After he's reunited with Splinter and Raph, Mikey finds the little roles that neither of them have filled very well, such as cooking, and cleaning, and makes sure he excels at them almost obsessively out of this fear that if he's not useful, then he will be discarded. Future Mikey works tirelessly as the only brother with his mystic powers still intact, to the point that his body is so overworked by the time of the movie, he looks like he's moments from shattering apart, only held together through his own force of will.

Leo: Doubt

Leo has lived his life being ordered around and having his memories and personality altered. Even once he is free, his emotions are almost as erratic without Kitsune's influence, than they were while he was under her control (at least until his own cleansing ritual). His instinctual gut reaction to use most violent tactic first, clearly makes his family uneasy. So when Raph tries to get Leo to act as co-leader, Leo is very hesitant. He doesn't think he should be trusted with such a responsibility, but learns he can trust if he goes too far, his brothers will stop him. Future Leo has a really hard time with raising Casey. After Raph's gone, Leo doesn't trust any of the decisions he's now having to make solo, and he certainly doesn't think he can be a guiding force for good for a young child. Casey needs a teacher who will shape him into a strong warrior. Leo learns as Casey grows, that being the boy's Sensei is not the same as being his Master.

Raph: Regret/Guilt

Raph blames himself for almost every horrible thing his brothers and father have gone through. He's recounted the night that Leo and Mikey were taken, and gone over it a thousand times in his head, trying to work out how it could've gone differently. All the amazing things he's done by bringing his family together--being the stable bedrock that they can grow into a true family under--none of that feels like it'll ever make up for the times in the past where he failed to protect them. Raph takes on the job of shield because he wants to make sure nothing else ever hurts his brothers again, and doesn't care if hurts him instead. Future Raph is constantly putting his brothers' lives before his own. Unfortunately, doing it one too many times results in a devastating loss for the Resistance, when their Leader sacrifices himself, and the chain of command practically falls apart for months before it can recover.

my personal emotional devastation aside, tho, i do think there are some parallels to be drawn between episode 9 of vice versa and episode 9 of last twilight, between puen on an island finally accepting his life in the original universe and by the end "gaining sight" on who talay really is, and day on a mountain finally accepting going blind and having his last sight being mork. i also think it's interesting that in last twilight (the ost) at one point there's the line "my heart cherishes the memory of us" while in vice versa the very last line of friend credits' second movie is "though we aren't together tomorrow, you're always here in my memories". like idk if it's a reach but both shows are about seeing when you can't really see (not just in the literal physical sense) and acceptance and carrying this love that helped you through it all with you and i just think someone with a brain activity currently higher than my own could make some connections!!!!!!!!

i personally did like the sex scene (i've talked about it here a little if you're interested), but i think i also get what you mean. if it were for me we would definitely have gotten a 17 minutes long one take focused on day's hands as he traced every part of mork's body starting from his face and slowly making his way down to his feet. but at the same time i wonder if it would have made sense for their first time. i feel like day was already so preoccupied with his sight being almost gone that what he needed in that moment was to get lost in the feelings rather than commit mork's body to memory. and who knows, last twilight has already broken p’aof’s habit of having only a couple of kisses in his shows, maybe it will make him give us another intimate scene too!!!

I like book 6 for a lot of reasons but the biggest reason is the absolutely fucking inSANE three chapter run in it that is possibly the worst whiplash I've ever gotten from a book. I am of course talking about the Snake Eyes - Flesh And Blood - The Agatha Quartet run. So we've got

So surely the second half is some cool fight scene ri WRONG. ARIC. suddenly turns into (in my opinion) the most devastating chapter in book 6. we get some of the best Japeth Dialogue (tm) (oh??? you genuinely actually would've like given up the crown for him? Aric essentially tells him the best course of action is just to kill himself? right! okay!). it's not actually Aric and japeth like works it out or whatever but okay. okay. I'm prepared this time. I mean, I DO think too many characters have blue eyes. Between Dante, Laurance, Garroth, Katelyn, Zane - thats already the majority of the friend group.

I dont mind the blue hair/blue eyes combo, but Dante AND katelyn having it is a bit much 🤷‍♂️ AND they couldve kept Laurances original colour pallet :( I totally get changing the design bc of the skins, but in MYS theres no lore reason for Laur having blue eyes so at least they shouldve been green right??? Im also devastated hes not ginger but alas <\3

I think overtime the girls in the show have less variety, particularly in the hair. No different lengths or anything. I mean, just take Cadenza! She has longass hair in s1 but it eventually gets cut the same length as Kate, KC and Aph. The girl with THE most variety in character design - and probably one of the best designs imo - is Kim, and i literally couldnt tell you a single one of her character traits other than 'possessed'. Her highlights are different and I like her colour pallet.

The guys all look... kinda similar too. But they did well differing them in little ways, like hair partings and such. I do want Laurance's long hair back tho. Jess dont be a coward give us ling hair ginger laurance

I think its very funny that Laurance has ABSOLUTELY NO fashion sense, but i would like clothes to be more consistent! I like Dante's outfit with the button up/button up/shirt combo, even if it was ridiculous it felt in character - although its a shame that after Aarmau was made canon no other character could wear purple or red, because dante looked good in red!! I love Garroth's hawaiian shirt getup and they should bring that vibe back for him for sure.

this isnt so much an issue with character designs because. minecraft. but there arent many different body types. Like, I think Aphmau and Zane are fat, and then Travis has broad shoulders (according to 1 line of dialogue in s1, and hes still buff). and everyone else is just somewhere on the sims4 slider of skinny and strong.

All in all im torn abt Luci because I think its cute for her to be the odd one out (as i said in my If-I-Was-Tasked-With-Rewriting-Mystreet post), but thats clearly not the intention and you kinda forget shes a witch at all. Which would be cool if it was brought up? idk. Her black dress + bow was her best outfit i think. The red eyes and the bright ginger hair is a lot on the eyes and the black is a good combo for that.

TBH, the only Aph outfit I liked was the one from Season 3, but her current skin (non-mystreet) is actually very cute. I like it a lot

People have said this a lot, but one BIG issue i have with the mys designs is the colour pallets. Im a big fan of shows where one character is heavily associated with one colour, and though this doesnt HAVE to be the case for Mystreet, Id like then to be consistent. Kate's colour has always been blue, Travis' colour has always been green, Aph/Aaron Purple/red, Kc pink, zane black/grey, and Garroth is usually blue. but Dante, Laurance, Lucinda, Melissa, etc have had some super inconsistent ones.

One character design that I like across the series is actually KC. Once they know how to pair the pinks and black/white well, they do pretty well with it! Its just a lot of pink and easy to get wrong. but they do well

Travis' also isnt that bad, the outfit of his i really remember was fhe green hoodie and black trousers which felt correct.

To go back to the eye colours, Its fun to see Jess' thought process bc like. almost ALL of her love interests have blue eyes except aaron? idk. food for thought.

This idea was laser projected into my head so here we go.

Do Spider-People get scars after they’ve been bitten? They have increased healing and durability for sure, so most cuts would heal up pretty fast. However my personal headcanon is that even the smallest cut while a Spider-Person is recovering from something big and especially devastating, such as broken bones, sprains, fatal gunshots or knife wounds will scar due to their bodies focusing on repairing those larger wounds.

And also this healing ability isn’t discussed in length but I’d like to add a few of my headcanons about it:

Chronic illnesses, pain and life threatening illnesses like cancer are not cured when a person was bitten by a radioactive spider, however it usually just manages their symptoms and keeps them alive for longer than the average person. For example, if a Spider-Woman was suffering from cancer, it would probably spread and progress slower, but it could still definitely kill her if given time and lack of treatment. Or someone with chronic pain would have less pain on average, but it would definitely still have flareups that would be disabling at times. The symptoms are just more manageable. Also if a Spider-Person got a fatal injury and was able to do superheroing because of the pain being lessened slightly, their healing capabilities would totally focus on the fatal wound leaving them without any assistance for their chronic pain which would all come back very quickly. I really like these ideas because it opens more possibilities for disabled Spider-People and interesting methods of superheroing and being extra careful in fights. “If I get shot I will actually be writhing on the floor in pain and will be open to attack so Im going to install bullet proof padding in my suit” and things like that! ( Which all Spider-People should probably do anyways? )

Also to be clear, if there’s something the human body can’t naturally heal, I don’t think Spider-People would be able to heal it. They heal things like broken bones but it’s just a lot faster than non-superpowered humans. However if they were to be amputated it would not heal. And any injuries that happened prior to the Spider bite, like old scars, etc. wouldn’t be healed. All the healing they get naturally just quickens the process and occasionally acts as a natural mild painkiller.

it's a BIG wip rn as it's a mix of half baked ideas and plot points but here's the general idea

sky and gray would be two brothers who looked after their mother and little siblings in a war devastated town. pickings are scarce and their home has become even more dangerous poisoned food is laid out to cull the cat problem. gray is the more serious and standoffish of the two while sky has no issue making new friends with the local cats, including bumble, turtle, and dove.

it's one day that they find storm, half-beaten and starving, having escaped from the forest after fleeing one-eye's group. they help her out though gray reaaaally isn't happy about giving up food and shelter to a total stranger. storm tries to get them to help her go back and rescue her mate bright from the group but they refuse, even sky who knows the trouble isn't worth it. she stays with bumble and turtle while she's recovering.

storm ends up telling the little group of friends stories about the forest and the cats who live there as well as how one eye has ruined the peace between them.

[this is where im a bit faint on the connection but uhh go with it be nice to me]

my initial idea is that one-eye's group starts expanding to the city and that provokes sky and gray to start actually getting the plot going by fighting back but it's a work in progress! either way uh insert inciting incident here to start the plot.

using dove's connections throughout the area, they gather cats (including the future founders) as well as find agents in one-eye's cats, including lion who begins to grow weary of all the fighting and disillusioned with promises of power. i love the idea of he, jay, and dove form a little family unit after bonding through strategizing which i think serves as a nice contrast to how distant their reincarnations are. they "earn" their reincarnations through what a group team they are in helping organize the resistance against one-eye.

i'd imagine this is where the kittypet versus wild cat shit starts. the house cats can go home whenever they want (and quite frankly don't have to return when the fighting starts) and never worry about food, jealousy and resentment begins to build up from the wild cats who know they'd be culled if they even attempted going near the humans.

during this fighting and organizing, gray and sky begin to change - with gray opening up more to other cats and embracing the community while sky relishes in the chance to lead and excitedly gathers his lead fighters to practice battle strategies and discuss strategy. it's during this time gray notices his brother's favoritism towards the stronger of the group and their rift deepens when jagged has his accident and wrecks his leg.

they take him to jay and midnight after dove tells them about a strange cat who lives in highstones (this is their first meeting with the duo) and while jay manages to heal the leg as best he can, jagged can't properly walk (like in canon). the difference is immediate in his treatment from his brothers: while gray still sticks with him, sky becomes standoffish and no longer includes jagged in his planning.

i'm not sure about thunder here tbh i think storm would act as a surrogate for sky who wanted children and that would be that?

they fight one-eye using the respective talents of each of them (sneakiness, trees, river, etc.) and win and the cats are unsure what to do next. they've gathered together to fight and now that they've won, what do they do now? sky takes the lead and opts to split them up, there's no need for everyone to gather in one location (which realizing now would be neat if it was fourtrees? yay symbolism), why not just move everyone back to their respective homes? while cats are sad to say goodbye they eventually part and, since they've all sort of bonded with one another, split to live in their respective home turfs.

sky takes authority over his group immediately while gray, wind, and gorse all share authority over the moor cats. during this period, sky begins to grow more hostile and starts establishing borders, which causes the other leaders to begin establishing their own borders.

horrified at the deepening rifts between his family and friends, gray tries to protest these developments with his supporters but he's vastly outnumbered by those in the newly formed groups who, as tensions rise on the border, have begun to grow an identity around their allegiances. gray desperately tries to protest this, even going so far as to sabotage battles and attempt to salvage their old friendships but he and his supporters are eventually driven back to the town area they once lived in.

desperate, hungry, and unsure what else to do to try and save the friends he'd gotten so close to: he attempts to plead with them by asking them to come to fourtrees to talk. they all come...with an army and much like in the books, all hell breaks loose.

sky pins his brother, desperate to understand just why why he would sabotage everything they'd work so hard to build. gray glares back, none of this is what they built, this chaos is what sky used to propel himself to the top and as sky sinks his claws into gray's neck, he rasps: "kill me. kill me and live with the memory. then tell the stars that you won."

and sky does and the stars reward him by naming him the first leader of the clans: skystar.

oh man. theoretically in a l4d au luis would've helped develop the green flu yeah? sure it's a naturally occurring virus in l4d canon (maybe. we're not really sure where it comes from cus ceda doesnt say shit but ellis mentions the government using bio-bombs in one of his keith stories so it could be a bioweapon?) but this is an au we can do what we want.

anygays im just imagining leon getting infected. we know better-safe-than-sorry-guy (i call him scout cus his va is the same as scout from tf2) is human when we first find him but experiencing extreme paranoia and some compulsions then a few minutes later he fully turns, going from able to speak and function to choking and growling and fully mutated (either into a hunter, boomer, or smoker) so there's always the possibility of a rapid transformation too. im thinking leon falling behind a bit while theyre walking because he's coughing and chokin and shit n he falls to his knees and luis is all like "bro whats wrong!!" and he gets to watch as leon Turns Before His Eyes. even better if he turns into a hunter cus if you look closely at their models they don't have eyes. we can't be exactly sure what Happens to their eyes when they turn but the two most popular headcanons are both equally brutal-- either Luis has to watch Leon's eyes quite literally melt out of his skull or he gets to watch him claw his own eyes out. Fun!

BUT there's graffiti in one of the safe rooms arguing over how long it actually takes to turn-- whether it's 20 minutes, 2 hours, overnight, or some other wacky chunk of time. so there's also the thought of Leon turning slowly. progressively becoming irritable and irrational and confused and him slipping in and out of conciousness for days until Luis goes to check his temp one day and he fucking Lunges.

and if leon turns and luis makes it out alive imagine the Guilt. he feels awful enough in re4 canon when there's a cure,,, but the green flu mutates too often to develop a proper cure for it. if leon gets infected and he isnt immune then he's just. done. theres nothing that can help him at that point. and luis already feels so goddamn guilty about the millions of people he's killed and now leon's gone too and he cant help but visualize every single person who had somebody ripped from them by his hands.

oh man and if luis has to put leon down? its joever. that man would Never recover. i dont even know if he'd keep trying to survive at that point. maybe just for that shred of hope of developing a cure (even though he knows it'd be damn-near impossible but it's the only thing hes got, dammit) and stopping this whole disaster.

JAEGERS thats it. -mark and cesar get sort of. drafted into testing it out and find out they are drift compatible!! -i think in this au they are besties but. they could be worsties. maybe. perhaps toxic if thats what canon says. but in the origin draft of the au they are besties so im going with that -anyways they fight kaijus for a bit and they are pretty good at it!! until a kaiju attacks their hometown (or something. idk how an ocean beast would get to wisconsin. WAIT lake superior AND lake michgan flank wisconsin i can use this) -okay so. a kaiju comes out of the great lakes and the government is like"???? MAKO MORI. apparently. she watches her brother die + entire county get destroyed -another sidenote: since secar apparently DOESN'T die in canon. maybe he survives in this au?? mark is dead as hell tho :(( -anyways sarah is so so traumatized by that. however she is also VERY FUCKING ANGRY because uh. turns out mark and cesar were not the only ones patrolling winconsin!! thatcher and ruth were meant to be back up but uh. they. did NOT get there in time. and sarah thinks maybe if they had gotten there in time mark wouldn't have died. -speaking of those two. ANOTHER kaiju attacks mandela not too long after altcesar does and um. thatcher and ruth DO go out to deal with it but. ruth gets knocked unconscious during the fight. and thatcher can't wake her up. so half of their jaeger is just powered down and stationary while the kaiju rips its arms off and tears into the cockpit. eventually thatcher realizes he has to evacuate to save himself. he tries to bring ruth with him but he can't. -needless to say. thatcher is DEVASTATED. he feels like a coward, even if he DID follow protocol, and he never really forgives himself for leaving ruth behind. dave supports him through it, but. he never really recovers after that.

-…and fast foward 17 years, to the actual events of the au!! -bps is founded by sarah to um. idk actually i have NO fucking clue what they are doing in this au but it IS just. VERY ILLEGAL. and they get caught -however, the government can find literally nobody to pilot the giant murder death trap robots due to A) how rare a drift link (or. whatever its called im 99% sure its called that) is and B) nobody wants to fucking do that. so they just decided to say "hey. you guys are criminals. BUT if you go in the giant death trap robot AND you can pilot it then we'll forgive your criminal charges!! :)" because of course they would do that -anyways. bps agrees to this. and it turns out jonah and adam are drift compatible!! hooray!! they get to pilot a jaeger together -…which leaves sarah. due to testing her against adam and jonah, the government knows she CAN connect to a jaeger, and pilot one. she just needs a partner. -which is were thatcher comes in. he takes the place of the guy whos brother dies in the movie. -sarah is NOT FUCKING HAPPY about this. the moment she recognizes him she freaks OUT. immediately starts chewing him out. -however, she does have a deal to uphold, and she has to at least TRY to pilot the jaeger with thatcher. so they do a testrun and. it turns out they ARE compatible. -so with that the government goes "okay cool we're sending all of you to the faciltiy (or whatever idk)" and. sarah fights this tooth and nail until she realizes they. really don't give a shit LMAO -so she's stuck with thatcher. and her two idiot coworkers but thatcher is the real issue. -so they get shipped over to the training facility and. start training. -dave and evelin take the place of those two gay scientists. dave has so many kaiju tattoos n shit and evelin is just Normal. just kidding shes weird too shes just better at hiding it lol. evelin is officially his 'assistant' and mentor but dave treats her as an equal. they are silly scientist coworkers -dave and thatcher are also still friends. not sure if its strained or not but i dont think it is they can be silly. besties even. -i also think dave is sarahs estranged but still on good terms uncle. hes is ESTATIC to see sarah!! she hates that hes friends with thatcher but she is literall incapable of being mad at dave so she just takes it out on thatcher instead LMAO -also dave sits thatcher down and is like "y'know i think this is good for you actually. being a mentor figure really helped me w moving on i think you could really bond with my cool awesome neice :D!" "dave she tries to kill me every ten seconds" -anyways the au centers around sarah and her relationship with thatcher from one-sided enemies to eventual found family :)

other things: -adam glows in the dark and is just sort of fucked up. surely this means nothing (he is not entirely human) -oh yeah jude and lynn are killed by the same alternate that kills ruth. i think. or it was six but when thatcher and ruth are sent out altthatcher double teams them and thats why they failed. -vol 2 sort of happens (the girls are fighting) but jonah does NOT die. -dave gets hooked up to a kaiju brain like the guy in the movie and like. his brain implodes a little bit and his eyes bleed but hes (mostly) fine^^ -all of the alternates are kaijus i get to be soooooo silly with designs :3 -dave and sarah lost contact when sarah started bps so they are very happy to reunite -i am just making shit up about a movie i saw a literal decade ago so. um. im probably missing a lot of important stuff but oh well lol. -i also have a barebones alt version of this au where everyone lives and nothing bad happens and they just fight monsters. bc i got sad.

Betrayal and guilt for van, torture and wound for anim and javier

betrayal: definitely yes, with jude. like, the betrayal took everything from him literally everything and everyone in his life. his possessions his friends his organization. but he also loved jude and trusted him so so much and it definitely added salt into the wound. if someone else had betrayed him he wouldve just been pissed and tried to escape his imprisonment but because it was jude he was just thrown into a horrible depression where he was just ready to give up and let himself be executed. van had a lot of surface level friends but he never had anyone he trusted or cared about the way he trusted jude, and hes never loved anyone before, so it really fucked him up.

on the other hand, he did betray bluestone obviously lol. im sure a lot of his coworkers and superiors were very pissed and hurt about what he did which leads to the next

guilt: he really doesnt feel any. every evil deed he commits is justified in his mind as "they deserve it" or "its only fair because im hurting too". he felt like, a normal about of guilt as a kid but since then he really hasnt felt any

torture: so, for anim im not technically sure? in canon, i think harper did sexual torture with them as a part of bdsm, which they didnt really like. in the free bird au where things get a LOT darker and they end up killing him, he does definitely full on torture them. as much of a masochist they are it feels like the sort of thing that would be too much for them. and they wouldnt really torture anyone, when they kill they try to make it quick.

javier hasnt been tortured, like physically. theres the standard mental torture of the Horrors of being in an abusive relationship but he hasnt been traditionally tortured. but, would he torture someone? YES. if they really deserved it. like, if he had the chance he would torture harper. 100%. with his mother it feels different because he has more conflicting feelings there but if he could torture harper he absolutely would. its neat because hes such a calm and kind guy but he finds out the kind of person harper is and actively starts fantasizing about what hed do if he met him. hes kinda silly

wound: anims been wounded in all kinds of ways. they deal with emotional wounds by doing really impulsive and shitty coping mechanisms as a means of distraction. they dont give themself any time to heal and just tries to force themself to move on. this kind of works for physical wounds as well, where theyre impatient to get back on their feet and it causes them to not recover well. their worst physical wound was getting stabbed in the gut and their worst emotional wound was from harper

javier hasnt dealt with a ton of physical wounds, but he would deal with them in the same way he does emotional ones, which is just slinking off like a wounded animal. when hes killed, he just dies on the spot, but i think if he survived for a little longer he would just crawl away to die alone and not devastate his loved ones. his last thought being to spare them of any pain.

but emotionally he is pretty similar. just shuts himself off from everyone because he doesnt want them to see him at his worst. he knows to give himself time to grieve and heal but he doesnt let anyone in during the process. his worst emotional wound would probably be from the ending of his engagement

I was basically constantly crying throughout the And You event

Sure, I was a bit suspicious of Orologia at first, but then they're so genuine and they really just want what's best for us and to minimize suffering and there went the waterworks and then throughout all the different timelines, because I felt so, so bad for them

And oh god, when they were dying

I was physically sobbing when we fought them, in genuine despair and when the Singularity changed the option I had to pause because I was weeping because I was so happy and relieved

I don't usually cry at Gbf events but this one just really destroyed me, it's so good

SAAAAAME SAME SAME SAME!!!!

It's been a long while since i have been ACTUALLY DEVASTATED by a granblue event. I was in SHAMBLE for the whole duration of the event and weeping all my way through it. What a feat.

I remember when we first started to hear about Orologia in like, their journal appearance and then mentions here and there and it was just... what is up with them? and then we got the trailer for the anni and somehow they looked soooo sus in it.

We went in thinking "Logia is def going to be sus" and then before the Prologue is even over you have Logia talk about how they'd do anything to protect you and then have their voice break as they're holding you as a child in their arms because you're so warm and tiny and it's like. oh. oh they love this child. Like, they decided to parent this child. Forever. and from this point forward this was the waterworks, and it got worse at every step.

Having to watch Logia trying so hard to be a good parent to MC. Also seeing how they manipulated fate because they didn't want us to be lonely by having Seox join us early. And then. And then having to watch them constantly locked in a loop in which no matter what, MC dies, and Logia is devastated. And Logia isn't devastated because "without the Singularity the world could turn bad" but because "tHIS IS MY BABY STOP HURTING MY BABY" and i'm just weeping all the tears from my body.

And the fact that they noticed eventually that everything they did to make MC's life easier was the reason MC kept dying... and that they still stubborningly kept trying because they didn't want to sacrifice MC's happiness. That they wanted SO HARD to find another way. One way to keep MC happy AND be by their side AND have them survive. and they couldn't have all three. and they still tried. over and over and over again.

by the end of the first part i was a total mess and i knew for a fact i'd die for Logia, and the set up that Logia was likely to die by the end of the event was the most terrifying thing of all time. I still can't recover from the rollercoaster of emotion.

And then... the final fight. How everything was set up for us to kill them. and the visual representation of fate forcing itself on us by giving us a single choice: killing them. And us proving that we can challenge fate. That we can change what's written. That we can save them.

I JUSTTTT AM NEVER RECOVERING. The event managed to make us love Logia so easily and then threatened to take them away and it was the most emotionally tortured i've been by granblue.

I feel that like, esp with how much emphasis there was on "MC's father has abandoned us and MC is suffering from that and desperately wants to find their father again" just sets up so well, imo, this desire for MC to have a family. Like. Personally i know i get choked up everytime they mention MC is missing their father or wondering why they've been abandonned. So to see someone... So. SO dedicated in being a parent to MC. SO unwilling to abandon MC. is just breaking me. i'm in shamble.

Orologia best character ever i would do anything for them. Glad to see they had their effect on everyone bc man. MAN!

witnessing death:

it's been a long time coming *cue taylor swift's opening song for the eras tour* (i still can't move on, it's so magical. and yes, i just converted to become a Swiftie since Midnights released lol)

a heck alot of things had happened for the past few months. I have reached that 1 year mark of my first job (which I constantly vowed to myself that I wanna be here only for 6 months top... but look where we are now *sigh*), I have went to job interviews and failed also, I had my fits again and again when I thought I have been better, I started driving, went to staycation with my best friends, consistently committed to therapy (yay me) and recently... the passing of my beloved one.

not sure whether I have grieved well or I haven't grief at all, or just that I have turn into *real adult* that I didn't cry as much as 4 years ago... but this is definitely a weird thing. I thought I would be sad. I was sad. when I first heard nenek pengsan, the anxiety button is triggered. I haven't seen her in a long time. How should I live if she passed? I'm not ready to say goodbye. she's the only living grandparent I have atm. I'm not married yet, she shouldn't go so fast. I cried and shivered at all of the possible thoughts.

when the whole chaos happened, from the moment I got a call from my cousin and my aunty crying asking my mom to come back home, all I can think of is dejavu. Like how my late Atuk passed. 6am received a call and I looked at how my mom cried - she never cries.

4 years ago was a very dark year. 2019. we got to know my father has stage 1 kidney cancer (i wasnt even sure whether it's malignant or not) and I took care of him for a whole 1 month of MC at home. that was in January. when he recovered, in April... his father (my late paternal grandfather) went into some heart procedure and passed away. we were informed through text message. I cried my balls out not because I was sad - but because I was thinking of how lonely my father is, both of his parents went away too soon.

then somewhere in june or july, my late grandaunt Umi passed. my mother nursed her for few weeks before at the hospital. 2 days before my birthday in October, my beloved cousin Nurul passed away after battling a long dreading sickness. I was devastated because I couldn't attend her funeral and send her away for the last time. Then in december, my late maternal grandfather passed away suddenly. it all happened in a blink of eye.

so when Nenek was lying on the hospital bed because of multiple organ failure due to severe septic shock, I was stunned. how come someone look so healthy a month ago became like this...state? she only looked healthy because of her energy, but she's also been sick for so long. for someone that had uncontrollable diabetes as nenek had, it is actually quite admirable that she can live long. allahuakbar. mostly I was surprised with myself because I didn't cry when others cried. I saw how my aunties and my mom comforted their dying mother. I saw how Nenek's chest waving and lungs cracking as she struggled to breathe. I saw how one by one people coming to her ears reciting prayers for her to be in peace. I saw how they're preparing themselves for the death. I was an observer, then and now.

I wanted her to wake up and see me, but also I wanted her to rest properly. it's sad really. nobody really saw this coming. it was a week before raya.......... and i really thought we could have raya this year. Nenek took her last breath on 3rd Syawal. I sent her away with much regret but also, relief that she's finally resting.

With all of these happening, im not sure how the adults are doing. Its not like I can ask, ma how you are doing? Damn, to be an Asian (or Malay). I believe that I couldnt be any sadder than the adults are. The adults are having it so much worse yet they could wear a pretend mask so maybe that's why I stopped myself from crying I guess? I just hope the adults can grieve as life goes on. I hate to see trauma dumping by gaslighting/guilt-tripping others just because they couldn't grieve well. But then again, what do I know on how to grief... when I myself couldn't get out of it yet...

hello and happy opening day to uf and all of us! let me introduce you to nathaniel. he’s the heir to the city of ouros located in gleerium and serves as the captain of the city’s army! he personally fought in the final war of the states in eltia so he’s considered a glorious war hero and all that. i’ll leave more details under the cut as well as some wanted connections i had in mind, so please like this post if you’re interested in plotting!

backstory

firstborn son of ouros nobility, a sigh of relief as an heir is secured.

raised by the state’s finest to succeed his father’s legacy (a decorated and well-respected war general)

most people see him as an obedient pushover, and to a certain degree, he is. growing up, he’s learned that his life didn’t belong to him, but instead the nation, and slowly loses his sense of identity and self.

secretly craved freedom and independence, but as he grew into his late teens, it looked more and more impossible.

when he turns seventeen, his fiancee is decided upon, fellow gleerium nobility. neither of them seem very happy about it.

he’s proven himself as a excellent son and future ruler so far, but when he turns eighteen, his father presents him with a test: to go to war.

he’s to take charge of ouros’ main army and lead them into battle against eltia, to conquer and come home victorious, or he would have his right to inheritance revoked.

it may have sounded like an escape if he failed–finally, a chance to be free and live on his own terms, but it devastated him. having lived his entire life dedicating time and effort, blood, sweat, and tears to fulfill his duty as heir, suddenly having that one sureness in his life threatened was terrifying.

who was he if not future baron nathaniel von ouros? after everything he’s done and sacrificed to get here, there was simply no way he could fail now.

and so he takes on the test, to wonderful results. with the combat and tactical training that had been drilled into his head since a young age and a sharp mind that surpassed even the brightest of scholars, he led ouros’ army to victory, and with the help of their allies, he fulfilled their family’s legacy as a military power, putting his name down in history as one of the bringers of gleerium’s peace.

but it wasn’t without loss. brilliant men he dined and laughed with, shared stories around the fire with, he could not return them to their families. he himself had suffered a critical blow to the back as his company was ambushed, and would’ve bled out if not for the healers on site. it took months to recover, but he learned much about commanding from the back lines in that time.

upon returning to ouros, three years after he left, a foot taller and with a deep sadness in his eyes but a warm smile on his lips, he was welcomed home as a hero.

since then, he’s been learning to live life in peace as plans for his marriage draw ever closer. he’s still trying to cope with having lived out life in war, and it isn’t going as smoothly as he would’ve hoped. as with the previous years, he’s simply waiting for the next step in life to be decided for him, the next order to be issued. the very least he can do is make his family, people, and future wife happy.

that all being said, he’s found himself making more and more excuses to travel outside the boundaries of nobility, even going as far as to create an entirely different identity to pass off as a civilian. he excuses it by saying he can protect the people better if he knows how they operate, but deep down he knows it’s because he likes the feeling of escapism it brings.

that is, if everything goes to plan.

* younger brother (around 17yo give or take a year, south korean fc) / the second and youngest son of the ouros family. their father doesn’t consider him worthy of inheritance/the baron title, and however way he reacts to it is fine with me.

* fiancee (female gleerium nobility around his age) / engaged for political/power reasons, first met around 14-16yo, i don’t mind if she’s genuinely attracted to/in love with nathaniel or not, but he will see her as his duty to marry more than anything. he will play the part of a loving fiance/husband though, so it won’t be obvious.

fellow gleerium nobility / he socialized a lot during his teen years so he would know most other nobility by name if anything. we can come up with whatever sort of relationship for them, though!

enemies / having fought wars and all, he’s bound to have enemies, especially ones that were involved in the war with eltia.

comrades / similarly, others he might’ve fought alongside with during the war.

visitors / now that he’s no longer expected to fight, he’s taken to patrolling the streets of ouros on horseback (though his father says it’s not fitting of someone of his standing). a chance encounter between the two of you?

friends who know no better / people who know him as his civilian persona, leo. it says friends but i’m down for any sort of relationship you can have with a dude who’s just a little bit mysterious but ultimately harmless looking.
