I'd love to see spacex try to fly a mission to mars for 2026 because there is no way on God's green earth starship will be ready in time. That thing keeps tearing itself apart eight minutes into flight and creating a light show over the Caribbean and the last two failures had DIFFERENT CAUSES. Also it takes three fucking months minimum to get to Mars and even longer to get back. I'm sure they'll talk about what they plan to accomplish with this but like dude. This is not a process you have to rush. This isn't the Cold War you dont have to beat the Soviets to Mars. There is literally no competition except maybe from NASA and theyre focusing on the moon first. And they have a rocket that works.

I'm wondering if part of why theyre doing this (other than Elon's severe mental illness) is because of Artemis II. Are they going to try to compete for attention by saying oh, youre putting humans around the moon? Well we're launching a private mission to mars. And im sorry but no matter what youre not going to deter my neverending adoration for Artemis II and her crew.

papergames and infold do not need you defending them

i get it i want to stay positive about this game too, ive complained a lot about the update since it came out from its glitches to its story changes

but i dont need to rush to their defense, they make more money than you and me will ever make unless you're secretly elon or something

this isnt the first game people have boycotted them from and i dont think its going to suddenly implode the game

they have love nikki, shining nikki, love and deepspace, and probably other things im not aware of off the top of my head besides infinity nikki

saying this will be reddits fault when the game is taken away is frankly very very very silly

ive played DOZENS of gacha games and mmos and such over the years decades even

some crash and burn after a year, some cant meet the demands of its players and shut down, or the studio got hit too hard during covid (some games dont even last a day)

i dont think this will be the downfall of infinity nikki, unless things keep going in this direction i think they'll be fine

but i dont work for infold or papergames i dont know what its like there or what they're currently doing about the situation

its also completely ignoring the fact that this entire boycott started with the players over on rednote who are STILL making demands and complaints on the official account over there. this isn't a problem exclusive to the reddit community

and from what ive learned from other games (looks at pokemon) these people could very likely be a VERY small vocal minority (like i said just look at the reactions to the switch era of pokemon games and the numbers they did regardless)

i dont know how many people play infinity nikki (or any of their games) whos spending money and who isnt, and how many of those are people who are trying to get a better response from the devs

games like this are more often than not completely held up by the players who spend the most, some companies cant afford that and completely buckle (theres probably a lot more factors that go into this but i dont really know much and it does vary game by game/studio by studio)

love nikki hasnt shut down and ive seen plenty of complaints and attempts of boycotting from western players

shining nikki has had to change things like nikki getting arrested or the face mask due to at the time current events and guess what it did not shut down (but it SURE did in korea but thats ANOTHER story and frankly i dont think itd be even fair to compare this to that issue)

avoid youtubers who talk negatively about it, block people on tumblr or other social media, dont use the official discord or subreddit or the unofficial one even

-hate that you cant make your character fat

-love the characters and how they are introduced

-kinda hate astarion sorry. Didnt do his quest cause he was mean to me.

-the absolute being a big ass brain was so fucking funny to me i cant explain

-lae'zel is a failgirl and i love her

-i fucked that squid and regretted it. Found out that if you dont have tentacle sex with him he shows you fucked up shit he did. Really mean tbh 👎 will side with orpheus next time

-theres not 17000 endings there's like 3

-lots of weird visual glitches at least in the low settings

-i spotted a few continuity errors in the dialogue but i can forgive that cause there's so many routes to take

-game starts with a really nice pace in act 1, then it becomes reeeeeeeally slow in act 2 and way too fast in act 3.

-The combat system is really fun i love casting spells and fireballs 💥 the fight against ketheric was really good but the other two were meh. So much hype for orin and then she does nothing and dies. And gortash is like if elon musk was a dnd character (i deactivated his iphone robots and killed him in like 2 hits)

-best luck to the tiefling kids i hope the giant brain falling didnt kill them

-omeluum my love. The highlight of the game im not being sarcastic. Extremely good character reveal he has 2 lines of dialogue and i'd give him a hug and help him plan his wedding with blurg.

-game feels half cooked in general. It's a reeally massive game and they should have given it a few more years

tony knew the answer by now, he lost his mind over your death

it didn’t feel right not having you by his side, for the past 18 years you’ve been with him

after a long period of recovery, tony and pepper moved on, got married, built a home, had a new daughter...

tony made sure there was a spare room for you

he put all the things you left behind in it

there were so many photos of you in the house

and he’d show your sister, morgan, all of them. he wanted morgan to know her sister

peter grabbing your hand as you both sobbed next to your dad, feeling robbed of your time with him

pepper brought you home where she told you all about the five years you missed

both of you just cried harder than you’ve ever cried before

morgan was so happy to meet you, she couldn’t contain herself, practically latched onto you

and she didn’t fully understand what happened to tony

you saw your new room for the first time and didn’t leave it for a while, occasionally pepper or morgan would pop in

morgan actually crawled into bed with you a few times

the funeral was one of the worst days of your life

the remnants of your young life pulled back together for one day

then you hid back in your room before you heard a knock

“who is it?”

“hey, kiddo. me and morgan are gonna get some cheeseburgers, you wanna come?”

after a long hibernation, you started to get back into the groove of your old life

but the press was brutal and harsh, you were bombarded with questions regarding your dad

it took everything not to explode on camera

you stayed in contact with the rest of the avengers, mourning your dead, keeping the support system, staying a family

it was all you could get...for now

so i watched venom on my flight and i have some takes, sorry they're long + I'm on mobile so I cant read more

i was not expecting the horror element to be pushed so much but it was so good

the performances were all really fuckin good

the cinematography was really good

the writing was good except when it wasnt. some lines were awkward, some things felt rushed, some things felt undeveloped/explored

i think the places where the writing suffered was probably character development being cut down in favor of extending action sequences

Like, the movie suffered the most from like. being an action movie. like the fights went on too long. they looked cool but they kept. going. I wanted less of that. or maybe show them bonding through the fights not just being like "Gaaah dont wat people" "im gonna" "bitch"

in line w that, I REALLY wanted more of venom/eddie like. bonding. the moments between them are really good but they dont feel earned. like i want a scene where eddie is like "no you gotta stop eating people" "but we're hungry" and then enjoying tater tots together. instead the tater tots got thrown at some dude

i love the combination of horror and comedy and how they get interlaced. like, at the beginning of the scene where eddie is being interrogated by villain guy they have an exchange that's like "you're insane" "that hurts" "...sorry" "long journal entry about that tonight" and its played with complete sincerity on both parts and its genuinely hilarious. and then it snaps into us seeing riots form and its terrific, in both the modern and classical senses of the word

didnt like the hints at the end that eddie/Anne might happen. they should've stopped at eddie saying "I dont think so" and him just moving on.

overall i think it would have been better if it had leaned into the interesting sci fi/horror/character focused/genuinely really good comedy aspects that are atypical of like, todays superhero movies. it felt like a really amazing movie stuffed into what a marvel movie is supposed to look like

i loved the performances and the characters. i love how Eddie was an asshole in the way he was an asshole it was like, refreshing. and Dan was so good! and Anne was so good. and elon mu I mean the villain guy was really good and the performance was stellar. I wish the researcher hadnt died I loved her

speaking of not great that the woc (who was originally aligned w villain dude, who is also not white) died and the rest of the protags are white

i had a dream about self driving cars. namely abt an alternate universe/timeline they were really common. 

obviously people still drove. it just wasn’t uncommon to see people with their hands off the wheel or dozing off in the passenger seat with no one in the driver’s seat. mostly it was for if you were going to be driving a lot, or on things like highways where self driving had the most support 

none of these were teslas btw. like in-universe of this dream tesla self driving cars were a failure. the reason we had such wide spread self driving cars was bc the government got a research group for the study and funding of widespread self driving technology with a bunch of larger car companies to create something with more standardized programming and common infrastructure. 

the reason why the tesla cars in universe were such a failure was because they lacked critical infrastructure like self driving lanes, large scale data on how driving on certain roads works, properly tested censors, etc. the self driving tesla cars were more importantly a failure because elon rushed them to market knowing their faults assuming all would be well if they just used them long enough no infrastructure or further testing required. mostly because he thought if he didnt rush them to market ppl would think he was a loser who couldnt accomplish a self driving car, and he technically paid for it to be completed to some state, even if it didnt work that well. 

i dont know why i had this dream i dont have very strong opinions on self driving cars. i dont think about this in my regular life whatsoever

Comment survivre la période de confinement (deuxième partie)

Huitième semaine de confinement, n’est-ce pas? Comment vous en sortez-vous? Je l’avoue, ce n’est pas facile. Et si vous êtes un mordu de l’automobile comme moi, ça peut paraître plus difficile. On se sent un peu comme à la guerre. Heureusement, d’un côté matériel, ce n’est pas aussi grave qu’en Europe durant la Deuxième Grande Guerre. Mais à voir le nombre de gens qui en décèdent, c’est presque aussi tragique. Je sympathise avec toutes les familles qui y perdent un être cher, bien souvent sans l’avoir revu durant ses derniers jours…

D’un aspect plus «matérialiste» (désolé…), ce n’est certes pas très joyeux. Par exemple, les chroniqueurs automobile n’ont pas grand-chose à se mettre sous la dent…et rien à transmettre à leurs lecteurs. D’ailleurs, ceux-ci sont-ils toujours à l’écoute? On se croirait en 1946 alors que l’industrie automobile essayait de revenir à la vie. Tout ce qu’elle avait à proposer, c’ étaient des modèles reconduits. C’en est un peu le cas présentement. Les usines ne tournent pas encore à plein régime (et elles ne le feront certes pas pendant un bout de temps puisqu’il faille établir de nouvelles normes de travail correspondant aux normes de distanciation sociale). Évidemment, il n’y aura rien de nouveaux sous le soleil…

Pour les amateurs de voitures (et de camionnettes) de tout calibre, il n’y aura pas d’évènements d’importance avant un bon bout de temps pour venir leur remonter le moral et «ressusciter» leur engouement pour ce domaine. (Faut avouer que NASCAR ouvre le bal en présentant des courses ce week-end, «live» de Darlington mais sans spectateurs…)

La semaine dernière, dans ce blogue, j’essayais d’inciter les amateurs de bagnoles à lire des volumes sur le domaine, peu importe leur provenance (d’ailleurs, étant un ancien prof, j’essaierai toujours de vous inciter à lire). J’ai eu quelques réactions intéressantes. Par exemple, il est de plus en plus difficile de trouver de bons magazines sur l’auto en vente chez les multiples marchands et vu que la plupart des librairies étaient fermées (quelques-unes ont  rouvert durant les derniers jours), il fallait se rabattre sur leur disponibilité sur Internet. C’est d’ailleurs ce que j’ai fait mais il faudra que je m’habitue à lire sur écran sans tenir du papier dans les mains (avez-vous déjà essayé de tuer une mouche avec une tablette ?).

Parmi les réponses que  j’ai reçues, il y a celle du lecteur Richard Delisle qui dit préférer regarder d’anciennes courses de NASCAR sur YouTube! Ce qui m’amène à une deuxième façon de «nourrir» notre passion de l’auto, soit par le visionnement de films ayant pour thème ou mettant en vedette des automobiles de tout gabarit.

Je vous l’expliquais la semaine dernière, je suis un véritable mordu, un «fana» de l’automobile et ce, de tout genre. En plus de collectionner les livres et de lire des magazines sans fin, je suis aussi collectionneur de films. Pas nécessairement «consommateur» mais «collectionneur». C’est-à-dire que, non seulement j’aime regarder des films mettant en vedette des autos ou le monde des autos mais, j’aime aussi les «posséder» en DVD ou en cassette vidéo. J’ai même de vieux films en 35 mm sur des évènements automobile qui m’ont été confiés il y a très longtemps.

Le tout récent film Ford contre Ferrari est maintenant disponible sur DVD…

Pour ceux qui voudraient commencer cette «mauvaise habitude», c’est plutôt facile. Un peu de recherche sur Internet vous sera très utile. Surtout que tout récemment, nous avons eu droit à des «pièces de collection» intéressantes en commençant par le tout récent «Ford contre Ferrari» (qui s’intitule «Le Mans 66 » en Europe, je ne sais pas trop pourquoi…), un film que j’ai critiqué pour ses nombreuses erreurs historiques ou techniques mais qui s’est quand même mérité pas moins de deux Oscars dont un pour le son et l’autre pour le montage. 

Un «must» dans votre collection, le dessin animé Cars…

Il n’y a pas si longtemps, le long métrage animé «Cars» m’a vraiment charmé au plus haut point. À ces deux films, on pourrait ajouter «Rush», «Senna», «One» («Un») et quelques autres long métrages du genre («One» se trouve difficilement car il s’agit d’un assemblage de documentaires) mais si vous êtes intéressés et si vous en avez un peu les moyens, essayez de trouver de véritables chefs-d’œuvre comme «Grand Prix» de John Frankenheimer. Ce film sur la F1 est sorti au milieu des années soixante et même aujourd’hui, ça vaut la peine de le visionner avec attention. Et surtout de l’ajouter à sa collection. Remarquez que j’évite de mentionner la série «Rapides et Dangereux» à moins que vous soyez un inconditionnel des films fantastiques.

Probablement le meilleur film de course automobile jamais produit, Grand Prix de John Frankenheimer est un autre «must» dans une collection…

Tous les films mettant en vedette des autos n’ont pas nécessairement besoin d’être de la compétition. «Tucker, the Man and his Dreams» (1988) est une sorte de biographie romancée sur l’histoire de Preston Tucker qui a tenté de se mesurer aux Trois Grands de Detroit à la fin des années cinquante. Autrement, vous pouvez aussi opter du côté des films d’action du genre «Bullitt» ou mieux encore, «The Italian Job» («Un boulot à l’italienne») dans sa version originale de 1969 (superbe) ou dans son remake de 2003.

Très intéressant la bio de Tucker…

Certains collectionneurs plus aguerris (et plus mordus) chercheront des films encore plus anciens comme «Red Line 7000» (Ligne rouge 7000) d’Howard Hawk de 1965 portant sur la NASCAR de l’époque et mettant en vedette de jeunes nouveaux acteurs comme James Caan (Sonny dans Le Parrain) dans son premier rôle majeur. Dans ma collection, il y a «Thunder Road», un film de 1957 mettant en vedette Robert Mitchum. Ce film raconte les aventures des transporteurs d’alcool illégal («moonshiners») dans le sud-est américain. Ah oui! N’oublions pas le petit chef d’œuvre de Steven Speilberg, «Duel» ou «Vanishing Point» («Point Limite Zéro»).

Red Line 7000 est moins connu des amateurs de NASCAR mais il est amusant…

Thunder Road nous ramène dans les années cinquante durant l’époque du Moonshine…

Certains films sont des comédies intemporelles comme «The Great Race» («La Grande Course») avec Tony Curtis et Jack Lemon, une histoire fantaisiste qui se passe au début du siècle dernier ou encore «Those Daring Young Men and their Jaunting Jalopies» (encore avec Tony Curtis), deux films du milieu des années soixante.  

Absolument bien fait, ce film The Great Race…

D’autres films se classent dans la catégorie des films d’horreur ou fantastiques comme «Christine» ou «The Car» («L’enfer mécanique») à moins que vous soyez un inconditionnel de la série «Transformer».

Et si vous êtes encore plus mordus, vous rechercherez certainement d’anciennes comédies d’Abbott et Costello  («Abbott and Costello at the Races») en noir et blanc avec de très anciennes autos de course ou des classiques comme «They Drive by Night», un film de camionneurs avec Humphrey Bogart!

Je compte, dans ma «collection», des films inusités comme «Gone in 60 Seconds» du début des années soixante-dix, un film de cascadeurs obscur qui a été présenté sous le titre de «La Grande Casse» au Québec (en supplément de programme à un film de James Bond qui a plus ou moins marché, «Moonraker» et qui en a été plus populaire) qui a eu une suite encore moins connue, «The Junkman», qui s’est avérée une véritable cascade de démolition. Essayez d’y identifier toutes les autos qui apparaissent dans ce film!

La version originale du film Gone in 60 Seconds des années soixante-dix est nettement plus amusante que le récent «remake» avec Nicolas Cage…

Mais attendez! Ce n’est pas fini! J’ai aussi des poursuites d’autos relativement intéressantes dans des films tournés en Europe comme «Ronin» et de véritables «navets» sans intérêt du début des années soixante en noir et blanc mettant en vedette de véritables pilotes de NASCAR de l’époque (comme Fred Lorenzen) dans des aventures (insignifiantes) sans véritable contenu gravitant autour des courses de NASCAR.

Il y a une poursuite intéressante dans Ronin…

Ah oui! Du côté musical, il y a «Chitty-Chitty Bang-Bang» avec Dick Van Dyke, un film fantaisiste basé sur un livre fantaisiste de l’auteur des romans de James Bond, Ian Fleming…

Bon pour les adultes et les enfants, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang est une comédie musicale signée…Ian Fleming (oui, oui, Fleming des 007 !)

Imaginez, regarder tout cela durant la pandémie…Juste les classer est un travail (presque) à plein temps…

Nouvelles de l’industrie…

Alors qu’il n’y a presque rien de nouveau annoncé par les grands constructeurs, on pourrait s’attendre, comme je l’écrivais déjà, à des dévoilements importants vers la fin de l’été. J’ose espérer que d’ici ce temps-là, l’industrie aura reparti ses usines ce qui semble se faire lentement mais sûrement. Ironiquement, Elon Musk aura défié les autorités californiennes et reparti son usine de la région de San Francisco. Ce faisant, tout semble indiquer que ces autorités auraient «plié» et accepté sa décision. Même Trump l’aurait approuvé (ce qui n’est pas trop surprenant, n’est-ce pas?). Je m’attends donc à ce que les constructeurs remettent leurs «voitures de presse» sur route dans un avenir plus ou moins rapproché. Il y aura donc plusieurs véhicules reconduits dans leurs parcs mais ça ne m’importe peu. Il faut parfois raviver la mémoire des lecteurs.

Ce qui est plus inquiétant, c’est l’attitude un peu défaitiste de certains constructeurs. Par exemple, dans Automotive News, le japonais Toyota nous faisait savoir, par l’entremise de ses administrateurs, qu’on devrait s’attendre à un écrasement («collapse») du marché. Et, semble-t-il, Honda et Mazda verraient cela d’un même œil. Brrr! «Wait and see!»

Je ne pouvais résister…

Je ne pouvais résister à vous montrer ces photos d’un dessin de l’atelier Alimelec Design qui a su créer un véritable monstre de «drift» (ou autres folies du genre) basé sur une Ford Crown Victoria. Pourquoi une Crown Vic? Il y en a tellement à vendre sur le marché (surtout d’anciennes auto-patrouilles) que modifier un tel bahut devrait être simple, surtout que la Crown Vic est montée sur un châssis rigide et qu’elle est composée de pièces tellement communes. Je me rappelle d’avoir publié un article dans La Presse où il était question d’un des ingénieurs de Ford qui présentait sa Crown Victoria de «course» à SEMA. Équipée d’un V8 Cobra à compresseur de Mustang GT de l’époque, d’une boîte automatique «Special Police» et d’un pont arrière de Lincoln Town Car limousine, cette auto était aussi enregistrée à l’épreuve One Lap of America (dans laquelle, je crois, elle avait terminé première de sa catégorie). L’ingénieur était aussi un spécialiste de «drift» et il m’avait donné «toute une ride» sur le circuit temporaire entre les deux édifices d’exposition de SEMA à Las Vegas. J’aimerais bien retrouver cet article….

Dream dump

Super messed up dream where alex cheated with my mom!!! She was gone for a trip and came back and admitted it to me like it was an accident. My dad didnt care. Also alex had just become my step brother or step cousin cuz his dad got married to like my aunt? Anyway I worked with jenn and izzy and they knew. I ate a bag if chex mix and yelled at them.

Matt n anne had reception or wedding, family was super rude af so he told me to make thank you notes only for specific people. Then I was in Little witch academia, brooms were malfunctioning because they were made by Elon Musk. We left his mansion and flew around under these power poles that were arcing and letting off electricity. I was in the forest and ran down this steep hill with dead and falling trees in the night. I ran to the work lockup and homeless guys started appearing and following me, flew away on my broom.

Was staying at this haunted old mansion. My mom might have used to live there? I was in a room with 3 fireplaces going, tried to put them out. Then in bathroom when a door to the laundry kept opening by itself, very creepy. Then I was there with a whole class, everyone had submitted a drawing of a bio of themselves but no one told me cuz hadn't worked with a group. One girl there I was really jealous of, she was like Linnea and Tedi combined. Her drawing was of her with a black person saying stuff about equality, but her bio also said she was a cheerleader so I was like, that's how shes so good at being social

Dreamed I had been moved into a group home cuz of mental health, but then got into some school or university with some elite girl dorm or sorority? Idk I went from one group in a nice house to a really big group in dorm style room with bunk beds. Girls were all really cool, Kaitlyn corkery was there and didnt remember me. Thought she was gonna be stuck up but she wanted to hang out. Went to some event or meal, lots of people drunk, maybe it was winter with ice skating? Brought Alex's skateboard. Courtney anderson got kicked out of our group, tried to be soothing but she was reading one of my cover letters and crying that she didnt have the experience.

Dreamed I was still dating elliot but wanted to dump him for alex, but I was also flirting/making out w Nina who was also Jennifer Lawrence at the same time? I felt really shitty and hadn't spoken to eliot for days and days, also Sirius black was his godfather and had just died. Went to the Porters house which was this big historic place everyone hung out. Then was looking for bats and a camping spot with work crew. Wanted to drive to moquoketa caves but it was late at night. Texted olivia hottle about her being pregnant all the time? Also Lauren showed up and was trying to show me something or be a nice sister to me

I was in a book store looking at the manga and comics and there was huge section on aadams family, apparently started in 20s by same guy as Opus? First book had goth lady dating a cute penguin, named Alice Walker. Movie made about it, she was Greek orthodox and family was mad she was wearing socks instead of hose, then woke up

Tourmaline came over, she forgot my name. Had asked someone 2 sing her a lullaby on FB and I almost did but then mad she forgot my name. She went by They also, forgot when introducing her to parents. She started making hot dogs in our kitchen, burnt them in oven. Smthn bout Davin being my step grandpa somehow? Then at this family reunion, big neighbors house was a muppet face that talked. King bumi was there testing our bending, I was the avatar but didnt know firebending yet, dodged him with water and air. He threw rocks and kids tried to find them, I knew he was gonna hang onto one. Let a little toddler have it instead and win his contest. Then back in high school at lunch, everyone outside. Couldn't find friends, saw Nate and elliot doing hackey sack but didnt want to be around them. Went looking for allison Richmond?

Rly scary, ppl were in black mirror-esque simulation where I kept dying but could come back to choose different choice and keep going. Mine was at reunion party with Ellen, not eating weird toadstool. Alex was in a mansion party, people there drank this mix of sodas that turned them into fast zombies, his doc warned him to hide but they found him in a few different places. In one, he found vaccine to it and put a boy to sleep, I thought syringe was poison and he was gonna shoot him but it was a vaccine and alex and bay kept running thru the house to hide. I got caught by little kid with bloody eyes, tried to stab him but he didnt care. Cello music happening, slow motion. Also smthn bout trying to find a different desktop pic cuz mine had Mike in it even tho alex didnt know that was him, all my other pics were old ones with me and elliot in high school and my hair was short and flipped out at the bottom, looked really bad. Then zombie dream continued after waking up n sleeping again, I was young teen with bunch of others and my parents, stormy night, we were travelling to that mansion and I was trying to warn everyone to hide cuz no one knew about the zombies. Then was on weird spiderman themed waterpark ride, somebody in costume yanked my hair as I was going down slide, got really mad but couldn't find them afterwards because everyone was in spiderman costumes

Dreamed I was camping 4 work again on the steep trail at elwha dam. There was a deep cave I didnt go into. We were leaving and I had all this laundry to do. Then went to alex's mom or dad house, brad was there and also elliot. well like it kind of gets sad bc like elon musk is a known alcoholic w like a shitty wife, but hes not that great of a person either. Hes done some shady stuff and exploits the working class for long hours with little breaks bc of "high" wages, which where i live is really like nothing. but elon is not married anymore fjkdks do you mean his gf? i dont claim him to be the nicest person or a morally good person. i just really admire his own thoughts and future plans, you know? i find him very fascinating and love him from interviews etc. (so all from what i see behind a screen) hm yea i read some things about the tesla workers, sucks really. i don’t think he should be rushing things so badly fjdkslsg idk what goes on his head. i think you can see that kind of rushed side in interviews too or is that just me? uhh i don’t think airplanes are really the biggest issue to climate change, millions fly with planes all day and i don’t think we can change that. but i can see why you would take issue with that :/
