Since mando s3 comes out tomorrow, it's probably a good time to remind y'all that none of the legends stuff is canon to it.
Now you'd think the fact that these works don't apply to a TV show made years after they were officially declared non canon (not that they canon to the movies/tcw anyways) would be simple to grasp, but no, I still see constant mention of Jaster the mandalore, the true mandalorians, the war between the true/new/death watch mandos, etc etc in context of the Mandalorian
Speaking of which
Factions:
There are only two major mandalorian factions in canon, the death watch and New Mandalorians, the true mandalorians are not a faction, because they're legends, they do not exist in Lucas SW, their source means they do not apply to didney SW/didney eu, and they are not mentioned in canon/canon eu, ergo they do not exist
And the NM/DW were not rival factions (and honestly calling them "factions" is a bit of a misnomer, they'd be better described as coalitions since they themselves are compromised of a number of groups/factions) in the Civil War, the New Mandalorians existed during the war, but they weren't so much a faction fighting in the war as they were a political reform movement born in respone TO it, the war was largely fought between different clans/alliances of clans for control/power, the New Mandalorians' rise to power came not from conquest, but from a movement of Mandalorian people and groups (including warrior clans) sick of the self destructive, authoritarian, violent old ways, and wanting change, would rally around Satine Kryze
The death watch is a reactionary regressive movement of mando conservatives angry that they lost the war and appalled that they can't be violent murderers anymore who determine who's in charge by fighting to the death, and they insist that this adherence to the "old ways" makes them "real mandalorians"
And that brings me to something else
What makes someone a "true mandalorian" in canon?
As I said, the "true mandalorian" faction does not exist in canon, but you will still here different mandos throw around the phrase(s) "true/real mandalorian", this is a case of the "no true scotsman" fallacy, every mandalorian considers themselves/their group as being the "right" way to be a mandalorian and anyone who doesn't follow that way is wrong and ergo is not a mandalorian, and the only ones who don't buy into this nonsense are the New Mandalorians because they're the only adults in the room and realize it's all really stupid
And lastly we have Jaster, much like with the broader history of mandalorians, I see people attributing Jaster's legends biography to his canon incarnation, when-as we have already established-legends would have no bearing on canon, because they are two different universes (and also Jaster's only "appearance" is in a canon show, made years after the legends stuff was pushed aside)
The canon facts of Jaster are:
He exists
He's Jango's adopted father
That's it, he doesn't even appear in person or is mentioned by name, his "appearance" and existence in canon is down to a quick Easter egg in another language
Now elements of his legends story could become canon, but I want to stress, THAT WOULD NOT MAKE THE LEGENDS SOURCES CANON, because that's another thing I notice, "new SW content makes a nod to or recanonizes something from legends? Fans start thinking that makes a legends thing canon", and that's not how it works, things from legends can be brought over, but they are being/will be retold in a new way for canon, the version made for canon is the canon version

So I ran into your thoughts on the Beginning, and as far as the timeline goes, I think Lui (like Menoa) is wrong. The JP Chosen are clearly different from the World chosen. Only they are summoned to the Digiworld. I think Lui's wish via homeostasis just made it so that non-Chosen children would get Digivices to be able to maintain partnerships, and they were modeled after the original digivice, and began popping up after Adventure. But when new chosen were needed in 02, they got new digivices.
That's an interesting idea! Apologies, I wish I could be more helpful, but I only saw The Beginning once, and I spent most of it reeling and not taking much in (I didn't respond well to certain plot elements).
I personally find it difficult to make conclusions about "our Japanese Chosen (Taichi and Daisuke's groups) vs the rest of the Chosen around the world," because to my knowledge, we don't receive a lot of details about the global Chosen and what they can and cannot do.
We know Michael Barton and Betamon can go to the Digital World, so I do think all global Chosen can travel to the DW. But does that mean that all global Chosen were selected by Homeostasis? Or are they a second category generated by Lui's wish in The Beginning, and they have partners, can presumably evolve them to some extent, and can travel to the DW, but were not hand selected warriors of the DW? But I really doubt The Beginning's plot beats and lore existed when Adventure and 02 were being written and created, so at best, this is back-filling information. A lot depends on how each viewer feels about adding the information of the new films into their understanding of the old content, or if viewers prefer to let the old content stand alone and treat the new content as fun extras that don't really impact their feelings/understanding of the old content.
I personally haven't assigned much weight to Kizuna or The Beginning for lore, simply because it feels like they wrote around existing lore to make these plots work with existing information. In my mind, that is why both plots hinge on Menoa and Lui being "wrong" about various Lore Important Issues, while details from the original series point us to what most fans see as the "correct" interpretation, with a little bit of subtext from the new films.
I'm not saying that this is bad or wrong, or that people are incorrect for folding the new content into existing lore. In fact, I think a lot of anime movies especially rely on similar write-around methods! Basically, I just think a lot is going to come down to personal preference with what to accept and what to ignore, especially because it's just a LOT of content at this point (two 50+ episode animes, the handful of Digimon movies released in the 2000s ish, Tri, Kizuna, The Beginning, various drama CDs and novels, etc).
This does make me realize that I could really stand a rewatch of the World Tour and the ending of 02. Makes sense that there could be relevant info about the global Chosen there! And I believe the ending of 02 is where we get our most direct (aka non subtext) lore about what makes the Chosen/partner bond work.
Thanks for the ask, your ideas are very interesting and I enjoy hearing them!

I know I already asked for a harbinger headcanon srry :< But I gotta know what would happened if you mixed Cookie Run and the Harbingers sksksksk. You don’t have to make it ofc! Whether it’s them playing the game or being a cookie or even not making the headcanon is totally up to you! I just gotta say I rlly like your work!
Hey dw about requesting multiple times, I’m happy to do these!
I kinda feel like cookie-ifying them, so here we go
Pierro:
Ok so we don’t know much about Khaenri’ahn food
But I think flowers suit him well
I’d make him a petunia cookie
Why? Well, petunias once symbolized anger and resentment
So like how he feels about Celestia and the archons
Nowadays some of the meaning has been lost, but I think that works with how Teyvat has moved on on the surface
However, there’s still a lasting effect from the tragedy
He also wouldn’t go by petunia cookie, since that’s not super intimidating
So I’m gonna give him “jester cookie”
He would definitely take some bitter amusement in the irony
Capitano:
Another flower guy
I’m giving him poppies, since those are traditionally used to remember fallen soldiers
He also wouldn’t go by his ingredient name, bc poppies aren’t very intimidating
So he would be something like “captain cookie” or “warrior cookie”
He has definitely lost soldiers on the battlefield, so I think poppies are fitting
Maybe he even lost some of himself on the battlefield too…
Since most of his appearance is hidden, you wouldn’t be able to tell poppies are his ingredient
But if I were to design his cookie clothes, I would place poppies on his uniform
Hm maybe I will design them all
Dottore:
Biryani cookie
Why? I feel like he would like the food, next question
God I want biryani
Anyway! I think the fact that you can add different ingredients to biryani fits him well
So like prime can be kolkata biryani, one of the clones can be sindhi biryani, etc etc
Idk it just suits him
He would go by smth like heretic cookie, doctor cookie, or even his actual name
It depends on the segment
The segments would also have ingredient substitutions to emphasize the “wrong” nature of them
Plus mechanical parts
Columbina:
So she’s a mystery for sure
But I would call her “seelie cookie”
Nobody knows her ingredients
But some believe she was baked from food directly made in the Teyvat equivalent of the fae wilds
I’m a big fan of fae/seelie columbina
Some wonder if she’s even a cookie at all
Personally, I think she would be a sugar cookie made from special or magical sugar, or even a very light cake, like chiffon
Regardless, she isn’t a normal cookie
I think she and angel cookie would get along lmao
Arlecchino:
Oof she’s another hard one, since we don’t know much about her
Gonna call her ice shard cookie
She’s a sharp and stern character, so she would be made of something harsh
Like the cold bite of winter
No she is not anything like the Tsaritsa
But she is still a force to be reckoned with
She would actually go by her ingredient name, bc fuck code names
If she must, she would be called “knave cookie”
She’s one of the few I actually have ideas for their skill so
She would use an icicle as a fencing sword
Similar to raspberry cookie, but I feel like arle would be an ambush and target the opponent with the least amount of HP
Maybe do some aoe frost damage
Pulcinella:
He’s a hard one, but kasha cookie
Kasha is a healthy, hearty grain dish, like oatmeal, but even more grain
If that makes sense
Partially bc it’s a health food for older people (sorry nella /lh)
But also partially because it’s sturdy and stable
Idk it just makes sense to me since he’s a government official that seems to do his job well
I just felt it calling to me
This is what happens when you do too much research for fanfics lmao, you remember foods you have never once seen in your home country
He would go by kasha cookie. No code name necessary, unless he truly must. As mayor, his name probably has to be public lmao
I love he
Scaramouche:
Puppet cookie
It’s basic, but like, he wouldn’t have been given another name before
He started out as puppet cookie, was called kabukimono cookie on tatarasuna, then became balladeer cookie
And now, he’s wanderer cookie
He wouldn’t be made with any normal ingredients, bc he’s entirely artificial
I feel like he would be made of wood and ingredient substitutions
Carved and molded into a perfect imitation of a cookie
Another one I actually have skill ideas for
As balladeer cookie, he would have lightning based attacks that just function as dps dmg
As wanderer cookie, he would have air based attacks that do less damage than balladeer, but also debuff enemies and buff allies
Sandrone:
French Sandy is my current religion so
Soufflé cookie
Her perfectionism just suits the food
She would go by “marionette cookie”
No ingredient substitutions here, but she would def still experiment on other cookies
Her attacks would involve puppet strings trapping opponents, dealing damage and debuffing them
Support cookie that can still pack a punch
Signora:
Bringing this back to flower town babyyyyy
Blood rose cookie
If you look up “blood rose flower,” you’ll see a beautiful dark red rose that gives gothic vibes
Honestly my reasoning lies in the name
Roses are romantic, but black roses represent revenge
So blood roses are somewhat a cross between the two
Do you see my vision
She would go by blood rose cookie before the Fatui, but after joining, she would be “fair lady cookie”
I have so many ideas for her design actually, I’m going insane
Pantalone:
Mora cookie /j
For real tho, he was born poor, so…
Millet cookie
Millet is a grain that’s great for protein and key fibers that you need
So an excellent food for someone who can’t access real well-rounded meals
The lower class of ancient China often used millet as a meal
Oh also I should mention that Liyue Pantalone is my other religion
Anyway tho, he would absolutely NOT go by millet cookie
He’d go by golden cookie, or regrator cookie
He would be embarrassed about his lowly origins, wanting to leave it behind
So millet cookie is OUT
Tartaglia:
Borscht cookie
Borscht is common, first of all
Second of all, it’s red, and ginger go brrr
Third of all, it can be served hot or cold, and I think that fits Childe’s personality well
Warm and welcoming around family
Cold and calculating around enemies
Imagine his blades being made out of soup lmao
He wouldn’t go by borscht cookie, since he doesn’t go by Ajax in canon
He would be called shashka cookie, after his weapons
Imagine being so badass you get to go by KNIFE /j
But Fr tho, the only ones who get to call him borscht cookie are his family
He would look so cute as a cookie, I love him
It honestly makes me really happy to get a request combining my two main fandoms. I want people to know that I will happily do headcanons for any of my fandoms, not just genshin. Hell I’ll do other characters besides harbingers too! Ik I made a bit of a name for myself with harbinger headcanons, but I would love to branch out!

As I'm looking at this before I hit send I'm SWEATING this got so long oh my god this is embarrassing. Anyways. I'm a huge fan of the canon rewrite genre rn so I hope you don't mind that most of the fics I'm gonna rec are of that sort, but I promise I do have a couple that aren't! Not in any particular order but I bolded my favorites. Please mind the word counts T-T
where the stars do not take sides
Zuko's mother takes him and runs away from the palace on the night that he's supposed to be killed. She dies, and he spends the next several years hiding in the Earth Kingdom on his own. Enter the Avatar. Also, Azula is... good!
the Blue Spirit and the Warrior
Technically a series, but it hasn't been updated since 2021 and the first fic is phenomenal. Identity porn in Ba Sing Se.
winter solstice: an addendum
Currently an ongoing fic so if that's not something you're interested in then I get it but I feel like I remember you saying you follow ongoing fics so I'm including it anyways. The Gaang bring Zuko with them when they escape Zhao in Book 1 and work through some things with him.
Boomerangs and Rainbows
They leave Zuko in the snow at the North Pole instead of bringing him back. He dies. His ghost haunts Sokka. Genuinely loved this premise and imo the author did it very well. There IS a happy ending dw.
Unpathed Waters, Undreamed Shores
This one. Oh my god. Sokka is a selkie and he gets captured by Zuko's ship before the first episode. Otter penguins as a metaphor for how homosexuality is a naturally occurring phenomenon and also their relationship.
talk too much
Yeah it's about the COIN song. Sokka recognizes Zuko at the tea shop in Ba Sing Se and decides to figure out what he's up to. Copious amounts of "What are we" and a very nice "Nobody says my name like you do."
The Good Vanilla
Post-canon! Cooking IS a love language and YES somebody almost dies <3
(do you take this jerk to be) your one and only
AU where Iroh got the throne instead of Ozai and ended the war early. Zuko and Yue are betrothed. Sokka is pissed, and then he gets tasked with teaching Zuko how to complete the Water Tribe courtship rituals. You can connect the dots.
While Mighty Oaks Do Fall
Ongoing! AU where Zuko is blessed by the Sun when he is born (like Yue with the Moon) and because this freaks Ozai tf out, he gets sent to be a Fire Sage very early on. He's obsessed with the law. Basically a very autistic-coded lawyer at the age of 16 while also helping the Avatar.
twinkothydrake asked:
oh my god i can't believe that whole wall of text sent i'm so SORRY??? i hope that you enjoy them if you ever get the chance to read them fjslkdfsl
this looked so much more intimidating on my phone lmao but i'm definitely reading all of these!!! actually, the ghost one is already in my for later list, so now i need to bump it up.. thank you!!!

oh also i forgot to mention in my last ask, what do the villains do in the au??
u mentioned that ghirahim tries to kill the links and ganon kidnapped him as a baby, is their goal just to take down/assassinate the royal family?
and what about other loz antagonists like vaati or majora or cia or the yiga or-
i’m getting too ahead of myself- no need to answer my questions all at once lmao
Nono dw, they're very good questions !
I was rambling about this to my friend a while ago and they joked about Ganondorf being a kind of mob boss, so I'm going with that kind of idea. It's a bit like how in oot Ganondorf pledges alliance to the royal family, but he plans to betray them and take over Hyrule- he is good friends with people in the government so they excuse his actions. He also pays them to keep quiet and silence victims when things get out of hand.
In this au, the Royal Family and government work hand in hand, so Ganondorf also fakes loyalty to them. His end goal is to break down the people until they're fully at his mercy and not able to fight back, then work his way up to having full power over Hyrule. The Zeldas are the only members of the royal family who can work mostly outside of his radar, which is why they're very significant.
As for the other Zelda antagonists, I feel like they'd be people working under Ganondorf who've sworn their loyalty and he's given them power, wheras the Yiga are basically his fan club who he finds annoying, but uses their loyalty to his advantage. He doesn't care for the Yiga, he mostly prioritises the other loz villains as in the games they play more of a significant role.
Like, Ghirahim and Zant for example; they're basically his sons, he trusts them the most so uses them for the more important tasks, because in sksw and tp the actual characters play more significant roles and are an active threat that shows up to humble the respective Link. But because of that, Ganondorf is constantly comparing them and uses one's achievements to belittle the other, so both of them are seeking his praise and favour, trying to break the other down to be the superior one. Ghirahim was kidnapped because it's a well-known fact that people in that family are typically incredibly smart and talented in their fields so Ganondorf wanted thag on his side. Zant willingly joined after being pissed off for being constantly rejected by everyone and just wanting to join the 'winning team' so that he could flaunt his power to those people.
For Cia, seeing as I'm fairly certain in Hyrule Warriors canon she commands an army and before that was in charge of timeline stuff, I'm gonna say she's a part of the Government overseeing laws and generally what people do. She's also working to train up an army of sorts with loyalty to Ganondorf, but most of them are Yiga Clan. She's grown to despise bananas now...
Ganondorf doesn't really play a huge role in Majora's mask, and there's nothing confirmed about the origins of Majora other than a small spinoff manga, so I'm not entirely sure about Majora's role. But taking inspiration from another modern au- Skyward Floored's incredibles au- maybe Majora could be more of its own thing who just works with Ganondorf as they share ambitions of power and world domination. Majora's more brutal, however, and deals with... enemies of Ganondorf, let's just say. This also has something to do with Time's facial tattoos...
As for Vaati, I'm not too sure about what role he plays in his games so I can't say much for him. But he does have a strong connection with Shadow, who just so happens to be Four's ex boyfriend who went missing.
They're all evil and irredeemable, but some character depth couldn't hurt right-?
Anyways, thank you for the ask !! I didn't mean to ramble for so long but have a nice existence lmao-

Ooooo another Harry Potter fan hiiii!!!! I'm sending this on anon cause we're kinda hated saldy... Though you probably know who I am cause I just liked a bunch of your posts ehehe (woof!)
May I ask who your favorite characters are and maybe what your house is? :')/nf
I'm just really exited to have found another Harry Potter fan- It's not like we're rare, but I feel like a bunch of us are afraid to show our passion atm-
Have a nice day aaaa 💖
HIHI XDD dw i love when ppl spam and show love!! my fave movie char is probs luna lovegood (i havent watched the movies since i was like ten or smthin.. dang i rlly need to rewatch em- but i thought she was cool at the time lolol) my fave howgarts legacy chars are definitely deek and lodgok-while my fave creatures are the graphorn and thestrals >:D
i think my house is most likely ravenclaw based on my personality n such! although i love the warmness of hufflepuff lolol
i know how you feel about showing your passion, but on an older post of mine i sorta said my share: "I dont support the trans = bad stuff cuz my gender is a mess rn and like bro lemmie just enjoy my silly lil game- also the community itself is very enjoyable and comforting as ive met plenty of gay ppl in there who just dont care about the transphobia stuff cuz harry potter is what they like. tbh for me its what the community is about not the creator, a very large example is mostly warrior cats, tho prob other communities too"
you shouldnt be scared to show your interests and opinions! yes-jk is a bad person and shouldnt be famous, but she was made famous by the community of potterheads! it practically shaped the world as we know it since the wonderful games and the movies probably wouldnt exist without us! its our passion, our thing that we like and nobody should judge what makes us happy. if they do, theres always that delicious block button lolol

I'm also doing One Piece as cats designs but I haven't posted them yet cuz I'm kinda shy about them, is such a cool and awesome thing to see more people doing this, and I got a question, are you a Warrior Cats fan?? I'm just curious
(sorry for the long text😭)
AWW TYSMM THIS MEANS A LOT 😭😭😭/GEN AND DW ABT THE SPAM🫶🫶
1.) IF U HAVE DESIGNS GO FOR IT FS!! Took me a lot of confidence bc I 100% thought I’d get bullied or something but people really enjoy it and it’s really motivating me!! I’ve currently drawn up to about the Baratie Arc in terms of designs so the queue is getting filled rq with all the motivation so TY!!
2.) unfortunately I am a warrior cats fan 😞 (/j) (My favorite character was squirrelflight, I heard she’s leader now??)
I grew up on the series and only learned to draw human anatomy about 2-3 years ago, was always drawing everyone as cats and then the internet for some reason just really liked them. I got really into one piece (again) earlier this year so I gave myself the challenge of drawing everyone as a kitty !!

Games Played/Beaten in 2023: Ranked!
28. Dynasty Warriors 9- 2/5,
As a big fan of Musou games and the Dynasty Warriors franchise, I'm deeply upset at how disappointing and underwhelming the last major entry in the DW franchise was. With a boring open world, dull gameplay, and a monotonous story, there is little to no reason to divulge as much time in the game as they want you to do.
27. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Campaign Mode.- 2.5/5.
As someone who does not play COD Warzone whatsoever, the levels playing Warzone-esque are no bother to me and are welcome. Other levels garner minimal intrigue and I wish there were more intriguing stakes in a story that ends way too soon and abruptly.
26. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order- 3/5
I wanted to like this game more than I did, and while it's in no way bad, I realized after 8 hours that this game wasn't for me. With level traversing as confusing and nerve-wracking as it is, coupled with gameplay that's not as stimulating as I'd like, I feel better off watching someone play through the story instead of playing myself.
25. Prey- 3.5/5
Gifted to me as a present years ago, it took time before I finally gave Prey the good ol college try. Trapped on a space station with shape-shifting aliens, you are tasked with self-destructing the station before the aliens can reach Earth. The stakes are there, and exploring the station is engaging, but the combat falls a bit short to my liking.
24. Granblue Fantasy Versus. 3.5/5
As a fighting game casual fan, I could stand to have more single-player content in my fighting games. Before Granblue dropped its sequel last month, Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, I dived into the previous game back in the early Fall. The character designs are quite anime-esque, and the RPG mode is quite fun, especially with a companion, but the fighting game itself lacked weight that other fighting games I played this past year harbored. Other games simply felt better to play than Granblue.
23. Final Fantasy XV- 3.5/5.
While Final Fantasy XVI was on the cusp of dropping this year, I thought it appropriate to replay the previous entry for the first time in years. The main character, Noctis, and his group of royal guards are mostly enjoyable. The rest of the cast, the gameplay, and the open world itself all fell into the same territory of being decent but could've been even stronger if more time was dedicated to each facet. To be fair, both playthroughs I've done have lacked the DLC so I'm unsure how much of a difference it makes on my overall enjoyment of the game. Next time I play, we'll have to see if it does, and maybe I'll rank it higher then.
22. Lego Harry Potter- 3.5/5.
As Playstation Plus made Lego HP one of the free monthly games, it was only a matter of time before I gave it a try as I have a moderate enjoyment of the HP series and a stronger attachment to Lego games in general. Bringing the magical wizard world of HP into Lego opened up many possibilities for endearing storytelling in its usual Lego charm upon replaying all eight movies across the game. Blowing the more recent HP game, Hogwarts Legacy, out of the water, it doesn't hold up as much as another Lego game I played this year that we'll get to later.
21. Attack on Titan- 3.5/5.
Released in August 2016, the Attack on Titan game was developed and produced by Omega Force and Koei Tecmo respectively, the same companies behind the Dynasty Warrior games and numerous other Musou games, AOT covers the first season of the show in game form. It does a good job at capturing the feeling of exhaustively slaughtering titan after titan as a human fighting for humanity, but as a Musou fan, I prefer their other titles immensely.
20. Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2- 3.5/5
I am unbelievably hyped for the next entry in this franchise. As someone who's played BT3 to death for years, I never got too much time with its predecessor for complex reasons. After snagging a copy for the Wii years ago and completing the story mode just this year, I can say that BT2 is fun and captures the feel of a DBZ fight you see in the show, but it's a much lesser version of BT3 that I can't help but feel after playing that one for years. BT2 has plenty of characters but still lacks against BT3, and many of the fighters have the same rush moves and lack distinction, again, unlike in BT3. The only aspect I enjoy much more in BT2 over BT3 is the execution of the story mode and the What If scenarios at our disposal. And even then, there was room for improvement in some aspects.
19. One Piece Pirate Warriors 4- 3.5/5
My second favorite anime after Dragon Ball Z has two of my favorite Musou games in Pirate Warriors 2 and 3. Pirate Warriors 4 skips plenty of arcs, but still tells the major story beats in the One Piece story with flashy gameplay as you mow down hundreds of enemy fodder with the unique cast at your disposal. Too many characters that were playable in the last Pirate Warriors were axed for newer characters, of only a few feel really fun to play. After a while, Pirate Warriors 4 can become a bit monotonous with its objectives or story beats with the characters accompanied by its gameplay, which is fair to say with almost any Musou game, but it feels more apparent with Pirate Warriors 4 than others.
18. Doki Doki Literature Club- 4/5
Visual novels are not my cup of tea and neither are horror games, but this one was too great. Of course, it's been out for years and I've known some of what happened in the events of the game, but as you have the option to go through different story routes at this high school, the twists and turns and creepy imagery were intriguing enough to make me want to continue. Doki Doki Literature Club deserved the praise it got at the time and still deserves praise for its writing and creativity.
17. Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate- 4/5
This is the last Musou game listed here I swear. Warriors Orochi is peak when it comes to the Musou format. Between hundreds of characters to choose from the Dynasty Warriors franchise, Samurai Warriors, and many original characters and guest characters, the variety at your hand while getting to pick any team of three and mow down enemies is a treat. Character interactions are endearing to any Dynasty or Samurai Warriors fan, the combat is more flashy than other games in its genres, and combined with a more traditional fighting game mode and a mode where you traverse a dungeon with a team of five, WO3U is one of the best games in its genre for certain.
16. South Park: The Stick of Truth- 4/5
The raunchy RPG based on the classic TV show really started picking up steam for me in the last few hours. Playing as a new kid who's moved into South Park, getting to create your combat class, pick up gear, and travel around the town of South Park to interact with the iconic cast or indulge in references and easter eggs as a fan of the series was hilarity incarnate. Performance issues plagued my run that stem mostly from playing on a PS3 for this. I wished the game utilized having more than one companion accompany you in combat, but Stick of Truth is a must-have, or maybe must-replay since its ten years old at this point, for RPG fans or South Park fans.
15. Dokapon Kingdom- 4/5
An underrated PS2 game that combines RPG elements to a classic Mario Party style. In the story of Dokapon, the fictional land is attacked by an army of monsters. The king offers his daughter, Princess Penny, to marry whichever player can finish the game with the most amount of money. It can induce the same amount of rage you would get playing Mario Party with friends, but it's also just as fun. The combat is simple yet thought-provoking, the random encounter events are entertaining with amusing characters, and the art style is cute to look at. It can be hard to obtain the original game these days, but I know a remake titled Dokapon Kingdom: Connect on the Switch exists that is almost exactly like the original, so I would recommend trying it out there if you can and play with friends.
14. Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate- 4/5.
In anticipation of Mortal Kombat 1 releasing, I bought a physical copy of MK11 to play for a time. The ultimate edition of MK11 separated itself by adding all DLC content such as characters like The Terminator, Spawn, Shang Tsung, etc., and the story mode "The Aftermath." Mortal Kombat 11 continues to be one of the prime examples of what I would like in my fighting games as a casual. The story mode is a stellar cinematic romp to play through, with an amusing option of picking one of two characters at some points when I can. Coupled with an arcade mode worth plowing through with characters having epilogue after completion, the Krypt being a fully explorable place, and a constantly changing tower of fighters to compete against, the single-player aspect is the basis of something I would like to see in future fighting games for people like myself who don't really want to hop online and fight others.
13. Spider-Man: Miles Morales. 4/5
A perfect appetizer that served while waiting in anticipation for Spider-Man 2. Taking the role of Miles Morales as Spider-Man instead of Peter Parker, Miles' story laid a solid foundation following his idle beginning in the first game and before exploring him somewhat further in the sequel. His dynamic with friend turned-enemy Phin is a decent precursor for a more explored friendship in Spider-Man 2 with Peter and Harry, but Miles' arc and assuming his great power AND responsibility is interesting. Miles Morales is short but great from a gameplay perspective more than the story, but it's also hard to go back to this game after playing Spider-Man 2.
12. Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time. 4/5
Released back in October 2020, Crash Bandicoot 4 was the first original entry in the Bandicoot franchise in over ten years. Combining the gameplay from the classic games and remakes, but updating it with a futuristic gloss, has helped concoct a supreme platformer. The option to turn either on or off lives helps supply gamers with whether or not they want a challenge, which I appreciate. It's About Time is not only clever with its double entendre name, being literally about time, and also being a well-overdue sequel, but clever in its boss fights, and presentation, adding up to a platformer that was more than worth the time.
11. Doom Eternal- 4/5
Gameplay-wise Doom Eternal is an improvement upon its predecessor, Doom 2016, in almost every way. Between the vast array of weapons and power-ups, there are almost too many ways to rip and tear through the armies of Hell. Traversing level through level with boosters and platforming combined with fast-paced action makes Doom Eternal a triumph in its genre. Story-wise, I prefer the simplicity of Doom 2016 over this, but Eternal is still stunning.
10. Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2- 4/5.
Guilty Gear may not have the amount of single-player content that Mortal Kombat 11 does that I like, but there are some things Arcsys' anime fighter does that I have to give them respect. The character designs are much more unique and stand out more and the gameplay harbors a quicker place that lends to more frantic, fun fights. Its story is confusing and a tad convoluted, but luckily, its characters, in terms of personality /and/ how they play, more than make up the nonsensical anime bullshit that shows up on the screen. Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2 is a balanced, hard-hitting affair that absolutely is entertaining in is own right.
9. Kingdom Hearts- 4/5
For years, I have tried completing this game, but thanks to the help of a friend, I finally managed to do so. Square Enix and Disney coming together to make its first collaborative effort will forever be iconic. Playing as a young child named Sora and traveling to different Disney worlds like Agrabah from Aladdin, the Coliseum from Hercules, and Wonderland to fight dastardly enemies like the Heartless is sensational. Not every world is made equal, (the jungle world from Tarzan is an awful, confusing mess), but the vibe is immaculate. Working together with Donald Duck and Goofy and enjoying the least confusing KH games is sometimes hard, with boss fights like Sephiroth or definitely the final boss, but it's an easy classic.
8. Final Fantasy X- 4/5.
Possibly my favorite Final Fantasy game to date, or at least on par with the FF7 remake. The cast of characters you play is likable and interesting in gameplay, with their abilities that separate each person from one another. The sphere grid, the system that centers around how you can build and level your character by maxing out their stats or magic, is a system I prefer over the usual level build-up you see in most RPGs. The depth of the story is engaging but comes secondary to the turn-based gameplay that I'm more fascinated by.
7. Persona 5- 4/5
The only RPG played this year I like slightly more than FFX. Persona's sense of style is mesmerizing and helps enhance the experience of a playthrough. As a group of high schoolers look to change the hearts of criminals in over-the-top setpieces that involve the cast diving deep into lavish worlds, the turn-based combat is more bombastic than any other of its kind. I put over 100 hours into Persona and didn't even accomplish everything I wanted. I cannot wait for a replay, but I need to get Persona 5 Royal some day as it has even more content than its vanilla version.
6. Uncharted 2- 4/5
Nathan Drake's second adventure improved upon the first game in so many ways I can't believe. As Drake is tasked with finding the entrance to the lost city of Shambhala, the stakes were as high as ever at that point. As I steadily make my way through the Uncharted franchise, the 2nd game improved from the first with its shooting, level design, and character work with Drake, Sully, and the introduced Chloe among others. From the opening scene where you control Drake trying to escape a train dangling over a cliff, I understood almost immediately how some consider this the best Uncharted game in the series.
5. Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga- 4/5
As someone who played plenty of Lego games growing up with friends and family, one replay after years revealed how this is one of the best Lego games out there. The Complete Saga's name is outdated now, but at the time you had every Star Wars movie from the Prequels and Original Trilogy to go through in Lego form with 160 characters for you to choose from, including overpowered Jedi ghosts and Indiana Jones. Lego Harry Potter is fun but pales in comparison to the weight of swinging a lightsaber around or shooting droids and clones with your blaster. The newest Lego Star War game, The Skywalker Saga, I have not touched, but I know that the original Complete Saga is another classic etched into the echoes of video game history.
4. King Of Fighters 2002- 4/5
This game is not so much for a fighting game casual like myself, but I can't help but be roped into something so special. The KOF series is something I've had a soft spot for since my godparent's son showed me the franchise as a child. It's rough, it's hard, it's unforgiving, it's a classic fighting game in every sense. The characters are special to play and I wanted to learn most of them and see what combination of characters benefit me the most. There really isn't much single-player content to offer and this is a game for the hardcore fighting game fan-based, but there's just a feeling....a sensation to this that's hard to describe or replicate. I never hopped online, but I kept going back to fighting the CPU over and over again with different characters and just playing for several hours. KOF 2002 is an outstanding achievement that captures that feeling of playing fighting games in an arcade in the old days that you can't recapture these days.
3. The Last of Us: Remastered.
After the first season of the Last of Us Show dropped, I dived into the game for the first time in years. The Remastered version, as opposed to "The Last of Us: Part 1" is Naughty Dog's crown jewel. It's quite grounded for a zombie game, it's characters, especially Joel and Ellie, are rich, the ways to take down zombies and fellow survivors alike is gratifying, there's solid reasons why Last of Us is an achievement for Playstation, but these next two games amplify that mindset.
2. Spider-Man 2- 4.5/5
One of the few games I played this year that actually came out in 2023. Everything that made the first Spider-Man game and Spider-Man: Miles Morales so great is improved upon in this in almost every facet. The combat is sublime, being able to switch between both Peter and Miles is excellent, the story may lack in a few areas surrounding Miles, but it's still massive and overwhelming in the best sense. But the definitive aspect of the game has to be traversal. Swinging around the city feels so weighty and impressive- do you know how good it has to be to move around in a world when there is a fast travel option but you don't want to use it because you WANT to swing around the city, or in some cases glide? Spider-Man 2 is a spectacle in so many ways that it will be hard to go back to the previous games. As far as games that came out in 2023, it's my game of the year then. But if we are to take into account every game I played this year, regardless of what year it came out, then there's only 1 game I preferred over Spider-Man 2...
God Of War: Ragnarok
Like many of the other games on this list, GOWR is a sequel that surpasses its predecessors in almost every way. Ragnarok continues the story of Kratos and his son Atreus in a meaningful way as Kratos continues to evolve as a character and an older Atreus grows into his own. What is there to say about the game that hasn't been said already? The voice-acting performances are phenomenal across the board, the combat is righteous and immensely satisfying, and the design of each of the realms are awe-inspiring with top-notch graphics. And with GOWR dropping FREE story DLC in Valhalla, which incorporates a dungeon-like style into the open-world hack-and-slash style only cemented itself as my game of the year. Valhalla not only gives a unique, fun mode for players to lose themselves in for hours but tells a story basically of Kratos going through therapy after the heinous acts he committed in the original three games. The only fault in all of GOWR I had was one section with Atreus, but besides that I adore this game to pieces. And with that, GOWR is absolutely my favorite game I played in 2023.

@blue-mint-winter commented post:
Your welcome and I completely agree about TCW changing important characterizations, especially Anakin's. Also Barriss, I will never forgive that shit. They definitely did that. That's why my favourite eps were about Jar Jar LOL
I spent the whole day debating with myself should I go on and scream about the unfairness done to Barriss and Jedi as a whole or not since talking negative about TCW at times feels like opening can of worms, but my frustration with current star wars content already hit acceptable limits and is waaay past them so I decided to screw all consequences, it is time for a mini-rant. I hope you don’t mind me bringing that up as separate post (or if you don’t wish to be tagged in that post, lemme know :))
Okay. Where do I even start? Anyone who would sort posts through my blog will know that I love analyzing stuff and more often than not, I’m critical toward the Jedi Order (especially Order as the institution) and that through the years I have a lot of critical things to say about the new canon, with the emphasis on The Clone Wars.
TCW has literally been a thorn in my side for years and although the show had its good moments (storyline wise and artistic effects/music) that I want to acknowledge, the longer the show was run, the more it felt to me as the Triumph of Form over Substance. The creators needed to go from point A (post AotC/clone wars) to point B (RotS / Order 66) but as it was proved, they did not need to actually keep Legends (old canon) elements in the original form and things were used or discarded as they wanted. Some choices made more or less sense, some were turning our knowledge totally 180 degrees with various effects or fan reactions. Like I will never agree with chip in clone brains storyline (x)(x) nor implying domestic abuse toward Anakin and Padme (they were meant to be tragic, doomed lovers, not being in abusive relationship for Force’s sake) or erasing Prequels/Legends characterization of Anakin for the more common action macho idiotic one (something that creators themselves admitted to do, which is why Skywalker is more mix of Han & Luke because apparently some people aren’t capable of accepting introverted / emotional man as main hero? Riiight). At the same time, I’m willing to defend changes done to Mandalorians,  because the story has a great potential but sadly the show focused mainly at the pacifism vs. terrorism angle. Which I guess makes sense from U.S.-centric perspective, but for someone like me, whose country/nation actually lost its independence for over 123 years (1795 -1918) and then suffered through the Nazi occupation (1939-1945) and survived the communist regime (1945-1989) before finally feeling like free country again, then Death Watch, however brutal or incoherent at times, rings a different bell. It is not about nationalism itself but wanting to have your culture back despite all the damage done through the years of forced expulsion / displacement or warriors (those not fitting into New society) and be independent from Republic / Empire. And this hits me more closely as a Pole than terrorist narratives done to DW (and Bariss).
But the thing that irritates me the most is how characters and their powers aren’t incoherent in a sensible way. They can use Force for great action and dueling, but Anakin can’t feel Obi-Wan’s presence when the man worked undercover (sorry if the show actually explained it for I do not remember it was ever addressed?).  Anakin at first was shown as a self-sacrificing type of person (e.g. Jedi Crash) but for some reasons sometimes doesn’t do anything to save clones from certain doom even if he could use Force to stop them from falling down into lava or whatever it was in Citadel? And it is not just him? Ahsoka killed clones infected by worms but didn’t kill Bariss because they were best friends or whatever? But she is the bestie with clones! She cares! She is after all the protagonist who acts smart and all while all adults suddenly lose their brains. Like Anakin, a Jedi General, does not study maps before an attack on an enemy position, but Ahsoka did and saved the day. What a hero! And whatever she will do, it is all right at the end of day. Bo-Katan willingly supported Pre Vizsla/DW who destroyed the whole village and killed an innocent girl (whose Ahsoka befriended) but does it matter? Nope. Because she is now besties with Bo-Katan, a beloved freedom fighter, a noble lady and all the jazz.Pre Vizsla? Anyone remember him? No? No wonder, a persona non grata who would drag Bo-Katan (and Ahsoka by extension) in bad light so the show and other current sources are literally erasing him from the Mandalorian storyline. Because it is better to not remember the past than face a consequence of characters (creators) choices.
It feels like yeah, Jedi care if the episode needs it but don’t care if the show needs some shock value or feeling of danger. Mace cares for clone troopers and even offers droids a chance to surrender but isn’t somehow bothered when 12 year old Boba was put in prison for the worst ADULT criminals. Sure, it is very reasonable. Anakin cares for clones, unless the show needs a high death toll or jokes (throwing Rex off the dam without warning). Jedi will literally jeopardize an important mission just to give one of them a proper burial but will not give a shit about dying or dead clones. And so on.
I understand that the show was made for kids, but if we go into dark themes - and the show went into pretty dark stuff, mind you - then at least it should be addressed properly. Slick accused Jedi of keeping clones slaves yet it doesn’t matter. What a bad clone! Totally forgotten for the rest of the season. Bo-Katan’s past crimes don't matter since you can just erase Pre Vizsla from her narrative. Does the story need emotional impact? Create female characters (Satine, Steela, Tryla, Teckla Minnau) to kill off, so someone else (Obi-Wan, Ahsoka & Padme) could use it for either development or making political statements and either turn dead ones into some saints or forget them all. Or just kill off clones, there is so many of them anyway, who cares how competent soldiers they were or if you make them act idiotic. Jedi lead an army made of people with no legal right, but the clones *love so much them they have nightmares about order66* so everything is right. All makes sense, right?
This doesn’t just influence how fans see Anakin (turned into a typical action male lead) or how Ahsoka is literally everywhere now. The show, as I’m seeing it, did a great disservice to Jedi. And Barriss… Barriss is just the tip of the iceberg. The authors literally twisted every established clone wars storyline around a new character - Ahsoka Tano - so there was no real reason to use Barriss since they could simply introduce us to original Ahsoka’s friend. She already interacted with so many original Jedi characters but instead the team took one of the most known Legends!Jedi Healers and turned into terrorist? Killing innocent people to prove Jedi lost their ways? It really feels disrespectful, both to fans and Jedi.
And you know what TCW did not show us? Jedi Force-healing their troopers. Something that Barriss did on various points in Legends sources. She literally worked in various Republic Mobile Surgical Units (Rimsoo) as was seen in Republic comics series & Medstar duology or helping at triage unit(s) and as Jedi healers would not abbadon the wounded during enemy attack. Like when fire spread around them and cut away from safe way to evacuate, her first worry was about the injured people (Republic #65)
Tumblr media
I’m really supposed to believe a person with such a mindset and compassion would decide to kill innocent people to make a point about war? Really? REALLY? Even more since there was no focus on why a Jedi like her could break and do something like that in the first place? This wasn’t a development or fleshing out for character, it was just shifting the blame on someone so Ahsoka could get out of Order before RotS/Purge. Which is unfair to Barriss.
Oh, and by the way, remember how Luminara was talking to Anakin to let it go and accept that his padawan may have died or something along the lines? The mentioned Republic #65 has Mace Windu personally searching for survivors and not leaving enemy lines without checking first if someone survives even when he was told that enemy may attack at any moment:
Tumblr media
This is a proper Jedi. There is a difference between accepting that you did not manage to save someone and not bothering to at least try to save. Which is just another reason why TCW Jedi strikes me more as arrogant, manipulative and uncaring than the flawed people presented in Legends.
Good Force, it is really bad if I'm going out of my way to rant about respecting Jedi characters...

Okay amine,,,well backstory is I quit watching anime when I was a teen bc I watched Chobits and sobbed profusely bc I felt I could never have what they had and that hurt me too much so I put it away for over a decade.
Before that though I was a pretty big fan, I love(d) the 90s animes and have seen a ton of the known dubbed ones and I was very in love with Sailor Moon yes homo and Card Captor Sakura and (endless list of anime girls I've been in love with) into my beloved FLCL.
idk after watching all the Ghiblis in HD half a dozen times I finally caved, I watched an anime a dear friend recommended and I fell in love with it instantly. (I will review it too dw but that's not today's case) and this year I've finally just eased into trying them again.
So what IS today's case? Seasons 1 and 2 of Don't Toy With Me Miss Nagatoro!
Tumblr media
YEAH she bullies him, he's into her bullying and jock shit, she's into his demure sheepness and his art nerd shit, they are both actually very lovable and cool people and the plot progress is aggressively constant. The art is lovely too, I'm actually a huge fan of this one!
It's a mixture of modern story heavy progression and classic tenchi-muyu silly edgy semi-lewdity but they're both secretly push overs so it's fun watching them freak out when their games accidentally go the way they were teasing they would.
In truth it's hard to talk about without spoiling because it is just gags inbetween constant story progress which I actually like a lot, it is a romance and it is super heartwarming seeing them both change for the better as they support and push each other to grow. This is what all great warriors strive for imo. 9/10
Art Club President is based, I want to be her when I grow up.
