Mid-way through designing a fan monster for AU reasons, and I end up realising that the yuboys die due to Zarc-related complications in the exact order needed for the process to create a philosopher's stone (assuming you see Yuuri and Yuuya dying to one another simultaneously)
Literally Zarc's posthumous magnum opus that revives him in the end. what the hell

WIP WEDNESDAY;
I was tagged (over MULTIPLE weeks) by @lilywatt @a-treides @greenecreek (possibly more) to show some wips, and I finally have something to share! Life has been busy - applying for jobs and going back to work in general etc - but I have some things I wanted to showcase, so enjoy Asami Wednesday! Thank you sm for the tags🤍
I’ve been talking to @shellibisshe about our gals Amara & Asami recently, which has inspired me to FINALLY draw Asami in her fantasy AU form! Based on the end credits sequence set in a fantasy world, Asami is a mermaid that can turn human out of the water (think aquamarine) so I’m working on her human and mermaid designs! She has a v little mermaid coded moment with Barbarian Bakugo - as she saved him from drowning when he falls off of Kiri in dragon form tehe. Alongside that I’m currently writing out her timeline (also FINALLY) so have a snippet of her first day at UA! I still have plenty more to write before it’s ready to share but I’m waiting on my new tablet keyboard to arrive so my life is easier lmao. I hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
“Asami’s first official day was a rollercoaster. The anxiety she felt standing at the front of the class made her want to burst into tears, seeing so many talented yet unfamiliar faces now staring at her in confusion
Being thrust into a room about to elect their class president was the perfect cover to slip into her back row seat and hope no one approached her right away
A few classmates had already expressed excited at her joining the class, while a few faces across the room looked more then displeased - one boy in particular attempting to murder her with his eyes
Before she knew it homeroom was over, and lunch was about to start. Unsure where to go or what to do, Asami stayed sat in her seat, before a hoard of students flooded her table to make introductions
The first names that stuck in her mind were Mina, Kirishima and Denki, while a few more reserved members approached her more gently
A tall boy by the name of Ida - the newly elected class president - ushered the hoard of questioning students away before offering Asami the opportunity to have lunch with himself and some other classmates
Asami bashfully accepted, watching as everyone left the classroom before being introduced to a girl names Ochaco and a boy named Izuku
For the first time ever, Asami was eating lunch with other students. The awe of the moment left her speechless for the most part, but the odd few questions throw her direction made her talk more than she was used to. It was a pleasant conversation
The day ended on a slightly unpleasant note however. Whilst leaving the classroom to go to her new accommodation, Asami was approached by the same scowling boy from before
His tone was unpleasant and accusatory, something she had grown used to over time, but his words struck her hard as he accused her of having a free pass into the best hero school in the country
The words stung a lot, and made her already inferior demeanour grow tenfold”

@wolfie-1221 posted a list of their fav rhaenicent fics 🤌 10/10 recommendations
I've been inspired to share my own list since I've been spending probably too much time on ao3 - hopefully it will be helpful for anyone looking to start reading rhaenicent (note that few are already mentioned in the above mentioned post)
My favourites (in no particular order):
(WIP) Seven (by @comicxgrl)
The story follows two alternating timelines and you're equally invested in both. It's so so well written, you fall in love with the characters immediately, the pacing of the story line is incredible and with only 5 chapters published, I think story is slowly set up for the main arc. The author is an architect and you can feel the thought process and clear intention behind every line and action.
(WIP) Out of sun (by @lumyart )
Rhaenyra and Alicent share a complicated past. Skip 10yrs later, Alicent is an excellent surgeon, has three kids and a husband. Their paths cross again when Targaryen Enterprises start being involved with Alicent's hospital.
Tags for this story are #bdsm #makingkinkemotional #emotionalslowburn - I think that's all you need to know?
I feel like it's really hard to write about bdsm w/o making it feel gratuitous. That's not the case here. @lumyart involves it as one of the main plot points of the story. It explores the emotional/psychological reason/need behind kinks and how those relationships differ etc. The push and pull in their relationship is dizzying, as the story progresses we get snippets of their past and what went wrong between them and how did they get where they are now. It almost feels like you're uncovering a mystery. There's many layers to the story and each chapter gifts you one piece of the puzzle.
See also: Blame it on Fate (morning show au we deserved) | silver sparks (wish this was the s02 hod script)
Love is complicated (by @molter-writes)
Absolute favourite of molter's fics and that's really hard to decide on.
This story made me want to start a campaign to get @molter-writes to actually write a rhaenicent Notting Hill AU.
Don't even read the summary. Just read everything and anything by @molter-writes , it will always deliver strong writing, a compelling storyline and characters that you can't help but fall in love with.
Bodhrán beat (by @molter-writes)
I'm not a monarchist but I will make an exception for this modern royals au. Whatever you think this fic is about, you are mistaken.
Only one chapter posted so far but it's so so good. I don't think you realise how unwell I was after I read it.
See also: (WIP) leaf and blade | (Completed) grey ridge (ríl liatroma) | (Completed) ride the dragon (and do it quickly) | (WIP) song of the exposition
(WIP) Lying (in the hollows of your heart)  (by @wakesirens)
I usually read only modern AUs (because of the misogyny in Westeros, I have enough of that irl thanks) but this fic is amazing nonetheless. Keeping Baelon alive and him being king gives us an alternate version of Rhaenyra's life. One where she's his most trusted advisor and representative of the Crown but she's not bound to the throne/realm in same way as the heir. This allows her to still attain power and freedom usually not afforded to women. Oh and Alicent works in a brothel.
What you wanted (by mrdcai)
Berlin, spies, complicated past, angst
Again it's just excellent writing! This one only has 1/3 chapters out but I'm already convinced that it deserves to be among top five fics. Only downside is that the story will only have three chapters, though a part of me is hoping that the author will change their mind and make it a longer story.
Side note, I keep imagining Alicent as Olivia Cooke's character from Slow Horses... great spy/thriller show btw
See also: Desire (I want to turn into you)
Tumblr media
Some other fics I loved:
(WIP) Honey, make this easy (by nerdsofdeath)
Alicent is a history professor at university and Rhaenyra is her new TA. It's a slow burn and v angsty 😭
Midnights Like This (by pure_black_wings)
College AU, they're two idiots in love that don't know how to cope.
War of Hearts (by Silanahfire)
Rhaenyra Targaryen is barren and the realm needs an heir. The King and Grand Maester Mellos found a solution in the scripts of Old Valyria. Alicent Hightower will carry her child, even if the estrangement between the two seemed impossible to end. An arranged marriage waits both.
(WIP) You Broke Me (by skullgamerscy)
Angst 😭
The Silver Queen and the Lady in Green (by Wandering Fan)
This is AU in every sense of the word. The author built a whole different world with its own lore. Very very slow burn

(DBS Broly's Redesign) Brokk's Full Body Reference
So, here he is, I redesigned DBS Broly and made him into a different character, basically, because there is ONLY ONE Broly to me, okay? And it's from Z. I like DBS Broly, but no way he's the Broly, he should have been a different character, which is why I made this design and changed his name for my AU. His name is Brokk, he was sent to planet Vampa, like in the movie/manga, though the circumstances are different. He isn't a mutant/Legendary Super Saiyan/whatever explanation they gave in DBS and got sent to Planet Vampa as a baby to conquer it, as there were inhabitants in my story, whom operated in tribes. Also, he's not related to Paragus and Broly.
He did a good job at exterminating the intelligent life, but felt a kinship towards the animals, specially towards the Vampa Beast, Ba. Brokk then chose to spare the wild life and grew up alongside it, getting more in touch with his animalistic side, eventually forgetting his speech. He basically lived like Tarzan at the difficult environment of the planet, being fine with it, though he grew older, Brokk missed talking with someone like him sometimes and wondered what was out there in the universe.
And then Cheelai and Lemo arrive at the planet to collect some samples for their boss (NOT Frieza, he's DEAD here), and shenanigans ensue.
Not sure if I should classify him as an OC or not. :V I tried to give him a very SAVAGE look, to show the harsh environment he had to live through. Just giving three scars like in DBS seemed a lackluster.
I also wanted to draw Brokk in the clothes given by Cheelai and Lemo once they take him with them. I wasn't planning to change them much from the original because I thought it was fine as it was, then I realized there are already TOO MANY CHARACTERS with green and purple color scheme (heck, even my OC, Aubera, wears green and purple), so I decided to change it a bit. I thought of him wearing the colors that indicate a forest.
I don't know if he'll still have the "Wrathful State" ability, it seemed more like an excuse for him to use the power of the Great Ape without transforming, and it made me annoyed. I love kaiju battles (and the TAILS should be brought back)! :V If I incorporate it, I might change it a bit, maybe make it more related to his savage/animalistic side due to the unique circumstances he was raised in.
By the way, Brokk has been barefoot for so long, he wouldn't want to wear shoes/boots. He eventually gets to use sandals, though he still prefers to feel the ground under his feet.

15 Video Games that could translate well into a TV series or Film
Hi, everyone. I mentioned in my last post that my favourite Final Fantasy game Final Fantasy 4 would make an excellent TV series as long as it stays true to the source material, but after thinking about it, it’s not the only one. And with the success of the Mario Brothers film, I think other iconic stand a good chance at making a great show. Note that some of these game have already been made into movies or shows, but I mention them anyway because they still have what takes to translate into amazing TV shows or film when they’re respected and the follows the source material. And above all else, culture wars and politics stay out of them. Games and fantasies are a neutral territory for everyone. I will also not mention video games that already have great shows or movies made out of them, so I will not bring up Sonic the Hedgehog.
Tumblr media
1- Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (anime series): This is the best LoZ video game in opinion and it had a very episodic feel to it within itself. It has been adapted into manga four times and I can confirm as someone who read them that they were all great. With that said, this game could definitely translate beautifully into in anime TV series. Heck, the illustrations in the manual were fit for an anime as they were.
Tumblr media
2- Chrono Trigger (anime series): This is another video game that feels episodic for obvious reasons and it has a tight cast. Plus, the art was already made by Akira Toriyama who also did the art of several Dragon Quest video games which also got several successful anime spin offs. Plus, the characters are very well developed and animated. My only nitpick is that I would not give the hero Crono a voice. In fact, I think it would be better and a very nice twist if he was mute because you don’t need to be noisy to be a hero. Also, this anime would have to be drawn by Akira Toriyama. Period.
Tumblr media
3- Secret of Mana (aka Secret of Mana 2 in Japan) (anime or cartoon): This game’s story and visuals are a fan favourite and are beloved even by adults. Plus, I could imagine this anime/cartoon as a big hit with kids too. However, it has to stay true to the plot and the characters have to be in character all the way down to their true names.
Tumblr media
4- Resident Evil (CGI film): Now, I know what you’re all thinking, but hear me out. When I propose making a movie out of RE, I mean RE 1 the video game. Not a spin off, not a reimagining, not an AU and not a self-insert fanwork that got greenlit. I mean a film that stays 100% true to the plot of the game that started it all. Of course, we can leave out the puzzles and just reference them instead. Also, I would have the narrative switch between Chris and Jill. Who knows? Maybe a proper movie will remind Capcom what RE really is and set it back on the right path.
Tumblr media
5- Silent Hill (CGI or live action film): Considering a revival of the video game franchise, perhaps a proper movie is in order. Like my RE suggestion, I can easily see the first game translating into an amazing film. Harry Mason is so underrated and he deserves more respect than being called “feminine” for being a good dad. He’s also a very relatable character because he isn’t a man of action. He’s everyman who dearly loves his daughter.
Tumblr media
6- Darkstalkers (anime series): Usually, fighting games don’t translate well into film or shows because each character’s story is too unique and you usually too big of a cast to work with. However, Darkstalkers is the exception because it usually 90% of the same cast, each character’s story intertwines and Morrigan is a pretty badass heroine. She as “strong female” as they come. She kicks butt, is independent and she’s got style. Plus, she did it all FIRST long before Bayonetta.
Tumblr media
7- Final Fantasy V (anime series): Like FF4, FF5 which I admit is also my second favourite FF game, has an amazing and unique story which would translate beautifully into an anime series. It has a tight well developed cast that makes you laugh and root for them, Bartz is a charming hero, ExDeath is a delightfully evil villain and the art and music of the game is stunning. However, it has to stay true to the source material unlike the attempt that was made in the past which was pretty bad.
Tumblr media
8- Dino Crisis (CGI or live action film): This video game was made to be film material as it even feels like the long lost sister of Jurassic Park. It is also another video game that has a strong female protagonist Regina who breaks all the molds. Like with RE, I would just reference the puzzles and I would true to the source material, but I would forgive some liberties because the setting is supposed to be in the future and now, that future is past. Plus, you can’t go wrong with dinosaurs.
Tumblr media
9- Dead Space (CGI, live action or cartoon film): Not much to say here except that this franchise already had an animated prequel, so why not just go the whole nine yards and make the first game into a film? The twist at the end is one of the best twists in writing I have ever seen. The story alone plays out like a modern Lovecraft film.
Tumblr media
10- Castlevania (cartoon or anime series): I know this one recently had a series, but it was bad. The jokes were not funny, the plot was boring, the characters were not likeable or in character, and the obvious hate towards Christianity was in poor taste especially because the real Castlevania is religion neutral and positive. The art was solid though and the source material makes for a solid TV series. However, when creating a proper series for this franchise, you have to accept that it has Christian themes. If you can’t, then you shouldn’t be working on it. Plus, if you want to adapt it into your own way, the best blank canvas Belmont to use is Simon and even then, please make him likeable and a hero we can root for.
Tumblr media
11- Parasite Eve (anime film): This video even felt like a cop-horror movie and considering it is actually the sequel of a novel with the same name which also got the film treatment, it would be great. However, I would make it an anime not live action especially consider what Mitochondria Eve and the monsters look like. In fact, this game had a manga based on it and it was nice. And Aya Brea was unjustly forgotten. She deserves to be remembered and known.
Tumblr media
12- Marvel’s Spider-Man (cartoon series): Honestly, I’m surprised that this game was not pitched as a cartoon series first because THIS is exactly the type of Spider-Man we want to see more of. We’re long overdue for a non-child-friendly Spider-Man as it is. My only nitpick is that it would look even better and the facial expression would be more passionate if it was animated in 2D.
Tumblr media
13- Final Fantasy VI (anime series): This was my brother’s favourite FF game and I have to admit that it was FF’s last great game before it developed an identity crisis. When I think about it, it can work, but you would have to condense the cast in such a way that some characters become secondary or tertiary ones. The main cast would work for this story in order for it work as anime would have to be Terra, Locke, Celes, Edgar and Sabin. That’s it. They have the most impactful roles in the story and the plot only moves on as long as they are there. Don’t get me wrong, I like the other characters too, but their stories are very personal and they are more like team mates towards one of the five main characters.
Tumblr media
14- A Plague Tale (anime or cartoon series): Both Innocence and Requiem feel episodic and play out like a TV drama within itself. It is a beautiful story worth animated as a cartoon or anime because you don’t see many like it. The bond between Amelia and Hugo is absolutely touching and while it sad, it’s a beautiful kind of sadness.
Tumblr media
15- Metal Gear (CGI or cartoon series): Did you know that Solid Snake was actually inspired by both Rambo and Van Damme? Well, that alone says a lot. Snake has the personality of a TV character to begin with and the series could play out like multiple seasons of a series that could become a cult classic. My only proposal is that one you do Metal Gear Solid, stop. After that game, everything got weird, contradictory and confusing. Also, let’s animate it. The actors who inspired Snake’s look are too old to play him and I can’t imagine anyone else doing so.

20 and 21 for Kaito!
kaito posting……… we know how this will go down
20. A Weird Headcanon
What a perfect question to submit so I can talk about the Tenjo Cousin concept that Sorrel has me hooked on 👁👁
So one of my all time favorite headcanons to write fic and conversation for is how Yusaku and Kaito are actually related, they’re cousins now, I said so
A lot of it traces back to similarities in their characters, in their interpersonal relationships and friend groups, but also the fact that Yusaku uses Photon Thrasher in a duel against the Hanoi before he uncovers the Cyberse pile deck left by Ai
Like out of every card you could have used, Photon Thrasher, from an archetype we have canon confirmation for being created by dimensional science…………. interesting pick! I’m NOT gonna focus on it!!! (lying)
I love just finding a way to make them work as a family dynamic, but I also just want to give Yusaku a strong blood relative to go with the strong found family he’s already made, I like to make these loners feel a bit less lonely
Galaxy also being one of the Zexal anime decks that has a Link monster is v cute
Also looove theorizing Kaito’s background and what could have been, like why does he have the same diamond pattern on his turtle neck that Rio does on her out of school wear, and in a related note why does he look so much like his dragon in both his hair design and the previously mentioned outfit, just all those little details and where they could have been going-
One fic I’ve been working super hard on in hopes to publish is a post-canon AU that’s a focus on reincarnation and the power of human spirit and it’s mostly a project to answer my own lingering questions on certain aspects of Zexal canon, it’s very GoT/HoTD inspired and takes some of the pre-established history with warring kings but add slightly more politics, extra battles, and also dragons, but told through memories during some post canon conflict that ties it all together, one day I’ll actually make a post about it but for right now it remains a brainchild with 3 outlines and a 10k+ lore outline
21. When do you think they were at their happiest?
Oh this is a good question
Ok so, preview for part of the analysis essay but-
It’s actually kind of sad because most of Kaito’s pictured happiness in BOTH spin-offs he appears in is all very past tense. Like, beside his general demeanor and the obvious instances, Kaito’s color palettes are a lot brighter in both the time he spends in the family cabin and in Haruto’s baby days in Zexal and in the Arc V High School tournament flashbacks, he’s also essentially never shown frowning anytime the shows recall him before current canon. The way they utilize color with Kaito’s regression into himself is brilliant, he’s the brightest thing in the hallway of Heartland Tower when Haruto is taken from him, he’s one of brightest things in the rain when Chris leaves, but water is going to darken the colors he’s wearing, another thing to really show that this moment is the last thing that pushed him into being Kaito who we recognize
I want to do more color analysis for him in canon too but that’s not the question fjdhdhsbdb
Despite that, I’d actually argue Kaito’s happiest in the end of Zexal(and Arc V but that’s a slightly different subject, end of the tunnel is similar!!), because he endured and arguably survived everything that came to break him, moon duel pending since the Code basically said lmao to that.
He allowed himself to open back up after being cast aside and was rewarded for it because not only did he make new everlasting bonds, but all of these people who left him and left a such a heavy mark on him came back to him. They not only came back, they’re brought back to him apologetically after acknowledging the things they did to him.
Kaito doesn’t get to do much in Zexal II mostly because the show got a little messy with bringing in more cast and having a few plot threads that actually needed to be wrapped up that had to take priority, but IMO he does arguably get one of the best ends in Zexal, Arc V is a weird second element that’ll get its own discussion piece one day

WHUMPTOBER 2023, DAY 5: “You better pray I don't get up this time around.” Debris | Pinned Down | “It's broken.”
Welcome to my annual Peregrineship fic, because every year is the same: I write them, I swear I'll write them more this year pinky promise, and then I just don't. That's my shtick. (Actually, Fly, it's your second ShuSere fic this year.) For real? Well, that's cool. Hasn't happened since 2019, I'm pretty sure! Yeehaw.
I honestly stared at the lyric, went "wow that sounds like Shun Kurosaki", and went from there. I'm not even in any shade of YGO mood atm, and I'm sure you can tell because I was very uninspired and it's short compared to what it could've been. Oh well! That's the trials and tribulations of a month-long challenge for you.
I did also do "It's broken" while I was it because, c'mon… It's Kurosaki. It's even odd I didn't break a rib like I usually do when it's him. See? I'm generous! I'm not a one-trick pony when I want to!
Speaking of always doing the same thing, just better each year. I didn't feel like writing canon divergent A5 crap again, so this time, I busted out an AU! Specifically, a Fire Emblem Engage AU, because it's light on storytelling but would allow me to easily have a character of obvious Japanese origins (thanks, Kagetsu!). So, in this one, I made Serena a wolf knight and Shun a wyvern knight because it made sense and also they're both classes I love playing in the game (thanks, Kagetsu! again).
I've also added a bunch of accents because this game bathes in stupid Baguettese-ish lore and I'm taking full advantage of it.
-------------------
Tooth and Nail
Summary: The battle rages on, someone falls from a wyvern, and it becomes another knight's problem.
Fandom: Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V // Fire Emblem Engage AU
Word Count: 1.3K words
AO3 version available here.
------------------
Amidst the smoke and debris of the battle, there runs a human-sized wolf. It sneaks through the enemy hordes, a dagger taking down those who get too close in swift moves, leaving only pawprints and the ashy blood of the long-gone Corrupted behind it.
The wolf isn’t running alone, far from it. Riding it is a knight whose eyes are fixated on the sky, a dagger always in her right hand and the left on the reins of her beast. Her armour, as slim as it is, is spotted with dirt and ash, rusts and browns mixing in with the blacks and greys until the original silver can barely be spotted by the naked eye.
The enemy troops are finally dwindling after hours of sending the dead back to their graves. Good thing, because the army of the Divine Dragon is starting to get tired. She has seen so many of her allies injured and teetering, the healers tired on the sidelines and barely hanging on themselves, and so many chipped-off weapons. The Emblems help, but only up to a certain point; and they need to avoid that stage of fatigue.
She herself has just disengaged from Ephraim, which considering they’re both so silent, only changes the background noise ever so slightly. It helps focusing, she supposes, especially since she’s been sent as reinforcement.
Then a body falls from the sky and, without even a wink of hesitation, the wolf knight speeds ahead.
For a long moment, she can only hear her heartbeats inside her brain. No new scream reaches her ears, her hands move on their own to eliminate enemies and protect both her mount and herself. She doesn’t have time for any of the Corrupted, no matter their rank in the hierarchy of power unofficially established among them.
She only stops when she reaches an armoured wyvern that’s landed near the body. It’s a bit of relief to see her companion has managed to land on his legs, sparing so many organs and dangerous bones in his fall; but the damage is clear, and despite the already pitter-pattering of the Corrupted corpse in front of them all, there is little reassurance to be found amidst the poison.
She dismounts in a flash, but before she can rush, she watches her comrade rises to his feet – or at least attempts to.
Somehow still able to move his feet in a coherent manner, he pierces the chest of his enemy on shaky legs and with trembling arms, gritting his teeth and prying his eyes open, before falling back down. The Corrupted fades away from existence at last.
“You better pray that I don’t get up this time around,” he spits out with a glare of fire risen at the sky, his hand grippling onto his spare spear with such strength that his knuckles have turned white.
She decides enough and enough and finally runs to him, her beast in tow, her ears careful to the tracks of foes but her eyes now glued to her companion, her friend, perhaps something more whose nature she now cannot ponder on.
Unfortunately, the wyvern doesn’t see it that way – and so she has to stop in front of her feet, recognizing the battle scars and knowing gaze of a tired but fiercely protective beast of scale and claw, the strongest in their army, whose armour is nowhere near as solid as her own skin. This isn’t the sort of barrier you can go through unscathed, but here, no fight has to be fought.
“Étranger, it’s me, Séréna,” the puny human says. “You recognize me, do you?”
The wyvern leans towards her, stares at her for a moment, and leans back.
“Thank you.” She turns to her beloved mount. “Luna, please stay here with Étranger. I’m going to check up on Shun.”
The wolf nods her head up and down before she rolls into a ball by the wyvern’s paws, letting her cavalier finally finish running to her companion.
It’s about time she does so: her fellow knight is biting his lip in what must be terrible pain, eyes shut close with tears prickling at their corners, so she kneels to his level. Even putting her hands on his shoulders doesn’t cause a reaction, so she has to resort to words – neither of their forte.
“Hey, can you hear me?”
That gets him to open his eyes again, his gaze still sharp as a blade in spite of it all.
“Séréna…? ’s you…?”
His voice is raspy yet remains understandable.
“Yes, it’s me. Are you injured?”
“I guess,” he hardly replies. “Annoyin’ shit, but nothin’ deadly.”
“Let me check.”
He takes a long, good look at her; then sighs and, slowly, switches position as to have his legs available to her.
“Make it quick, the battle’s not over yet.”
“For you, it probably is.” He prepares a witty response; she doesn’t let him be. “Don’t move until I tell you to.”
Shun blows hot air out of his nose but chooses to remain silent.
Of course she’s never been a healer, has never been good at diagnosing any sort of problems, let alone find a solution for your physical hurt. All she knows is from experience, experience that’s just enough to know what’s wrong in some broad stroke. She doubts anyone in the Divine Army trusts her with precise diagnosis; but when someone needs help, or getting to someone else who can provide it, now it becomes her mission. That’s what she’s learned by fighting by the side of the Divine Army.
Anyway, Shun’s legs are hurting, that much is clear. He can’t use them properly anymore, not without tumbling like a newborn foal or screaming with every other part of his body. When she tries touching them, just to evaluate how bad it gets, his face distorts and he loudly curses in a language she doesn’t speak. One of them is bent in such a way that she can only describe it as a capital letter. If she wasn’t used to it, perhaps she’d have been choked shocked – but she’s used to blood, ash, and injuries.
“It’s broken,” she says as bluntly as possible, so it can register through his thick skull. “In fact, they’re most likely both broken. No doubt about your left one, at least, that thing’s bent.”
“Goddammit,” he curses under his breath.
“I can’t do anything about it on my own,” she admits, shame washing over her like pelting rain. “I need to bring you to a healer as soon as possible.”
“Sucks ass,” he swears again.
Séréna gets back to her foot and gives him her hand.
“Come on. We’re riding my wolf to Ruri, or whoever else’s the nearest cleric.”
He doesn’t want to agree, she can plainly see it.
“Étranger can still carry me.”
The wyvern in question loudly blows from her nostrils.
“How do you plan on manoeuvring a wyvern without being able to use your legs?”
He swears under his breath again but grabs her hand anyway and pushes himself up. She barely has the time to catch him before he falls over, pain all over his face. In the end, she decides she may as well carry him like her bride; it’ll be both easier and shorter.
For all of his bravado, once in her arms, he melts a little, letting his eyes close back down. Even his breathing seems to even out, much to her incomprehension, and it’s only now that she lets herself have her heart sunk by how vulnerable he is. It’s like it shouldn’t even happen, but now that she does know how bad he must be feeling, her strive to protect him has increased tenfold. His life is in her hands and it’s a blood-soaked honour.
As carefully as one can, she sets him on Luna’s back, then climbs on top of the mount in front of him.
“Hold my waist,” she tells him. “I’ll be careful, but it’ll hurt anyway.”
“Whatever it takes,” he replies as he spits out. “Let’s… not make this drag on.”
“Agreed. Luna, onwards.”
The wolf turns around and, swiftly, takes off back to their army’s core.

Looking to Break a Man’s Heart, Starlight? (Only if it’s Yours Shortstack.) - Dragon Age Soulmate AU Oneshot (Varric x OC)
Zara’s brother snorted, “What the hell kind of person is your soulmate, asking something like that when you first meet? Besides mistaking you from some pretty little bar wench, he’s also assuming you wouldn’t break a man’s legs first.”
The half elf laughed, “Well, even a hardened warrior likes to know they're attractive, Lyre. This is why your soulmate's first words are telling you to piss off.”
The older warrior shook his head, “Maker preserve whatever poor fool ends up with you Zar, they don’t know what they’re getting into.”
***
Bartrand told him soulmates didn’t matter, he’d be expected to do what was necessary for the family. His brother had said that went doubly so when it appeared as though Varric’s soulmate wasn’t a dwarf. Perhaps that was why he hated the idea of being a good dwarf so much, because it meant that he couldn’t be with the person that fate had chosen for him, the one person in this life who was undeniably supposed to belong to him. The kind of belonging that the noble ladies read about in their romance novels, where the love interests mesh in the way that there is no room for doubt about their feelings. The kind of love he knows he’ll never have.
Bianca can never be his, but she fills the emptiness he knows will always be there and that’s enough for now.
***
Zara had left home four years ago, traveling wherever they could get passage to. They’d spent most of the last few years traveling between Nevarra, Tevinter and Orlais, with a few trips in and out of the Free Marches. It was easy to resupply and lay low there, which is why they were looking for the Hanged Man in Kirkwall’s Lowtown. A helpful city guard had told them it was a cheap and easy place to stay for a few nights, if they didn’t mind the rowdy crowds that were usually there. After asking a few locals for help, they finally saw the tavern and luckily for them it was a quiet night inside. There was a large group in the corner, playing a game of cards and there were a few other scant patrons scattered from table to table. The warrior made their way to the tavern owner’s bar, already pulling out more coins than they knew the room would cost. A little extra always ensured people kept their mouths shut.
The man was more than happy to take the coin, before gesturing to the stairs across the way.
“Third room on the right is free, the door locks if you want the key.”
A nod, and he passes said key to them and Zara starts off across the room.
***
Varric has always been weak for a pretty face and lots of freckles, so when the red headed, half elf steps into the tavern he finds himself paying them a little more attention than he would ever own up to. The loose, v-necked and sleeveless tunic shirt lets him see that the freckles are littered further and further down, a sea of stars on skin. They walked into the room like they owned it and there was a natural confidence there, the same kind that he’d always seen Hawke wear into a room. Of course, while he was attempting to be subtle it didn’t work out, because Isabelle noticed where he was looking and grinned.
“Well now, that has to be the finest thing to walk into this dingy old bar since our lovely Mira.” the pirate grinned, “Of course you saw them first, Varric, so I will be kind enough to offer you the first flirtation.”
She was wiggling her eyebrows at him and he could already hear Hawke whooping from his other side.
“Alright Rivain, if you insist.” He chuckled, “But if I get my lights knocked out, you have to carry me up to my room.”
“I don’t know about carry, but I’ll do my best.” she says with a wink, “Worth it to see whatever is about to happen.”
***
Zara has almost made it to the stairs when the dwarf from the group in the corner makes his way to them, clearing his throat as he stops in front of them. The warrior hopes that this guy isn’t about to try and start a fight, but something about the way his friends are all giggling and falling all over each other tells them that’s not the case. Bemusedly, they cross their arms over their chest, one hip cocked to the side as they make eye contact with him.
He grins, “Looking to break a man’s heart tonight, Starlight?”
It’s like electricity over their skin as the words flow past his lips and they don’t freeze like they thought they would. Instead, the words come to them as naturally and quickly as if it was breathing.
“Only if it’s yours, Shortstack.” Zara replies, lips curling up at the corners, “and only if you really mean it.”
***
Andraste’s flaming knickers. He had not thought he would ever hear the words written across his upper arm, or that the person saying them would be so… well, so attractive. Sure, they looked like they could kick his ass into next week, but what kind of idiot didn’t want someone like that, it meant less worrying about their well being. For once in his life, Varric Tethras has nothing to say in response, he opens his mouth and then closes it again, a flush creeping up his neck as he hears Mira and Isabelle laughing from behind him.
“What’s the matter, cat got your tongue?” the half elf says, eyes alight with mischief, “Or is the stunned silence thing another flirtation technique?”
Maker’s breath, they’re witty as well. Andraste preserve him, that he does not break every rule he’s given himself over the years.
“Oh no, this is new.” He chuckles, “You just hit all the right buttons, Starlight.”
The fact that he’s not the only one blushing now is good, especially when he can hear the way they fumble over their next words.
“I… I have a name. You could just ask for it.” they grumble, “A-and why Starlight? It sounds so… sweet and sappy.”
Anders has joined in on the laughter while Fenris smirks behind his mug and Merril seems to be trying to ask Isabelle what’s so funny. Varric offers the half elf his charming, roguish grin and gestures to the table.
“Join us for a game and maybe I’ll tell you.”
***
One game that night turned into three and the few nights they were supposed to stay turned into months, which eventually turned into years. At first they stay because they’re curious, mostly about Varric and also a bit about the rest of the ragtag little group, but they become attached and find that they care quite a bit for the group.  Zara is there for the hardships, they are there when Bartrand goes mad and when Leandra is captured by that psychopath in the tunnels beneath the city. They help Mira fight for the mages, free slaves and fight the Arishok. They are there in the final fight, when Orsino and Meredith both go crazy. As for their relationship with Varric, their soulmate, it’s not what they expected. He lets them be close, but never too close and he tells them that as a member of House Tethras and now the one who had to take over all the responsibility, the Merchants Guild wouldn’t take well to them being together. It would risk everything if he wasn’t careful.
Whether they can or cannot because of some high and mighty Deshyrs or whatever, they know they love him and that means they wouldn’t do anything to hurt him. So instead, when the group has to split up, Zara leaves with Hawke and Fenris, heading their own way at one point and only leaving Mira with a letter.
“It’s for Varric, you’ll know when to give it to him. You’re always good at knowing when people need things.”
It’s the last thing they say to her before leaving.
***
Varric says nothing about Zara when the Seeker comes to interrogate him, a silent promise he had made, that he wouldn’t let them become some side piece in one of his stories. They deserved more than he could give them, in fiction or in reality. When she tells him that he is to come with her to tell his story to the Divine, he curses every higher power he can think of because Maker dammit what if anyone came back to Kirkwall while he was gone. In the end there is nothing to be done about it, he is dragged from his home and to Fereldan, and even that goes tits up.
It’s just a few weeks before the Conclave that a letter arrive s for him, Leliana delivers it to him personally and even assures him it hasn’t been tampered with. It’s a little odd, but he’s grateful, especially when he opens it and reads the contents. Maker’s balls, he is the biggest fool this side of the Waking Sea and there’s nothing he can do about it now.
***
Hawke’s letter to them is only three sentences.
‘Z, I know you’re in Fereldan and I think you should make your way to Haven. They could use the help and I know you’re eager to fight something as always. Besides, he needs you.’
The warrior can be dense at times but they know exactly who Hawke is talking about and even as they burn the piece of parchment, they are packing up the small camp they’d set up. All these long months and Zara would still move heaven and earth for that damn dwarf, even if they could never have him the way they wanted. They’re moving before night falls, skirting groups of rogue mages and templars, cutting down anyone in their way. The half elf joins a small group of pilgrims, the group has one warrior and a rather young mage, offering to help protect them as they make the trek to the Inquisition’s camp. It takes a little over a week to make it to the small town of Haven, but it's worth it. The pilgrims split off, speaking with one of the revered mothers in front of the gates before being led inside. Zara recognised Cullen almost immediately, he was speaking with a woman, who the warrior imagined could only be the Seeker they’d all heard about. There was another human speaking with them, and as they get closer they can hear people calling them the Herald, which means this is the individual who survived the explosion at the Conclave.
“Looks like luck is still on my side,” they grin, walking right up to the small group, “You’re the ones I should talk to about joining up properly, yeah?”
Cassandra gives them a scrutinizing look, but it’s Cullen who speaks up.
“Zara? Maker’s mercy, I was just saying we could use more warriors to send out with the Herald.” He chuckled, “I’d say you’re a blessing, but I imagine you don’t care much for such a sappy reunion.”
“Well, you just tell me where to go and what to hit. I can handle it from there.”
***
When Bia asks him if there are characters in the Tale of the Champion he didn’t talk about he raises an eyebrow, “I think Cassandra is rubbing off on you Spitfire, everyone that needed talking about is in the book.”
“Well, I met someone who I think should have been in your book.” the mage shoots back, “Came in yesterday morning and signed up, they’ll be working with us closely. Even Cass admitted it would be nice to have another warrior on our little team. Nothing against Bull or Blackwall of course.”
He doesn’t get the chance to reply, too surprised to come up with something quick enough and by the time he looks up Bia is already walking away to finish their rounds. The way the Herald had said that made him think that maybe he was the luckiest dwarf in Thedas. Or the least lucky. The jury was still out on that one.
***
It takes Zara only a few hours to make their way to Varric, they’ve been acquainting themself with everyone they’ll be fighting with and had been putting off seeing him until the end. They had a lot to talk about and the half elf wouldn’t be eager to leave his company once they found it. He’s settled by a small fire, writing so fiercely one might think the parchment had done him wrong.
“I see some things don’t change.” they say, sitting not quite next to him but not too far away, “You still write like there’s a fire under your ass.”
***
He completely ruins the last sentence as he hears their voice, quill shooting across the paper as he looks up. He’ll have to rewrite it later but that’s the least of his worries honestly.
“Starlight, still trying to make my poor heart give out, I see.”
The warrior lets out a sharp, throaty laugh and he swears in the back of his mind, because dammit, even if he had tried to convince himself that soulmates didn’t matter he hates the idea of anyone else getting to have them.
“Yes, well, it’s hard not to when you’re always so focused.” Zara muses, “I suppose it doesn’t help that you always put too much pressure on yourself, makes it easier to catch you off guard.”
***
They never talk about the years apart, not at first, not until after Haven falls and they are trekking through the mountains towards some long forgotten fortress. Everyone is having to share tents right now to ensure there is space for every person to have a relatively warm place to sleep. Varric is attempting to write although his concentration is lacking, partially due to the fact that he can see Zara across the tent, rewrapping their bandages which has left them half naked and also reminded him that some of those were because they had protected him. They swear under their breath as they fumble with the cloth and ointment, the dwarf finally getting up and making his way over to grab said items from them.
“You know you could stop being so damn stubborn and ask for help.” He grumbles, carefully working ointment over the wounds that are still uncovered, “You’re not traveling on your own anymore.”
They snort, “You know that sounds an awful lot like something I said to you before. About not being alone and letting people help.”
He sighs, continuing to work on wrapping the bandages, “You’re never going to let me live it down are you?”
They lapse into silence, not uncomfortable, but with words unspoken for too long hanging in the air. He finishes wrapping their injuries and turns to head back to his own side of the tent, but stops when he feels their hand reach for his own.
“I know I said I wouldn’t be upset… but it’s hard not to when I care about you, even when you’re being bullheaded and think you owe something to people who don’t give a shit about you.”
He let out a breath he didn’t realize he was holding, Andraste’s ass he was a terrible soulmate and friend. Asking them to act like they don’t want to be with him so he can uphold a reputation he doesn’t actually care about, for a family that never did him any favors. So, for the first time since he had met Zara, since he had known they were his, he turned around to face them instead of running away. Wild red hair frames their face, cobalt blue eyes half lidded from exhaustion, but they meet his eyes when he looks at them. Varric reaches one hand out, cradling their cheek in his hand and wonders why the hell he’d been trying to convince himself he didn’t want this. Or that he didn’t deserve this. Zara doesn’t give him the chance to think about it too hard as they lean in across the small space and press their lips to his, pulling him down onto their fur pile.
The confused look on everyone’s face at his very sudden turn around in mood is funny, especially when they had all been trying to convince him things weren’t so bad. Varric lets them think that their arguments have swayed him, because some things are best kept out of the spotlight. Besides, if he did tell anyone Zara would kick his ass apart and he had it on good authority the warrior rather liked all his pieces attached to one another.

CHAPTER MASTERLIST
Chapter Twenty-Eight:
There are really some thoughts that I don't want to be thinking.
And of course I spend all night thinking those thoughts specifically.
I think of Thomus and his hands, how tight they held me to him. I'm not sure what he was trying to do, telling me something like that. It certainly couldn't have been to make me feel… good.? Sure, trying to get me all hot and bothered is one thing, but complimenting something that he knows I'm insecure about? That's not very Death Eater-like. For the life of me I can’t come up with a motivation for him.
But honestly? Who gives a shit about his motivation? As much as I hate myself for it, I enjoyed it. What’s so wrong with taking a miniscule of enjoyment where I can find it?
The only reason I get up the next morning is so I don't unintentionally incur the wrath of Remmy again. It's morning so Thomus's bandages need to be changed.
I give one knock on his bedroom door, but when I get no response, I push in anyway. He's sprawled on his stomach diagonal across the bed, as if he'd just crawled in and collapsed there. His good foot is hanging off the bed, but somehow he still has his bad one elevated on the pillows. I spy the fresh bandage on his nightstand and walk around his bed to it.
When I turn to him, contemplating how to go about this, my eyes zero in on his butt. The way the sun is shining through the window… The girl from Cliveden was right. He does have a great ass.
Then my eyes trail up his back. He has his head cradled on his arms, making the muscles underneath his skin seem quite pronounced. I can't believe someone who looks like that held me in his arms. A part of me feels like I don’t deserve it.
After I've disgusted myself from how long I've stood there ogling him, I buck up the courage to just grab the top of his foot and gently lift it so I can begin unwrapping the soiled bandage from his ankle. He only moves once during the exchange. His head pops up and then sleepily lowers itself back to its original position.
~*~
The broth seems to be a kind of mix between actual food and a potion. Remmy had left me a small basket with anything I don't already have. So following the recipe, I set to work.
Roast the carcass of a Cornish hen with carrots, onion, and some kind of root I don't recognize. Boil the Dragon's liver separately, adding Fluxweed and a Lionfish spine. Add two pinches of salt to everything. Then once the actual people food is done roasting, add that to the Dragon's liver to simmer.
By the time I've spooned the broth into a large mug, it's been about two hours. Thomus is awake and does not look happy to see me when I enter his room with the steaming liquid. He's propped against his pillows again, his finger acting as a bookmark.
"I told you, I'm not hungry," he gripes.
"Yeah, well, tough shit," I reply, setting it down on his nightstand. "I made it for you anyway."
He glares at me. "I'm going to be sick if I drink it."
"Then don't." I dip into the bathroom to grab the trash can in there and place it by his bed with a faux grandiose bow and hand gesture. "My lord." A smile tugs at my lips as I straighten.
He frowns, rubbing the space between his eyes beneath his glasses. "Very funny."
"I'm only here to serve," I say deadpan. I turn to leave, ready to do fuck all for my day yet again for the millionth day in a row.
"Are you busy today?" he asks and I stop, turning back to give him an incredulous look.
"Sorry, yeah, my schedule's booked," I say.
"Terrific," he says without missing a beat. He holds out his paperback book. Hesitantly, I take it and read the cover.
"The Seven and a Quarter Deaths of Professor Alice," I read aloud.
"Have you read it before?"
"Can't say that I have." He's asking me about books now?
He flicks his wrist to conjure his wand and with a wave, he's summoned a familiar high backed reading chair. I recognize it as the one from his bedroom at Malfoy Manor. It's so large that it takes up the entirety of the space between the wall and the bed, essentially blocking me in, even when angled towards him.
"Sit," he orders. My expression is a mix of confusion and wariness as I look from him to the chair. He seems serious. So, slowly, I turn and lower myself onto the chair, straight backed and uncomfortable. When I'm settled, he waves his wand again and the matching ottoman appears.
Sensing my impending questions, he says, "I have a headache and I'm bored. Read to me."
My eyebrows shoot up. "Read to you?"
"That's what I said, isn't it?"
"Yeah, I heard you, but -"
"But what? You're my servant. I've given you orders, now"  - he gestures aimlessly with his hand - "read." He takes off his glasses and nestles further into his pillows, eyes closed.
"Only if you drink your broth."
His eyes snap open, narrowing at me. "Are you blackmailing me?"
I shrug. "It’s more of a bargain than blackmail.”
He scowls, his gaze jumping from me to the book to the mug next to him.
"Personally, I don't care if you drink it or not," I say, a hand to my chest. "You are the enemy after all, so if you want to remain weak and vulnerable, that's fine by me."
"Piss off," he huffs, rolling his eyes. He sits up straighter, using his arms to slide his butt back further. I try to ignore the way the muscles in his arms bulge as he does so. Finally, he takes the mug in his hands.
I give him a smug smile and settle back further into his massive reading chair, enjoying how comfy it is. My fingers flip through the pages of the book until I find the page he'd dog-eared. I clear my throat and get ready to read, but before I do, my eyes pointedly jump from the mug in his hands to him. He gets the hint and sighs, bringing the brim to his lips and sipping. I suppress a snicker when I see his face twist in disgust.
"What's in this?" he asks.
"You don’t wanna know," I reply, and clear my throat before reading aloud. "Chapter Three: Death number three for Professor Alice couldn’t have served her better than it did the night of the Yule Ball –“
“Stop,” Thomus says, shaking his head and scowling at his bed covers.
“What I do wrong?”
“Nothing,” he says with a sigh. “I just thought I’d find it just as enjoyable for a second read as I did the first.”
I snap the book shut. “So what do you want me to do now? Is this just because you don’t want to drink your broth?”
He gives me a petulant frown. “No, but could you blame me if it was?”
I stand, tossing the unwanted book over him onto his bed as I turn towards the door. “Well, since you don’t want me to read –“
“Do you have any recommendations?” he asks and I turn back around, my expression skeptical. His eyebrow’s quirked as he looks at me.
An apprehensive, dismissive laugh slips out of my mouth. “I highly doubt we like to read the same things.”
An amused smirk joins his quirked eyebrow. “Enlighten me.”
I laugh again and shake my head. “No, thanks.”
“Are you disobeying an order?”
“So what if I am?” I say, crossing my arms and shifting my weight onto one hip. “What’re you going to do about it? You got a bum leg.”
“Does every conversation with you have to turn into a fight?” he asks. “I asked you a simple question about what you like to read. It’s not as if I asked you to –“ he stops. “Never mind.”
I stare out of his window into the garden, trying to decide what my answer will be. Trying to figure out how to make my answer any less embarrassing.
He doesn’t wait for me. “I’ve seen you reading those muggle books. Something about Pride and –“
“Prejudice.”
“Right, and the other had that man with the bubble head charm on him.”
That gets me to look back at him, my jaw dropped in disbelief. “You mean an astronaut helmet?”
“A what?”
“Astronaut. It’s a person who goes into space.”
“Oh,” he says. “I don’t believe I ever knew the correct term. The muggles have sent themselves to the moon, yeah?” He absentmindedly takes a sip of his broth, and judging by his face, immediately regrets it. I sigh and sit back down on his chair.
“That book’s about an astronaut who gets stuck on Mars.”
“Is it based on a true story?”
“No, it’s science-fiction,” I say. “I was… trying to broaden my horizons.”
“So… you didn’t like it.”
“I never said that.”
His head tilts. “Do I really have to pry every little bit of information out of you?”
“Well,” I say, leaning back in his chair again, arms still crossed. I put my bare feet up on the ottoman to stretch my legs out. “I remember you needing to be drunk for you to answer something as simple as why you live here and not your family estate.”
“There wasn’t a simple answer,” he replies. “Just like your reason for being… involved isn’t as simple as you made it seem.”
“Again, you are the enemy. I wouldn’t have gotten this far if I went around blabbing my secrets to just anyone.”
He sets the mug down on the nightstand and mirrors my posture, scrutinizing me. “People have a habit of underestimating you.”
I smirk. “A lesson you had to learn the hard way.”
He snorts dryly. “So, tell me. What does an unassuming girl like you like to read?”
I shift in the chair, bringing my legs in to sit crisscrossed. When I speak, my words are slow, pulled out of my mouth one by one. “I like to read… romance.”
His eyebrows shoot up. “What’s so terrible about that?”
“Well,” I pause, searching for the right words. “Usually it’s a genre people look down on. Guys in particular.”
“I just was afraid you were about to tell me you like to read straight up hardcore porn.”
I blink a few times before turning my gaze away, a blush rising to my cheeks that I’m sure is turning my face beet red. “Depends on the spice level of said romance book.”
“Spice being?”
My eyes go back to his face, trying to measure how much he’s going to judge me for the truth. His expression has polite interest. “How… kinky things get,” I reply. “How… intense. But in my defense, it’s not all about the sex. It’s… everything that goes along with it, too. The pining, the angst, the humor.” I take a deep breath. “I can’t get enough of it.”
Surprisingly his face doesn’t change. He just moves on to his next question. “You said you were trying to broaden your horizons. Is romance the only thing you like?”
“Kind of. I enjoy other stories, but I’d usually rather watch the movie. It’s the genre that I can escape into the most. If romance isn’t the main plot line then I can’t be bothered.”
“Can’t be bothered?” he chuckles.
I shrug. “What can I say? I’m just a slut for it.”
“Is that why you’ve never shagged anyone?”
My jaw drops. “What?”
He continues as if he hadn’t just asked why I’m still a virgin. “You’re looking for perfection? The kind that you find in those books?”
“Okay, looking at me, what makes you think I could even ask for perfection?” I ask. “Women in those books don’t look like me. And besides, I think the whole point of those kinds of books is that you’re not going to find perfection even if you go looking for it.”
Thomus’s eyes shift down to his lap after a moment, seemingly lost in thought. Which is good because I need a moment to tell my heart to stop thumping so loudly in my chest. There were a million ways that topic of conversation could have gone and I’m glad I came out of it relatively unscathed. Embarrassed, but unscathed.
When he doesn’t say anything, I pull his focus back to me by asking, “So what about you? Your favorite books? You never even told me what The Seven and a Quarter Deaths of Professor Alice was about.”
“It’s a mystery novel,” he responds without looking at me. “Typically, I go for mystery.”
“Makes sense. You were an investigative journalist after all.”
“Right,” he says. I wonder if he’s remembering the memory he saw where I’d unwittingly seen his name hundreds of times at The Daily Prophet. “Though I’m surprised you’re asking me at all, since you took the opportunity to snoop through my room. So I assume you’ve scoured the title of every book I own.”
“Actually, I didn’t,” I admit. “I definitely meant to, but I was too tired. Spent my evening reading all of your articles in The Daily Prophet.”
“Yes, I’m sure you found loads of useful information there,” he replies, dripping with sarcasm.
“Nothing to write home about,” I shrug. “It was really smart though. I’ll give you that. Planting yourself there. Being able to control public perception of a coup is vital to its success. Denying the Dark Lord’s return was very effective.”
“I didn’t plant myself there,” he says, annoyed like I’ve insulted him. “I wrote letters to the Editor while I was in school about a few topics like Quidditch and he printed them. By the time I’d finished my 7th year I’d been offered a job there.”
He pauses, and I find myself so eager for what he says next, that I don’t realize at first he’s just waiting to be prompted. As if he’s unsure that I’d even be interested to hear about him. But I find that I am, definitely, interested in what he has to say about himself. Finally, I’m starting to get background information on who he is.
“And you accepted?” I ask.
“Not at first. I wanted to travel a bit, get out of the country.”
When he said that, another memory jogs to the forefront of my mind. About that time he’d been held at trial for the torture of the Longbottoms. I look at him now and I struggle to wrap my mind around the idea that he was capable of torturing someone like that. If he’d been hanging around Bellatrix at such a young age, who knows how much she’d have been able to influence him. While I know Bill Weasley said his name had been kept out of the papers, I’m sure there were plenty of rumors going around, so it checks out that he’d want to escape that.
“So where did you go?” I ask. “I’ve only ever been here and home.”
“America first,” he says. “I had some… business to take care of. Then Australia, Japan, Northern Africa, a tour of Europe, and then back to America. I stayed with the Astors for the better part of a year.”
“Did you leave because of what happened to the Longbottoms?”
For the first time in a few minutes, he looks at me, apprehension marring his handsome face.
“What?” I say when he doesn’t respond.
“I…” he pauses, “forgot you knew about that.”
I shrug. “I only learned of your involvement back in April. I was barely a first year when all that happened. I’d been lucky to come across a Daily Prophet paper in school at the time.”
“Right.” He still seems uncomfortable. While I’m definitely more comfortable talking about him than specifically my love for romance books, he doesn’t seem to feel the same. Is this a part of his past that he’s not proud of?
“Were you visiting the Astor’s the first time to America?” I ask.
A look I’ve never seen on his face – sadness. “No.” His voice is quiet. “I was… visiting my mother.”
“Your mom lives in the US?” I ask, surprised.
“She moved there when I was very young.”
“Why?” I ask as delicately as possible.
He sighs heavily. “She was disowned from her family for wanting to marry beneath her.”
“You’re kidding,” I say. “We don’t live in the regency era anymore.”
“No one of the right kind wanted to marry her after the affair with my father that produced a bastard child,” he explains.
“The right kind?”
“A wizard. Any respectable wizard wouldn’t have her and so she was cast out.”
My heart aches for the poor woman. “That’s really sad actually.”
He looks confused at my words. “She disgraced her family, and left me behind in the process.”
“I’m sure that wasn’t an easy thing to do,” I say. “Was it an American Wizard?”
“No, he’s –“ he pauses, and then rushes the rest of the words out “ - a muggle.”
“Oh!” I say. “Interesting. There may be hope for you just yet.” He frowns at me. “It’s… what do you English people call it? Breeding?” I can’t help but smirk at my own joke, especially since it clearly bothers him.
“Will you just think of something to read?” he snaps.
“Well,” I say, jumping to my feet. “I’ll be right back.” I climb up and around the chair, using the corner of his bed to give myself leverage and bolt out of the room.
I return a few moments later with a book and a glass of water for myself. After scrambling back over the chair, placing my water on the nightstand, I settle back into place.
“I wonder if you’ll like this,” I say, holding out The Hobbit by Tolkien. He doesn’t grab the book, but studies the cover.
“What’s a hobbit?” he asks.
“Don’t worry, it’s explained. Though I will have to warn you, when they talk about dwarves and elves and wizards, they don’t mean the same to us as they do in the book. It’s entirely its own thing.”
“I see,” he says flatly. “It’s written by a muggle.”
“So? Those other books I was telling you about were written by them.”
He makes a face. “I just doubt the quality.”
I raise my eyebrows and resist the urge to roll my eyes. “They far out-number us. They’re always going to be producing more content then we do.”
He makes quotation marks with his fingers. “’We’ and ‘us’.”
Okay, now I do roll my eyes. “Yes, as in Magic-folk. I can do magic just as well as you and so there’s no difference.” He opens his mouth to speak, but I hold up my hand. “And I do not want to hear anything you have to say on that matter because you’re going to be wrong.”
“Anything?”
I use my finger to do a ring around my head. “Slave.” I shove my hand toward him and circle the air. “Owner.”
His jaw that had been hanging loose snaps right shut. I glare at him, daring him to object as I open the book to its beginning pages. Though my heart is beating a mile a minute by being this forward and argumentative about an obviously sensitive topic.
“Now, I’ve seen the movies, but I’ve never read the book and now seems as good a time as any,” I say and give him a pointed look. “Since I’m reading, are you going to finish your broth?”
He glares at me. “I don’t recall agreeing to this book.”
“Well, if you don’t like it after a few chapters I will never recommend you a book again. Agreed?”
He shrugs with one shoulder, picking up the mug again and bringing it to his mouth. “Works for me.”
“’Chapter One’,” I read. “’An Unexpected Party. In a hole the ground there lived a hobbit…’”
~*~
It delighted me to no end that I didn’t hear a peep of objection from Thomus as I read. The broth is working because I can see color returning to his face as he contentedly lies there listening. He’d finished it a while ago.
I was just about to finish chapter two when I hear familiar meows coming from the living room. My voice stops mid-sentence and I twist in the chair to see Sam walking into the room.
“Sam!” I gasp excitedly as he leaps up onto the back of the chair. He lets me pick him up and cradle him in my arms, stroking his fur. I don’t forget who we’re with so I make sure to mind what I say next. “It’s been so long since I’ve seen you! I thought something had happened!”
He meows in response, purring.
“I’m so glad that you’re okay,” I continue softly, nearly wanting to cry with relief.
“Sam?” comes Thomus’s voice.
When I look at him, his eyes are open again, watching me. I can’t decide if his expression is surprise or something else.
“Yeah,” I say, my tone obviously defensive. “So what?”
“Nothing,” he says without removing his gaze from me.
Sam wiggles free from my grasp and turns his attention to Thomus, hissing loudly at him. Neither Thomus nor I had been expecting that.
“Hey!” I admonish as Sam leaps to the floor on the other side of the chair. He meows loudly and repeatedly, twirling around the door. He wants to talk to me. I make sure I won’t lose my place in the book and stand. “I better go see what he wants.”
“You will do no such thing,” Thomus snaps. “Leave the beast be.”
“But –“
“You are to stay here and continue reading. I am sick and in need of your care.”
I snort. “You have a headache, I’ll only be a few minutes.”
“You will stay here and continue reading,” he says again. I turn my gaze back to where Sam is, but he’s not there.
“Oh, good, he’s gone already,” he says. “Sit.”
I grab my half-full glass of water and chug the rest of it. “I need more water,” I say quickly and climb back over the chair to go downstairs to talk to Sam.
But Sam isn’t anywhere to be found. I check the living room, kitchen, and garden, but he’s gone. My heart sinks in disappointment. I do, however, find a hastily scribbled note on the kitchen counter.
Couldn’t stay. Need to talk to you. Soon.

Warnings - Cursing, villain reader, some mention of violence, the words di3 & k1ll, bones, brief weapon descriptions (like swords n stuff), might be hinted that reader is shorter than Ushijima power bottom
Note: It might seem a little risque at times but I promise this is completely sfw lmao. Reader is kind of the eccentric crazy antagonist that everyone likes. (which is def self indulgent I've always wanted to be a queer coded villain). Also think of what people would call you as a villain cause that's gonna show up as (v/n) in the fic like once. Did I try and shove as much tension as I could in here? Yes. Yes I did. It's also like way longer than what I usually write (which is already a decent size), so be warned??
Fantasy AU time hehe

Strength.
The one thing Ushijima valued above most everything else. As a child he found it to be important, as a squire he found it important, and now, as a full grown man, he follows it as the building block for every decision he makes.
As a child he always admired those who were strong. His father, mainly.
Takashi Utsui, his father, was one of the most respected fighters to ever take residence on his side of the kingdom. As a boy, Ushijima always looked up to him. Sure, it crushed him when his parents split up, but he figured there wasn't much he could do about it.
Instead he decided to be just like his dad. Strong, confident, willing. He wanted to be a knight, just like him.
Wakatoshi supposes that his father is where he got his dislike of confidence without any skill to back it up. If someone doesn't have the power that they boast about, what would be the point in fighting them?
I digress.
Ushijima's background doesn't matter, not with where he is today.
Today, he held true to his desire, and he is now among the strongest knights currently walking. His strength, his prowess, is just as he wished it to be all those years ago.
So how is it that he ended up on his knees?
🂠🃑🃁🂱🂡
"Oh Ushiwaka!" Oikawa burst into the tavern, his cheeks flushed with excitement from their previous mission. Tendou and Iwaizumi trailed in after him. Ushijima looked up from where he was sitting, and raised an eyebrow in the direction of the other knights.
"What took you so long," he said, sitting back and crossing his arms across his armoured chest.
Iwaizumi rolled his eyes. "Shittykawa and Tendou got caught up with a troll."
"That's over exaggerating! We were just...erm..." Oikawa trailed off, and Tendou picked up the end of his sentence.
"Making sure they didn't steal from our camp!" He quickly said, placing his hands on Oikawas shoulders and flashing a nervous, close eyed smile at Ushijima.
Iwaizumi just sighed heavily and went over to the bar. Tendou chuckled and sat down next to Ushijima. Any drunkard in this tavern could tell who these four were, unless they were so shit faced that they couldn't use any of their senses.
The four most powerful knights in the kindgom. Well, technically only Ushijima and Iwaizumi were knights. Tendou was a mage, and Oikawa had a collection of different talents.
In any case, they were the most recognized. The four had taken down multiple menaces. Dragons, undead, orcs, the whole kit. Undoubtedly though, Ushijima was the strongest of the four. His brute force and confidence in his own ability made him a dangerous foe to be reckoned with.
"Hey Wakatoshi-kun," Tendou turned to regard Ushijima with a mischievous glint in his red eyes. "Have you heard?"
Ushijima tilted his head. "Heard of what?" He shifted in his seat.
"That necromancer that's screwing around in the east has been terrorizing towns with his newest monster," Oikawa slips into a chair to the left of Ushijima, an angry looking Iwaizumi trailing behind him.
"I've heard he's a real villain," Tendou said with a laugh, resting his feet on the table and twirling his staff around.
"He is, don't make fun of that guy," Iwaizumi shudders and ducks to avoid the end of Tendou's staff.
"Just one man?" Wakatoshi raises his eyebrow.
The other three nod in unison.
Ushijima grunts and looks over at his sword. The wispy lavender hilt was so familiar to him. The dark purple leather where he's gripped so many times has been worn down. The nicks in the blade make it obvious that it's been well used, though it still shines dangerously in the taverns light.
He looks up at his party once more. "Where does he reside?" Wakatoshi asks, a new glint in his olive eyes.
"You're not seriously suggesting we go fight him right?" Oikawa looks at him with disbelief. "We just finished a long mission! I'll literally die," he dramatically drapes a hand over his face.
Ushijima stops for a moment before he says another word. "No. I can do it alone."
Tendou shrugs. "I'm sure it's just extra practice for our Miracle Boy," he laughs again and puts his staff on the ground, his feet still on the small wooden table.
"Precisely," he nods with the ghost of a smile on his lips.
"Ever confident," Oikawa mutters, bringing his tankard up to his lips.
Ushijima ignores the obviously disdainful comment, and leans in to give Iwaizumi an expectant look.
"Jeez alright," Hajime huffs, "Just bring me back one of those weird bones he has everywhere."
🂠🃑🃁🂱🂡
What a fitting atmosphere.
The sky was dark with heavy clouds that were no doubt going to bring some kind of storm. The bones littered around the large, dark looking castle didn't make the place any more inviting. Twisting sharp towers and dark bricks seemed to swallow any of the light that was present by the sky, now clouded and grey.
Ushijima kicked a bone out of his way as he advanced towards the intricately designed dark wooden doors of the castle wall. The castle had a fitting theme for someone as infamously spoken about as you were, (even if Wakatoshi hadn't kept up with the talk of citizens).
As he advanced closer, he noticed that the doors were rotting, covered in vines. All he had to do was push it open gently, like if he pushed any harder it would decompose. Actually, looking around at all of the dead vines and animal bones, he supposed that wasn't an awful assumption.
If he didn't know any better, he would say that the whole place was deserted. He cast his eyes to the rotted gallows on his right the sound of his steel boots on gravel the only definitive noise. His short walk to the main door of the castle was more foreboding than he thought it would be.
Ushijima fought the urge to shudder when he finally got to the castle doors. They were just as intricately designed as the other ones, though these were in a much better shape.
He pushed them open as silently as possible, walking in as calmly as he could muster. It's like as the doors closed, the well lit torches that lined the walls were the only source of light. The only sounds being the fire and the distant sound of wind from the outside.
In training, he had a series of trials where he had to make his way through seemingly empty stairwells. He didn't know what could jump him, when it would happen, and the correct time he should let his guard down. Ushijima found out the hard way that that time was never.
He unsheathed his sword and held it poised, crouching against the back wall and making his way through what seemed to be a dining room. Contrary to most castles, this place seemed to not have a throne in front of the table. After he's determined that the place is empty, he puts his sword back and observes his surroundings.
The place settings were all strangely set, skulls placed in the centers of the plates neatly.
Ushijima stands up straight and picks up one of the skulls.
He ran his clothed thumb over the skull, frowning. What kind of monster has enough human skulls laying around to fill twenty-four table spaces?
"Has anyone told you not to touch what's not yours?"
The pain was sharp in the side of his head. He didn't even get to see your face as the plank of wood clattered to the floor alongside him, his muscular form crumpling to the ground. "Tsk," he faintly hears you say as his eyes close slowly.
His instructors would surely reprimand him for this if they were here.
🂠🃑🃁🂱🂡
CRACK!
"Would you just wake up already!"
Ushijima's eyes flew open. His body instinctively jolted back as your hand collided with his cheek. Or, it tried to.
He shook his head quickly to get his wits about him, then took him his current situation. He pushed the embarrassment of being taken by surprise so easily down his throat. The first thing he noticed was how light he felt. Upon looking around, he noticed that he was stripped of his armour, leaving him in his slacks and tunic. He tried to move his arms on instinct, though he found that he couldn't.
He narrowed his eyes and tugged at his arms again. Both were bound behind his back, a firm and heavy twine rope looped around his arms and his chest. He was seated on his knees. That same twine was around each of his thighs, keeping them respectively connected to his lower legs.
"Oh thank god," he heard you laugh, prompting his head to shoot up.
In the time he took to take in his position, you were seated back on the twisted and rotting throne in front of him. "I thought I hit you a bit too hard."
Ushijima hardened his gaze to a glare.
You, upon noticing his distasteful look, chuckled. "It's not my fault you were so easy to get the jump on for such a strong knight," you shifted in your throne so that your legs were hanging over one of the arms, your back against the other one. "You know, all of that muscle and armour wasn't fun to drag around." You turned your head over your shoulder to give him a cocky smirk. "Didn't even have to use my magick to get you, and I've heard so much about you and your strength."
"(V/n)," Ushijima said on impulse.
You looked taken aback for a moment, before realization washed over you, "Ooh, yeah just call me (y/n). I forgot people made that little nickname for me." You swung your legs around, using the momentum to sit correctly in your chair. "Or you could call me Your Majesty, My King, master, I'm not really opposed to anything." You grinned at him.
Ushijima scoffed and turned his head to the side. "You are not in a position of power. I am not obligated to respect you."
His defiance made you frown.
The sudden sound of you standing up made him fight the urge to look at you, so instead he opted to look down and close his eyes to regain some composure.
You knelt on one knee in between his parted thighs, bringing your hand up under his chin to lift his head. His olive eyes met your amused yet deranged (e/c) ones, your grip on his chin surprisingly firm.
"Inside these walls," you whispered, "You are at my mercy. It would do you well to respect me." Your voice was quiet, though the dead silence surrounding you two made it seem all too loud to Ushijima. His breath hitched in the base of his throat.
You let go of his chin, standing up and stretching.
Ushijima waited until his breathing was back to normal before he said anything else.
"You realize that good natured people outnumber you, do you not?" He said, gathering the courage to look up at you.
You laughed. You had your back turned to him, your attention focused on one of the eight inanimate suits of armour lining the walls in the throne room.
"The thing is, Ushijima-san," you opened the helmet to reveal a skeleton. "There is a clear difference between my type of people and your type of people." You turned around with a skull in hand. "'Heroes' have to win again and again to keep their stead." You scoffed, a little laugh leaving you. "And 'villains' only have to win once." You brushed a bit of dust off of the skull and placed it back into the suit of armour, shutting the helmet.
"But enough with my lamenting, why exactly are you in my humble abode?" You give him a toothy grin, though it felt more like an animal baring its fangs at you, before sitting back down on your throne.
He narrowed his eyes, (again). "Job," he said gruffly.
You furrowed your brows in confusion, shifting to cross your legs. "Job? I thought I got rid of everyone who had a bounty on me..." You muttered the last part, though it wasn't hard for Ushijima to make out your words.
Ushijima grunts. "Personal job."
You stare at him in whats seems to be disbelief for a second before bursting out in laughter. Your laugh was manic, raspy. Ushijima tilts his head.
"You thought-," you giggle in between words, "That you could just go on some pointless tour to get rid of me?" You chuckle, wiping a mock tear from your eye. "That is just too good."
Wakatoshi ignores your outright mock of his motivation, deciding instead to ask a rather important question. "Are you going to kill me?" He said it calmly, no trace of fear. "What use to you have with me alive?"
You shrug. "Aside from your good structure and strong bones, I don't really have a use for you dead." You sit straight up to look him in the eye. "In fact, you'd be far more useful to me alive." That smile returned.
Ushijima scoffed. "Then if you will not let me leave, what do you have in mind?"
Another shrug made its way to the surface as you stood up. "I never said I wouldn't let you leave," you smile at him again. "I just have a few conditions."
"And what might those be," he wasted no time asking.
You paced in front of him for a minute before stopping and stooping down to get your face on his level. "Beg for me, yeah?"
His eyes went wide.
Wakatoshi dropped his head to look at the floor, unconsciously attempting to shift his legs closed. Fury overtook his features. Just who did you think you were? Ushijima hates baseless confidence, and so far you haven't shown anything to him that would make you above his level. It's starting to get infuriating.
"What?" He finally mustered out.
That laugh met his ears again, ringing around the room like a poisonous lullaby. "You heard me, brave knight," your voice was laced with a mocking tone. Your steel toed boots came into his sight as you stopped right in front of him.
Your hand made its way to the back of his head, your fingers weaving into his soft olive hair. He sucks in a breath, and maintains the confidence to not pull his head away.
"You heard me," you repeat, "I said beg."
You pulled his head back harshly, forcing him to look up at you.
The torchlight illuminating your sickeningly handsome featured cast a dangerous shadow on your face.
A dry smile makes its way onto his face. "Sorry, I don't think I swing that way," He deadpanned. That was a blatant lie, though it seemed to get a reaction out of you.
Your ears went pink, and you gave him a smile that looked like you were refraining from ripping his throat out. "Ha ha," you say dryly, "Very funny. Didn't know you could joke." You snarled at him, pushing his head down into the ground.
He huffed as his cheek made contact with the floor. You were kneeling in front of him, a hand on his head that kept his face to the floor.
"Fitting position for you," you sneered.
Ushijima growled lowly. He tried shifting his legs again, the restraints pressed flush against the muscle on his thighs.
"I'm waiting," you say. "I could do this all day, big guy."
"What do you- what do you even want me to beg for?" He dropped the pitch of his voice habitually.
You blew out a sigh, animatedly demonstrating that you were getting bored. "Isn't it obvious? Beg for me to let you go, and I might consider it."
He could practically feel the smile adorning your lips.
His bottom lip quivered, only slightly. Was that what it would take? He felt like a fool for even considering it. For even thinking that he should give in and grovel. Hell, in any other situation, he'd simply suggest you feed him to the latest undead monster you've been brewing up.
Something about the power you had over him made him want to beg. The thought of that alone made him frown deeply. He'd never come across someone stronger than him, truth be told, he'd never come across anyone who is above him in terms brute force, and you most definitely weren't, but yet and still, your heavy presence fell on his back.
The silence was deafening as he considered his options.
"P...Please," he finally says softly.
"What was that? I couldn't hear you big guy!" You cackled, your grip on his hair tightening.
"Please," he says again, a little louder this time.
"Please what?" You let go of his head.
You move back, still kneeling. Ushijima sits up straight, relieved that the tension the ropes put on his thighs was less noticeable.
"Please...let me go..."
"And why would I do that?" You stood, standing over him and gripping his jaw.
"I'm of no use to you..." He gritted his teeth, shoulders shaking. This was no doubt embarrassing, and you were loving every second of it. Ushijima can't believe he let some boy force him to his knees, make him beg.
You chuckled again, letting go of his jaw and circling behind him. "Well I would say that you could have begged nicer, which you could've, by the way, but I'm not cruel. See you sometime!"
"W-what?" Ushijima hardly got the word out before an exploding pain blossomed through his head, the sound of wood hitting the ground giving him a sense of deja vu. His eyes fell closed once again, the sound of your giggle bouncing around in his mind as he fell unconscious.
🂠🃑🃁🂱🂡
"...jima...ushijima...USHIJIMA-SAN!"
Wakatoshi jolted awake at the sound of Iwaizumi's voice.
He looked around, puzzled. His armour was back on, sword and shield sat by his side, and he was on his back outside of camp. "What...Happened?" He sat up.
Instantly he clutched his head, the residue of pain confirming that whatever just happened was real.
Or, maybe he just hit himself on the head in a fight or something. The memories he had of your interaction, (clear as day), couldn't be real right?
"What's with the hand print on your cheek Ushiwaka? Someone slap our big strong leader?" Oikawa sneered.
Ushijima's hand instantly shot up to his cheek, feeling a faint sting. So, turns out, that was real.
"Wakatoshi-kun, you good?" Tendou chuckled. "How did your battle with the necromancer go?"
Ushijima lit up like a torch, the memory of you forcing his head to to the ground flooding his brain once more.
"I'll...I'll tell you later." He stood up, shaking off any sleep still in his limbs. Your face was etched into his memory, the feeling of your hand on his jaw and in his hair not quite leaving. He shuddered.
Yeah, he'll tell the party, but first he has to figure out just what your intentions were.
He'll be seeing you again alright.

Okay, so you've magically gotten the resources, time, and skilled developers you need to create your dream game, what would it be? It can be any genre (fighting, platforming, open world), starring your own original ocs you've had for a while or completely new ones made just for the game. Or a game adaptation of a movie, show, or novel, or even a sequel or spinoff of a video game franchise. Or you could just tell us about both options if you want.
I think someone has asked me this question before, but I'll answer again, since it's been a while if so. If I had the chance to make any video game in the world, it would be one of two things. Both of which are adaptations of earlier works, and both are SLIGHTLY on the obscure side. Only slightly though. LOL
Tumblr media
First up is The Shadow. The Shadow is a character who started off as the narrator for a crime/mystery program. The character became so popular, he was turned into the protagonist of his own pulp magazine series, and then a new radio show all about his adventures. Since then, he has mostly survived in comics, and has passed through various publishers over the decades - both DC and Marvel owned him at different points, and he is currently the property of Dynamite Entertainment. The character is most well-known today for being "the father of modern superheroes," as he inspired characters like Batman, Daredevil, the Punisher, V from V for Vendetta, Rorschach from The Watchmen, and - to a lesser extent, mind you - Superman. He also spawned a series of other pulp-y characters with similar concepts, such as the Green Hornet and the Spider. He's even been parodied in cartoons: Darkwing Duck is actually based largely on The Shadow, with a bit of Batman thrown in. For you all, you'll probably recognize him best because his universe was the inspiration for my "Black Dragon AU," with Malleus Draconia as the Shiwan Khan to the MC's Shadow-esque hero. I've always loved the Shadow, and I've always wanted to see him in one of two types of games. One is a Telltale-style choose-your-own-adventure murder mystery game, similar to "The Wolf Among Us" or the "Batman: The Telltale Series" titles. The other is a stealth-action game similar with controls similar to the Arkham series or the PS4-started Spider-Man games. The big draw in either case would be the style: everything done in black and white, with a noir-esque sort of aesthetic and matching music, with splashes of color - like red and maybe occasional hints of gold or green - to emphasize characters and moments. I'd pick Maurice LaMarche or Roger L. Jackson to voice the character, personally; not sure who I'd choose if you wanted someone more celebrity-like.
Tumblr media
The other option would be a game based on Frank Beddor's "The Looking-Glass Wars" trilogy. This is a series of novels (with some spin-off comics) that are reimaginings of the "Alice" stories. The premise sees Wonderland as a war-torn universe, with elements of dark fantasy and sci-fi sort of blended together to create its world and aesthetic. The overarching plot of the series has Princess Alyss Heart and her allies - including Hatter Madigan, Bibwith Harte, and Dodge Anders, just to name a few - battling the sinister forces of Alyss' evil Aunt Redd, and a mutual enemy of both of their sides, the treacherous King Arch. I would specifically like to see a game based on this universe done in either a "League of Legends" format, or, even better, a "Star Wars: Battlefront" format. In the former, you can play as different major characters from the books, with different types of enemies to conquer depending on where in the conflict you stand. Or, in the latter, you can actually play as soldiers from each of the warring factions, as well as Hero figures from each end of the spectrum, with perhaps some minigames that allow you to play with those different elements more. Admittedly, both of these TECHNICALLY have games already: the Shadow was originally planned to have a beat-em-up game in the 90s, but the game was canceled. However, you apparently CAN find the unfinished game if you look hard enough to play; not sure if it's an emulator or something, but it's out there, trust me. LGW, meanwhile, has (or had, not sure if it's still up) an online card game you could play themed around the books. However, neither of these are really what I would like to see from either franchise (and the Shadow game wasn't even really properly released or completed), so there's still room for these dream games to exist. They likely never will, but there's room. :P

Chapter title: you should see me in a crown
You should see me in a crown Your silence is my favorite sound Watch me make 'em bow One by, one by one
Here's: Marinette and Kagami didn't expect the transformation to be so outrageously obvious.
Of course, Diana had warned the teenagers that it could happen, but- again, they didn't think it would be so drastic. The growing pains had been, well, a pain. A brutal one.
If Marinette was being bitter, she would blame Tikki for this happening to her and her miraculous partners, but she knew for a fact that it was not the fault of the kwamis for this lack of information.
It was the first time since the world was created, that the miraculous were given to literal children. So, for that reason the side effects were something unknown. But they believed that they had already discovered all the effects after five years wielding the jewelry.
Diana was able to destroy any idea they had about it, since none of them noticed the biggest and most obvious side effect of the miraculous:
They were trapped in underdeveloped bodies for seventeen/eighteen-year-olds teenagers. And that wasn't just because their genetics made them look more youthful, no. The active use of Ladybug’s cure was slowing the aging journey of the other heroes, as they were the hardest hit by healing magic.
So, when Diana - Wonder Woman - invited the miraculous female team to Themyscira to correct this problem with the Amazons, Marinette, Kagami, Chloe and Alix did not hesitate to accept.
The men's team had already been invited by Arthur Curry - Aquaman - because men were not allowed on Themyscira, but also because training with Arthur would be more ideal for them than that of the Amazons.
Zatanna encouraging and assuring the heroes that she would maintain a blocking spell throughout Paris to prevent Hawkmoth from acting.
They left their homes with an excuse to travel the world. Adrien was a little more difficult to get out of Gabriel's claws, but in the end, with Bruce Wayne's call, Adrien was able to leave Paris alone with friends. They were ready.
That's when Marinette suffered.
Starting with all the miraculous having to be resigned in order for the effect of magic to expunge faster, the box being kept safe in Themyscira. And then with the infernal training that the Amazons put them through.
Before, Marinette and Kagami prided themselves on being the most agile and sharp in the fights against akumas, but being in Themyscira showed that they did not even reach the feet of the youngest warriors in the island.
So, it was already clear that if Kagami and Marinette were having problems, Chloe and Alix felt death touching their souls with affection.
(The boys also suffered in those months in Atlantis. Arthur was not at all merciful in teaching them.)
Anyway, when the two and a half month mark reached, the physical changes were simply too glaring to go through a simple growth spurt.
Marinette never envied Chloe and Alix so much for not being predisposed to be tall naturally.
Of all four, Marinette grew the most in height without the influence of the miraculous. She may or may not have cried when she reached 5'11” with Kagami and Hippolyta said she would still grow a few inches.
She didn't care much for stretch marks on her joints, but she complained about the growing pains. Kagami was not very vocal, but the grimaces of pain she let out did not let anyone be fooled.
But even with the pain, the teachings and the struggles, Marinette was happy that they were finally having the right mentoring to guide them. Fu had left very early, much of his knowledge was not passed on.
○○○
After almost struggling to free Marinette from Chloe, they left the blonde sleeping on the brunette's bed while she showered.
Alix ate a croissant, Damian and Luka talked about strategies against Hawkmoth and Plume.
"I already talked to Zatanna and she will release the blocking barrier in three days, just so Hawkmoth doesn't suspect anything." Damian looked at Alix, attracting the young woman's attention. "It would be very suspicious if the barrier was broken just on the same day that Dupont's classes returned."
Alix nodded in agreement. "Did she say anything about tracking the miraculous?"
Luka sighed despondently. "No. She will probably only make it when they are active, meaning- “
"We will have to wait for Plume and Hawkmoth to attack again to get any leads."
Marinette came into the room, fully dressed - a black skater dress with the pattern of delicate cherry blossoms, reaching a few inches above the knee, v-neck and short sleeves; white liner socks - and dry hair stuck in a messy bun, leaving the bangs framing the pretty face.
Luka and Damian swallowed at the glorious sight. She managed to be strong and cute at the same time. And it destroyed them so good.
"He should attack as soon as he feels the barrier is gone." Alix replied and it took both of them out of inappropriate thoughts. Marinette's knowing look showed that she knew exactly where the boyfriends' minds ran.
"And that is why we will be making a war council in half an hour." She reached for the pair of white sneakers on the shoe rack and tucked them in her feet, the laces already tied. “Everyone has already been warned. I will be delivering the miraculous and we will make plans on how to take down Hawkmoth for good.”
"... But first we have to wake Chloe." Luka points. "Who's going to be the unlucky one?"
○○○
After managing to wake Chloe without resulting in a murder, they were quick to leave Marinette's home for Fu's massage parlor, the current headquarters of the miraculous team and where Zatanna had lived for three months when they were away.
"We are here, losers!" Alix announced pompously.
Upon arriving, they found Adrien talking to Jon in a corner; Max, Tim and Barbara on the computer browsing documents that appeared to be important; Félix and Kagami sat at the big table - which Adrien insisted on calling the round table and Marinette found it unnecessary - analyzing a detailed hologram of the streets of Paris.
No sign of Kim or Zatanna yet.
The entry of the five drew everyone's attention; Tim and Felix's eyes doubled in size as they focused on Marinette.
"What the hell, Mari?!" Tim choked on his words.
"This is what I call transformation." Barbara commented amusedly.
“Everyone has undergone drastic changes, Drake. I'm sure you didn't react that way when you saw the others.” Marinette replied.
"Of course not! Nobody came here looking like an Amazon.”
Kagami coughed against the fist, eyebrow raised.
"Okay, I take back what I said." Tim raises his hands in surrender. "But you have to agree with me, Marinette is the most surprising change here."
Adrien nodded frantically in agreement. “When you showed up at school earlier, everyone was shocked. I hardly recognized you.”
Max and Felix scoffed. "Yes, we noticed the warm looks you were shooting at Mari." Max pointed out causing Adrien to choke in embarrassment.
“Oh, is that so? Interesting." Damian murmured, a frankly murderous look on his face. He had already taken the seat next to Felix.
"What? No! You got it wrong.” Adrien stammered, his cheeks red.
“Okay, Adrien. I'm not jealous." Luka said. The malicious curve in the corner of his mouth making it clear that the musician was loving seeing the model turn into a hot mess in front of everyone.
"Luka!" Adrien groaned painfully and turned to Jon. “You know it's not true, right? Everyone knows that I only have eyes for you.” He pouted.
The brunette put his arm around the blonde's waist, bringing him a little closer. “Of course, I know dear. I totally trust my charm.” He winked seductively; Adrien's blush only growing in intensity.
The two of them seeming to forget that their friends were there.
"Ugh, nobody deserves to watch these two making out with their eyes." Chloe moaned on the chair, still drowsy and irritated at being woken up.
"Think on the bright side!" Marinette said happily.
"What would it be...?"
"At least this time they are dressed and aware that there are other people in the room." Kim replied upon entering.
"... I think we better split them up before they really forget we're here." Kagami pointed a finger at the two boys who had started a kiss in a way that, in her opinion, should be inappropriate for people under fifty.
"Does anyone have a spray bottle?" Damian asked.
And Marinette stopped to analyze the physical changes in her team.
So, the fact was: yes, Marinette was the person with the greatest physical change among the miraculous group. Because in addition to the height, she got muscles (which she didn't have before). It wasn't something like a body builder would be, but it also made it clear that she had a pretty intense exercise routine.
Kagami had also grown a lot, losing to Mari by just a few inches. Even before wielding the dragon's miraculous, she had already developed some muscle due to the intense fencing routine; so, the only things that had changed was the increase in body mass around the shoulders, biceps and calves.
Alix didn't grow much, just two inches from what she was before, and the muscles in her body hadn't been developed as visibly as the two asian girls. She had a better definition, elasticity and mobility had improved dramatically.
Chloe was the only one of the four parisian heroines who had no visible change. She remained thin and flexible, with no pronounced hard muscles. Diana had said that the blonde's body was the type that hid her power. The deceptive, fragile type, but who was agile and fatal. Which suited Chloe.
Of the boys, the shock had been Damian. Damian, who, like Marinette, was one of the smallest on the team - followed by Alix and Max - reached his desired height of 6’3”; surpassing both Bruce and Jason, the tallest in the Wayne family.
But that didn't surprise Marinette or Tim, since Damian's parents were both quite tall. They hoped that eventually Damian would start to grow like a weed.
Anyway. While Damian did not grow muscle mass like a brick house like Jason, his shoulders grew broad and powerful, biceps pronounced, muscles lean and defined. He achieved a perfect match between raw power and agility.
Luka surprisingly hasn't changed much. He put a few inches more - taller than Marinette by just an inch, but smaller than Damian by four - but his muscles didn't grow. They just became more defined. And Marinette understood that.
Among all of them, Luka, Alix and Max were the ones who least physically attacked akumas; sometimes they even stayed out of the fight, as their powers were only for a very critical situation.
Adrien somehow still had room to grow. You see, it wasn't like he was short before; for a twelve-year-old boy - before wielding the ring - he was already quite tall, so even with the magic interfering, he still had a decent height for a teenager.
Then discover that there was still room for him to reach Damian? That was surprising.
Unlike Luka, Adrien gained muscle mass. The blonde, over the years, showed that there was no mercy when it came to eating. He never refused food, always chewing what he could as if there was no tomorrow, since at home, his diet was strict. But even with that, he never gained weight.
Always the same skinny boy as always. So skinny that Sabine had made it her life's mission to fatten the Agreste boy. (Which did not work, but it did not diminish the determination of the Chinese woman.)
Then, without the interference of magic, Adrien grew up.
The boy who was once skin and bone, now looked like the blonde version with green eyes of Kim. He didn't get uncomfortably muscular, but the muscle tone he got was insane. Even wearing a hoodie that was supposed to be 2x bigger than its ideal size, it was possible to see that some corners of the seams were stretched on the shoulders and chest.
Gabriel probably burst a vein when he saw his son's transformation. The more youthful Adrien looked, the better it was for him to sell the image of "teenage prince".
Kim was the least surprised, as he was already big even for a teenager. In addition to his shoulders - which became broader - he grew a few inches, bumping head-on with Marinette and Luka. The chest remained strong and his body seemed to have no problem staying flexible.
Félix followed the same path as Luka - which Marinette secretly thanked, since finding a bodybuilder Félix would be beyond strange -, remaining tall and elegant. Lean, well-defined muscles. He remembered Chloe's changes. Silent, but fatal.
He was also in the race for whoever got higher with Adrien and Damian.
Max, on the other hand, must not have grown more than five inches. His muscle tone did not grow at an alarming rate either, remaining mostly thin, but looking agile. Like a person who runs five miles every morning without losing his breath or sweating.
Which was good, since Max was never a fitness person and everyone knew it. If he appeared like a damn monster truck out of nowhere - like Marinette, Kagami and Adrien - it would make people ask even more and they didn't want to attract more attention than they were already getting.
All of this, of course, without pointing out the other obvious changes that puberty brought.
The lack of baby fat, sharp jaws, developed curves, deep voices... Marinette managed to get used to her new height, but was not finding peace of mind with the new weight of her chest.
She clapped her hands to get everyone's attention and smiled.
"Let's start?"
And everyone, including the two lovebirds, sat around the table.
They would only leave with a solid plan against Hawkmoth.
BONUS:
"Wow, did you see how some of Ms. Bustier's and Ms. Mendeleiev's students looked different?" Lila heard extra #1 gossip with extra #2.
"I saw it, girl!" Extra #2 responded. "Everyone is saying that they joined a gang."
"Oho, do you believe that?!"
"Well, won't you say that you didn't find Agreste's new appearance strange?"
Lila jumped when she heard the name of one of her enemies. She moved closer to the two girls to hear the conversation better.
It could be something she could use against the ice king.
“Did you see Dupain-Cheng?! That was insane!”
The Italian bristled when she heard Maribrat's name. Still confused about what the two girls were talking about.
She had decided not to go on the first day of school to make a flashy comeback, so what had happened, she didn't know.
"And Adrien?!"
"I know!"
And that was it! Lila needed to know in detail what was going on.
"Excuse me, girls..." She sweetened her voice as much as she could. The two girls looked at her confused. "I wanted to first apologize for listening to your conversation and also to ask what you were talking about..." The ‘poor woman’ expression stuck to her face.
The two girls were even more confused. "Didn't you come yesterday?"
"No. My flight from Achu took longer than expected and I just arrived today.”
"Ah..." Extra #2 waved. “Is that- Ah! In fact, just look back and you will understand!” She said hastily.
Extra #1 looked over Lila's shoulder with a haunted expression. Waving violently.
And when Lila turned... What the fuck was that.

I am v curious about the Amali/Tekehu Wicked AU :3
Ask Me About My AU’s
This one’s also fun.
I…also kind of borrowed @emjs-good-out-here's OC Mia for this one (don’t worry, she, Amali, and Tekēhu all have happy ends). I hope she doesn’t mind.
This AU kind of takes place on Eora (with some minor-moderate lore tweaks). Much like in the musical, the first part takes place at an academy (I’m thinking it’s located in Defiance Bay, but I’m not 100% on that). Another note about this AU is that the Leaden Key isn’t a secret organization. They are actually a prominent governing body in Eora who have kept a tight grip on animancy studies via strict regulations the group has managed to pass in various regions. Sun in Shadow is an actual city, which will replace the “Emerald City” from Wicked. Also, there are dragon statues made of adra scattered around the Dyrwood countryside that will be important later.
Amali differs from the other students on account that she is the only death godlike in attendance. Like in her canon, she has faced persecution for that all her life. She has traveled to the Dyrwood to study animancy. Mia is also there, as the academy also has a prestigious chanter’s college (Mia already had a ludicrous career in opera as a child star, but she’s currently taking a break to attend to her studies).
Amali draws the attention of the school administration on her first day by not only showing that she has cipher abilities, but also as a Watcher when she accidentally summons ghosts to haunt the school in response to getting bullied. The headmaster, Thaos takes interest in her and informs her that he will send word of Amali’s abilities to Sun in Shadow, where the gods themselves may be able to find a place for her. Excited, Amali happily accepts Thaos’s tutelage.
Shenanigans happen, Amali ends up rooming with Mia in Mia’s suite. They start of not being able to stand each other blah, blah, blah they sing songs about it. Eventually Tekēhu shows up to the school. He charms all the students there with his good looks and carefree ways. Mia is instantly smitten with him, and he finds her enchanting. He’s also in one of the animancy classes that Amali does TA work for and is also in the art club with her. At first Amali doesn’t really think much of him. She finds him a bit of a blowhard, but Tekēhu takes a shine to her fairly quickly and she warms up to him a bit after he asks her to tutor him for his animancy class. He’s also one of the first people ever to not treat her badly because she’s a death godlike and actually treats her very kindly. He also drops a bit of lore on her that the adra dragon statues were actually sculpted by the Huana and taken from the Deadfire Archipelago when the Engwythans came to force their religion on them, and negotiations are currently taking place to take those statues back.
After some time, Mia and Tekēhu decide to throw a party in Anslog’s Compass. Tekēhu wants to invite Amali, but Mia, who has been sensing that he and Amali have been getting close, is against the idea. Rather than voice her misgivings out loud, she decides on a plan. Amali had been trying to get her artwork displayed in a gallery, but has been unsuccessful because of the discrimination she faced. Sensing an opportunity, Mia pulls some strings to get Amali’s work displayed right on the weekend of the party so Amali can’t attend. Amali immediately catches on to why Mia did what she did, but instead of getting angry, Amali thanks Mia for helping her and assures her that she is not trying to win Tekēhu’s heart in any way (she has not developed feelings for Tekēhu yet). Feeling rather touched, Mia tells Amali she’s welcome and maybe Amali could show her some of her artwork sometime.
Unfortunately, the plan kind of backfires. When Amali tells Tekēhu that she cannot attend the party because she has to display her works at a gallery, Tekēhu immediately gets excited and insists on at least visiting the gallery before going to the party. Despite many protests from Amali and Mia, he is quite adamant on going. Mia is absolutely fuming, but decides to go to the gallery with him rather than leave him alone with Amali. Despite the drama, the three of them actually have a rather nice time at the gallery together before Mia and Tekēhu leave for the party.
After all that, Mia decides that she and Amali are Best Friends™. Amali gets invited to more girl’s nights out than she ever has in her life, and they get lots of makeovers, etc.
Meanwhile, things are not going so well for the animancy program. Professor Iovara tells in Amali that the Leaden Key has imposed even more restrictions on what can and cannot be studied, and that might have an impact on the program at the university. Iovara has also received warnings from the Leaden Key for teaching dangerous topics to students. In secret, she also tells Amali that she has done some research into animancy that disproves a lot of the claims that the Leaden Key has been saying, but she needs more time to collect more data.
One day, while Amali and Tekēhu have a study session, some bullies try to torment Amali, which triggers another accidental surge of her powers, affecting everyone except her and Tekēhu. Amali then starts having a panic attack because now she’s afraid that Tekēhu will think she’s a monster. Tekēhu calms her down from the panic attack and assures her that there is nothing wrong with her. It is at this point that Amali starts to develop some feelings towards Tekēhu, though she feels guilty and heartbroken over falling for her best friend’s boyfriend.
Some time passes, Iovara “suddenly” leaves the school. Thaos informs Amali that the gods want to grant her an audience and invites her to accompany him to Sun in Shadow. Amali gets excited because she believes this to be the chance to air some injustices that godlikes and animancers face. She invites Mia to go with her, and the two of them head out to the Engwythan capital.
The two of them have a blast, songs get sung, shopping is done, etc. Eventually, they get called into the gods’ chamber, where they can speak directly to the gods themselves. It is there that Amali and Mia learn the truth: there are no gods. These deities are constructs made from soul energy for the purpose to unite the world. Amali is furious at that revelation and wants to run off to start a revolution, but Mia is hesitant and stays behind.
Some more time passes. The Leaden Key spreads propaganda about this evil death godlike plaguing the countryside conducting sinister animancy experiments and committing blasphemy against the gods. Mia gets elevated, she and Tekēhu get married, and it seems their lives couldn’t get better. However, they cannot shake off the fact that it comes at a cost of the Leaden Key saying these horrible things about Amali. It eventually becomes too much for Tekēhu and he storms off.
Same thing happens in the play. Tekēhu defects over to Amali’s side. The two of them run off into the country near one of the adra dragons and declare that they are in love with each other. They get caught. Tekēhu tries to cover for Amali while she flees, thinking that the soldiers won’t hurt him. He’s wrong and they kill him. Amali does some cipher/Watcher chicanery to try to bring him back. It doesn’t seem to work. She falls into despair.
I’m still a little hazy on the final stretch. I’m thinking the Leaden Key finally find Amali’s hideout and try to surround her. She defeats them all and Mia shows up. Amali tells Mia what happened to Tekēhu and that everything the Leaden Key has been saying is a lie. Mia is just happy to see that at least Amali is alive, but the two of them don’t have long. They share a kiss before Amali has to go into hiding.
Meanwhile, Tekēhu’s soul has inhabited one of the adra dragons. He finds Amali and the two of them fly away. Maybe they will see Mia again in the future. I think in the books, Elphaba does find Glinda again, but I’m not sure.

Time for another set of questions, yet again only 1 for each idea/au/project you have :D FLEE: Have there ever been an ocassion where the trio is separated and they have to find their way back to eachother, either in a small town or in different locations altogether? SWUP: Can we get a bit more about Courtney, Charlie and Derrick? Courtney sounds like would have to fight a bit of the bias present in the books she studies from, and it seems that Charlie, her little brother, is in love with James XD Derrick meanwhile doesn't seem like a bad guy if he keeps his fight outside of human eyes/influence if he can help it; wether that's because of the goverment or because he really worries about the humans is another story :V LuckyBen!AU: Has Kevin ever in this AU got transformed by his many attempts to absorb the Omnitrix? Considering all the things that are different from the OG series in this AU, I'm not sure if he's even been able to do that in the first place, or how it could've been solved if he managed to do so Gecko: Here I'll help you focus a bit on the writting of your story and throw you a bone, please tell me as much as you can without spoiling anything of the story. Usually just writting what you have already or telling someone else can get your creative juices running, and help you focus enough to continue the story :D Welp, that's all for today's batch of questions, good luck focusing in your current projects so they might sail smoothly from here on out :3
Lovely!
I'll jump right in.
FLEE:
Many times, I mean one is always with Robin because, poor baby can't defend herself. Much as she likes to say otherwise.
It generally happens when Trisitan loses his patience to Leo's hostility. Otherwise he'd always track Leo down when he has one of his tantrums.
An exception to this is when they'd be forecably seperated, be it from humans, hybrids, goliath bobbit worms, OR zombies.
No specifics of course, without spoilers...
SWUP:
Oh lord I have to think about other characters. deep breaths!! Jk, good writing practise.
Yeah Courntneys major character arc would straight up have her having to rethink her whole career, and life. Aliens exist, the police aren't so great, being by the books has consequences when it comes to street smarts. Speaking of she has none.
Her little brother, Charlie- less so in love with James, more so idolises, like to an unhealthy extent (don't meet your heros kids.). No teen romance for Charlie.
Derrick, I actually had a design for him, I refuse to show it off cause it looks hella crusty dusty musty. Like my deviantart days had me drawing shit haha ;; His original personality was the worry wart mum friend, but no. That character trait belongs to someone else.
Derrick though, he's not a good guy, he's not a bad guy. Chaotic? yes. Neutral? Also yes. His original intention for coming to earth was to look into suspicious unicorn activity on a Level 1 civilisation. Finding that Vicky was originally human, he's decided to stick around and figure out why some humans are being turned.
A big dragon policy is not to mess with lower level civilisations. They're harmless and mostly defenceless.
LUCKYBEN!AU
For the most part it happened once- the first and the last time he dared to approach Gwen without a backup plan. It happened during Gwen and Max's summer vacation- (which Ben missed out on).
They had met, Gwen and Kevin, a few times before, some were on good terms others were on bad terms. This day was a bad term.
Max had gone into a petrol station (gas station) to grab snacks and Kevin used that as his chance to attack. Gwen, unprepared used her omnitrix arm to shield herself from any blows. Kevin accidentally absorbed the omnitrix, but fortunately (for him) it was in small volumes until he was blasted away by the omnitrix's power surge. Also sent Gwen flying.
His arm was stuck as heatblasts for almost 2 weeks, but it made him realise pretty quickly that the omnitrix was too powerful for him to absorb. This universe's Kevins quite smart.
IT wasn't difficult to resolve the issue of his arm, but it also wasn't easy. He just had to really relax for a bit. Hard to do for an edgy bastard.
GECKO:
ooh. tryna make me think huh? well, ok.
Here's what I got for ya: (incoming biiiig paragraph.)
Mac is the protagonist of this story, he suffers from some mental health issues- but it's a common theme through most of my storys.
Mac moves to a small isolated village after the death of his mother, inheriting his mothers, mothers house- which was devided into a duplex. After settling in he starts to enjoy his life, far away from the busy city, only to find his world tilted in the wrong direction after discovering a talking gecko. Dubbed as Skittles, from Mac- because the gecko wouldn't say his name and there's no backsys.
Their meeting did not go well, Mac had launched the poor Gecko after discovering it talks, nearly killing it. So for the gecko to survive it merely asks for some blood. Some little shop of Horrors vibes going on there. https://youtu.be/L7SkrYF8lCU (if you haven't seen it it's really good)
To Macs surprise Skittles pulls and uno reverse and enters Macs blood stream- now Macs forced into - what he calls a parasitic- but is actually symbiotic relationship with his new friend.
As Mac continues living his life in this town he realises things aren't exactly normal, I mean he's gotta gecko living in his brain, duh.
Especially with these odd people who keep approaching him, normally dressed in some form of black. Who also are in the same predicament as him- but their's is SEEMINGLY by choice. And their geckos don't talk to them.
There also seems to be quite a fair few monsters in this town, they usually stay hidden from humanity- but Mac has been forced to fight them more than once.
gotta be vague here.
Join Mac on his journey of discovering the secrets of Mint Town - (which has herbs as its street names - hehe)
Thank you once again for your questions, and today I had great focus- I lost some blood to a blood test- but iron tablets help for that

For the two AUs, 15 and 51 for Marlene?
15- Criminal AU & 51- Accidentally Married (I’ve never written anything related to being accidentally married so this should be interesting! Also, lots of holes in between because I’m just going to write the relevant plot points that include the two AUs. Feel free to fill in the blanks or if you wanna know the lil things I’ve got in between, feel free to spam my DMs or ask box xD
i. (Some exposition) In the modern era, Marya is a well known criminal from the lower class who often went by the alias, The Terrible Dragon. She is fierce in combat as she was in using fire as her weapon of choice (from handmade flamethrowers strapped to her wrists). She manipulates shadow and light to conceal herself as she proceeds with her acts of crime, and it’s hard to believe that she’s just some ordinary woman. She’s agile, skilled and a very very dangerous woman. Many people have commisioned her to do their dirty jobs for a good price which she very willingly does. However, she does not kill. The most she would do is break-in and steal for her benefit as well as her goddaughters. Hélène, simply being a curious woman, finds herself hunting Marya down and she eventually runs into the woman on the streets, and their first meeting is, well, rather steamy with tension.
ii.  How they find themselves accidentally married? Much later into the friendship they created, Marya is finally comfortable enough to attend the events Hélène hosts with her brother and best friend, Anatole and Dolokhov. They’ve all already developed some form of knowing one another so Marya is highly aware of who the two of them are. Anatole and Dolokhov can literally smell the chemistry off of them and so there’s some lingering scheme at the back of their heads that only they would find funny. Eventually, Marya becomes far too comfortable. A lot of drinks were passed around to both Marya and Hélène by Anatole’s own hand and Dolokhov prepares for the scheme. Once Hélène and Marya are intoxicated enough, the two men thought it would be funny if they orchestrated some wedding for them with actual certificates. With Anatole, he had resources to anything and so this was how it happened.
iii.  Upon discovery that they were accidentally married, Marya begins to push Hélène away for so many reasons. One of them is because she does not want Hélène getting involved with her criminal business for the sake of her safety and most importantly, Hélène certainly deserved someone better. Sure, they could have gotten a divorce but it’s the marriage that makes Marya realize that she’s caught feelings too. When Marya vanishes, Hélène is heartbroken. At first she doesn’t understand why she’s all heartbroken until she realizes, ‘Hey, I actually do love her...’ And why does she love Marya? She’s brought her more thrill in her life than anyone in her 28 years of living, and her presence (no matter how snarky Marya can be) is so very comforting. With no word from Marya for months, Hélène returns to her old boring life but she can’t get married. After checking in with the papers, they’ve been registered and she’s officially married. It’s just surprising that Marya hasn’t done anything yet to break it off.
iv.  They meet again under much worse circumstances almost a year later. Marya falls into a trap when she follows a false lead that brought her into an empty house where she’s caught. She’s caught by other criminals who were commissioned by the police to get her with the reward of being excused of all their charges. It becomes a rather violent scene since Marya has to try to escape from a group of skilled men and women. The whole thing ends in a mess and Marya loses this battle, horribly. Locked up, Marya is informed that her spouse has been notified about her arrest and Marya takes that as a joke, even boldly laughing at the news.. She hasn’t forgotten Hélène but some part of her wonders if she will actually come. She thinks Hélène won’t come since she abandoned her months ago and she thinks she’s right because Hélène doesn’t show up that day. However, she does the next day with bail money. Hélène’s rich enough, please, and since Marya hasn’t done anything too severe besides steal A LOT OF THINGS, she’s free to go.
v.   Hélène even voluntarily drives Marya back to wherever her home is but it’s awfully quiet. There is something in Hélène’s demeanor that gives away her inward sadness and distress, despite how composed she is, They have not even exchanged a single word since Hélène arrived, unless you counted Hélène’s offer to drive her back then maybe just around 6 words from one end. When they reach Marya’s home, neither one of them moves or speaks until Hélène asks Marya why she isn’t getting out of the car. Marya tries to apologize but Hélène doesn’t want to hear it, saying that she’s gotten past it already and that Marya would be apologizing for nothing. Hélène hardly makes any eye contact either which distresses Marya because it just seems like she’s become an unbearable sight. DRAMATIC EFFECT. Hélène whips out the divorce papers that she’s already signed stating that once this was signed, they’d have no more reason to see each other and they could move on with their lives. Marya, who’s bewildered, admits why she ran and she didn’t think it would affect Hélène so badly. Hélène doesn’t respond and Marya takes that as her cue to leave.
vi.  Did you think there was going to be a happy ending? :) Nope. The divorce papers are finalized and they do go about their lives without each other’s involvement. The only thing that brings them together? Hélène and Pierre’s wedding. Since Pierre and Marya are close friends, they have monthly visits. There is no love in their marriage but it’s funny to see how they’re happy. Pierre certainly is no match for Hélène but they made it work, and it was something Marya could have done long ago had she not been a coward.
