im afraid i may have i classically conditioned myself. i have a space heater in my room, the kind that makes fan noise when i turn it on. i think ive come to associate that sound with being warm, because i recently got a mini fridge that also makes fan noise, and now i keep feeling hot even though its the same temperature its always been (which is usually cold for me). my fridge makes me warm. thats all backwards. damn you pavlov.

what about some sort of buddy cop, same age, enemies to lovers au where obi-wan is a jedi and anakin is a coruscanti detective and they literally hate each other and have no respect for the other (obi-wan thinks anakin is a waste of the coruscant budget and a jedi wannabe; anakin thinks obi-wan is a pretentious space monk asshole)

(anakin has personally arrested obi-wan for speeding three times, drinking in public spaces 4 times -- the public space was a bar btw -- and indecent public exposure once. that last one was, tbh, fair cause obi-wan had his dick out in an alley way lol)

(obi-wan has literally stalked this asshole coruscanti cop off planet before and arrested him in his capacity as Jedi Knight for not using his turn signal when changing hyperspace lanes (once), for podracing betting (3 times), and for possession of a galacticly banned substance (twice))

it's not that they're obsessed with each other, it's just that something keeps forcing them together in the wildest, most unpredictable situations, and it's annoying as hell because they're completely fed up with each other

then the senate moves to have a new task force stood up to solve a series of Force-related crimes in the Coruscanti underworld. the task force would include a representative from the Jedi Temple and one from the Coruscanti guards, obviously. and really, obi-wan and anakin are the perfect choices! they're both highly intelligent, dedicated, trustworthy, and incorruptible.

if only they'd stop trying to push each other off the 51st story of coruscant and actually put their heads together to solve the crime

so in the past I have made themed gifts for people who have helped me* and it's been a little weird but like. Understandable to the person I am gifting the thing to weird? My current problem is that I want to make something for my endocrinologist because he has improved my quality of life hugely** but endocrinology doesn't have an easily themed gift and my endocrinologist reminds me very very strongly of like a sad greyhound or a whippet but I cannot explain to this very nice, very normal man that "hey I made you a plushie of a dog because I wanted to thank you for the steroids and you remind me of a dog. In a good way!" *like teeth plushies for the dentist who helped me figure out I have to have dental anesthetic without epinephrine in it, or a chicken plushie for the people at the chicken restaurant that went the extra mile to get their ingredients list that were the reason I figured out I'm allergic to coconut **I had what would have been a severe allergic reaction and it wasn't pleasant but I didn't end up in the hospital and I didn't take like a week minimum to recover and

Working together in comfortable silence, the scratching of your pens on paper and the clicking of your keyboards.

They sigh, leaning back in their chair and stretching with their arms behind their head, then allowing their elbows to drape over the back of their chair as their eyes languidly scan the room.

Their eyes settling on your hand resting atop the wood of your desk, unmoving, looking like it needs to have theirs in it.

Them gently tapping on a few of your fingers in a pattern, causing you to look up at them with an attentive smile and a gentle tilt of your head.

They seize the opportunity to take your hand into theirs gingerly, intertwining your fingers and making sure no one is looking before pressing a sweet kiss to your knuckles.

The action making your heart jump, you’re about to pull your hand away when they squeeze it a little tighter.

“Carry on, I’m not even here.”

Their focus shifts back to your hand as they lower it onto their desk and remove your fingers from being interlocked with theirs one by one.

You pause before continuing your report with a new flutter in your chest.

One of their hands rests on your pulse point and holds your thumb while the other gently guides your fingers to tap the tips together, making little O shapes.

Them finishing with that and taking to tracing the lines on your palm with their index finger, admiring every crease and curve as if it were a work of art.

Them leaning down and pressing their cheek into your hand, a warm feeling intoxicating their mind as they allow themselves to relax.

Typing one-handed as they rest on your hand, not having the heart to wake them up.
