why you might pick Thompson. He's handsome, and if you didn't spend much time with him, I can see why you'd think he might make a good partner. Honestly, in the five months I've known him, I've even seen a few glimmers of hope that there might be a heart of gold underneath all that arrogance, posturing, and chauvinism. However. In terms of best guy in the office to have as a partner? He does not even come close to touching Daniel Sousa."
A few people raised their eyebrows, half leaning forward and half leaning back and crossing their arms. I ignored them all (especially Mary, who beamed at me), and continued.
"Listen. Sousa is... kind of ridiculously attractive. He's handsome, with the warmest brown eyes you've ever seen in your entire life... and he's super strong. I've seen him one-handed lift a bunch of different things the other agents struggled with using their whole bodies. He looks incredible in a sweater vest, to say nothing of suits and non-sweater vest clothes."
I saw considering nods around the room as people took in my words. I paused and took a deep breath, then continued.
"More than all of that, though... Daniel is kind. He's strong in his morals and his character, not just physically. He's got a great sense of humor, and his jokes don't rest on being a mean, close-minded jackass. And, above anything else, he respects me. He respects Peggy. He treats us as equals. I don't know about you guys, but... that means everything to me. And finding a man who's kind, smart, strong, handsome, and will treat me as an equal partner? Come on. Daniel's got it all."
I hadn't been paying a lot of attention to the expressions of everyone else around the room while I was talking, but now I focused back in to see the majority looking thoughtful. I cleared my throat, suddenly feeling incredibly self-conscious, and started backing towards the door.
"Uh, anyway... long way of saying I'd put Daniel at the top of my list."
Mary grinned at me as I continued heading for the door, then pushed out of her chair and called out to the whole room.
"Hear that? Sousa's off limits, these two are going to be dating in the next month if we have anything to say about it."
"MARY!"
****************
Daniel's POV
Jack and I stood in the hallway, stunned into silence as we stared into space. My brain had been telling me to stop listening a while ago, but I'd been shocked enough that my body had refused to listen. Now, my heart was telling me I was on the verge of a cardiac arrest.
"You go get him, girl!" Mary's voice continued through the vents. Then, with determination and glee dripping from her words, "I'm staying after Thompson. I'm gonna fix him."
I heard some light-hearted laughter, and then a door shutting. In a few seconds, the girl who'd just poured her heart out to me without realizing it would be coming into the office, a few feet from Jack and I's stupid hiding place.
"You look like you're about to puke," said Jack, a beaming grin on his face. I scowled.
"Why don't you? You just got called a couple pretty bad things."
"What? Like 'attractive'? All I was hearing were positives." He grinned at me, then sobered slightly before slapping me on the shoulder and taking a few steps away. "Don't psych yourself out on this one though, Sousa. She's a catch, and she's clearly in love with you. If you don't take a shot, I might have to."
I scoffed and shook my head. I knew Jack didn't really mean that; it was his own, terrible way of trying to be supportive.
I sighed and tried to brace myself as I walked over to the entrance to the SSR. Thompson was wrong about many, many, many things, but he was right about this: I needed to take my shot.
****************
Y/N's POV
"Holy- Daniel!" I nearly dropped the snack I'd taken a detour to retrieve as I cleared the SSR doors and came face to face with Daniel, especially since I'd just poured my heart out about him to a bunch of our coworkers. "You scared the hell out of me!"
"Uh... sorry," he said, shifting his weight around a little and running a hand through his hair. He looked almost as comfortable as I felt.
"Is, uh, is everything okay?"
"Yeah. Well, sort of. I just..." He cleared his throat, then jerked his eyes away from the floor and the wall to meet mine. "I need to tell you something, and then I need to ask you something."
"...Okay?"
"First, I... I heard what you said in the breakroom. About me. And about Jack, which was fun too, but... It feels important that you know I heard the stuff you said about me."
My heart stopped in my chest, and I blinked a few times as black spots danced at the very edges of my vision. I was going to kill Mary.
"Uh..."
"Before you say anything, I'm sorry," he said, holding up a hand. "I didn't mean to eavesdrop, I just... I let Thompson suck me into something I should've known better about. I'm sorry."
"It's fine, Daniel," I said, a little breathless as my legs finally started working to move me past him. I could not deal with this a second longer. "Don't worry about it, I'll... I have to go-"
"Wait!" he cried. He put one hand on my arm to stop me, then quickly dropped it when I turned back to look at him. I watched him take a deep breath, my heart hammering a thousand times even though it only took a few seconds, then he continued. "Look, I know I might've lost a few points in your book for the eavesdropping, which is fair, but... I'd be lying if I said I wasn't head over heels for you too. Have been since the first few days you got to the agency. You're smart and strong and funny and... God, listen to me."
He looked down and shook his head, and I noticed a slight blush rising up his neck and cheeks. Slowly, my heart dropped back to a normal rhythm, and I started to smile.
"Okay, what I'm trying to say is... I feel the same way about you that you do about me," he said, finally looking up at me again. "And if you'd still be interested... I'd love to take you out to dinner sometime."
I beamed at him, unable to stop the smile completely overtaking my face. I looked down, and when I looked up again, Daniel's stare was still on me, a smile hopefully flickering in and out of place.
"Daniel, I'd love that," I finally said.
"You would?"
"Yeah. I really, really like you, eavesdropping and all."
He huffed a laugh, the shaky smile turning into full-on beaming.
"Great! How's tomorrow night sound?"
"Sounds perfect."
"Good. I'll pick you up at eight." He started to back away, so both of us could get to the mountain of work we had to tackle at some point today, then stopped. "If that works for you, that is?"
I smiled. "That absolutely works for me."
"Alright, great! I'll see you then. And, uh, around the office, I guess."
"I'll see you around the office."
We shared another set of dorky, ridiculous smiles as we backed away from each other, going to do our separate tasks for at least part of the day. Thank God Thompson wasn't around to see either of us.
At some point, he and the rest of our coworkers would probably catch on to the two of us dating, unless the first date somehow went so horribly there wasn't a second. But I'd meant every word I'd said to the rest of our coworkers about Daniel. And if a little eavesdropping had led to him asking me out, I couldn't bring myself to be too upset about any of it.

hi rita, congratulations again!! can i request "if i asked you to stay, would you?" with daniel sousa??
Aww, thank you so much, Tori!! And of course, I absoutley adore Daniel - I can't believe I haven't written for him in the past! 💕 (the ending isn't the best lol, but I hope you enjoy!)
oOoOo
It had been naïve of you to believe that a long distance relationship wouldn't tug at the strings of your heart until they nearly unraveled at your feet. When Daniel had been offered the position as Chief at the SSR's newest agency across the country, you knew he couldn't turn it down. Just like he knew you had to stay behind for your own career.
But the two of you made it work. Long-distanced calls squeezed into your busy schedules, weekly letters exchanged, and visits to one another whenever possible. This time around, you had made the journey to sunny Los Angeles, sprinting to be in Daniel's arms, the moment you saw him waiting at the airport.
"I missed you so much." you mumbled into his chest, taking in the weight of his arms around you and the scent of his cologne that grounded you.
"Not as much as I missed you." Daniel said, pressing a kiss to the side of your head as he led you out towards his car.
The week that passed was an absolute dream as you took in the sights and enjoyed spending time with Daniel. And even the few times Daniel was called away for work, you kept busy with Jarvis, Ana, and even Howard. Unfortunately, all good things had to end and the same energy you had at the beginning of the week was not with you when Daniel accompanied you to the airport for your flight home.
There was a sad silence, neither one of you were willing to burst, not wanting to admit that you would be separated once again for an indefinite period of time. As you sat on a bench nearby your gate, your hand remained firmly grasped in Daniel's, like an anchor tying you to reality.
Boarding was announced for your flight, and despite the heavy weight in your chest, you knew you had to go. Willing yourself to stand, you pulled Daniel with you as you looked into his beautiful, brown eyes one last time.
"I guess this is it for now." you whispered, eyes glazing over with tears.
A few escaped down your cheek as Daniel reached forward to softly brush them away with the pad of his thumb. "Yeah, I guess it is, sweetheart." he echoed. "I love you." he offered, not sure what else he could give in that moment.
"I love you too." you breathed out, leaning in to savor the feel of his lips against yours one last time. Pulling away, you steeled your nerves, nodding to yourself and trying to convince yourself to leave. "Goodbye, Daniel." you sighed, only letting his hand go when the distance between the two of you was too great.
Your footsteps echoed in Daniel's mind as he watched you walk away to join the line of other passengers waiting to bored. It felt like you were taking his heart with you, and Daniel didn't know how to handle it. Suddenly, as though he had been struck my lightning, Daniel hurried to be next to you once more.
"y/n!" he called out, reaching for your hand as soon as you were in his reach. "Don't go."
Confused, you shook your head. "What are you talking about, Daniel?"
"If I asked you to stay, would you?" His response shocked you into silence, which Daniel took for hesitation, or ever rejection, so he hurried to continue. "I-I know we decided on long distance because of our careers, but I can't be away from you any longer. And maybe we could see if you could be transferred or out here, o-or I'll move back to New York. I don't care, all I want is to be with you." he confessed, laying his heart on the line.
Wordlessly, you stepped forward, with the biggest smile on your face, and threw your arms around Daniel's neck. "Of course I'll stay." you promised with a 'Hollywood ending kiss' to mark the start of your future with Daniel.

I will always be amazed when writers manage to make a convincing love story between two characters in a short amount of time. Long live Daisy Sousa and VegasPete.

I finished watching Agent Carter recently and since that ending I can only think about how I think the first episode of season 3 woulda gone….
Would anyone be interested if I wrote it?
(I’m going to whether people want it or not, it will just depend if I post it or not 😂)

imagine if agent Carter got a season three and wasn't directed by cowards:
episode one could open up with one of their signature music montages they were so good at
except it's like a totally 1950s nuclear family morning routine involving Peggy and Sousa to paper moon by dion and the belmonts
and the lighting is all yellows and greens and reds and pinks and it's super colorized and bright and cheery
and then it plot twists to her and Angie secretly being together and Peggy doing her agent business
and the lighting is all blues and pinks and purples and greys but it's still so smoothly cut and happy
and Sousa knows too but he doesn't care bc they’re not in a real marriage and it's all tongue and cheek

I am one of the few people (that I see, at least) who is fairly happy with Steve's ending. I actually do genuinely like it. I just don't like how they went about it. I don't like how they broke their own rules, apparently rewrote the past and screwed up all the careful explanations we were given and the established history we already knew.
I just wish they had simply said that Steve created an alternative timeline where he and Peggy could be together. Then they wouldn't have messed up their own rules and made everything so confusing the way they did.
That said, I'm just gonna pretend like Agent Carter is an alternative universe because I can.

Agents of Shield as ✨DnD Archetypes✨
~Daisy~
Tumblr media
Daisy! my baby love girl boss queen… is a sorcerer! She’s smart, she’s fun, she has magic powers from ancient dna in her blood! She’s deeply connected to the natural environment, and is friends with the smallest atoms. She’s cool and everyone knows it.
~Jemma~
Tumblr media
Look at her. Look. At. Her. She is smol, she is lovely, she will fuck you up if needed! My girl is a wizard. Her strength may be a solid 10, but she’s got a +10 to all intelligence rolls. She has three PhDs in beating her enemy’s ass. Just imagine her in sparkly robes. Or cool jeans and a jean jacket. Jemma definitely cosplayed as Adaine at some point.
~Fitz~
Tumblr media
Our resident nerd is an artificer. Obviously. I feel that I don’t even need to explain this but just in case… he’s a magic engineer. He likes tinkering. Has definitely accidently blown up multiple labs playing with magical items. Duh.
~Melinda~
Tumblr media
ROGUE. Melinda May is a rogue. You think you can hear her coming? No. She has sneak attack. She has a 20 stealth and proficiency. My bae sees all. She is Mom, and we all know that nothing gets past Mama May.
~Phil~
Tumblr media
This may be a hot take. But. Coulson is a bard! His first instinct is to use charisma before drawing weapons. He may not have many fans (in universe), but you have to admit that people tend to love him. He loves music, he loves jokes, and most of the time he’s more focused on helping out his team than playing the hero. He would be such a good bard!!
~Bobbi~
Tumblr media
My lovely Bobbi. Bobbi Morse is a fighter. In every sense of the word. She’s strong outwardly and emotionally; she’s loyal, almost to a fault. She has strong ethos and sticks to her guns. Bobbi watches everyone’s back always, because she loves them. She is the very best fighter there is.
~Hunter~
Tumblr media
I wrestled with calling him the clown and calling it a day, however…! I have made the executive decision that Hunter is a ranger. He is great at keeping his distance (derogatory) but c’mon, you can’t stay mad at him. He lays low and moves quickly. I also think it’s funny how caring he is and charismatic he tries to be and literally his strongest trait is dodging all the quips and pillows that are thrown at him. Dex baby! Hunter is (fittingly) a ranger!
~Daniel~
Tumblr media
Daniel… my sweet Daniel. Mr. Sousa here is, I firmly believe, also a ranger. Idk. I’m between ranger or paladin, because I feel like yeah sure he’s the boy scout survival guy but at the same time I think he’s the stable, healer type. He has strong morals (square lol) and I feel like that translate well into both ranger and paladin :)
Should I make a part II? ☺️

The Ugliest Tie I've Ever Seen
Daniel Sousa x Reader
Tumblr media
Masterlist - Join My Taglist!
Written for Fictober 2023!
Fandom: Marvel
Day 27 Prompt: "I don't know if they will accept this."
Summary: Y/N has finally been transferred to LA, joining their boyfriend Daniel Sousa to help with a case. Unfortunately, he's picked up some new fashion in LA.
Word Count: 1,311
Category: Fluff, Humor
A/N: This is basically a request @everyhazyday sent me for Daniel Sousa Appreciation Week before I dropped out of the event and disappeared for a couple months lol. Hope you enjoy!!
Putting work into an AI program without permission is illegal. You do not have my permission. Do not do it.
I stepped out of the car to be greeted by the warm, sunny weather of Southern California, a smile on my face. This beat the New York winter any day of the week.
After months of waiting to move out to LA, the SSR here had finally caught a case big enough to warrant it. I'd left New York behind with hugs for Jack and Peggy to join my boyfriend, Daniel Sousa, on the other side of the country. We'd been making long distance work since he'd been appointed the new Chief, but I couldn't wait to see him again in person.
I walked through the doors of the Auerbach Theatrical Agency to find Rose at a large desk, fake smiling as two identical-looking girls tap danced in the middle of the room. As soon as she saw me, Rose stood and walked around the desk, hands clasped and a borderline grimace replacing her smile.
"I'm sorry, but I don't think your act is quite what we're looking for. Thank you, have a nice day."
The girls both scowled and huffed, but Rose was immovable. The minute they were both out the front door she sighed, shoulders relaxing, and came over to give me a hug.
"Hey, Rose. That looked more fun than the telephone company bit," I teased. She huffed, but when she pulled back from the hug, she had a smile on her face.
"I have actually gotten to see some good acts, once in a while," she said. "And the weather here is certainly nicer than anything in New York."
"No kidding."
"Come on, I'll show you the way up. I'm sure you're dying to see the Chief."
She shot me a look over her shoulder, and I just smiled. She was right, I was dying to see Daniel. It would take just about everything in me not to tackle him in a hug and kiss him on sight, but I'd have to find a way to manage it since we were in the middle of the office.
Rose took me down a back hallway filled with filing cabinets, pushing one back to reveal a secret entrance. I gave her a wave and promised to check in later, then headed upstairs.
The bullpen was surprisingly empty, with just a few agents working at their desks. Directly across from the stairs, I could see Daniel's office with the door open, a crowd of people inside. Even from here, with his back to me, I caught sight of Daniel in the middle of the huddle by his desk.
I walked over, a smile on my face. I couldn't wait to see the look on Daniel's face when he realized I was finally here.
As I got closer, I got within hearing range of the conversation. I could see Daniel's shoulders tensed underneath his gray suit jacket, and it became a little harder to forget that I was here mostly because he'd caught a massive case.
One of the agents standing directly in front of Daniel was speaking when I walked through the door of the office, coming to a stop just behind my boyfriend.
"...been a pain in our side every step of the way. I don't know if they will accept this."
"They're gonna have to," said Daniel. "They have no argument for keeping us out of this case, not since their evidence started literally hovering around the office. It's our jurisdiction."
"Don't you worry, we'll get 'em in line," I said, hands on my hips. "The cavalry's officially here."
Daniel whipped around, eyes wide at the sound of my voice. A smile broke out on his face as soon as he saw me, but my attention snapped to his outfit instead.
I loved Daniel, more than anything or anyone in the world. That would never change, even if he walked around wearing a literal burlap sack. But this was going to take some getting used to.
The gray suit jacket had fooled me into thinking he'd levelled up his wardrobe since leaving New York and the sweater vests behind. But underneath that suit jacket was a dayglow flamingo button up shirt, and the ugliest tie I'd ever seen in my life.
I froze like a deer in headlights, unable to do anything other than stare at that outfit. Daniel looked at me curiously, then turned to the other agents in the room.
"Can we get a minute?" he asked, addressing the other agents. "Everybody take five, we'll get back together in a few minutes."
The agents nodded, mumbling amongst each other as they headed out of the office. I heard one of them shut the door behind us, and then Daniel shuffled a little closer to me, looking concerned.
"Hey. Are you okay?"
"Yeah, sorry, I just need a second. My eyes are burning."
He furrowed his brow, glanced down to follow my gaze to his outfit. He looked back at me with outrage.
"What? Come on! It's not that bad, is it?"
"Together, as one outfit? YES."
Daniel scoffed, throwing his head back and looping an arm around my waist. He pulled me in, leaning in so we were basically nose to nose, a smile spread across his face.
"I missed you," he said. I smiled.
"I missed you too. No way in hell Thompson's ever getting me back to New York."
Daniel laughed, then leaned in and kissed me. We lingered for a few long moments, but since we were still in the office, we didn't let ourselves get too carried away.
"I cannot tell you how happy I am to have you here," Daniel muttered, leaning his forehead to rest against mine. "Seriously, I think I just lost a few deeply entrenched stress lines."
"Even with the fashion critiquing?"
"Yeah, even with that."
He gave me one last peck, then pulled all the way away. He picked up a massive case file and moved to hand it to me, but he hesitated at the last second.
"You really don't think this look is working for me?"
"Oh, babe. You could wear a clown costume and still be handsome to me. But that shirt and especially that tie, together? It's a serious downgrade from the sweater vests."
"From the sweater vests?"
"Yeah. You looked like a cute nerd in the sweater vests. You look like you got dressed in the dark with this."
Daniel snorted. "Okay, great. Thanks for the honesty at least."
"Always. But hey, don't get so down on yourself. The shirt's kind of fun, once you get past the... color of it."
"Really. Great."
"The tie has to go though."
I reached out to take the tie, and Daniel moved back out of my reach. I grinned, moving towards him again, and he managed to move behind his desk, a laugh bubbling out as he went.
"Gimme the tie, Daniel."
"You stay away, this tie's going on the wall. Hall of fame for making the love of my life look at me like I'd grown a second head after not seeing me in person for months."
"That's fine, the wall works. As long as it's not on you."
Daniel laughed, and it was infectious as I finally managed to catch him behind his desk. He gave in, and I wasted no time loosening the tie and pulling it over his head. He raised his eyebrows and fixed me with a look once I had it in my hands, and he smiled at me.
"You satisfied now."
"Yeah, actually, thanks."
I beamed at him and he rolled his eyes, but he was smiling too. I could see the other agents hovering outside the door, so I knew we had to get back to actual work, but I didn't really mind too much. Now that I was with Daniel again, working side by side, we could take on any case together. Ugly ties and all.

Daniel Sousa/Daisy Johnson Masterlist
all we do is drive. (ao3) - romantashas M, 30k
Summary: Daisy has missed the open road. She used to always love taking her van out and just driving. Los Angeles was where she liked to stick around, but she would always go on these road trips just because she wanted to explore somewhere new.
She's always liked running away from things.
It was different, having someone with her.
-
In which Daisy Johnson helps Daniel Sousa explore the modern world by taking him on a cross-country road trip in a van. Post-Finale road trip AU with MCU tie-ins.
A Miracle Starts With a Beat of a Heart (ao3) - samanthaswishes T, 202k
Summary: The team's trip to space and the almost end of the world changed their lives in more ways than they could count. However, no one expected the change that was going to happen in Daisy's life. What if Kasius had planned on using Daisy to breed more inhumans? The team comes together to help her while Daisy finds a new kind of love. One she never could have imagined happening, but turned out to be a miracle.
Takes place from post-season 5/pre-season 6 to post-series finale.
A Week After Death (ao3) - manoutoftimeandquake T, 15k
Summary: An explosion in an alien junkyard sends Daisy, Sousa and Kora back in time to meet some people from Sousa's past.
Edge of Tonight (ao3) - Letmebecomeataboo G, 38k
Summary:  1946, New York City
Daniel Sousa is an agent, working for the SSR in New York. When the search for wanted fugitive Howard Stark comes to a stand still, a new agent named Daisy Johnson is sent from the Los Angeles office to help. Now, on top of trying to figure out where Stark is, Daniel suddenly has to fight with his feelings for the mysterious and beautiful new agent.
Field Test (ao3) - Luckyfishy E, 7k
Summary: After 7X09 in the Lighthouse but before all hell breaks loose so before the events of 7x10. Daisy and Sousa get in a workout but also work each other up ... leading to the inevitable smutty goodness.
One Year Later (ao3) - marvelsquake T, 64k
Summary: Set right after the series finale's 'one year later' part where Daisy stares into space with Sousa and Kora.
Inspired by the 'anatomy analysis' bit Jemma says to Daisy.
Orchestrating History (ao3) - TheSovereigntyofReality G, 11k
Summary: In 1955, Daniel Sousa allegedly died at HYDRA's hands and became the first fallen S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent.
In truth, Coulson's team saved him and faked his death.
Due to S.H.I.E.L.D.'s policy with enhanced, they may come to regret that decision.
Reclaim (ao3) - StillTryingToWrite T, 232k
Summary: It is an instinctual reaction, at this point, wanting them to like her, to want her. It is the same feeling she used to get when she was younger, before she knew better. So if she shows the parts of herself she thinks they will like and keeps the rest buried, it is just easier for everyone that way. But she tries not to think about any of this yet. For now, she just gazes out the window, and enjoys the view, looking out at her future adventures.
-Daisy’s story following the course of the entire series. A collection of missing scenes during and between episodes, flashbacks to pre-series, and Daisy’s perspective on canon events.
religion's in your lips, the altar is my hips (ao3) - mssimmonsfitz E, 17k
Summary: Daisy and Daniel decide to...experiment.
stars that have people names (ao3) - rianparker (orphan_account) G, 1k
Summary: Stargazing isn't normally Daisy's idea of a fun date night, but there's no doubt in Daniel's mind she'll love it tonight.
Stay (ao3) - SteeleHoltingOn E, 150k
Summary: Not everyone knew she could feel heartbeats. Sousa’s sped up every time he looked her way.
His reaction wasn’t particularly unusual, and Daisy was an expert at fending off unwanted advances. But that was just it: Sousa hadn’t actually made any advances, and if he did, Daisy wasn’t sure she’d ward them off.
Her heartbeat, it seemed, liked to match tempo with his.
want you (to unravel me) (ao3) - IzzieBee M, 21k
Summary: Daisy never wanted to be rescued, by anyone. She never wanted to owe someone that debt, but especially not to a handsome WWII Vet, traveling through time. Daniel, who was brave and decent, and kind of funny, and who she could easily depend on, which was way too dangerous to consider.
OR
Daisy really wasn't ready for Daniel Sousa.
Where I Need To Be (ao3) - JennaGreen T, 180k
Summary: This is set from Episode 7x03 onwards and follows the story of Daisy Johnson and Daniel Sousa, and how their relationship has been developing throughout this amazing season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.! This story mostly follows canon but is interspersed with missing moments between Daisy and Sousa that I imagine could have happened off-screen.
Your Heartbeat On The Highline(Once In Twenty Lifetimes) (ao3) - doctorsimmonswilson T, 40k
Summary: He’s a man out of time and she’s an orphaned superhero. They’ve just got to figure out what to do next, after the mission is over.
[aka Daisy and Daniel’s story post finale]
you've got that power (over me). (ao3) - romantashas M, 71k
Summary: "It's you," Daniel whispers. He's in awe, looking at Quake. She steps back away from him. "Let me help you," he says, reaching out toward her injured arm slowly.
Daniel only gets a moment more to admire her glowing eyes and her purple hair before she turns and runs away, her hand slipping out of his.
-
In which the superheroes of the Marvelverse actually try to keep their identities a secret and Daniel Sousa is determined to figure out who is behind the mysterious Quake mask. Superhero AU with MCU tie-ins.

So, like, imagine if Milo and Sam had a great-grand-child.
That's Agent Daniel Sousa from Season 7 of AoS.

Top five Daniel Sousa scenes?
Oooh, good one!! In no particular order:
His very first scene
When he thinks Peggy's in serious danger, goes into his office, and smashes his crutch around from pure frustration
His and Daisy's talk during the time loop
The bit where he's keeping Daisy awake by telling her his story
His first scene in Agents of SHIELD, when Simmons is lying to him, and she's like, we think there may be an intruder, and he's all, nooooo... imagine that. Right under our very noses
Thanks for the ask!!!

What I got for the office party at the SSR (post endgame? Yeah.) In my agent Carter continuation DR
In this DR, I'm a scientist who worked with Howard during the war, helped Peggy and Jarvis clear his name, got very uh... close with a certain best friend of captain America, and now I develop tactical stuff for women, bake as a hobby, and now develop self-defense gear for women after seeing what happened to Ana and how defenseless a lot of women who don't work for the government and aren't agents or assassins are. And, yes, I came up with the LSD in the lipstick and the high heels that have blades in the heel, and I occasionally hang around with other characters.
Peggy: more covert mission lipstick (like imagine a lipstick that makes the person who forces themselves-i mean kisses you hallucinate, that would be so cool!) And captain America themed lingere (it's a gag gift and I might get punched but worth it)
Steve: anti-aging cream. A lot of people got him this. He wasn't amused.
Howard: lemonade. I...didn't know what else to get him
Ana Jarvis: Really nice fabric, a new sewing machine, and some custom patterns
Edwin Jarvis: a new tie
Daniel Sousa: running shoes. I regret nothing.
Steve (after the anti-aging cream) : A fondue kit (he was mildly amused)
Bucky: Lord of the Rings.
Dottie: Some serious therapy
Angie: Floral perfume and a bottle of schnapps.
Rose: a pie. Homemade.
The scientists: cookies. Homemade.
Jack Thompson: I laid a dildo on his grave because he was a dick
The howling commandos:
Dugan: bourbon
Pinkie: a red sock in his white laundry (his name is Pinkie Pinkerton, what do you expect?)
Junior: a plush yeti

September and October Fic Recs!
The end of my September/whole of October ended up being very very very busy so I decided to compress these two months into one! I didn’t get to read quite as much as I wanted to, but when I did have a moment for it, these fics served as much needed breaks from a pretty heavy workload. Check them out and enjoy!
None of these fics are mine! They’re recommendations of other people’s work I’ve read throughout the month(s). Recs are below the cut
Marvel
Sam Wilson
I’ve got time, I’ve got love by @rodrikstark
A really sweet fic with a very stressed out and anxious reader and our very own Captain America. Sam is so loving and caring in this fic and it was SUCH a good read.
Natasha Romanoff
Meet the Avengers by @ghostofskywalker
A sweet and fluffy Nat fic where she shows SERIOUS heart eyes for the reader! We loving seeing secret dating come to light, it’s always an adorable time
Daniel Sousa
Fighting for Us by @ghostofskywalker
A TRULY adorable fic with Daniel and reader, I absolutely LIVE for fics with confessions of feelings and (as usual with Tori) this one is SO well written!! Daniel is one of my faves too, which makes this an extra fun read.
Jack Thompson
By your side by @writeroutoftime
An ADORABLY fluffy fic of Jack and the reader finally finding a way to get married (with a little help from Peggy) despite the SSR throwing everything possible in their way. SO cute
Peggy Carter
The Agent Next Door by @ghostofskywalker
Straight up one of my favorite fics I’ve ever read. Fantastic energy and interactions between Peggy, Jack, and Daniel, and such an adorable flustered Peggy around her crush. Fantastic fic and a serious must-read
Harry Osborn
So Much It Hurts by @shaded-echoes
Technically more of a tasm!Peter Parker angst than a Harry Osborn x reader, although that is the relationship in the fic. Angst, but SO good and SO well written, omg. I’m not usually an angst person but I absolutely loved this fic. Really good story and a really talented writer
Star Wars
Obi-Wan Kenobi
So Close Yet So Far by @ghostofskywalker
The origin of my new favorite trope that I didn’t know existed before now. It’s childhood best friends but in the Jedi Order, which is a uniquely special thing to me. Literally so soft and omg, I love it so much
Anakin Skywalker
Heights by @degreeinsimping
Literally a freaking ADORABLE fic with Anakin taking care of a reader who’s got a crush on him when they’re scared of heights. So fluffy and cute and Anakin is written super well! Love him and this fic
Top Gun
No Specific Pairing
Squadron Disney Trip Headcanons by @mouseymagines
Funny, adorable, and super fitting headcanons of a full-squad Disney trip. Absolutely love to see fluffy headcanons like this. I just wanna see the squad hang out and have fun, yk? Also LOVE imagining going to Disney with them
DC
Johnathan Crane
Untitled by @madame-fear
A freaking ADORABLE fic involving a rescue of reader from a spider, one of my favorite tropes since it is very relatable to my own life lol. Such a cute and also really well written fic!
Harry Potter
Sirius Black
Hey Stranger by @robynlilyblack
I was literally squealing at how adorable this fic is!! Very cute relationship and interactions with Sirius and the reader and some FANTASTIC Marauders + Lily and Harry vibes. Screw canon I want this lol!

Keep My Hand in Yours by @harringtown
Some really sweet fluff for our boy Steve! Cuddling, Steve feeling loved and safe, mutual pining and a confession of love - what more could you ask for!
