Hi, may I ask if the Ghost Kids have powers, what would it be and why?

Mm, no they don’t have powers, however they do know what happens after death but they don’t get any special abilities like Finn and Gwen.

But if I had to give them any powers related to what they did in canon it would go like this.

Vance, Pb, and Griffin are the strongest while Bruce and Robin are one of the weakest in terms of ghost powers.

I would differentiate between them though like if I had to explain it, it would be like El’s powers for Vance like he has a scream that could shatter windows, throwing shit with his mind, or can make others feel his strong emotions. He would have the strongest ability like in canon.

Pb maybe being able to move things with his mind, not very good but enough to startle a few people. He’s the third strongest.

Griffin I think would be able to levitate maybe, I’m linking it to his iconic scene, it’s not like he can fly but more like Steven Universe’s floating power in SU. He’s the second strongest.

Bruce would maybe have the ability to interrupt radio waves, or something small. He doesn’t have a lot of energy for powers like that because I think using them would just drain him. He’s the fourth strongest.

Lastly Robin, I think it would be very similar to Bruce’s since he’s the fifth strongest having only been in the basement for a shorter period of time.

This is very jumbled and not at all something I’ve thought about, but I have thought about a superhero au for the boys if anyone would be interested in that!

First off is Nerrez. She's a Balakian (combined order and chaos realm in my au) who doesn't subscribe to the idea of order or chaos despite her birth realm. She's a necromancer who only does things that benefit her. Quan Chi made a deal with her to create Scorpion as his servant in exchange that the bodies of the people Scorpion kills goes to her. This is how she acquired Bi-Han's body and made Noob Saibot with an experimental method.

This is Gentaro Hitora (I've posted him before but I changed his first name because it was too close to Sento). He's Kenshi's yakuza friend who, after Kenshi declares war on the yakuza, becomes his man on the inside and informant. More of a background/kameo charcter.

This is Sero, an Edenian. He's the patron to the Edenian goddess of health and fertility. As her patron he has her healing magic. After Shao Kahn conquers Edenia he is absorbed into Outworld's court with Shao allowing him to worship and build temples for his god as long as he works at his beck and call. He is the reason many come out of mortal kombat alive despite their injuries.

And the last one (for now) is my only civilian character, Kung Huai, Lao's younger sister and Jin's mother. As per Kung tradition she was placed in an arranged marriage to Jin's father. Compared to Lao she is quiet reserved (mostly because of the pressure the Kung family placed on her, Lao is more outspoken because he was raised by the Shaolin instead). She's also in the closet (I genuinely can't imagine her with a man willingly)

Oh yeah here’s my ref for my main OC Kori!!

At the time I was working on Alicia's redesign, I had a bit more grasp on her - more adventures were on the horizon, and she was surprisingly active for herself, making my job a *bit* easier. She even participated in a diplomatic mission, becoming a key part of it with her ideas, and thanks to her, it seemed a war was avoided between the power hungry nations - for a while. Later on though this peace was broken, so now she has to raise the dead and fight, although I have a feeling she'll be disappointed again so deeply that it'll make her leave everything and everyone behind.

After the wandering wizard, I kinda started to imagine her as some sort of headmaster of the necromancers, even though she doesn't have this title - yet. Her outfit was still a struggle though, one was too casual, one felt too steampunk-ish, one seemed too revealing and I skipped that instantly. After a while something finally clicked - she is blessed by the Moon, and since the shape of the crescent moon and the curve of the ribcage is similar, I went with that, but with caution - I didn't want her to become toooo edgy :DD

Although her new quarterstaff is likely in the edgy territory... 🙄

This took me LITERAL days trying to make a good pose/design/colors-! I finally gave up and used a reference and I still don’t like it fully 😭 he’s a purble dragon man who I forgot to post for a whole extra day-

I can see him being very much a dragon type, hoarding his wealth in a cave and using his magic to guard it from knights. Rewatching the music video made me realize how Disney Villainy he is, so maybe he was some royal before, a prince who was cursed with the greed and violent powers of a dragon-esc beast- maybe he just needs true love’s hug to be cured :3 (he Will kill you for touching him-)

More DD au ramblings bc I'm ill

Gaige is a Necromancer class and this is an absolute no brainer. She functions kinda like a Houndmaster but fucked up and evil. Also her robot hand is skeletal instead of mechanical.

Continuing with the theme of TTAODK class mods: Salvador would be a Barbarian, and probably focus more on melee than guns. Sorry.

Aurelia could definitely still be a Baroness class, however I don't think ice magic fits the magics of the DD setting and if we focused on her sniping stuff we'd probably end up making her too similar to her brother. However, I think if we DD-ified her Contractual Aristocracy tree into something like an Antiquarian, she could end up as something very interesting indeed.

Speaking of which: Alistair and Aurelia are your starting characters.

Timothy could also work as an Antiquarian kinda type, but with way more focus on inventory management and maybe some strange occult abilities granted to him by the same unseen force that branded him with the Iron Crown. (Yep, Jack doesn't really exist in this universe. Because yes.)

Claptrap is a piece of animated stonework. He's completely immune to bleeding, disease, and has ridiculous HP, PROT and Move resist, but his other stats and Blight resist are complete ass. Also, he's a critical-focused support class, kinda like an Occultist (complete with 0 minimum healing skills) + Jester (but with stress heals that have a chance to cause stress instead).

Krieg would probably end up being a sort of Flagellant/Leper/Abomination combo.

Brick, Zer0, Nisha, Athena and Mordecai could probably function mostly unaltered (obvs, their costumes and abilities would be changed slightly to fit the universe, but still) but I'd have to rename Mordecai's class so it doesn't overlap with Hammylocks. That or I change Hammylock's class to "Gentleman" which would be kinda funny tbh.

Fl4k would be very cool in this setting, but I'd probably have to turn them into an undead or something. That, or they're animate stonework like Claptrap.

I have exactly 0 clue how to make Zane, Moze or Wilhelm fit into this, so if anyone has suggestions for them I'm willing to listen.

I also have no clue how to make Sirens fit into this whole thing, so...

I mean, the real answer is all of them, lbr, but I'm really proud of trouble at my door (the necromancer au!!) because I love the worldbuilding I did, and it's basically the first case fic I ever wrote, and fight scenes that don't lead to sex!!! And a really good sex scene, too, if I do say so myself

3) What fic of yours do you think is underrated?

Hmmm, there's a couple answers for this, one of which is trouble at my door again, lol, but probably (this one) to the grave - it's an ultra rarepair (Chris Kreider/John Tavares), but I love the werewolf worldbuilding I dit, and sometimes I think about revisiting it

4) What fic of yours were you surprised by how popular it was?

Oh, probably any Tkachuks or Hughes (or Fantilis now, I guess lol) fic that gets over like 20 kudos or more than a couple comments, tbh. I get so much pushback from fandom (anon and otherwise) about writing it that it's always weird to me if they do well in that way

6) Do you outline your fics? If so, how?

I do not usually - for a series, I'll make notes as I go so I don't Joss myself, and if there's a case (so basically, necromancer au and in death au lmaoo) I make notes about it, but usually I just have an idea - what if Thom Bordelau was a necromancer? What if Jack Eichel was a crime lord? What if Trevor Zegras was a werewolf? and on and on forever - and then I sit down and start writing it to see what happens. After a few hundred words I mostly know how I want it to end, and what happens to get there. But I don't outline it the way plotters generally do - I tried before, when I was still figuring out my process for writing, but when I do write done everything like that first I don't want to write it anymore because the story feels told to me then, and my brain's satisfied.

8) Do you take inspiration from real life? If so how do you incorporate it into your fics?

Yeah, some - I think to a certain extent every writer does, we can't help it. As for how it ends up in fics...I think it's mostly little things, like. Someone's favorite song or drink - large iced mocha, extra chocolate from DD baybee (Turcs fave btw) - the way they tilt their head to the side when they ask questions, how impatient they are with people sometimes.

I do bring a lot of sex/kink/bdsm experience to my fic, too, I think - not necessarily in the sense that I write everyone having the same kinks as me, but I've been around kink and dungeons almost my whole adult life so there's stuff I know how to write that I'm not always into, and it makes it easier to have seen it done irl, or know someone who's into whatever I'm writing.

It also means I get a lot of people poking at me, through their own fic or in my inbox, about stuff that I've written, but at least there's hardly any death threats any more, unlike when I first started writing bdsm AUs/fics 😂😂😂

14) What is something you wrote in a fic that you are hoping readers picked up on but you don't know if they did? And/or, what is something that you were excited that readers did pick up on?

Oh this is such a good question - there's a couple, really, one of which is in (take this) to your grave by the end of that fic John's a very specific kind of crazy, and I love when readers picked up on that ❤️❤️❤️ there's also a part in the godlings verse where it's explained why Auston always looks so cranky when he's in Toronto (it's because he's the son of Apollo and he loathes cold weather lol) and I love the couple people who picked up on it 💕💕💕

aghhhh okay now youve got me started :DD im gonna describe the world they live in a bit and then go into a brief description of each character

so the world they live in is very much inspired by classic dnd world. i do not know how else to describe it soooo. anyways the main kingdom is called the kingdom of the lost ones because it is known for not having a direct bloodline of succession. like the rulers children do not tend to take over the throne. so its often lower class people who take the throne, either scholars or soldiers or something like that, people who have the populations respect. also there is a group of necromancers who live in the forest and are a fun found family!

now for the characters!!

jeannemarie-47 she/her

she is one of the queens of the kingdom. she is married to reina. they have both been queens for about five years, since the precious ruler died and named reina his successor. jeannemarie is a magic user, and specializes with healing and light magic. she has a brother named beatrice

reina-49 she/her

reina is the other queen of the kingdom. she is a former general, and that is how she rose in ranks and grew to be respected enough to be named successor to the throne. she is a very calm and strong presence and the people love her.

corinne-17 they/them

corinne is the prince of the kingdom and their moms are the queens. they are very creative and energetic and charismatic, but kind of resent being royalty, since theyre not used to it at all. they spend most of their time out of castle. they use a cane. they were found on a battlefield as a baby by reina and adopted by reina and jeannemarie.

beatrice-39-she/he

beatrice is jeannemaries younger brother. she is the leader of a group of necromancers that live in the forest near the kingdom. he was the primary caretaker of jaymie as jaymie was growing up. she loves her sister a lot and they have a very close relationship. he is also a magic user, but unlike her sister, she is a necromancer. he has a prosthetic arm made out of a reanimated skeleton arm.

jaymie was found in the middle of the forest as an infant by the group of necromancers. they all kind of adopted him, but his primary parent would be beatrice. he loves plants and nature a lot. his family all thought he didnt have magic for the longest time (magic takes a bit to manifest in this world and he was a late bloomer even by those standards) and they were all chill with that. but then one day he started doing nature and healing magic. so beatrice was like ‘hey do you want to go live with my sister for a bit because she knows a lot more about this stuff then any of us do’

anyways thats the basic premise of the characters and setting! sorry it got so long lol, and thank you for the ask!

(for the sleepover post!!!) for halloween im dressing as Harrow from one of my favourite books, gideon the ninth. (if u dont know about her already, you can look her up! there's some amazing fan art out there). she is a grumpy lesbian necromancer, does lots of fancy stuff with bones. so ive taken apart a full sized skeleton and made it into a sort of armour/harness, and im doing her ceremonial skull make up too

THATS SO COOL !! :DD i honeslty admire it whenever people are able to do their own Halloween costumes because i spent most of my halloweens just buying them. one day i wanna have that much fun, though. i was planning on going as a lion, just a gigantic lion onesie!! r u gonna attend a party? a haunted house? or just trick or treat? i hope u have fun either way! :-}

New player anon again, thank you for your fantastic reply!! I'll admit there were a couple od things that I disagree with but I'm sure that stems more from my lack of enough research to these character's backstories

Someone in your replies had also said that it's better to consider the DD1 and DD2 characters as seperate entities and I can't help but agree. After all, the jump in premise from "exploring the cursed dungeon and driving back nasty monsters" to "literally saving the world from a bigger eldritch horror than last time" is a bit much in terms of upping the stakes. After all, while in DD1 it seemed believeable that warriors would come to the hamlet to be hired and were there for their own selfish reasons...what sort of reason is there for the DD cast to want to take on the apocalypse itself? The way I see it, most of the cast saw the dungeon crawling as a job, but I cannot see them tackling the DD2 big bad from the virtue of their hearts. Perhaps the Protege hired them but ehh...less believable than the Heir hiring them idk

Also DD1's main color palette being red is cooler than DD2's main color palette being blue lol

i'd love to hear things you disagree with, personally, because discussing characters is my passion, and even if i disagree with someone's take, it's always interesting to see how they justify it - if they justify it, and it's not, well, just a preference

starting with something easy - i would disagree that DD2 is "blue". Sure, the Ingress is blueish-black, but I guess it's more of a continuation of the "cosmic" theme. Blue/cyan/green are usually the colours of the "celestial" in the DD as far as I can see - take The Colour of Madness, for example - it's cyan, blue and grey, mostly, and those are the colours we somewhat see in Tangle and Shroud, locations "infected" by something cosmic/celestial. Meanwhile, red/black/purple are the colours of the Darkest Dungeon, The Heart, Crimson Curse (mixed with white), Cultists and whatever comes "from below", and they can be seen in Foetor and its assumed connection to Flesh and Sluice/Warrens to a lesser degree. besides, new location of Sprawl is definitely not blue, so i'm not sure what are you about here... the infodumps before each run? i'd call them grey. the Altar of Hope? it's always purple it's also grey. could you point what you mean by "being blue" here?

and regarding the other point you bring up... that's the issue i have! those are NOT different characters, this is NOT a different world, and we have quotes, items and characters to prove that. Baldwin says that he used to be religious when he interacts with Holy Beads in an inn. we meet Caretaker as Hoarder and at least some of the characters note that he is familiar to them. the one who teaches your heroes upped skills is none other than Guild Lady. we get Ethereal Dust and Otherwordly Fragment from The Sleeper. we get The Blood and The Wine from Crimson Court. hell, we see fully grown Willbur and Wilbur's Flag, much like we get those in DD1.

Damian is the most obvious and the latest living (?) proof of DD2 being a direct sequel of DD1, if Protege's story wasn't screaming it loud enough, since he and his Professor narrowly escaped (or Professor didn't quite manage to) being turned into the Necromancer from DD1.

frankly, if those were separate bubbles, separate branches of reality, i'd have a lot less gripe with DD2 lore- and character-wise, but (unfortunately?) RH go out of their way to prove how it IS a continuation of DD1, story-wise. that this is the same Dismas, that this Para is the same Para, and that Baldwin still somehow can get double leprosy.

also: the reason why they want to take a fight to an apocalypse can be, quite literally, a desire to survive or die trying; if they don't fight the apocalypse they'll die 100%. if they do fight the apocalypse... well, realistically, they still die 100% but they feel better about themselves. but this is not what happens in the game.

speaking of which.

my biggest gripe with DD2 is that it feels... "hollywood-y", for lack of a better term. a pack of socially undesirable underdogs, stopping the end of the world they have literally no way/no means/not enough understanding to stop by the power of drugs and friendship and maybe a gun they found along the way. let me explain.

in DD1 it was a war of attrition, either you mismanage your town (and yes, you have a whole town bending to your will and serving you, providing for you and implementing whatever you want and can afford), or whittle down cultists and horrors and breach in to... not win, no and this is an extremely important distinction, here! - but to return things to the status quo. the Heir(ess) cannot win against the Heart. they simply cannot. it's not a thing a human, cursed or not, can do. they can only perpetuate the cycle and return things to the start by stockpiling corpses of their mercs high as the sky in an attempt to do so. again, you have a whole town at your disposal and you can't win, you can only win more time which, in the end, is futile since it's a continuation of the cycle. notice you can't do anything about The Heart just as you can't do much about the Sleeper but return them to the start of the sleeping cycle, unlike more "corporeal" beings like Countess, Flesh, etc.

now, in DD2, you canonically have: a guy who nearly became the Necromancer's right shinbone, two horses, a wooden box with wheels and four traumatized people who had already seen some shite. no planning, no whittling, no attrition, no army, self-made as it was in DD1. and you do the biggest sin of the cosmic horror genre - you WIN. not survive. not escape with a few scars, a forever shattered sanity and a grey head. not return things to the feeble status quo by a MacGuffin and a connection to some cosmic entity (or being a larva of one). win. if you count the inn stops, the game is four days long. think about it. you WIN against an apocalyptic calamity which fucks up the entire WORLD (not some province, not even a country or a continent, not some lost backwater estate, the WHOLE WORLD) in four days. twenty if you want to be pedantic and include all five chapters. twenty five in we're being generous and adding sluice. twenty five days to win the unwinnable. i think the quickest i've seen DD1 finished was 16 weeks...? and again, that wasn't a win, narrative-wise even if the player won against the final boss. it was a draw, a reboot because you shouldn't be able to win against the cosmic horror. it's not how cosmic horror works...

please note, i'm not trying to diminish your love for DD2. go for it, enjoy what i have issues with, i'll be happy to see the fandom having new people and new takes. if you can explain or maybe just not care about it all, i genuinely envy you and wish i could, too. alas, here i am, overthinking the rule of cool and why RH does what they do.

After a year away from eso a friend kept asking me of I played the RG trial. Which i havent as i stopped playing mid release of the area and shortly came back when the small area after that release. So i became curious what eso became and started playing again. I did NOT know Necrom would release 2 days after me touching the game again.

After some thinking and as i had fun again i bought it and DAMN!

I LOVE the new areas!

AND I LOVE the new class!

Arcanist is so much fun! It may be easier to play than my necromancer but i like the simple concept for a DD. Poor Dra'Jira will lose her place as my most played character sadly but she has a special place in my heart as she is the reason i kept playing because of her, the release of the necromancer class (which she is) and northern elsweyr.

Ri'zaari, my arcanist, is nearly fully equipped. I "only" need 2 trial Sets, 3 skill lines (mage, warrior and undaunted) and skyshards and i can play her in raids instead of Dra'Jira.

Im sad my arcanist is already doing more dps than my necromancer but my friend, a necromancer main, warned me most classes cannot keep up with DKs. But as i dont really Play vet! content it doesnt Matter mich i guess.

So yeah Necrom is neat and i need to catch up as i havent played 3 dlc areas.
