finished songbird's route of phantom liberty yesterday. personally I agree with it more than reed's, but they equally suck. I reloaded the confrontation with reed like 6 times to make sure I really couldn't save them both. what a twisted mirror for v and johnny's situation.
and the way johnny says "she made it. preem, that's what counts" in the end, JESUS christ... he really sees both v and alt in her, that's why she kinda pisses him off and why he's so much more at peace with that decision.

Give people the grace to change when they've done you wrong. Dont judge their whole life on one season, one mistake.
You dont have to befriend them and allow them all access, but you need to get to the point where you've let go of the offense and you treat them with respect.

You want to build community? Learn to make genuine small talk.
“But I don’t know how” “but I don’t like scripted small talk” “I’m autistic and I struggle with small talk”
Learn.
Compliment strangers. Ask about people’s lives. Talk to your neighbors in the elevator. Talk to children running around. Offer to carry people’s groceries or hold the door for them. You can’t expect the community to form around you and you just join in. This is the social contract and YOU are a part of it.

“I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people— not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people.”

We were watching the glass blowing competition show on netflix because it's really cool to see those talented artists do their thing...
But I will NEVER forgive the judges for eliminating an amazing artist who's concept was that plastic hamster tubes are actually dangerous for hamsters yet they are normalized in our society so they made a beautiful glass rendition of an endless loop of colorful hamster tubes as an expression of how we can be trapped by society in a loop of behavior that is normalized but actually killing us
And the judges were like "this isnt DEEP ENOUGH" because they dont care enough about hamsters to learn and interpret the artist's statement at the level it was meant for.
Tumblr media
They literally saw the glass renditions of colorful tubes that represent suffering and being trapped in a glossy predesigned hell and went "this is too normal and isnt saying anything important actually" Fuck them!!!!
Anyways Gemma should have won and I'm so happy to see that she didn't let it stop her amazing concept and she continued with it outside of the time constraints of the show. Fuck yes Gemma

there is a judge in Seattle who does the weekly name change hearings, and who says it's her favorite part of the week. she says she doesn't read out previous names, or ask about the reasons why people want to change them. she says it's a beautiful moment, and a celebration; a claiming of a new identity, or a reclamation of an old identity. she encourages the room to clap for folks. then she welcomes everyone up, one by one, by last name and with warmth; she shows them the court order where nobody else can see, asks them to double check the spelling, and then they're done! do they want a picture? do they want their friends and loved ones who came with them to be in it too? do they want the court order in the photo? she helps everyone pose, shakes hands and stands with them for as long as they need to take it, recruits the clerk for help taking photos of the folks who came alone. then she tells them where to go next, congratulates them, and claps along with the rest of the room.
probably three quarters of the people there were trans, and she centered their experience quietly, with love and joy.
I think I'll be thinking about her a lot this January, and for a long time after. it's good to know she's there.

Being Light as He is Light
I saw this vehicle in Hobby Lobby’s parking lot. I’m sorry I saw it then and I apologize for showing it to you now. But this scene propelled me into my annual rant. Ghosts, goblins, zombies, witches, and Halloween paraphernalia that “haunt” us are everywhere – in stores and yards this time of the year. Wait! Before Halloween enthusiasts stop reading this blog, please know I’m not judging anyone…
