Venus conj. Saturn has been the biggest lesson for me in love. In the connection often with this placement, the venus person clings to affection and love in a codependent way. The saturn person may withdraw & avoid romance altogether, creating an unstable dynamic. Why do you think Jean and Pieck work well as a couple? (srs)

I know you have a fic of it but I'm curious about your direct take.

Oooo I’m definitely not the first person who has said this but a lot of the appeal with Jean x Pieck lies with the post-canon potential between the two of them as opposed to scenes that you directly see in the manga/anime!

Jean and Pieck are both shown to be incredibly pragmatic, level-headed, and loyal characters, (where their loyalty primarily lies with people as opposed to the systems that brought them up. I.e. Pieck saying she doesn’t trust Marley but the people she’s fought with, and Jean telling Reiner that they’re no different from each other, so it’s wrong to judge their actions), and in their few short scenes together, it shows that they immediately read how the other works in a way that they can work together efficiently in a fight. They don’t hold anything against each other for past instances, because right off the bat they both understand that nothing is personal in war, and when they’re finally at a point in the narrative where it’s time to join up, they do so immediately without hesitation.

From a physical standpoint, Jean canonically likes girls with dark hair, and while that in and of itself isn’t enough to say “oh they’re canon because she has black hair”, it does lend to the idea that Pieck may have partially been designed to serve as a potential secondary love interest for Jean, considering that she was originally supposed to be a middle aged man. Even if that change wasn’t intended to open that door, their scene together on Eren’s Titan very clearly pushes a “hey guys this is also a new potential love interest situation so pay attention to these two!!!” Type of agenda that’s really common in this type of storytelling. Pieck herself is portrayed as being inseparable from Porco, who also has a fiery temperament and dirty-blonde hair, and while Porco and Pieck lack the absolutely absurd height difference between her and Jean, we still see her interactions with a male character that has similar traits with Jean. Once Porco dies, Pieck is clearly upset, but then chooses to push forward to fulfill her duty to her fellow warriors (who else in this story chose to follow through to make a difference to honor a comrade that was in one way or another killed because of Reiner???) they’re reflections of the same character traits in different bodies, and they mirror each other incredibly well when they barely even interact onscreen.

But in the parts where they DO interact, I can’t tell you how many shows and movies I’ve seen that have had two side characters that previously didn’t talk much suddenly wind up in a long fight sequence together, and more often than not, it does lead to a character change and emphasized romantic potential by the end of the story. Character blocking in scenes is incredibly important, and when two characters are placed together for a 4-5 minute scene of just the two of them, then the contrast of both their visuals and their personalities is much more noticeable. Then we get into the boat scene, where Pieck is the one to tease Jean about his hair, and he makes just as equally cheeky a response. I do think their time as ambassadors would put them in close quarters very often, and in real life, people fall for each other all the time when they’re together 24/7. I think it was intentional that Pieck was the one to start the banter with Jean to go back on my previous statements, and I think by the end of the story, that’s implied that there’s a good chance the two of them either currently have something going on, or that there’s something that will happen between them eventually. I also like the idea that since they met as adults, and with wildly different life experiences, they could have a lot to learn from each other without years of trauma and baggage that affects their relationship. They’re two entirely separate people that have the potential to become something completely new together as opposed to being together in the shadow of everything that happened to them when they were younger.

Also consider this: incredibly attractive and smug man meets even more attractive and smug woman. Then they have four kids.

Basically, to understand the briefcase you’ll need a bit of context first :3

SPOILER WARNING (technically, im hopefully making them a youtube shorts series once ive finished with my main project, but we’ll see :3)

Hasel (or 049 :3) comes from 1340’s france. He had a wife and a daughter who both caught the black death. He was working as a doctor at the time, and tried everything he could to save them, but they died. His daughter’s dying wish was for him to live, which cursed him to live forever altering his form to something resembling a crow, the omen of death.

In this sense he is now a monster (or anomalous if you prefer) and now portrays more birdlike traits :D

So with this in mind, he feels incredibly guilty. He feels as though the deaths of his wife and child are entirely his fault because he couldn’t cure them.

This guilt manifests itself into a caricature of his wife, where she taunts and tortures him within his mind in a place known as the grey dimension (seen in my earlier birdsong project)

when he gets lost inside the grey dimension (more or less lost in guilt) his physical body turns to auto pilot, and will hunt down anything obstructing his path to “the cure”. This is the monstrous form we see :D

The caricature also produces a black vine, which is my au’s version of the pestilence :D He can see this everywhere, he believed it infects people, and he believes he must find the cure for it in order to redeem himself (this isn’t true, especially because this vine isn't actually real)

CONTEXT OVER

right, so Hasel meets dyo (or 035 :D) in 1601. They travel together and eventually fall in love :3 Hasel slowly becomes happier now that hes learning how to enjoy life, and continues his journey to find a “cure”, unaware that its staring him in the face, Dyo, who helps him to forgive and tackle his past, whether unintentional or not.

Eventually their story leads up into 1916, during the first world war. Battles, despite their nature, are an efficient way for Hasel to research the dead whilst avoiding killing where he can.

He had almost hurt dyo by accident after his monstrous form takes him over, and the vine was telling him that he was in the way, that dyo was stopping him from reaching the cure.

At this point something had been building up inside of him. It was a sense of dread, a feeling that something bad was going to happen.

And there it was. He looks over no-man’s land and all he can see is death. He can’t take it anymore, and that night he runs, scared of hurting his lover and scared of “failing” those from his past.

The briefcase however? Its not too important :3 Its a way for him to carry his supplies and it changes to keep up to date with the time period :3 He left it behind so dyo would know he’s gone. Dyo had also had this impending sense of dread, he felt deep down that something like this might happen, but he desperately tried his best to ignore it. So now he’s searching for hasel, the only person in his life who could never leave him, the only one who wouldn’t die.

So yeah thats it in basic terms :3 (after hasel leaves the caricature of his wife is replaced with a manifestation of dyo, masks comedy and tragedy and a mix of the two as it shows how his guilt has become more complex over time :3)

Ritualist (Pathfinder Second Edition Archetype)

Ah, rituals. Originally included in First Edition’s Occult Adventures, these magical effects placed magic in the hands of anyone who understood the process, essentially a long-form version of casting to the short-form Vancian magic, where by undergoing the full ritual for the spell all at once rather than preparing the spell ahead of time with a few final trigger words, one could cast magical effects using magic in the air, allowing anyone with the proper skills able to do so if they learn the ritual itself.

However, rituals have drawbacks, and consequences if they go wrong, whether they be as simple as a long-form version of a common non-combat spell so you don’t have to prepare it or a truly unique effect, so you had best get that appropriate skill bonus nice and high.

While they were originally presented as occult lore, being somewhat obscure, anyone, even non-caster can learn and perform them, and they became even more common in 2nd edition, especially as certain spells that definitely should have been rituals in the first place became reworked as such (such as creating undead servants and other loyal servant creatures), and the whole occult thing being dropped in favor of rituals simply being a long and risky form of magic.

Naturally, however, there are those who specialize in such rituals, learning many and making sure they go off without a hitch with other benefits besides.

This archetype was originally a late-game addition to 1st edition as a prestige class, so it’s nice to see it make a return.

Additionally, the archetype also got reprinted in the Remaster, with the most major change being losing one of the higher-level feat options, which I understand. More on that later.

But in any case, if you want to play a character that learns and uses a lot of ritual magic, whether they can cast actual spells or not, this archetype can certainly be tempting, so let’s have a look, shall we?

The base dedication for this archetype, which requires expertise in at least one of the skills associated with one of the four disciplines of magic, grants greater skill in casting rituals. Additionally, their personal research into rituals grants  them access to a number of rituals for free, which grows in number and power as they do, though the personalized nature of these rituals makes them impossible to teach.

When lacking in allies to use as secondary casters, many ritualists learn to perform double duty, performing multiple roles at once, though obviously this doesn’t allow them to perform rituals they are meant to be the recipient of by themselves.

Rituals grow in difficulty as they grow in power, but these daring mystics may attempt those considered beyond their ken due to their great talent, though obviously they still risk much, perhaps more.

Time is perhaps the biggest resource consumed by ritual magic, but plenty of ritualists know how to skip past some of the less important bits to speed them up, turning a day-long ritual into hours, and cutting-down multi-day rituals.

The last thing that you want to see when you’re in the middle of casting is one fool mucking up their role. Luckily, masterful ritualists can cover for the failures of another while casting.

There’s an old internet adage that “If you can’t get fresh mandrake root, store-bought is fine”, and plenty of ritualists, through clever substitutions or efficiency with their use, can cut down on the amount of material ingredients used in a ritual as long as they succeed, which translates into less money spent as far as the rules are concerned.

The original version of the archetype also had a further upgrade to the feat that decreased ritual time, but the remastered version consolidated the benefits of that feat into the original feat, making it an upgrade that unlocks automatically once you get to the right level, which is nice.

And that’s that. The ritualist is definitely the best option if you wanna deep dive into rituals, and as long as you’ve got the right skills, you can use it with any class, though obviously true casters are the best option, while non and mildly magical classes will probably focus on rituals tied to their skill of choice. Champions paired with divine rituals, rangers with primals ones, et cetera.

Rituals come in many different forms, so to understand what sort of character would specialize in such things, one has to look at what they focus on. Powerful mages might choose a variety for academic understanding, while a champion might learn divine ones like atonement to judge others and offer them a chance of redemption, as well as minister to the rites of the faith.

Rituals are a key part of the Old Ways, and many witches specialize in them. This of course includes hags as well, and the Venebra coven treats Elder Magena, a green hag of incredible age and power, with great reverence even as her younger companions seek to supplant her and acquire her knowledge, despite not being hags themselves.

The Keepers of Infinite Mystery are devoted priests of the Scroll-Bearer, god of magic. In their greatest temples are the details of many rituals, including some that refuse to be written down, existing only via oral tradition, memorized and passed from one devotee to the next.

Something of a curiosity himself with mixed dwarven and elven lineage, Mengalar is a collector of all sorts of trinkets and obscure lore as a thaumaturge, and even knows a few rituals that can prove vital in fending off the creatures of the night.

Oldest Children

A/N: Just a quick little fluff blurb that I wrote a while back and I think it's kinda cute. So hopefully you guys like it too. This is just a quick little post until I get the first part of the next series up later this week.

Pairing: Neteyam x Fem!Metkayina!Reader

Warnings: Just fluff

Word Count: 800

Summary: You are the oldest daughter of Tonowari and Ronal and the responsibility of training the Sully kids falls on you and your siblings. You and Neteyam end up bonding over your roles as the oldest children of your families.

It had been about 2 weeks since the Sully family arrived on your shores. You had always heard tales of the Toruk Makto and his legendary triumphs against the sky people. No one ever thought he and his family would come to seek uturu, but given the circumstances, it was understandable. It was the safest option.

As the eldest daughter of Tonowari, you and your siblings were tasked with helping the children learn your ways of life. Teaching them how to properly breathe and ride ilu and hunt.

Even though it felt like a burden, you couldn’t help but take an interest in the family and how different your ways were. In particular, when they arrived, one of them caught your eye. When you and your sister emerged from the sea to see the commotion, you noticed her locking eyes with the younger boy in the family. You instantly knew she had taken a liking to him. It almost made you miss the glance the older boy gave you. He gave you a small smile and nod and you look away smiling to yourself.

It was a big adjustment for everyone and Ao’nung making fun of the kids definitely didn’t help the situation. After some time, and many stern talks, he backed off some.

You sit on the beach with Neteyam, the oldest of the Sully kids, and you trade stories about the forest and the sea. You both bonded quickly during the lessons since you were both the eldest of your families. You could relate to one another.

You sat cross legged in front of him, “hold up your hand”. He does as you ask and you place your hand on his looking at the differences. You take note of how much bigger his hand is than yours, but it was much thinner. Not adapted for swimming efficiently like yours was. And the color, the contrast of his darker blue skin against your aquamarine was striking. “Wow.”

You sit looking at his hand that dwarfs yours, but Neteyam is looking at your face of wonder. Your eyes lock onto his and he threads his fingers through yours. It feels like time stops. His big golden eyes are overwhelming. You clear your throat and drop your gaze, pulling your hand back into your lap. “So, tell me more. How are you settling in here? I know it is much different from what you are used to.”

Neteyam leans back on his hands and turns his face up to the sky. “I like it here, but of course, I miss the forest. But I have to hold it together for my siblings. It is important for me to set an example for them so that they can adjust here too.”

“That makes sense” you think out loud. “It’s hard being the oldest child. Having to be there for everyone else and live up to your parents’ expectations all the time, it’s draining. Sometimes I wonder what my life would be like if I were just one of the people.”

He shifts his gaze to look at you and cocks his head to the side. “What would you do? What do you want for yourself?”

The sounds of the waves crashing on the shore fill your mind as you try to picture your ideal life free of the burden that came with your lineage. “I would live a quiet, domestic life. I would mate with a strong warrior who would protect me and we would have lots of children.” The image is serene and it makes you sigh with content. Your attention is brought back to Neteyam when he grabs your hand. His eyes are narrowed on your face, but they are still so soft.

He leans in closer to your face and your breathing is getting heavier.

“If there were such a man who wanted to give you that life, would you have him?” You swallow the lump that’s formed in your throat and grip his hand back.

“In a heartbeat.”

He shoots you a quick smile flashing his fangs and it makes you feel like you could just melt. Before another word can be spoken between you, his name is being called in the distance.

“Neteyam! Dad says it’s time to come in!” it’s Tuk jumping up and down yelling from far down the beach. You both turn to look in her direction and you breathe a small sigh of relief at the broken tension.

While your attention is still turned in the direction of where the young child just was, Neteyam leans in and places one small kiss on your cheek. Your ears shoot up and your face is a deep purple. You touch the spot he just kissed still feeling the warmth while you watch him stand from his place in the sand and walk towards his little sister.

This boy was going to be the death of you.

When I first heard Rand would be working in a sanitarium in season 2 and he’d have a friend named Errol, I was kind of annoyed. Why would they spend precious time in a location and on a character that aren’t in the books, when there is so much ground to cover and so many characters to introduce?

But they used this setting and this character so economically, and so efficiently, that I have been completely converted. They didn’t waste a moment of screentime for Errol, and in only a few minutes justified his creation as a terrific vehicle for exposition and to introduce so many important concepts.

As soon as Rand walks in the door we’re introduced to the Aiel War (specifically—I means we got Blood Snow last season but it wasn’t put in a lot of context). We get a personal view into how much Cairhein specifically was affected by it (the effects of which are mentioned a couple more times this season), as well as giving it a relative timeframe—Errol is much older than Rand, so it wasn’t just a few years ago.

We are reminded that Rand looks like the Aiel even with shaving his head, reminding us about his adoption and that he’s an outsider. Here in Cairhein, even when people know and like him, the citizens are likely to have a gut reaction of surprise or fear when they first see him, something that may contribute to his difficulties ruling the place down the road. We are reminded that they are considered fierce fighters, and introduce that their women also fight and are considered deadly.

We are introduced to sword forms! We didn’t get Lan training Rand in either season (although it sounds like we will finally get it next season!), so it’s nice to learn he’s been getting at least some introductory training if he’s going to be a blademaster eventually. It’s also very consistent with the books for Rand to take advantage of opportunities to learn whatever and from whoever he can. We’re reminded about Rand’s heron-marked blade (before it does its important thing and melts in episode 8) and make the connection that it is carried by blademasters.

So importantly, we see how kind Rand is. He clearly knows and likes this crazy old man who’s calling for the guards. He speaks to him kindly without a trace of annoyance that they’re having the same conversation they do everyday (anyone who cares for people with dementia can probably understand that is really hard at times!). He puts Errol’s shoes on for him. This isn’t quite washing feet, which Biblically speaking is an act of humbling one’s self, but it’s definitely the sort of thing you wouldn’t expect the Promised One to be doing routinely. Right now it’s his job to do, but he does it with the care and compassion you might have for an elderly family member. He defends and comforts Errol when another employee is cruel. At heart Rand is kind and loving. Killing, ordering executions, sending people into danger where some will definitely die are all things he will need to do as Dragon Reborn, and his struggle with this will inform a large part of his arc over the next few seasons.

We see the inequality of the Cairheinin system (and then more blatently at the dinner party). Unsurprisingly the Cairheinin separate their health care by wealth and power, and it sounds like the poor ones may not even have a garden to walk around in? The Two Rivers doesn’t really have this type of inequality, and some of the first things Rand does in the books as the Dragon Reborn is make the elite start treating the poor and lower classes more fairly.

And of course we get PTSD and mental illness. Both PTSD and fears of going mad are important for Rand later, so this early introduction helps define the stakes for him.

It was such a short scene, and I’m sure there are other details those with more skill could expand on (the horse that Rand sets upright? the color palate?). I just really appreciated how much the writers crammed into an original character to help lay the groundwork not just for this season but for seasons (hopefully) to come.

Healing Takes Time — Adaman x M!Reader

💎 — Hisui is a dangerous place and injuries ranging from minor to severe are all too common. So Adaman’s not exactly a stranger to presiding over loved ones on bed rest.

💎 — Doesn’t mean he’s good at it, though.

💎 — Mai reminds him that the slow passage of time is just as important as things that happen in the quick, efficient manner that he prefers as well. It’s not a slight from Mighty Dialga being displeased, it’s just the nature of time. But he can’t just stand around when it comes to your health! Yes, rest takes time, he’s aware, but all this waiting feels the same as doing nothing to him.

💎 — Mai basically has to keep him away from you constantly because he’s always fretting over you, which is definitely sweet of him even if it’s not exactly helpful, but it is funny to watch the cartoonish shenanigans of Mai trying to constantly shoo Adaman away from the medical tent.

💎 — Even if what you’re recovering from isn’t serious, you’d never be able to guess that from how he behaves.

💎 — He essentially becomes your primary nurse and seldom lets you out of his sight if he can help it (thanks to Mai being the reasonable one, he usually can’t).

💎 — Once things calm down though, after the first two or three days when your recovery progress is becoming quite apparent, he’s less frazzled and more willing to leave you be. He just can’t help that impatience winning out, though, sometimes.

💎 — He’ll be there to help you with maintaining yourself while you rest, sitting beside your futon while you recover, brushing your hair so you don’t have to, keeping a fresh cold compress on you at all times if the problem is that you’re sick and feverish, changing your bandages if it’s an injury, all that.

💎 — If you’re okay with it, he’ll also happily bring his Leafeon to see you for some good old fashioned grass-type aromatherapy. I know Leafeon can’t actually learn the move aromatherapy, but it’s clearly made of plants and must have some kind of floral/herbal smell.

💎 — And since we know he is a house husband in the making guy with an interest in cooking, you bet he’ll be bringing you all manner of home-cooked meals.

💎 — He’s so dutiful, oftentimes he doesn’t go back to his own tent for the night and will instead fall asleep on the cold floor next to your futon.

💎 — Adaman is very sure to keep you abreast of all goings-on in the clan, usually nothing much of interest, but he does uncharacteristically bring you all sorts of gossip. It’s not that he likes to gossip, but while you’re bedridden he can’t think of much to entertain you with so this is what he’s settled on. And also he probably would like to vent his multitude of frustrations with Melli specifically because you just know 3/5 instances of drama involve some kind of category 5 Melli moment.

💎 — Once you start to recover and leave your bedridden state, he’s still just as present as he was before.

💎 — If it was an injury he’s always making sure you’re not overexerting yourself, and if it’s something that happened to your legs, he’s volunteering to help you walk around so you don’t put too much pressure on the injury.

💎 — For illness he’ll always be on your case about taking whatever medicines/remedies you were instructed to, because your recovery has already taken ages (to him) already, and he’s not sure he can bear seeing you sick for much longer.

💎 — Regardless of the reason you’re bedridden, he’ll always give you a kiss on the forehead when he enters the tent and before he leaves—though if you’re sick, he musters the self control to wait. Ideally he can keep that up, but he might get a little impatient… oh well. He needs to remind you how much he loves you, and if he ends up getting what you have, he knows you’ll care for him just as dutifully as he did you.

No problem! ^^ I mean, with AI and all, things have changed a lot since my previous plans fell away. It's a bit stressful to say the least... But I don't want to stop drawing, and I really want to dive deep into storytelling (I also can't wait to share my SNS stories with all of you 💕) so, we'll see!

And yeah, sure!

Color theory is a massive subject though, is there anything in particular you want to know more about? For me personally, I think the best thing you can do is to simplify your learning process. I've ignored color theory for a long time because I found it complicated and overwhelming and always just thought I'd wing it. The main reason being that color is relative: it changes depending on the impact different interactions have with the subject: material, color temperature, transmissions, reflections, etc. And my brain can't really handle "well, it depends" when it comes to learning new things. But the result is obvious; I think some of you may be able to see at which point I finally started to learn it a bit on my own journey. ><

Of course, you’re completely free to use whichever colors you want and experiment to develop your own style regardless of theory, but understanding how colors interact is helpful, and in some cases, crucial. Some things are just more visually appealing together and more effective to suit the mood you're going for. (Look for complementary color theory, here's a helpful tool.)

I think, above anything else, the best thing you could do is start learning how to cell-shade until it becomes easier. (It's the art/shading you see in anime, webtoons, and comics.) This also helps you with forms and shapes.

Open a document, add a screenshot, and take your color picker to study the color wheel and take notes on saturation, hue changes, and light. 

I've done this many times until things just started to 'click' in a way. But take your time, it can take a while. For some this also might be overwhelming, in which case I recommend doing this while studying the theory together.

When it becomes easier and you want to take it a step further, then look at the famous ball that explains other lighting:

And honestly, also take your time with this.

Take any term, learn what it means and implement it one by one until it starts to make sense.

One thing I'd certainly learn first, or which one has been the most helpful for me is learning about color temperature. Since color is relative, shadows/highlights can become cooler or warmer (it's the shift in hues), which is a much more efficient way to look at it than determining whether something is just darker or not. When I started, I learned greyscale values at first, and although it helped me a lot regarding readability, it never taught me any of this, setting me back for a while. If you want to learn more about the theory itself, I'd recommend: "Color and Light" by James Gurney, and follow along while reading with a document to experiment. Or watch YouTube tutorials for free, but definitely scribble along while you do so! I think, even if you watch YouTube tutorials, it's important to have some kind of goal, or steps you want to take, otherwise you'll drown in all the information. So, this is what I'd recommend:

Cell shading (like in anime, webtoons or comics)

Learn about color temperature and experiment with casual scribbling.

Study the relevant terms which you see in the circle (sometimes they have slightly different names though. "occlusion shadow" can also be referred to as "ambient occlusion")

Implement them one by one into your art/illustrations if you want. Maybe just add highlights at first, then maybe consider focusing on the terminator if you're interested.

Practice a lot and whenever you find something you like, use the color picker to see what happens to the colors. You don't have to copy it, but you can copy the changes within your color wheel and see what happens!

Like I said, it's an incredibly large subject, but I hope this can at least give you some direction ^^💕

Being a Luciferian that originated on the right side and still works with Archangel Michael and others is such a trip sometimes. Michael is so fucking intimidating all the time. Like, I know we’re cool, but lord forfuckingbid we ever aren’t. He’s extremely kind and gentle but oh so fucking authoritative and powerful. Like you can just feel it stinging off of his eyes, you know how much strength he has and how willing he is to use it if necessary. The thing i love so much about the myth of Michael and Satan is that he was said to have been far weaker than Satan in fighting prowess, but his loyalty to God made him the victor in the end. So fucking cool and scary and COOL. The idea of a soldier so fucking committed to his crown that he will fight until death to honour his God is amazing.

(my) Lucifer and Michael have absolutely no problems with each other, although Michael is always very disciplined, committed to his purpose and doesn’t entertain any none sense, he still seems to appreciate something about Lucifer. He is a guardian of truth and light, regardless of what name it holds. He appreciates Lucifer’s affinity for knowledge, but knows very well that his knowledge can be used for destruction and “evil”. He knows that Lucifer has an incredibly important role to play, but that doesn’t mean he’ll entertain any of the shenanigans that come with it. In fact, he’s dedicated to managing those shenanigans so we can all enjoy the positive aspects of Lucifer’s light. Thanks, Michael.

I only really call upon Michael if I need some serious help with cleansing or protection. He’s the guy to call if you need to be kicked in the ass, staring a new and daunting project, trying to get fit. He is damn efficient at what he does and he doesn’t stop short. If you call upon Michael you better be damn prepared to get what you asked for.

As a Luciferian that embraces the left hand path I’ve always felt as though Michael looked at me as someone he always wants the best for, but he also may disagree with some of my methods. He’s never considered or treated me like I was one of those evils to be vanquished, but rather, he knows very well what ways I could improve myself and would purify me if he was given the opportunity. But he’s also aware of the inherent flaws of humanity and doesn’t force us to improve unless we ask him to.

In some hypothetical scenario where Lucifer and I broke up (don’t tell him I said this) Michael would definitely be the guy I’d call on for help. i appreciate him a lot and I am very grateful for all that he has ever helped me with. I love the role he plays as the ultimate older brother of all the other angels. He watches over them and ensures that they’re safe at all times. Ready and happy to lead his family towards truth and light.

I’m very happy he doesn’t hate me lol. It’s something I worried about a lot as a kid, but when I finally got the opportunity to get to know him I learned that he doesn’t really hate anyone. He’s so much more than just an angel to carry out violence against his unjust siblings, in fact I’d say that’s one of his least proud roles, something he doesn’t really enjoy doing. He is a protector of children and a reminder that strength should always be used to help those without it.

plus, in one of the only dreams I’ve ever had about him, his armor was magnificent. Michael is probably one of those dudes that you absolutely should not lust over but… he looked real good just saying.

haha thank u for ur thoughts on kjsr ask! there's like no fics or in game content for her so i have been starving sm. i love her so much, wish more people got into her character. being a picky reader AND a kjsr fan is torture, since it's hard (for me personally) to find fics that fit the way i have analyzed her. they always write her off as cold when i feel like she justs awkward cause of her lack in experience in socializing.

for college au, your analysis was on spot. thats like how i exactly imagined a college student kjsr to act. i wonder how she'd handle having a complete opposite of her as an s/o? like she's always organized, she probably has the habit of keeping her stuff in their usual positions as she sits by her chair for lectures. being raised by a military family and even attending a military school, would def make her unable to do things out of order. so having an s/o whose actions are always spontaneous and last minute would def place her in an uncomfortable spot. since imo i think of her as someone who hates unusual things, she wants everything in order. so if she met R whose constantly changing things and is the complete opposite of order, i wonder how would she even warm up to that person.

she def be irritated at first meeting with them, and maybe even R would also be annoyed with how she has a stick up her ass 😭

having an extremely disorganized partner would be roughhhhh for her i won’t lie. sara is about efficiency and quality—she’d absolutely loathe pushing things to deadlines and last minute work. and having a messy workspace… it’d give her a headache. also she’s definitely a clutter hater. everything in her room and on her desk has a practical purpose. if it doesn’t, it goes in the trash. as for spontaneity, i think sara would be able to adapt, but i think she would be really uncomfortable as you said. if it’s for the sake of like a project she would bite back her discomfort and press on, but if it’s like a casual thing i think she may just straight up decline. she acts this way because i believe she likes feeling prepared for things and knowing what she’s getting into. this doesn’t mean she’s against learning something completely new, but she just wants to know what she’s getting into yk? she’s very analytical. she likes plans and stuff because it gives her structure and purpose, which is very important to her because outside of that she doesn’t know what to do. she is so far behind in self-development that she clings to outside sources of structure (in canon, this is religion and the military).

so all that being said, having an s/o who abhors structure is going to be incredibly difficult for her. again, she’d be fine with trying new things, as long as her s/o tells her maybe a day in advance saying something like “hey, tomorrow we’ll do a surprise activity. bring x/wear x”. she still doesn’t know exactly what’s going to happen, but she knows there’s going to be a surprise, and she can physically and mentally prepare for it and that’s fine for her. if it’s true, pure, spontaneity she’d very much be thrown off her rhythm. it’s possible she’d even be a little irritated, since she could also have other things planned. all this being said, if there’s an emergency, she won’t crack under that pressure either. if anything, she works better, immediately forming a response plan in her head. am i making sense? i’m just rambling atp lmao i’m so sorry anon. tldr; my personal opinion is that sara would be very poorly compatible with a spontaneous person. she may not be able to even start being their friend to eventually become a romantic partner. ofc, this is my own take, so if u see that this can work, then indulge in it !!

Admittedly, the short answer to the question of "who's going to try to catch an arrow out of the air before it hits them" is Everyone in Academy Days, and a nice 1/3 of the cast of Kostas.

But:

Cole (academy days): definitely going to try, too terrified of failure before an audience, going to risk expulsion to get his hands on weaponry in increasingly secure, secret areas until he accidentally discovers, like, the secret black powder labs, files this away for later because it's obviously more important to learn how to catch an arrow out of the air. Perfects skill. Tells no one. Realizes like a year later he really needed somebody to be shooting the arrow towards him rather than firing it up in the air.

Nika (academy days): no, this is stupid, what possible use could you get out of it, it's insanely superior to just get out of the way of arrows, yes he's going to practice a little, of course (a week later has so obsessively worked on the skill that he's worn out five shooting partners, been grazed by six arrows, and has completely put his back out of whack for any task of import).

Faer (academy days(I know you haven't met him yet but he's there)): was probably one of Nika's five shooting partners, probably responsible for two grazings because he refused to admit he was too tired to go on practicing.

Aspen (academy days): much more efficient just to whack the arrow out of the way. Soon runs out of people to practice with because what he actually ends up practicing is whacking the arrow out of the way and closing and/or chucking his weapon at his opponent before they can fire again

Orga (academy days): probably just gets shot actually

Hal (Academy Days): Goes along to all the practices, does one or two rounds of catching, immediately notices that the over/under odds heavily favor most of his classmates 1) not achieving the feat and 2) getting grievously injured in the process so he's really just there to keep tally and keep them at it until he squeezes a few extra ranks out of it.

Most of the braile-breith cadets have to teach themselves to shoot first.

Most of the country cadets have already tried this or something similar and are either too smart to try again or too dumb not to

Nika (Kostas): Actually uses this in battle once, immediately becomes legendary, goes apoplectic the first time he catches his soldiers trying to practice (legendary status increases)

7 Terrible Study Habits To Quit Immediately

Not Making To-Do Lists

If you’re going into a study session without a plan or to-do list regarding what you’re going to study, you’re not properly maximizing your time. 

I usually start working on homework assignments as soon as school is over; but before I actually start, I review the day’s classes and make a list of the assignments I have to do.

It’s also helpful to prioritize so you can efficiently finish your homework. I usually do this on my laptop with digital sticky notes (like the image below), but you can also use a physical planner and to-do lists.

Making lists and setting goals doesn’t just apply to homework, though. Whenever you’re having a study session or attending a lecture, come prepared! Always preview the work beforehand and make a to-do list of important things you’ll learn or will go over.

Writing to-do lists will help you organize your tasks while studying, and is a great study habit to build to effectively tackle your busy study life. 

Not Prioritizing

Prioritizing comes hand in hand with making to-do lists, and it’s key to studying productively without feeling burnt out. 

Once you’ve got your to-do list written out, analyze each task and determined which are the most important and urgent. These could be based on a variety of factors, like:

Due date

Time it will take to complete

Percentage of your grade

Difficulty

Whether you’ll be collaborating with someone

Once you’ve ranked each task on your to-do list (don’t worry, it will become easier as you do this more often), you can get to work with a sense of purpose and structure.

Having structure has always been one of my top study habits and has helped me stay productive, and I hope you’ll try it as well!

Having Your Phone Near

Your phone is likely your biggest distraction while studying. It just holds so many interesting things, especially social media and entertainment. These will distract you and cause you to procrastinate or multitask while studying, both terrible study habits.

It’s not easy to break your phone addiction completely, but physically keeping your phone away can definitely help. When your phone is in another room, you won’t be exposed to constant notifications and will then stay focused and productive while studying.

However, if you find extreme difficulty in separating from your phone, you can begin by turning off social media notifications. Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, etc. can be hard to quit once you open them, so avoid doing so in the first place by turning off notifications.

Looking & Not Seeing

I used to take notes by reading the textbook and copying down whatever I thought was important. I highlighted terms, underlined names, drew some pictures… but the entire time, I didn’t really understand what was going on.

Whenever you’re taking notes, annotating a document, reading an essay, or learning something new in general, actively see and understand, not just look and accept.

This means that you should think about what you’re learning, pose questions to yourself and/or the teacher, make connections with your previous knowledge, and overall put thought into what you’re learning.

Just looking and not seeing is a study habit you should quit immediately, as it is a complete waste of time and effort on your part. Only when you actively use your brain to understand and form connections will the information stick.

Studying In Bed

Your bed is where your body associates with rest and play, and your mind will not be focused enough for you to study productively and effectively. Therefore, what you should do is to study in a designated study space like your desk.

However, it’s important to note that you should only study at your desk as well, and not watch movies, go on your phone, etc. Only when you clearly separate spaces for work/rest will your body and mind make the same associations.

So get up and off your bed and move to a desk or table the next time you’re studying, then jump back when you want to rest; be sure to make this a habit!

Procrastinating

Procrastination is one of the most common bad study habits students have. When you get intimidated by your work or distracted by something fun, you often end up procrastinating for more than you intended.

But it’s not impossible to beat procrastination! One of the best tips I have is to plan ahead and break things down. Similar to making to-do lists, doing these 2 things will give you structure and actionable steps, which will make everything seem easier.

Relying On The Textbook

The last bad study habit that many students don’t realize is their complete dependence on the textbook. No textbook is perfectly exhaustive and comprehensible, so it’s important to utilize outside resources as well.

Though reading the textbook can be of great help, you sometimes need more information (or simply more opinions) to fully comprehend something. Therefore, a good habit to build would be to search around more.

Here are some resources you can use other than the textbook to learn about a certain topic:

Your teacher or classmates

Wikipedia (great for people and historical events)

Britannica (great for people, concepts/ideas, and events)

YouTube (best for math and science concepts)

Quora (best for abstract/opinion-based ideas)

Once you break these 7 bad study habits, you’ll be ready to become a better student and tackle your studies with no trouble.

Short Story: The Ice Queen

“Chichioya! Chichioya!” You chirp excited, bundling your fists on the beautiful, silky kimono you wore and lifting the fabric above your feet enough so you can run more efficiently. Where to? To the front door as the Upper Moon 2 slowly opened it and shut it as quiet as possible to avoid attracting any of his followers’ attention. He just wanted some time alone with the cute demon he loves dearly before dealing with them

Douma has been gone for quite a while. Two whole days and you hated when your beloved father was gone for so long. He usually took a few hours in his “important business meetings” but you knew whatever he was doing was necessary. You cry out joyfully and hold your arms up wide to help Douma lift you up easier

His gorgeous rainbow eyes brightened at the sight of you and his lips curl into a instinctive smile. He can’t help himself but feel intense joy in your presence as he scoops you up when he drops down and cuddles you to his chest firmly, rubbing his nuzzle in your hair affectionatley.

“Chichioya! Watch me! I have something to show you!” You chirp out again equally joyous, lifting your head off his shoulder as you two silently hugged for a few seconds. You loved his warmth and he loved yours as well

“What is it, Doki?” Douma asked in response, completely interested as he replaces you on his hip so he could let you get more comfortable before he makes another choice. He didn’t know what was in your mind but now his attention was peaked and focused on you

Douma’s head tilted like a curious little kitten, he decided to bring you over to his throne in a mere blink as he watched you hold out your hands, palm flat and concentrate intently on the snowy-white skin. After a few seconds, a white bunny dropping snowflakes materialised and hopped away, circling you two before disappearing into a thin rain of snowflakes

Douma almost exploded in cheers and would have awoken his followers if he didn’t bite down on his lip. He always made jokes about you being his daughter, but he never thought you’d actually have so many similarities to him. His dead heart was being brought back to life in the very moment as he pumped his free fist up in celebration whilst you turned to face him, waiting for his response

“That’s simply wonderful, Doki! You’re like a little ice queen!” The older demon happily proclaimed, holding his own hands out and producing a palm-sized ice statue of a Buddhist woman in perhaps milliseconds, something he was capable of doing so fluently, he didn’t even need to focus on it.

You always liked his Demon Blood Art, you find his ice so pretty and now that you can produce sentient snowflake beings, you and your adoptive father are gaining all the more matching qualities

One good thing happened after another. Day by day went past after the cute little incident with the snowflake bunny presentation, and something different happened when Douma brought you over to the main dining hall for another dinner with his followers. As you watched the followers eat their not-so-appealing looking human food and talk to a few of them on occasion atop the more quiet Douma’s lap.

One of the ladies, all of the sudden, yelped out in surprise, attracting attention of the many people onto her as she cleared her throat audibly to compose herself as spoke on a shaky voice.

“L-lady Dokusha… your eyes just changed” She remarks gently and nervously. You titled your head in confusion, mirroring Douma well as you answer her with a sweet, usual smile. “Human eyes can’t change, silly! Maybe, it’s just the lighting?” You answer with that unbreaking positivity you’re known in the temple for, though, you knew exactly what she was talking about

It felt only like hours after you showed Douma your self-developed snowflake technique but it had been weeks. You realised you had another ability, alongside the snowflake bunny.

Shapeshifting! You wanted more than anything to take after your beloved father, you want to be exactly like him so you tried your best to mimic him. Though, acting wasn’t enough for you, you wish you shared his blood

Though, your bland purple eyes didn’t match his and his jokes about how close you are to rainbow radiated in your mind as you stared at the tall window in the throne room, sitting in front of it. Your wishes came to true, like a wishing star granting when the purple begin mixing with fluid colours of red, orange, yellow, green and blue. In no time, your eyes had the same colour mix and pattern as Douma. Though, you couldn’t recreate the Kanji for some odd reason

However, it didn’t bother you much. You squealed in excitement, so loud that a follower came into the room to check up on you as she was worried you were hurt. No, you were beyond from hurt. Learning about your shapeshifting ability was one of the best days of your demonic life as you knew exactly what you should do

Surprise Douma with it so you begun practicing whenever he was away. Sure, you could practice with him but he is ten times faster than you, he’d spot the switch instantly so your plan set into motion and this single night was putting all the jigsaw pieces together smoothly

Douma frowned confused with a cute undertone as he begun speaking, his followers instantly bowed at the sound of his deep, powerful voice. “Please do eat, I wouldn’t want any of you be famished. I’m certain it was a lighting trick, my dear” The mentioned young lady bowed a lot lower then the others and nodded frantically, thankful for her leader acknowledging her needs

“Thank you, sir. May the gods bless you for your kindness, sir” She sung out praises like she breathed, quickly returning to her meal as you laughed lightly. You found the followers so interesting as Douma found the followers irritating but, he tried to keep all of them alive for your sake. Though, he must provide you two with recent dinner at some point

Douma instinctively faked a smile, from what you saw as you quickly tapped on his hand, after shuffling back a little to get more comfortable. You wanted his full attention but you needed to get out of the human followers’ sight as to not reveal your demon nature

“Yes, my dear?” Douma asked as he responded to you in no time, you pointed to the throne room and he knew exactly what you supposedly wanting. One of the many plushies he had his followers make for you. Douma picked you up in his mighty arms and bowed lightly at his followers as he rose, reassuring them he will return after picking something up for you.

It felt pathetic slowing down his pace enough to look like a human walking away but he did it, just to further fool his moronic followers. Though, he simply hated it

Entering the throne room and shutting the door, you swung your hands up and slapped his cheeks together with your smaller palms. Douma stopped moving altogether, hand still on the wooden door frame as he looked down at you, locking eyes silently.

His whole world shifted when the missing colours of the rainbow begun mixing with your signature purple, and in seconds, your eyes matched his perfectly. As if he had given you his irises

Douma basically imploded on the spot, much like he did before with your brand new BDA demonstration. His pride was endless, his love was overflowing.

He never thought he’d see the day where his beloved daughter become so much like him. He practically threw you above his head with a genuine smile tearing up his face, he loved everything about you and he loved all these surprises you were spoiling him with

“You can— Wow! Doki, I can’t do that! You can change your eyes?!” Douma cries out surprised and excited all at once, such emotion coming out of the Upper Moon 2 was originally thought to be nonexistent at first as he had no emotion prior to meeting you. You’ve brought him more than a another good reason to live, but a good reason to feel something

“See! Now my eyes are just like yours, Chichioya!”

mimi if you don’t mind me asking a job related question, may i? first of all i’m sorry your department chief if being such a dunce. if you’ve already planned for the time off, then enjoy it! life is so unpredictable, control what you can to do what makes you happy!

second, i don’t know if you’ve mentioned it before but what’s your speciality and how has your residency been? i’m someone who’s starting the path to medicine myself and sometimes i feel like it’s too late, i’m already in my mid twenties and my friends that i know that have gone to med school are already on their third or final years. i’d be 30-31 before i even became a resident and 35+ before i became an attending and sometimes it feels like that’s a little late, do you think it’s still worth it? i know medicine is time consuming but it really is the only thing that interests me.

dlfjmalsdfj i'm trying to be part of two departments so it's been like a super complicated road cuz i'm not only trying to have a dual appointment (because i'm going to be double boarded) but a lot of admin stuff changed so it's really been such a thing

for context, i went to a med school that was honestly quite highly ranked without doxxing myself and a good portion of the incoming class my year was nontrad- as in they were not straight out of college, and many had other careers first

the oldest guy i think was in his 30s but a good portion of those people were in their late 20s, including one guy who started med school at 29 and went into cardiothoracic surgery for residency so he'll truly be in training forever but like honestly you start to practice even when you're in residency and it's lifelong learning

you also have to account for the fact that mdphds are also like 4 years older than everyone else!!!

it's not uncommon at ALL for residents to be in their early 30s when starting, in fact that's more typical lol. yes i graduated residency at age 30 but i'm actually the youngest of my graduating class and definitely in the younger quartile nationwide for this specialty, most of the 3rd years who were traditional med students are my age rn

residency was honestly very good for me but i matched well in a chiller specialty. radiology is not physically taxing, it's more intellectually taxing than anything to make up for the less long hours, but you do have to be relatively good at studying even more so than the average medical student and efficiently so. you also basically spend a shit ton of time being independent in a way you don't with other clinical specialties (like i spend a lot of time on equal footing with attendings in other specialties, even as an r2 on call) but at the same time you constantly feel stupid because the attendings will simply always be better than you, and when you're a junior attending, the senior attendings will be better than you.

i liked radiology cuz i'm extremely curious and i like to know everything. but i sacrificed closer relationships with patients for it. i still caught up with it because of one of my subspecialties and that can be discussed more privately, but it does feel different from traditional med school rotations.

i think if you love medicine, it doesn't matter how old you are. you also really are not older in the grand scheme of things at all, like truly this is average what you've told me and like a lot of people will literally be doctors in their home country and will come and retrain in the us (my godmom did this, a fellow in my prior fellowship that's there now was an entire cardiologist and is now retraining in radiology) like it's fine

literally in your 30s you are simply starting to live no matter what people online will say, you still have SO much life to live and don't have to settle for getting in one groove for the next 50 years or so of your life. some of that could be television, some of that could be growing up in a small town, some of that could be whatever community you may have come from but there is SO much that's just beginning. so if it's medicine you want to do, do that. if it's literally anything else, please do that. you have PLENTY of time.
