I think a very normal amount about Crocodile and Mihawk genuinely seeing Buggy's value. Genuinely appreciating his dream and his sense of adventure. Mihawk (bored-to-death swordsman who desperately needs something new) and Crocodile (the man who only cares about business because the last time he wanted something a kid with flip-flops sent him flying) seeing that the clown they're only using as bait and punching bag is actually the one with the biggest pirate heart. They realize he has charisma and followers for a reason and it's the fact that his "fake it til you make it" persona is actually built above his true dream. The words of fake confidence he speaks are actually words he genuinely wants to believe, but always fears will backfire because he doesn't have anything to rely on (unlike Shanks. Because even if Shanks doesn't need to rely on anything, he used to wear the trust and love of their captain in his head and everyone else supported him to be his legacy). So they end up seeing that they can do more with him. Together. Mihawk and Crocodile might have the money and the people but Buggy has the dream. They can go higher. They can be more than what they thought they were. Buggy shows them this side of himself between tears and sudden yelling and they have to admit that... They used to have dreams. Long forgotten ones. And okay, Buggy might not be the king of the pirates. They're so not saying that. But they can go higher.

They see this side of him and they never say it out loud (and even if they did, Buggy wouldn't even notice because he's busy begging them not to kill him. Which, y'know, fair) but something changes inside of them. Perhaps it's a faint, tiny sense of protectiveness. Maybe affection. Some type of appreciation they can't quite name because it would be too embarrassing for them to even say they care for this clown but- But it's there. Something.

So they keep Buggy around and he starts to feel less like a punching bag and more like somebody they care about. Kind of. And you know what? Maybe the damn clown can become the king of the pirates if he has already made the impossible happen once.

whenever i get too sad pondering the soul crushing tragedy of txf, i think about all moments we never got to see of mulder and scully laughing with each other until they couldn't breathe. like those moments with your bestie where you literally cannot stop laughing at something stupid and then you almost calm down but make eye contact and lose it all over again. abs aching. tears in your eyes. smacking the other person on the shoulder. i think this happened a lot with them. they are just two silly best friends.

Wrote this down the other day because I was out and I knew I was going to go get when I got home.

Anyway.

So like when I get bored or I’m waiting on something I’ll spell out my siblings names there’s 5 of them so it helps pass the time. But like I’ll repeatedly spell them out till I can’t anymore, also helps me not overthink.

But anyway, that, but with Bruce. Like he gets in a bad fight probably pinned under rubble or in general unable to contact or he’s just waiting for assistance to get him and he just he spells his sons names over and over and over again. Starts with Dick, then Jason, then Tim, and ends with Damian. But like it’s not just the first names it’s the last ones too. Richard Grayson, Jason Todd, Timothy Drake, Damian Wayne. Even though he’s in pain even though he can’t move he keeps spelling their names because he can’t fail them again, his robins, he can’t fail them again, because he’s already failed them once in many ways. So he keeps saying them, keeps spelling till his words slur, and even then he keeps going, even when his eyes are half open and he’s staring at nothing. Even when he can’t feel the rest of his body he keeps spelling the names till help gets there.

Mmmmmmm yeah don’t mind me typing over here I’m not doing anything important nothing at all.

I love when a team soothes a character.

I love when the character is hurt and pained with glossy eyes on the edge of tears when their friends get to them.

I love the shushing and holding and murmuring and gentle touches.

I love when the character gasps for air, pushing themselves to speak, trying desperately to get words out, and the team just gently rebukes them, tells them not to speak.

The character remembers everything that happened, the fear, the danger, the threatening words from their attacker. They have to let the team know, have to tell them, have to get it out now.

They try desperately to get the words out, gasping for air and choking on it, almost on the verge on tears as they sputter incoherently.

But the team, they know it’s important, they know they’ll need to be told. But they also know right now the character needs calm, needs to be calm, above all else.

So they shush them calmly against their pleas and protests, tell them to relax, to be calm, soothe them. The character nearly bursts into tears but they hold them softly and tell them it’s alright, it’s alright, right now they need to sleep.

The character, amidst their tears, is lulled to bed amongst the rocking of the teammate and their own strained pleas.
