The Way To A Man’s Heart | Nanami x GN!Reader
Tumblr media
You have a surprise for Nanami: a specially packed bento.

Tumblr media
You’re more nervous than you have any right to be. You can cook, and the little things you were packing away into the glossy wooden bento box on your counter were nothing too complicated. The presentation was maybe the most difficult part of it all, but you’d persisted nonetheless, and now you were sitting with a little bit of pride bubbling forth as you close the box and run your hand over the top.
But those nerves are at a rolling boil, eclipsing that pride, as you hear Nanami opening the door of your shared bedroom and padding down the hallway towards you.
“Why are you up so early?”
You turn to look at him, side-stepping so the freshly packed box is hidden behind you, and smile as you look at him. He rarely left the bedroom in such a state of disarray, always visiting the en-suite bathroom to tidy himself up first thing after waking, but with his mussed hair and one leg of his pyjamas bunched up high on his calf he’d clearly been concerned to not find you in your usual spot beside him in bed.
“Just taking care of something.”
Such an answer would normally be enough for your partner, content to let you have your business to yourself when needed, but he hears the uncharacteristic jitter in your voice and comes closer, resting his hands on your waist and pressing a kiss to your forehead.
“Something worrying?”
Before you can answer, his eyes lock onto the bento box over your shoulder, raising his brows curiously, “Is this that something?”
It was, and it was very much not being presented as the surprise you were hoping for. Nanami loved his food, with a thorough mental list of all of the nicest places in any areas he was frequently sent to for missions, having to rely on quick meals out instead of anything home cooked. He had particular tastes though, a discerning judge who would without mercy comment on a restaurant’s quality. You wanted it to be perfect, a home meal to ease his mind and send him along for the rest of his stressful day with a light heart and happy stomach.
You also wanted him to enjoy it when you weren’t there to see in case it wasn’t up to his high standards.
He’d seen it now though, quirking a brow as he gently moves you aside to look at it properly.
“I thought I’d pack you lunch… in case you didn’t have time to get yourself something.”
“Oh?”
Even in the dim lighting of the kitchen, sun only just rising, you think you see the beginnings of a blush spreading across his cheeks. He places a hand on the lid, looking to you before he goes further, “May I?”
You shrug and nod, cat already out of the proverbial bag.
He opens it, noting the contents fondly, leaning down and closing his eyes as he smells the small portion of stir fried marinated vegetables carefully separated from the small bun you’d secretly baked the previous evening after he was in bed. He even smiles as he looks at the selection of carefully cut fruits in their own separate compartments.
He straightens, closing the box. Then he turns, beaming down at you as he places a crooked finger under your chin to tilt your face up to meet his eyes.
“You take such good care of me, darling.” His words are barely above a whisper, though they still manage to absolutely sparkle as they come from his lips.
Nanami leans in, eyes soft and appreciative, looking absolutely dreamy before he brushes his lips against yours so gently it’s as if he’s only barely touched you. “Thank you…”
Then, he’s pulling back, and clearing his throat. “Now let me brush my teeth so I can kiss you properly.”

It was a quiet and cold night in the lab, hours past eclipse. Norm had suggested that Spider head to bed and you to go back home a long while ago, but you both decided against it–you knew your father would be at least a little understanding (but at the same time, you knew you were going to end up getting a scolding one way or another), your mother, on the other hand, not so much.
(Neytiri loathed Spider so much it made her blood boil and she made sure you both knew that, but the exact reason as to why–you weren’t sure. Nor will you be willing to understand. But one thing you did know was that you loved him, way too much. You weren’t sure if it was platonic or romantic, but either way you weren’t about to fight it. Not a chance.)
The only things you both could hear were the soft pitter-patters of rain that tapped against the glass and the buzzing hum of the hazy overhead lights, long forgotten video logs played on the illuminated screen before you.
It was nice, being alone with your closest friend like this. A small smile graced your lips at the thought, holding the small breathing device up to your mouth, inhaling the precious air, your eyes fluttering shut.
Your calm stupor, however, was cut short when you heard Spider’s nervous voice ring out towards you, soft but held a certain tone that demanded your attention.
“Could I try something?”
When you looked over, his eyes were locked and set onto the floor, finding it more interesting than anything else in the chilly room. Your wide honeyed gaze burned holes into the side of his head, eyebrows furrowing with nothing but concern for your friend. “What is it?”
Spider bit his lip in thought before responding, looking you dead in the eye. “Get on the table.”
Silence.
“..This table will collapse underneath itself as soon as I sit down, Spi.” You responded with raised eyebrows, questioning, staring at him incredulously.
He has the gall to scoff, shrugging. “No it won’t, trust me. I’ve jumped over these things way too many times, and they haven’t budged, not once.”
You paused. Another beat of silence passed.
Your nose crinkled with doubt at the delicate skyperson table not breaking under your lithe, but heavy body–you wouldn’t believe that for a second– but something you could definitely believe is him playing jungle on top of them like it was nothing– honestly such a Spider thing to do.
Despite your inner dialogue, you couldn’t possibly resist this silly monkey boy anyways, even if it meant saving your life. “Fine.” You grumbled.
You placed yourself on the sleek expanse of the metal table, hissing softly as nothing but pure coldness stung the back of your thighs like pinpricks. The table was quite large, admittedly so, but your feet still managed to prod the floor.
A sharp, playful grin stretched across his face once you complied, immediately finding his place between your legs, warm palms smoothing atop your bare thighs. You shivered, goosebumps dotting across your navy blue skin–whether it was from the stale, chilly air of the lab or because of Spider’s touch, you had no idea.
“Spider,” you mused, making him look up at you through thick lashes. You found it oddly adorable how he was still so, so small, even when you’re sitting on a table, nearly hunched over to at least meet some of his height. He was tall for a human, you knew this, but gosh. You thought to make fun of him for it, like you usually do, but you couldn’t find it in you–for whatever reason. “What’s this all about?”
“I want to try to.. conduct an experiment.” If you weren’t so caught up in your confusion, you would’ve noticed the way he leaned into you, taking in your ray of presence with an unreadable expression on his face.
“Bro.. conduct an experiment?” You parroted with a cunning smile on your face, mirth shining in pools of gold. “Haha, you sound like Norm!”
Spider gasped, scandalized. “Shut up. I do not.” He flushed a pretty pink and shoved you gently, making you cackle aloud. “Norm said that if I ever get bored, I should try to experiment–test things out, I guess.” You hummed and placed a hand on his shoulder, letting him know that you were listening. “Thought that’d be boring to do by myself, and I always have fun with you, so that’s why I need you here.”
You nod once, managing to keep a straight face at the hidden confession, but the upwards flick of your ears and the way your tail thudded against the table gave it away. He always has fun with you? Now that was news to you.
All of a sudden, the air felt thinner and your heart felt like it was about to jump out of your chest, you quickly took a flustered breath from the device that dangled from your side. The lab was only chilly a few moments, why was it hot in here all of a sudden?
“Alright..” You licked your lips, and this time, you definitely didn’t miss the way his eyes caught the movement, intrigued. “So, what’s your hypothesis?”
“My hypothesis is that I can make you blush.” He states matter-of-factly, an even sharper grin taking over his features, making your heart palpate violently against your chest. “With my lips.”
You sputtered; now it was your turn to be scandalized, eyes popped open so wide that Spider was so sure they were about to jump out of your sockets.
“With your– with..” You heard the blood rush to your face, your ears flicking downwards with embarrassment. “Spider.. bro.. that’s so..”
“What? C’mon, let me kiss you.” He pouted, daring to lean even closer to you, making your thighs open wider to accommodate him. “I wanna kiss you.” You let out a breath at his straightforwardness, you knew he was not leaving you alone until he got that kiss.
Spider placed his hands around on your thin waist, squeezing softly, making your breath hitch. Fuck it, you thought, before leaning forward to crash your plump lips against his smaller ones, trying your best to work around the difference. He groaned internally, you tasted like sweet yovo fruit. Spider immediately reciprocated with an equal amount of vigor, thumbing the edge of your ribcage.
Noises of wet, desperate lips smacking together and strained breaths filled the air, and you both could only pray that Max or Norm wouldn’t walk in on both of you nearly eating each other’s faces off like two hungry palulukan in heat.
After a few moments, you pulled back–much to Spider’s dismay– making him push forward to chase your lips. Your chest was heaving, face flushed a ripe purple-ish color, while Spider was completely pink from head to toe–like the strawberries your father once told you about years ago. The pit of your tummy fluttered tremendously, like branch tips releasing new buds in gentle, fluctuating bursts.
The loud thumping of a tail and a purr thundered throughout the lab, effectively startling Spider. You push your head between the juncture of his neck and jaw, rubbing your cheek against the skin. He’d absolutely have to ask you about this later.
Your back arches like a strung bow, hips grinding forward against his with newfound vigor, the sudden pressure and friction against loincloths makes Spider groan heartily, thumbs rubbing encouraging circles into the dip of your hips. Eywa, you are huge. He’s overwhelmed, and so are you, yet makes no move to stop you. Please keep going, he wants to say, please.
Then, for you, it finally clicks.
You and Spider kissed. You and Spider… kissed. And the cherry on top is that you purred.
With whatever amount of shame you had leftover, you throw yourself back and slap your three-fingered hands over your flushed face. “Sorry. Oh, by Eywa, I’m so sorry.” He laughs breathlessly and gently removes your hands from your face, intertwining his hands with your bigger ones, silently reassuring you. You let him.
“This wasn’t just an.. experiment, right..?” You mumbled, bright eyes blown out wide and hopeful, Spider felt his resolve melt at your vulnerable state.
“Norm was right about that experiment thing, but I just wanted an excuse to kiss you. I plan to do it even more after today.”
“But..” you paused, “I thought you liked Kiri?”
Spider looked at you as if you’d just sprouted fifteen heads right before his eyes, but his gaze still held something soft. Something soft that was reserved for you only. “If I liked Kiri then I would’ve kissed her, not you, stupid!” At his words, your bottom lip juts outward to form a pout.
“So, you like me? Like, really like me?” You whispered, almost disbelieving.
“Yes, dummy, I really like you.”
“I really like you too!”
You surged forward, sending the both of you tumbling onto the chilled floor, tangled up in a mess of giggles and light pecks across each other’s blushing faces.
If it meant basking in your warmth every moment and every hour of the day, Spider would definitely consider conducting experiments with you more often.

Extended Contract Chapter 1
Fae Prince Sun, Fae Prince Moon, Fae King Eclipse x Witch Reader
(You are a witch that fell for the oldest trick in the book by giving your name to the mischievous Fae princes of the Celestial Court. Such an inconvenience on what was supposed to be a typical office night. You are honestly not having it. They, however, do seem quite happy about having you. You decide to make a deal with the Fae King to regain your freedom. The only thing that is functional in the whole situation is your phone signal in the Fae Kingdom.)
Warnings: kidnapping, suggestive themes, gore and the usual Fae tomfoolery
“May I have your name?“
“Of course, it is Y/N.“
“Your precious contribution is very much appreciated.“
It is not every day that one seals their own fate because of a simple misunderstanding of idioms and literal meanings, but there you were, bound to the realm of the Fae Folk and belonging to the royal twins of the Celestial Court. Mondays were known to be unlucky days, but this was just ridiculous.
You weren't really in the mood for getting abducted, thank you very much.
There were so many assignments and drafts due next week and you feared Vanessa's wrath far more than you feared the dark magic of enamoured Fae.
Furthermore, you had the misfortune of being stuck with those mischievous miscreants in the middle of the witching hour. The law firm building was empty, the cranky doorman had left hours ago and the janitor had the habit of never arriving before six in the morning. You could scream, but that would not do much good. The cameras did not pick up sound and technology could not record the presence of the Fae, so the only thing you would accomplish is create evidence of your own insanity.
“Excuse me, I really must protest.“
You were in the process of trying to escape the grip of the regal solar-themed Fae. He seemed rather amused, since you weren't really successful, but he almost seemed to be playfully encouraging you to keep trying. Prince Sun had always been a very supportive person, even if he was the one causing the problem in the first place.
“Go on, beautiful, nobody is stopping you. I think that every once in a while everybody needs to raise objections and such. It is healthy.“
His lunar twin grinned, red eyes glowing with roguish mirth.
“I wholeheartedly agree with you, brother. We fully encourage sincerity and dialogue.“
You told them that you wanted to make an appeal. They happily informed you that such a thing was not possible and that you officially belonged to them. You were certainly not touched by their infectious enthusiasm. After all, being gifted with a human's True Name was an experience akin to a cat falling into a whole box full of catnip for them.
“You will play with us forever."
“The Celestial Court is a wondrous place.“
“Word games galore.“
“But beware, for danger lurks in each syllable, my love.“
“Blades caress the consonants and glide along the vowels.“
“Running is futile, but at least it is a very healthy activity. It is always important to get some cardio for the day.“
By all logic, you should be feeling some form of despair and terror, but you were mostly suffering from a horrible case of injured pride. You had fallen for the oldest trick since the dawn of magic. You were an absolute idiot. True, you were running on two cups of coffee, you had not slept properly in a week and your blood sugar levels were more tragic than Shakespeare's “Hamlet“. In your defense, working for William Afton, attorney at law, was no walk in the bloody park. Especially when you had Vanessa as your immediate taskmaster.
You had grown tired of struggling, giving yourself a few moments of respite. Prince Sun was holding you bridal style, his blue gaze soft, showing a type of adoration one would give to a hidden treasure, a joy one experiences when holding a droplet of water in a desert.
Prince Moon had a personality that was diametrically opposite to that of his brother. Hunger reigned in his eyes. Your essence was intoxicating, calling for him, enticing him. You dared not even imagine what his claws could do to you, nor what he could accomplish with his razor-sharp teeth.
Rowan charms could no longer save you, nor could silver. Leaves of holly had no more power, either. You couldn't bribe the royal twins with cream either, since apparently you were the new dessert in the grand scheme of things.
Moon reached out with his claws, searching for your delicate hand. He traced his claw along the sensitive flesh of your inner wrist with all the fervour and ardour of a lover, inspecting the soft skin. Upon giving your name to them, two different markings had manifested on each inner wrist respectively. A crescent moon on the right one and the mark of the sun on the left one.
“Gentlemen, there has obviously been a bit of a miscommunication.“
“Yes, those tend to be very practical in our line of work.“
“I don't have time for this, do you have any idea how many assignments I have due next week?“
“Actually, we do. I must voice our disapproval of you overworking yourself in general. Following orders of such unworthy scoundrels.“
“Well, I am not really in the mood for changing one group of masters for another. I wish to be taken to the Fae King.“
“You will meet him later anyway, he is a bit busy now.“
“No, no, not in that way. I wish to make my complaint.“
“Haven't we closed that topic already?“
“I demand my freedom back. You two said that King Eclipse could grant it to me if I convince him to. Although, I see now that this statement does not exclude you two being capable of the same thing and most likely you are just using the wording to trick me to stop asking you.“
“Can you blame us?“
“Yes. I blame you. And I judge you.“
In spite of it all, you had to admit the celestial princes were quite handsome and their appearance would normally be breathtaking, if you weren't meeting them under such circumstances.
In a resting position, their large wings almost appeared like regal capes. Complementary colours reigned in their respective palettes. Deep royal blues of Prince Moon's wings were speckled with tiny stars, while the rich golden hues of Prince Sun's had swirls of blue interwoven in their texture. In a way, the twins were perfectly symmetrical when it came to the design of their wings. Their attire was similar to that of jesters, but far more elaborate and indicative of their status. Silk and velvet were present, bejeweled buttons, finely tailored doublets.
Both of them were eager, lovestruck and needy. To a degree you almost felt like a lamp attracting a pair of silly mothlings. Which was fitting, considering they too had wings and all.
As Moon was still caressing you along your inner forearm, Sun could not resist nuzzling your hair. You could have sworn that you heard both of them purr. A part of you wondered how on earth did such a scene appear on the cameras, were you simply just floating around and talking to yourself? You internally apologized in advance to any poor security worker that would have to go through the recordings later.
Sun's voice brought you back from your silly reveries, his cheek resting on your head.
“As soft as silk.“
You had been somewhat aware that a pair of Fae had been hunting you for the past several weeks, but it was impossible to decipher their identity. Their glamour and shielding spells had been extremely powerful, their cunning unparalleled and their tricks endless. In many ways, they had been testing you, the purity of your heart and the strength of your soul. They would come to you, disguised either as lost little animals in need of help, or as injured humans in need of assistance. You would always help, no questions asked and always ignoring the warning tingle of enemy magic. Your mind had completely warped to the logic of the normal world and you no longer asked yourself the questions a witch would.
You did not suspect the odd new coworkers that had appeared out of nowhere either, nor did you seem to wonder where they had come from. You had simply accepted that you probably just never noticed them before and that they had always been there. A few pleasantries here, a few kind words there, and that had been all. Of course, all up till tonight when the name trick finally came to rip the veil of denial off.
You huffed, unphased by Sun's compliments regarding your hair.
“Were you the one that has been making those silly fairy-locks I kept waking up with? Those are impossible to untangle!“
“Technically you are not supposed to do that, elsewise you bring misfortune upon yourself. The poor keyboard on your laptop suffered a premature death because of that.“
“I really liked that laptop.“
“I know.“
“It was brand new.“
“May it rest in peace.“
You looked over at the little digital clock on a nearby desk. The witching hour was almost over and the power of the Fae would slightly weaken after four in the morning. If you somehow escaped them, maybe you could distract them enough till the desired hour strikes. Your magical weapons may at least have a fair chance afterwards.
You gasped as Moon leaned closer to you, his hand caressing your cheek, sliding down to your neck, distracting you with pleasurable sensations and making your spine tingle.
“What is going on in that pretty little head of yours, wishing star?“
“Nothing much, honestly.“
Both of them spread their giant wings, showing all of their glory, then draped them over you in what one may interpret as a soothing and protective gesture, but given the circumstances, it was also a demonstration of entrapment.
Impish jesters, forever grinning, forever teasing.
It was one thing to be bound and made to serve an ordinary fairy. It was a completely different thing to be serving the royal twins of the Celestial Court. They were dangerous, powerful, their stature surpassed even the tallest of humans, their urges were never satisfied and their desires never at rest. Not to mention that they were the most competent tricksters of the Fae kingdom.
Fairies were incapable of lying. Therefore, they had to resort to literal meanings and multiple interpretations, distortions, tricks. You could imply one thing that was perfectly accepted and understood in human society, but they would purposefully give it an obscure meaning that was still not a falsehood.
Your predicament was ironic in many ways. Embarassing even. To be precise, you came from a long line of magical practitioners that had been known over the centuries as the Cunning Folk. Various terms existed for such people, but in the modern times the closest definition would be light witches. It was an adequate name that differentiated them from warlocks or dark witches.
You, dear Y/N, had done your best in life to keep the madness of magic at bay. Yes, you knew how to ward yourself from curious spirits, you always had your trusted rolled up newspaper at the ready to hit the local boogeyman on the head when he was living rent-free under your bed, and pretty much every imp on the block knew to avoid you if they wanted to keep all their limbs attached.
Fae Folk, however, were a different story. Long ago, it had been a custom for the Fae to connect to members of the Cunning Folk in order to form a soul bond. A familiar and their witch, in a way. It had always been a connection stronger than any spell and a love more intense than any passionate marriage.
All of that had changed when the realm of the Fae had been afflicted by a darkness far more potent than any light spell could heal. The Hopes and Dreams of children had become scarce and all that was once joyful and innocent had become corrupted and ruined. The Fae King had become cruel and wicked, his once cheerful and loving demeanour had transformed into that of a deranged villain. He did have an odd shift of behaviour on certain birthdays, though, and this would usually take everyone aback for a solid twenty-four hours.
In light of all that, the Cunning Folk had gone into hiding and refused any new bonds with the Fae. This was unacceptable, since the Fae had depended immensely on the sweet nectar that human souls could provide, especially when that soul happened to be a magical one. Consequently, over the centuries the Fae had to resort to various tricks, from luring humans into their fairy circles, kidnapping them and taking them to their kingdom, tricking them with various word games and always having them fall in traps when they least expected it. Certain Fae were less malevolent and were simply in dire need and want of being parents to a child, so they would take human babies to raise them as their own, leaving changelings in their place.
And despite all your efforts, you still managed to become a captive. Go figure.
Prince Sun, ruler of the waking dreams, bringer of hope, and Prince Moon, protector of sleeping children and vanquisher of nightmares. All of those titles did sound pretty cute, but both of them were still impish fiends that loved to play pranks on adults. Oh, well, your time was running out, so you had to think of something fast. Or at least try to reach the little dagger with Runes that you had all nicely hidden and tucked away in a secret pocket of your trousers. You never knew when you would need to stab something supernatural. Or open an envelope.
You concocted a little plan and hoped for the best.
Trickery was not limited to the Fae and you lowkey felt proud of your cunning ways as you pulled Moon into a deep kiss, much to his initial shock. He began to eagerly reciprocate, the sweet haze of lust conspiring against him, your softness and loveliness engulfing his mind. Desire was a natural solvent to rational thought and you had no problems with using that against him. Sun, on the other hand, was both shocked, and slightly jealous, but he did know that something was off.
His suspicions were only confirmed when, in the span of several seconds, you pulled out a silver dagger with enough Runic carvings to obliterate a whole magical army, casually stabbed Moon's heart as if the very gesture was the most normal thing in the world, used Sun's surprise to wriggle out of his grasp and you ran away down the corridors like a feral kitten. Well, at least you were productive.
As you ran, your phone began to ring, conveniently giving up your location in the process, but oh well. It was Vanny, so of course you had to pick up.
“Y/N, where is that briefing paper that you were supposed to email me literally yesterday?“
“I'm in a bit of a situation, Vanessa.“
“What is it now?“
“Well, apparently I am getting married.“
“Congratulations, I still want that briefing.“
“I will call you back, alright?“
Meanwhile, Prince Moon was having a bit of an existential crisis. He stood there, shocked, dagger protruding from his heart.
Oh, yes, it hurt. It burned, stinged, all of the unpleasant things that one may imagine. However, it was nothing compared to how it could have been. The newly forged bond made him immune to most of your deadly spells and Runes, so at worst he would feel temporary pain and then it would cease.
In a way, his desire and respect for you only increased. A Fae always respected good examples of trickery.
Sun could not stop himself from wheezing, very much entertained with the situation.
“You really walked into that one, Moon.“
“Shut up.“
He would still make you pay for that little insult, nonetheless. The corridors had morphed into the same scenery over and over, the windows were suddenly sealed shut, the nearby doors leading to a dead end or into a void of eternal nothingness. You could no longer trust your senses, for mad whispers kept disrupting reality. Only a few more minutes, you hoped for only a few more minutes till the witching hour ends.
You were honestly an idiot for trusting your own luck.
Moon's voice echoed throughout the corridors, ominous and demonic. A bit spicy, as well.
“You should have saved that fire for the wedding night, wishing star.“
“Goodness gracious.“
It became rather obvious that Vanessa would not be getting that briefing paper anytime soon, nor would our good old William Afton be getting his early morning coffee next week, either. Or any week, for that matter. It was a tragedy beyond description, may he rest in pieces.
You had to stop to catch your breath, panting, perfectly aware of the fact that you were mostly screwed. Well, a part of your mind tried to add some rational remarks and told you that living with the Fae couldn't be that bad and at least you would hopefully be getting some really cute royal garments or something. When in doubt, at least material things never disappointed you.
Ghostly hands rose from the ground, grasping at your ankles, your calves, your thighs. You fell forwards unceremoniously and you would have experienced quite a hit to the ground had the hands not grasped you, shielding you from the hard floor.
“What a perfect way to spend my night, being manhandled seventy percent of the time.“
Wrestling them was useless, but at least there was more dignity in that than just doing nothing and thinking about the meaning of life till your captors arrived.
Prince Sun appeared first, somewhat sympathetic, but also visibly tired from all the shenanigans. He let you have your little moment of heroism, though.
“Take your time, darling one.“
“Oh, sod off.“
Prince Moon arrived soon after, eyes glowing a dangerous shade of crimson, the dagger still embedded in his chest. He pulled the blade out, his gaze following the path of the rivulets of blood, almost enchanted by the pattern they were making as they glided along the expertly made Runic symbols.
“Love the craftsmanship on this one. It would have been a poetic death. Stricken by a wishing star, tearing my heart asunder, red pearls the only gifts I have to offer.“
Sun went over to you, partially teasing, partially serious.
“Someone is a bit violent. Are you alright, darling one? Do you wish to talk about some unresolved issues?“
“You two are literally stealing me away.“
“It's not that bad. We shall be loving and caring consorts to you. After all, our bond is basically an engagement.“
“This is the shoddiest proposal ever. How is this even supposed to work, each of you gets their own day of the week?“
“We'll share equally.“
“Excuse me, I am not a meal.“
“Really? You do seem rather delicious.“
“This isn't fair. Do you have any idea how homesick humans can get in the realm of the Fae?“
“We have many spells designed to bedazzle the mind and encourage you to forget the mortal world. And everyone is nice in their own way once you get to know them.“
“You two had no other member of the Cunning Folk to bother and you just had to stumble upon me?“
The dark spell was lifted and you found yourself free. Well, not for long, since the twins were at your side once more. Sun kissed your hand like a true gentleman, his wings making the faintest flutter of joy.
“We searched for a heart of gold and dreams of hope.“
“And you decided to look in a law firm?“
“Bright light contrasts best against a shadowy background.“
“Can I see the terms and conditions of my service?“
“Oh? Good idea! You can read all of that on our way to the palace! It will be so much fun to explain it to you. Of course, the letters are inverted, so you will need a mirror just to read it.“
He conjured a seemingly reasonable rolled-up piece of paper, before letting it unfold. It reached the ground in a comical fashion and kept on going till the end of the corridor.
“Sun, that list is longer than the border of Ancient Rome.“
“Indeed! I had it shortened to make it easier for you.“
“Dear god.“
“I also must say that I wrote it myself. I do my fair share of corporate business and contracts with humans are my specialty, but I do prefer to engage in theater. I may have given a certain playwright a few tips on writing his special little Midsummer work.“
“Old Will? For real?“
“Wonderful chap to have a pint with at the pub. I am certain he would have had an aneurysm had he lived to see what his reputation had become nowadays. A cheerful knave being the main topic for school and homework? Scandalous. He was a most charming actor and a talented wizard of words. Had many a verbal battle with him, and I never managed to snag his soul. I fully respect him for that.“
“Good to know. Regardless, I still wish to talk to your brother about this whole affair. It is my right, considering the fact that I am not a normal human and I do have certain perks. I am certain that King Eclipse will have more respect for old customs than you two.“
Sun and Moon gave each other a look, before giggling at you, as if charmed by how silly your request was.
“King Eclipse? Darling one, do beware.“
“The knave stole the moonlight fair.“
“Neither fools nor traitors breathe for long in his lair.“
“Be our guest, challenge him, if you dare.“
You raised an eyebrow at their improvised little poetic endeavour, tilting your head, curious.
“Did you two just come up with that?“
“Well, we did think of incorporating a iambic pentameter somewhere in there, but we simply decided to free verse it.“
Needless to say that the whole charade continued even after they had conjured a portal to their world, taking you with them. You were playing a dangerous game, but realistically you had nothing to lose. Well, except your dignity and maybe your life, but nothing lasts forever anyway, so might as well.
Your case was one type of extreme. On the other end of the city, two members of the Fae species were in the process of “adopting“ a few bundles of joy. The bear Fae and the wolf Fae were aware that two children were very unhappy in their orphanage and oftentimes they would hear the little girl, Cassie, vocalize her wish to be taken away by magical creatures. The boy, Gregory, had nothing against any of that, as long as there was proper acommodation involved. He hated the hard old bed he had in the orphanage and the food was positively awful.
Of course, there had to be an equivalent exchange, so the two Fae had to bring some friends along. One of them was not too thrilled.
“Why are we doing this? I don't want to stay in the human world.“
“You only need to stay till the next full Moon, Bonnie, and then you will be free of the obligation. Monty will keep you company.“
“Monty is insane.“
“Don't be rude.“
“He pushed me off the stairs, Roxy.“
“Happens.“
Montgomery was far too busy exploring the wonders of a music player to really care where he was, honestly. A few broken orphanage windows and one angry half-blind nun later, the wolf Fae and the bear Fae had become proud new adoptive parents. Bonnie and Monty would have to serve as changeling replacements for a bit, but that is what happens when you lose fairy chess. You owe favours.
By the time Roxy and Freddy had returned home, Gregory had partially woken up, while Cassie was all snuggled in the soft pillows of her new bed. They boy looked around his new house, nonchalant and trying to read what was happening from the clues given.
“Have I been kidnapped?“
“Some may call it that.“
“By fairies? Like, a changeling type of situation?“
“Yes, but I assure you we are using all of the safety protocols that are necessary.“
“Well, I'll be damned.“
“We do wish to make the best effort and become your new family, Gregory. For you and Cassie.“
“Is that food over there? Cupcakes?“
“Oh, indeed, with buttercream and cherries.“
Gregory observed the treats for a good few moments, thought a bit, weighed all his options and of course made the best possible decision for himself in that type of situation. Fairy food was usually a forbidden thing, but he was already stolen anyway.
“I am a simple lad, I see free food and I cannot complain.“

Plant Shop Crush
Tumblr media
|PAIRING| Modern!Vash Amputee x black!reader female
|WORD COUNT| 4.3 K
|RATING| For Everyone
|SYNOPSIS| Vash works at the plant shop run by his adoptive parents Luida and Brad. You want to add plants to your apartment and aren’t very sure where to start so one day after missing a bus, you happen to notice a shop called ‘SEEDS’ and the cute guy that suddenly called out to you.
|A/N| Reader has asthma. I tend to not see enough fics where the reader has asthma. This isn't my first attempt at writing a one-shot, but it’s been a while since I’ve written one.
Can also be read on AO3
“It said in 5 minutes..” You thought to yourself and huffed as you tried to get to the large vehicle in time but to no avail. Running some mid afternoon errands, you saw the schedule for the bus that you usually take to and from the market.  Legs slowly coming to a stop as the vehicle pulled away, arms gently dropping to your side breathing more heavily than usual. You decided this was a good time to use your inhaler since you just got it refilled. Opening the brown paper bag, your free hand reached inside and pulled out the small white box. Before you could get it open, from the corner of your eye you noticed a plant. At that moment you were reminded that you’ve been wanting some plants for your apartment for a while now. It was to not only help for those days when you don’t go outside, but to bring more life into your place other than your little furry pet, your Siamese cat named Eclipse.
Turning your head there were more plants that your eyes laid upon. Looking up to see what store it could be, the sign above the entrance with capital lettering that spelled out ‘SEEDS’. Hand still holding the box that held your medicine you continued to open the box, shaking the small medicine you removed the cap and placed it between your brown lined and glossed lips. Pressing down on the small metal container it released the medicine as you took a deep breath which you then held for a few seconds before repeating the actions for a second time. Your eyes never left the sign reminding yourself of the store’s name. In case another bus decides to arrive early, you decided that you’d come back at a later date.
Meanwhile Vash noticed your figure outside of the store as you took your medication. His blue eyes watched as you looked at the plants and then the sign. Your dark mahogany hair was pulled up into a braided fro-hawk, your short curvy body dressed in  simple black cargo pants with a cropped red and white graphic tee. The blonde then noticed your white and black platform sneakers. His attention then was gathered to his mom who had nudged him and gestured for him to invite you inside. His face slightly changed to a soft pink, embarrassed by being noticed. He softly cleared his throat and moved towards you. “Excuse me,” He called out. “Would you like to take a look at more plants that we have inside?”. When your attention shifted to the tall male he felt his heart skip a beat, your round deep brown eyes looking at him as your plush glossed lip formed into a small sheepish smile.
“O-Oh, I’m good thank you. I sort of missed my bus and kinda don’t want to miss the next one.” You told him as you picked up your bag and pulled it onto your shoulder. Placing your inhaler into your pants pocket, you leaned your body back a bit to see if a bus was coming. Public transportation schedules are as random as a period, being late or early whenever it wants. “I definitely will come back when I can though, I’ve been meaning to get plants for a while.”
Vash softly nodded. “Ah okay, well we’re the best place for all kinds of plants” He smiled at you brightly. You couldn’t help but smile more at the male, he was cute and you wished you could talk to him a bit more. You peeked more into the store turning your head from left to right seeing plants of various sizes.
“Depending on which Bus you’re taking, both of them have been delayed” A different voice had spoken, it was a deeper voice than the guy in front of you. Looking past the guy in front of you,  you noticed an equally tall male with darker blonde hair that held up his phone. “I looked up the schedule for both, there’s some traffic going on so both buses have been delayed by 20 minutes.”
Vash gestured his head for you to come into the store. “Were there any specific types of plants that you were looking for?” He asked as he walked with you. Soft lofi music filled your ears for a moment before you nodded. There were specific plants in separate areas, you noticed small ones like small cacti and aloe, to large plants such as a palm trees the only ones that you recognize.
“Well I’m looking for an indoor-outdoor plant that’s at least safe for cats to be around” You told him as you looked around before your eyes landed back onto him before something cool and metallic gently brushed up against your hand. The man beside you had a prosthetic arm, you looked back up at him. “Ah sorry for staring, just sort of felt something cold touch my hand.”
“It’s no worries” He assured you, the mole on his cheek moving up as he smiled at you. “I’m used to it, sorry if it startled you.” He shifted to the side a bit to make space as he didn’t notice that he was standing a bit too close to you. The blonde softly furrowed his brows to think about which plant would be good for you. “We actually have many, some that can survive off  humidity from a simple shower.” He walked over to the smaller plants before picking up a striped leaf plant. “This is a Calathea Prayer Plant. There are about fifty 59 other species of Calathea making it sixty in total” Vash held out the plant for you to examine it, he watched as your eyes shifted as you looked at the various leaf sizes of the small plant. Lips curling into a small smile you nodded and looked up at Vash who quickly looked back at the plant before nodding as well. He placed the plant onto a cart nearby before moving over to the other plants that he had in mind.
“If you are forgetful, like me” He softly chuckled. “ The Haworthia Zebra plant is a great alternative to aloe plants and can survive weeks without water.”
“Speaking of  these need to be watered” A woman’s voice spoke from behind Vash startling him. “Excuse me Vash” The woman was taller than you but not as tall as the blonde who’s name you now know. “Welcome to SEED’s I hope he’s being very helpful to you” You could hear a soft giggle emit from the woman as she acknowledged how she had startled Vash.
“He’s being very helpful, I’m already liking the sounds of the plants Vash has explained to me so far” You warmly smiled at the older woman.
The way his name left your lips had Vash blushing a bit, he quickly turned away to notice Brad who smirked at him as he saw the young one blushing as knowing it was because of you. Turning his attention back to you and Luida, he had just heard Luida introduce herself to you. Being close to you Vash had noticed that you were wearing a soft perfume, it wasn’t from some of the flowers that were nearby. Though he barely knows you, he feels like it was the perfect scent for you as if you were a unique flower yourself.
“My name is Y/N “ You softly smiled and extended your hand out which Ludia gladly shook. You turned your attention back to Vash, your hand still held out to him which he didn't notice as his mind was occupied trying to pinpoint the smell of your perfume. It wasn’t until he was nudged by Luida for the second time.
This time a soft giggle escaped from your lips as Vash was startled once again. He looked at his mother and back down to you before noticing your outstretched arm and your hand in front of him. Taking it into his own he gently shook it, his free hand softly rubbing the back of his head as he smiled out of embarrassment. “Ah sorry– your uh perfume reminds of a few flowers we have here. It's very nice.” He admitted. “Y/N you said? It’s uh very nice to meet you”. Vash wanted to hide behind the register if he could.
“Nice to meet you too and thank you” You smiled. “Are these air purifying plants? I do want something that’s helpful for my asthma.”
“Oh the prayer plant is safe” Vash nodded before moving away a bit from Luida to show you more plants. “The spider plant is perfect for a small shelf in a room or on a desk if you have one. It’s perfectly safe for your pet as well.” He picked up the plant showing it to you, the little many leaves that remind you of overgrown blades of grass seeing where the name spider comes from.
“This is cute, just like you.” You smiled looking up at Vash who smiled as well. “I’ll definitely get this one”
Vash, having no idea for a moment that you mentioned that he was cute nodded before stopping in place as you gently took the plant from his hands. Hearing you softly giggle, his blue eyes looked as you smiled warmly at him. His face went red quickly. “Wow um thank you” He nervously laughed. ”Um so just the spider plant?” He asked as he walked over to the register.
“Brad could you come over and move this fern for me please” Ludia called for the older man that stood behind the register. He walked away from the register leaving you and Vash alone, though he and Ludia stood not too far from the register.
“So the spider plant is low maintenance,” Vash softly smiled as he turned his attention back to you and your new plant. “It only needs about bright to moderate sun exposure, and freshwater. Tap water has fluoride which can cause burnt tips in the plant.”
You nod as you type down the advice into your cell phone. “If I have any other questions should I call the store?” You ask him as you notice a card with the store’s information taking the small piece of paper into your hand from the stack of card copies.
As the opportunity had presented itself to Vash, he began to blush. “Yes, you can call the shop.” He nodded. “But we are closed on Mondays, so uh here–” He grabbed a pen and wrote his personal number on another card before handing it over to you. “Just in case you have questions and we happen to be closed you can call me.”
You smile and nod, taking the card and placing it into your pocket. “Thank you Vash, I really appreciate that.” You were pretty surprised that he gave you his number and hoped that the both of you could possibly chat about more than just plants. With that you paid for your plant. After stepping out of the store the bus that you were waiting for had arrived on time, you waved bye to Vash and his parents as you stepped onto the bus.
____________________________________________________________
After a while you had been taking care of you and just like you had hoped, you and Vash had been talking to each other for a while. Though you still hadn’t learned what happened to his arm you sensed that it was probably a sensitive topic to bring up. You visited the shop when you could and once you were ready had gotten your second plant for your apartment. When hanging out with Vash you both would go to the park and walk around and chat, some days he would even accompany you when you have to pick up your medicine which you appreciated. Other things that you learned about Vash is that he can easily strike up conversations with different types of people. You noticed by the different types of people that visit the shop on days that you stop by that Vash could make those who aren’t familiar with plants what type of plants suit them and their lifestyle as well help them understand how to care for that plant.
Everyday that you and Vash are around each other, you find yourself falling for the blonde more and him the same, except Vash day dreams more or finds himself staring at you more than usual when you stop by the shop and are chatting with his mom showing her pictures of you cat with your plants. Luida and Brad notice how Vash tends to talk about you a bit more especially when you aren’t there, just from a simple word that reminds him of you. Brad of course teases him causing him to blush and whine out of embarrassment. One day he openly tells you about him being taken in by Luida and Brad after the loss of his real mom due to a car accident which also resulted in the loss of his arm at the age of 11. You were glad that he got comfortable enough to tell you such a personal thing. When he also mentioned his twin you could see the hurt in his eyes as he tells the story, though after he tells it he manages to smile being glad that he had Luida and Brad but also having met you and his other friends Nicolas and Meryl. To which you’ve also met when you visited the shop.
One afternoon  you wake up from a nap  with a tight feeling in your chest. Only able to take short breaths, you realize you're having an asthma attack. You reach out and grab your inhaler from your bedside table and use it. You try to take deep breaths but it doesn’t help, you grab your phone and dial 911. When you explain your situation as best as you can, you are able to get help. While waiting an uncomfortable feeling hits your gut and you find yourself rushing to the bathroom as quickly and steadily as you can without making your asthma attack worse. As soon as you make it inside, push up the lid and the seat of the toilet and release the contents of what you ate that morning. Your groan from the pain while still trying to maintain your breathing. You tiredly stand up and flush the toilet before washing your hands and rinsing your mouth out. Moving back to your room as slowly as possible you grab your bag while your cat meows at you with concern, you slip on your crocs and a zip up hoodie and move towards your living room.
Within 10  minutes the ambulance arrives and gets to your apartment. Since you lived on the ground floor, the EMT’s didn’t have to take too long to get to you. Your apartment Just as they arrived seeing you sitting on the floor as you were far too tired to  even get onto the couch. Meanwhile Vash wanted to surprise you with a visit and flowers, seeing the ambulance, the blonde’s dark brows softly furrowed, the look of concern on his face. He hoped whoever was having a medical emergency he hoped they were alright.
As soon as he walks into the building he stops in his tracks once he sees your familiar figure laying on the stretcher with the EMT taking you to the ambulance truck. “Y/N!” He calls out getting close to the EMT.
“Do you know him ma’am?” the EMT asks you just as you reach your hand out for Vash nodding. Vash looks at your apartment manager and hands them the flowers.
“Please take care of them for me, please they’re for her.” He tells them
They allow Vash into the ambulance  after they get you inside. You look at Vash who held your hand, while one of the EMT’s sat in the back and made sure you were strapped onto the stretcher. You breathed deeply as you could as you could slightly hear wheezing emitting from you even with the loud sounds of the siren.
“When’s the last time you used an inhaler?” the EMT asked.
“This morning.” You breathed out through the mask as you breathed in the oxygen.”I used my flovent.”
Nodding the EMT continued to ask the basic questions of your information to which Vash kindly helped.  She then checked the window of the door from the back of the ambulance to see where the vehicle was before her attention went back to you and Vash. “We’re almost there” She assured the both of you but mostly looking at a concerned Vash who’s eyes stayed on you. He watched as you breathed in as much oxygen as you could before breathing out.
Once the ambulance stopped, the EMT, a male, that was driving got out of the driver’s seat while the other temporarily removed the oxygen mask from you before getting the male EMTs help to move your stretcher out of the vehicle.  Vash followed from behind as they moved you through the hospital and into a room. A nurse nearby helped you into the bed adjusting it’s height to have you elevated and placed you on oxygen once again as the EMTs spoke to the doctor. Vash sat in a chair close to your bed silent still looking worried. You gently touched the nurse and temporarily moved the oxygen mask. You were feeling nauseous suddenly and tried your best to hold it back so you wouldn’t throw up all over yourself.
“I need a bucket..” You softly told the nurse, once she heard what you said she left the room quickly before returning with a bucket. As soon as she gently placed the plastic bin onto your lap you released whatever was left in your stomach again. Tears pricking your eyes at the painful feeling of the sudden release, your one free hand squeezed the edge of the hospital bed before feeling a warm and cold hand gently enveloping it. Vash held your hand not letting go even once you had finished.
The nurse had then taken the bucket away once you assured her that you were fine for now. She had then disappeared into the bathroom of your room to discard the contents of the bucket and clean it out before returning it to you and leaving once again and returning to do the usual check up stuff. Once she got your temperature and blood pressure she gave you a gown to change into and  cup for you to pee in. She helped you up and into the bathroom before giving you privacy to pee.
There were many thoughts running through Vash’s head and he didn’t want to lose someone again. Though you were able to stand and move around even with help. He couldn’t help that lingering feeling of the worse case scenario. Though he knows that you’ve dealt with asthma attacks before and you know that you’re prepared for the worst case, it just felt scary to him. The click from the door being unlocked and opening took Vash out of his thoughts, his blue eyes went from looking at the floor to looking up at you in the hospital gown being helped back into bed as the nurse took the cup from you. Another nurse enters the room with a nebulizer on a cart with a solution for you to take. Just then the doctor walks in after the two nurses leave.
“Hello, I’m Doctor Stein.” She introduced herself. “I see you are in for an asthma attack, from the EMT’s notes you said you showed no signs that morning of a possible attack and took your required medication.” She had looked over the papers and back at you to which you nodded yes in response.
“I take flovent in the morning and my usual allergy medicine which is flonase and zyrtec.” You tell her as the doctor nods and takes an otoscope to check your ears, then  an ophthalmoscope to check your eyes. You could tell that Vash looked nervous for you, and you have given him a thumbs up to assure him that you’ll be okay.
“Because of the severity of your attack we’ll have you stay overnight just in case of any changes.” The doctor tells you. “If no changes happen, you can be released tomorrow afternoon, if your boyfriend can bring you some clothes of course.” She softly smiled at you both.
Vash immediately gets flustered and looks at you then the doctor. “O-oh no we aren’t dating” He shyly smiled. Though you two weren’t official, he liked that the doctor assumed so.
Nearly a month later since your release from the hospital Vash had been out of it more than usual. Though it didn’t seem like it to strangers, you could tell mostly by his eyes. Though his smile made it seem like he was okay, you knew that wasn’t the case. You were very careful with your asthma and some days when hanging with Vash he still wanted you to be careful, especially one day while out with him it had suddenly rained. You two decided to head back to your apartment and instead of letting you run, Vash carried you the whole way, letting you wear his jacket over your head. Despite having to tell him that you could run he refused to even put you down. Even a small sneeze would get him concerned, and you’d have to tell him jokingly that your allergies were just reminding you that they still exist.
One day while Vash was over at your apartment, which was now fairly decorated in assortment of plants that you had gathered over time and taken care of with Vash’s help Eclipse was sitting in his lap enjoying him petting her purring loudly as she had gotten comfortable around Vash. The blonde had looked over at you in your kitchen as you told him wanted to make both of you lunch, even though he offered to help you simply told him that he was a guest and that you know he can’t refuse Mocha pets.  Once lunch was made, which was salmon cakes with rice and spinach, to which Vash dearly enjoyed, you both sat out on your balcony on your bunch while Mocha took a nap inside.
“Vash, I'm glad you were there last month.” You admit as you watch people in your building walk through the courtyard. “I usually hate being alone at the hospital, especially after an attack.”
The blonde looked over at you just as the clouds had gently parted, the sun shining in your brown eyes that looked over at him. Vash couldn’t help but blush at the way they sparkled and looked like pools of chocolate, your two toned plush glossed lips pulled into a small smile with your one small dimple making its presence known. It was like he was looking at a goddess right next to him, your hair was braided and was placed in a high-low ponytail decorated with gold accessories.
“I’m glad I could be there for you.” Vash smiled. “Though I didn’t say much at that time, I honestly was really scared for you.” Worried had shown on his face once again before being completely erased as you had suddenly reached over and kissed his check leaving a mixture of a warm brownish pink on his pale cheek which quickly turned red as he began to blush.
“I was scared I’ll admit but having you there really helped me.” You tell him as you gently grab his hand. “Having met you, your family and friends has helped me feel less alone since I moved here.”
Vash still in a trance from feeling your plush lips touch his cheek softly nodded. A giggle escaped your lips as you waved your hand in front of his face. “Hey earth to Vash Stampede” You say. “I’m trying my best to tell you how I feel–” You were quickly silenced by Vash as he pressed his lips against your own. Feeling you smile against his lips was enough to assure him that he in fact wasn’t dreaming. His heart raced more and more even as you both parted, seeing you look at him with the way he finds himself looking at you. The look that everyone else saw him do when you were near him made him feel very warm.
“Actions speak louder than words, but to assure you” Vash gently smiled. “I love you Y/N.” His eyes spoke more than anything and he wasn’t lying. Smiling once again you leaned in for another kiss before a soft meow could be heard by the both of you. Looking behind you, Eclipse gently pawed at Vash. Both of you laughed as Vash picked up your furry feline.
“I love you too Vash” You smiled happily being able to have this moment with your plant shop crush.

For Star Holder, I have a question.
I am rather interested in the parents in Star Holder. May I ask for some acts about them (You can exclude Obscura if you want, I understand she already has some fact about her on this blog.)
(dw obscura, i still love you)
Hello!
Let's list the parents! <3
Solaris and Obscura (Sun and Eclipse's dad and mom)
Solaris facts can be found here! I did these a while back.
And here are Obscura's, for those who missed that post!
Terra and Ursa (Pluto's dad and mom)
Tumblr media
-Terra, baby Pluto (10), and his wife Ursa <3
Terra is the previous forge god and a rather notable greater god.
-Though, he's quite antisocial and prefers to show his care through the things he makes.
-He specialized in jewelry, rather than weapons. Pluto chose weaponry as her focus because she wanted to know all her friends were safe. Whereas Terra believed his friends capable of handling all situations without use of deadly force.
-Ursa was a minor goddess of the springtime.
-She was very focused on the growth of plants and flowers.
-Ursa fell for Terra almost immediately. She loved his big himbo energy. <3
-Ursa did push Pluto to socialize, but only because she knew how bad Terra struggled with his own social anxieties.
-Terra and Ursa made the decision to create Pluto, rather than have her the way humans do. They did this by planting a seed under the star's light and coming back everyday to bless the seed for YEARS.
-Thanks to their dedication, Pluto was born very strong. They say she split the earth all by herself when she emerged!
-Even though Terra was a mountain of a man, he was quite gentle! His familiar was a little squirrel that he tried to rescue but ultimately didn't make it.
-Ursa took an owl as her familiar! A wise and noble creature that had a grudge against Terra's squirrel to the bitter end.
Luna (Moon's mom)
Tumblr media
-Luna and Moon (age 13)
-The previous moon goddess!
-Was really well known for her passion for academics and magic.
-Also had a cat for her familiar named Twilight!
-Luna was the kind of woman everyone wants to be (or be with). She was confident, social, and overall very sweet. There were very few people who could say anything bad about her.
-She was also pretty darn sassy
-And while she was known for her kindness, she held a quiet distaste for Solaris her whole life.
-Much like Terra, Luna chose to have Moon the way greater gods traditionally do! She grew him in a fish tank that she kept where it could receive the moon's light each night. <3
-When Moon came out and said he wanted to transition, Luna was fiercely supportive and protective of her son.
-Luna always believed Pluto and Eclipse would end up getting married and was quite shocked when she learned that wasn't the case
-Luna was good friends with Elusia! They often met to talk and enjoy tea together. She encouraged him to start writing after he lost his wife as a way to express his grief.
-She's a lesbian. Just. So very soft for women. (Looking at you, Obscura)
-After Obscura married Solaris, Luna resolved to focus on her studies instead of romance. Thus, she never married.
-Luna loved to collect cursed and rare magic items. She was very interested in lifting curses as a hobby.
-The one item she never could purify was this creepy old book about a rabbit king. :)
Shafaer vi Welunna Thurkear and Elaine (Lunar's dad and mom)
Tumblr media
-(Left to right) Erid (13), Lunar (10), Welunna, Nana (8), Elaine, and Clyde (11)
-"Shafaer vi Welunna Thurkear" translates to 'on a moonless night'. His name literally means New Moon. Though, most just called him Welunna, as he lived in an area where draconic was common.
-A god of lies and deals, a trickster! Much like his son.
-Elaine was a human woman whom Welunna loved dearly. She moved to the village Lunar grew up in in order to learn medicine from the dragons <3
-Elaine and Welunna had three children the way humans do. (Lunar's siblings)
-Welunna created Lunar the way other gods are created <3 Elaine wasn't able to help with magic, but she would bring new herbs to the spot Lunar was planted every day and prey for him to grow up strong
-When Lunar was born with four arms, Welunna was so proud, he wept
-Welunna loved to tell stories to the local children and often put on little plays using his gift of illusion. Elaine helped do the voices!
-When Elaine passed on, Welunna focused more of his time on working to ensure all of his children and grandchildren would have a stable future.
-Elaine lived a very long, happy life.
-When Lunar introduced Welunna to Aya, Welunna first words were "I knew you'd choose someone gentle".
-Welunna loved his family. But he refused to tell them anything about his own parents until he was on his deathbed.
-When Welunna passed, his final words to his children were "Don't hold onto hate". This was because he didn't want any of them to end up like his mother had.
-Welunna and Elaine were very well-loved members of their community. When Welunna died, the dragons gathered to give him a farewell ceremony.

Hi hi hello its me again
Same anon from sea-monster reader anatomy
I'm currently lying awake on my bed thinking abt this instead of sleepin, but in one of the posts (first one where you presented the concept i think) u said sea monster reader slowly learned words like thank you and eclipse and all that in worded sentences
If so how did they communicate before that
Was it trial and error like when a cat keeps meowning and you dont know what the heckty heck they want? Did they understand somewhat what each other was saying even without being able to replicate said language? (Like when you can understand English but can't for your life's sake pronounce a single sentence properly [aka me])
Maybe its just the power of love who knows who am i to judge
Anyway that was all im gonna try to sleep now cuz its 4am hope you have a good day/night 🌷
I don't promise to not come up with more questions my bad abt that
HEY I LOVE GETTING QUESTIONS LIKE THIS DONT U EVER NOT SEND THEM
And i think of it a lot like both 'cat meowing but u dont know what they want' AND 'i can understand you but cant make the words' sort of? like Sea Monster Reader could understand Eclipse vaguely enough to get the idea of what he was saying, but could not, for a long time, make the words or figure out which words meant what, and Eclipse would try his best to understand whatever Sea Monster Reader wanted or was talking abt but their language barrier was just too much.
A LOT of it was reading the tone, at the very beginning. Eclipse would use a soft and gentle voice around them, and move slow and careful to show he didn't want to hurt them. If anyone else got too close with too much curiosity, he would use a growling, angry snap to chase them away, sometimes physically forcing them. He was always gentle or soft when he tended to their injuries, which was a lot coming from him, they were like the first person he was ever nice to skfdsdjfhs
Sea monster Reader, on the other hand, communicated a lot through gestures and body language. Sometimes they would try to speak in their own language, but it was obvious Eclipse was like ??? so they only did that when they wanted to say something they didnt really want him to understand. (at least once they would say smthn like "i dont understand why you are being nice to me. a killer doesnt deserve so much kindness" in their own language, knowing he wouldn't be able to understand it at al)
There was a LOT of improv in the beginning, and like can u imagine how surprised Eclipse was when they said his name for th first time,, i love these idiots bumbling their way thru being so different but also very in love,,

Eclipsed
So, that Moon Knight/Venom What If..? novel got announced and gave me some Ideas. One of which is below. This is my own version of that What If..?, based on The Goldfish Problem.
Admittedly, I’m not entirely satsified with how this one came out. But there’s nothing actually wrong with it that I can see, and it’s basically done so, good or bad, here it is. Enjoy and be gentle.
---
The cheer Steven had kept up for his Mum’s sake faded rapidly once he hung up. He wasn’t sure which was worse: the nightmare that woke him, the fact his goldfish was dead/stolen and being impersonated, the “date”, the steak (and the inevitable stomach ache he so looking forward to), or the boldfaced lie he’d just finished telling his Mum. Either way, it had offically been the worse day of Steven’s life so far. A shaky sigh followed him to the door.
A clatter from the nearby alley replied. Suprisingly, the sound didn’t make him jump. Steven stepped forward towards it, chocolate box cradled to his chest like a shield.
A bin sat tipped on its side. A wave of foolishness washed over Steven. Of course it was nothing, what was he expecting? Movement caught his eye. “Probably just a cat,” he thought and almost turned around. Until it moved into the light.
A black liquid flowed feebly into his sight. Not blood. And moving under its own power. Steven felt a chill go up his spine. Everyone now knew aliens were real, was this one of them? What did it want? Was it hostile? What kind of damage could it do? And yet, even as these very real concerns were raised by his mind, he couldn’t help but feel sorry for it.
It looked tired, as it flailed about. Like something on its last legs. “Hello mate,” Steven said softly, trying not to spook whatever it was as he opened the box of chocolates, “it’s not much, and I don’t know if you can eat...Well, anything really. But, how’s about this then?”
A single ball was lightly rolled towards the goo, stopping when it touched the creature. A tiny tentacle curled around the chocolate and paused. Suddenly it was yanked into its mass. The creature seemed to go into an instant sugar rush, quickly moving closer to Steven, reaching its gooey body closer to the box. “Ok mate, ok,” Steven reassured the creature, setting the box down and watching as, one by one, each into its viscous body. At least the chocolates weren’t being wasted.
With a sigh, Steven found himself sitting against the wall and watching the creature swirl with delight. “’Least one of us is having a good evening,” he said softly to himself. As if hearing him, the puddle stopped and began crawling over to him.  Slowly, it inched closer until it was by his hip, then it climbed onto his lap and sat there, pressed agianst his belly. “It’s Sunday, did you know that?” Steven suddenly asked, “well, can’t imagine you could anwser me even if you did. It is Sunday, and I went to sleep Thursday.”
His hand settled into the goo, assuming a petting motion. “It sounds wrong, innit? It should be Friday, but it isn’t,” Steven picked up speed, panting as he went, “I mean, you just don’t sleep for two days straight? I’d be feeling a lot more awake if that was the case! I’ve-” He paused as reality set in: “I’ve lost two days.”
Steven didn’t dare think about that nightmare, becuase it had to be a nightmare. It was not real. He just slept for two whole days. He didn’t wake up in the Alps being shot at, yelled at by a voice asking for someone called Marc, then running from some sort of cult. Nope, no, it was not real. It couldn’t be real.
Before he could stop himself, Steven burst into tears.
---
Venom wasn’t heartless. Well, in a literal sense they were. But in terms of empathy, they were definently not. They actually wanted to keep their hosts, something that the rest of their kind did not agree with. Sadly, keeping hosts was near impossible when they couldn’t get what they needed.
They were so tired when the human found them. Venom was too weak to even try and make him their host. Then soft words and something gently bumping into them changed that. “Yes, perfect!” Venom thought after a quick taste. More was needed though, but the human was so thoughtful in lowering the box for them. Quickly, each little ball of sweet relief was devoured.
For the first time since arriving on this rock, Venom felt somewhat full. It wasn’t perfect, but it beat death. The human had at some point moved to sit by the wall. He sounded sad, lonely. Hopeful, Venom crawled closer to their savior. He watched but made no move to avoid them, even when they climbed onto his lap. Microscopic tendrils effortlessly and painlessly penetrated the potential host’s skin. And the greatest surprise greeted them.
His cells accepted them. Vaguely, Venom was aware of the potential, no, ideal host’s hand beginning to rub so gently along their mass as this revelation rippled through them. He was perfect.
The growing agitation was alarming though. Was he aware of what they were doing? Was he scared? The sudden pause followed by tears doubled this alarm, but a quick tasting of his bloodstream provided all the answers Venom needed. The host was just stressed and so very, very tired.
With some difficulty, Venom flexed their mass so part of them flopped over the host’s shoulder in mimicry of other humans providing comfort. The host instantly held them close, leaning forwards as if to sob over an imaginary shoulder. And if the position happened to allow Venom more space to insert more tendrils, well, that was their little secret.
For a while, they both sat there. A bond growing without one’s knowledge, but both providing and receiving comfort.
Venom almost didn’t notice when the host’s tears dried as they drifted off to sleep. Once when he almost slumped over did they notice. “Well,” Venom thought, “here’s my chance.” And flowed inside.
Opening the body’s eyes took more effort than Venom had thought. But they yeilded, exposing a thin layer of Venom’s mass covering them for just a moment before retracting. With a faint groan, Venom got the body back to its feet. Flicking through memories like a public speaker trying to find a flash card, they searched for a safe place to fully bond. “Lucky,” Venom mentally noted when they realised their new host lived in the complex they were looking at. Grinning in a way more fitting of their combined form, they moved to go inside when they remembered.
The chocolate box lay discarded on the floor. Steven/Marc/Jake had been so polite by helping them. He didn’t need to, could have gone straight back inside. But he stayed and saved them.
It wasn’t polite to litter.
With blackening veins, Venom’s hands scooped up the box, making sure none of the little wrappers flew out before dropping it in the same bin as the untouched bouquet. A smaller smile sat on their face as Venom entered the building and headed straight for the lift.
As the lift went up, Venom could feel someone stiring in the mind. While talks would need to be had about their situation (and Venom was not keeping anyone in the dark, thank you), it was too early for that. With a silent apology, Venom gently pushed whoever it was back down. A calming breath filled the small space of the lift, just as the doors opened. Unblinking eyes scanned each number as they walked down the hall with a predator’s stride. Once at the right door, Venom fished out the keys and was inside.
More veins visibly darkened along the body’s neck as Venom breathed a sigh of relief. Their host’s immune system was starting to notice their presence and it was only a matter of time before the fever set in. Nodding to themself, Venom slowly began to plan the rest of the night.
Have a quick drink of water, crying could have made the host dehydrated. Brush the teeth. Wash the body. Change into light clothing. Lock and tape the front door. Spread sand around the bed. Make sure water and paracetamol are within reach of the bed. And strap on the ankle restraint.
As soon as the restraint was attached, a light breeze flew over Venom, ruffling the body’s hair slightly. Looking up, Venom unflinchingly met the eyesockets of a bird skull-head figure at the end of the bed. Two thirds of the memories he appeared in, while the other knew him only in relation to his interest. Venom tilted the head in sync with the god before them. “No thundering voice for little old me, then?” Venom couldn’t help it. Even when their own voice was similar but now akin the body’s. The god just stared.
A chuckle, and they laid down. “Hopefully,” Venom mused as they turned their focus inside the body, “Steven will call in sick tomorrow.” The body and all but one within slept.

Eclipse LIVES for any kind of positive attention. A pat on the head, being told he's doing a good job and a snack and he'll do anything for you
It had been two weeks since Callie decided to allow the little darkling to stay with her. Silver was thrilled—he liked visiting and playing with Sonic and his brothers, but sometimes got bored or lonely when he was at home and it was just him. Now he had his own ‘brother’ to play with, even if the librarian wasn’t completely, 100% on board with Eclipse staying permanently.
Truth be told, she was still a little sore at the kid for chomping her arm. Petty? Sure. But having a kid with shark teeth latch onto you and require almost two dozen stitches could make just about anyone a little wary.
Eclipse, for the most part, seemed to settle in okay. He could still spook if she moved too fast around him, and seemed more comfortable around Silver than her, but he hadn’t done anything overly threatening toward either of them for a while. The most she encountered was a bit of hissing, but even that didn’t strike her as overly aggressive. Kid was just skittish.
Today she sat on the couch, reading, as her cats lay curled next to her. The boys (and didn’t it feel strange to use the plural version of that word now?) were outside playing, and she was enjoying the quiet. Callie reached toward the side table for her drink, and only found empty air. She glanced over with a raised eyebrow, and discovered the side table empty. She checked the coffee table. No drink.
“What the hey,” she muttered, and leaned to the side to look into the kitchen. Her glass sat on the island, right where she’d put it after pouring it. She rolled her eyes at herself. She’d never brought it in with her when she sat down. And now she was comfortable, and her cats had her trapped.
So she did what any comfortable and somewhat lazy parent would do.
“SILVER!”
She bellowed it practically loud enough for the Wachowski family to hear, clear on the other side of town. After a few seconds the kitchen door squeaked open, and footsteps approached the archway into the living room.
But instead of a gray hedgehog, she spied a little black and red darkling. He peered at her around the archway, his gold-on-black eyes watching her with caution.
“Oh, hey there,” she said, a little smile on her lips. She tried to be kind toward the boy, despite her own reservations concerning his previous behavior. “Can you do me a favor, kiddo?”
He furrowed his brow, suspicious of her request.
“Can you please go in the kitchen and bring me that glass of water on the island? Carefully, so it doesn’t spill.”
Eclipse continued to stare at her, eyes narrowed in suspicion, before he turned and walked to the kitchen island. He glanced back at her for a second, before reaching up to carefully take hold of the glass of water. Walking slowly, he brought the cup to her, and handed it over without a word.
Callie couldn’t help but smile. He’d done as she asked without argument. She reached forward to gently caress his head with a hand.
“Good job, kiddo,” she said, her voice soft and kind. “Thank you.”
The boy froze, eyes wide.
“What?” The redhead furrowed her brow in confusion. “What’s the matter?”
He stared at her for a long moment, before opening his mouth to speak. A rough croak came out at first—she got the idea he hadn’t spoken much before coming to Earth—but he cleared his throat and tried again.
“G-good job?”
She cocked an eyebrow at him. “Yeah? You brought me my water and didn’t spill a drop. You did a good job.”
He continued to stare at her. His tail gave a quick flick, and she couldn’t tell if it was from anxiety, excitement, or something else. She couldn’t read him that well yet.
“Has no one ever said that to you before?”
Nothing. Then he slowly shook his head.
Callie looked at him for a long moment, before something clicked in her head. His behavior around her was drastically different than his behavior around Silver. With the hedgehog, he was playful and energetic. With her, he was quiet and withdrawn, often peering at her out of the corner of his eye with suspicion. He usually kept to all fours around her, looking for all the world like a scared dog expecting a kick.
At first she simply thought it was because she’d swatted him with her broom at their first meeting, or maybe he felt guilty about biting her. But now, she wondered if there was more to it.
She wondered if someone had hurt him in the past. And that made her see him in a much different light.
“Eclipse,” she started, taking care to keep her voice soft and calm. “Do you want to do something else for me?”
The darkling’s brows shot up in surprise, and he nodded vigorously.
“Can you go to the hall closet and bring me a blanket?” She wasn’t really cold, but he didn’t need to know that.
The kid was off like a shot, hurrying to the closet and throwing the door open hard enough to make it bang off the wall. He flinched, casting a quick glance back to her, but she only smiled back. Eclipse grabbed for the blankets and snagged two of them, before rushing back to the couch and holding them out to her.
Callie took them with a smile, and reached out to stroke his head again. This time he leaned into it.
“Good job, sweetie,” she said, keeping her voice soft. “That was a very good job.”
A grin spread across his muzzle then, an honest-to-God smile that lit his face like a spotlight. His tail flicked in sharp movements behind him.
“More!” he cried, bouncing on the balls of his feet. “What else?”
The librarian couldn’t help but smile back. This was more animated than she’d ever seen him around her, and all because she showed him a little positive attention. She gave a little hum as she thought.
“Could you run and grab my phone? It’s on the desk over there.” She pointed and off he went.
Over the next five minutes, Callie sent Eclipse to fetch various random things; a bag of potato chips, a pair of socks, some treats for the cats, the remote control. And each and every time he successfully brought something to her, she praised him and gave him a gentle caress on his head, muzzle, or cheek. The boy’s tail whipped and snapped back and forth in excitement and happiness.
“You’re a good boy, Eclipse,” she said after the last successful retrieval. He froze again, the smile fading from his lips as he looked at her in shock. “No one’s ever told you that, either.”
It wasn’t a question. The darkling stood and stared at her for a few seconds, before shaking his head. Callie gave him a sad look, pulling her lips tight as she caressed his muzzle.
“Well, I’m glad, and sorry, to be the first,” she said, her voice soft. She leaned closer and lowered her voice to a whisper. “Because you are a good boy. And I think you’ve always wanted to be. You just didn’t have anyone give you the chance before.”
She pulled back, and the boy stood and stared at her. His eyes looked a little shinier than they had a moment ago, and to Callie he looked younger than he did before. He stared at her for a while, and opened his mouth to say something when a voice shattered the silence.
“Eclipse!” Silver called as he ran into the house. “What are you doing? I thought we were playing?”
Human and darkling looked back toward the kitchen door, and found a hedgehog with his hands on his hips and a little furrow in his brow. He flicked his amber eyes between them for a few seconds, before settling on Eclipse. “Well?”
The darkling turned back to Callie, who gave him a little smile and nod. “Go on. Thank you for your help. I appreciate it.”
Eclipse looked like he wanted to say something, but then closed his mouth. He turned to walk back outside with Silver, before stopping and glancing back at Callie once more. A little smile curled his lips, and then he was gone, racing the hedgehog in the backyard.
Callie let out a little sigh. Maybe keeping the kid wasn’t such a bad thing.
She turned and reached for her water, but with all the stuff Eclipse had brought her piled around, she couldn’t quite reach it.
A harsher sigh left her lips, and she fell back against the couch with an annoyed grunt.

And thus, Lunara and Solstaire discover the ultimate joy in life: tickling Lunars. They both know what tickling is, but neither one has actually done any tickling before. Or been tickled. Peanut is their very first victim. Clipsy’s gonna have to stop them before they (mostly Lunara) accidentally tickle Peanut unconscious.
Piper is getting snuggled until Pyroclasm gets bored. They’re feeling talkative enough to mention that they usually drop kids off at the Daycare, because human kids are too delicate and breakable. But other DCAs are free game! Especially the dirty ones, (in this case referring to whatever’s probably leaking out of Clipsy’s broken ray) those ones are clearly homeless and up for grabs!
Sun awkwardly offers to help with the broken ray again. Clipsy gets told that he and Peanut can stay as long as they want. They can take the room they were making for Eclipse and Solar Flare, who have been bunking with Moon and KC. (Earth and Bloodmoon were sleeping in the theater, and Lunar’s been bunking with Sun and his cats).
Kidclipse can’t wait to introduce Peanut to his best friend and their sorta-step-brother-but-also-not-really, Gregory!
Torp just registers Clipsy and Peanut to the system, points at where the main console is, and then goes back to his day.
Good. For Antumbra, anyone who can tolerate his shit is getting attached to very quickly (yay abandonment issues and trauma). He’ll start doing little nice things for them, like covering Clipsy in a blanket if he looks tired, or leaving Peanut’s favorite snacks lying around. He’ll even be downright soft if they seem to be having bad days.
Just regular Eclipse stuff : ). Not that they’d recognize her as an Eclipse since she’s the one who looks like Eclipse and Glam Freddy had a kid together. Brief house tour before bed, including the warnings: -Don’t go downstairs because Monty lives there. -Everything they say is potentially being recorded because Vanny likes to bug their house. -Be careful because Circus Baby keeps potions in the fridge, including a thicc anime girl transformation potion and a human potion, and one of the water guns is loaded with a potion of forgetting. -Don’t touch Ennard’s Doritos or Baby’s icecream.
I forgot Honey! Honey Bakely and KC would adopt Peanut and Clipsy immediately. The Bloodmoon twins will be a bit grumbly and bully them a bit, and Eclipse will get jealous of Clipsy and be in denial about it and be extra mean to him and Peanut.
Peanut is just turned into hysterical giggly paste by them. He’s going to be a limp noodle by the time it’s over with. Clipsy finds it hilarious
Clipsy brings up that while it was technically right about them being homeless, they had literally just arrived so they had like zero time to acquire a home. Piper says that trying to apply logic is pointless.
He’d accept suns offer to fix the ray, since it’s definitely something that should be fixed even if it’s not super painful. It’s still rather annoying and overly sensitive in it’s damaged state.
Peanut gives Gregory a little pat on the head. He finds it cute they’re friends with a human!
Torp treats this as if it’s a typical Tuesday lmao
Ah yes the reverse psychology. If you can deal with the toxic shithead behavior then he will vibe with you. Like a tsundere XD
Clipsy doesn’t even want to know why they have a thicc anime girl potion. It’s honestly for the best he doesn’t, the answer would only scar him more.
Clipsy is not going to appreciate this other eclipse and will return his rudeness with his own snark and sarcasm, doing little things to annoy him. Like the petty shit he is.

Random Berserk HC's: Guts Edition
Because I should be writing bridge scenes but want to be lazy because I am tired. Some of these are supported by canon and are kinda just character observations, some are things my brain made up because it could. WARNING: dark content and a mini essay ahead.
Guts has impressive large motor control, able to finesse with a sword extremely well. However his fine motor control is pretty trash, comparatively. Don't ask him to crack eggs unless you want some extra calcium spontaneously added to your diet.
In spite of his strength, though, he can be pretty gentle. With things that are really small and delicate, he might have an accident, but if he's touching someone, or petting something, he can be very tender.
Speaking of - Guts is definitely a cat person. Dogs are too loud and too chaotic, plus he has some questionable experiences with them. But cats? Cats are cool. Cats can't betray you because that's just not the relationship you have with a cat in that kind of society. They also are more respectable from his standpoint, able and willing to defend themselves and taking no shit from anybody. Plus I bet you he's a sucker for soft and fluffy textures. They're a luxury he doesn't often get to afford.
Guts doesn't really have a favorite food in most circumstances - but if there's fish to be had, he will gorge himself on it, and nobody is getting in his way. Fish, especially freshwater fish, would likely have been something he ate very rarely prior to the world falling apart; rivers and streams were owned by nobility, and they also owned the fish in them, so trout, greyling and pike were objectively rich people food. Same goes for Venison, which was also rich man's game. Ocean going creatures were usually fair game, but things like Salmon, sharks, and crabs were reserved by those who could afford them. Though I highly doubt Guts would think twice about poaching, especially for fish, provided he was confident about not getting caught.
Guts can be quite shy, in the right circumstances. If he is expected to be naked around strangers (such as a public bath), or to talk to people who are way too interested in him, or be around anyone whose judgement of him matters, he can be painfully shy. Unfortunately, shy and bashful are not the same thing, and his response to that anxiety is the same as if the people around him were hostile - the effect of course being that they do become hostile or wary.
Contrary to the above, however, I feel that at his core, Guts is a Runner, not a fighter- at least when it comes to things he doesnt know how to handle, like emotional conflict. You see him do this mentally with Casca when she confronts him about Griffith - he doesn't physically run away, but the disassociation is kicking in and he reverts to child-like defenses/excuses to try and avoid being in trouble. In other circumstances, I could easily see him choosing to just wash his hands of a difficult situation and walk or run away from it rather than deal - I mean, he basically does this all the time after the eclipse, but even before then - he doesn't even try to reconcile with Griffith, because it was easier to just assume he was right than to confront the man about his feelings.
With that said: Guts well and truly is not a very sympathetic, or even empathetic, person. He is self interested to a degree Griffith only wishes he could be; if it's not in the best interest of himself and his own, then you'd better have a good reason to bug him with it. That isn't to say he can't be compassionate, or go out of his way to help people sometimes, but usually if he does its because he stands to gain something or quiet a discomfort which often has nothing to do with how the other person is feeling and everything to do with himself. He is that way even in the GA, though it becomes much more punctuated post eclipse.
However, he can be quite tender and loving when the person in question is someone he really cares about. He is the guy who would move heaven and earth for someone who meant the world to him, and canon rather proves that. However, being emotionally stunted and socially awkward does mean that even under better skies (AU) he would have difficulty expressing his feelings in appropriate ways.
Speaking of which, there are two possible reasons for that stuntedness - his upbringing is kind of undeniable, but personally I like the idea of him being a high functioning autistic person. He's odd, awkward, and hyper fixated enough. But that's just me. :)
Guts is quite smart, actually - he has a good head for logic and notices patterns in familiar mediums (fighting) quite easily. He doesn't really fit the mold of "ultra intuitive fighter" to me, which says something to his wit. That said, he definitely is more of a numbers guy than a words guy. Math would probably be pretty easy for him, and though his job as a merc miiiight possibly necessitate him knowing several languages, I doubt he could speak most of them fluently. Though I do like to imagine that he grasps the concept of translation better than most people - he isn't remotely attached to his native tongue or peoples, really, since he doesnt entirely possess the latter and the former might not even be a single language, given that he grew up with mercs from all over. For all I know, he may not speak any language completely fluently, just borrowing bits and pieces here and there from everywhere in a bid to be understood. Which, ironically, would make him popular for sorting out civilian conflict since he might recognise something they said.
On that note - Guts is a raider and more to the point of this one, a raiders captain; I won’t go into too much detail about that now, since I’ve got another post in the works explaining that, but to cap: Raiders were not usually good people. Raiding parties were effectively professional terrorists whose job was to use intimidation to pillage and loot, and that, unfortunately, tended to include “lustful spoils”. Now, Guts, having the history he does, probably isn’t too fond of the idea that his men were doing those kinds of things, and if he caught them at it a part of me feels like he might intervene, if the situation seemed intense enough. However, I do not actually believe he would order his men not to do that, and would largely look the other way so long as it wasn’t “in his face” so to speak. This is because he lives in a world where he’s been conditioned exactly like them, if not more so having been raised by mercs, and though he might never personally engage in such activities, the idea of “right of conquest” is still very much alive in his head. Guts lives in a very medieval inspired world, and it was just understood for much of the time and even before that when men came knocking on your door to steal your stuff, they might take a piece of action for themselves “by rights”. What’s more, post eclipse Guts is quite aversive to helping people being assaulted unless they’re, like, actively disturbing his sleep. So the idea of him getting pissed off and fight-or-flighty if he’s near enough to hear or witness the act in the GA? Yeah, I can definitely see that. But going out of his way to be a hero and intervene? There’d have to be some extenuating circumstances for that one. Personal investment in the person counts; for instance if it were Casca being attacked, or heaven forbid even one of his own men, I think he would go off the rails over that. But if it was just some stranger? Eh, probably not.
That’s what I got for now folks. Feel free to comment, disagree, or not, etc. but please keep it civil in the notes, or I’ll turn off comments entirely. This is an opinion piece/ study and is meant to be fun…ish. Thank you for your cooperation.

2023 writing list
Not exactly a New Years resolution, as those don't often pan out, but more of a personal checklist. Please feel free to stroke my ego by asking me about any of these. If I remember I'll update with links as I finish.
I did not expect to start writing again in 2022, and the fact that I did is completely because of Sandman and the amazing tumblr fandom for it. So. Things I would like to write/finish in 2023:
1.) Black Unicorn AU: it has languished while I put off rereading the source material and write other things. I know HOW it ends but I don't like the ending scene I've written and until I do it won't click. But no one else is going to write this one so we'll keep working on it.
2.) He Would Not Say That: which has expanded to the point where I'm overwhelmed by it and overthinking the morality of fucking your boyfriend's dream subjects, which is a buzzkill because it was supposed to be very un serious sex comedy. Hob would give Chidi Anagonye a massive stomach ache if I could justify the crossover.
3.) Crack one-shot: Come Live With Me and Be My Cat - a spin-off of love to Avelera’s amazing fic and inspired by that great picture that @twottie-m8 did of Hob throwing Cat!Dream at the Corinthian
4.) Some kind of SandOmens side piece PROBABLY attached to Least of These so we can have a good fun "you built a what to whom" reaction from Aziraphale and Crowley.
4a.) The Next Level - wrote this instead, a very soft fluffy little piece where Dream asks Aziraphale and Crowley for advice on being the type of friends who hold hands. We'll see if that scratched my itch to write SandOmens.
5) Actually, let’s throw The Least of These on this list. Didn’t include it before because I started it in Nov/Dec, but it was SUPPOSED to be a soft smutty 5k and now it is 25k and is more plot than smut, and has taken up more of my time than I anticipated
6) As of yet untitled longfic #1: if published will be two separate works, part one a setup of "Dream shows up every couple of years for sex, but in a different disguise every time because he thinks he's smart" and part two is your standard fishbowl rescue/let's rewrite season 1, because we like them. I want this to be better than I feel I'm capable of writing but I keep plonking away at it, and it's 16k words already, which is too much for me to give up on.
7) A Secret Third Thing: (not actual title) where I come to terms with the fact that in killing off Morpheus by having him put half his soul in the Corinthian I accidentally made an OC that I'm kind of interested in.
8) Honeymoon piece: I don't want to write the wedding, that sounds exhausting, but Hob wants to honeymoon somewhere he hasn't been where they can just be themselves, and Dream takes him to a little side project he, Delirium and Destruction started a few centuries back: a friendly desert community where the sun is hot, the moon is beautiful, and mysterious lights pass overhead while everyone pretends to sleep. The King of Nightmares is a minor celebrity in Nightvale, and he gets to show off his new husband. Silly.
8a) I did, in the end, write a wedding, if a rather hasty one, so we have: Then maybe, maybe, maybe you'd stay which was written almost entirely in 72 hours in a tiny hotel room in a foreign country 6000 miles from home, after my husband's passport got stolen 15 hours before we were supposed to fly home, thus turning the end of our dream vacation into nearly a literal nightmare. Apparently I stress write. You learn things when you travel.
9) The Financial Crimes of Hob Gadling, only of I can think of a way to do it that shows off my special interest without publishing a "How to crime" guide.
10) Longfic #2, working title "All the Things That Lie Undone" - loosely based off the plot of a favorite out of print smutty historical romance novel. Basic plotline is worked out, but so far all that's written so far is the first two chapters and one sex scene.
11) Longfic #3 which has eclipsed all desire to work on Longfic #2, which will hopefully be my Centennial Husbands Big Bang entry.
12) Anything I want, there are no rules, I have permission to have fun and make myself feel happy.

if you're still doing the flower asks thing, begonia, dahlia, and lily? :o
Begonia: Which book cover is your favorite?
cheating a little lol
for owen richardson's cover i think the place of no stars cover has excellent vibes, really wish they would ditch the floating cat heads that take up almost the entire thing though
Tumblr media
wayne mcloughlin fave has to be moonrise, it always stands out so nicely to the others
Tumblr media
aannnnndd fave non-north american one, i've got to go with the polish covers, they always have SO much character to them, i'm super soft for eclipse with all the symbolism
Tumblr media
Dahlia: Has any death scene actually made you cry? What was it?
so i got bluestar's prophecy as a gift from my mom, it was one of the few books that i didn't save up to buy on my own, and so obviously, as a little kid, this was super exciting and meaningful to me since it felt like my mom had made such an effort to make sure she got a book that a) wasn't part of a mainline arc and b) i didn't own
so when moonflower died, i bawled my little kid eyes out. it was absolutely because of the sentimental value attached to the overall book btw, not a statement on how good the death was lol
uhhh havent ever cried at one since? yellowfang definitely got me misty eyed but that's about it
Lily: If your five favorite characters were foods, what would they be?
fucked up question let's go
hollyleaf would be a beet salad, firestar would be tomato soup, dovewing would be a bao bun
um that's my trifecta of kitties but for others i enjoy i think crookedstar would be french toast, leafpool would be a brioche bun, and shadowsight would be a mushroom-potato soup

🌶🟣: raising my own sassy eyebrow at him I couldn't help the smile, Rascal he is. Wonder if he's going to use it as bait later.. not interrupting him I started to follow as I remember hearing about lunar while I was in his stomach. "I'll have to be sure to thank him" I'll take care of the sweater until then.
Wait he knitts!! I couldn't help the happy swing of my tail or the ruffle of my feathers not that they actually ruffled being weighed down with his mix drink of saliva. I personally can't get the hang of knitting it hurts my wrist more then crocheting does. But God knows the mountain of yarn I own.
Wait focus he's talking! The hallway did looked up kept which with everyone here I didn't expect anything less, they really take good care of this sections. "Noted" I will have to take my cloths there after my clean up.
Rolling my eyes at the employee part. Lucky bastards get a good set up and leave cuz there chicken? "They sound like scarty cats" i wanted to say the valugar word version but im not keen on being that curd to a place so welcoming.
oh wait eclipses, and lunar stay here too. I knew mango did, that's really cool! I mean I knew they had to stay somewhere but it's nice they get there own place, fazz Corp or what ever I know isn't the nicest. Hold so where does glitch live? In the Arcade sections?
Before I could ask he left, I'll just ask when he gets back. "Alright glitchy"
Turning back to the apartment I mentally grumbled how it was much nicer then my own. And the stupid butt heads didn't even have to worry about driving like come on! Ide snoop more in the room later but for now I need to wash.
Granted it was nice to smell like one of my favorite fruits. I never liked pina coladas fully, I mean I drank em for sure. And I love the fruit separately, coconuts were my favorite! But never like the drink as much as you think a coconut fan should. Though it was still a wonderful scent.
Carefully gathering the uniform I went into the bathroom to take care of myself. Afterwords after carefully washing my new necklace and drying it with a soft washcloth I noted how I still smelt like glitch..damn did they make the scent strong. Like dude I've made cold press soaps before and this is quality stuff if it sticks like this. Color me impress.
Fixing myself up I did find styling gel, I didn't dare touch the tooth brush I saw. My wings no longer there having dispelled them. Out in the dorm I saw a full length mirror next to the closet. "Heh people would think I actually work here" my expression soften as I took in my attire.. I did miss working with children.
I'm forgetting something.. right right cloths. Humming softly to myself a note slipping out every so often. It was a soft soothing, melody. I followed where glitch had said, glad it was just down the hall cuz at times my direction sense is horrid. Doing the adjustments for a small load I started it all up.
My arms adjusted a bit still not used to sharing my appearance, it was nice..this all been just really, really nice.
*there are footsteps with jingling bells that stop behind you,Eclipse and Glitch don't wear bell and the shadow that's cast isn't tall enough to be Sun or Moon, so that just leaves-*
🔵🌕⚪:Hello! *He's holding a folded rainbow colored sweater in his arms while smiling at you cheerfully* Glitchy told me you needed to borrow one of my sweaters so I chose one of my favorites.
He got into a fight with the mean suited people so I brought one for you instead of him while they busy were fighting about....*he pauses, looking a little confused*
well I don't really know what they were fighting about just that they were really angry at each other. *He goes back to smiling, rocking back and forth on his heels, waiting for you to take the sweater*
*seems you may need to wait a bit longer to ask Glitch those questions...or you could ask Lunar*
