La storia della Musica!!!!

Tre giorni di pace e musica. Tre giorni che hanno fatto la storia. Si celebra oggi il 51esimo anniversario del più grande evento di libertà, umanità e lotta pacifica: il Festival di Woodstock. Più che un concerto un pellegrinaggio, una fiera di arte e musica, una comunità, un modo di vivere che ha cambiato per sempre il concetto di libertà. Sul palco, a Bethel (una piccola città rurale nello stato di New York) si sono alternati per tre giornate alcuni tra i più grandi musicisti della storia. Si passava dal rock psichedelico di Jimi Hendrix (che, pur di essere l’ultimo a esibirsi, salì sul palco alle 9 di lunedì mattina per un concerto di due ore, culminato nella provocatoria versione distorta dell’inno nazionale statunitense) e dei Grateful Dead ai suoni latini dei Santana (che regalarono un memorabile set, impreziosito dallo storico assolo di batteria del più giovane musicista in scena: Michael Shrieve) passando per il rock britannico di Joe Cocker (che regalò in scaletta le splendide cover di Just Like a Woman di Dylan e With a Little Help from my Friends dei Beatles) e degli Who all’apice della loro carriera (celebre l’invasione di palco dell’attivista Habbie Hoffman, durante il loro concerto, quasi quanto il lungo assolo di Pete Townshend durante My Generation, con lancio di chitarra finale).

C’era poi il folk, con una splendida Joan Baez su tutti, che suonò nonostante fosse al sesto mese di gravidanza, genere tipicamente statunitense che si alternava a suoni più esotici e orientali, come il sitar di Ravi Shankar. D’impatto i presenti come pesanti furono le assenze di John Lennon, che si rifiutò di esibirsi per il mancato invito di Yoko Ono, Bob Dylan, padrone di casa (lui che all’epoca viveva proprio a Woodstock) assente per la malattia del figlio, i Rolling Stones, ancora scossi per la morte di Brian Jones e i Doors, alle prese con una serie infinita di problemi legali.

Il vero protagonista dell’evento fu però il pubblico, la “vera star” secondo l’organizzatore Michael Lang, eterogeneo quasi quanto i generi musicali. Da tutta America arrivarono studenti liceali e universitari, hippie, veterani del Vietnam, filosofi, operai e impiegati. Nessuna differenziazione di razza, etnia o colore della pelle: tutti uniti dalla voglia di stare insieme in libertà con il fango a livellare ogni diversità e i capelli lunghi come simbolo di ribellione. Un sogno che oggi sembra lontano anni luce, nelle ideologie come nell'organizzazione.

Da quel 1969 si è provato a più riprese a riproporre Woodstock, con scarsi risultati culminati nell'annullamento del concerto in programma per questo cinquantesimo anniversario, organizzato proprio da Lang e non andato in porto tra una defezione e l’altra, forse perché indigesto ai grandi organizzatori di eventi musicali mondiali. Forse, a conti fatti, meglio così: quell'atmosfera irripetibile era frutto di una spontaneità organizzativa di altri tempi, una magia fuori da ogni schema il cui risultato sensazionale, iconico e significativo fu chiaro solo anni dopo anche agli stessi partecipanti.

So I have a new question lol - for my aspecs out there, do any of you feel attraction to masculine/masculinity and feminine/femininity? For me that attraction falls under aesthetic, romantic, and alterous. Because (which is why using bi or pan still feels clunky for me) my attraction towards the people I liked...I guess I don't like putting any label that has a specific definition that doesn't allow for nuance. So I guess fluid and or queer fits best - it allows nuance and I need that space because my experiences aside from asexual do not fit well into concrete definitions.

I'm rambling and bouncing off ideas with yall who are reading.

For my high school crush who was my non hetero awakening - I liked how cute she was, how her voice sounded, liked looking at her aesthetic wise as it pleased me how her face was organized lol. And this actually wasn't the first time I felt attraction to a person who IDs as a girl; I always forget because at the time I wasn't aware it was a crush, a celebrity crush but a crush nonetheless - I was 12 so very unaware of anything lgbtq. The actress was Phoebe Tonkin from H20 Just Add Water, a mermaid show, and Tonkin in 2007 - 2011 had me locked in. I watched YouTube slide shows of her model photoshoots - looking back it was a clear crush, anything with her in it I was watching. (I have also been a lifelong mermaid fan since age 3 so that also probably helped.) It was the same thing, she was INSANELY cute, perfect cheeks, perfect smile, gorgeous doe eyes, sweet lips etc. I should have mentioned her in my original anon but I must have suppressed those feelings because I truly do forget about them. Oh and as I am writing, I just remembered loving to look at the Olivia Hussey in her version Romeo and Juliet too...and currently a few girls in my life I'm around that I've noticed. I must still be subconsciously suppressing these feelings.... But all of that is also how I felt about the boys I liked, past and present. Basically the soft look the cute boys - pretty, scraggly, alt, dorky boy - also had me sprung. In the past, Dylan O Brian, boy crushes from school...currently right now my newest celeb crush is a voice actor named Kaiji Tang and his voice is my kryptonite and he aint bad to look at either. But again, soft face, sweet smile etc. So yes I definitely have a favorite look and, yes, giggly daydreams about them have/has happened too. Thinking about it more, all those attributes fall under femininity/feminine - so now I'm thinking am I just attracted to feminine traits specifically cute - ya know? But then I do love me a beard, not just a mustache, (Tang has one) which I do see as a masculine thing so I also like masculine/masculinity but it seems like I lean more toward feminine. That route can be found in men and women.

Again, I hope I made some form of sense.

Yeah, it's definitely possible for attraction to be based more on feminity/masculinity than the actual gender of the person. There are some microlabels around that if you're interested in that (finic for example means someone who is on the multisexual spectrum but has a preference for people who are more feminine in nature).

But yeah, I'll throw this out to followers, can anyone relate or have their own thoughts or experiences they want to share?

The Best Album Per Year for Sixty Years

No-one asked for it, of course, but I do like making lists, so here's me pondering what have been the best Long Players in the album artform the past 60 years. I originally tried to keep it to just one per year, but many years that proved impossible: when listing multiple albums I have tried ranking them with the one I feel narrowly edges out the others first, and I use lower case to indicate an album that is not at the same level as others on the list but was the best I've heard from that time.

Storia Di Musica #307 - Edizione Speciale Natale 2023 - Dylaniati Vol.1

Per queste due ultime storie musicali del 2023 ho voluto giocare un po', sempre però partendo dal disco del mese, Bringing It All Back Home di Bob Dylan. Pochi dischi sono stati più seminali, nel vero senso del termine: non si parla solo di successo commerciale, questione che con Dylan è sempre stata relativa (per dirne una, ha più numeri 1 in Gran Bretagna che negli Stati Uniti), ma di una fondamentale spinta creativa e di ispirazione, che dura da 6 decenni. Dylaniato è il titolo che Tito Schipa Jr diede ad una sua compilation di riletture di classici dylaniani, nel 1987. Il titolo mi è sempre piaciuto, e lo userò per una carrellata di omaggi al menestrello di Duluth, che insieme ai Beatles è l'artista più coverizzato di sempre.

Isabella Lundgren è una giovane e talentuosissima jazzista svedese, che nel 2019 prende in prestito l'iconica copertina, cambiandone dei particolari: lei è insieme ai suoi musicisti, Dylan era con la moglie del suo manager Grossman, i dischi sul tappeto riprendono l'idea della copertina originale, tra le scelte dell'artista svedese spicca Kind Of Blue di Miles Davis. Lundgren sceglie alcuni capolavori della discografia di Dylan e li riarrangia con stile, accompagnata dalla sua voce calda e bellissima: spiccano una versione riuscitissima di The Times They Are A-Changin' (sempre dolorosamente attualissima) e una Forever Young dolcissima; il titolo non è una canzone di Dylan ma una nuova canzone scritta da Brian Kramer, cantautore newyorkese.
