after 10 yrs in this fandom (jfc I need a hobby) I've learned that if you want to know the (probable, most likely) truth, then you need to pay attention to what dnp DON'T say rather than what they do say.

why do you think dennis doesn't pursue any women in season 16? it's a huge contrast to how he is in previous seasons so it must be a deliberate writing choice & i've been dying to hear detailed theories about this
Every season for the past, well I don't even know how long, has always had some kind of 'Dennis pursuing women' narrative written in, for sure, but I think it's maybe less of a Dennis x Women plot, and more of a hard-scene reminder that this guy is a freak, he plays games, he is a sexual predator (and he's fucked up).
Take the last couple seasons: 13, Escapes; 14, Gets Romantic; 15, LW7; 16...Frank vs. Russia. These plots for Dennis are continuing to establish and reaffirm that this guy is in the 'dating' game for the hunt, to evolve and beat any challenge that presents itself. Sex is a game he needs to win at, and he continues to find new ways to approach that. We aren't seeing this side of Dennis' life so we know he's into women or that he has sex, we're seeing it because we're continuing to learn and understand that he's always playing a game, working a narrative. He's not out there dating or having sex for a connection, he never has. He's getting something else out of it.
I'm not sure I really have a theory, or even need to dig more than surface level here. I think Frank Vs. Russia is that same plot that you might say was 'missing' this season. It's the same thing, just men.
In Escapes we only learn Dennis has a sex escape room because Dee gets caught up in it, but he's been doing this. We were none-the-wiser, because Dennis' sex life only rears its head to the Gang when the narrative calls for it. I see Frank vs. Russia as very similar (and same writer, look at that). We learn about The S.I.N.N.E.D. System because Dennis revealed it to Dee and Mac to get them off his back, but he's been doing this. It's the same narrative we've seen for years, really truly: Dennis pursues women people in creepy (or freaky) ways because sex is a game he needs to play in order to win.
Why don't we see him pursue any women in Season 16? Well, we don't often get more than one Dennis sex plot, but I genuinely think having this as the stand-alone sex (in the butt) plot of the Season just better highlights the fact that Dennis "anyone can get a guy to bang them once" Reynolds plays for both teams, in equally messed up ways.
So, it's not a seasonally "Dennis pursues women" plot, but a seasonally "Dennis has a fucked up relationship with sex" narrative :)

I meant when the interview occurs was that after they tried to kill Lestat.
So after they try to kill him louis leaves him???? Omgshhhh.
How does Lestat forgive him.
Okay BIG spoilers below so don't read if you don't want a full timeline of the big Louis and Lestat moments from the second half of the book:
Yeah so it's somewhere in the 1860's I wanna say that Claudia tries to kill him. They think she succeeded and dump his body in the swamp and Louis is pretty emotionally fucked up about it.
As they're preparing for their trip overseas to learn more about vampires, Lestat comes back, physically scarred and with a newly made fledgling he had been having an affair with, and kind of ambushes them. Later, Lestat insists he just wanted to talk, but in the moment Louis assumes the worst and they get into a physical fight and Louis ends up setting Lestat on fire.
They escape to the ship and leave the continent for Europe, and Louis thinks about him often as they travel and continue to find no other true vampires. There's a really sad, romantic line where he says that it was "as if the empty nights were made for thinking of him."
Later, Louis and Claudia meet a group of vampires at a theatre in Paris, led by a guy named Armand, who is very taken with Louis. When they discover that Louis and Claudia were responsible for their maker's death, though, which is really the only crime among vampires, they are abducted and brought to the catacombs under the theatre for punishment. Lestat is there and he's angry with Claudia and is desperate to talk to Louis, but he's also very physically weak and easily outwitted/overpowered by the other vampires who seal Louis in a coffin and execute Claudia, even though they had promised Lestat no harm would come to them.
Louis is obviously an absolute wreck when Armand releases him and it's when he sees Lestat clutching Claudia's dress with tears streaming down his face that he finds out Claudia is dead, and he kind of forgets all about Lestat for the moment as he takes his revenge.
He and Armand travel together for a long time, but Claudia's death has kind of extinguished the spark in Louis and Armand wants it back, so eventually he suggests they go to New Orleans, where he knows Lestat is still alive.
Louis is clear that he doesn't hate Lestat and wants to see him again so he tracks him down. Lestat is a shell of his former self, living in a run down house, more or less at the mercy of his new and irritated vampire fledglings, and surrounded by the corpses of animals he's killed because he's too weak to hunt properly. Lestat is overjoyed to see Louis and desperately wants him back, even begs him to stay this time, but after they talk Louis is overcome with weariness and ends up leaving him.
The interview happens years later in the 1970's, and during this time Lestat is sleeping/hibernating and is only awoken in 1984 by the power of rock music (yes I'm being 100% serious lol). When he wakes up, he finds out mortals know his name because of Louis' book.
As far as how Lestat can forgive him, he says in TVL that a lot of what Louis said in IWTV was a lie and that he hates him for those lies, but that his love for him is far greater than the hate. I mean, one of the main reasons he wrote his memoir in the first place is to say to Louis all the things he couldn't before, to give him an understanding of where he came from and how his trauma shaped him into the man Louis knew. At the end of the day, Louis is Lestat's person, and he's willing to forgive him anything.
Also, as much as I stan Lestat, he was an absolute bastard to Louis and Claudia for a long time and what they did to him was not unjustified.

Lemme get some uhhhh jeongin and seungmin threesome thoughts?? I lov u btw - 🐯
lov u bb <3
seungmin and jeongin are mean together !!! really condescending, laughing and toying at you. like, the mind games are in effect with these two. and it’s kinda crazy bc they share control so well. like there was never the option for power levels between the three of you to be equal, power is only equal and shared by the two of them. however, they do make it known in small ways that you do, in fact, have a lot of control in the situation. small praises, little pecks, inquiries and concern in how you’re feeling, etc.
they have a near razor sharp edge to them in the heat of the moment, but between the degrading language and the roughness of the hands against your skin, you can feel that the two care for you and don’t want you to be uncomfortable. which is pretty overwhelming (in all the right ways ofc). all of that is why they’re able to play little mind games so well. you’ve practically melted into their touches, so when one of them tells you to do something, you follow suit without hesitation. which is something that seungmin and jeongin love—haven’t even had the time to fully break you yet and you’re already nestled in the palm of their hands.

bestie bestie ive got to know what is happening with ls atm i keep seeing posts about it but ive only see 911 and im v curious
omg where to begin???
essentially in the s4 premiere, one half of the canon gay couple told his fiancé that he is currently married to a woman (his bff from highschool). and he stayed married to her all these years so she would be covered by his health insurance as she has schizophrenia.
which fine whatever ok (i've read this is super common in the US).
but the reason most people are upset is because the writers are trying to get us to believe that he kept this huge, massive, secret from the love of his life for like 3 years. and never said a word. and it's just so very OOC for this character. and does a lot of damage to the relationship we've seen grow and develop for 3 seasons. and kinda tarnishes a lot of moments we've seen between them ya know?
one of the reasons that I am very annoyed is that the writers did not give space for his fiancé to be upset or express emotion about the fact his partner, soulmate, etc.. is married to someone else. and they just made him barely have a reaction which again... OOC. the character who is married also never apologized to his fiancé, didn’t voice how much this will affect their relationship, and just talked about being a bad friend to his wife because he has ghosted her for 3 years.
now this character has to get a divorce before the two of them can get married.
the writers are also trying to gaslight the fans into believing that they have had this planned from the beginning of the series. which we know they haven't because this woman he is married to was "missing" for the entirety of s1 and he was involved in looking for her and it was literally never even mentioned or hinted at or touched upon that they were anything more than acquaintances.
it's a classic case of the fans know these characters sooo much better than the show writers and the writers literally just make up bad plot lines for shock value. so fanfic codas have been getting me through this week lol.

Like it's very possible that my whole process and method and theory about sun tolerance is wrong and actually awful for my skin and I'm damaging myself and if I were to tell my dermatologist everything I put in that last post she would be very disappointed in me (I'm sure I should be wearing more SPF than I do; I hear some people apply it to their faces every morning just for the commute to and from their indoor jobs, so I'm definitely skimping by comparison), so like, obviously don't do this just because I'm saying it seems to work for me lol
However I'm inclined to believe that skin sun tolerance works like other things in the body..... You can teach and work up to it. Like if you want better posture you have to train the necessary muscles bit by bit until they're primed and you naturally stand straighter, you know? Similarly, if you want to be in the sun a lot (as I do because I'm a gardener obviously) you have to train your skin in small increments to tolerate the rays.

[ID copied from alt text: A comic depicting an alternate universe where Season 1 Zuko is a mermaid. He's shown on a beach, hiding behind a rock watching Aang and Katara practice waterbending. He thinks to himself, "The Avatar is supposed to be an airbender…" He watches Aang and Katara talk, while continuing his thoughts, "He has the tattoos… and he was waterbending…" Aang notices Zuko hiding and points him out to Katara, who turns. Zuko notices them looking at him and he ducks his head down behind the rock. Aang and Katara straighten up as they notice him disappear. Aang and Katara start running towards where Zuko disappeared, yelling, "Wait! Hello!" Zuko has his back to the rock, scared and thinking, "Shit, shit, shit." Another comic. It shows Zuko laying on the beach. He thinks to himself, "I'm so close to going home." He sits up and says, "Avatar, here I come!" showing that he's no longer a mermaid and has legs. After a moment of silence, he asks, "How do I walk?" End ID]
mermay means i make a little mermaid book 1 zuko au.

actually I do want to talk about Sally Jackson a tad more because one criticism I've been hearing about her book counterpart more recently is "book Sally is one-dimensional: the perfect mother with no flaws" and that just has me biting my cheek because one part of her book counterpart that I always thought was ripe with discussion and didn't make it to the show is that Sally states that it was selfish of her to keep Percy close. It's one of the last things she says to him before she's "killed" by the minotaur.
And there's so much that we don't know about Sally because we view her from Percy's eyes. From his perspective we know that she's exceedingly kind, she never raises her voice to him or even Gabe, and she endured a horrible and abusive relationship to protect her son from monsters (of a different kind).
But there are things we can piece together from the text: Sally has known about CHB for a long time, apparently since before Percy was even born because Poseidon told her he wanted to send Percy there; she was told that it was a mistake for her to keep Percy close - who told her that, we're not sure, she only uses the phrase they; she's been in contact with Grover through out the school year; she knows that she can't cross the camp boundary line, which means either Grover or someone else (Chiron? Poseidon?) told her that, and that she understood that there was place that Percy would be safe from monsters.
And all of these little details are so interesting because it does make you wonder just how much she did or didn't know. Was her self assessment right? Was it selfish of her to keep Percy close?
On one hand, she kept him close because she loved him, alongside the fear that if she sent him to camp, she would be saying goodbye for good -- so is it even fair to call the act of keeping him close selfish? Or perhaps, much like Chiron, she assumed keeping Percy in the dark would be safer?
But on the other hand, Percy had been attracting monsters all his childhood, she understood camp was a safe place from monsters, and she had apparently been told explicitly that it was a mistake for her to keep him close.
And then adding in the factors of: Percy is her only family in the entire world, she's been suffering with Gabe for years, sacrificing so much in order to keep Percy safe when he's at home... but even that has a touch of sad irony because when we meet Percy in tlt, its at point when he's not really home at all -- he's been regularly sent off to boarding schools, so much so that he's internalized it as his own short-coming.
And all of this isn't to say "Omg Sally is actually horrible" or to assert definitely that she is selfish... but more to speak to the fact that in the books, she's not an all-perfect 2-dimensional mother. And her self-assessment of selfishness is something that is really interesting to explore and debate given the implications of what she apparently did (or did not) know about the godly world. I feel there's even an argument to be made that Sally being "selfish" could be a reflection of Percy's fatal flaw.

doing chibi is a good design exercise bc it forces u to think on shapes n essential details, essentially thumbnailing ur designs. its also a terrible design exercise bc it ends up looking cute no matter what
#dimension 20#fantasy high#riz gukgak#very specifically class swap bard!riz#fh class quangle#mm. I may need tags for all the asides Ive been doing lmao#riz's canon design is so coherent and thematically clean that I genuinely struggle to keep up...#bard!riz's whole thing is working out his identity through abject fear so it kiiiinda makes sense that hes got a different thing going#on every year I guess? like lmao the directive I go into each of these designs with changes vastly#freshman bard!riz has to look extremely nonthreatening. and also make you wanna pick him up and chuck him at a wall#annoyingly inoffensive. slides off your memory pretty much immediately. a void of an experience#crucially Does Not Show Teeth While Smiling#sophomore year bard!riz I have been keeping the like. cameraman direction for#I want him to be swimming in clothes a little bit... he kinda lands at like. 80s/90s shlocky horror protag too which I do like#bc what is season 2 to riz if not a horror story lmao#junior year bard!riz I want to be somewhere between clark kent and tintin#the journalist aesthetics is not so clear and easy to build as the detective or spy aesthetics...#but also I just. really like boy journalist lmao this is the BD blood speaking again#and! I actually do draw his hair differently than in my canon junior year riz stuff. its a bit shorter here so it doesn't#obscure as much of his face#its so funny actually going from drawing canon stuff to class swap esp. with riz bc he's smiling SO much here#and it's 100% trained like its crucial for u guys to know he is equally if not more fucked up as a bard#barely anybody can wrangle him in canon it's already been mostly him keeping himself on track. imagine if he actually learned how to act#mmm. I think these designs are still gonna soft change as I draw them. thats fine we have fun#drawing sophomore year bard!riz for those comiclets was fun as hell. I think on this factor alone I call it a success lol

There's an aspect of Original!Elias Bouchard that makes me so sad to think about in a weird kind of "meta" way.
And that's the fact that he has to be labelled as the "OG" not as Elias.
Technically speaking Elias has been dead for years. It's Jonah that's taken over - literally having his eyes removed and replacing them with his own and living as him (he even seemingly keeps his "old fashioned haircut" on Elias' hair).
And yet we as the audience don't often call that form of Jonah "JONAH". Instead it's Elias, cause he's been Elias for 4 series at this point.
"Elias started the apocalypse", "Elias beat that old man to death with a metal pipe" when it was never really Elias in the first place.
He's been so robbed of his own identity that not even death can spare him; all of Jonah's actions in his body are recognised as him.
(Btw this isn't me saying you can't call Jonah!Elias straight up Elias, I do that regularly ofc. I'm just being emo rn lol)

What if spirit swords worked like soulmates? Not like in most fics where you get a sword that matched you from the sword wall but where, as soon as a spirit sword is forged, there is a soul that is meant for it out there. It won’t change souls until that destined soul dies.
You could force a spirit sword to work with you, but it won’t be happy. No one will be happy here.
Yue Qi chose XS not only because of its power, but because it felt familiar. And it felt familiar because it was supposed to be SJ’s sword. Idk, maybe it keeps trying to call out to SQQ over the years, and SQQ doesn’t know why YQY’s sword keeps bothering him lol
And SQQ’s sword? Didn’t have a soul destined at that moment, because it was meant for SY, who wasn’t there yet. So SQQ could pick it no problem, because it wasn’t trying to fight to get to someone else.
If this is ‘SY becomes SQQ’, people note that his sword works a lot better for him now! But now YQY’s sword is both behaving better and extremely depressed.
If it was ‘SY becomes anyone else’, that causes a whole lot more of chaos with the scenario I accidentally made here. SQQ’s sword is now fighting to get to SY, YQY’s sword senses a potential opening with SQQ and starts fighting double time (which would be an awful thing while tied to your life force) and SY just can’t seem to find a cool sword that will work with him!
(Where’s YQY’s sword? Uh… I feel like the funniest answer is somehow Xin Mo. Binghe gets out of the abyss with his cool new sword and then the evil demon sword gets thrown into the pot)
