Heart
Masterlist
"Here he is, Detectives." An employee said to me and Sam as she slides the man, Nate's, body from his compartment. Nate had stitches running along his chest, stomach, shoulders, and throat. "That’s a pretty nasty bite." I remarked. "Mm-hmm." The lady said in agreement.
"You know what bit him?" Sam asked her and she events her eyes. "I haven’t quite determined that just yet." She said.  "Come on, Doc. Off the record." I said to her. "Okay, way, way off the record...." she said to us. "Sure." We said.
"If I didn’t know better, I’d say the guy was attacked by a wolf. But unless I know that the zoo is missing one of their lobos, I’m going with pit bull." She said as she eyes us. "I like my job." She said and we chuckle. "Yeah, we hear you." Sam said then I hold up a finger.
"One more thing. This guy –- was his heart missing?" I asked her. "Yeah, how did you know that? I haven’t even finished my report." She said, looking at me. "Lucky guess." I said, shrugging.
"Over the past year, several women have gone missing. Dead bodies all washed up later in the bay, too deteriorated to draw firm conclusions." I explained to Dean as Sam and I get back into the car. "But no hearts?" Dean asked. "No hearts. They were all hookers working Hunter’s Point. Now, cops are trying to keep things under wrap, but they’re looking for a serial killer." Sam said.
"And the lunar cycle?" Dean asked. "Mm-hmm. Yeah, month after month, all the murders happen in the week leading up to the full moon." I said. "Which is this week, right?" Dean said. "Hence the lawyer." Sam said. "Awesome." Dean said, delighted.
"Dean, could you be a bigger geek about this?" I asked him, laughing. "I’m sorry, (y/n), but what about a human by day, a freak animal killing machine by moonlight don’t you understand? I mean, werewolves are badass. We haven’t seen one since we were kids." Dean said. "Okay, Sparky. And you know what? After we kill it, we can go to Disneyland." Sam said with sarcasm and I laugh at this.
"You know what the best part about it is? We already know how to bring these suckers down." Dean said as he holds up a silver bullet. "One of these bad boys right to the heart. So, what’s our next move?" He asked us. "Talk to the girl who found the body." I said.
"I don’t understand. I already gave my statement." The girl, Madison, said to us as we head into her apartment. "Right, well, we just need to verify a few things." Sam said and Madison and we enter her apartment to see a man sitting at the table.
"This is my neighbor, Glen. Glen, this is Detective…" Madison said and Dean picks up. "Landis. And Detective Dante and Detective Romero." He said as he pats me and Sam on the back. Glen, a bearded man wearing a Mission Church T-shirt, stands. "Well, I guess I’ll leave you to it." He said and he starts to leave. "Okay. Thanks for the casserole." She said to Glen.
"Oh, how thoughtful." Dean said. "Just call if you need anything." Glen said and we watch Glen leave. "He’s sweet. He came over to check on me. Have – have a seat." Madison said and we sit down at the kitchen table.
"You must be pretty shaken up. You were Nate Mulligan’s assistant, right?" Sam asked her. "For two years, yeah." She replied. "So, you knew all about him?" I asked her. "Probably knew more about him than he did. Nate was…" she stops and she smiles. "...he was nice."
"But?" Sam asked. "Nothing, really. I – He had a few scotches in him, and he'd started hitting on anyone in a five-mile radius. You know the type." She said while I noticed Dean was practically salivating over her. "Yeah. I do, actually." I said, annoyed and Dean's lecherous grin fades as he hears my tone, and he becomes serious.
"Did, uh, did he have any enemies?" Dean asked her as I roll my eyes. "What do you mean? It sure looked like an animal attack." Madison said. "No, yeah, we’re just covering all the bases. Anyone that might have had a beef with him – a former client, an ex?" Dean asked and Sam notices her thinking of somebody.
"What?" Sam asked her. "Well, this is embarrassing, but my ex-boyfriend, Kurt—" she said. "Kurt have a last name?" I asked him. "Mueller. After we broke up, he went kind of nuts. He’s…well, he’s kind of been stalking me. He got it in his head that something was going on between Nate and I. He showed up at my office." Madison said to us.
"What happened?" Sam asked her. "Kurt got into it with Nate, threw a punch before security grabbed him. I was lucky to keep my job." She replied. "When was the last time you saw Kurt?" Dean asked her. "A few nights ago. Actually, the night Nate died. We were all grabbing drinks at this bar, and Kurt showed up." She said.
"And?" Dean asked, curiously. "Nothing. It was...like he was watching me. Then he was gone. To tell you the truth…he scares me." She said to us, worried.
"We’ve had worse." Dean said to us as we walk out of her apartment and towards the car. "Yeah." Sam said. "What do you say we pay Kurt a visit?" Dean asked us and we load up in the car.
We get to Kurt's apartment and Dean picks the lock then we enter and look around. "Anything?" Sam asked as Dean closes the fridge in the kitchen. "No, nothing but leftovers and a six-pack." Dean said. "Check the freezer. Maybe there’s some human hearts behind the Haagen-Dazs or something." I said.
As Dean turns to the freezer, we hear a door open and close, followed by a crash outside. Dean steps out the sliding glass door onto the balcony. "Guys, come here!" He shouts and Sam and I join him. "Check it out." Dean said and we see on the wall of the building, claw marks sliding all the way down to the ground. "What the hell?" I said but then we hear a gunshot.
We race down the stairs and out into the street and go around to corner only to find a policeman’s body completely mauled. "I’ll call 911." Sam said as he picks up his phone while Dean bends down to examine the corpse.
"I’d say Kurt’s looking more and more like our Cujo." Dean said. "Dean, if he’s out here, we better check on Madison." I said to him and he nods.
Back at Madison's apartment, we knock on her front door just as I hear a door open behind us. "What’s going on?" A voice said and I turn to see that it was Glen. "Police business, Glen." Sam said as Madison answers the door.
"What is it?" She asked us and Sam glances at Glen. "Well, maybe we should talk privately." He said and Madison nods and let's us in.
In her kitchen, she pours us some coffee. "Has Kurt been here?" Sam asked her. "Not exactly." She replied. "What exactly does not exactly mean?" Dean asked her. "Well, he was outside last night. Just…looking. Just looking at me." She said and the boys and I exchange a look.
"Has he done something?" She asked. "We’re not really sure." I said to her. "It’s probably nothing, but…we just don’t wanna take any chances. In fact, one of us should probably stay here with you? Just in case he stops by. Where does he work?" Dean asked her. "He owns a body shop." She replied.
"You mind grabbing that address for us?" I asked her and she nods and leaves the room. "Thanks." I said then Sam turns to us. "All right, you guys go. I’ll stay." Sam said. "Forget that. You and (y/n) go after the creepy ex. I’m gonna hang here with the hot chick." Dean said.
"Dude, why do you always get to hang out with the girls?" Sam asked him. "'Cause I’m older." Dean said as he drinks his coffee and smiles with satisfaction. Sam looks at him with incredulity. "How about I stay here with her and you two perverts go and follow the ex?" I said.
"No, screw that. We settle this the old-fashioned way." Sam said, ignoring me, as he takes the coffee cups and sets them down then raises his fist for Rock-Paper-Scissors. "And I'm chopped liver." I muttered as Dean plays along, choosing scissors while Sam chooses rock.
"Dean, always with the scissors." Sam said, in a mocked concern, and slaps Dean on the shoulder. "Shut up, shut up. Two out of three." Dean said and Sam sighs but they lift their hands to play once more. Sam’s rock once again beats Dean’s scissors.
"God!" Dean growls in frustration. "Are we done with child's play?" I asked them and Sam nods. "Bundle up out there, all right?" He said to Dean and I shake my head.
Later, we pull up to the body shop and go inside and get information about Kurt and where he might be, since he wasn't here at work. After some persuasion, we got what we need and Dean started to dial Sam. "Let me guess. You’re sitting on her couch like a stiff, trying to think of something to say." He said as he chuckles and I shake my head and laugh as well.
"No, he hasn’t been at work all week. But because (y/n) and I are good, and I mean really, really good, we got a line on where he might be." Dean said as we get into the car. "What’s she wearing?" Dean asked then he chuckles as he pulls the phone away from his ear and hangs up. "Oh, Sammy." He sighs.
"Is our boy starting to fall for a certain assistant?" I asked Dean, with fake enthusiasm. "I'm not sure, he wouldn't really say. But if I know Sam, he is really fighting back the temptation then he'll give in, eventually." Dean said and I chuckle.
"Well, I'm sorry you're not hanging out with a supermodel and getting lucky with her tonight." I said and Dean looks over at me. "Actually, I'm not really bothered by it. I don't mind hanging out with you." He said and I give a playful scoff at this.
"Shut up." I said as I playfully shove his arm. "Hey, I'm serious." He said and both of us share a look for a few seconds. Then I look down and clear my throat and said. "Shouldn't we go find Kurt." Dean clears his throat and nodded before he starts the car and we go on.
Later that evening, I pick up my phone and dial Sam's number. "Hey." Sam said. "We found him." I said as the loud music of the strip club blasts on. "Good, don’t take your eyes off him." Sam said and I look out at the club and see Dean sitting at a table, staring at the stripper as she dances.
Then I turn my head to the left a little bit and see Kurt sitting at a different table, also staring at the stripper. "Oh yeah, I'll add it to babysitting your brother." I said and Sam chuckles into the phone. "Luckily, this place has great drinks." I said as I look towards the bar and stare at the good-looking bartender.
"Well, I better go, Sammy. Have fun hanging out with Madison." I said and I hang up my phone then go and order a drink as I keep an eye on Kurt.
Later that night, Dean and I were standing on the street outside Kurt's house. We see a light turn on inside the house and Dean gets his gun ready. "This feels so weird." I said and Dean looks over at me. "What?" He asked. "We're stalking a stalker." I said to him and he chuckles a bit. "Yeah, it is weird." He said.
Suddenly, we hear glass shattering the two of us look back up to see the lights off in the house. "What the—?" We said, confused, and we run to the house and burst through the door.
Entering one of the rooms, we see a woman hovering over Kurt'z mauled body. She turns towards us to reveal it's Madison. Though she still looks human, her eyes have turned an electric blue, her teeth have turned to bloody fangs, and she has long claws.
She growls and runs at us, then pushes me to the side. I groan and shake my head as I look up to see she had Dean up against the wall. He cuts her arm with his knife and she growls in pain, and runs out the open window then I pass out.
"(Y/n)? (Y/n)!" Dean's voice said as I start to come to. "Ugh, what happened?" I asked as I place a hand over my face. "Got knocked out. I just woke up myself." Dean said and he starts to dial a number as I start to get up.
"Dean, you guys okay?" Sam's voice asked once Dean put his phone on speaker. "Yeah, now that (y/n) and I are conscious. The werewolf knocked us out. Sam, it’s Madison." Dean replied. "What?" Sam said, confused and shocked. "Yeah, awesome job of keeping an eye on her." I yelled
"Guys, I’ve been here the whole time. She’s in bed, asleep." he said. "Well, she wasn’t an hour ago. Check her right arm below her elbow. I nicked her with a silver knife." Dean said and he hangs up then both of us walk out of the apartment.
We come up to her apartment door and I knock on it. The door opens, revealing it to be Sam and we look in and see Madison tied to a chair. "How you doin’? My head feels great, thanks." Dean said to her. "Same here." I said as we come in.
"We’ve gotta talk." Sam said and he brings us into another room. "She says she has no idea what I’m talking about." Sam said. "She’s lying." I said to him. "Or maybe she really doesn’t know she’s changing, you know? Maybe – maybe when the creature takes over, she blacks out." Sam said.
"Like a really hot Incredible Hulk." Dean said, deadpanned, and I rolled my eyes. "Come on, dude, she ganked her boss and her ex-boyfriend. That doesn’t sound rash and unconscious." said Dean. "Yeah, but what if it was, Dean? I mean, what if some animal part of her brain saw both those guys as threats? Hell, the cop, too." Sam said.
"What are you, the Dog Whisperer now?" Dean asked him. "Look, man, I just…I don’t know, there, there, there was something in her eyes." Sam said to us. "Yeah, she’s killing people!" Dean exclaims. "But if she has no control over it—" Sam said.
"Exactly. She can’t control it. Even if she’s telling the truth, it’s not gonna change anything." Dean growls. "I’m not putting a bullet through some girl’s chest who has no idea what’s happening." Sam said. "Sam, she’s a monster, and you’re feeling sorry for her?" Dean asked. "Maybe I understand her." Sam said and the two stare at each other and I sighed.
"Look, maybe...there might be another way we can get the job done without having to waste her." I said to them. "There might be." Sam said as he pulls out John's journal. "Are you thinking what I think you’re thinking?" Dean asked as Sam flips through the journal. "Dad’s theory – lycanthropy might have a cure if you kill the werewolf who bit you, severing the bloodline." Sam said.
"MIGHT have a cure. Meaning who the hell knows?” Dean said, annoyed. "It’s worth a shot." Sam said. "We don’t even know where to start looking, all right? I mean, the puppy that bit her could be anyone, anywhere. It could’ve been years ago." Dean said and Sam has a look of realization on his face. "No. I don’t think so." He said and he leads us back to the living room, where Madison is still seated.
"Madison, when were you mugged?" He asked and she looks like she doesn't want to answer. "Please. It’s important, all right? Just answer the question." Sam pleads to her. "About a month ago." She replied. "Did you see the guy?" Sam asked. "No. He grabbed me from behind." She replied.
"Did he bite you?" Sam asked her and her eyes widen at this. "How did you know that?" She asked him. "Where?" Sam asked. "On, on the back of my neck." She replied and Sam shows her that he is setting his gun down, and we go behind her. Sam gently brushes her hair away and exposed a scarred lump the size of a golf ball on her neck.
"Oh, that’s just a love bite. Believe me, that could have been a lot worse." Dean said. "Where were you at the time?" I asked Madison. "Walking home from a friend’s loft." She replied. "Let me guess. Not too far from Hunter’s Point?" Sam asked and she nods.
We go back into the other room and Sam closes the door and turns to face us. "The same place where those other murders happened. I’m telling you, it’s a werewolf’s hunting grounds." Sam said to us. "Maybe, but that doesn’t mean it’s gonna be out there tonight." Dean said.
"It’s the right time of the lunar cycle. Look, I know it’s a long shot." Sam said. "Hey, you’re forgetting something. Maddie’s probably gonna turn soon, all right? We can’t just let her take off to an all-you-can-eat buffet." I said to him. "I’ll stay with her." Sam said.
"And if she busts loose?" Dean asked but Sam doesn't response. "Sam?" Dean and I said. "I’ll do it." Sam said, firmly. "Sam." Dean said, still not convinced. "I’ll shoot her, all right? But guys, I need you guys to go out there. At least go look for the thing. Please. We can save this girl." Sam pleads and I stare at him then I nod. "Fine." I said and Dean looks at me and I nod at him.
"Fine." Dean said and Sam nods then Dean and I leave the apartment.
That night, Dean and I hang around Hunter's Point, keeping an eye out for anything suspicious. Then we hear a woman scream and we run towards the screaming. There we see that the werewolf is dragging a woman across the street.
"Hey!" Dean and I shout as we pull out our guns and aim it at it. The werewolf looks up and I realized that it was Madison's neighbor, Glen. As he looks at us, Dean and I shoot him several times and the woman stands up, frightened, and glances at us before running away.
"Hey, don’t mention it!" Dean yells at her and we go and crouch next to Glen, who is coughing and choking. His mouth was covered in blood. After a moment, his fangs retract, and he returns to normal. "It happened...again. Where am I? H–help me. Oh, God. Oh my God." Glen said then he coughs. "All right, easy, Glen." Dean said. "Yeah...Just take it easy." I said, calmly, but then Glen dies, his eyes glazing over. Dean and I share a look of worry.
"It was sort of sad, actually. Glen had no clue what was going on." Dean said to Sam, the next morning, after he comes into the car. "Hey, why do you think he turned Madison instead of just killing her in the first place?" I asked Sam. "I don’t know. I mean, he kind of seemed to have a thing for her." Sam said, shrugging.
"Maybe his primal instinct did, too. Maybe he was looking for a little, uh, hot breeding action." Dean said. "Yeah. Something like that." Sam said, flatly.
"So?" Dean said as he gives a knowing look to Sam. "So what?" Sam asked. "Speaking of Madison…?" Dean started to say but Sam scoffs. "Oh, whatever." He mutters.
"Don’t whatever us, man, you liked her. Maybe, uh—" I said to him. "(Y/n), she thought I was a stark-raving lunatic." Sam said. "You saved her life." Dean said. "Yeah, but she doesn’t know that." Sam mutters then Madison appears at the window.
"You know, for a stake-out, your car’s a bit conspicuous. What are you still doing here?" She asked us. "Honestly? Uh, we’re pretty sure you’re not gonna turn tonight, but we’ve gotta be a hundred percent, so…you know, we’re...lurking." Dean replied to her. "I know this sounds crazy." Sam said to her. "Sure does. Well, if we’re gonna wait it out…we might as well do it together." She said and the boys and I exchange a look.
Later, Madison let's us back into her apartment and she looks down in guilt. "You were telling the truth, weren’t you? About everything. What you did – it was to help me." She said to Sam. "Yeah." Sam replied. "I did all of those horrible things…when I turned." She said, trying to process everything. "You didn’t know." Sam said, softly.
"So, when will we know for sure? Moonrise?" Madison asked us. "No, I don’t think so. You turned middle of the night last night. I think we’ve gotta hang in until sun-up." Sam said as Dean and I watch them, carefully. "Well, it looks like we’ve got ourselves a few hours to kill. Poker, anyone?" Dean said.
Later, the four of us watch as the sun sinks and the moon rises. Dean and I lay our guns on the table. Sam and Madison watch us from the couch. "Oh, no, you guys talk." Dean said to them and they look back at each other.
A few hours later, we watch from the window as the sun comes up. "Does – does this mean it worked?" Madison asked us. "Yeah. I think so." Sam said, relieved, and Madison let's out a sigh of relief. "Oh, God, thank you. Thank you so much." She said as she gives Sam a hug.
I smiled at this as Dean clears his throat, and they pull away and Madison laugh. "You, too, Dean and (y/n). Thank you." She said. "Aw, don’t mention it." Dean said and there was an awkward pause.
"So, we're just gonna head back to the hotel and…watch some Pay-Per-View, or something." I said as I grab Dean's arm and lead him to the door as we leave the apartment, as Dean pumps his fist in the air and I roll my eyes.
That night, Dean pulls out a couple of beers from the fridge and walks over to me and hands a bottle to me. "So, werewolf slayer, what are we gonna do?" I asked him and he shrugs. "Lazy day?" He said and I chuckle."I'm serious, Dean!" I said.
"I am, we could just hang around here and relax." Dean said as he sits next to me on the bed. He picks up a remote and turns the tv on. "Oh God, please don't turn on a porno." I said and Dean chuckles as he flips through a channel only for it to land on a horror movie. "Ah! Here we go! Nightmare on Elm Street!" He said. "I've never seen this." I said and Dean looks over at me in shock.
"What? How have you not seen this movie? It's a classic!" He said. "I just never got around to it." I said, shrugging. "Oh you'll love this! And if you get scared, I'll be here to protect you." He said as he places an arm around my shoulder. "You wish." I said, laughing, as I playfully push his arm off of my shoulder and the two of us started to watch the movie.
At one point, there was a jumps scare in the movie and Dean actually jumped a bit at it. "Hey, I thought you were supposed to be protecting me, Winchester?" I asked in a teasing tone. "I am, I just...pretended to be scared so that you wouldn't feel alone." He said and I cross my arms. "Uh-huh? Well, it didn't scare me, Dean." I said and he glances nervously at me and I laugh.
"Don't worry, I'll protect you." I said, mimicking him, as I place an arm around his shoulder. "Shut up." He mutters and I laugh as we sit back and lean against the headboard of the bed and continue to watch the movie, which then turned into a marathon of the movie series. Hours later I started to feel my eyelids going heavy and I try to fight back the sleep but it seem to overtake me.
*3rd Person POV*
As Dean was engrossed with the movie, he suddenly felt something on his shoulder. He looks over and see that (y/n) had laid her head on his shoulder, she seemed to be asleep. "(Y/n)?" He asked, softly, but she didn't respond. He smiled, fondly, at this then she started to curl up to his chest and laid her head over his heart and draped her arm over him, a small smile appeared on her lips.
Dean chuckles, softly, at this as he looks at her. He wanted so bad to tell her how he feels but he could never find the right time to say anything. And when he does try, something comes up and interrupts him. He sighed at this then leaned his head against the top of hers and runs his hand up and down her arm, slowly.
This moment felt nice and it made him crave more moments like this with her. He knows it's stupid to wait this long but he's not sure when and if that moment will come. He turns his head slightly then kissed the top of her head then went back to watch the movie until he started to pass out.
The next morning, there were several knocks banging on the hotel door, which startled the two awake. "What the--?" (Y/n) said then she realized her sleeping position and looked up to see Dean staring down at her. "Dean, I-I'm sorry." She said, nervously, but he shakes his head. "Nah, it's fine." He said and she smiles at him. Dean smiles back at her before he gets up and goes to the door, revealing it to be Sam.
"She – she turned." He said, breathless. "What?" Dean and (y/n) said, confused, as she walks up next to Dean. "I couldn’t grab her in time." Sam said. "We’ll find her, Sammy." Dean said and (y/n) nods
*(y/n)'s POV*
Minutes later, we quickly come down the steps of the Motel as Sam begins to explain. "I already called Bobby. He doesn’t know anything. Except he knew severing the bloodline wouldn’t work. That’s everyone. They all say it’s impossible to reverse it." He said. "How come she didn’t turn when we were with her?" I asked them
"(Y/n)—" Sam said, exasperated. "So, what, you put her to bed and then she wolfed out? Maybe she’s gotta be asleep to turn." Dean suggests. "What the hell does it matter, Dean? Look, we’ve gotta find some way to help her, some legend we missed or something." Sam said, obviously getting angry and annoyed.
"If there was, don’t you think someone we know would’ve known it?" I asked Sam. "Well, then we have to look harder! Until we find something." Sam yells. "Sammy, I don’t think we’ve got a choice here anymore." Dean said to her.
"What?" Sam asked. "I hate to say it. She’s a sweet girl, but part of her is—" Dean said but Sam talks over him. "Evil?" He asked. "Yeah." Dean said. "Yeah, that’s what they say about me,) and about (y/n), too, Dean! So us you won’t kill, but her you’re just gonna blow away?" Sam asked, angrily, and his phone rings and he answers.
"Madison, where are you?" He asked and he listens for a moment. "Well, do you see any street signs?" He asked her. "All right, hold on, Maddie. We’re coming to get you, just stay where you are." Sam said and he hangs up then looks at us. "Middle Point." He said and we get into thr car and head off.
After picking her up from Middle Point, we return to her apartment and the four of us ended up sitting in the living room. Dean's gun sitting on the table. "I don’t remember anything. I probably killed someone last night. Didn’t I?" She asked us. "There’s no way to know yet." I said to her.
"Is there something else we can try to make it go away?" Madison asked. "We’ll find something. I mean, there’s gotta be some answer, somewhere." Sam said, hopeful. "That’s not entirely true. Madison, you deserve to know. We’ve scoured every source. There’s just no cure." Dean said to her and Madison has a scared look on her face then she turns to Sam.
"Is – is he right?" She asked and Sam, obviously upset, stands up and turns away. "Well, we could lock you up at night, but…you bust out, and some night you will, someone else dies." I said and Madison looks down. "We're sorry." Dean said to her and I nod as Madison begins to cry then exhales.
"So, I guess that’s all there is to it, then." She said. "Stop it. Don’t talk like that." Sam said. "Sam, I don’t wanna hurt anyone else. I don’t wanna hurt you." She said and she picks up the gun and brings it to him.
"Put that down." Sam tells her. "I can’t do it myself. I need you to help me." She said. "Madison, no." Sam said, shaking his head and tears in his eyes. "Sam…I’m a monster." Madison said, firmly. "You don’t have to be. We could find a way, all right? I can. I’m gonna save you." Sam said to her and Madison begins cry harder and I felt my heart breaking for her.
"You tried. I know you tried. But this is all there is left. Help me, Sam. I want you to do it. I want it to be you." She said. "I can’t." Sam said, tearfully. "I don’t wanna die. I don’t. But I can’t live like this. This is the way you can save me. Please. I’m asking you to save me." She pleads and Sam shakes his head. Dean walks over to them and carefully takes the gun from Madison while Sam walks to another room.
Dean and I follow Sam into the other room and see him choking back tears. "Sam. We're sorry." I said as Dean holds up the gun "No, you’re right. She’s right." Sam said as he turns to us, tears in his eyes. "Sammy, I got this one. I’ll do it." Dean said to him.
"She asked me to." Sam said.
"You don’t have to." I said as I go and place a hand on his shoulder while tears slide out of his eyes. I bite my lips as I felt my eyes welling up with tears. "Yes, I do. Please." He said and he holds his hand out for the gun, tears streaming down his face. Dean goes and hands it to him.
"Just wait here." Sam said and he starts to walk but stops and glances back at us, shaking, tears streaming, before heading back to the living room.
I stand there next to Dean as I felt a tear run down my cheeks. I look over at Dean and see a tear running down his face, I give a frown to this and take his hand in mine and he holds on, tightly, as I brush my thumb over his knuckles.
Both of us flinch as we hear a single gunshot from the next room and, like a dam bursting, the tears pour out of my eyes and I turn to Dean and bury my face into his shoulder. He wraps his arms around me and holds me close as I begin to cry and he runs his hand through my hair.

Pitch for a Supermassive Games storyline:
1) The Title
RADIOACTIVE
2) The Prologue
1945, Los Alamos, New Mexico. The Trinity test is a success, resulting in the creation of the first atom bomb. However, a few months later, Dr. Carl McGregor (the red herring protagonist) is called to Los Alamos to investigate a mysterious set of events plaguing the area. Reports of people going missing and residents going crazy have the Pentagon spooked.
One night, Dr. McGregor and his staff are attacked by mysterious shadowy figures. Despite Dr. McGregor’s attempts to flee, he is eventually cut down by what appears to be a “glowing” creature.
(Basically, the villain of this game is some kind of creature that was mutated by the nuclear testing. So, a riff/homage to Godzilla. However, instead of creating kaijus, the monster is much smaller and comparable to the wendigos in “Until Dawn” and the werewolves of “The Quarry”)
3) The Main Story
In the present day, we follow the Proudstar family who live on the G. A. Romero Reservation, which is a few miles away from Los Alamos. The area has become the center of ghost stories due to people still going missing. Of the ghost stories, the most infamous one is that people are being kidnapped by “the skinwalkers”, who in Navajo culture are witches that have the ability to turn into, possess, or disguise themselves as an animal.
(Obviously, the skinwalkers are the radioactive creatures from the prologue. The introduction of the skinwalker legend is meant to be a misdirection)
The Proudstars, who run the local market, have to frequently deal with tourists who want to see “the skinwalkers”. The Proudstars usually dismiss these tourists, especially since a great deal of them tend to be obnoxious (and borderline racist/ignorant). The family, although they’re aware of the legends, aren’t too concerned since they haven’t encountered the supposed skinwalkers.
Around this time, two groups of outsiders arrive at the reservation. The first is a group of ghost hunters who are trying to capture footage of the skinwalkers. The second is a group of ruthless gangmembers that take the Proudstar family hostage.
The first 4 chapters focus on the Proudstars dealing with the gangmembers. Simultaneously, the ghost hunters encounter a “skin-walker”, which turns out to be one of the radioactive creatures from the prologue. The ghost hunters flee the radioactive monsters and make their way to the Proudstar market, putting them in the middle of the hostage situation. They also unintentionally bring the monsters to the market, thus leading into the 2nd half.
The remaining 6 chapters focuses on the Proudstars, the gangmembers, and the ghost hunters trying to work together as a team to survive the radioactive monsters (the fake skinwalkers). Similar to “House of Ashes”, either the groups can put their differences aside or tear each apart. Depending on your choices, either everyone makes it out alive…or everyone ends up meeting the same fate as the scientist from the start.
4) The Playable Protagonists
* Gustavo Proudstar (ABRASIVE, COMMANDING, RATIONAL): The patriarch of the Proudstar family. He is an army veteran and the most skeptical of his family. He is portrayed by Zahn McClarnon.
* Miriam Begay-Proudstar (CONFIDENT, RESOURCEFUL, PERSUASIVE): The matriarch of the Proudstar family. She runs the family’s market and is the most superstitious of her family. She is portrayed by Irene Bedard.
* Jason Proudstar (INSECURE, UNMOTIVATED, INTELLIGENT): Gustavo’s younger brother who he doesn’t have much respect for. He’s smart, but is lazy and fine with mooching off his brother and sister-in-law. He is portrayed by Michael Greyeyes.
* Dante Begay (CONSERVATIVE, METHODICAL, PROTECTIVE): Miriam’s younger brother who works as a tribal police officer. He generally gets along with the Proudstars, but frequently disagrees with his niece Eliza over her political beliefs. He is portrayed by Martin Sensmeier.
* Eliza Proudstar (DRIVEN, COMPLEX, IRREVERENT): The eldest daughter of Gustavo and Miriam. She is a progressive political activist who moved out to the city, but visits the family from time to time. She is portrayed by Q'orianka Kilcher.
* Wenona Proudstar (INNOCENT, AMBITIOUS, ADVENTUROUS): The youngest daughter of Gustavo and Miriam. She is a college student but secretly dreams of being a famous actress. She is portrayed by Amber Midthunder.
* Freddy Kim (FOOLHARDY, RELAXED, LOYAL): The only playable character from the ghost hunter group. He is his group’s camera man and the one who doesn’t take the ghost stories seriously. He is portrayed by Steven Yeun.
* Melissa Frost (RUTHLESS, DETERMINED, COURAGEOUS): The only playable character from the gangmembers. Although she is a ruthless thug, it’s slowly revealed that she has a heart of gold. She is the gangmember who suggests a truce with the Proudstars. She is portrayed by Victoria Pedretti.
5) Significant Non-Playable Characters (note: I’m not covering every single character in this hypothetical game)
* Samuel Fulci: The leader of the ghost hunters. He is obsessed with viewership and clout, to the point he ignores warnings about potential danger. He is portrayed by Bruce Campbell.
* Lars Waingrove: The leader of the gangmembers. He is a ruthless sociopath and the most dangerous person in the survivor group. Because of this, Lars can be considered the secondary antagonist of the game (sorta like Josh Washington or Travis Hackett, but less sympathetic). He is portrayed by Leigh Whannell.
* The CIA Agent / The Man in Black: An unnamed agent who is interrogating the player about the events of the story. Basically, this game’s version of the Psychiatrist/the Curator/Eliza Vorez. He is portrayed by Michael Biehn.
