i don’t think it’s talked about enough that the reason there’s a Godwyn ending where he becomes a Lord (not a God) is because symbolically, he was mirroring Godfrey in more than just name.
Godwyn’s alive body sprouting fish tail and scales isn’t just a random design choice, it’s a reference to Confucius' The Book of Rites, where it’s stated that the subjugation of the Four Divine Beasts will grant the person who tamed them different kind of control:
- Dragon -> control over animals with scales (specifically, FISH. See?)
- Qilin (Lion) -> control over beasts (think of how the Hornsent coveting the power of the Crucibles via the lion dance ritual. The “lion” in lion dance is Qilin in the native language of Asian countries that celebrate that tradition. And it’s why Godfrey’s symbol is a lion, why lion imagery plays such important role in Elden Ring world)
- Phoenix -> control over birds
- Turtle -> control over the heart of men (this might be a reach but Miquella’s connection to the Carian family and thus, the Turtle Pope could be a nice parallel to this)
in Godfrey’s cut dialogues, he said “Dearest Marika is precisely what I must take back” and “Dear Marika, do not fear. I am returned.”, and even without all that, The Talisman of Lord’s Bestowal stated that Godfrey accepted his duty without any sign of wavering, even taking Serosh upon his back so he could conduct himself as a Lord worthy of her. Bro, he loves that girl, he passed Messmer’s vibe check with flying colors.
For Godwyn to be a fruit of such a loving union, i do think Godfrey instilled in him a sense of duty to protect his Mother, and there’s his own love and devotion to her as well. Leyndell Knights all use Dragon Cult incantations and buffs - the kind of power that is only available to them because Godwyn befriended Fortissax (which is why i said that move has an ulterior motive to it).
All of that brings me to this main point I’m trying to make: does Godwyn really that devoid of agency?
I see it’s a popular interpretation in the fandom that oh Godwyn was just a symbol, he had no voice, we never knew what he wanted, etc etc… Do we really not know though?
Sorry for slapping another fandom on this, but this is really relevant to my understanding of Elden Ring as a story, even with the base written by a Western author, was developed by a Japanese team of storytellers and designers:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The concept of soul - body and body snatching etc etc exists a lot in Asian media, and there’s always a general consensus that the body remembers even as the soul perishes. What is Godwyn’s body is doing? The game specifically states that his body is alive. He only perishes in soul.
He was infesting the Erdtree’s roots, spreading Death around like free real estate. If he wanted to let go of life, of his Mother, his body should have just let go on its own. But no, he was tenaciously clinging to the Erdtree, to Marika.
Even Fortissax remembrance stated that despite its best effort, it could not fight back the Death within its friend. If Godwyn really, truly wanted to embrace a true death, would his body just let Fortissax fight alone in an uphill battle like that?
Then there is the DLC revealed that Godwyn’s personal knights were in LoS to find and guard his cadaver surrogate, specifically for the Age of the Duskborn. Their helm stated that their loyalty to him is unbroken. So will they just go and do something that their Master would not want?
These Knights are literally an elite circle that was bestowed the most precious of jewels in Godfrey’s time (the +3 medallions), they aren’t merely good, they are the very best. They are Godwyn’s inner circle the same way the Fire Knights are said to be the ones who know Messmer best.
Even if you think Fia and Those Who Lived in Death were just taking advantage of Godwyn’s death… her endgame goal technically did not even succeed. She wanted to be Mother to TWLiD, but the ending very much shows that the Mending Rune was returned to Marika’s womb. It’s her who would birth Godwyn a second life, so the True Mother™ to TWLiD… would actually be Marika 💀
Like, am i the only one who saw this as some real crazy 4D chess Uno reverse move from Godwyn? Oh these ppl wanted to get rid of him then took advantage of his body? Fine, he would take that challenge and run a mile with it. If Age of Duskborn came, it meant Ranni didn’t succeed, Fia didn’t actually get to be Mother of TWLiD, Death - the very thing that Marika tried to seal, would now be something within her control, because Godwyn is its Lord now. Exactly like how the Dragons’ power became something wielded in Marika’s favor in the end. Thanks to him.
In the Duskborn ending, bro, the God would still be Marika. It’s the only possible new Age involving a demigod that doesn’t get rid of her. Even if it utilize heretical powers to get there.
And the crazier thing? This is not the first time Fromsoft did this, btw.

First I want to say I love your work so much. second is it possible for you to tell us a little more about your version of sins because you got me so interested
Thank you! And sure I can give you a brief run down:
Lucifer - Ruler of Pride, the creator of demons, goetias and the other deadly sins. Loved and feared by his people. Despite his fearsome appearance, he's described as having a "warm blanket" personality. You never know how to feel about him.
Satan - Ruler of Wrath, creator of hellhounds and mammal-based demons. Feared by his people. Loves to parade around the corpses of his enemies and has a love for dinosaurs. Also he's Luvart's daddy.
Asmodeus - Ruler of Lust, creator of succubi, incubi and various "lust-based" demons. Very cold and stiff in personality, but her rough exterior can falter when she/he's around Lilith. She's considered the cruelest Prince of Hell, as she created the prisons where various demons are tortured as punishment.
Beelzebub - Ruler of Gluttony, creator of bug demons. She's arguably the most powerful prince in hell, second to Lucifer, as she controls many other sectors in Hell (there was a civil war, dw about it). Unlike her "brothers", she is very small in size and is described as "unremarkable". She is also the only demon Prince who encourages "love" and is described as very motherly.
Mammon - Ruler of Greed, creator of reptile demons, dragons, and digital demons (aka, robots and androids). Not much is known about him. He's very close with Beelzebub.
Leviathan - Ruler of Envy, creator of fish demons, amphibian demons and various weather based demons. He is the first demon Lucifer ever created and treasures him greatly, always obeying his every want and demand. Unlike his "brothers" who try to have a sense of regality to them, Leviathan is childish, brash and easy to offend. He's also the strongest out of all of them, even surpassing Lucifer.
Belphegor - Ruler of Sloth, creator of plant demons, imps and fairies. He despises Lucifer and spend most of his time in his palace mourning. Due to being uninvolved in managing in his Kingdom, it lead to another civil war, where Beelzebub ended up taking complete ownership.
Side note: Demons don't typically call certain rings Lust/Wrath/etc. they're referred to as "Beelzebub's Kingdom" or "Satan's Kingdom".
Also there are other types of demons that I didn't list off, like slime, bicorns, etc. Just wanted to list off the main ones

Hi! Regarding your recent post about how you taught your writing workshops, I was reading through it and was feeling very inspired (you sound amazing as a teacher), but I also really wish I had a community like that. Since I'm currently focusing on an original work, I was wondering how do you go about finding fellow writers/betas that you can trust with work and form a mutual writing relationship with? I've looked for and joined many communities like Nanowrimo and discord servers over the years, yet nothing seemed to click? So yeah sorry for the bother but I was wondering if you had any advice :D
Re: "you sound amazing as a teacher" -- aw thanks! I was an INCREDIBLE teacher. That might sound kind of vain to say with so much assurance, but it truly was the first time in my life where I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that I was doing a really, really fucking good job. (And that's WITH my anxiety, so like. Oof.) I just set out on purpose to be the kind of teacher I always longed to have when I was an apprentice writer, and that got me most of the way there. The rest was just spite for all the shitty creative writing classes I'd had before LOL. I'd already seen all the mistakes myself from the other side, so I just came up with better ways of doing things. And then day one of class, I had them all do a self-assessment of what they wanted to learn in the class, what fears they had, etc, and I was really struck by how universal the sense of insecurity and under-confidence was in all their replies. So that just confirmed what I already suspected, to wit: my ONE JOB (and again, this was a "writing and publishing scifi/fantasy" class) was just to hammer in the idea of, "Your ideas ARE cool, the things you think are cool ARE IN FACT COOL, you ARE allowed to write about queer dragons or whatever and that's an awesome thing to be doing and I'm HERE FOR IT." If the one thing a student takes from a creative writing class is more confidence in their writing and more trust in themself, then the goal has been achieved. If a teacher says anything else, we're verging on snobbery (Iowa Writer's Workshop can go get fucked btw)
ANYWAY.
Finding a beta you click with is a lot like finding a friend or a romantic partner who you click with. That is: there's a lot of fish in the sea, but not all of them are going to be right for you, and sometimes it takes a while to find that special person. It sounds like you're doing all of the right things, though, so just keep at it.
That said, a couple lifehacks: do NOT talk about your work with the vibes of "hey, i'm looking for a beta, does anyone want to beta for me?" because (at least in my experience) those acquaintances often turn out to be sort of transactional and shallow -- think of people who walk into any situation like "hey will you be my girlfriend? i'm looking for a girlfriend. do you want to date me as my girlfriend??? will someone please be my girlfriend?" rather than trying to make genuine connections with people as *people* versus the role that the girlfriend-seeker wants to put them in. (Exception to this: Fandom-specific servers where you are looking for a beta for a fic. Then it's less weird to ask out loud for a beta, because you've already established a mutual shared interest/passion. It's not cold-calling in the same way, you get me??)
Instead, aim to project vibes of "I'm having so much fun playing in my sandbox :) I am having so much fun by myself, maybe too much fun in fact [psychically broadcasting that the fun is in such abundance around here that there would be enough to share if someone happened to wander past...]" Post about your work, talk about it in public, give people little excerpts or tidbits you're proud of. Look for people who express interest in the sort of fun you're having, and then start up conversations about it. Look for people who are having the sort of fun of their own that you're interested in, compliment them on it and ask questions, and build a relationship. (If they're writing the sort of thing you're into, chances are that you're writing the sort of thing they're into. Not always, but frequently!)
Sometimes it is possible to take an existing friend who is interested in your work (or at least supportive of it and loving of you) and kind of train them into being a great beta reader even if they themselves are not really a writer. It takes a lot of self-knowledge of what you're looking for and what you need in terms of feedback, it takes some patience and trust in your relationship with them, it takes the ability to negotiate boundaries and ask really good questions, and it takes a friend who is game to try and who likes the sort of things you like. (Personal recommendation: Don't try to get feedback from someone who isn't even interested in the genre that you're writing. A dedicated literary fiction fan is probably going to have a REAL hard time appreciating your gruesome scifi horror book for what it is, and if they're not familiar with the genre conventions, their suggestions are predisposed to be kind of Weird and Not Right For What You're Writing. Accept their love and support, but also accept that neither of you are going to have a good time if they try to beta for you.)
Trying to build relationships in an open community like a forum or a Discord server is a good way to cast a wide net, but all deep lasting relationships happen on a single line between you and the other person, so look for opportunities to talk to people one-on-one in DMs to build that kind of creative intimacy.
It takes time! But if you're open about the things that are bringing you joy and you're talking about them and setting them out in plain sight, the right people will eventually be drawn to your joy/fun like moths to a flame. Humans cannot resist that shit.
If you've been doing that and it's still not working, check in with yourself -- is your project actually bringing you joy, or are you going through the motions? Readjust, reorient yourself, try again. Lean into it. Go hard or go home. If you're really truly genuinely having fun by yourself, then your eventual readers will too.
If you're doing all THAT and it's STILL not working (that is, if people are expressing initial interest but you can't hold their attention and they wander off once they read your work), then that's a signal that you've got a tension problem.
GOOD LUCK. You will find your people eventually, just keep going! :)

Have you ever read Borrasca?
Yes Anon, I read it.
I don't even know how to start this. My instinct is "Content warning" but like...where to even begin in terms of listing the content I would warn people about with Borrasca. I'll just say, that if you've already read it, you know what I'm about to discuss. If you haven't read it, do not go under the cut. Because it's better to experience this story yourself.
But only if you have the strongest of stomachs. You are not prepared and neither was I.
Still here? Okay. Content warning: Child sexual abuse, kidnapping/trafficking, (gruesome) murder, discussion of remains, infertility, incest, parental abuse, horror....did I cover everything?
I don't normally like creepypastas. I am not a horror fan. Never have been. It's easier to consume horror via reading because it ensures a lack of jumpscares but I still don't like it. The content all too often makes me queasy and just don't fit me. So it was fortunate that when I picked up this story, I had no idea it was horror. Because that genre just has telltale signs and, at least to me, those signs weren't initially there. It wasn't until the characters first visited the Treehouse that I began to feel uneasy, (especially the first instance of the Shiny Gentleman's "song of death") and not until Whitney disappeared that I knew the story would be dark. But then it throws you for a loop by doing that time-skip without any notification, no "Seven years later" etc. They just leave it to you to figure it out, House of The Dragon style, so it took me a bit to figure out what happened and that kind of wrapped up my attention. (Speaking of, as a major fan of the Thrones universe, a lot of this was stuff you'd think I'd be able to handle no problem, but that didn't make it any easier.)
Unfortunately, the story had fish-hooked me by this point and I wasn't going anywhere. One moment that properly stood out to me was Phil Saunders talking about all the missing people going in the ground, or, as he put it, "grounder." In hindsight, that is downright cruel foreshadowing, or maybe it was purely coincidental (but I doubt it) and it stuck out to me the first time. That whole sequence did, of him basically saying that when he got high, he would figure out that all these people going missing was no accident, and that everyone in town either knew, or chose not to know. For some reason, the "grounder" line stuck out to me, and the next time we heard the Shiny Gentleman, the description of it being metallic and everything just made me pause. I remembered the "grounder" line and...a truly horrifying thought crossed my mind about the place where bad things happen. And when I make obscure predictions about stories, I often wind up being exactly right. (It's a strange gift, I'd rather something useful like Sign Language or Tax Lax, but I digress.) What kept sticking in my mind was "Why?" I couldn't place who or why people were taken there to be put in the "grounder" or what they were wanted for.
Side note, a lot of my thoughts were wasted on trying to figure out the "skinned men." A masterful red herring with an actual explanation that works. I didn't think of the answer as a cop out, I just went "Ohhh...." The whole concept leads you on a wild goose chase to assume there is some sort of supernatural element to this story when there isn't, because reality is so much more frightening than fantasy. It all feeds into the Borrasca folktale, which helps build a mythos for the place and acts as a gateway for people in the town learning about it as they grow up without questioning it too strongly. Which is useful for things like the "song of death" which will be heard periodically but mustn't be something anyone overthinks. They ignore it, because they assume it's just a logging company up the mountain, or because they fear the whispers and legends about the "skinned men" and want nothing to do with it...or because they know. Or, even worse...they don't want to know. Like Tom Prescott said, the townspeople probably don't know everything, most of the time...but some of that is willful ignorance and complacency with a system that they must sense is rotten to the core. Even the more sympathetic characters like Anne and Meera, they aren't innocent in all this. Anne says it herself - everyone is guilty. Meera's refusal to participate in Borrasca to get a baby until she eventually wilts...that's not her "falling to the dark side." She was already there. Because clearly, she knew. She knew, and she did nothing. Then again...what can she do? What can any of them do? This is how evil institutions rise and remain in power. Complacency and hopelessness.
The other moment...I could call it prophetic, but like, I don't want to pat myself on the back. The story is just very well told. But I remember the moment, distinctly, that Graham Walker told Sam and Kyle that he would "never let Whitney go." And the wording...I noticed the wording. And I thought to myself in that moment, "You have her. I don't know how, but you have her." And it made sense. When children go missing, sometimes it's the parents who are behind it. I mean, we've all seen SVU, right? Up to that point I genuinely hadn't suspected Walker at all, because I just thought - if there is some deep conspiracy in this town, how could Walker be a part of it? He moved here, only a few years ago. But it's quite possible that he was involved with Drisking even before moving his family there because he did something "bad" that caused them to reassign him. Honestly, that entire act is filled to the brim with amazing foreshadowing. Like, the adults really shouldn't be talking about any of this or even hinting it around the kids - that's just a writing tool, right? Well, yes, but, all of the adults know and are either involved or they turn a blind eye, so it's the kind of thing they would want to introduce to the teenagers gradually - Owen and Meera's cryptic conversation about the "only other option." comes to mind. Especially Sam, as Walker undoubtedly wants to recruit Sam to the "business" even at this point, and so they have to start grooming him early.
Kimber. Probably my favorite character, though both her and Kyle are compelling. Kyle's fate may be the saddest part of the story, actually. But the entire journey of Anne's death, about the mysterious suicide note and the lengths Kimber had to get to in order to read it. The way her father slipped and mentioned it within earshot, and then all anyone could do was try to gaslight the kids into believing he never said that and there was no note. The way Kimber knew Prescott was involved but also just knew it wasn't an affair. Like, sure, she probably didn't want to believe Anne would do that, but it was much more than that too. The clues just didn't point in that direction - oh, and don't get me started on Tom Prescott's ravings, by the way...why did they put him in a home outside of Drisking if he's going to be ranting about Borrasca to anyone who talks their way into a visit? But I digress. Nothing made my heart pound more than Kimber's final texts. How she was so unresponsive for so long before just sending back "I found it." Like. She definitely had already read it, and was processing what she had been told. Of course, after being told that the police were coming to find her (complete with her father "objecting" to something with them) all she texts back is "They're here." And that's the last thing she sends, and jesus cartwheeling christ, that is basically proof that the cops kidnapped her but of course, Walker pretends he does not see it.
The foreshadowing is everywhere. There's a scene where Kyle says "She's my...my..." And Sam notes that he "still can't say it." Which, in hindsight...yikes. Like, the story itself stops short of saying what Kimber and Kyle are to each other. Obviously, Kyle meant "girlfriend" and that's what Sam understood. But rereading that moment is another punch in the gut. And so many of the most twisted reveals aren't actually reveals. A lot is left implied. You have to read between the lines and put the puzzle pieces together to figure some of it out. Like how the last baby born in the story is called "William" and then the Shiny Gentleman sings his song one more time. They don't explain what that means. But if you pay attention to the naming rule, then you know who William's father is. Whitney was putting out "shit babies" and Walker said he would "never let her go." He had to be the one behind her being sold to Borrasca, but he was seemingly the only one "visiting" her. I don't know how he arranged it that way but I know he did. They don't even directly confirm what the "Shiny Gentleman" is, if I recall. Oh, and Kyle and Kimber are an incestuous couple but honestly, that is the least of the town's problems and it's probably not a unique situation. They're all unknowingly unrelated, and it's not as though Kimber will be having Kyle's babies, right? Not in this town.
Like. Once you read it over again (or listen to one of the many live readings/podcasts) things become clearer. Jimmy Prescott is initially the worst human being in the story (and don't get me wrong, he's still a monster of immeasurable proportions, I cottoned onto that as soon as Kimber said he was checking her out when she was in fifth grade) but on a second consumption of the story...Graham Walker is the one I want to throw into The Shiny Gentleman, and he's never outwardly wicked the way Prescott and Clery are. He hides his darkness very well until his last scene and even then, he admits to nothing. Based on the scene where he tells Sam that he'll be taking the blame for what happened to Kyle, it reads in two ways. You think to yourself, he's definitely in on it, but on the other hand, maybe he just chugged the koolaid and is believing this town's bullshit over his own son. Until little William is born, and Anne's clue about the naming smacks you in the face. No, he's not just ignorant to the point of being part of the problem, he is so emphatically the problem.
Borrasca is...devastating.
It's horror, to be sure, but it's good horror, and I don't even come out of it scared. I come out devastated. Angry. Feeling hopeless. Because the villains win. The corrupt and wicked institution isn't going anywhere, because why would it? Prescott and Clery let Sam go, because why shouldn't they? The situation is under control no matter what Sam does. The entire town is either part of Borrasca or willing to turn a blind eye to it. Except Kathryn. I honestly believe she didn't know a damn thing and bless her for being a wholesome light in this dark facade of a town. There's nothing to be done except get the hell out of Drisking and never look back. To just try and forget.
P.S: I am aware of the sequel.
I didn't really talk about it here because I have mixed feelings about it. I appreciate the happy ending and god knows Sam and Kimber have earned it, but there were several aspects of the story that I just didn't enjoy. Don't get me wrong, the prose is as well written as ever, but the plot feels like wish fulfillment and without a mystery to drive the story I just wasn't as engaged. I mean, there was kind of a mystery but the answers didn't really click for me. While it's realistic and painful, seeing the way Sam treats Kimber is hard to read. It hurts. These two were best friends, and none of this is her fault. Obviously, she was a victim of Borrasca too. Also, I do not buy that Kimber would have ever trusted Prescott, even if he dangled Kyle's name before her. No way, no how. I don't know why Sam kept using his real name after he escaped, enabling both Kimber and Walker to find him again. I also think it's rather...I don't want to use the word "convenient" but the fact that he was best friends with a hacker...also, why would Borrasca have any records to begin with? Fine, fine, business and all, but why keep them for so long? Prescott talks about destroying all of them, including the backups, and it's like....motherfucker, why don't you do that on a regular basis? Why do you even have backups?
I also feel like the sequel just takes some of the dread out of the air by removing the ambiguity and the lies. Everything that was left implied in the original story is outright confirmed. Walker is shown to be the monster that we know him to be, when he never fully revealed those true colors in the original story. Ultimately, the idea that two people could walk into a criminal empire like this one and topple it so successfully, not to mention that they both survive...it just stretches my suspension of disbelief, especially for a story that has already established itself as gritty and heartless. I'm glad there's a happy ending out there for people who wanted one, and in my own way, I obviously wanted one too, but I remember being both sad and a little relieved that Kyle's years of trauma had taken physical toll on him and that he didn't just immediately embrace Kimber and Sam. Because there needed to be at least one bittersweet aspect to all of this, especially if they were getting Kyle back at all. Something about the way Kimber "reverted to her old self" and was even more than fine with physical affection again after the climax....like, no, that's not how that works, and the original story wouldn't have tried something like that. It's hard to explain but I just couldn't get into it in the same way.

Now, you may be starting to see a pattern. We do something REALLY COOL, we get REALLY full of ourselves, and then something knocks us down a peg.
Or. If you’re us. You just focus on the REALLY COOL bits and forget about things like consequences for your actions. Alkali banishing some aspect of the Dark Powers? Tanner breaking the laws of magic? Easy game. So easy
—we should go look for trouble.
Tumblr media
See we knew, loosely, something weird was happening at Bonegrinder. But we didn’t like... know what. We had other things to do. Drowning vistani girls to go save. Brides to woo. So the weird mill took a back seat until we decided to go check it out.
But first, because it was Arabelle’s birthday, we had a lovely little lunch out on Lake Zarovich. We had found a folding boat in Kalina’s attic at some point and Arabelle had gladly taken it - her former fear of the water was looking a lot less fearful with sea moms around and her little magic ring that let her alter self into a merfolk
We had a great time, just us and a bunch of NPCs hanging out on the boat, namely inviting a few of our aquatic friends from the sanctuaries below to just have a good time and chill with us. It was nice. They were having a great time being not-enslaved by merrow that were raising them for slaughter. A good birthday. Why not follow up lunch with a murder, right?
Back to Bonegrinder
And with the “uh-oh hag senses” wildly ringing bells... we took care of it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Were we wildly over levelled because we’ve been running Curse of Strahd wildly weird with various amounts of DLC in a lake? Yes. Was this exhilarating and fun? Also yes.
DMS: Let your players feel powerful. It is so much fucking fun. Let your friends have fun and they will absolutely not be prepared for consequences later.
Tumblr media
Did we even have a reason for coming down here besides rumors? Kind of. Tanner wanted access to the mill and to collect a bunch of bone meal among other reagents just in case he wanted to construct a fake dragon skull to make a swap with the real one or build a bomb. But hey. We saved some kids and they knew of Ismark, liked him better than their parents who sold them to hags, sooo now he’s a dad I guess.
So we have a great time. Clean out the mill. Find some weird things they were collecting, and decide to just... make our way back to Vallaki, catch up with the kids and Ismark, etc, etc. Day saved, day over, easy clap.
Or.
Strahd could just casually be waiting for us on the way back to Vallaki with a creepy storm and some bullshit ideas
Tumblr media
So we had some ideas of our own...
Tumblr media
And so we rolled initiative on what is still one of my favorite fights from this campaign, all because Strahd had to PrOvE a PoInT
Tumblr media
Just full chaos as we go up against Strahd and this storm elemental as he bounces between the Ethereal and Barovia.
Tumblr media
Never once has there been a consequence for my actions.
Tumblr media
Well. Never once has there been a consequence to ME for my actions.
Tumblr media
Sometimes DND is a game of numbers and planned actions that exist in perfectly neat, statblocks. Other times DND is forcing a clawed vampire to combat a wriggly trout and yelling at an infernal horse to stop giddy-upping.
And other times it is fucking fated in the stars.
Tumblr media
Mina used her own Divine Intervention and wrenched the nightmare and Strahd (who still has Arabelle in fish form in a sack) out of the Ethereal.
Tumblr media
One nightmare down, but the actual Nightmare remains with his hands on Arabelle and folks, that cannot be allowed.
Alkali in her divine, otherwordly form, took after Strahd and with a Nat fucking 20 brought down her spiritual anchor - sharp, rusty, and with enough spectral weight to hold a warship - on his fucking arm.
Tumblr media
Wounded to a point he probably hadn’t been wounded in a VERY long time, Strahd fled into the night, leaving us to hug and check in with Arabelle, as well as with a lovely parting gift: Strahd's right hand
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And never once will I experience a consequence.
Tumblr media
Never once.

Film 2010
January 1st, 2011
Films I thought Were Good Last Year
So….
Lets start with “Cracks,” which I know was released on the cusp of 2009 BUT it didnt make it to my local arthouse cinema until 2010, so for me, that counts. I frequently go the cinema alone because its pointless to socialize in dark rooms and the lack of a normal 9-5 job means there aren’t many people willing to bunk off work to see the daytime showing of a film about psychotic lesbian teachers… (or are there?)
Tumblr media
Anyway, lonesome cinema trips are a cathartic experience for distracting me out of what ever bad mood I have found myself in and at that point, early 2010, I had a case of mild heartbreak (emo music! Moping! etc) and this film lifted my spirits. It is a cheesy sentiment yes, but none the less true..
Winters Bone
A film about meth, squirrels and snow. Wonderfully underplayed and I was pretty smug throughout because I snuck in my own penny sweets.
Toy Story 3
I had so much doubt with its lack of Josh Whedon on writing credits and it’s presentation in pointless 3D but luckily it was great. I also think its nice for Tim Allen to have something to do.
Youth in Revolt
Do you dimly remember when Michael Cera was in Arrested Development and you thought “he’s good, i see a bright future for him as long as he doesn’t get pigeonholed as the same character in everything and become really annoying…plus he looks a bit like a dinosaur.” Well, our fears came true. Pigeonholed and more dinosaur like everyday, which is why it was a surprise to me when I enjoyed his dual performance as the protagonist Nick Twisp and the protagonists French moustache twirling alter ego Francois in this well written and silly film. Plus he manages to perform in it without ruining a comic franchise.
BONUS.
The Social Network
Thought it was gonna be okay, but it was actually better then okay and overcame that whole nasty Benjamin Button misfire by Mr Fincher, and I also think its one of the only films i could happily sit through twice in the space of a week.
Fish Tank
I feel there is a theme of cheating in this because once again this film came out in late 2009 but once again it was not avaliable for most Cardiff based mortals to view until 2010. Andrea Arnold has made a few films about put upon women and this film details the dancing ambitions of a girl who becomes embroiled in a very inappropriate relationship with her mothers boyfriend. Step Up it is not. The star of the film Katie Jarvis is much like 90’s star Shola Ama.
Jarvis was “spotted” after Arnold witnessed her arguing with her boyfriend at a train station much like Ama gained a record deal after she was heard singing on a tube. But I have higher hopes for the career of Jarvis.
The Runaways
I double billed this film with something else I cant remember, so that couldn’t have been as good…. Kristen Stewart proves she isn’t all mumbly hair sucking and she kind of rocks this
Kick Ass
This film made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside many many times.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
I confess I have not seen the rest of the millennium trilogy but this first effort was a well constructed who dunnit which may have felt televisual but if its good enough to require a America remake for those who cant read subtitles then that’s something….
Whip It
I saw this film when we were trapped in London because of the DAMMED VOLCANO. I was feeling pretty distraught about fate sending me back to Cardiff when I really wanted to be in New York so I needed some escapism.
I swallowed my reservations about this possibly being shit and gave it a go….and its bloody amazing. It doesn’t follow the generic “girl coming of age”  formula I expected plus has a line I can really relate to.
“I didn’t have a Barbie-roller-skates-phase, I had a fat-kid-sits-inside-and-reads-phase.”
The Killer Inside Me
It always feels strange to see a film alone in the afternoon about a sociopath who brutally beats up Jessica Alba and Kate Hudson, but sometimes your just in that kind of mood. Much like “Lust, Caution” I went to see this film based on the controversy that surrounded it, and much like  “Lust, Caution” I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was, and how a few well publicised scenes do not dictate what a film is actually about.  Though Michael Winterbottoms film is brutal and tough viewing it is also very good and at time hilarious, and the horrific violence of those few scenes did not feel like a effort in misogyny from the director, rather an effort in showing how truly unfeeling and narcisstic Casey Afflecks character is. The ending is pretty insane as well.
Monsters
When watching this I was aware of a building sense of unrest within certain fractions of the audiences, they were turning to each other and asking “is this title perhaps a bit misleading? There are definetely less monsters and more soft focus then I was expecting…Shall we sit here and giggle inanely instead of watching the film because we are too stupid to appreciate it? YES LETS.” Loved this film.
Of Gods and Men
I dragged my mother and sister along to this telling them a French film about Trappist monks in Algeria could be a bit of a laugh. Subtle and beautiful and I cried my eyes out like a little baby during the scene soundtracked by Swan Lake.
Other Notable Mentions
Eclipse
Harry Potter
Buried
Another Year
Ponyo!
Worst film Eva
Sex and the City 2

What kind of pets do you think Sevika would have or want? I have an au where she's a fighting dog rescuer, but I could also see her being a snake person if she had the time? Your thoughts? (Also how cute would it be if she had a kitten) hc/fic whatever is fine :)
Okay this is so cute I couldn't wait to do this request and I love that au! I can honestly see her having a soft spot for dogs, cats, snakes and how funny would it be for her to be sitting at a card game with a bearded dragon chilling on her shoulder.
If she's a dog person, she'd definitely have a big one. And no matter how big, she'd hold that thing like a damn baby
I think she'd be a pushover when it comes to strays. Maybe not enough to take them into her home (right away) but they'd definitely hang around her place because she feeds them
After a while she'd cave and have a variety of breeds in her home (idk if y'all have ever seen the TV show Hannibal but like Will does)
Practically a dog whisperer. Really good at training them. Will get upset with you for teaching them bad habits like begging
If a dog licks her in the face, the most girlish giggle will come out of that woman
She maybe had a dog that protected her when she was younger
Definitely likes animals more than people (me too, Sev)
If she's a cat person, she's a kitten magnet. Would know all the tricks to get even the most hateful cat to like her
Like the dog hc, she'd take in strays. Her window would be left open so they can come and go as they please
Imagine she's working on her arm at the table and one jumps up, she pauses what she's doing to give it a little scratch behind the ears
Imagine a little kitten just attacking her hand
She will swear and pout whenever she's clawed
She wouldn't hate hairless cats but they kind of unnerve her because they remind her of Silco lol
Needless to say but any kind of rodent does too
If she has a snake, she kisses it's snoot habitually
She'd have to stop it from getting caught in the mechanisms of her arm so she probably has a shirt pocket for it, if it's small
I find it really funny if she has a phobia of spiders
If you have a pet tarantula, she will literally question dating you because she thinks you're insane
Whenever you have it out she finds somewhere to be. You probably manage to convince her to try and sit near it's cage for five minutes, at least
Her eyes would be glued to its every movement
If she loses track of it for a second, she's frantically asking you where it is, and her voice definitely isn't high pitched
Sometime during her work for Silco, she yelped when she noticed a spider get close to her and it scared the shit out of him
They agreed (after some thinly veiled threatening) to never talk about it again
Okay but Jinx capitalizes on this fear and tortures this poor woman
She'd put fake(?) ones on Sevika when she's napping, in her desk drawers, etc
I can not see her giving a shit about fish, and if you got a tank she'd probably put her cigs out in it
Doesn't like crabs, one pinched her as a child and she flung it at the wall

👀 tell us abt ur fave tattoos!!! (a12)
I HAVE ARISEN
Ahem.
THANK YOU.
Yakuza Questionnaire
*Photo credits from the Yakuza Fandom Wiki.
Under a cut just to save some space since I've included images.
Note: A lot of this is my personal opinion and interpretation. For the actual emphasis on the lore and such, there's plenty of information to be had.
Also tagging @majimemegoro
Ahh the tattoo's. The irezumi really make up the yakuza series in such a special way. Each one is so beautifully crafted and perfectly fitting to all the characters. You know how much thought Horitomo and the developers put into them and while it's a bit of a shame that the more modern stories don't feature them as much for the changing times (and of course, subsequently the end of the yakuza in canon) they'll always hold such a special place in my heart.
If you ever look up the mythology and the symbolism that is integrated into them, you could spend some hours just really appreciating it.
As a quick note, characters who's tattoos I wish we got to see include:
Kashiwagi, Sera, Kazama, Nishitani, Sagawa.
I am so curious about them, WHAT DO THEY HAVE.
Arakawa Masumi from yakuza 7 too I KNOW he has something amazing and we have been denied.
Something else I've always also liked is how certain tattoo's in the series exist in conflict with other characters. *Like the symbolism between Kiryu and Mine's tattoo's, in that a kirin is legendarily one of the only beings that can defeat a dragon, etc*.
Kiryu Kazuma: The Silver Dragon
Tumblr media
Kiryu's irezumi is famous for good reason. It's stunning. Intricate, detailed, intense. The longer you look into this dragon's eyes, scales, pose, the more you seem to see happening. Protective, conflicted, strong, perhaps too stubborn. Maybe prideful, but with good intentions.
There's an element of eternal conflict in Kiryu's tattoo to me. He might rest, but this roaring dragon will almost never truly be 100% at peace, made to fight and challenge as it seems to be. But never will it let it's bearer go.
Majima Goro: The Hannya
Tumblr media
Majima probably has second most famous irezumi in series, and again, for good reason. His Hannya always seems both as though they are shielding him from the world with aggression and fear, but carefully guarding the lines of softer (but no less dangerous, after all-they got thorns) roses and clouds. Dramatic and strong, his irezumi carefully cloaks his body and presents the image he wants to the world with little question, all while safe guarding what tenderness lies beneath that screaming ruthlessness.
Saejima Taiga: The Tiger
Tumblr media
I love tiger man having a tiger tattoo but Saejima really does at times seem like a tiger personified. A cuddly side, a ferocious protective side. Strong, but not overbearing. Keeping what is safe and important close and quieter, gentler and more sensitive beneath. Tigers, like all cats are sharp claws and biting fangs, but have that nice, softer underside you can get at if they'll let you. And maybe, if you're lucky, something that will shield and hold you as well.
Sort of in a 'keep you warm in the winter' way, almost. Metaphorically, and less so.
Goda Ryuji: The Golden Dragon
Tumblr media
Honestly, that side story in Kiwami 2 sums up how good Ryuji's tattoo is better than I ever could. Strong, furious, bright and angry. You know exactly what you're getting from the man bearing this tattoo.
Or..do you?
Kasuga Ichiban: The Dragon Fish
Tumblr media
I ADORE Ichiban's mid-transformation dragon fish. The legendary koi that has almost gotten to it's peak. So close, but just not yet finished undergoing the challenges set before it to achieve that. In transition, having this permanently etched upon his skin makes me think of a character, a person who is always going to have some kind of mountain to climb, but most probably will come out on top. Maybe with more scars than he recalls, but perhaps that is part of the process.
There's an optimism to Ichiban's tattoo in it's intensity that I really like.
Mine Yoshitaka: The Kirin: The Guardian
Tumblr media
When I read about the kirin, and how it only shows up in the presence of someone it feels worthy of protecting-as well as being the one of the only creatures capable of defeating a dragon, I needed a moment.
It seemed so utterly on the nose and perfect that I just..had to sit. But it makes such sense. Mine is furiously devoted to one person, and one person only. And he will go through hell and high water to defend that person. Pretty fitting for a guardian. An angry, powerful guardian.
Dojima Daigo: Fyo Myoo: Acala, (Immovable Wisdom King)
Tumblr media
We can at times maybe question just how wise Daigo is, but I think he has a perfectly good head on his shoulders that at times is lead astray by a more stubborn, headstrong nature (and general pettiness and sassiness) with ultimately good intentions.
(I am saying I wish Daigo could have been as sassy and catty as chairman as we know he's capable of). Bearing the image of a king, one that is poised as both stubborn and wise, holding a green dragon coiled about the raised sword) seems appropriate.
Interestingly, I do believe it's hinted in yakuza 5 that Daigo is pretty booksmart, and we know he can be very cunning when he's allowed that chance (again yakuza five) and has good leadership skills present.
Katsuya Naoki: The Crane
Tumblr media
I'll be honest here, I'm not at all familiar with the mythology for Katsuya's but I'm a bird man and I love how pretty his is.
And he gets one of the best (if weird) tattoo reveals in series.
Kuze Daisaku: Enma: Judge and Ruler of Hell
Tumblr media
Feels pretty self-explanatory, badass and perfect.
Shimabukuro Rikiya: The Okinawa Viper
Tumblr media
Listening to Rikiya talk about his gorgeous viper is pretty much all I need to know it's incredible. And it's true. The amount of passion he holds about it and for it answers all this better, again than I ever could.
(And, like all of them it is just stunning).
And I'm including Aizawa's because I'll get in trouble if I don't.
But I did accidentally hit image limit on that, sorry @kulemii
Thank you for sending in and asking!

My favourite prompts:
A list of my favourite prompts that I’ve posted in the past, all curated into a huge list just for you guys!
1
Finally, the day has come. The villain is thought to be dead. The hero has won.
Until suddenly the hero learns the villain left them EVERYTHING in their will. Made them the owner and operator of all their illegal business.
Obviously, the hero plans to shut everything down immediately. But they quickly realize just how many people the villain employed… how many family’s they fed…
2
“You kissed me,”
“I did… and?”
“What-!? What do you mean and!?,”
“What more do you want?”
“An explanation would be a good start!”
“…or I could just do it again…”
*other person turns bright red,*
“Or… or that, I suppose,”
3
“What the hell are you doing here!?”
“I think the better question would be what in the hell are you wearing,” the villain replied, amusement clear on their face, like they were struggling to keep from laughing.
“What- it’s-” the hero blushed, remembering what they were wearing, “their pajamas! What are you-!”
“Oh my god…” the villain replied, like they were struggling to come to terms with what they were seeing, “the hero of the city not only own, but wears a onesie,”
“Excuse me!” The hero snapped in defence, “They’re comfortable!”
“They? You have more??”
4
“I gotta say hero,” The villain mused as they casually moved toward the cell bars, “I’ve been called many things in my life: monster, villain, outcast, loser, scoundrel,” they tilted their head, examining the hero before them, “but ‘our last hope?’” *clicks tongue* “that’s a first,”
5
You live in a world where anyone born with superpowers must become a super hero. It doesn’t matter what the power is, or how small it is, it is mandatory. It was deemed that having anyone with superpowers work alongside regular people was “unsafe” and “unfair.” Every year, dozens of superhero’s with powers useless for fighting are killed. You’ve managed to make it this long with nobody finding out you have a superpower. But how much longer can you hide in plain sight?
6
The city’s villain mysteriously disappears and hasnt been seen in a week. The people are celebrating, but the hero is worried. What if the villain is planning something big? Determined to stop whatever evil plan is brewing, the hero tracks the villain down, but they dont find what they expected. Instead of evil plotting, the villain:
-Has been taking care of a sick pet -Come down with the flu -Been helping arrange a friends wedding -Found out they were pregnant -Is getting married themselves -Mourning the death of a loved one -Has adopted a young pet and been occupied taking care of them -Has been helping one of their lackeys who’s in a desperate situation -Has been feeding the homeless and offering blankets
7
You’re the most wanted villain by all highest ranking authorities, but all the heros “just can’t seem to catch you” (they always let you get away) because all your crimes are things like stealing expensive medication and then donating it to hospitals, robbing toy stores and donating to orphanages, robbing banks and giving to charity, robbing grocery stores and feeding the homeless, ect
8
A hero/villain with the power to materialize their own tattoos. Got a wrench tattoo? Now you’ve got a wrench. Got a tattoo of wings? A bomb? A get away car? Well…
Dragon tattoos have always been popular, havent they?
9
Write about a genius inventor villain who, while watching the news, learns about a sick child in hospital doctors arnt sure they can cure. The villain realizes something theyve invented could cure the child. Now the hard part is convincing them to let the villain help.
10
The villain starts to notice the hero is feeling more down the usual, so they start leaving the hero little notes to cheer them up. All is going well until the hero figures out who is sending them.
11
In a world of magic users where everyone is divided into the 6 eye colours, and the colour of your eyes represents what your powers are. Each colour has an elemental power, can talk to a certain type of creature(Invertebrates, fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, mammals), and has 3 other powers. For example, blue eyes control water, can commune with fish, etc. Everyone in the world has either red, orange, yellow, green, blue or purple eyes. Except for you, you were born with black eyes. Everyone is afraid of what your powers will be, but they should be more worried about the kind of creatures you can talk to…
12
A hero and a villain (and maybe their sidekicks, up to you) trapped in a haunted house or haunted location.
-One is scared so the other comforts them. They are both scared but trying to act like they aren’t. -One doesn’t believe in ghosts, and the other has the power to communicate with them or see them. -Ghosts aren’t real, but one continues to try and freak the other out, who claims they aren’t scared. -Ghost wingman. I need’ d say no more -One gets possessed, so the other has to do the whole ‘kiss to break a curse’ thing to bring them out of it. -The classic Person A thinks ghosts aren’t real so they prank Person B to scare them. Then shit gets real, but person B doesn’t believe person A, thinking its just another prank.
13
“I trusted you! You promised!”
“I kept my promise! I got you your results! Don’t question my methods from a top that high moral horse or yours, especially when the only reason you made a deal with me in the first place was because you were too much of a coward to do what needed to be done!”
14
The local wildfire has been growing out of control, forcing the city to have to evacuate. Suddenly, the villain with water powers shows up to lend a hand to fire fighters.
15
“Tell me hero,” the villain spoke, chains jangling from where they hung on the villains wrists as they walked up to the bars of the jail cell, “If you wanted to skip a press conference, could you?”
“Excuse me?”
“You’re sisters getting married, but your needed for a big event at the hero academy that day. Would you be allowed to attend the wedding? What about if your brother stole a pack of gum. Could you let it slide? Not would you, but could you?”
The hero paused. Could they? They had responsibilities! They had commitments to the city, and to the serving of justice!
The villain laughed at the heros silence, “I may be in jail, but you’re more chained then I’ll ever be,”
16
“So tell me,” the villain drawled, dragging a finger across the heros skin, making them shiver, “what changed your mind?”
17
Hero discovers the villain has a day job. It isnt at all what they expected. (Day care, animal shelter, etc)
18
“What are you going to do if you beat me, and suddenly the city dosent need a hero? What are you going to do if you get hurt and can no longer fight, and the city forgets about you just like all the heros before you? Who will you be when your legacy crumbles under the weight of all those who follow? Will you take up knitting?”
The hero stared unblinking and frozen as the villain took a step forward.
“Sure, your a hero. But what are you without that?”
The villain took another step forward.
“Your nothing, heroism is all you have. That pathetic title you curl up to every night. But without it?” They looked the hero up and down, “Absolutely nothing…”
19
A villain retires from villainy and gets plastic surgery (or simply never showed their face) so they can live a normal life without being recognized. While living their new life, they bump into the hero, and the two start falling for eachother. But the villain is terrified of the hero finding out the truth
20
The hero slammed their front door as quickly as they could, eyes wide, heart pounding.
The villain. The villain was outside their door.
“Well that was rude,”
21
A hero with magic powers, in a world where magic is unheard of. They have always kept their powers a secret, fearing they would be shunned, or tested on. They never use their powers in battle.
One day, while practicing their magic alone in the woods, the villain appears out of nowhere.
Before the hero can explain, the villain asks, “you have powers too?”
22
A hero dies. Or at least, they think they do. The next thing they know they wake up at their own funeral. And the only person there? Is the villain.
23
“The worst part, is you had the nerve to call it love”

So, I made one post a while back about how awesomely feminist the show Wild Kratts was, with how its two main female characters were women of color in engineering and deserving roles of power, female villains who weren’t motivated by spite or quest for youth, etc, but today I wanted to talk about something slightly different, that I’ve wanted to cover for a while now, because I also think it’s very good - and that’s how the show portrays masculinity, in a way that’s really positive!
First, we have our two main characters, Chris and Martin Kratt. Keep in mind these two are basically self-inserts - and there are plenty of creators, especially males, who have used self-insert characters in really scummy ways - all I have to say is Powerpuff Girls reboot and you know exactly what I’m talking about. Even if they weren’t literal self-inserts, male characters, superheroes especially, oftentimes serve the male power fantasy, being just the strong, stoic, all-powerful person so many boys are told they’re supposed to be. I could get into a whole discussion about how the male power fantasy is present even when males are not (ever look through a fashion magazine and wonder why there are so few men? Sure, part of it is that the industry thrives off exploiting women’s insecurities, and men aren’t as concerned for their appearance, but another part of it is so that the guy, looking through it, can feel like he has no competition for these women - there’s a reason so many comedians have jokes about fashion magazines being their sexual awakening as kids. It’s really scummy) but that’s not what this is about. So, the bros had every opportunity to do just that - make themselves these traditional heroes who aren’t actually really good role models, like batman or what have you. It’s certainly not uncommon for celebrity cartoons to do stuff like that. But Martin and Chris chose a different approach. They’re pretty strong standouts for positive masculinity. They’re openly affectionate - both with eachother as brothers, and with their friends. They cry, sometimes over little things - most of the time when big superheroes cry, it’s ‘cause they lost the girl they loved or their mentor or something like that, only in the big, most agonizing moments do they shed a tear. But here, Chris or Martin will cry just because they’ve had a bad day, or because they’re overwhelmed and overjoyed that someone named a mantis after them! In a lot of shows or movies when a guy cries over something little, it’s usually played for laughs, or to emasculate him, but here it’s casual without being unreasonable or overdone. The brothers cry just ad much, maybe even more (haven’t gone back and counted or anything) as the girls do. Not to mention, it’s a very nice depiction of a loving, healthy sibling relationship. As the youngest sibling myself, it’s refreshing to see a pair who don’t abuse eachother with noogies or cruel and snarky remarks. When they do fight, it’s never a screaming match, and also because they had a conflict of interest or disagreed over a fact, not because, say, one of them stole the other’s shirt or is neglecting the other’s feelings. Kids, being very impressionable, get exposed to a lot of abusive sibling relationships played as normal in media, and start thinking this is how siblings are and should act. For instance, my sister (who is now my best friend and has gotten over all these bad habits over time) when she was younger watched a lot of Kim Possible, a show that is great, but has a bad family dynamic with Kim and her little siblings. The “tweebs” as she calls them are always irresponsible, destructive, and making Kim annoyed to no end. My older brother was one of the most polite, reserved, kind little kids, but she still treated him like he was a brat and a nuisance, because that’s what shows like Kim Possible taught her little brothers were. Additionally, I was always treated like a spoiled crybaby who just wanted attention and got away with everything - I was not any of those things, ever, but that’s what shows teach you little sisters are. Sure, Wild Kratts has a smidge of that, with Chris seemingly being the stereotype of the know-it-all little sibling, but instead of being constantly looked town upon for being too “perfect” like with Hailey Long in American Dragon, Martin often praises his brother for his abilities. Sure, Martin gets annoyed when Chris tries to correct him on things, like in the episode Wolf Hawks, but everyone else does too, so it feels more like a take-down of mansplaining than a sibling spat.
I talked too in the feminist post about how refreshing it is that Chris and Martin more or less willingly put themselves under the authority of Koki and Aviva, two women of color. I don’t think it’s possible to say any one character is the “leader,” they all work as a evenly balanced team, but it’s safe to say that Koki and Aviva make the more responsible decisions. The bros try to get out of their calls a few times, but the show plays it more like they’re being irresponsible, and less like they’re renegade cool dudes who don’t take nothing from nobody, especially not two girls. They are pretty much always punished via karma for their reckless choices, most especially in To Touch a Hummingbird, where their arrogant attitudes blow up in their faces rather spectacularly. We also never see the narrative most present in sitcoms, where the male leads mess up and go out of their way to cover it up and ultimately gets away with it - after all, you have to root for them, right, because sure they messed up and had no consequences, but aren’t they just so lovable? No, here Martin and Chris always have to fix their wrongdoing, and it’s always deserved when they get comeuppance. Another aspect of the show I like is that, many times, when the bros get captured or are in peril, they are saved by the women - and most refreshing of all, there’s never a moment of “wink wink nudge nudge wow I can’t believe I had to be rescued by a GIRL” or even “wow you saved me you’re pretty good honey guess I shouldn’t have underestimated you, you go girl!” No, when the girls save them, it’s just - you know, relief? Because they were saved? It’s never a scenario played as an exception, or any more dire than when the bros need to rescue eachother. The bros are genuinely happy to have them as teammates. The show even did the standard “boys vs girls” episode in the form of When Fish Fly - but instead of being actually girls vs. boys, it’s engineers vs. adventurers. There’s nothing really gendered about it - the girls happen to be engineers, and the boys happen to be adventurers. And the episode doesn’t end with the boys being “wow gosh darn I shouldn’t have doubted you girls are better at everything,” it’s a mutual agreement that both parties have hard jobs. Basically, the bros are very naturally respectful of women. That plays more into their feminist narrative too, but either way, it’s refreshing.
Then, we have Jimmy! Jimmy, the lovable gamerboy pizza man. At first glance Jimmy seems like the stereotypical cowardly, pathetic, emasculated loser. He’s frightened of most things, as of yet has no power suit, and he BAKES for crying out loud! But none of these things are framed as terribly bad traits. Sure, we laugh when he screams and runs from an animal, but though it happens over and over, the crew doesn’t get sick of it. They don’t berate him or belittle him because he’s so gosh darn cowardly. There’s a great scene in Rattlesnake Crystal where Jimmy has to deliver something to the bros alone, in the middle of a spooky desert. He is terrified the whole time, sprinting off after he delivers the goods. When Martin and Chris run into him, they don’t laugh at him for being spooked, they just greet and then bid fair well to their friend. To them, this is just Jimmy, and there’s nothing wrong with it. Jimmy isn’t coddled, but he is reassured many times that he’s a valuable member of the team. I love that little message, that you’re just as important of a person even if you can’t do as much or have greater limits. When his friends do try to get him over his fears, it’s not because they have to, that the day will somehow be ruined by Jimmy’s incompetence p, but because they’re his friends, and want him to experience fun and wonderful things that he would otherwise miss out on. But what Jimmy CAN do is just as important! Jimmy is a gamer, which in a lot of shows, is portrayed as a lazy, useless, mindless hobby. But here, because he plays video games, it makes him essential for piloting the ship and teleporting important items. There’s always the joke that video games improves your hand/eye coordination, but recent studies have shown it has much better effects. It can make you much better at keeping track of multiple moving objects and processing technical but variable information- two traits which, fittingly enough, are really really important for air traffic controllers and airplane pilots! He also demonstrates a lot more courage behind the wheel of the Tortuga, which makes sense - in an impersonal setting, he would have more sense of calm and control and courage, because it’s so similar to a video game world. It’s not all too different with how I feel more emboldened to pick fights with people on the internet, but get crazy anxious if a real person so much as looks at me. So Jimmy’s love of video games isn’t because he’s irresponsible, it has real benefits. A quick last point - Jimmy also eats a lot, but they thankfully don’t make him fat or greedy or anything like that. He never takes food from people, he actually bakes, and shares it with others! Having the baker be a boy is a lovely touch.
I might do another post about the toxic masculinity of the two villains, (or four villains, I guess, if I wanna discuss the minions) but I’ve got other work to do, and this post is long enough already, so I’ll get around to it later. I’ll sum it up with this - Wild Kratts is a show that teaches boys it’s not only ok to be kind, but essential. The brothers protect defenseless animals, advocate for things “icky” and “weird,” like bugs or snakes or worms - not because they’re boys, and boys like icky things, but because they genuinely see the beauty in all life, and are encouraging us to slow down and do the same. The Wild Kratts are heroes who save the world not by being the strongest or smartest or coolest, but by looking after those who are exploited and vulnerable, who are essential to the world, even if they can’t always do everything. In Wild Kratts the only weaknesses a man can have isn’t what he can’t do, but what he does do that he shouldn’t have. Sure, it’s a cute show about two funny guys who have cool powers, but it’s also a show about accountability, compassion, respect and trust. The show says “boys will be boys” in all the right ways - Martin is a lovable goof with a heart of gold, but he still has to get his act together when he messes up, and he’s still creative and smart and openly sensitive. Chris is a bit of a know-it-all show-off, but he can also mess up as much as his brother, and is still bold, brave, adventurous, and can put his money where his mouth is. Jimmy is a cowardly, napping, eating machine video-gamer, but he’s still a valued member of the team, has incredible skills and talents, and will always help his friends, even if he is really, really scared. It is so important to have role models like these, in a world dominated by unhealthy machismo. The Wild Kratts are heroes who save the world - both animated, and real.
All they need now is a canon queer character, and I’ll stan them forever! My money’s on Aviva!!

Out of curiosity, where are Jason and Tim in your HTTYD AUs ??
I might ask @stxleslyds to help me with some ideas for Jason and Tim since she came up with a great storyline idea for Damian in this AU. (Tati, do you remember when we were talking about this AU ages ago 😆.)
I would possibly keep Jason dead in this story. Bruce would have adopted Jason in a similar way to the comics. He would have found Jason trying to steal stuff from his ship, and Bruce would have seen potential in Jason's skills since, y'know, Vikings are all about raiding and plundering and conquering and what not. He would take him in and teach him the ways of the Vikings.
Jason would eventually have been killed by a Joker dragon. This would add to Bruce's reasons for hating dragons so much.
Maybe I would include Jason as an adult in this AU, but I don't think I would have him as an ally.
With Tim... hm. Maybe Tim would have lived somewhere in Europe when the Vikings invaded his home country, and Tim would have stowed away on Bruce's ship and gained favor with him by telling him an efficient way to kill dragons or something. Or maybe he would already start off as a Viking and would push himself into Bruce's life after Jason's death by following Bruce around.
I think Tim could potentially fill Astrid's role in this in some ways. Tim could be the one to discover Damian with dragon!Dick, and since Tim is anti-dragon as well as anti-Damian, he would want to tell Bruce about it. Damian and Dick would change his mind by doing the whole flying thing.
I don't think I would have Tim be all buddy-buddy with Damian, but I do think he'd be interested in learning dragon "tricks" like the grass trick, scratching in a certain spot, the fear of eels, etc. Would Damian be willing to teach that stuff to him is another question lmao.
I do think Dick would be fond of Tim and vice versa (which Damian would be jealous about).
"Oh, so now you want the fish I caught for you. You certainly seemed more interested in what Timothy had to give you yesterday."
Anyways, I'm not thinking too much out of the box here so I'm sure there are other ideas that would work really well for Jason and Tim.

Brothers as Mythical creatures with a shape shifting MC
(I love mythical creatures and thought it would be fun to image the brothers as them! and with a shape shifting MC so they could turn into the same species as them) Note: For some Species, they have a monster form and a human like form Such as for Mammon and levi, etc
Warning: some nsfw/suggestive , gore (if it’s not gore, tell me what would be a better word to use ^^)
Lucifer
-He would be gorgon  -Would often be within his cave alone until he saw you  -He assumed you were there to steal his treasures -But you showed no signs as a threat , especially when you shift to be a gorgon as well to make him at ease -He still doesn’t really trust you but is willingly to cooperate a little -you bond over time and now he refuses to let you out of his slight fearing for your safely (completely forgot she can shape shift )  -His snakes tend to give away how he feels if he tries to hide it  -If he gets flustered his snakes curl up  -You enjoy his company so you stay often with him  -It’s nice to have someone to talk to ..”He would always smile with you
Mammon
-He would be a dragon  -He would have a cave full of items, it doesn’t matter, food, cloths, valuables, treasures, you  name it, he’ll have it  -The second you enter, he’s very territorial  -You calm him down easily by offering some gold coins  -He immediately is friendly but will snap if you get close to his goods -you turn into a dragon as well to calm his nerves kinda -He surprisingly grew attached to you fast and claims you now as one of his items  -He won’t let you leave unless he’s there with you  - He’ll be whiny if you don’t give him attention -”hey! you’re mine and mine only...so stay here..”
Levi
-He would be a Loch Ness Monster  -He’s very good at hiding and finding things that humans left behind  -He gets very scared when you find him but you keep your distance -You shift into a loch ness yourself  -Levi freezes up but eventually excited “Y-you’re like me?! I thought i was the only one!” -you didn’t have the heart to tell him you were a shapeshifter, so you left that for another time  -He assumed that you could just have an ability to turn human  -You would bring him stuff *cough*anime*cough**cough* -You loved to see him so excited when he got your gifts -”I’m so lucky to have someone like you!”
Satan
-He would be a were-cat (surprise surprise-) -He appears as a normal human when you meet him -He takes interest in you when you both meet at a library  -He gets a little flirty with you after a while but you notice...strange habits  -You notice how he has cat like traits, Like licking his hand to rub on his head or when he hisses at dogs -you only think he just likes being a cat..until one faithful night -Satan talks you somewhere, where you’re both alone -”MC...I trust you ...so please don’t be scared” Then the full moon shows himself and it happens. -His body shifts and he groans which turns more into meowing  -As it stops, he’s still there but in an appearance of a were cat -” I Hope this isn’t too much..” -you smile as you reveal yourself as a shapeshifter and reassure him  -he could only smile “no wonder i seemed attracted..we’re both freaks of nature..~”
Asmo
-He would be a Satyr -He often flirts with anyone who enters the forest he lived in -One day, you entered to only explore and you for sure caught his eye  -He just adores you since you’re so beautiful, but not as beautiful as him  -he likes to talk about how soft is hair/fur is and you would listen , he loved to have a listener -Once you revealed to be a shape shifter, he was really interested now  -he wants to get frisky with you and was curious of what you could do , he of course won’t if you’re uncomfortable  -after a sensual night, he grew closer to you and felt comfort with you  -He’d be sad when you had to leave , even though he knows you’ll be back soon -He actually avoids some people just so he can have more time with you  -always excited when you come back -”there you are ,my golden apple~”
Beel
-He would be a Wendigo  -You entered a cold forest and could hear eating  -you approach and see a giant man , he seemed to be eating...a human? -hearing you steps, he turns toward you with a human head in his mouth  -you seem unfazed , for you have seen bloody images before -He seemed he wanted to attack but he sensed no fear in you , so he inspects you  -He dawns closer to you and sniffs , his cold white eyes staring at you  -Then you shift into a wendigo yourself , he’s taken back a bit  -he’s a little less dense , he stares and then goes back to his meal  -he even offered you  a little but you had to refused because you would never go as far as eat  a human  -he would only makes noises, he wouldn’t talk unless he wasn’t able to .. -after a while , he gets ready to leave and looks at you , as in he’s waitning for you to join  -that left you a little confused but he muttered faintly  “c-come....with ...” -you weren’t sure if you should but,, it was a lttle hard to say no, so you took his offer and followed him in the woods
Belphie
-He would be a siren (hush i thought it would be cool-) -you heard beautiful singing  -you loved it’s sound but was cautious since you’re aware of who or what is capable of singing like that  -you entered a cavern and see a beautiful man sitting on a rock, you only saw the upper half of him  -he was singing beautifully  -then after a few minutes, he falls onto the rock  -you were worried so , you headed over, only to find out he was asleep... -you found as well, a fish tail at his bottom half, no wonder the singing drew you, he was a siren  -after a moment, he awoke and you froze , you never dealt with a siren before since their singing doesn’t effect you  -He was slightly interested but he looked sleepy  -You decided to shift into a siren form , but he lost interest   -you changed back and he questioned you  -”what on earth are you..?” -” Oh I’m a Shape Shifter “ -”hm...you’ll be fun to play with..~~”
(hope you enjoyed ! Sorry i used soo many greek monsters- I’m a greek freak- Send more suggestions for more scenrios!)

Tell me about the urban legends/ cryptid tales that surround ~~The Dragon Master~~
These may sound a little lame (or maybe they don't, honestly depends on your tastes) but I had fun thinking all of these up. Hopefully, you enjoy them as well, Anon!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
During Hiccup's time:
1. He can breathe fire like a dragon.
2. He can understand dragons through magic. Like, actually understand them. And not because he is just observant, empathic, and emotionally smart enough to understand what a dragon may be feeling and why.
3. He has some sort of control over dragons. He also defeated the Red Death solely because it refused to fall in line.
4. Some tales state he IS the Night Fury he's often associated with.
5. You don't want to mess with him because he can and will kick your ass. (due to defeating the Red Death, Drago, etc.)
6. He's a runt and "naturally" should've died as a young boy. The fact that he didn't is proof that he's actually immortal somehow. (Definitely not because he makes Death weep for his refusal to go out) (The Dragon Riders honestly feel inclined to believe this, too, with everything Hiccup magically survives unharmed.)
7. He is an actual dragon in human flesh. (Really doesn't help that he can canonically walk through fire, too.)
8. He has an army of dragons and the intention to use it. (this coming from enemies, most likely)
9. He was born in a fire.
After Hiccup:
1. He can still breath fire.
2. Some sort of mythical protector of dragons, no longer seen as just human. After all, how can a normal human being face a dragon the size of a volcano and not only beat it, but live to tell the tale? That’s the stuff of fairytales and sagas.
3. If you experience some bad luck (for example, bad crop, an accident, bad catch) and the cause is dragon related, you've upset Hiccup somehow and need to leave a bowl of fish outside on your doorstep for his dragons. Offer up eels and you're basically asking for trouble.
4. In the North, he may be seen as a figure that brings prosperity, even luck in war. (due to how Berk actually seemed to thrive because of him and how it is Hiccup (and Toothless) that ended the 300+ years of the Dragon Scourge) Further away from this Archipelago, he may be seen as a more negative figure, he may be a little demonized. (Or a lot. Just like how there are cultures that revere dragons and those that fear them and see them as something that needs to be slain)
5. Often depicted with fire (whether this is fire that brings light and warmth or fire that brings destruction depends on the place and whether they see him as bad or good) And either with dragon wings or surrounded by dragons. Also, a non-human face. (due to the helmet)
6. He's a trickster type of figure, due to his ability to outsmart his foes.
7. His father was a Viking Chief and his mother a dragon.
8. If you see a pack of dragons traveling high up in the sky, they are meeting with him on Dragon Island.
9. If you decide to dedicate your life to dragons, he is one of the figures you look up to (and learn about) the most.
Way, Waaaayyy after Hiccup (like, think modern time)
1. One "out there" tale suggests Hiccup created the dragons.
2. Another suggests Hiccup changed the dragons so that they survive this human world as the animals we know today. (Hence why dragons have such similarities to "real" animals)
3. He was a man that could turn into a dragon.
4. There are absolutely internet posts out there memeing about and thirsting for the Dragon Master. Tons of fanart, too.
5. Sightings of dragons are often attributed to him. (In a modern world without dragons, these sightings may be seen as him checking to see if humanity is “ready yet”.)
6. There are art depictions of him in his region of birth, too.
7. Seen by some as a figure of myth, seen by others as a legend, seen by some others as a cryptid that’s still around waiting to be captured on camera.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sadly, I couldn’t think of any more at the current moment. It’s late and I was getting tired.
Basically, during or after (or waaaay after) Hiccup's time, he's very heavily associated with dragons. Weither he is seen as their protector, as one of them, or both. Also, they don't know him as Hiccup. Obviously, he is the Dragon Master.
Some of these work for a world with dragons and some for a world without them.

𝐏𝐄𝐎𝐏𝐋𝐄   𝐈'𝐃   𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐄   𝐓𝐎   𝐆𝐄𝐓   𝐓𝐎   𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖   𝐁𝐄𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐑   : 𝟎𝟏 .    𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐀𝐒  /  𝐍𝐀𝐌𝐄   :   my penname is jo, after jo from little women, who was a huge role model for me growing up. she is my goddamn  Q U E E N. my real name i’m not too enthused by so irl i go by an array of nicknames, which also includes jo, so technically it’s a penname and a real name. 𝟎𝟐 .    𝐁𝐈𝐑𝐓𝐇𝐃𝐀𝐘   :    february 24. 𝟎𝟑 .    𝐙𝐎𝐃𝐈𝐀𝐂  𝐒𝐈𝐆𝐍   :     pisces. i’m a FUCKING FISH. 𝟎𝟒 .    𝐇𝐄𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓   :     5′8″ and a half. i’m a tol gorl. 𝟎𝟓 .    𝐇𝐎𝐁𝐁𝐈𝐄𝐒   :     writing, procrastinating, horseback riding, reading, making my friends smile, editing, baking, cosplaying, sewing, crafting, collecting miscellaneous things. i.e., star wars funko characters, action figures, comic books, plushies, etc. i’m a grown ass woman who loves her some plushies, COME AT ME. 𝟎𝟔 .    𝐅𝐀𝐕𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐄  𝐂𝐎𝐋𝐎𝐔𝐑  :  i’m a bitch who can’t choose. i fucking love teal, black, soft green, and pastel pink. those are the color combos which are chef’s kiss. 𝟎𝟕 .    𝐅𝐀𝐕𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐄  𝐁𝐎𝐎𝐊   :     it varies, but for now i’ll go with a storm of swords, which is the third book in a song of ice and fire and was a book that goddamn destroyed me. i finished that book in, i think, four days because i couldn’t put it down.  𝟎𝟖 .    𝐋𝐀𝐒𝐓  𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐆  :    montero by lil nas x, which is a fucking BOP. 𝟎𝟗 .    𝐋𝐀𝐒𝐓  𝐅𝐈𝐋𝐌  /  𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐖  :   for show that would be iron fist, because my dad just started watching it and he likes watching those shows with me ( since i can answer most marvel based questions ). and film wise that would have to be snyder’s cut: justice league, which is a fucking masterpiece and i have sobbed and obsessed uncontrollably over it. 𝟏𝟎 .    𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐏𝐈𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍  :   so back in either 2014 or 2015, i started writing this little story about rhaenys targaryen for no other reason than i wanted to, because i had always loved the idea of “ what if [ blank ] never died ? ? ? ” when it came to fictional and historical figures, and the character just always stuck with me.  particularly, i saw a picture of naomi scott and knew she was rhaenys. but i didn’t understand role-play culture at the time and naomi didn’t have any resources in that era, so i just stuck to my fanfics and used her face as my fun little story cover. but my character and plot-based inspiration for rhaenys stems a lot from history. one of my favorite historical eras is actually the romanovs in 1918, as well as the mythos surrounding anastasia’s alleged survival ( which was debunked in 2007, i believe ). i grew up watching the 1997 animated film, so those ideas definitely influenced my portrayal of rhaenys, minus the amnesia. certain aspects of anya’s character exist in rhaenys’, such as her no-nonsense attitude, her level of sass, and her wit. but in terms of historical impact, the romanov duchesses weren’t actually treated like princesses and didn’t have the most high-end lifestyles that we translate to royalty in modern day. and furthermore, i take into account general royal life also translated from the tudor dynasty, such as in how unpredictable and often life-threatening princess elizabeth the i’s childhood was, as she was often subject to banishment and being hyper-aware as to her friends and enemies at court. despite the glamorous nature of princesses, which are details which translate more in rhaenys’ verses where rhaegar lives and becomes king and she is a princess in king’s landing. but it also has an impact on her views in her default verse where she’s trying to avenge her family and reclaim the iron throne. but also on a similar historical note, i draw a lot of rhaenys’ ptsd, her general trauma, and her fear of madness from soldiers, which i’ve gathered from various film, book, and real-life portrayals on people who have fought in wars. in the books, rhaenys is killed at three years old, so in my portrayal she is saved at three. i don’t know how many people have met three year olds, but i have an array of nieces and nephews, and i can assure you that three year olds remember the hell out of shit. they forget nothing. so while rhaenys does not have entirely vivid memories of her past and what escaping king’s landing was like, the same way someone older would remember something traumatic, she does recall those smaller details which exist as nightmares and echoes, and there are triggers which ignite them. and there’s also the idea of survivor’s guilt ... basically, i could go on for hours over the various inspirations which have helped me craft rhaenys, and i might make a giant ass post of every single influence one day, but the gist is: rhaenys is a melting pot of historical, personal, and fictional based influence. and me being gay for naomi scott since 2014/2015.
𝟏𝟏 .    𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑  𝐁𝐄𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐃  𝐔𝐑𝐋  :   so i knew that i wanted to have DRAGON and PRINCESS in my url, but i wanted it to sound unique and, sighs, pretentiously poetic and ~ aesthetic ~. so i went to google translate and i basically went through these words in various languages until i found a translation which felt right for what i was looking for. i am 87% sure that i settled on latin for both and combined the two, but i can’t remember and, tbh, i lack the energy to fact check. i’m tired, okay ? ? ?
𝐓𝐀𝐆𝐆𝐄𝐃   𝐁𝐘   :   i lost who tagged me and i’ve tried to look through my notifications but i lost it and i’m so sorry, i am THE WORST. 𝐓𝐀𝐆𝐆𝐈𝐍𝐆   :   @radishflower, @gevivella, @thebcstofus, @kinginthcsouth, @stormbcrn, @artificiallyimplantedmemories, @rcsegilded, @ncrthernkxng

9, 10, 12, 19, 20, 21 for the fandom asks! (i'm gonna create the question for 21. it is "which fandoms have you inadvertently become a part of through osmosis from friends?" or "which fandoms did you infect your friends with?" whoops two questions, whatever. enjoy, nerdface. my specialty is being a nosy fucker with too many questions)
Love you too, you obnoxious fucker. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
Fandom Asks Memes
9. Do you like prequels?
I find absolutely nothing wrong with prequels! My philosophy is that, for any universe that can be cleverly and beautifully expanded upon with heart, doing so is a positive effect. The key to this is that it has to be done with inspiration and good intent. Crappy prequels that have nothing to say are bogus. Good prequels that provide a positive contribution? Yeah, sure, totes, go for it. I’d be interested in checking them out.
There’s lots of inherent dangers to writing prequels that mean some of them can be crappy. But I’ll enthusiastically endorse any contribution to media so long as I think it holds merit to its existence in the broader franchise.
10. Characters that deserved worse? >:]
I don’t believe in “deserves worse” for real life humans, so I think about that even less when we’re talking fiction. So long as it’s written well narratively, I’m fine with villains getting away with anything, antiheroes not being reprimanded for questionable actions, etc.
That said. Watching FMA 2003? I fucking wanted Shou Tucker fucking dead 3,000,000,000 episodes ago. WHY DID YOU GUYS KEEP HIM ALIVE!?!?!?! UAHGHGHGHGHGHghghghghghghg. Every time he was on screen, I was seethingly thinking, “I want that motherfucking thing dead, I am so sick of seeing him on screen.”
12. If you could change one ending to a book/show/game/etc, what would you change about it?
Alright! Let’s see. Can we call “The Hidden World” the “ending” of the broad How to Train Your Dragon franchise? I don’t want to change just the end of HTTYD3; I want to change HTTYD3. I would write a movie in which the villain had more apparent impact to the world around him, I would focus on Toothless having leadership problems with the dragons as a whole rather than centering a plot around him and one female, I would write Hiccup interacting with more sense of leadership over the whole tribe instead of hanging out merely with his group of young buds, and I would axe (intentional choice of words) the will-we-won’t-we subplot regarding Hiccstrid and marriage. For starters.
19. If you could be a part of any story, which story would you want to tag along in?
Take me to Narnia.
20. Name a song that reminds you heavily of a specific fandom or character.
Mars by Sleeping at Last. It describes the Ishvalan War, the fear of the Ishvalans, and the young Amestrian soldiers like Roy, Maes, Alex, and Riza who found themselves, to their horror, on the wrong end of a genocide.
“We were full of life. We could barely hold it in. We were amateurs at war, strangers to suffering. We made our families proud but scared at the same time. We promised we'd be safe--another lie from the front lines. Our backs against the wall, we're surrounded and afraid, our lives now in the hands of the soldiers taking aim. Our questions ricochet like broken satellites... how our bodies, born to heal, become so prone to die.”
21a. Which fandoms have you inadvertently become a part of through osmosis from friends?
How dare you ask me two 21′s. ;)
I’m not sure on this one. Maybe Doctor Who. In high school, a bunch of my friends invited me over for a movie night. Well, when I got there, they were cooking a bunch of foods. They decided to watch The Eleventh Hour, and when it came time for the Doctor to try eating a bunch of foods, my friends started eating fish fingers and custard, like some sort of fucking ritual. And I was like, “What the HECK is happening?!?!” My friends had been talking about how great this show was. This was my first exposure to it. Over the next few years, I did get a bit into Doctor Who, and followed it through the first half of college. XD
Also in the junior high, I had multiple friends who talked about Runescape so frequently that, even though I never even saw a SCREENSHOT of the game, I knew so much about it that I was able to follow along and contribute to their convos. Never played Runescape though.
21b. Which fandoms did you infect your friends with?
[cackles] now that one? quite a ton!
I don’t mean to. I hate people coming up to me and saying, “You should watch X!” or “You NEED to watch Y!” I don’t like being judged for my tastes instead of letting me decide my own taste. I have so many things I already want to watch and I don’t want someone else trying to change my priorities around, even if I know they’re just trying to recommend something fun to me. I don’t have time for these things and I don’t want people assuming that I have time for those things. I’ll never get to anything someone says. I don’t like recommendations. Especially after this tumblr blog got big and I got a ton of unsolicited recommendations, it became a pet peeve. So I try hard not to force friends to watch anything. I don’t want to annoy them either with unsolicited recs. I want to be nice. <3 But I guess my natural, unending enthusiasm for things has gotten my friends curious and pulled into the same fandoms I love. XD XD XD Whoops! XD XD XD XD XD One second I’m screaming about a fandom... the next, three of my friends are screaming to me about it, too!
I have seen groups of friends follow me into...... Undertale, Voltron: Legendary Defender, Mass Effect, Deponia, Gravity Falls, and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. And I guess also bluegrass. If that can count as a “fandom.”
