Tips for Vampirekins? BECAUSE GENUINELY I JUST FOUND OUT I AM ONE TODAY considering theres been signs for years...
So any advice and tips is VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. 😭
SQUEALS OMG WELCOME TO THE COMMUNITY!! It means so much you came to me for help 💜
I'm not sure if this is your first kintype so I'll add my general kin tips as well as vamp specific stuff.
Ways To Connect With Your Kintype:
Create a Spotify Playlist: Doesn't have to be on-theme, can always just be your fave songs labelled under your kintype - they're both part of your identity! Vampirism is heavily linked to alternative music & subcultures.
Create a Moodboard: This is easy enough to do in Canva or most mobile collaging apps! I recommend using pinterest to find your images. This is one of my favourite ideas because you can make a 3x3 square moodboard & add it as your spotify playlist cover!
Design Your Own Kin Flag: Kin pride flags are very popular on tumblr. There's probably an already existing one for your kintype, but a custom kin flag has a special personal connection & the colours can have relevance to you!
Make a Kinsona: A Kinsona is like a fursona but for your kintype! It's an original character with the species of your kin. If you're into roleplay, that can be a great way to foster a connection. If you're part of the voidpunk community, you can also make a voidsona!
Support or Donate to Animal Sanctuaries: Sort of in the title for this one. This is usually a tip for therians & similar but I think bat sanctuaries would be relevant to vampirekin. Support can just look like following them online! It gives them reach & you get to see cute animals.
Vampirekin Tips:
Raw Meat & Blood Diet: Obviously human blood and raw meat isn't a viable option here! @/forests-creatures created a good list of alternatives: Beef jerky, rare steaks, safe raw salmon & dried fruits. For sweet options, I'd say the red tongue-staining lollipops could work, as well as pink or red chocolate & red popping candy. You can also add red food colouring to existing food. Please research that what you're eating is safe beforehand! Tumblr is not a reliable resource. I took this list from my zombiekin tips - it's proving pretty good for most monsterkins!
Wear Sunglasses & Sunhats or Gloves & Scarves: You're a vampire! You can't be going out in the sun! Incorporating day-to-day human protection against the weather is a good way to stay safe. There are some really cool tinted and bat shaped sunglasses out there if you know where to look.
Make a Necklace of Your Home Soil: In old vampire legends, if a vampire went abroad or travelled long distances they would need to bring some of their home soil with them. Online you can buy fairly afforable vial necklaces! Go to your garden or local park & scoop a little dirt in.
Gear: The obvious gear for vampires is of course fake fangs - these should be a little easier to find now we're into spooky season. However, I've also seen biting fidget/sensory toys (often in the form of charms or necklaces) be recommended!
Spend Time Outside @ Night: It's definitely not safe or recommended to go walking around alone at night, however there are alternatives! You can always sit in your garden or do what I do (as a werewolfkin) and sit near your window to moonbathe. Taking friends or family stargazing is also great fun! There are apps you can get that will locate the constellations around you.
Hopefully a couple of these were helpful!! ❤️

This is part 2 of my Oathbound AU
I been working on this AU some more, as you can see. Above are the different forms that Impulse and Skizz can shift in-between. I just realized I forgot to add Skizz's scruff, please pretend he has it. Below has more details about forms, the environments they grew up it, and how this AU interacts with the Life Series.
--Forms--
Impulse prefers his human form. He works a lot with redstone and machinery so lots of tight spaces and moving parts. So while having horns and wings is cool those parts are more likely to get stuck or pinched.
Skizz prefers having at least his wings out. However, he doesn't like it when random people clock him as an angel. To remedy this, while he has his wings out he'll store his halo in his inventory. If anyone asks what type of hybrid he is, he'll just saying some type of white hawk. Impulse would say Skizz is a type of pigeon.
--Places--
So the places that Angels and Demons are form aren't new dimensions, but more like extensions to existing places. The placeholder names are The Upper and The Under. I thought about using the Aether name, but ultimately decided against it.
The Upper is a place far above the sky. Past the limit where fireworks refuse to ignite. Past the limit where elytra start to freeze and shatter. Past the limit where even the sturdiest avians refuse to go. That is where you'll find the angels.
The Upper is a very cold land. Water isn't a thing up there only ice. However, it's no winter wonderland given that it's much too cold to snow. Angels are built for this type of environment, because while they can eat food most of their energy comes from light. Shelter and tools are made from stone and wood-like materials. Although most angels are perfectly fine just finding a nice, flat, floating rock and sleeping on that. The air up there is very still and quiet.
The Under is a place far below the Nether. Beneath the lava lakes of the Nether, in netherrack that is partially baked from the intense heat and weight, you'll find the demons.
The Under is a very hot land. Winding tunnels and caverns that were dug out connecting with chaotically formed ravines all of which is only lit by lava that has snuck through the cracks. Demons are mostly fire proof, because of this they are able to crawl up from the lava lakes are search for food on the Nether floor. There are things they can eat in The Under, but almost all Demons prefer the stuff from the slightly above. The tunnels are often quite noisy.
If it wasn't clear: The Upper is above the overworld, The Under is in below the Nether.
--Who did the Oath first?--
This was answered in the comments of part 1, but I also wanted to put it here.
So if you asked them directly they would probably give you a different answer time. 1: because it's very personal 2: because it's funny. So what actually happened is both Skizz and Impulse thought of the idea independently, but it was Skizz who brought up it up first. However it was Impulse who did the oath first. Of course it took multiple years for him to psyche himself up to do it, not because he didn't trust Skizz, he was just very nervous about it.
Impulse is also just a "tiny" bit competitive and wanted to go against the demon stereotypes. While Skizz would've preferred it to happen sooner and was will to go first, he understood that this was important to impulse. He does have fun needling Impulse that it took him soooooo long, but it's all in good fun
--Life Series--
I personally like seeing that the Life Series started as a fun hardcore series that turned into a death game due to outside forces. Impulse and Skizz (in their human forms) understand that things are going wrong when the second game starts. While everyone's hybrid abilities are being suppressed by the outside force so no one get too much of an advantage. Yes, they could brute force it by going Eclipse mode and getting everyone out they don't know if that would help in the long run. I mean what if it happens again but since they outsiders how of their powers they don't take Impulse and Skizz and the two of them completely lose track of their freinds?
So they settle for trying to pick up clues and win at least one of the games...
....
...
.... why are they so bad at this ....
(though it sounds like angst, it's probably going to end up as a comedy if I'm going to be honest...)

Hi! I know you already discussed this with the hxh yanderes, but do you think some yanderes in demon slayer, hashiras and demons, would want to get married to their darling? Hashiras probably would, but i'm not so sure about demons.
Hi anon!!
I'm always happy to write about kny, and this is a good question! I'm not too much of a buff on Japanese history/historical time periods, so hopefully I'm not too factually off - based off of Tanjiro's reactions anytime skin is shown/ Zenitsu's insistence on marriage, I'm going to guess that marriage was probably more expected than it is today. So we're going to move forward with that in mind!
(Also I know next to nothing about traditional Japanese weddings, so you're getting my Western norms/knowledge... sorry! Also, I'm still debating on whether I want to write Mitsuri and Obanai as separate or poly yanderes because I really can't stomach the thought of separating them, so you're getting poly for this!)
Without further ado, let's discuss!! (This is long I apologize)
First of all, you're right - almost all of the Hashiras have marriage on the mind once their obsession forms. They're dreaming of you in pretty white gowns, boquets of flowers everywhere, and a pretty, glittering ring on your finger. There's something comfortable and good about knowing that you're safe, that you're protected, that you're theirs, both in the eyes of the law and of each other.
The demons, on the other hand, are more of a mixed bag - none of them really remember their time as a human, but some are more connected with their human sides than others - and thus, some of them are much, much more desperate to make you theirs in a way that satiates their remaining scraps of humanity. (Plus, this is a way to bind you to them that the demons know you'll recognize the weight of - after all, it's not like divorcing them is really an option; you can't even run two feet without them immediately catching and immobilizing you. What makes you think you could ever truly escape them?)
But of course, let's start with the beloved, oh-so-righteous Hashira. They each have a different level of motivation for getting you to share their last name - personal trauma, dependency, and their awareness of your feelings for them make each individual approach in asking for your hand very unique.
(Though each is laced with just a hair of hesitance, their vulnerability coming to light when they pop the question, because even if they've already stolen you away, even if Stockholm Syndrome has already bent and warped you, there's still the possibility of rejection. There's still the possibility that you don't want them as badly as they do, that you don't need them like they need you. You'll say yes, they'll make sure of it, but you need to mean it - you need to love them, too.)
Kochou Shinobu wants to marry you, and while she won't force you to, she's not too shy to drop hints. In general, she's not too terribly controlling, aside from her extreme overprotectiveness, and this extends to her plans of marriage with you.
She wants to bind you to her permanently, to get you officially and legally tied to her in a way you can't deny no matter how badly you may want to, but she won't force it. After all, while she does force you into all sorts of things in the name of protection and your wellbeing (forcing you to eat certain foods, keeping you inside the Butterfly mansion with scheduled times for you to sit outside in the garden, and a whole variety of other things that make you bristle with indignation and shame), she wants big steps in your relationship to be consensual.
(Aside from your kidnapping, of course - though she sees your captivity less as a step and more of a necessity, more of something she's doing to make sure you aren't the victim of some horrible, disgusting demon. And, of course, so that you're alive and well and she can see you and hear you and smell you and touch you.)
She'll pop the question once she thinks Stockholm Syndrome has set in, and even then, the moment is actually quite nice. She'd set up a nice meal for you (with foods you actually like, not the overly healthy, bland slog she always forces down your throat), with a few candles glowing and nice, fluffy blankets surrounding where you both sit on the floor.
Her voice is strangely soft and sweet when she asks you, this odd look in her eye that almost looks scared, as if she's genuinely afraid of how you'll respond to her slightly wobbly will you marry me? She wants you to say yes, needs it, really, but if you say no she'll respect that.
She won't let you go, of course, but she won't force it onto you. She'll be more distant, a little more snappy, and she'll spend noticeably less time physically close to you, but once she's recovered a bit (meaning she's slaughtered enough demons that her anger is slightly quelled, though the hurt is still very much present), she'll return to you, working even harder than before to make you happy and want her.
Perhaps you'll change your mind if she's more accommodating, if she's sweeter, if she's just better.
Giyuu Tomioka, for one, probably won't ever ask you to marry him.
It's not that he doesn't want to, but rather that it seems like this unnecessary step that doesn't need to happen for your relationship to be stable and happy and loving. He's a bit of an odd duck as a yandere - he's emotionally stunted and difficult at communicating his feelings, and because of this, he often worries that you're feeling things that he's unaware of.
He's paranoid that you secretly hate him, that you're lying every time you say something even remotely nice to him, that you wish he was dead or being tormented by a demon. (And frankly, this isn't entirely false - he does eventually kidnap you, once his hand is forced, and of fucking course you hate him after that - you're terrified of him, and it nearly breaks Giyuu, sending him into a spiral that'll take months of you eagerly convincing him otherwise to move past.)
And because of these fears, Giyuu is hesitant to really do anything romantic at all with you - anything from calling you pet names to cuddling you takes a long time for him to feel comfortable with, and so marriage?
It's unlikely that he'll ask, but not impossible - after all, he does harbor strong feelings for you, finding you on his mind constantly, his hands always twitching and itching to reach out to you, his eyes always seeming to wander back to your figure, his entire body just yearning for you you you.
Giyuu does genuinely want to marry you - he likes the idea of you having his last name, and the idea of being tied to you in a real, tangible way. It makes some of the paranoia quell, because would you really leave him if you were married?
Widows don't survive easily in this world - you'd find it extremely hard to remarry. (That thought leaves a sour taste in his mouth, though he does like that it means you're less likely to leave him.)
So while Giyuu probably won't ever ask, just know that when he's staring at you so longingly, gazing at you with those wide eyes that never seem to blink, he's imagining the way you'd look in lace, how your pretty face would look at him from under a veil, how your voice would caress his name when you say your vows.
It's a sweet thought that he harbors, and it's only many, many years into the future that he'll admit this to you. (And even then, it's only in passing, only when he's in your arms, on the brink of sleep and feeling the most calm and vulnerable and safe he's felt in his whole life - you'll hear a small would you want to be a wife? He won't elaborate if you ask him to repeat himself, instead pretending it never happened, but that's probably the closest you'll get to admittance.)
Kyojuro Rengoku knows marriage is in his future from a young age. He's always dreamed of having a loving family, of having another family for Senjuro to grow close to.
And really, you just make it so easy - it's disturbing how quickly he's fantasizing about dropping to one knee, imagining your face - in detail - when he pops the question; he's sure your jaw will drop, your eyes going wide, maybe you'd even cover your mouth with your hand because you can hardly contain yourself with excitement.
And then you'll say yes - over and over again, crushing him into a hug that he eagerly returns, burying his nose into your hair and smelling and breathing and yearning -
Nights he spends fantasizing about your future normally end with flushed cheeks and sweat coating his body, his chest heaving and dried cum splattered along his navel.
He expects marriage, really, simply because he's a traditional man and he wants to become your protector and provider - he's lenient on most things involving the wedding, however. He's daydreaming about you in your dress, of course, but he'll be delighted with whatever style or color you choose, tears of joy in his eyes when he sees you walking down the aisle towards him, towards your future.
He'll let you decide the flowers and how you style your hair, and he'll even let you choose his own clothing - he will be incorporating the flame somehow, however, and that goes for more than just his clothing. Your ring will have a large, somewhat gaudy opal jewel in it, along with a flame engraved on the inside of the ring, so that you're close to him always, even when he's away on missions.
Kyojuro is so very sure that you'll become his wife one day that even before you're aware of his obsession with you, he's referring to you as my flame and my spouse and my lovely wife both in private and public. It's off-putting and strange, but no amount of explaining or pleading will get him to stop.
He's genuinely dead set on becoming your husband, and he'll even allow you to invite a select group of your family and friends to the event - after all, it's not like they could stop it. What could they do? He's the Flame Hashira, responsible for saving more lives than you could count - he can have whatever he wants, and that includes you.
(At least Shinobu will be on your side at the wedding - she'll watch with sad eyes, sad for you but happy for her comrade, though ultimately she can do nothing as well - even when she sees the way he looks at you, the way his eyes absolutely devour you.)
Marriage isn't exactly necessary for Gyomei Himejima, but it's still certainly a thought that lingers in the far corners of his mind, dancing behind closed eyelids on the rare night he's laying in his own bed, the blankets feeling cold and empty.
He normally wills away any sort of fantasizing about you at night - both on principle and because once he starts thinking of you, you don't leave his thoughts for hours, making sleep - something already a bit difficult for him - even harder to come by. But on the few nights where his self-control wavers ever so slightly, he allows himself to imagine the way your hands would feel with a pretty, smooth ring adorning your finger, standing out against the softness of your skin.
He'll move his own fingers against the fabric of his futon, pretending the lackluster linen is you instead, moving up to cup your face, brush over your hair, let his fingers trace the curve and juts of your collarbone.
He'll let himself imagine coming home to you, how the smell of you would fill his nostrils the moment he opens the door, how your voice would sound calling his name, telling him I'm so glad you're home, my love, it's lonely to be a wife without her other half by her side...
It's a desire he nurses, slowly letting it fester and grow and rot in his heart, and so when the day finally comes that you've given up on fighting him, that you've reluctantly accepted that he is your future now (and after months of him calmly and simply stating that I'm doing what is best for you, you are weak and you need protection, helpless creatures like yourself cannot be left to the wolves), he'll swallow and ask you, with a voice that's just slightly uneven, if you'd do him the honor of becoming his wife, if you'd share yourself with me, both in life and death?
It's not like you really have a choice, but he can't help the tears that slip down his cheeks when you answer him, those big, scarred hands of his slowly slipping down to your hips, excitement brewing in his chest that makes him feel both elated and sinful because married couples show love in much more intimate ways, and he's been holding himself back for so long, far longer than any other man could endure...
Sanemi Shinazugawa is, even to you - the love of his life, the woman he finds himself so ardently and frustratingly obsessed with - difficult to understand. He never explicitly tells you about his past nor childhood, only dropping small, hardly-there hints once in a blue moon.
All you've managed to gather is that something horrible happened to him, and that despite seeming rough and callous and cruel, he's significantly softer at heart than you'd expected.
And so, when Sanemi bites his lip a few months into your kidnapping, his fingers tapping together in his lap and his eyes struggling to stay fixed on you while you quietly and calmly folded the pretty, new kimono he'd just returned from a recent mission with, you're completely floored by his question.
Will you marry me?
It's rushed, nearly slurred, full of doubt and sounding more like a statement rather than a question, but when you freeze and flick your eyes to him, he only furrows his brows and looks angry. Truthfully, he'd been planning on asking you for months - marriage was on his mind embarrassingly early into his infatuation with you, though he'd never made any action to make you believe so.
He has a cold exterior and is outwardly brash and rude to those around him, but he's still the young, caring, gentle boy he once was - and when he's with you, ever protective instinct long buried from his childhood comes back in full force, urging and begging him to wrap his arms around you and protect you from each and every horrible thing in this world.
(And, of course, so that he can feel you - your heart beating against his chest, your breaths tickling his hair, your soft body pressing flush against his own, so opposite to his own scarred, calloused skin.)
And so, when you eventually tell him yes after a very, very long period of silence, Sanemi can only nod and chance a glance at you, a small pink rising to his cheeks because fuck, somehow you're even prettier now, like you're practically glowing, like you're practically his - and now, you are.
He's a lot more gentle to you after you accept his proposal - he's always treated you like you're made of glass, but his touches are even more feather-light now, his voice noticeably softer, his eyes noticeably wider when they follow your every move, this shy, boyish smile slotting onto his lips when he sees you humming to yourself or reaching for something on a high shelf or sleeping soundly in what is now your shared bed.
Marriage domesticates him, and while he's still obsessively checking your health and forcing you to report what you did every moment he's not at home with you, he's different. Softer, happier, needier.
Tengen Uzui pops the question early. Extremely early. The idea of marriage is no foreign concept to him - and as his darling, you are also, by default, his wives' darling. And so, while Tengen alone is overwhelming with his flirtations and overprotectiveness, it's something else entirely to have three other people also doting on you, keeping a careful eye on you and making sure you're always, always out of danger's way and never having a moment of privacy to yourself.
And so, while Tengen is the one who actually asks for your hand, all of the wives are dropping hints and not-so-subtly mentioning how things will be once you're an official wife, too. It's always when you're their wife, not if - and they're not shy about it.
Hinatsuru will be standing behind you while you sit at the vanity, brushing her fingers over your hair and smiling down at you, pink sitting high on her cheeks while she tells you that Master Tengen will buy you the most lovely dress for the ceremony, Makio and I have already picked it out. You'll look so very beautiful, though you always do.
Suma will clutch onto your arm and beg you to do her vows first, to tell her that she's pretty and sweet and beautiful and perfect and exactly your type.
Makio will swat your hand away from sweets when she thinks you've had enough, telling you with a pout that you must stay healthy and not grow a stomachache, I saw the ring in Master Tengen's room early this morning and the whole moment will be ruined if you've eaten yourself into illness!
(Of course, you're allowed to have more sweets if she feeds them to you, but this is just a technicality.)
And Tengen himself is even not particularly subtle about the whole ordeal - he'll wrap an arm around you and plant a kiss to the crown of your head, telling you that the proposal will be quite extravagant, I can't wait to see your face!
Marriage has always been an assumed milestone that you will complete with the Uzuis - it's only a matter of time, and even if you say no over and over again, you will end up their spouse, one way or another.
(It's been such an ingrained concept in their minds, of course, that even before they stole you away, more than one night was spent with all four in bed, each imagining you on your wedding night, laying in silk fabrics with four wedding rings glistening on your fingers and your face all twisted up in ecstasy and their names tumbling form your lips like some sort of prayer...)
Mitsuri Kanroji and Obanai Iguro are both partial to the idea of marrying you, but Mitsuri is considerably more likely to make it a reality.
Obanai wants to wed you, to call you both his wives, to share your bed every night and to know that you're his. But there's still lingering fear and self-resentment that bars him from ever actually asking you simply because he thinks he doesn't deserve someone like you. You're utterly perfect - divine in a way that's hard to stomach, as if the air is being sucked out of his lungs every time he so much as glances at you. He's shy, frankly, and afraid to confront his own feelings, and so it's left to Mitsuri to make your marriage a reality.
And oh, she doesn't mind this responsibility at all - marriage plans are happening early on, her brain filled to the brim with ideas of different color schemes, which flowers to use, which songs to play, even which undergarments to have you wear to make undressing you even sweeter.
She's daydreaming about it near constantly, and similarly to Uzui, she's not particularly great at keeping it a secret. She doesn't purposefully blurt out how good you'd look in a particular dress style, but when she sees you, her brain turns to mush and it's like she has no control of her words.
(Or her actions, it seems, because she'll always, always greet you with a hug that's just a bit too long, your body pressed flush and tight against her own in a way that feels too purposeful to be innocent.)
So as their darling, marriage is likely in the cards - but contrary to others on this list, Obanai will persuade Mitsuri to actually take your wishes into considerations as far as decorations or style goes - you get to choose your wedding dress and the food that's served (Mitsuri's only stipulation is that there is a lot), along with most other personal items you wear/interact with.
So from that aspect, marriage actually doesn't sound too bad with them - the only unfortunate portion is that you're marrying your captors, of course, and the vows. They're long and sappy and extremely detailed, sharing facts you weren't previously aware of but really shouldn't surprise you - admittance of stalking you, stealing some of your clothing or personal items, even to sometimes tampering with your food just to make things 'taste better'.
It's hard to stomach and it's things you really already knew in your heart, but it's hard to hear it nonetheless - especially when it's spun in such a way as to sound romantic, as if it's some testament to their love for you - pretend to be wooed, or things will get ugly. And you wouldn't want your wedding night to be forceful and rough, now would you?
And then of course there's the demons, who have a very, very wide variety of opinions regarding the topic of marriage.
For Muzan Kibutsuji, the context in which his obsession developed is extremely key to how he feels about marrying you.
Most likely, you were some human he came into contact with frequently during one of his many false human aliases. He finds you annoying at first, of course, deeming you as horribly pathetic and someone literally not even worthy of his time to consider, but then one day something changes - some small act of kindness or defiance that piques his interest, and suddenly he's finding himself idly thinking of you, noticing you amongst the crowd, recognizing your scent even in crowded spaces.
And he doesn't like it. At all.
It takes him a very long time to navigate his feelings for you - he's intrigued and feels this strange, carnal urge to be around you, but he's also disgusted and angry and irritated that you have this control over him. And so, it's most likely that he won't marry you - the anger and possessiveness he feels for you will likely overwhelm him and lead to him kidnapping you, and once you're stuck with him, under his thumb, what's the point of marrying you?
You're his, the possession of the Demon King - what are you going to do? Run away? Try to fight him? (Some part of him wishes you would, just so he could punish you, just so he could pin you down and see those pretty tears roll down your cheeks, just so that for one solitary moment, you're looking at only him and thinking of only him and seeing only him.)
He doesn't see the point in marrying you if this is the route his obsession takes - the only benefit is making you more complacent, which isn't too much of an issue anyways because Muzan makes it clear from the very beginning that he's in charge.
If you were to catch his attention in another way (say, if he'd chosen to get close to you for a strategic reason - perhaps you're the daughter of some important figure or a powerful merchant), then he'd intend to marry you. It'd been the plan from the beginning, but once he gets to know you and decides that you aren't absolutely abhorrant, the marriage becomes less of a chore and more something that pleases him, because now you're his.
Tied to him, irrevocably his property that no man will ever touch. It quells his possessiveness and strokes his ego, all the while he'll tell that it's your duty to provide your husband with your heart, body, and soul - the smirk that curls onto his lip when he pins you down is hard to miss, as is the way he sneers out show me how devoted you are to your husband.)
Kokushibo is traditional. He's a fan of power structures and order, and while he doesn't necessarily believe that women are weaker (he doesn't respect Daki, but he can admit that she isn't horribly weak), he does believe that women are incomplete without a male partner. It's a sexist view and a product of his left-over human morals from many centuries earlier, but it stands strong in his relationship with you.
Similarly to most other demons, he doesn't really view you as a partner - you're his, his possession, a human that he finds himself oddly fascinated with despite himself. And so, he doesn't really care about your opinion in the matter of marriage - you're his woman, and he'll marry you.
It's about possession, not romance - he's certainly not bound by any laws, but marrying you might get you to realize the extent to which he owns you, the extent to which he's in charge of every aspect of your life. And the traditional values don't simply stop at the idea of marriage - they bleed into marriage as a concept, too.
He has strong opinions about what you should be wearing, how you should be acting, how the ceremony itself should be run. He's a bit domineering, and while he does hold a feeling as close to love as demons can have, it manifests itself mostly as controlling behavior.
He's running the ceremony, essentially, and it's extremely small - you're both in attendance of course, as are his fellow Upper Moons, but that's the extent. It's small, quick, and seamless, and before you know it you'll be back in the small, remote cabin he keeps you in, his form standing in the doorway and the room entirely silent.
He's controlling and doesn't fully view you as a person, but it's in moments of intimacy that just a sliver of his humanity comes crawling through, because no matter how badly he wishes to, he simply can't allow himself to touch you without your approval. He doesn't enjoy the sight of you crying, and he's internally conflicted about what the wedding night should look like. He should be fucking you, claiming you as his in the most primal and natural way a husband can, but you'll start sobbing again, and he doesn't want that. And so, instead, he compromises by simply holding you, his voice monotone as he tells you we can make love, if you'd wish.
It's awfully open-ended, and if you were to take him up on the opportunity, he'd be overjoyed - you'll find yourself waking up the next morning with a new kimono laid out on the bed, a small note written in extremely neat, near-perfect handwriting: a gift for my wife.
He's a bit of a sap, though it's hard to see - he'd never admit, either.
Douma doesn't have any particular desire to marry you, but he is admittedly intrigued by the idea.
It doesn't even cross his mind until one of his followers mentions something offhandedly about when the leader will marry his clearly favorite follower, and it gets him thinking. Marriage seems pointless, really, but humans do seem to like it, and he does like it when you smile and when you look at him all shocked and flustered.
And so, he considers the idea and decides that maybe he should do it - it'll force you to be closer to him, which is never a bad thing, and perhaps it will finally deter all other cult members from getting close to you in any way.
(Not that any of them are currently - they all know that you're Douma's, that you're staunchly off-limits. They know that everyone who approaches you disappears, and while Douma writes it off as a coincidence, it still leaves most people wary of your presence. But still - Douma likes the idea, his possessiveness quelling and his excitement sky-rocketing because it means he'll be all you have, and therefore you'll have to give him all the attention he craves from you.)
He pops the question in a not-at-all romantic setting, but he does gently cup your chin, tilting your head to look at him, those flashy eyes of his sparkling as he asks you whether you'd like to be my wife? He can't help the sigh he lets out at your bashful expression, the sound seeming much, much too high pitched to be normal (mimicking something more akin to a moan), and when you stutter out a y-yes, I would like to, Douma is pleased beyond words. It strokes his ego that you said yes, that you clearly want him, and he's quick to get the preparations rolling.
The wedding is extravagant and honestly way too much, but Douma wants everything to be over the top. The entire cult is in attendance, your dress has a train that drags a few feet behind you, and the flowers are such a vibrant red that it almost looks like they're stained with blood. The ring is simple, surprisingly, and the look in his eye is borderline psychotic as he slips the ring onto your finger.
And when he dips you for your first kiss as a married couple, he'll linger at your ear, sharp teeth grazing the shell as he whispers that you're mine, pretty, so don't run.
Akaza doesn't feel any need to marry you, surprisingly. He's another who has a difficult time rationalizing his feelings for you, simply because his view of humans being weak is difficult to move past.
He does, however, respect women significantly more than the other demons discussed in this post - and not only does he respect you, but he's genuinely the closest to being an absolute simp that a flesh-eating creature can be.
He's a bit rough around the edges and a bit abrasive, but he absolutely spoils you. You're getting high-end clothing and accessories, the best foods he can find in the local villages he slaughters, all kinds of trinkets and things that caught his eye and made him think of you.
He lives to see your smile, feeling this weird sense of accomplishment and self-satisfaction when you're pleased. And so, if you expressed some desire in getting married, Akaza would happily oblige, feeling only the tiniest bit of embarrassment. He's a bit clueless, however, so if you were serious about marriage you'd need to do all the planning. He'll let you dress however you want, whatever decorations and color themes, and he'll even let you choose which forest clearing the ceremony happens in.
(He won't allow you in any human establishments, even if you beg - he can't stand the thought of another person looking at you, and even if the entire village was killed before the ceremony, he's not willing to risk anything ruining the day he wants to be absolutely perfect for you.)
His vows are a bit choppy, the raw emotion on his face difficult to miss, though the words are more disturbing than sweet. There's talk of how he'd kill for you, proclamations of the extent to which he'd go for you - even detailing the murder of a man he'd noticed wash staring at you in a derogatory and objectifying way early on into his obsession when he was stalking you one day.
And when the infamous kiss occurs, he kisses you hard - his tongue is in your mouth and he's dipping you so deeply that your back is fully arched, and he keeps pressing into you harder and harder and harder, as if trying to bridge any little bit of space between you.
He wants you to be happy, and while he's not willing to let you go, he'll (somewhat) accommodate to your desires - so if you want something, just tell him.
(Especially when it comes to your pleasure - your wedding night will be much, much smoother if you guide him through your pleasure. After all, he'll do absolutely anything you want if it means seeing you pretty face when you come for him.)
Gyuutaro harbors a surprising amount of romantic fantasies between you and him. Of course, he'd never admit it, but he's frequently daydreamed about marrying you. Even during his human years, marriage wasn't too prevalent in the area he grew up.
(He's very familiar with sex and companionship work, but marriage? Not so much.)
Even so, he understands that marriage is the ultimate sign of love in the human world, and as his obsession with you grows deeper and stronger, so too do his fantasies of living through every human milestone of a happy relationship. He wants it so very badly; he wants you to want him, to love him and cherish him in a way that makes him scratch at his neck and warble on about how he's too ugly to be loved.
He wants you to want him - and so, after a few years of being stuck under his thumb, slowly letting the Stockholm Syndrome build and shatter your concept of reality, he'll pop the question. It's harsh and defensive, as if he's absolutely convinced you'll say no even before he's asked - his voice is sharp and whiny as he asks you if you'd like to marry a monster like me? What do you say, eh? Could you stomach marrying something so disgusting and ugly as me?
It's disguised as a self-deprecating comment, but the way he waits on edge for your response will tell you that he's very, very interested in your answer. Every muscle in his body is taut and tight, tension eating away at his stomach because oh god he's nervous, even as embarrassing as it is to admit.
If you say no he'll close himself off, berating you and telling you that you're judgmental, that you're no different from the hundreds of humans who only care about looks and beauty. His words are cruel and harsh and they hurt, but he doesn't mean them - he's just lashing out because he's hurt and doesn't know how else to express his pain.
But oh, if you say yes? Well, Gyuutaro's suddenly scratching himself hard, finding it difficult to maintain eye contact with you, a flustered feeling rising up his throat and nearly making him sick because god, is this what acceptance and love feel like?
The wedding itself is a bit half-assed, though he tried it best - his tastes are built upon the very little he knows about human weddings. But despite the fact that everything is a little dirty and the dress you're wearing doesn't fit you correctly, there's something about the way Gyutaro's hands are shaking as he hands you the ring that's almost, almost endearing - he resembles a shy, awkward boy rather than the man-eating captor he actually is.
And that night, he'll spend hours worshipping your body, pouring over every detail and scar and mole and committing it all to memory - committing you to memory, though he really doesn't need to because he'll be turning you into a demon soon so that you never leave him.
But still, it's the principle - and when he fucks you, with a voice that's especially high and a pace that's sloppy at best, you'll be able to feel what your marriage means to him - the way he moans when he sees the ring on your finger tells you as much.
So anon, long story short: they all feel a little different, but most are happy to marry you. It's a product of the time, yes, but also just another way to bind you to them - something they will not pass up.
So who would you marry? Choose carefully - because once you say 'I do', you're absolutely trapped.

“We can have her take the team east next time, maybe the ground will be better.” Jake looked at the table pointing at a map. The three of you had just led a successful battle against the RDA, picking up more medical supplies and equipment that the Omaticaya could use.
You stood outside of the tree, wiping your face clear of tears. One glance at your thigh, and you winced seeing the large bruise that had formed. You had been shot, not by a normal gun, but a tracker, and it was only now affecting you.
“If you are hit with this, you are marked for death!” You remember Jake yelling.
Telling them would only lead to more trouble, maybe even anger. You couldn't stomach both your lovers being angry, nor blaming you for the battle that just occurred. Jake had already given you a lecture earlier about your performance with the sky team, and you could only take so much.
The only option was to leave. Get far away from hometree and the forest to make sure no more Omaticaya were injured. Jake had made his amends with Eywa and the people, now it was your turn.
You silently walked into the room, smelling the fresh aroma of stew that was cooking. As much as you would’ve liked to sit and eat with your lovers for the last time, you couldn’t. You avoided eye contact with the both of them, hoping they wouldn't notice you.
“Hey babe how ya feelin?” Jake greeted. But you ignored him, walking right past him and climbing up a few branches to get to your hammock. Jake looked at Tonowari, and he shrugged. “Well dinner is ready…if you…” He trailed off knowing that you weren’t gonna turn around.
“She may be tired.” Tonowari suggested. Jake nodded. It was a hard day for the three of you, and he was being a hardass earlier. Normally, he would pester you, but this time he knew it would be best to leave you until morning. A good night's sleep could fix anything.
You laid in your hammock with your back towards the other empty ones, eyes wide open, waiting on the two of them to come along. Hours passed before Tonowari bed himself, then soon after Jake came along. You listened to their soft shuffles and their breathing patterns as they attempted to get comfortable without waking you.
More time passed and you finally heard snoring, meaning that they were asleep. You climbed out of your hammock and snuck downstairs, grabbing a small satchel and packing knives, food, and medical supplies you would need. You bunched up a lot of blankets and placed them into your hammock, hoping it would give you more running time. You cried as you packed up your bag, knowing that this is how you would leave them. And if they did see you again, you would be long gone.
You looked around one more time, at the home you created with your two lovers, and sighed.
One last thing.
You grabbed a spare sheet of paper and wrote on it.
Protect the People.
It didn't take much to sneak from the home tree and get through the village unnoticed. The hour was late, and it was rare for any threats, human or creature to come around at this time. You made your way to the nearby mountain where the Ikrans rested when they wanted to be alone. You spotted yours, laying on a rock and waiting as if she was expecting you.
“We gotta go sweets.” You ran your hand along her snout.
Climbing on, you connected your tail to your Ikran and hooted, flying away and leaving your home behind.
---
Tonowari stirred awake, shooting straight from his hammock having had a dream concerning you. He looked over at your sleeping figure, immediately sighing seeing that you were safe and sound near them. But something was off. He sat still, attempting to focus his eyes so he could see your shoulders rise as you slept, but you didn't move. He climbed out his hammock and ran over to yours, pulling back the large blanket and seeing a bundle of others falling to the ground.
“Jake!” He yelled.
Jake jerked from his hammock and groaned. He looked over at his friend, before trailing his eyes to the ground where the bundle of blankets rested. “Y/n!” He called out, climbing out the hammock and walking downstairs. He'd hope to see you in the kitchen making food, but the room was almost cleaned out of your belongings. Jake now woke up, realizing the severity of the situation.
“Wari, where is she?!”
“I don't know.” He came walking down the stairs, equally shocked at the empty room.
Jake spotted the white folded paper on the table, quickly rushing over and picking it up. “Protect the people?” He muttered.
Tonowari began suiting up, throwing his belt around his waist and grabbing his own satchel. “I'm going!” He began walking out the room, leaving Jake behind.
---
The sun had begun to rise, and your thigh was killing you. Every once in a while a sharp pain would pulse throughout your leg, causing you and your Ikran to jerk to the side, screaming out loud. The pain became too much, and you had to land.
“I'm okay. I'm okay.” You reassured yourself. You scooted against the tree and took a look at your thigh, seeing the skin was now raised and the bruising had begun to spread. “No!” You slammed your head against the tree bark, knowing what you had to do.
“Look away.” You hissed at your Ikran.
You grabbed your satchel and dug through it until you found a knife, a circular one used for wood carving. You poked your finger at the tip, drawing a bit of blood from the sharpness. You gulped, and took the handle of your satchel, biting down on the leather band and clenching. A fear tears slipped from your eyes. You were scared, afraid of the pain, the infection, or death that would come after.
Your hands shook as you took the blade in your hand, inching it closer to your thigh. “Come on.” You coaxed yourself. “Come on!” You sucked in a breath and plunged the knife into your thigh, screaming as you pushed the blade deep into your flesh. Blood began spurting out, leaking down the tree branch you sat on. “Fuck!” You gritted, finally hitting the metal object with the tip of the blade. “A little more. A little more.” You coaxed yourself. Here comes the worst part.
You twisted the knife, hooking the blade into your muscle surrounding the object, and pulled outwards, slicing your leg even more. You screamed out loud, dropping the satchel and clenching in shock. Your leg throbbed, and your hand began to slip from the handle of the knife. Your wound stretched the more you pulled the knife. “EYWA HELP ME, Help me!” You screamed once more before the knife and pill-like object left your leg.
You dropped the knife immediately, looking at the tracker with hazy eyes as you began to lose consciousness. You raised your hand, seeing that it was no longer blue as blood coated your hand and forearm. You blinked once. Twice. Gone.
---
Jake's eyes searched frantically, looking all through the forest for you. They passed through territories of different clans and regions looking for you.
“I think we're close.” Tonowari called out.
Jake nodded, feeling you, and smelling you getting closer. “Dive!” He yelled out, immediately banking downwards to get a better sense of where you were. Tonowari dived as well, dropping below the tree line to get closer to the ground. “Jake!” He yelled.
Jake flew to his friend, seeing that he had landed and perched his Ikran. “I smell her. But I also smell blood.”
Jake's face went pale and he nodded.
“Don't panic. It might not be hers.” Tonowari attempted to stay optimistic.
The two of them suited up, grabbing their bows and spears and began walking through the forest. “Y/n!” They both called out, hoping they would hear you somehow. In the distance they heard a screeching. Your Ikran.
They began running forward, not caring whether or not they left each other behind or not. They finally broke into an opening, where your Ikran sat perched on a rock, screaming up into the air. It spotted the two na’vi, and nodded its head over.
“No.”
The sight was gorey, you slumped over on a tree branch unconscious with blood everywhere. Tonowari dropped his spear and ran over, snatching you up and holding you in his arms. “Hey! Hey! Get up! Hey!”
You heard the muffled sounds of their yelling, but couldn't find the strength to get up.
“Move! Move!” You heard Jake shuffling around. “Stay with us, you hear me? Don't you fucking dare!”
---
Your eyes fluttered open, and you saw nothing but the sky, with trees surrounding you. Slowly, your hand trailed down to your thigh, where you hissed feeling a large gauze in place of your wound. “We stitched you up.” You heard a familiar voice. Your eyes snapped to the side and you saw Tonowari, sitting right next to you with his hand wrapped in yours.
“Oh Y/n.” He pulled you up, and startled you with a passionate kiss. You said nothing, but kissed him back, running your spare hand up his arm. “Do you know how badly you scared us!” He scolded.
You looked to the other side and saw Jake holding the tracker in his hand, inspecting it closely as it beeped in his hand. His eyes trailed to look at you, wrinkles dissipating as his expression softened. He threw the tracker down and stepped on it, breaking the item as he walked over to you.
“How did you find me?”
Jake grabbed his tail and held it up, “We are bonded for life, we will always find you.”
You sighed, feeling the tensity.
“Why did you leave?” He asked.
“To protect you guys, and the people.” You admitted. “I wasn't going to be the reason everyone got killed.”
“That's our job!” Tonowari hissed. “We protect you! We protect the people! Not abandon them when needed most.”
“I was shot!” You yelled back. “I was hit with a tracker two missions ago.” You silently said. The two men fell silent as you began crying. “I didn't think…I didn't think it meant anything until you said that the other clan got attacked, then the two of you….” You looked at their scar filled arms and choked. “I'm the only explanation for the latest attack. I had to leave before they found us for real.”
Jake wiped the tears from your face and muttered. It's not your fault. It's not on you sweetheart. Look at me.” He pulled you to face him instead of Tonowari. “I betrayed the RDA over a decade ago. Whatever they wanted, it was me, even without the tracker, they would've come.”
Tonowari ran his hand along your forehead. “The issue comes from you running away. Have we neglected you so that you ran to the forest and nearly killed yourself?” He huffed.
You shook your head. “No…no Wari the two of you….I just didn't want you two to be angry.”
“Angry.” Jake scoffed. “You could've marched in the village with hundreds of RDA soldiers behind you and we would still be deeply in love with you.”
You looked at Tonowari who nodded, holding back tears of his own. “I would rather deal with you working for the enemy than find you in the forest half dead like this.” Tonowari said.
“I'm sorry.”
“Don't apologize sweetheart.” Tonowari pulled you into his chest and rocked you, placing a kiss on your head.
“You lost a lot of blood but we stitched you up as best as we can.” Jake said. “We're gonna get you home, get you fixed right on up.”
You sniffled and nodded, turning back so you could lay flat on the ground. “You're okay Y/n.” Jake placed his hand on your stomach.
“You'll be just alright.”

HC: The Way He Loves - Chevalier
xReader
General headcanons on love language, preferences, and displays of affection. (? I suppose? Just my ramblings).
Content Warnings: none
Chevalier
Receiving
He enjoys hearing his lover's thoughts -- whatever it is you may be wishing to do to him, things that inconvenience you, any concerns you have. It is true that he'd probably be able to make educated guesses on all of those... But it is different when somebody talks to him, is it not? Humans do that; beasts do not.
It shows Chevalier that you aren't afraid of him, that you want to connect with him and do not wish to rely on him to just know everything. He needs all of that, he needs to see that to you, he isn't some sort of brutal monster, that you can exist on equal grounds. He may be a genius, but what is idealisation if not another form of dehumanisation?
Chevalier likes being told that you love him, even though he cannot say he has ever expected for anybody to voice those thoughts, or to even have them in the first place. He may not be as vocal in return, but... he craves it, even though he does not doubt you. It's a hunger he has long forgotten about, and now that he is aware of it again, he needs to satiate it.
Overall, things Chevalier wants generally aren't material possessions -- or much rather, they cannot be simply bought.
He has money. He has influence. He has servants. If he wanted to own something -- or, perhaps, somebody -- he could most definitely obtain that. However, the genuine care behind the gesture is something that cannot be faked.
Chevalier wants to be wanted, not feared! Surely, he could eat the most delicious food every day, he could enjoy good quality goods, but... that's a service, something provided to anybody regardless of one's personal opinions. It is different when you take the time out of your day to really consider what it is that he may want, then put effort into making the best achievable version of it. Just for him, out of care for him specifically. It doesn't need to be perfect, for it is already irreplaceable. There are very few people who'd ever want to go through that entire ordeal when not obliged to.
He enjoys it when you wake him up. He enjoys it when you come to see him. He enjoys it when you smile around him, when you play into his teasing, when you fall asleep in his arms, when you peck his cheek, when you recommend him books, when you remember little details about him and use them later, when you miss him. Chevalier just... likes being treated like a normal person, with his quirks and imperfections.
Giving
Chevalier's love is very practical.
He is not going to serenade you, or to shower you with flowers, or to whisk you away for some thrilling outing. You will not elope. Chevalier won't marry you if he deems it as premature.
His love is not huge declarations that cause one's blood to rush, it is not exciting ups, daydreaming and shouted promises... What it is, is a fire that burns steadily, keeping you warm and sheltering you from the dark.
Chevalier's love is reliable. It is supportive, but not suffocating. He will look out for you, he will be there to offer you his hand when you need it, but he will not coddle you. He will do his upmost to ensure that you can share a future together, that the burdens he has to carry will not break you. He will not rush you, he will not promise you the impossible, he will have you know exactly what you're signing yourself up for before you do anything.
And if you decide you cannot do it? He will let you go... Just once. Because he isn't as selfish as to force you to stay, but he won't allow himself to be toyed with either.
Chevalier will not needlessly spoil you, but if something is outside of your financial reach, and you truly want it, he will go out of his way to get it for you.
His gifts are thoughtful -- it's never just something expensive, or otherwise lavish. It may not even be physical, but you are guaranteed to enjoy it, for it to be tailored to you specifically, for it to help you with bettering yourself, or for it to aid you in achieving your ambitions.
On that note, Chevalier is very detail-oriented. His memory is excellent, and he makes a conscious effort to analyse what it is that you like.
Chevalier respects you, and everything that makes you, well, you. Even if your values do not make much sense for him, he will seriously consider them. You will not be plainly dismissed. In a way, the fact that he allows for himself to change for your sake is also a display of his affection.
That "changing" includes learning about and engaging in things he previously considered as useless. His time is limited, but you are worth it.
Chevalier will have you know that you are good enough for him, but he will not tell you to settle. Improve. Grow. He will watch, he will wait, all while loving you.

I would like the sons and bowlers thoughts please
Under the cut bc it’s soooo long lmao
Things in sons and bowlers that make me crazy (in no particular order)
1)The idea that daniel pierce shields hawkeye from things that he thinks will hurt him psychologically and actively tries to distract him with kindness/good things i.e. making him elaborate breakfasts while his mom was dying in the hospital and downplaying the extent of her illness. I think this is so interesting bc we’ve often seen hawkeye deflect with jokes/go out of his way to help people inside and outside of OR and make sacrifices to do so/ downplay the extent of his own pain/trauma in order to avoid inconveniencing people and the idea that this is a behavior he learned as a child, way before the war is a major clue to the events in GFA
He doesn’t deal with his trauma, he minimizes it to the point of repression and convinces himself things are alright! He’s become his father! That blows my mind idk
2) hawkeye just has his dad and his dad just has him! We saw in where there’s a will that he leaves everything to his father but this really drives home how much hawkeye loves his dad. Like i think part of why this makes me crazy is that i have daddy/mommy issues but i feel like for hawkeye this is a big character beat that people overlook. He’s not like the others at the unit in that they all have families/career aspirations/grounded support systems to return to and for hawkeye all he’s got is his dad and he really finds his support system in the MASH…and yeah he’s a workaholic and a brilliant surgeon but he’s also the kind of person who thrives on human connection and cannot live without his connections to those around him. Like hawkeye is all heart AGH what happens when someone like that is removed from a place where they formed deep connections?
Also the fact that he’s like iv’e said ily but what if he doesnt know i mean it like man u really don’t expect people to listen to what u say
3) back on daniel, sorry but i love food/mealtime/cooking themes with hawkeye too and the fact that shared, homemade breakfasts were his father’s symbol of love and protection just makes the absence of good food at the MASH even more devastating. I also see hawkeye as someone who can disassociate from his body easily (the drinking, the sleeping around, the constant sniffing of food/not eating if it isn’t appetizing/ going long periods without sleep and insomnia, the manic episodes/psych problems) so the reconnection of family to food is important here too! Like i’m going to get to charles but the fact that he tells the story about feeling tested at dinner and his related food associations, i think it’s really telling that in contrast we get hawkeye and daniel talking about the good times they had eating dinner together
4) brief margaret tangent i like that this is a reversal of the early seasons trope of her sleeping with someone for some plot/ulterior motive and now when potter asks her if she’ll do that she’s like fuck off and then uses the guy for bowling tips and not sex lol i just think it’s a succient way to show her development over time and i also love when she gets to do sporty/more traditionally masculine things and not be dunked on for it
5) bj and charles scheming idk i love this in any episode i like that they bring out the evil asshole in each other i find it funny and charming they’re my faves for a reason i think dos and mike are both soooo talented
6) the contrast between charles’ home life and hawkeye’s and how thats shaped them. i ‘m really interested in the similarities between charles and hawk i think they have similar backgrounds and similar drive/talent/pressure to be surgeons and be the best at what they do/similarly desperate desire for connection with people/to art and music and theater etc. and they can be similarly overconfident/stubborn it just manifests so differently in their behaviors. I feel like this is one of the few times we see them acknowledge each other as people and put aside their differences in order to support each other idk u know i love a charles plotline im human
7) speaking of supporting people! Also crazy about bj’s progressive loss of the ability to provide hawkeye with emotional support and here he doesn’t even know hawkeye was struggling bc hawkeye’s like don’t tell anyone ! he doesn’t want to tell his best friend his problems bc bj doesn’t help him with things like that. And in fact telling bj might be something that sets bj off further like every day this man’s mental health is crumbling he’s hanging on by a thread and hawkeye knows this, more finale set up that’s so subtly done i love it
7.5) also the fact that if daniel’s surgery had gone badly this would be another hawkeye doesn’t get a real goodbye situation (.i.e his mom, trapper, henry, carlye, tommy, kyung hee, bj etc.) whyyyy do they do this
8) there’s bowling like come on are u serious i love bowling and they’re so cute bowling

Superman: An Outsider Among the Justice League? (Inspired by Superman vs. Meshi)
This post is also on my independent blog, Small Screen Superman - go there for an even better experience!
Superman vs. Meshi is an official Superman manga that I greatly enjoy – not just because it’s cute, funny and well-drawn, but also because its depiction of Superman is actually really interesting. Like most of my favored depictions of him, he’s very humanized and very personable. It makes sense to focus on this side of him in this manga considering the book has a very human, small-scale focus: each chapter is a short story about Superman going to lunch in Japan, with lots of descriptions of the food he’s eating. There’s nothing too exciting going on – in fact, it’s implied that Superman has apparently done such a good job in this universe that the whole world is fairly peaceful. But the manga is far from boring, at least to this Super fan. I really enjoy getting to know this version of Superman, and it’s also surprisingly fun to read the detailed descriptions of Japanese food – they always sound quite delicious and bring back good memories of any times I’ve had similar food.
But more to the point, let’s talk about a specific trait of this Superman that is somewhat rare among Superman depictions. In Chapter 3, he meets with the Justice League and does some introspection about his relationship with them. I’ll go ahead and share the relevant pages.
There’s a lot to talk about in these three short pages, but the main thrust of it is that Superman doesn’t feel like he really belongs in the Justice League. That’s not what people expect from Superman. Superman is supposed to be the friendly and confident guy that everyone gets along with and looks up to, especially his fellow superheroes. He’s one of the first characters, if not the first, anyone thinks of when they think about the Justice League. So naturally, it makes sense that he would fit in with them perfectly – in fact, he should define what it means to be a Justice League member. Right? Well, not necessarily, in my opinion.
Now, let me be clear: I don’t think there’s such a thing as the “right” or “true” or “correct” version of Superman, since he’s a fictional character who has been portrayed in a wide variety of different ways. But an aspect of him that has showed up in many forms over the years is the idea of him being a bit of a self-contradiction in terms of his connection with others. He has many friends and allies, yet somehow has a sense of loneliness to him too. He’s different from others – an alien from a now nonexistent planet and either the last of his kind or one of only a handful of surviving Kryptonians. And the mere fact of being a superhero who has to keep a secret identity disconnects him from the majority of people.
Now, it does seem natural that therefore, perhaps Superman might be able to connect with other superheroes more easily than other people because they know what it’s like to be a superhero. But there are reasons this might not be the case, which makes me think this is a reasonable direction for the character. I’m going to be talking in generalities and across continuities looking for reasons why this can mesh with traits generally given to Superman.
Superman’s Origin
Most superheroes, including those in the Justice League, started as normal humans, and became superheroes because of an unexpected event. You could maybe interpret this as applying to Superman in terms of Krypton’s explosion being the unexpected event that “gave him powers” by leading to him being sent to a planet with a yellow sun, but I think this is a bit of a stretch.
As far as Clark’s life goes, there are many times he’s not depicted as having all his powers from the get-go and instead needing to grow in order to get them. This still feels pretty different from starting as a normal human and getting your powers from something external. In a way, Superman is fundamentally different from the majority of Earth’s population in a way that most superheroes are not, due to not being human and never having been human.
And yet, on a psychological and personal level, it’s perhaps more accurate to say Superman is human…but he might not be perceived as such by people who see him as Superman rather than Clark Kent. This leads me to perhaps a more important divide between Superman and his fellow heroes.
How Superman is Perceived and Revered
Superman is almost always perceived as a really big deal even among superheroes. Is he THE first, most honorable, most successful, most popular, most powerful superhero in every universe? Not necessarily, but his perception is something like that. And I think those expectations might have the potential to make things more difficult for Superman. People probably assume that they can’t relate to Superman before they even try to get to know him. Even accomplished, powerful superheroes don’t necessarily see him as a peer, but as someone above them.
What’s also awkward is that Superman doesn’t see himself this way – he’s generally confident, but humble. And he lives much of his life not reveling in his fame or power, but as a mild-mannered reporter. I see this a lot in those Superman vs. Meshi panels, and it warms my heart. But Superman knows it’s important to inspire others, including his fellow heroes, so while he’d want people to know that he doesn’t see himself as high above them, he might feel reluctant to shatter his myth altogether.
Seeing this awkwardness be overcome, possibly requiring character development from both Superman and the League members, could be a very satisfying story.
This might explain why Superman tends to have closer friendships with his fellow members of the “Trinity”, Batman and Wonder Woman. Since those two are also rather “legendary”, they aren’t as awed by Superman.
Superman is More Used to Working Alone (Well, Sometimes)
OK, this point is a bit dubious because Superman does work with other people and other heroes even outside the Justice League, but he’s at least closer to working alone than many other Justice League members (in most depictions). He may have “Super-Family Members”, but they’re somewhat independent from him – he doesn’t have long-term, “true” sidekicks. So maybe working with a lot of other superheroes doesn’t come naturally to him to the point it might be a bit awkward.
The big problem with this is…the Legion of Super-Heroes. If Superman was part of a superhero team when he was young, before even meeting the Justice League, than naturally it should be more normal to him, right? Of course, the Superman being part of the Legion as a teen is something that keeps coming into and leaving comics continuity, and it rarely makes its way out of the comics, so this isn’t even applicable to many versions of Superman.
Back to Superman vs. Meshi Real Quick
Before I conclude this article, I’m going to circle back to the manga that inspired it. It’s interesting how little relevance most of this article actually has to Superman vs. Meshi in particular. Unlike this article, Superman vs. Meshi didn’t seek to justify why Superman doesn’t fit in with the Justice League with detailed reasons based on the general traits of how he’s portrayed. It just did it rather casually, treating Superman as basically a normal guy. And I like that.
Still, I think it was worthwhile looking at some reasons why I don’t think this depiction of the Man of Steel is at odds with his character in general. I hope I can find more stories which depict Superman’s relationship with the Justice League in an interesting way. If you know of any, please feel free to let me know!

Hello! List 5 things that make you happy, then put this in the askbox for the last 10 people who reblogged something from you! Get to know your mutuals and followers :D
Hiii!
1 - The sky. I love how it changes, the colors, the stars, the clouds.
2 - Music. I can't live without it.
3 - Food. I love eating. It's not only pleasurable in a way that few things are, but it also makes me feel connected? Making food is an act of care. It doesn't appear put of nowhere. Someone cultivated, someone transported, someone cooked to get it to the table. And it also makes me feel part of nature. We are led to believe that humans are something else entirely, a thing that watches from the outside, instead of a part of nature. Eating and knowing that one day I'll be food for other life forms makes me feel connected to nature, even if I'm only but a tiny, minuscule part of it. It makes me happy knowing that I'm part of this ineffable (ha!) thing that we call life.
4 - Birds. I love them. They're everywhere, all the time, even if we don't notice them. I wake up and they are singing, I go to sleep and they are still there. I go to lunch and they're flying, ignoring everything else but the feeling of the air on their wings. Love them.
5 - Love. I love how we love. I love arriving at home and my cat running to meow at me and ask for pets. I love when my coworkers say good morning and ask how I am feeling. I love how my mom cares about me and bless me everyday. I love how we have fun, laugh and enjoy the company of one another. I love how we create things and share them, and are so expectant to see other reactions, to make them feel. I love how my brothers hug me. I love how the people in the bus stop expect to see me every morning, and how I expect to see them too. I love how I can love so much, so many things, and in such different ways. It makes me all happy :)
#ow i think i went a little bit too far in the answer lol#but its true#I'm not religious or believe in any god#i think this that we have is what exists#and i find joy only by being able to experience it#i find happiness in just by being here really#ask tag :)#random ramble

Lucemon Oc notes
He.. probs wont get a nickname. Not only am I bad with names but nothing really seems to stick. Possibly due to his pride he feels his name is fine as is?
Lucemon doesnt need to eat or sleep as much as a normal digimon. All Demon lords and Higher Beings like the great angels tend to be this way. He still naps and eats, but true need for sleep or food for fuel is less of a need, so he does it for his own enjoyment or whim.
He can transform back and forth to his child form, dons a scarf or some other garment and goes around as a scholar version of Lucemon child form. Once a way to sneak into other lands and spy, or manipulate as a more innocent looking form, he now enjoys it as a sort of vacation. He adores books, trying new things, and has a innate wanderlust, so this child form allows him just that with less worry about appearances or people acting differently.
When in child form he is more likely to fool around, joke, and generally be teasing, childish, and otherwise loses a lot of the danger and formality his Fallen self tends to stick to. And while he is still very powerful in his child form, he tends to skirt around conflict, preferring to focus on his healing abilities instead.
Food wise, his Fallen form tends to prefer fine dining, wine, delicacies, the nicely plated stuff.. half the time. His lower need for food and natural curiosity for the world will have him trying most things, or snacking periodically. Humans have tracked a lot of new foods into the digital world, and he is mostly willing to try samples of this or that. Hes found he doesnt like most sugary candy, and dislikes fermented foods, but otherwise has found likes and dislikes in most food categories. For the most part, he lets his human introduce him to different foods, trusting she knows good foods for him to sample and has figured out most of his preferences. He and Kara hold a little ritual of sorts, where they share tea and read together, or gaze out into the forest beyond his castle's windows and contemplate this or that. This bonding happens most often when there is Weather outside, like a rain or snowstorm, reflecting the night he (in child form) ad Kara first hit it off, and then later connected deeper after he had revealed his true Fallen form to her.
He dotes on his human, allowing her to tuck into his wings any time she wishes, and will simply settle in with a book if she ever falls asleep on him. There are many times he and Kara tend to be in thier own little world, regardless of what else is happening. Most know not to disturb them.
Lucemon can fulfill his urges to destroy and create by agressively gardening, modifying the landscape around his castle, or creating some new areas. He tends to store the data of differnt plants and material, dipping his fingers into the world or item and letting its digicode and digital wire frame show as he copies it, and then he simply can reuse the data set and material elsewhere, modifying as needed. This allows him to create fully grown gardens, prompt trees to grow differently, and other manipulations. His resltess destruction of previous worked areas and rebuilding them is something he also does when frustrated, but he will try not to mess with places Kara favors too much. He has several plant type digimon who tend the garden afterwards, but the creation and changing the landscaping is something he himself does.
He lets Kara in on this creation process too, always willing to look at photos from her cell phone of ideas she wants to try or things she likes, and will test it out if she wishes it. Included in ideas he has put in for keeps is a small cottage with a rippling brook near the corner of his vast gardens but still within castle grounds, with a garden to go with it with curving paths that allow illusions of privacy.

Is this over 500 words? I have no idea! But I couldn't send you the whole damn fic, so here (go let the stars watch)
He wipes his brow and listens to the silence. The cabin is far north enough that in the summer it never gets fully dark, and in winter it barely sees light, but it's well into spring now, so night still comes politely by in time for dinner.
He goes back into the house and uses the matches to set the fire going. The sat phone lies silent, charged now all the way to 100%. He goes and hides it in the bedroom, to avoid the temptation to endlessly check the connection, swaps it for the GPS, and goes to find something to eat.
In the kitchen the first cupboard he opens contains a heavy bottomed square glass in a fashionable ribbed pattern. Next to it he finds a bottle of brandy next to a bottle of cabernet sauvignon. The label is Yates, of course. There’s nothing Diana loves more than a callback.
The freezer has ice, and some whisky stones, and he takes one of each for the novelty, and sloshes the brandy over them, admiring how the cubes clink nicely against the thick glass.
He takes a deep drink, and considers the benefits of just keeping going, just pouring brandy into an empty stomach, consequences be damned.
The fridge contains all the ingredients for dinner: a package of premade meatballs that proclaim the pedigree and quality of the animals ground up for the consumer’s delectation, a large, hand formed block of butter studded with salt crystals, and a cabbage in rude health for the time of year. The cupboard produces some potatoes, onions, some dried herbs, a heel of dry bread and a single clove of garlic.
The message is clear; when in Sweden, make meatballs. Diana's always loved a stereotype, and they’re both known for their love for dramatic irony. He would hate to disappoint.
A bird outside trills evensong. Up this north, it startles him; they should not be here at this time of year.
He forces his hopes back down, thinking of the phone lying on the bed, unwatched. Takes another long drink and concentrates on making food, working through each step in his head to replicate a good meal he had a long time ago.
He makes a point of using every pan he gets a whim for using, focuses on doing everything properly, drawing on hints from every mission that started during dinner service in every fancy restaurant he’s ever ruined the reputation of.
He takes the time to caramelise the onions properly. It always takes longer than he thinks, even with his legendary patience, he almost gives up half way through and adds sugar, but instead forces himself to stir them until they’re sticky and sweet and stick to the bottom of the pan.
He sets the potatoes steaming rather than boiling, the way he prefers them, fluffy and bursting their skins but not waterlogged. He fries the cabbage in the butter gently until it's just cooked, translucent but not a hint of browning, a delicate balancing act of fat, salt and heat. In the cupboard he finds a tiny packet of fennel seeds and throws them in with the single clove of minced garlic, waits half a minute, and then then cranks the heat and sixty seconds later, it's done. He reuses that pan, no need to waste good brown butter, and throws in the meatballs, followed a few minutes later by a slug of brandy to deglaze the pan (followed by another slug for himself), and then it’s done. He plates it simply, taking his time, even wipes the rim of the place to keep the fiction going that there is a point to this, that he is happier this way than if it was just piled up, messy and with no style at all.
He never usually gets to cook. Even this last year, he relied on buying food in order to receive human contact, endlessly chasing the withdrawal from her voice in his ear with lesser qualities of humanity.
He eats his meal with the radio for company, tries to see if his Swedish is still serviceable, but they keep talking in English and it throws him off. It is delicious, and his body is starving after a day wading through snow, but asked with a gun to his head he probably wouldn’t be able to describe it in any detail once he’s done.
The sun has set, and there’s no television here, and he bought no laptop with him, travelled light save a change of clothes.
He decides to takes a shower for something to do and realises, standing naked in the good pressure, the steam curling around his body and condensing on the low ceiling, that he is drunk, and so he gives up pretending to control his thoughts and stays there until the hot water fades into lukewarm and then into tepid, and uses her soap, wishes it was scented in some way he could recognise. Even pressed to his nose it just smells of soap, of clean skin, and for a foolish moment he laments that he cannot use her shampoo and conditioner.
There isn't much else to the cabin. There's one bed, large and sturdy with serviceable well worn white sheets and heirloom woolen blankets. The pillows are unremarkable, not particularly soft, just goose feathers and cotton. There’s a dent in one, from her head, where she slept for however many nights without him. He thinks about the implications of it. That she faced away from the door as she slept, facing the large windows, vulnerable and yet sure of her own safety.
She knew he was coming, and chose to not be here.
He finds a pair of loose soft pajamas in a men's medium in the middle drawer of the dresser, warm and soft in the way things are when they still have the manufacturing residue on them, so they feel good under your fingers in the store. He finds the matching navy blue t-shirt in amongst her clothes, tucked in the corner, but unlike the trousers the shirt is worn but not artificially soft. When he pulls it over his head he’s overwhelmed with the scent of something warm under the laundry detergent, a smell that transports him back to a warm afternoon, triumph momentarily in his veins, rich soil beneath his feet, wine on his tongue and her in his arms, then everything flipped; the soil beneath his hands and knees, his whole world consumed with her, the last thing he ever expected to see.
He trusts her; there is always a reason for everything she does. There’s reason hiding in everything in this cabin if he can find it, solve it, tease out the meaning.
He walks back into the living room. The only other thing of note in the place is a sheepskin rug in front of the fire. It isn't your usual one, this has been well prepared with a proper underlay stitched into the skin so it doesn't go skidding on the wooden floors should you walk over it, or perhaps do other things on it. The implication coupled with the brandy makes him flush. He thinks of red on white, and for the first time in a while the mental image isn’t blood on snow.
He retunes the radio from general chatter until he finds the classical station and catches the first few notes of Dvorak's eighth, a perennial favourite, and after so many hours of forbidding it, he gives into the weakness that’s been lapping at his heels all afternoon, gives into being tired, well fed, tipsy and clean and lets his mind relax into yearning. He pours another large brandy and stands there until the final note rings and the applause begins, his bare toes dug into the thick pelt, eyes closed and barely listening, his mind ten-thousand miles away, dancing to a different song altogether.
Eventually, the applause fades away and some chamber music starts, and he has nowhere to go but sleep. Eventually, he has to climb into bed and so he takes the other side from the dented pillow, the side near the door. He lies there listening to the pops and crackle of the dying fire, and when it eventually sputters to silence, he stays awake watching the stars through the large windows, triple glazed to keep out the cold but preserve the view, and eventually gives into the needs of his body, and sleeps.
Okay so there is SO much in this excerpt! But I can tell you that the bit where 47 cooks meatballs was inspired by the time I went on holiday to the Gothenberg archipelago and was staying on Brännö in a little bed and breakfast and was the only guest since my friend had cancelled at the last minute. I couldn't afford to go to the only restaurant open on the island out of season, so instead I went to the little shop on the island and bought the ingredients to make dinner, a pack of meatballs, some pasta, some sauce, and had a nice evening cooking and eating by myself in a lovely house with the radio on. That holiday is specifically why I always set the fuck cabin in Sweden, because I had such an idyllic time.
Also cabbage cooked in butter is my all time favourite food, I literally had it for dinner tonight (with bacon and polenta, but it was mostly cabbage in butter).
The other thing I wanted to just mention is that Dvorak is my favourite classical composer, and my ex and I initially bonded over our mutual correct opinion that the eighth symphony is the best, better than the 9th (the 9th is the most famous). Listening to a symphony on the radio with a glass of something good is something I don't do enough these days.
I've kvetched enough about how this story killed me and I still haven't gotten over it completely, but it really feels like the cumulation of all the deep romantic post-steak, post hitman 3 ideas I have about them as a couple, how much I want the struggle for each other to be their defining dynamic. Diana not being there, being scared, them both building it up in their heads too much, the release of being free for the first time in their lives at the ages of 55 and 45, the paradox of being powerful and in control and still scared of fucking up...that is the CORE of them, that is the romance. That is all I want from them. Yes they are beautiful, yes they are sexy, yes they belong together, but it isn't worth anything if they aren't having to overcome themselves, having to do the work of acceptance to be happy. That is precisely why I had such a bad time writing this story, because I wrote the sex scene first and then I had to make them earn it and it was really one of the most difficult things to do, because why shouldn't they just have it? Why was Diana gone? Why can't they just do it? And this was basically my manifesto.

Puppy Potty Training: Tips for Success
Potty training from a young age is very important. It helps your new puppy develop good habits and manners for life.
While it may take a little time and patience, potty training can be a rewarding experience for both of you.
Think of it as a way to bond with your new companion as they learn, and to provide mental stimulation for your puppy’s growing mind.
Here are some tips to help make the process easier for everyone…
The Basics:
Most dogs learn quickly, but there are bound to be some “messes” along the way. That’s just a part of learning and growing up.
So, keep your pup in a place that’s easy to clean, especially when you can’t supervise them directly.
A crate is a great place for this.
Puppy Crate Training
A crate can be a place where your pooch enjoys their naps—and a place they go if they ever want quiet time or privacy, even as adults. And during puppyhood, a crate helps them develop a normal sleep routine. It’s important to get your puppy used to the crate from a young age. Try these tips…
Be sure to choose a crate that's just large enough for your puppy to comfortably stand up, turn around and lie down.
Some crates even come with separators/dividers, which can be added, removed or adjusted as your puppy grows. This can help your pup learn not to go to the bathroom where they eat or sleep—a very important first step in potty training.
Use a potty pad or other material that’s appropriate for them to urinate or defecate on. Ideally, something you can easily remove to clean or throw away.
Start with small increments of time in the crate and work your way up to longer periods, if possible. Generally speaking, for every month old your puppy is, that’s how many hours they can comfortably be crated.
When leaving your puppy in the crate overnight or while you’re at work, be sure they have enough food and water.
Very small breeds need to eat often to avoid low blood sugar—ask your vet for a specific recommendation.
Teach Your Puppy Where to “go”
Decide where you’ll want your pup to go to the bathroom, whether that’s your backyard, or a potty pad inside the home.
Then encourage your pup to use this spot by bringing them there several times per day, especially right after they eat—a common time for puppies to go to the bathroom.
Then, when they pee or poo in the right spot, offer them plenty of praise and attention.
What to Do If You Catch a Puppy “in the Act”
If you catch your new puppy urinating or defecating inside the home, try to pick them up and bring them outside or to a potty pad right away.
It’s OK to wait until they’ve finished—otherwise they might go while you’re carrying them, resulting in a big mess.
But, right after they’re done, bring them to their potty spot. Remain calm and offer some positive reinforcement in the form of petting or praise while they’re on the spot.
Do this consistently, and it will help them make the mental connection between that spot and their bathroom habits.
Think Like A Puppy
When it comes to training, it may help to get inside the mind of your furry friend…
This means understanding that the way your pup learns may be different from the way us human beings learn. With that in mind, remember to…
Use Praise and Positive Reinforcement
New puppies are developing a bond with you and your family. So, yelling and other negative interactions will not only NOT work—they can also damage the growing bond between you and your adorable puppy.
Remember, your puppy might not understand WHY you’re unhappy.
That’s especially true if the accident happened hours ago, while you were at work. They may have already forgotten it was them who left the mess on the rug.
So, the best training method involves offering plenty of praise when they go to the bathroom in the right spot. Offer praise, praise, and more praise!
This positive interaction will be so exciting for the puppy, they will want to repeat the behavior that caused it.
And, this living interaction will help to develop your new bond and friendship—a win-win for both of you.
Use Treats
Praise and attention are important. But, you can also use treats in moderation, especially if your new pup is food-motivated.
Check with your vet on how many treats are too many—especially if your puppy is a small breed. Then, let your puppy enjoy their favorite snack as a reward.
Nutritionally speaking, treats should not make up more than 10% of the total diet.
Consistency is key
You want to offer praise EVERY TIME you see your puppy go to the bathroom in the right spot.
Of course, this won’t be possible when you’re at work. But, do your best to use the same positive reinforcement when you are home.
The reason is, inconsistency can cause confusion, while consistency helps your pup learn faster.
Get the Whole Family Involved and on the Same Page.
If you live by yourself, it should be easy to provide consistency. However, if you have a partner, roommate, or kids, you’ll want to be sure everyone is using the same training method.
And, during this training time, remember to enjoy all the special moments with your new puppy—playing and cuddling and really getting to know them. They’re only this age once, so be sure to enjoy their “puppyhood” to the fullest!

Emotional Feeding - Thanissaro Bhikkhu
Feeding the Mind
"This world is dry and hot and we are thirsty."
"How you eat is how you define your self."
Part of the divide between Theravada Buddhist attitudes, and later forms of Buddhism, is the insight of interrelatedness. To Thanissaro, interrelatedness, inter-being, or interdependence is not a happy realization, because of the mind's need for emotional feeding. He says, "all living beings depend on food. Interrelated is the process of eating. We eat each other. Physical, emotional and mental food." All human conflicts relate to feeding, especially on things that cannot be shared. There are good elements to interrelatedness as later traditions of Buddhism point out, but there is danger if the negative side is forgotten. He reminds us that even if we only feed on vegetables, there's a lot of suffering required to farm, process and transport food for consumption. By being hungry we are interdependent to the environment, which has so much that is out of our power.
Skillful feeding
The Buddha's answer to this type of feeding, is not to relinquish the need for food, but to learn to feed more skillfully, by feeding on the breath. By seeing how our emotions are connected with feeding, and how they can hurt others, it requires more ingenuity to feed better. It requires an understanding that we can feed our emotions with music, movies, gossip, social comparisons, and conflict. This includes religions, including Buddhist concepts and any feelings of superiority towards others.
Many teachers lament seeing Buddhist students arguing with each other over incorrect understandings, much like other supposed peaceful religions that have histories of violence. The feeding is in our self-measurements and conceptual labels. The fear of feeling inferior, being rejected, of threats to our survival, create defensive behaviours that co-opt peaceful intentions. In the case of philosophical debates: a need to win.
The Manipulative Ego
For new meditators, it can be daunting to see how little control there is and how the mind usurps the mantle of the "great meditator" concealing a prideful form of psychological feeding in the practice itself. By making mistakes and going back and forth between mistakes and genuine pleasure with the breath, the meditator can learn without having to be perfect. They can slowly over the years lean more towards the breath, to replace the pleasure of conceptual knowledge, which has that acquisitive pleasure we get with physical objects we like. Conceptual knowledge on its own can be a form of intellectual food.
Thanissaro instructs practitioners to "feed on the breath. Learn how to savour the breath." Then quickly we see how incredibly skilled Thanissaro is at this practice when he says, "the breath is health food for the mind. The mind gets stronger and more self-reliant. Eventually you no longer need to feed. It's gotten so skilled at feeding, it can get along without feeding at all." In this case he means living without emotional feeding, not living without food, to avoid any confusion in the reader.
The Challenge
For a beginner, who regularly is thinking about exciting projects or what's for lunch during their meditation, this seems way too hard. For most of us, meaning 99% of meditators, emotional feeding on the breath requires a lot of consistency of attention to see any reward. The goal is to allow the mind to think when it needs to think, and to go back to the breath when it doesn't need to think. Subtle thoughts and suggestions are arising all the time, but many of them want to feed on unstable external sources.
To replace that conditioning, a practitioner can measure how good the breath is feeling now, and consistently adjust it to what feels comfortable. This is similar to having preferences in the outside world and satisfying those desires with external actions. The difference is that the breath doesn't interfere with anyone else's pleasure, and it is something that is more under your control than external circumstances usually are.
All you have to do is make an intention to do something external and then notice the negative feelings when there is an obstacle preventing the intention from receiving satisfaction. Being a practicing connoisseur of the breath is more under your control.
Even if people in your life mock your meditation practice, it's ultimately hard for someone to police your breath, unless they are assaulting you, which in that case you can have them incarcerated.
There are no excuses to not throw in some nice breaths throughout the day. Even enjoying the breath when dealing with difficult people is possible, though that's more of an advanced practice, and something you gradually get better at over the years. Like bodybuilding, meditators are strengthening the mind, and the results don't happen overnight.
Internal and External rewards
Meeting your preferences for the breath is enjoyable, and is the Buddhist way to increase self-esteem. When the treasure in life is something you have more control over, the rewards of society become less appealing, precisely because of how unreliable they are. Taking care of your mind, and having goodwill for yourself is the basis for having goodwill for others. When you don't like yourself, it's very hard to like others. Having an independent form of happiness, keeps the mind away from being dysregulated, and the temptation to aggressively dominate others as a way to deal with it.
A funny example Thanissaro gives is how people can get irritated by small things, like being interrupted when texting. This realization shows how we can be tethered to many things unconsciously. He says, "most people are cruel when they are suffering. Acts of compassion come from a feeling of well-being in the mind. That's why it's not a selfish desire [to meditate.]"
Emotional Dysregulation
A lot of people desire to make a big difference in the world, but they often burn out, precisely because of this lack of self-care. Handling small difficulties with contemplative practices eventually leads to having enough skill to handle larger difficulties. So in a sense, there's really no advantage to letting your mind get dysregulated emotionally. Although we have to accept that some people will never meditate, and will let their emotional dysregulation lead to external forms of emotional regulation, like sadism, or addiction. For some people THAT IS their main coping mechanism. Added on to that, society can perversely reward these reactions and condition them to repeat.
This becomes a big divide between Buddhism and some points of view in psychology. Many psychologists believe that people should vent their frustrations on safe objects and environments to let the emotion out. This can be done skillfully, but when done unskillfully it can lead to an actual acting out of revenge leading to remorse. In extreme cases it can lead to serious injury or death.
Another danger is how psychologists view pleasure. They are right in saying that many pleasures are more intense than mental peace, and it's true that many of these pleasures can be good, but these same pleasures, when denied can create intense pain.
The feeding eventually gets discouraged by the consequences of moving through people's boundaries, and naturally looks for what supports a clear conscience. Thanissaro is not under the illusion that these practices are easy, he regularly points out that a lot of addictive voices in the mind say "it's no big deal. It's worth it." The mind finds short-term excuses to gain relief from craving.
Over many pleasurable and unpleasurable experiences, the mind eventually prefers the breath because mental peace is more sustainable. He says, "straighten out your mind first. There is no hidden agenda because you don't need to feed on the pride of being an important person. Compassion from total freedom is ultimately the only compassion you can really trust."
The Mind has a Mind of its own
One of the ways Thanissaro gets us to see evidence of our duplicitous minds is to notice the feelings related to our thinking. Even thoughts that seem responsible can be coloured by feelings of the opposite nature. If the habit is stronger than the new intentions, we can be an alcoholic that is going to an AA meeting, and blank out, turn directions, and then end up in a bar. This blanking out can be seen in meditation. Your intention to stay concentrated with the breath can in a fraction of a second, move into thoughts of planning and anticipation of future pleasures. The ending bell of the meditation is where many of us are just starting the meditation.
It can be humbling to see how easy it is to get carried away and feed in the wrong places. For example, when I visited Japan, I remember trying to take pictures of koi fish in a pond, and a young girl pushed in front of me to get a picture first. Ironically, this is similar to how koi fish steamroll each other to get at the fish food tourists throw at them. Yet it was the food of superiority she was looking for instead of fish food.
Another example from my trip was when visiting Buddhist temples. One temple had a sign that tourists were not to take pictures of the golden bodhisattva statue, Guanyin. Of course many people did, with men at the ticket booth shaking their head in contempt at the pathetic tourists. I also took a picture. At the time I was feeling the same as the other tourists. "Damn it! I came all this way, I'm not leaving without a picture." Of course this left me with guilt feelings, which tarnished the experience. Yet this feeding is so contagious and easy to fall into, like drivers passing the speed limit because everyone else is.
Looking back, even the men in the ticket booth, that were shaking their heads in contempt, were also feeding; except they were again feeding on superiority. It's so hard to notice all the types of feeding in real time, because the automatic decision making is happening so fast. This is why intentions have to be renewed constantly. All of this means we have to watch ourselves more than others. We have enough work to do right here.
Focus on your own work
Instead of worrying about other people, Thanissaro wants the meditator to keep it simple, and focus on their own feeding. This freedom from feeding for Thanissaro means you aren't completely restricted. By having a portable source of pleasure, you are not chained to your source of food. The measure of the practice is to be able to do the things you don't want to do that are good for you, and let go the things that are bad for you, that you like. The great insight with this practice is to see that even if we mainly pursue our breath because we can control it, the meditator can use this insight and assert themselves externally, with an understanding of what can be controlled on the outside. Even if a person takes external risks, they have the breath they can return to, and there's less feelings of shock when there's an external disappointment.
A lot of the stress of disappointments is precisely because we are caught off guard. When our expectations are matched with what the external world is actually like, we will get fears and frights, but they won't be as damaging as when we emotionally invest and daydream on only one particular outcome happening. Having backup plans, and prioritizing meditation practice as the main form of pleasure, gives the mind a source of relief while dealing with the world. There is something to not having all your eggs in one basket.
Unstable sources of food
What makes emotional food junk food for Thanissaro, is if it comes from "unstable sources." Sometimes there's a feast, and sometimes a famine. This can cause a lot of anger. Thanissaro challenges the meditator. He says, "be mindful of the object of the anger. The object, the anger, and the mind that's watching. What sets you off about the object? Something somebody did. It's your assumption that sets you off more than what they did. Once that assumption got planted in your mind, it starting eating away at you. Look at what you are doing...If you've let something into your system, you have to get it out...When you take these things in you find they give you no real nourishment. Make the mind so strong that it doesn't need to feed...The breath can be so satisfying, the other things can't get in."
In short, wanting people to behave in particular ways can be a form of feeding that causes stress, like a sense of superiority, or preference. It can make the meditator forget their own unskillfulness when they focus on the unskillfulness of others. This doesn't mean that people can't be assertive in their behaviour to make people accountable, but ultimately the passive aggressive attitude of wanting people to change, but doing nothing about it except stewing in negative emotions, betrays a desire to feed on the entitlement that the world should be fair. The world isn't fair. We can vote for who we want to and take actions within our rights, but the world will always be mixed with good and bad. The practitioner can't wait for the world to be fair to practice meditation. They'll wait forever.
Thanissaro says, "when you are not weighing the mind on these things there's more lightness of being." Even if this may look boring to many people, he doesn't restrict the breath to boredom. He says to "make it interesting food", which is the main part of the practice. Though it's not just about preventing boredom. He says, "feed the mind well so you can live in a world with aging, illness and death."
How to practice
Thanissaro's website Dhammatalks is an endless list of practice instructions and insights to help the practitioner. The practice can be kept simple in its broad strokes, but it eventually becomes complex as the mind gets clearer. The mental movements of the mind are fast, and more clarity means more detail on how the mind emotionally feeds. It's easy to fall into one of the feeding intentions and get carried away.
Thanissaro says, "the trick of course is to keep your mind with the breath. Be as sensitive as possible and change [the breath] if it feels uncomfortable. You don't get discouraged when you lose the breath. Just go back to it...Keep things in mind and keep watching it and being sensitive. Don't get too complicated...Focus your intention on the breath. See how long the intention lasts. If it's strong you can maintain it. You can setup new intentions when it fails. Ask what is too much and what is not enough with the breath? Add a little bit until it's just right. Just small adjustments."
Savouring
As you watch subtle movements of the mind latch onto things outside, you can also see that it can feed on the body, but it's not the habit yet. The practitioner still has to replace external things with the breath before going further. Thanissaro says, "savour the breath as if [it is] good food or music. Be a connoisseur of the breath. Think of it as food."
The danger of not feeding the mind is that it can rebel, and this will happen a lot as people are learning how to entertain the mind with the breath. He says, "if you don't feed it well, it looks for scraps in the garbage can. It becomes a homeless mind...Feed on rapture or refreshment. Allow the breath to be refreshment. Each breath should be given space. Ask, what would feel really good and refreshing?" Moving to the body one can ask, "what kind of breathing would be good for this section or that section of the body?" We can notice parts of the body that have tension and relax them. There are no particular rules on how to play with the breath. Just starting points. You can be creative with your imagery as well. Below is my video review which includes some of the creative ways advanced practitioners use to deal with physical pain.
Skillful Thinking
One of the insights that can be found early on is how our breath is natural when we don't pay attention to it, but when our attention goes to the breath, the willpower starts manipulating, and tightening it. By going towards preference, like we do in the external world, we can experiment with the breath. If we want a short or long breath we do that and keep changing according to how our body prefers it. As we satisfy our preferences we get some of that pleasure that we receive when satisfying preferences in the external world. This way we are attuned to the present moment, because it's interesting. We are still thinking, but thinking about our breath preferences instead. This is the type of thinking that leads naturally to less complication.
Appreciate where you are
"We don't anticipate the next breath," Thanissaro says, "appreciate where you are and make the most of where you are. That way you don't think you are going somewhere. This way you are well fed all along the path. The sense of you [then] goes into the background. The skillful identity is that, if other humans can do this, so can I. The unskillful way is to compare attainments with others." There are so many ways we can feed including, feeding on the intellect, feeding on anticipation. We can even wallow on unpleasantness if we feel someone will rescue us. This actually matches a lot of what psychologists say, that anticipation and plans for enjoyment are often the main part of the enjoyment.
Blameless Feeding
For Thanissaro, memory is used to watch the cause and effect of your practice to "remember what you did and the results you're getting." Showing that he's not afraid to point out practices that he thinks won't work, Thanissaro says, "'Who am I?' is a useless question. Do I feel gratification? That is worth asking. If I don't like how I'm eating, where am I looking for gratification? How do I deal with this hunger? Look for a way of feeding that is totally harmless." He challenges again and asks "what are the ignoble things you had to do to get pleasure?" He wants the practitioner to look for happiness that doesn't require you to hurt others. Then there's "no denial and regret because the feeding is blameless."
The Committee
As you continue practicing you will be "seeing the connections between what you're doing, the results of what you're doing, and realizing you can do it better." Because we recognize experience with labels, they all have a little bit of clinging stress, of feeding based on what is recognized as being a better or worse label or recognition. He wants us to "use the stillness to see more subtleness of who [we] are feeding inside."
Similar to Carl Jung's Archetypes, and Freud's Ambivalence, Thanissaro looks at our desires as a committee that weighs desires. Certain voices, based on our habits, are louder than others. He guides us to "strengthen the wiser members of the committee and starve the other ones." Of course we don't have to think about doing this, but just begin breathing nicely and feed the right voices before we get carried away. Seeing ever more subtle forms of mental pain helps tilt the ambivalence towards less pain. He says, "knowledge of what's bad about something changes the perception towards dispassion. You lose your taste for it." This inclines the mind towards Nirvana, which is often called "the deathless" or "the unconditioned," which is different from a concentration mental state, and promises the deepest rest of all the contemplative practices. Actual food, for someone who has weaned themselves into Nirvana many times, is transformed into something to keep the body strong to maintain practice.
Facing Death
So why all the fuss over these practices and even making a life out of it? Thanissaro asks "how are we going to handle the suffering of death when it happens?" The pain we are slowly unraveling with meditation, if we don't practice, is going to be there when we age and experience illness and death. To have a to go through a quick weaning process of our addictive attachments when we are closer to our actual death, will be more emotionally painful than dealing with it earlier on. It also relieves a lot of unnecessary stress when one is alive and well. A person's body can be in better shape than someone who is older, but their mind may not.
As Thanissaro reminds the listener, death can come at any moment and does not ask permission. He asks, "are you ready?"

There is ultimately more wisdom from someone who has lived most of their natural life. They understand how much we can forget and how ephemeral our life dramas are in the grand scheme of the universe. Pema Chödrön is a perfect living example of this and I'll leave you to watch this Belfast Buddhist interview below, where she tells us from her own experience.

I made this whole I was bored and tired, hope you like it. If you have any ideas to expand on these creatures then go ahead and say them, I'd love to see ideas.
Midnight moths
Midnight moths are classified as mammals despite the moth like apperance. They are verbal creatures, communicating with chirps, barks, roars, purrs, and huffs. They normally live in a hive, being that they are very social creatures and can get lonely and depressed without fellow moths around, and that safety is in numbers. Food:
They are omnivores, eatting; moss, fruit, deer, cattle, and moutain goats. They will store as much moss as they can in small caves that aren't already inhabited. If one does accidentally store food in others den, it will get shoved out by a very angry moth. Moss is their main way of getting water but if their cave has a water source, they will happily drink out of that.
Where they live:
They live up in moutians, in large caves or underground ravines. Smaller caves connect together are normally where their dens and food storerooms are, with it connecting to the ravine or large cave. They are tameable and there are a few reasons to do so. Mainly to guard something or to just have a fluffy, cuddly moth around.
Puphood
A few hours after being born, the pups can start walking, albeit very clumsily. Pups are born in litters, with the litter being two to six. They stay in the den until they can fly which takes a few days, they start following their mother or father around then, watching them. If they aren't with their parents, they are playing and wrestling around with other pups. Pups are watched over by workers when their parents are busy, being cared of until the parents come back.
Interactions with people:
Most interaction with humans aren't good, with moths stealing and eatting cattle to humans killing and using moths fur for luxurious rugs, jackets, and other items.. It has put a big dent in human and moth relasonships. The relationships between human and moth does vary from hive to hive though, with the best interactions being that they help eachother out, and the worst being the moths or humans to start an all out war. Sometimes, they barely interact, just leaving eachother alone.
Villages start growing:
It varys how the moths react to villages growing and getting closer to the caves. Most start getting anxious, watching closely if it gets any closer and if it does, start looking for a cave farther from the village. More calm hives might get curious and check things out, going to look around the village at night at interact with things around there. And friendlier hives will go to say hi to the humans, relaxing around town and are much easier to tame.
Senses:
Smell: They have a pretty good sense of smell, they use it to hunt and find the hive.
Sight: Guards have better eyesight then Workers, being more use to sunlight. They both can see in the dark very well, but like to decorate cave halls with glowing moss or other things. Glowing things are very pretty to them and can be used to distract them, wether it be a glowstick or lasers pointer. They are also known to huddle around cabins that have their lights on late at night.
Hearing: They have a normal sense of hearing.
Touch: They can feel just like a normal human and will decorate dens with soft things being, moss, wool from sheep and even so blankets. All this will be made into a comfy bed to sleep in.
Class: Workers
They are normally calm, sweet creatures. They can be easily annoyed sometimes and they will shove any unwanted vistiors out of the hive if pestered enough. But one sure fire way to anger them is by messing with the babies or getting to close to the king/queen inwhich they'll form a blockade and shove you out with the guards.
Class: Guards
Guards are more fluffy then workers, since they normally are outside in the cold, hunting or on partol. They protect the hive with their lives, attacking anything they can see as a threat. Guards are more fearsome, but if you raise one yourself or tame an adult, you can get a loyal, companion.
What they do in diffent seasons:
Spring: In spring, they are shedding the fluff that built up during the winter. Guards are back outside, and are more calm then normal so this is the best time to try to tame one, be careful still though. They will gather food way more now. Workers are more stressed though, since the hive is less guarded because all the guards are looking for food so the workers have to deal with any unwanted visitors, shoving them out with angry chirps. They also clean the hive angrily, shoving that out of the hive too so your probably going to land in a pile of fur and old moss.
Summer: Everything gets hotter and thus you'll find some guards rolling around in the mud. But they are also more annoyed whenever they have to leave the hive. They are on partol more often, attacking anything and everything that moves because of their frusteration. The hive is very hot and Workers will leave the hive more often to get a break, they will also bath in underwater lakes if their cave has them.
Fall: It gets cooler, which feels amazing for the moths. But that is ruined by the stress the whole hive gets. Guards are gathering food to prepare for winter, they also grow out their coats for winter too. Workers are stressed too, storing the food and making sure the dens are ready for hibernation, with moss and anything that will warm up the moths when it gets colder.
Winter: Everything has calmed down much more, everyone is inside and huddled together in their dens to hibernate. The hive is most defenceless then, with even the guards sleeping in for the winter near the entrances

The witch listened to him intently, nodding and trying not to interrupt while he spoke into her mind - this form of communication, as Melissa was learning, was delicate in the sense that her emotions and excitement could overwhelm the creature even if she didn't mean it. The best thing was for the brunette to wait until Daigo was done, as if they were speaking through a radio, and then say her piece.
'I promise you, Daigo - it will get better. It is my mission to see you comfortable in your own skin,' the woman promised him, the free hand going to his face and brushing the droplets of blood away and evidently unafraid or unperturbed by the gesture. Her cellphone was in the hand that the hybrid had captured to speak, and Melissa gently disentangled herself from him albeit with slow, graceful movements and still using the last digits linked as a bridge to his mind, 'Try to get some rest - I'll get everything done as soon as possible and return here.'
With that, the witch walked around to grab her purse, then into the bedroom to fetch the money and tried to think if she needed anything else. A good thing was that this butcher was a known contact to her family - and thus Melissa already had the address, deciding to start with him first. A short but sweet goodbye followed where the brunette assured Daigo that she would return soon, and then the woman was outside, once more engulfed by the strange and busy streets she was so unused to.
Her shaky translations were enough for a taxi to the butcher - and once the woman walked inside, there was no time wasted introducing herself - which prompted a fast transformation of the owner into something closer to his actual nature: a ghoul. Unlike most of his customers, Kai (such was his name) had in Melissa the strangest ally - excited to listen to everything he had to say, concerned with his own health too, and eager to do anything in her power to restore Daigo to his glory.
Kai was a helpful hand - not only he happened to have mostly everything that the creature required (in addition to the meat), but willingly accompanied Melissa for her own shopping, too. Granted, the witch didn't eat much - groceries were easy and light, as the witch was convinced they wouldn't need a lot of time in Japan before returning. For every stop done, the woman promised him some favors in return for his kindness - and eventually she was dropped off at Daigo's door without half the struggle of her original arrival.
Having the key made it easy - Melissa got inside with her bags and ran to the kitchen first to ensure the food would not grow bad before the hybrid was properly fed. Her own things needed lesser care, and the witch left most things there - except for a package of clean towels, which she had acquired at a convenience store and then went through the motions of washing them under running water.
They were cool, soothing - they should help with the itching that assaulted Daigo until they could leave. Walking around trying to locate the spider-human, Melissa eventually realized he was on his bed, resting - and moved in a way that hopefully announced her presence through vibrations that would not startle the man when she touched him.
The bedsheets were stained with red - the blood that dropped from the wounds that kept closing, added to his unrestful behavior. Melissa cared nothing for it - instead, she sat down on the edge of the mattress, fingers finding his nearest patch of skin in the form of his hand to re-connect their thoughts and communicate once more.
'I'm back, Daigo - your friend Kai was very helpful. I will help with dinner for you later, but I have an idea first for these itches. These are clean towels dabbed in running water - tell me if they feel pleasant against your skin; they should give you some peace,' the witch said calmly, getting comfortable in bed after kicking off her shoes - in a way, not unlike a motherly figure getting ready to cradle a scared infant during a bad night.
Surely many could have pointed out how fast she was trespassing the boundaries of personal space - particularly for one raised in Japan. But since physical touch was so vital for their connection, it offered a very good excuse for the woman to at least try and metaphorically embrace the creature she so desperately wished to assist.
★. ―
Daigo remained on the floor after Melissa rose to her feet. He folded his hands in his lap, unable to help how his fingers twisted together, and drew a shuddering breath. Quickly, his mind wandered away from him, causing him to miss Melissa reconnecting with her family members on the other side of the world.
The witch agreeing to stay with Daigo caused a bit of happiness to bloom ― and what a strange, unfamiliar emotion that was for the poor creature. It somewhat soothed the dread sitting heavily in his gut. Daigo cleared his throat and inhaled slowly again. He couldn't explain why Melissa being in his dreary apartment excited him so. Perhaps, it was the promise of companionship ; Daigo possessed no friends and spoke to precious few people.
( or, maybe, it was the creeping thought in the back of his head that said Melissa was important. the same little voice that begged for her to trust her. she's special, it crooned. )
Daigo suddenly returned to the land of the living and tilted his head at the sound of Melissa fighting with her phone. It was impossible for him to tell what she was trying to do, but the mix of English and robotic Japanese that reached his ears gave him a good idea. Finally, it seemed the witch found success : she spoke into a translator, which then provided a shaky Japanese equivalent. Daigo clicked once loudly, startled. A nail began to tap at the ground.
Frowning, the creature focused on Melissa's blurry shape and reached for it. His fingers brushed over the device she held until Daigo connected to her. A light squeeze confirmed this was her wrist. While the monstrous entity appreciated her efforts, he much preferred to communicate with her this way.
' IT IS A PASSABLE TRANSLATION, ' he said quietly, half - risen from his place. ' I . . . THANK YOU FOR YOUR THOUGHTFULNESS. I REQUIRE LITTLE ― ONLY THE BUTCHER. WE WILL NEED FOOD FOR YOUR, THOUGH. ' Daigo paused for a moment. ' IN THE BEDROOM, UNDER THE MATTRESS, THERE IS A STASH OF YEN. USE IT. GET EVERYTHING YOU NEED. '
It was all that the creature could do to store his funds safely. He couldn't risk a background check from a banking institution. Daigo's fake identity was not complete enough to withstand such a harsh inquiry.
The monster swallowed thickly, unusual eyes flicking to the side. An old habit he had carried with him despite his poor sight. ' I NEED TO REST, ' Daigo admitted, a finger tapping her skin idly. ' I HAVE FELT . . . SICK. SO OFTEN LATELY. SICK EVEN IF I DON'T THINK I'M PHYSICALLY ABLE TO BE ILL ANYMORE. THE WEAVING ALSO IS TIRESOME. ' Daigo withdrew his hand and scratched at his cheek. He hissed at the sting of his flesh being opened. Rivulets of blood oozed down his nails. In spite of this, he applied greater pressure.
Off ! his mind screamed, over and over. Take it off !

ASTRO OBSERVATIONS PT. 7
gemini and pisces placements are similar in the sense that geminis are able to see things from all perspectives, while pisces are able to empathise with people who have all sorts of different perspectives. pisces placements... be careful with over-empathising with the people who hurt you to the point where you’re understanding why they did it and you start excusing their actions. gemini placements... be careful with seeking the multi-layers and million different perspectives in everything and everyone to the point where you’re driving your own mind insane and you don’t know what your opinion is anymore because you hyper-analyse so much. too much of a good ability becomes a curse.
people with venus-mars aspects have a talent for making people who hate them fall in love with them 💋
moon in the 11th house natives tend to attract friends who get into scandals. moon in the 10th house natives tend to be the ones who get into said scandals. it’s a PERFECT FRIENDSHIP
capricorn placements have a talent for knowing how to make things last. they want to prolong the enjoyment they get out of something for as long as possible, which is why their hobbies, friendships and relationships tend to last a lifetime... hedonistic sluts
since both the 7th house and the 11th house rule fandoms, celebrities with a 7th house or 11th house neptune can attract fans who view them as angels who can’t do nothing wrong — because of this, those celebrities rarely take accountability for their mistakes, since people keep pushing the “but they’re perfect :(“ light on them
pluto conjunct ascendant natives always come off as very serious during first impressions, no matter how approachable and inviting they strive to appear.
sun and moon in the 10th house people may feel as if they’re always exposed to the public eye, they can’t get away with keeping things secretive. others always notice whatever they want kept on the low. this can be especially frustrating if they notice that others aren’t exposed to the same kind of scrutiny that they are for simply existing
lilith in pisces bitches have a natural talent for appearing like angels even in situations where they are 100% guilty. it’s very easy for them to put on their vulnerable, lost puppy act lmfao, which triggers others’ protective instincts. they may be able to cry on cue when people call them out on their bullshit, making them feel like THEY’re the shitty ones for confronting the lilith native... it’s insane
lilith in the 12th house natives may feel as though the themes of lilith are trapped in their psyche, at the core of who they are and those themes become unavoidable for them — they’re always there, lurking in the shadows, becoming the center of their nightmares
people with mercury in the 1st house can feel veryyy threatened and defensive when someone possesses knowledge in an area that they don’t, it’s like it hits them right on their biggest fears. they often either try to “one-up” the other person in an attempt to heal their broken ego or shut down altogether in insecurity. it’s imperative that they work on developing a strong sense of self-worth because they can be extremely prone to comparing their mental skills to those of other people.
people with personal planets in the 12th house may feel as though a lot of their artistic drive is stifled by their lack of energy. like... in the mental realm there’s a lot going on and it’s incredible, but then you pick up a pen to actualize your visions and you feel exhaustion immediately overtaking you. it can feel like there’s a lot to your psyche that feels inaccessible to you not because you don’t want to explore it, but because you have yet to restore the energy to dive deep into it. this can be especially noticeable if there’s absolutely no 5th house energy in the chart
people with jupiter in an earth sign love being surrounded by greeneries in their home; they may take a lot of enjoyment out of taking care of plants, gardening, cooking and stuff of the sort. it makes them feel more grounded, independent, and even healed. they also LOVE scents that connect them to nature like the scent of grass and the ocean.
air mercuries can be very beware of strangers, they can feel offended when their friends make them socialize with someone they don’t know and it can take a hot while before they trust the person enough to lower their defences a bit. they need to know it’s safe before expressing their usual sexy eccentric selves in front of someone new. on the other hand, aries placements can also hate being introduced to new people through their friends but it’s mostly because they’re very territorial over them, and can’t stand the thought that this new person can hurt their friendship in any possible way
meanwhile, it’s probably an earth or leo/sagittarius mercury introducing new friends to the group. they’re so fucking good with people and it shows in how they make people feel welcomed so easily, it’s like they “take” the person in and adopt them into the group. they can’t stand seeing someone being treated like an outcast because they know how it sucks to feel rejected, so they’ll try their best to make you feel included
while on the subject of people who hate seeing others be treated like an outcast because they know how it feels like to be rejected: SCORPIO RISINGS. bro. people underestimate how chill they can actually be. if they see you being left out, they’ll approach you with no fucks given and do anything in their power to make you feel comfortable. they do so well in group settings.
and while on the subject of scorpio risings... i have a scorpio rising friend and he goes thru it on the daily. he often complains that people are always suspicious of him and that they seem repulsed by him, strangers on the street will stay tf away from him. and it’s so heartbreaking because his personality is so friendly and welcoming and it doesn’t at all match his intimidating appearance. scorpio risings have this energy that not many people can handle, others feel either really drawn to them or downright scared of them because of the “danger” element they seem to carry in them
i know two people who are both scorpio suns and libra moons and they look the exact same, even though they have different risings. brown, deep-set eyes, coarse dark hair, naturally tanner skin tone — and they have the same style as well, using lots of band t-shirts and dark clothing. scorpio energy is always so noticeable wherever it is i swear, it’s like it takes over the rest of the chart
gemini moons are what yall claim gemini venuses to be. like, seriously... have you ever met someone with a gemini venus? they don’t need constant stimulation or else they’ll get bored and cheat. not in the slightest; actually, they’re often incredibly loyal and crave longterm, committed relationships. if anything, they need stimulation outside of their relationship in the form of a good, exciting career and hobbies so that they don’t get too addicted to their partner and to constantly analysing every aspect of their relationship. gemini moons however, tend to have multiple partners throughout life and they often feat deep commitment. they can be huge players imo, IT’S THEM YOU SHOULD BE WORRIED ABOUT!
sagittarius placements are so... tactile? like, they love to touch things. when they go to stores and stuff, they’ll start holding everything that catches their attention— it’s like they can only decide if they want to buy something after thouroughly exploring how it feels, the texture and the energy that the object gives them through touch. and they talk so much with their hands. it makes me so anxious like bitch you aren’t selena gomez, i promise you that you CAN keep your hands to yourself
taurus placements are so weird to me, i can’t understand them. it’s like they’re afraid of exploring their own depths, which in turn makes me unable to explore them. okay, how do i put this... it’s like they have this preset idea of who they are and after deciding so, they’re unwilling to let go of it. “i’m the stable friend who’s here for everyone even when i can barely take care of my own self” and then that’s who they are: the people who are a steady rock in the lives of others, taking care of everyone. and then they refuse to change even after getting hurt. and then, it’s like... well, you can’t just be that. you are a human who contains multitudes, but i don’t think you give yourself enough credit on how layered you are. that fear of changeability, that need to be the one stable thing in a world full of unpredictability will only damage you in the end, because you won’t get to fully experience life’s greatest pleasure: knowing yourself. becoming your own best friend, exploring every layer that there is to your being. i think you deny yourself of that experience because you fear that, with self-learning comes self-growth which leads to transformation. and you fear transformation because you don’t want to change for the worst. but like... transformation is necessary and with that comes adaptability + flexibility, which are things you could greatly benefit from.
scorpio venuses can be so pessimistic— and when they’re in a dark mindset, it’s so difficult to pull them out of it. it’s so difficult to get them to see the good in difficult situations, and to help them believe that it gets better. but even if you don’t believe me, i’ll keep telling you; it does get better. you’ll get through this.
jupiter in the 4th house is an indicator of food having been an amazing part of your childhood; there might’ve been a lot of feasts and you could’ve had a parent who loved to cook. being well fed might be a huge concern for you now; you might get sick easily when you’re eating fast food and non-traditional plates.
mercury square uranus is an extremely difficult aspect to have because, in your earlier years, you might’ve felt dumb or like there was something wrong with your intelligence because you might’ve found school difficult due to it’s structured nature that didn’t fit with the way you like to learn things— you need to learn in an interactive way that piques your interest. your anxiety and any traumatic experienced that you faced could’ve heavily impacted your school performance. you might’ve had an ease with learning but then, when it came to doing the written tests, you couldn’t perform to the best of your abilities. either way, school might’ve been a source of a lot of stress and difficulty.
mercury square pluto can have some weird manifestation where, like... you suspect things but you always suspect the wrong things. i’ve met a few people with this aspect and all of them were extremely suspicious of the most random things who were literally normal and innocent. this aspect can cause a lot of chaos to one’s interpersonal relationships because you might find yourself suspecting your loved ones in the weirdest circumstances due to your trust issues, which in return causes them to lose trust in you + the want to confide in you because you keep questioning everything they’re up to WHEN THEY’RE NOT UP TO ANYTHING IN THE FIRST PLACE. probably the most frustrating thing that can happen with this aspect is when you always suspect what you shouldn’t, but then, when sketchy things are actually happening that should be questioned, you don’t bat an eye to it. omfg it drives me insane
moon conjunct the ascendant can make someone have a very delicate appearance that gives others the impression that they need to handle you like fine china or else you might break. my mother has this at a very tight orb and whenever i bring people over, their first impression of her is always “she looks so frail”. the native might be extremely sensitive to every minor inconvenience which brings a lot of frustration to them, a feeling that they can’t control their reactions and inner turmoil. it can also suck when you don’t want to be depicted as the victim but then that’s the way everyone perceives you. the native might have very expressive and shiny eyes, and they can cry easily. it’s very difficult for them to hide their emotions.
your jupiter sign can signify where you feel an overflow of energy. jupiter in cancer may feel like you have an overflow of nurturing and protective energy towards your loved ones, with a lot of intuition and need for introspection. jupiter in leo can make you feel like you a talent for self-expression and dealing with others, being overly dramatic and prideful at times, and with a huge drive to have fun. jupiter in virgo can feel an overflow of perceptive qualities, with a huge amount of self-awareness and also awareness of your surroundings, ability to constantly analyse and a constant strive for perfection (which btw is impossible since perfection is unattainable and you’re a human being who makes mistakes and that’s completely fine. stop finding flaws where there aren’t none).
