By The River
I was rewatching Lord of the Rings, and oof. I now remember why I swooned over Orlando Bloom so much as a teenager...
Pairing: Legolas x Reader
Word Count: 1,334
Rating: T (angst)
Chapter: 1/1
Summary: You've grown quite fond of Legolas, but when he disappears without so much as a word, your world is turned upside down.
You walk slowly towards the river Bruinen, occasionally glancing up at the clear night sky. A handful of trees litter the path of the river, marking where the beauty of Rivendell merges with the beauty of the forest. You take in a deep breath as you approach a particular beech tree, one that was slowly becoming your favourite.
You smile to yourself as you hear the feet landing behind you, slowing for just a moment as you see the familiar blond elf falling into step alongside you.
“It’s a beautiful night.” Legolas breaks the silence.
You merely hum in agreement, glancing at him with a soft smile, one that he returns.
You couldn’t quite remember how long you two had shared this routine, but he was always there, every night, ready to join you in your walks along the edge of the forest. Most nights you spoke, joking and laughing, but some nights, you enjoyed the simple silence, interrupted only by animals in the distance or the whistling of the wind. Truth be told (but never to Legolas himself) he was the reason you enjoyed your walk so much.
You eventually find yourself paused at the riverbank, looking down at the moonlight reflecting along the rippling waters. A breeze whips around you and you shiver, exhaling softly as you wrap your arms around yourself. You feel a warm presence behind you as Legolas moves to wrap his cloak around your shoulders, his hands resting on your upper arms. Without thought, you lean back into his touch, letting his warmth wash over you.
“Beautiful.” He murmurs.
You tilt your head to glance back at him, finding him gazing down at you, blue eyes sparkling in the moonlight. His hand comes up slowly, resting along the hollow of your throat, his thumb and forefinger pressing up against your jaw, lifting your face to meet his. He dips his head down, tentatively brushing his lips over yours before pulling back and letting his hand return to its place on your arm. Your lips part slightly, but no words come, so you give him a soft smile instead, letting your head fall back to rest against his shoulder as your gaze returns to the waters of the river Bruinen.
~~~~~~~~
The next day, you find yourself busy, running small errands for the council. But Legolas remains in the back of your mind, his soft kiss replaying over and over. Once night falls, you grab your cloak and slip out for your nightly walk. You quickly make your way to the beech tree, pausing for a moment. When all you hear is the rustling of the water and chirping of birds, you glance around.
“Legolas?” You call out, looking up at the branches.
Your heart begins to race as your elven senses pick up no sign of him.
“Legolas?” You call out again, silently hoping that he had somehow lost track of time.
No answer comes and you feel your breath run short, catching in your throat as your pulse pounds in your ears. You force down a deep breath before turning to run back into the walls of the city. You make your way to the council room, steadying yourself before approaching Elrond, who greets you with a nod of his head before returning to the map he was studying.
“Lord Elrond,” you begin, bowing your head slightly, “have you seen Legolas?”
“He is gone,” the elf responds, “A messenger came from Mirkwood this morning, and he left.”
You feel your heart sink to your stomach as tears prick the corners of your eyes. Your jaw drops slightly as you turn away from Elrond, clenching your fists by your sides.
“This troubles you?”
“I was just-” You pause, unsure of how to explain yourself to the high elf. “I did not know he was leaving.”
“Do not worry for him,” Elrond says, turning to look at you fully, “he will return in time.”
~~~~~~~~
You try to follow Elrond’s advice, busying yourself with whatever you can find and forcing yourself to focus on anything but the thoughts of Legolas. But days soon turn into weeks, then into months. And the Sindar elf does not return. You eat out of habit, on the days that you remember, and hardly ever venture out of the walls of Rivendell. Some days your heart aches as it did when Legolas first left, other days it feels cold and numb.
One day, Elrond, who had kept a distant eye on you as you grieved, approaches you.
“You should take a walk,” he says softly, “the air would do you good, as would the sun.”
“The river reminds me of him,” you admit.
“An unpleasant memory?”
“No, not at all. I just…I miss him.”
You stare at Elrond with glassy eyes, tears threatening to fall. He lets out a small sigh as he places his hand on your shoulder.
“Then go to the river, sit with the memories.”
Elrond gives your shoulder a soft squeeze before turning to walk away. You watch him disappear around the corner before turning your attention to the waterfalls scattered around the city, listening to the sounds of rushing water. You slowly walk through the city, heading towards the waters of the river.
You eventually approach your tree, reaching out to run a hand along the bark as you look down at the flowing water. In the light of the noonday sun, the colour almost matches Legolas’ eyes. A tear slides down your cheek as you turn to lean against the beech, sliding down to the ground and bringing your knees to your chest. Your eyes close as you lean your head back against the tree, losing yourself and letting time fly by.
You hear footsteps in the soft grass and you leap to your feet, turning to face the approaching figure. The sun glints off golden hair and your jaw drops momentarily before you close your eyes, deciding that your eyes are playing a cruel trick.
“No.” You say softly.
You slowly open your eyes, taking in the figure that now stands before you. Piercing eyes stare at you as golden locks flutter in the soft breeze. Legolas…
“I thought you’d left,” you murmur, “never to return.”
“You truly think I would do that?” Legolas tilts his head slightly, striding forward to stand in front of you.
“I didn’t know what to think,” you reply slowly, “you were just…gone. You never even said goodbye.”
“I tried to find you,” the blond elf murmurs, “but I couldn’t. And it was urgent that I return to Mirkwood.”
You take a step back and swallow as you stare at the river again, fingertips digging into the bark of the tree as it presses into your back. Finally bringing your gaze up to meet his, you see pale blue filled with concern and… was that hurt?
“I would never abandon you.”
Legolas’ voice comes out as little more than a whisper as he moves in closer, bringing up a hand to caress the line of your jaw, catching a fresh tear with his thumb. You lean into his touch, closing your eyes as you feel his free hand resting ever-so-lightly on your hip.
“ Melethril…”
Your eyes flutter open as you feel Legolas’ warm breath dancing across your lips, his own within inches. Your hands find purchase on his cloak as his body envelopes yours, your lips finally meeting in a soft kiss. You lean into him as his grip tightens on you, holding you close as your lips mold together. Your lungs begin to ache, but your desire for Legolas pushes all other thoughts back as you cling to him.
Legolas finally breaks the kiss, resting his forehead against yours as you both take in a breath. He tilts his head back to look into your eyes, the intensity of his gaze filling you with warmth. He speaks in a low tone, slowly and assuredly.
“I will always come back to you…”

An Angsty/comfort Lindir Imagine.... is that something you could do for me?☺🤗🥺🥺🥺🙏🙏🙏🙏
I'll love you forever and ever!!!!!!!!!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💜
I can give it a good go 😝
Lindir imagine - “Purple dress” Fluff content
Tumblr media
Warnings: Slight angst, feeling tired, fluff mostly, very mild! Sexual references, but it is mostly a chaotic imagine on sweet Lindir <3
Lindir (LOTR/Hobbit) x fem! reader
I wandered through Rivendell smiling at the stunning setting surrounding me. I felt at ease and peaceful until I heard whispers from a few of the elves around me. For me, I was only a Human-Dwarf girl. Which brought upon a few harsh comments from the elves who giggled and pointed at me. It put me in a terrible mood within seconds as I hurried past them and rushing around a corner and into something.
It was a chest. The chest of Aragorn the strider. He was a handsome man but I was not in the mood for him to look down at me currently, so tried to walk around him but he grabbed onto my wrist and pulled me back, so his face was inches from mine. All I could do was gulp and shake my head.
“Aragorn please not now,” I sighed
“You don’t even know what I was going to say.. come on..” he chuckled and moved hair from my face
“Please,” I begged him wanting to run off
“Oh come on let me talk-“ he started.
He was cut off before he could even finish as I felt a large, long arm wrap around my waist and pull me against them. Feeling a tall man’s body pressed to my back.
My stomach filled with butterflies as I slowly turned my head to see who it was. It was Lindir. Who was glaring at Aragorn, then looking down at me with a soft stare. His smile fading as he looked back at Aragorn.
“She needs time to relax first Aragorn. She is clearly upset and exhausted. You know Rivendell and she does not, so just let her go by at her own pace.” He spoke up and gently guided me away.
We walked side by side up many stairs, left, right around many corners which easily lost me but I had no care as I felt his hand on my lower back as he showed me around to the room I was going to stay in while here in Rivendell. He smiled at me before walking inside with me. He wandered over to the balcony and let out a deep breath.
“You know. You’re one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen.” He chuckled making me blush.
I couldn’t even move from my spot beside the bed in the centre of the room against the back wall. He was way too perfect to be complementing me so I felt speechless.
He glanced at me and showed a more cheeky smile compared to his usual mature facial expression. He clearly noticed how flustered I was by his words making me heat up and feel blush creep on my cheeks.
“Thank you for before. I do feel quite exhausted from the long trip here. I have barely any time to myself being surrounded by men all day long” I sighed
“You don’t need to thank me. I seen how uncomfortable you felt and had to help.” He nodded.
I watched him as he walked over to the chair in the corner of the room and grabbed a beautiful, purple dress, similar colour to his own robe. He motioned for me to follow him.
We wandered passed a few rooms and into a long corridor, into a room with a large bath. It was filled with warm water and bubbles that smelt magnificent.
“I had this made for you. It can help with your tense muscles” he smiled and placed the dress down on another chair in the room
“Lindir this is so much, I couldn’t possibly bathe in that, you have done so much already” I sighed and shook my head
“I insist. I made the bath for you princess. So please enjoy it” he chuckled moving some of my hair from my face.
He walked past me and closed the two large doors, leaving me alone with the gorgeous smell of those bubbles. I couldn’t decline such an offer, who knows when I’ll be able to clean myself like this again.
My skin felt brilliant as it hit the hot water, my tense muscles relaxing as I laid inside the large tub, letting out a soft moan from enjoyment, not wanting to move. But I washed my entire body, feeling perfectly clean and at ease.
Drying myself off and holding up the dress wandering how much it cost him. Feeling bad for him even thinking about me.
It fit my body figure perfectly and made me smile. I smelt amazing and looked stunning. Quickly opening the doors and rushing around to find Lindir who was speaking with Lord Elrond about things.
Elrond noticed me first and smiled, but I wasn’t interested in him at the current moment and hugged Lindir.
“Thank you. For everything” I smiled and then realised what I was doing, hugging him in front of Lord Elrond himself, shyly standing back
“Lindir picked the dress out himself, I’m glad you like it” Elrond grinned and then wandered off to speak with Gandalf.
Lindir seemed to watch as Elrond disappeared and then looked down at me, a smile appearing on his face once again. His eyes clearly gazed up and down my body.
“It suits you and brings out your eyes.” He chuckled making me flustered again.
I gently hit his arm and then gazed at his pink lips, gulping as ideas flooded my mind. His eyes still locked on me. Aragorn coming into my sight once more making me clench my fists, he punched Lindir in a playful way and smirked at me.
“You look good” he snarled
“Oh.. thank you” I shyly smiled
“I put it on her” Lindir spat out with a smirk as Aragorn turned to him with shocked expression
“Y-You.. well then! That explains why you stole her from my conversation before. I’ll let you two be” he raised his arms in a funny motion and wandered off.
I was overheated from embarrassment and glared at him as I crossed my arms. He just smiled and took my hand taking me on a walk down to the water fountain.
“I only wanted him to let you be, so you can think to yourself. Sorry if it came off wrong” he apologised
“No. It’s quite alright. I wouldn’t have mind if you really did put it on me.” I chuckled with a small grin.
He looked at me with a smirk, raising his brow and nodding, leaning down and touching the water. Splashing some towards me making me shake my head and gasp at how cold it was on my body.
“Lindir! I just cleaned myself and changed!” I laughed
“Good. You can change again with my help” he laughed in return and splashed me again.
I put my feet in the water and splashed him back with a huge wave of water. Until we were both completely soaked and in a mess, just giggling and looking at the other elves walking by with judging manners.

Haunted
Tumblr media
Pairing = Glorfindel x Reader
Genre = Teen and up
General ratings = a twinge of angst, fluff, smut implied (?)
Content warnings = smut implied
Word count = 1,4k
Notes = ……hi 🫣 I haven’t posted in a month 🙃 Life has been really busy and I haven’t really had the time (nor the motivation, truthfully) to write. I had a more regular schedule before, but I think for now it will stay… ‘irregular’. I have no idea when or what I will post next. Hope you can understand!
Tumblr media
Glorfindel was being haunted. Not by ghosts- no. By the memories of his past life. Of his mistakes. Of his friends. Of their deaths. Of his death. The searing pain of his scalp as he was tugged down and down and down by the Balrog. Of the heat he felt as he fought for his life, for the lives of Idril and Tuor and Eärendil and everyone. His mind replayed those moments over and over, never leaving him a second of peace.
The slight smile of Ecthelion, Rog’s boisterous laugh, Turgon’s exasperation with them, Elgalmoth’s mischievous eyes as he gossiped, Penlod’s hums as he pretended he was listening, Galdor’s excited chatter about the trees and plants he saw, Duilin’s whistles as he walked, Tuor’s love-struck expression as his eyes followed Idril and Maeglin’s shy smile when someone asked him about his work…
Oh, Maeglin… Glorfindel had hated him, for a time. Hated him for giving Gondolin away to Morgoth, giving away their lives.. But that time had passed. In the halls of Námo, Glorfindel had had plenty of time to think before he was reborn. And think he did : about how Maeglin had lost his mother and father. About how his only parental figure was Turgon, who was too busy to really spend time with his nephew. About how he mistook his love for Idril as romantic and not platonic, and how that strained his friendship with her and Tuor. About how rumors spread that Maeglin was a vile being. About how none of them did anything to defend him. About how lonely Maeglin must have been.. About what impossible horrors he felt at the hands of Morgoth and Sauron. About how they never saw how broken Maeglin had returned. About how he didn’t care if he died anymore.
Yes, Glorfindel had thought, Maeglin had done something wrong. And he forgave Maeglin for what he had done, because Maeglin had been a child. A child who needed to be guided and shown love, but no one had stepped up to take up the role.
He thought about you. About your smile, your eyes, your nose. About the way you moved, how you talked and your passions. And he ached. Because he didn’t know what happened to you. He didn’t know if you had died, if you had suffered or if you were still alive. If you had moved on from him.. And that haunted him. His every waking thought, his every dream and nightmare.
Sometimes, Glorfindel dreamed of you. He dreamed that you were laying in his bed, in Gondolin, smiling at him. That you carded your fingers through his hair and told him that you loved him. And when he woke up, his heart ached and he did not know whether to thank or curse Irmo.
Glorfindel had a mission. He was going back to Arda Marred. And he found himself dreading going back. Dreading seeing how everything had changed and how the language had evolved. Dreading how no one he knew would be there. How he would be alone. At least in Valinor, he saw his mother and father. He found himself crying when he realized he did not remember what being embraced by his parents felt like. They took care of him and he couldn’t be more grateful to have them.
When Glorfindel departed, he stood looking at Valinor until it had been long since out of view. He stood still, wondering if he was dreaming. He thought, how ironic, for he was going back. Not anyone else. Him. Laurëfindelë Glorfindel, an emissary of the Valar, granted powers nearly as strong as that of the Maiar. And he didn’t want to go back. Nienna wept for him, for his sacrifice, for his fear and for his love. He found himself appreciating her understanding. She visited him, before he departed. He listened to her words, without understanding : “Dear Child, your heart is being haunted. Your mind is playing tricks on you, and your heart is rendered blind by your pain. But your gut, your gut is still there and strong. Follow it, follow what it tells you. But do not silence your heart and mind for it, listen to them. Listen, but do not follow.”
~~~
When Glorfindel arrived in Middle Earth, he did not know where to begin. He was tired, but could not sleep. He thought about you. About your lips on his, about your laugh, about your hands in his, about the ring he had passed on your finger. He thought and thought and thought. And his heart ached. He walked on paths and in forests, stopping to wash himself in rivers. And he despaired.
It was later that he found Lindon. Days later. Or weeks, he did not know. He met Elrond, someone who would confuse and amuse him for the rest of their lives. Part man, part elf, part maia. He wore the insignias of Fingolfin and Fëanor with pride, daring anyone to confront him about it. He was a gentle soul with a heart of gold and the patience of the wise. He was as kind as summer and Glorfindel found himself basking in his presence, like a flower who had grown up in shadow feeling the sun on itself for the first time.
Círdan was surprisingly mischievous. Subtle jokes, sarcasm and deadpan looks were all things he threw at others, uncaring if they understood or not. He was calm, but could easily terrorize anyone with his anger, like the sea. Board games were his favorite and Glorfindel spent time playing with him, thinking of strategies to beat the older elf.
Gil-Galad was as confusing as he was funny. His father was unknown and he liked to joke around about it. Glorfindel spent time with him when they could, talking about everything and nothing. When Gil-Galad felt Glorfindel starting to lose himself in memories, he would randomly tell a stupid joke. They made Glorfindel laugh each time.
Celebrimbor had been a bit weary at first. Glorfindel almost laughed at the memory of a small Curufinwë Tyelpërinquar staring at him with the exact same look. It wasn’t long until they became great friends. Celebrimbor understood : he, too, was haunted by his past actions and words. Maybe for different reasons than Glorfindel, but the important thing was that he related to how Glorfindel felt. Having his feelings validated was something that alleviated the pain in Glorfindel’s heart.
~~~
Glorfindel walked around Lindon aimlessly and leisurely, taking his time to look around. You haunted him. Everything he saw reminded him of you. From pretty rocks you would have collected, passing by a stand selling your favorite fruit, to someone wearing clothes the exact color of your eyes. His mind played tricks on him, making him imagine hearing your laugh or seeing your beautiful hair swaying in the wind.
He stopped walking at a bookstore, a feeling bubbling up inside him. He looked at the door, curious. His gut screamed at him to enter that store, for some reason. His mind dismissed the feeling, but his heart held hope. They warred against each other. And then, Glorfindel was reminded of Nienna’s words to him. And he went inside the store.
Inside the store, which was cozy and homey, he felt pulled towards a particular bookshelf. His breath hitched as his mind reeled to a stop, his heart pumping wildly. There you stood, browsing the shelf while smiling. Feeling observed, you turned your head, your eyes widening as you saw Glorfindel, your husband, your soulmate, standing there. Glorfindel was frozen, his mind scrambling and heart singing with joy. You were the one to make the first move, throwing yourself in his arms, ecstatic. Glorfindel hugged you back, a sense of wholeness overtaking his mind and body as he kissed you long and passionately.
The two of you spent hours upon hours talking, laughing, crying and hugging. This long-awaited reunion was a balm on Glorfindel’s bruised and battered heart. That night, under the stars, in a magnificent glade full of flowers, you rekindled your fëas. Glorfindel made love to you slowly and passionately, kissing every piece of skin revealed as he undressed you, worshiping your body with his hands and mouth. That night, in your arms, Glorfindel had no nightmares. He woke up to your sweet voice and felt free. Free of the thing that haunted him. And he smiled.

A Contemplation Upon Flowers
Elrond x reader
Tumblr media
Request: Hey I saw you have IMLADRIS on your masterlist but not on your character list, are you willing to write for Elrond? If so, can I get a Elrond x reader - where reader is conflicted about loving him and elrond is trying to convince reader that they're meant to be it can be a a mix of angst and fluff. If you don't write for Elrond can you do this for Maedhros or Feanor? Thank you - anon
A/N: This was a very interesting style of writing I chose for this request. Hope it meets your requirements!!
Word Count: 1.1k
Warnings: contemplating life, mortality and death, grief, implications of reader being depressed and confused, internal struggle with finding love, mentions of negligence, happy-ending
Synopsis: Your love for the elven Lord was unconditional, but when mortality was fickle, would you accept the returned love - even if it meant causing heartbreak?
Tumblr media
Sitting in the open field behind your cottage, you watched as the rolls of clouds wavered across the skies. Their greys and puffs of white dancing along the horizon and stretching on forever. The shifts of the wind from cold to warm then back to cold signalled the oncoming rain, and yet, you made no motion to remove yourself. The flowers danced in an ocean of waves, their crests and troughs overlapping to create swirls of endless kaleidoscopic patterns. Petals and leaves twisted in the air, caught in a synchronous dance until they fell into the stream.
Sigh
Like all good things, there was always an end. The cool air would become cold. The white and grey clouds would turn black. The winds would no longer strike you softly. And the flowers…the flowers would all die. Did every creation know that their life would soon end – nothing was forever? Did every animal understand this? How, and why couldn’t you?
Sigh
Casting a gloomy look to the heavens, you heaved one last time before dusting your pants off and raising yourself off the ground. Two steps and your patience wore off – Elrond. Clad in blues and greys, wearing a gentle smile upon his face and understanding in his eyes. He knew how you felt, the only reason you ever frequent this spot – to contemplate your fragile life. Alone and without him, your ever-so-graceful thoughts swamped your tender mind. But now he was here – here to ease your pain and self-doubt – to reassure your thoughts that he was not giving up.
Never giving you up.
“Meleth-nin, do you still self-doubt?” His stance was the same. His voice was no more than a whisper and yet, it still reached your mortal hearing. His eyes held sorrow – was it sorrow for his hurt or yours? He shouldn’t be hurting over you, there were others to be sorrowful over. You would soon leave this world and all who knew you would follow. Why should an otherworldly creature sympathize and feel hurt over your passing?
I can love you, but you cannot. I will leave this world and bring you pain. You’ve already enough, it would be selfish and inconsiderate of me to bring more. Just let me love you from afar.
One month passed and then two. Two turned into five and soon it manifested into a year. Did you heed your own words…no? You wished to love from afar but wanted to be close, and still, he did not prevent. Ironic and stupid of you, but ever-so young and innocent. The taste of love, a burning fire that consumed all that left happiness or despair. A fire that brought its own warmth – a warmth that sometimes burnt and sometimes gave comfort. The hands that outstretched to pull you into an unknown embrace – an embrace you’ve longed for – now stood before you openly. You wanted love, you’ve never had it, and he gave it freely.
Why couldn’t you accept that this was how life chose your path?
“Because faith is cruel and twisted at times.” Always reading the mind. He now stood before you. When did he move? Tender hands held yours and you felt life breathing into you again, spreading through all corners of your body. Was his touch always mellow…and alleviating?
Ever so persistent like the gardener who cares for their flowers and does all that they could until their last and final breath. Picking the best and cherishing them, nurturing the weak and grooming them to be the most beautiful of them all. In the end, they all die – just like you. So where did you fall – the best picked or the weak?
“You’re the best-picked flower of them all. I always pick the best and most beautiful of them all.” A hand rose to touch your cheek, brushing his knuckles against your skin and travelling them to cup your face. He tilted your head to meet his silent gaze.
“I know it is difficult to understand, but I do. I understand, and I am willing to bare the pain. You are happy with me, are you not?” he paused to let the question hang in the open. You couldn’t find your voice to respond, so you nodded, “And I am happy with you, most elated. So, let us be my dear, please.”
“I want to Elrond, but – but I cannot grasp that one day I shall wither and die. I will leave you alone and hurting. Why can’t I grasp this?”
And so, the winds changed, their rate picked up and violently blew their coldness onto you. Shivering, you blanketed your arms around your shoulders for warmth and allowed the goosebumps to traverse your body. Elrond watched and mused. Thoughts running around his head, he felt as though he was tumbling down the rabbit hole. No answer he could give would provide consolation – your mind was already made up.
“You compare me to a flower, and yet, a flower understands that it has a time to live and die. Mortality is fickle, you never know when you can die.”
“And so is immortality. We may live forever, but we never know when we can die.”
You scoffed at his remark. Always quick-witted with a response and smart with words. You would have never expected him to be so open and honest about immortality. A treasure that the elves valued and boasted merrily to many faces. To live forever and to never be ill or to never die of old age…a gift in your eyes. Maybe the truth was that you feared death, you feared not lingering in this world. Leaving behind people who loved you and in return, you provided grief.
You’ve felt it most of your life, to reciprocate was evil. Solitude was all you’ve ever known and became the best companion – maybe you’d meet it on the other side.
“Why must you be so stubborn? You do enjoy pain don’t you?”
You heard and felt his smile as it stretched across his face before he responded, “What is grief, if not love persevering?”
Stretching his palm out, you stared at it perplexed, there was a different air to this action. It didn’t terrify nor agitate you, instead, it was welcoming. A silent ‘give yourself a chance with me, I will never leave you alone’.
“Until the very end then…”

Tumblr media
REQUESTS OPEN!
(Main Masterlist)
I loved writing this. Elrond is one of my favourite characters from the Rings of Power! I hope you enjoy this angsty/fluff/comfort fic.
Word Count: 3,402
Warnings: Mentions of characters’ deaths, angst, Elrond and Durin's friendship, the amazing Disa, etc.
*Afrell means friend in dwarvish (At least that is what google said)
_____________________________________________________________
Fireworks flashed across the sky brightening the darkest corners of the great forest of Lindon. The shadows of the trees towering over all momentarily disappeared, illuminating Elrond’s view. Standing before the elven man was a carved wooden statue of a woman. There was no doubt about the Elvish talent for art. Despite the stiff and hardened wooden medium of the Lindon trees, the elvish artists were able to capture the breath of life. Every detail from the way the woman’s long hair fell over her shoulder cascading down her back to the way her eyes crinkled when in a smile. It was as if she, herself, was standing in front of him now, which made it even harder for Elrond to keep from crying.
It had been ages since the last battle was fought in the war between good and evil, yet for an elf, it was a blink of an eye. One moment he remembered her standing by his side in the golden light of the sun. The shimmering leaves from the magnificent trees of Lindon fell down around her. Her hair danced in the wind as a breeze flew by. And in the next…she was gone. Middle earth seemed darker and more solemn without her radiant light by his side. They had all lost someone in the war. A war that only consumed until there would be nothing left. A war that had taken her.
Elrond’s eyes glistened as he remembered his last memory of her. She stood amongst the other soldiers. All were dressed in the finest of armour the forges of the elves could produce. Her armour was designed with the crest of her family. A tribute to those whom she and others had lost before. Elrond approached her one last time. Her unit had been tasked to march out to battle. In an effort to help support those fighting on the front. He could recognize the fear and uncertainty in her eye as she said goodbye, for what was the final time. He hugged her, longer than he should have for appearance’s sake. Elrond remembers he felt embarrassed about it. An elf who prided himself on his intelligence and his ability to put his mind before his heart, yet here he was holding her as if she was the only thing he had left. Tears fell down freely now. How foolish he was to think like that. Now she is gone. A figure to be remembered by a carving in wood. A face among a sea of thousands who lost their lives.
The crinkling of leaves caught Elrond’s attention as he quickly wiped his tears away, preparing the mask he always held nowadays.
A gentle voice spoke. “I remember when the first of these were carved.” It was Galadriel. He could never have mistaken her voice for anyone else.
His eyes, unable to hide their grief, peered at his friend. Her golden hair fell behind her as she made her way to him. Then she turned to look up at the figure before them, bowing her head in respect for the fallen. “The likeness of one fallen, preserved upon a living thing. I am sorry, my friend.”
She brought her delicate hand to his face, feeling the remnants of his tears. “We all lost so much to the war…to an evil that I fear still endures.”
“It is over. The evil is gone,” stated Elrond. He refused to believe otherwise. He refused to believe she died for no reason. That her life was taken in the name of an evil that still continues to breathe, while hers has been forever silenced.
“Not from here,” she whispered.
His eyes softened at the confession of his friend. “After all you have endured…It is only natural to feel conflicted.”
Galadriel scoffed, “Conflicted? I am grateful you have not known evil as I have. As she knew it.” Galadriel pointed towards the woman in the woods.
Elrond’s jaw clenched. “I have seen my share.”
“Evil does not sleep, Elrond. It waits.” Galadriel explained. “In our moment of complacency, it blinds us.”
Elrond turned towards Galadriel. “Let us say that this enemy is out there somewhere, lying in wait. Do you truly believe seeking him out will satisfy you? That one more orc upon the point of your blade will bring you peace. If you are wrong…” Elrond warned.
“I’m not wrong,” Galadriel seethed. Her eyes watering over as her darkest memories crept to the front.
“If you are wrong,” Elrond trembled. “Will you lead more Elves to die in far-off lands? Like you led her into battle that day?”
“She knew what she was getting herself into, Elrond.” Galadriel seethed.
The pain Elrond so desperately tried to hide, escaped. “To convince yourself you have done enough, how many more statues would you add to this path? How many more will you take away?! No one in history has ever refused the call. Do so now, it may never come again. You will linger here, an outcast, poisoned in dark whispers and dreams.”
“Do you think my fate would be better?” Galadriel scoffed. “Where everything mocks the cries of battle in my ears? Where tears of joy mimic the sobs of those who lost…lost everything? You would leave all the horrors of Middle-earth alive in me? To thrive in me? Undying, unchanging, unbreaking into the land of winterless spring?”
Elrond took in a shaking breath and placed his hands on Galadriel’s shoulders. “Only in the Blessed Realm can that which is broken in you be healed. Go there. Go, and I promise you... If a whisper of a rumour of the threat you perceive proves true, I will not rest until it is put right. You have fought long enough, Galadriel. Put up your sword.”
She leaned into his touch as tears fell from her closed eyes. “What am I to be?”
“What you have always been. My friend.”
_____________________________________________________________________________________
Gil Galad had assigned Elrond to work under the mentorship of the great Celebrimbor, the master smith and last in the line of the House of Feanor. Celebrimbor confided in Elrond about his plans for the future of the elves, but they lacked one thing. A workforce mighty enough to construct it fast enough and to the standard to which all elves held themselves–perfection.
Elrond knew of the expert craftsmanship that the noble race of the dwarves was known for. Their stubbornness and determination placed them high amongst the mighty races of middle earth.
“Have you considered seeking partners outside the confines of our own race?” He questioned Celebrimbor.
“The dwarves. An alliance with them would be the diplomatic achievement of the age.” Elrond stated. “Their prince, Durin, is an old and dear friend. Almost like a brother to me.”
Celebrimbor raised his brow in interest. “I've heard the Dwarves have greatly expanded their halls of late. They... They sculpt the rock with the respect of one who cares for an aged parent. I've long wanted to see their work. I had no idea you admired them so. I admire all who can see into the mystery of things, who can divine from the plainness of what is, the beauty of what could be... Might your friend be able to grant me access to their workshops?
Elrond chuckled, “Oh if I know Durin, he'll do far more than that. He'll welcome us with open arms, rams' horns blaring, tables filled with salted pork, and enough malt beer to fill the Anduin.”
It was decided. They would embark to the great dwarven halls in search of help from the mighty race. The two of them arrived at the entrance. Confidently, Elrond knocked on the door. A hole made a scraping noise as it slid open revealing a dwarven guard.
“What do you want?” The voice grumbled. It rang low and deep.
“It is Elrond of Lindon, accompanied by Celebrimbor, Lord of Eregion. We seek an audience with Prince Durin.”
 “No.” Replied the dwarf.
Elrond widens his eyes in astonishment. “My apologies. Inform Lord Durin that his friend, Elrond…”
The Dwarf interjected, “His judgment has already been rendered, Elf.”
Elrond’s jaw clenched as he thought of a way to see his old friend. A light grew in his eyes and then he exclaimed, “All right, then, my friend. I invoke the Rite of Sign-tarâg.”
Celebrimbor turned to Elrond and asked, “What is the Rite of…” but he was silenced by the low rumbling of the door opening.
The Dwarves beckoned Elrond to enter. Their grunts and armour jingled.
“I'll rejoin you in Eregion. Are you certain you know what you're doing? Lord Celebrimbor, trust me. You are a master of your craft, my friend. Allow me a few days to work mine,” instructed Elrond as he disappeared into the dark depths of the mountain.
Elrond gasped in amazement as he was led–pushed through the great halls of Moria. It had changed so much in the span of a few years. He was taken to a room filled to the brim with dwarves. They were chanting in unison, drinks clinking and ale spilling on the floors.
“Khazad!” A deep voice rang out. The crowd parted and Elrond took in the sight of his old friend Durin. Time had treated him well.
“Dûm!” The other dwarves chimed in response.
“My heart sings to see you, old…” Elrond smiled.
“The Elf Elrond has invoked the Rite of Sigin-tarâg.” Durin scoffed. “The Dwarven test of endurance, fashioned by Aulë himself. Once we lift our hammers, we shall break the great stones until one of us can break no more.”
A cheer of shouts broke out from the crowd.
Durin turned to Elrond a glare in his eye. “Should the Elf forfeit, he will be banished from all Dwarven lands. Forever!” The dwarves cheered. “Does the Elf understand?
A pang of hurt flashed in Elrond’s eyes as he grasped the seriousness in his friend’s words. “The Elf does.” He muttered.
“In the unlikely event, the Elf should win...We shall grant a single boon. But should he lose... Banished.
“Yes. Understood.” Muttered Elrond.
“Mm. Begin!” Exclaimed an elderly dwarf.
A horn blew and cheers of Durin’s name filled every mouth in the crowd. The red-headed dwarf raised his axe high above his head. With a thud, he brought it down upon the large boulder. It shattered into a thousand pieces scattered across the room.
Durin triumphantly looked towards Elrond. “Here we go, Elf.”
Elrond nodded and raised his axe, bringing it down with a swift bang. The rock broke underneath his axe. Cheers and gasps erupted. The trial had begun.
_______
Elrond’s muscles ached as he leaned against his axe. The cheers of the dwarves all around him pounded his head. He peered up at Durin who stood patiently waiting. His eyes narrowed and his face held an unreadable expression.
Elrond stood and placed his axe on the ground. He had forfeited.
“A dog may bark at the moon. But he cannot bring it down. Take your leave.” Durin sneered.
“Perhaps His Lordship would be willing to escort me to the exit?” Elrond asked.
“Gladly,” Durin grumbled.
Durin had dragged Elrond out of the room and together they stepped on a lift to the exit. Elrond’s eyes scanned his surroundings taking in the beauty of the mountain.
“Remarkable. I never dreamed to find your city so changed.”
“Now, 20 years will do that,” clarified Durin.
“Has it been only 20? You must tell me your secret.”
“Our secrets are our own.” spat Durin. He crossed his thick arms over his torso.
Elrond’s eyes softened. “Durin, have I offended you?”
“To answer that, we'd need a longer lift.” Durin turned away from Elrond.
“If you wish to discharge me without explanation, that is your choice.” Elrond calmly replied.
“You bet your feathery shirts it is.”
“But,” Elrond placed his hand on Durin's shoulder, “before squandering the best opportunity any Dwarf prince has had in a generation, you might at least listen to the proposal I bring.”
He knocked the comforting hand away. “Ah, there it is. The true purpose of your visit. You want something.”
“I journeyed here to see my friend, whom I've greatly missed.”
“Missed?” scoffed Durin. “You missed my wedding. The birth of my children, two of them! Even if she's…” Elrond’s brow piqued interest. “Never mind,” brushed off Durin. “You cannot barge into my mountain and demand I welcome you with open arms. You cannot claim that which you discarded.”
“Discarded? Durin, I…” fretted Elrond. He leaned down towards Durin.
“Twenty years might be the blink of an eye to an Elf. But I've lived an entire life in that time. A life you missed.” The lift came to an end and the entrance to the mountain was insightful. “So, what do you have to say to that... "Friend?"” blubbered Durin.
“Congratulations,” Durin’s eyes widened at the words. “On your wife, your children. I hope you can come to forgive me. And I would like very much to apologize to your family as well.
“Hmm,” grumbled Durin trying to hide his shock at Elrond’s statement. “One apology to Disa and you're off. No getting better acquainted. No reminiscing about the past. And absolutely no staying for dinner.”
“Understood.” smiled Elrond.
_________
A beautiful sturdy woman gasped as Elrond and Durin entered his home. “Aulë's beard! No! This cannot be Elrond, can it?” She smiled. Her white teeth shimmered like the finest of gems the great mountain could prepare.
“I fear so, fair lady.” smiled Elrond. He bowed his head in greeting.
“Durin didn't tell me you were coming,” she gasped.
“Durin didn't know,” he mumbled as he rolled his eyes.
“I've been remiss in not visiting sooner,” Elrond apologized. “An oversight, for which I am here to humbly ask forgiveness.”
“You're staying for dinner,” Disa commanded.
Durin’s eyes widened, “He's leaving.”
“He's staying.” She glared at her husband.
“He's leaving!”
“He's staying,” she said sternly. Her tense gaze lingered on Durin.
The sweet sound of children laughing cut through the tension.
“Hey! I told you two to stay out of my mind!” Durin reprimanded.
“And I thought Afrell told you wee monsters to stay in bed!” Laughed Disa. Oh, come on! Gerda! Gamli! Come on, hurry along.”
“Make yourself comfortable, please,” Disa told Elrond.
“But not too comfortable,” grunted Durin as he made his way towards his children. Ushering them to bed.
“We’re expecting another guest, by the way, Durin. I invited Afrell.”
“Afrell?” wondered Elrond.
Disa opened her mouth to explain, but Durin cut her off. “The children’s nanny of sorts.” Disa sent him a look and Durin only brushed it off.
It wasn’t long before dinner was served and the three of them were enjoying a nice warm meal. Elrond placed his silverware on the table and turned to ask Disa a question. “How did you two first become acquainted?”
Disa smiled and glanced at her husband with loving eyes. “I was resonating in a freshly opened chamber, fairly confident we were onto a sizable silver deposit...
"Resonating?" asked Elrond. “I've not heard of resonating.”
“It's when we sing to the stone. You see, a mountain is like a person. It's a long and ever-changing story made of countless small parts. Earth and ore, air and water.”
Durin began to slurp his drink loudly but was shushed when Disa shushed him with the edge of her elbow.
“Sing to it properly,” she continued, “and each of those parts will reflect your song back to you, telling you its story, showing you what might be hidden, where to mine, where to tunnel, and... And where to leave the mountain untouched.
“It is a beautiful tradition,” Elrond said softly.
Durin rolls his eyes. “When’s Afrell joining us?” He asked.
“She went to help Filgana with a few things. She will arrive when she is done.” She cleared her throat and turned back to Elrond. “Anyway, we're unpacking our tools, and my team suddenly grows quiet. Then, I see our prince. He's come to check on us. Far below his purview, mind you. At first, I thought it was merely curious. That is until he showed up at our next survey. And the one after that. And the one after that. Always did have a talent for lurking. Took weeks before he worked up the courage to court me properly.”
“Two weeks at most.” Clarified Durin.
“It was five.” Stated Disa. Elrond chuckled.
“You're lying,” he told his wife. “She's lying. She may play coy now, but she was a moon-eyed girl in love from the moment we met.” Disa shut him up with a loving kiss to his lips.
“A very happy match, indeed.” Elrond smiled.
“Should've been at the wedding,” grumbled Durin.
“Enough,” snapped Disa.
Suddenly, the low hum of the door could be heard. “‘Bout time,” muttered Durin as he rose from his seat. Elrond raised his brow and turned towards the direction of the door. A slow heavy sound followed by the light step of a foot could be heard. “Let me…” muttered Durin. A grunting could be heard as a metallic sound hit the floor. Disa rose from her seat to greet, whom Elrond could assume was Afrell. He rose from his seat, his head nearly hitting the ceiling.
Elrond froze as their guest came into view. His heart was now beating out of his chest and all form of formality was gone.
“Sorry, I’m late Disa,” apologize a sweet voice. It had been ages since Elrond had heard a sound like that. Its sweet melody turned sour in his memory after that fateful day. But the light had returned, and his heart felt light.
“Nonsense, you’re here now,” Disa exclaimed.
The woman brought her gaze from the floor and halted in her steps. Durin came from behind her and then looked between his friend and Afrell.
Elrond whispered your name as if he was saying a prayer. She was still as beautiful as the day he lost her. Her hair is now slightly longer. The flow of it highlights her figure. Her smile is as full of light and life as he last remembered it. Her eyes are deep and calm, yet her cheeks were flushed. His eyes fell over her, taking her in. He looked down towards her leg and noticed a metallic contraption around it. It glowed in the light like a star. The metal spiraled around her ankle and ended at her hip holding her leg in place.
“Elrond?” you muttered in disbelief. “Is that you?”
He rushed towards her, almost tripping over his gown. He steadied himself on her forearms. Slowly, he brought a hand to brush through her hair. Then he cupped her cheek. It was warm.
“You’re alive?” shuddered Elrond. His eyes are glassy and wide.
She chuckled. Oh, how he had missed that sound. “They found me underneath a pile of orcs. I was still breathing, but unconscious. The dwarves nursed me back to health. Well…” she explained. She looked towards her leg entangled in the metal. “My leg was crushed. I wasn’t able to walk., except Durin here,” She nodded towards Durin, and he sheepishly looked away as Elrond glanced at him. “He made this brace for me and helped me walk again.”
“Why didn’t you come to find me?” pondered Elrond still in shock.
“It was only until a few years ago I was able to stand on my own.” She glanced down. “I had to repay them for saving my life, so I’ve been using my medicinal skills here and there. At least until my debt has been paid.”
“For the last time lass, you have no debt,” exclaimed Durin.
Elrond’s eyes glanced over you again as if trying to mark your image in his memory forever. “You’re here.”
She smiled and leaned into his hand. “I’m here, nin mel”
Elrond felt a tear escape and fall down his cheek. She smiled and gently wiped it away. He brought his forehead to rest on hers. She was here. She was alive. She was safe.
Durin cleared his throat. “Kiss already, would you?! Dinner’s waiting.”
Disa hit him on the shoulder, and he yelped out. She took it upon herself to drag Durin out of the room, offering the two of you some privacy. You laughed and so did Elrond. Your eyes flickered down as the fire crackled in the background.
Your laugh was contagious. Taking a finger, Elrond gently lifted your chin up. He gazed lovingly into your eyes, and you held your breath. His eyes flickered between yours his heavy breaths tickling your face. Slowly, he closed the distance and did what he wished he did that day you rode off out of his sight. His eyes closed as his soft lips met hers. He kissed you, forever sealing you with him in his memory.
You were alive. You were together. You were back in his arms. You were safe.

Tumblr media
Lindir x elf! fem reader
I do not own the gifs used
One-shot
warning: angst, slight smut _ Minors DNI !!!
backstory: You are one of Elrond's daughters who met Lindir during your 'teenage' years and now you are both adult elves.
[y/n pov]
" princess." I turned around to come face to face with yet another suitor that my father has chosen for me.Prince Legolas of Mirkwood .
" yes ?" I looked up at him, I had been staring off into the beautiful view of the many mountains surrounding us and the breathtaking sun set.
" I do not wish to marry anyone, you are very beautiful but-"
" I know Prince Legolas, I know you wish to explore and do nothing more than to find your own path, I... I want to follow my own path as well."
" Then why don't you join me ? Perhaps you may discover a warm hearth of your own."
" No, I found mine, but alas my father does not approve."
He looked into the distance staring at the same sunset I had found myself lost in," I was once the same, loved someone who my father did not approve. "
" What happened to them ?"
" They loved another..."
" I'm sorry."
He smiled and nodded before getting up and bowing." I will be taking my leave princess."
I simply smiled and stayed seated. Will I lose the one I love as well ?
" my lady ?" I look up to see the one person who brightens up my world, Lindir.
" yes Lindir ?" I asked, " Your father requests to see you."
I smiled and got up, Lindir offered his arm and escorted me to the beautiful gardens, there my father was sitting enjoying a cup of tea.
" You wished to speak to me father ?" I asked.
He stood and offered the seat next to him and nodded towards Lindir, causing him to leave.
" We have much to speak about my dear."
I sat next to my father on the bench and asked," What are we going to speak about ?"
" Your marriage to Prince Legolas."
" Father.... I think Legolas and I are not suited for one another."
" Nonsense ! You two are perfect, both are high elves from esteemed families."
" I-Father, I love someone else."
" You do not know what love is, you are infatuated with someone else, but once you marry Legolas that infatuation will disappear. "
" B-but father... I know its love."
" Do not speak back to me ! It has been settled that you will marry Legolas !"
" Arwen was able to marry Aragorn ! Why can I not choose who I wish to marry ?!"
" And Arwen will pay the consequences with her own life, she chose the path of a human."
" But father- he is not hu-"
" Lindir will no longer be your personal servant, he will move elsewhere in the palace."
" BUT FATH-"
" No buts!" he got up and quickly walked away as I clenched my fists, How could this happen ? How did he know ?
I felt the tears slip out as I stared into the garden ahead of me, remembering the countless Times that I sat here with Lindir wishing to run away together.
Why does he not let me choose my own path ?
" Princess?"
That sweet voice, I turned to see a concerned Lindir. I sniffed and tried wiping my tears and threw on a smile," He knows ."
He looked at me," I know."
" How ?" I asked. He looked down," Because I told him."
My eyes widened as I looked straight into his eyes," Why ?!"
" Beca-because I no longer love you."
I looked him straight into his eyes, hoping to see his true emotions, but all I saw was coldness, nothing but venom.
I shook my head and walked away. Once I felt the distance I began to run away into my bedroom and threw myself onto my bed.
It seemed like everything was being destroyed, how could he not love me after he had told me I reminded him of the beautiful stars in the night sky. With determination I sat up and walked out making my way towards the servant quarters.
Once I made it to his room I did not knock, my anger blinded me as I walked in," I will not-"
I was cut off at the screaming and scuffling, before me was Lindir, his bare chest in full view, he was changing his clothing.
" Princess-"
I cut him off," Silence, do not speak but listen. I- You are a horrible person Lindir, you lull me with such sweet and kind words, tell me you loved me and gave me my first kiss, yet suddenly you decide that you no longer love me anymore ?! Why have you played with my heart ? Do my feelings not matter ?!" I was waving my arms, my anger was beginning to sizzle into sadness.
"I.. Please princess do not make me do this."
" Do what ?!"
" You deserve to be with someone of the same standing, someone grand, someone who can buy you everything your beautiful heart desires, the finest silks for a beautiful face and body, all the books for the most brilliant mind. I can not offer that, I am simply a Servant."
" When are you going to get through you thick skull that I do not want nor need that ! I love you and I always chose you." I Yelled out, my chest puffing as I was trying to catch my breath from yelling and clenching my fists against my robes.
He did not utter a word until I turned around and said," so be it, I will Marry Legolas, he will love me, kiss me, make sweet love to-"
I was cut short as he pushed me against the wall, his bare chest pressing against my back," do...do not utter such words." he growled.
"why does it bother you? You already told me that you do not love me anymore." I felt the tears fall from my eyes as I looked into Lindir's," Am I so easily disposable to you ?" I felt my voice break.
He grabbed my cheeks and pulled my face into a long and -passionate kiss, " You could never be disposed of, you're the love of my life, but you know we can not be together."
I looked down at my feet, he was right, my father will only send Lindir away and I would still be forced to wed Prince Legolas and move into Mirkwood.
" Please, can we be together for one more night ?" I looked back up as I pleaded, knowing this would truly be the last time we would see one another as lovers. He placed his forehead against mine as he whispered, " as you wish my love."
Tumblr media
I had finally retreated back into my quarters after I had spent the day avoiding my father and acting normal with the new maid at my side. She had finally left me alone and I stood staring outside of my window at the beautiful stars. How cruel was this life that I could not even spend it with the one that I love ?
I heard a very quiet knock, I got up and opened the door quietly to see Lindir. He quickly latched his lips against mine and closed the door behind him. We fell atop of my bed and continued kissing.
His touch felt like electricity on my skin as we both undressed one another. The moon was illuminating the room as the small candle in the corner of my bedroom was slowly dimming itself.
The thought itself of letting go brought more tears to my eyes and down my cheeks. He looked at me lovingly and kissed my tears away and whispered endless 'I love you' to me.
He left a trail of kisses from my jaw down towards the valley of mu breasts, leaving marks on them and abusing the skin. Knowing it was the last time we could have these moments I gripped the bed sheets under me tighter trying to surpass these thoughts as he whispered," just focus on me, my love, It's just us and no one else. "
I looked into his eyes and nodded and placed both of my legs atop of his shoulder and he placed kisses between my lips. He slowly began to drag his tongue between them placing pressure on my clit as he rubbed the outside of my needy hole. I found myself becoming wetter by the second as he inserted a finger into it and continued to suck and abuse my cunt. I felt euphoria. It was just us and no one else.
" Come undone my love, I am here to savor every moment of it."
And I did come undone as I gripped the bedsheets and moaned, secretly hoping no one could hear the lewd noises coming out of my being.
He then came back up and kissed my lips and held me in his arms.
" Please let me in."
I felt him slowly coming inside me, the pain was excruciating, but nothing could compare to the pain I will feel after this night is over. We became one as he held my hands and began thrusting, He never once stopped kissing me, I felt his tears fall onto my face, the saltiness mixing into the kiss.
The moon was bright, illuminating our sweaty bodies, the candle died. He pulled out and laid on my chest after we both reached ecstasy, basking in each others warmth.
He cried into my chest, I felt pain in my chest as I stoked his hair. He kissed my forehead, cheeks, then lips.
" I am so sorry my love, I would do anything just to be with you." I felt myself whimper and hug him close, " Lindir...I don't want to leave you."
" I know my love.."
.
.
.
That did not stop him from leaving my room in the middle of the night. There I was.... laying in my bed, despite the many furs covering my skin, I still could feel the cold.
perhaps in another life we can meet again....
AN: Sorry I kinda lost sight of this story, so apologies if its a little messy.

Imagine being there to witness everything and watching your beloved die
Tumblr media
(Well, this is almost an series forth headcanon. I do love some angst in stories, but this one was sad one to write, so be aware of the warnings)
Requested by anonymous
Warnings; ANGST, violence, goes a lot with the canon, doomed love and doing nothing to save the day. Angst level cruesome.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
- You know how the story goes. You loved every Tolkien’s work, the most favorite being the lord of the rings and the hobbits. However, you did not expect to get thrown into the same world at the point where it all began.
-You have read Silmarillion and know its deep history, so you know how it all went. You did not know how to react because the first age was all about war and bloodshed over three jewels everyone was obsessed with having.
-Meeting the valars and the infamous elves was something, so those parts were exciting, at least.
-Most of the time, when someone gets suddenly transported to another world. It was either mysterious or reincarnation, like in every fanfic and novel you managed to cross.
-Surprisingly, you had a purpose in Arda.
-There was a voice who asked you to record history firsthand, then you woke up in the gardens of Lorien with an empty book in your hands.
-The valars were uncertain when you spoke about your situation to them. You were a human and appeared out of nowhere. They did conclude the mysterious voice who brought you to Arda was Eru himself.
-They believed your story, but since humans were not supposed to awaken yet. They made you wear enchanted earrings that helped you to appear as an elf to the firstborn.
-They then gave you a tour around Aman and allowed you to walk freely.
-It was exciting because you had the chance to meet all the famous elves from the books like Galadriel, Fingon, and Finrod. Well, the whole Finwean house itself. You even bore witness to the family drama between Fingolfin and Feanor himself.
-Feanor was scary as hell. He always looked like he always had a scowl on his face and appeared as Noldor prince should, but surprisingly he was pretty chill when you went to meet him with a Vanyar noble, who also acted like your guide.
-He was respectful and welcoming, which was a surprise when you know what he would later do for his most prized creations. You used to think of him as a bit self-centered and arrogant for a character, so it was a lovely surprise that he might have been an average person until the grief and loss of the silmarils got him.
-However, the scowl always returned when any of his half side of the family was around. You did not know why, but it was funny to watch. It was like their existence was a war crime against his life.
-You didn’t have much to do in the beginning and had no idea what to write since you knew what would happen in the future. You chose not to write anything about the future because you didn’t want to change the course of the story. Even the tiniest change could change the story drastically, so you desired to avoid that.
-Living as an elf was fun for a while, but it got boring pretty quickly.
-You sometimes wrote things you saw in events, but sometimes you simply wrote stuff like you saw a squirrel one day.
-The elves were also too refined and collected. You missed human things like wild parties and shenanigans without too many rules.
-Maybe you were too human for an elf.
-Also, your earrings were itchy as hell. You have several times almost removed them in front of elves till you remember you’re not an elf, which was troublesome because you were not used to wearing earrings 24/7.
-It almost happened again when you were chilling in a local garden, and your ears itched like lice. You tried to make sure no one was around and tried to scratch the spot until someone suddenly appeared out of thin air, scaring the soul out of you.
-It was awkward, and the special someone was the red-haired prince Maedhros or Nelyafinwe Maitimo since Maedhros was his sindaring name.
-He smiled in embarrassment and apologized for the scare. You were scratching your ears quite aggressively, and he heard you curse like a sailor, so he was curious if you were alright.
-You quickly assured him everything was alright and told him you just had itchy ears.
-To your surprise, he was fully aware of who you were from a party you once attended with the Vanyar. You looked nothing like the golden-haired people, so he was curious to meet you.
-You told him your made-up background as an elf, then the conversation flowed from there like a breeze.
-He was super sweet and knew how to keep the conversation going.
-You know how to talk with people, but you felt shy around him and couldn't help but just listen while he spoke.
-You almost couldn't believe this tall redhead was this innocent and kind before all the atrocities his house would later commit for the sake of the oath.
-You thought it was going to be one time encounter, and he kind of gave you a nickname, the itchy-eared maiden. It was an embarrassing nickname.
-However, you started meeting up much more and hanging out like two casual friends.
-You learned a lot about his family and brought you to meet some, especially Fingon, who was super friendly.
-You liked hanging out and going out with him, but then you realized something. You had an actual crush on this elf.
-Sure, you might have simped for some fictional characters in life, but since you were actually in Arda and got to know him as a person. You knew it was real.
-It was wrong since you know how the story goes, and you promised not to tamper with it by including yourself, but you couldn't help but feel conflicted since Maedhros continued being sweet, and you just adored that aspect of him since he was like that with everyone.
-You hoped it was temporal, so you decided to have a little break and excuse you were busy with other things.
-Maedhros was understanding when you said you had some business and wished you well till you see each other again. You felt bad because you were technically avoiding him. You did not want to lie, but you had to. You can’t utterly fall in love with him. Even though; you most likely already have.
-He just made it worse by telling you you could count on him if you had troubles with your business.
-You left quickly, trying to think through your feelings for him.
-You stopped at Alqualonde, and some of your friends there didn’t make it easy when you revealed your feelings for someone. They kept encouraging you.
-Your crush calmed down a little because you told yourself that he might think of you as a good friend, not a possible lover.
-However, he didn’t make it easy when he started sending letters to you, asking how you were doing and keeping you updated on his family drama. It was falling hard for feelings all over again.
-You were stupidly in love with him. It turned out to be a grave mistake because you realized too late that the events of the Silmarillion were taking place.
-You agreed to meet with Maedhros one day and catch up. You dumbed on a strange tall man, and when you saw him, you almost froze.
-You had seen a lot of descriptions and fan art about the dark valar, but seeing him with your own two eyes was something else.
-Melkor was tall and eerily beautiful in his way, but the way he spoke left you to have goosebumps. And you almost shivered because he looked like he knew something was strange about you, especially when he asked about your book.
-Luckily, Maedhros came to the rescue and helped you leave the conversation and leave the dark Vala's sight.
-You panicked when Maedhros told you Melkor had been free for a while, which meant the story had started.
-It took all your willpower to have a panic attack. Things were about to go down, and you didn’t take notice because you were too busy living your life in this world.
-Maedhros sensed your distress and comforted you. He thought you were afraid of Melkor, so he tried to assure things were okay. You appreciated the effort. But you were not certain about accepting his affection when you knew what was coming.
-You watched from the side when things started to go down. The family drama in the house of Finwe became dire, and you were there when Feanor threatened Fingolfin with a sword.
-Maedhros tried to offer his comfort from time to time, but his family got banished for a while, and the pressure almost became too hard to handle since he stopped sending letters.
-You returned to Alqualonde, trying to calm your nerves. You even begged Eru to send you back to your world because you didn’t want to witness what was coming.
-You wrote everything in the book, but it didn’t ease the ache and fear for the future.
-You went for a walk one night to calm down your nerves and admire the stars. It helped for a moment until everything went dark.
-It was pitch black, and you couldn’t see anything. Luckily, the stars showed enough light then the realization hit you. It's the darkening of the trees.
-You were alone, so it was terrifying, especially when you saw the giant spider and Melkor with the silmarils in his hands. It was like a force struck you down because you couldn't move when you saw them.
-Luckily, they didn’t notice you, so you were left unscathed. You couldn't say much about Finwe thought.
-The fear left you frozen for a while, but you managed to get yourself free and return to Alqualonde.
-However, what you saw next were fire and blood.
-Maedhros stood among the fire, blade in his hands, coated with blood. You recognized many faces that lay around him, dead.
-You felt like deer in headlights because you got frozen with shock. You have never seen death before, so your body wasn’t reacting well.
-Maedhros tried to catch your attention, trying to make an excuse, but when he took hold of your arm. You panicked and started struggling in fear. You pushed his face away with the blood of his victims and ran away when you got free. You ignored his calls and just ran.
-The aftermaths weren’t pretty. You remained hidden with a couple of Teleri and helped them when things calmed down.
-There were so many dead. You felt awful because some were your friends and neighbors. They never did anything wrong, so they didn’t deserve it.
-Fingon found you mourning in the street. You told him about Maedhros, and he felt awful because he and his father helped the feanorians with the conflict. He almost broke down because you lived in the city and most of the Teleri were your friends.
-You didn’t honestly blame him because you knew what would happen next. Fingon was at least kind enough to help you bury your telerin friends.
-Even though; you shouldn't have. You decided to join the journey through Helcaraxe after burning the ships. The event didn’t surprise you, but you did wonder what Maedhros thought as he watched his family burn the stolen ships.
-The journey through the icy wasteland was brutal, more horrific than in the books.
-You watched as Turgon’s wife died, leaving him with their only child. You watched as the elves struggled and died from the cold, and they couldn't do anything to avoid it than curse Feanor and his sons.
-You tried to hold on to good memories with Maedhros, but it wasn’t easy.
-You took time to rest and record everything when you finally reached Middle earth. The sun was finally born, so you embraced the day.
-Fingolfin’s people were tired and pissed with the feanorians. You couldn't blame them. You were angry and hungry as hell.
-You weren’t surprised when they told Maedhros had been captured. It was going to happen, but it didn’t stop you worry about him because Angband was an evil place. You didn’t want to imagine the tortures he would suffer.
-You gave Fingon a hint when you caught him sneaking out to save Maedhros. It wasn’t too revealing. You said you just made some investigation about Angband.
-Fingon was grateful and returned with Maedhros upon the great eagle.
-You avoided confrontation until you got worried about him when he received backlash for giving up the crown and being a former thrall.
-He looked broken, so you mustered the courage to talk to him.
-Maedhros didn’t look you in the eye when you arrived. He only asked why you followed. You saw what he did to your home.
-You did not know the answer. Your task was to record the history that was about to happen, but at this moment, you were just worried.
-His eyes were filled with guilt when he turned to look at you. It broke your heart to see that, so you just stayed with him, offering comfort and company like all those years ago.
-You didn’t see each other often. Maedhros was busy with his duties, and you continued writing down everything in the book.
-You would spend time together, drinking and talking.
-You kept him informed and sometimes used dry humor to describe how cruel and stupid his father was to abandon a loyal addition to the army just to spite his half-brother for one final time.
-Maedhros allowed you to talk like that because he agreed and felt even more guilty when you told everything that happened in Helcaraxe.
-You sometimes helped him with his hair since he had trouble with one hand. It was to help him relax, and you enjoyed the calm silence it would bring.
-Maedhros was hardened, but he was still that sweet elf you met in the garden all those years ago, and your still existent feelings didn’t make your situation easy.
-You tried to avoid your feelings, pushing yourself to be an unimportant character who technically doesn’t exist to anyone.
-However, you noticed some things about Maedhros.
-He was more gentle with you than anyone else and didn’t refuse anything when you asked him for little favors. Fingon does it too, and he was the high king.
-He said he didn’t have the right to refuse anything from you after what happened. When he wronged the Teleri, he wronged you, so he was willing to do anything you wanted.
-You would have thought it was sweet, but it was just sad because the Teleri deserved the compensation, not you.
-Things didn’t look up when the battle of the unnumbered tears finally happened, and you lost Fingon.
-You can still remember the moment when you hugged him one last time before the battle because you knew it would be his last.
-You wished you could have done something because the pain was unbearable when Maedhros brought back his mangled body.
-You wished you could have done something, but you didn’t want to change the timeline. It would have been too dangerous and unpredictable.
-Maedhros turned for the worse, and you tried to support him, but it wasn’t enough.
-You wished you could have interfered and stopped him from making the worse mistakes, but you kept telling yourself you couldn't because it was not in your right to change anything.
-You watched as he killed more elves for his damned oath and everything just went wrong.
-You stopped talking for a while because you focused on trying to help raise Erenion because he was the last thing you two had from Fingon.
-Maedhros sometimes sent letters, asking how you two were doing and if someone was causing you trouble. Nothing else.
-You tried asking yourself why you kept forgiving and seeing him, knowing his fate was near. Maybe because of your feelings. Because you still loved him and hoped there might be an alternative ending.
-The day finally arrived, and you met little Elrond and Elros.
-They looked innocent, and you never imagined meeting the lord of Rivendel when he was just a little child. Pure yet subjected to violence at such a young age.
-You already knew the explanation Maedhros and Maglor were going to give you, so you just tried to welcome the little twins with open arms.
-It was peaceful for a while. The twins warmed up to you quickly and enjoyed all the stories you had to offer. They were just the sweetest beings in the world.
-You and Maedhros barely talked at first, but he slowly opened up and apologized for failing everything. You wanted to forgive him but couldn't.
-You and Maedhros sometimes stayed all night, admiring the stars and drinking something warm with blankets. You two sometimes talked about better things that could have happened.
-It was peaceful, and your little group started to feel like a family. You hoped things would have turned out well in the end, but they didn’t.
-Maedhros and Maglor decided to give the twins to you and go for the last silmarils. You knew begging would do nothing, but you asked Maedhros to consider and not leave you.
-He looked at your tear-struck eyes, stepping closer to cup your face as you both looked into each other’s eyes for the last time with sadness and guilt.
-He whispered words in forbidden Quenya and apologized one last time because he would not be able to fulfill your wish this time before placing a gentle kiss upon your forehead.
-He then left.
-You watched as he stole the silmaril and jumped into the fiery pits of the earth. You watched as Maglor threw the silmaril into the sea and vanished to forever lament the wrongdoings of their house in regret.
-You were glad for them since the oath was finally gone, but it didn’t heal the pain of knowing you could have done something, yet you did nothing to spare them from this fate.
-You sat upon the cliff, gazing into the ocean as the book lay on your lap. The first age was over, so you were finished. You begged the voice to let you go home, but no answer came from heaven.
-You finally broke after hundreds of years.
-Years of watching from the sides and watching the one you love kill himself finally got to you. You got left with nothing but a task you did not want in the first place and earrings so you could appear as a fake elf. You did not belong in this world, so why couldn't you leave?
-You did not move until Elrond and Elros came looking for you. They sensed your distress like it was their own, but to their shock, you revealed your ears and told them the truth of your existence.
-You expected them to hate you because that’s what you deserved. However, the two forgave you. Elrond asked you to live because you were all they had left, and it broke you because they were also all you had from Maedhros.
-Your pain did not heal. You had difficulties finding joy, but you mustered the strength to continue because you couldn't bring yourself to leave Elrond and Elros. The two needed someone to support them, so you decided to be at least that to them.
-You hated Eru for giving you this task as you found no reason to smile anymore. You hated yourself, and you had no power to change anything. Maedhros was gone, and you remained.

Elrond Angst Snippet #1
Tumblr media
Description: You and Elrond meet once more on the decimated plains of Mordor.
You took no pleasure in knocking Elrond to the ground, your sweet Elrond, the man who put his trust and heart in your hands so willingly.
He coughed and stayed down, looking up at you with an unreadable expression that tugged at your heartstrings, and made the rations you ate earlier fight to come back up. The taste of ash and smoke fills your mouth, your eyes blurry with tears, both enraged and mournful.
If only he had stayed in Lindon, or Khazad-dûm, somewhere he would have been safe, but no. He followed Galadriel here, to the ruins of your homeland. Now he was bruised and beaten, laying at your feet.
There’s a Southlander saying, I’ll spare you my native tongue, and say it to you in Common. Much water shall flow beneath many bridges before I forget you.” You said, leaning down, to meet Elrond’s eyes.
He was laying in the dirt, clothes ripped, skin covered with ash and blood. His chest rising and falling rapidly, as he looked up at you, endless grief in his oakwood eyes. “Why would you tell me this?”
You glanced up to see your master still locked in combat with Galadriel. “I do not wish to kill you Elrond, you have a place in my heart no one else can fill, but I cannot let you interfere.”
“Sauron will kill us all.” He said, voice strained and raspy, from the smoke.
You knelt down, slamming your fist against the ground next to his head, an uncontrollable rage surging through you. “You still do not understand, we are trying to fix it, fix everything he has done. It is penance, reparations, but we cannot do so, if the elves are always in the way.”
“We will always fight to preserve the light in the world.” There was a fire in his eyes, and you wished he would see reason, and go home.
You grabbed his breastplate, hauling him up slightly. “There will be, you must give us time, Adar has to be defeated first.”
His arm comes up and weakly tucked a lock of your hair behind your ear, fingers lingering on your cheek. “There is still time, my starlight. Return with me, fight against him.”
You closed your eyes, tears spilling past your lashes. “You know I cannot. I have bound myself to his mission, I will see it through.”
The sounds of war cries, and horses filled your ears. You both looked up and Elrond grasped your arm. "Stay with me, my heart is still yours, do not leave it here.” He pleaded, his lips brushing against yours.
“Y/N, now is the time to retreat.” Halbrand shouted, breaking away from Galadriel and running back towards Mount Doom.
You rested your forehead against Elrond’s breathing in the faint scent of him underneath the ash. “It will take much for me to forget you, and the way you have made me feel. That is the meaning of the saying.”
You gently released him, and got to your feet, blinking back tears as you ran after Halbrand, too afraid to look back, knowing if you did, you’d never be able to leave Elrond again.

You could do nothing but watch in horror of what you were witnessing, Gil-Galad and Elendil had both entered combat with sauron, it was obvious both of them would perish at his hand, as you had done once before, or almost had as the dark lord had cursed you to forever walk middle earth and could not return to Valinor.
You wanted to make you way to them both to help them maybe have a chance but you were to outnumbered by the orcs which were charging at you, you defeated one and two then three came in the place of the slain, you had lost Elrond in the sea of battle long before.
You had to tear your eyes away from your love so you didn't get injured by orcs, you soon felt your back colid with someone else you glance back to see the young Sindar prince Thranduil, blood stained his face and dragon fire cursed the otherside of it, the only thing keeping him fighting was adrenaline and the fear of dying, there was also determination in his eyes, he must of seen someone he loved die.
the painful scream of the elven high king rung through your ears, you turned your head to see the heat of suaron's bare hands take your lover.
"Gil" His name made your voice break as you whispered it quietly under your breath, suaron may of been defeated now but the two had been taken down with him.
your blade pierced the last orc neck which had not fled you pulled your sword back the blood splattering onto your already dirt, ash and blood stained face, you made your way to the slopes of mount doom were the battle took place avoiding stepping on the fallen elves, Elrond was no were to be seen he had taken isuldir to destroy the one ring, you glanced to the spear which stood with the broken and battered body of Celebrimbor you turned your head back down and continued your way to him.
His body was burnt beyond recognition, you dropped your sword before you dropped to your knees you cradled his body with is head on your folded up cape.
"Come on stupid curse i know you can bring people back, you've fucking done it before" you cursed it had it left because suaron was dead, no no it did not or your soul would of passed to the halls of mandos
"Come on gil you can't have died on you" you cried.
You decided to join Elrond and help him make Imladris, the bodies of your fallen had been transported there for a proper burial.
"I feel sorry for Thranduil not only did he had to lose his father but he also became king with no preparation" you said as you walked with Elrond to the healing wards where the bodies where being prepared to be buried, a healer had called you there because of something urgent neither of you knew what it was though.
"Lord Elrond, Y/n will you please wait, I believe you should see this separably" the healer who greeted you said Elrond nodded following her you took your place resting on the wall, most of the elves you could see were young not even passed 2,000 and they were called to serve in battle, sure they had training and were good but not good enough for suarons forces in large numbers, you decided to walk to one of them, you recognized him, he brought you the report right before the battle, you had also been friends with his father who had died in an orc ambush his name was Erúion.
You moved his hair from out of his face, the healer who was tending to him jumped at your presents you took the rag and water without a word and washed the blood from his face, he gasped, your eyes widened as he breathed in you dropped the bowl onto the floor spilling the water, you watched as his eyes fluttered open, the cut on his neck closed steaming.
"Y/n" he questioned looking at your shocked face
"You look like you have see a dead person" He laughed sitting up he winced in pain.
"You, you were just dead, your neck it was cut open" You said he laughed again
"Silly Y/n, I am just fine i have no cut open neck" Erúion said.
Tumblr media
"How is this possible" Elrond questioned as he looked at Gil-Galad who was perfectly fine sleeping
"I do not know the full details but his body has slowly been repairing itself since collecting the bodies, I believe this maybe the work of Y/n, their mother was a healer known for healing the most fatal of wounds on elves other healers could not, their father had an unexplained magical ability, both families they came from either have fae blood or blood from a Valar, i looked deeper in their father It turns out long before mandos took his wife, he loved an elf, y/n is related to mandos, the curse suaron placed on them only awakened the Valar magic which was laying dormant in the family gene, they were only supposed to not be able to pass to mandos, but insted they got the ability to commune with the spirits and more, this is only a hypothesis" the healer said the king in the bed groaned as he slowly awakened
"What happened, I thought I died, I saw the halls of Mandos but I was pulled back" Gil-galad said
"Did you see anything else, was it a person pulling you back" The healer asked
"Yes, it was Y/n" Gil-galad said questioningly Elrond looked to the healer, the two left the room to get you, only to see you and a wide awake Erúion
"I believe my theory is true, y/n can resurrect people" the healer said
"What" you questioned from looking dumbly at Erúion and towards Elrond and the healer
"Just follow us" Elrond said they brought you to the room but Elrond covered your eyes before you entered
"Elrond what is the meaning of this" You said trying to fight him as he lead you in, he took his hands away.
"what kind of sick joke is this" You demanded turning to the lord
"This is no joke" Elrond said
"It isn't funny" You said poking the lords chest
"He is right Meleth-nin It is no joke, I am really alive, i don't know how, mandos kicked me from his halls" Gil-galad said
"How am I meant to know you are not some poser" you said
"When i tried to confess to you the first time, I fell into one of the fountains and lost my crown, no one but you knew about it, not even Elrond, you promised not to tell him as he would shout at me if he learned of it" Gil said
"I am sorry but you feel into a fountain and lost your crown how stupid are you" Elrond said
"It was deep okay" Gil-Galad said.
"Fuck it" you muttered as you walked to your lover and hugged him
"We will leave" Elrond said he and the healer left
"You frightened me Meleth I though you had died" you said as you brushed his hair out of his face.
"I did die, but not for very long" Gil-Galad respounded kissing you.
"Uh no, you can't have kisses" you said
"Why" Gil said
"You died on me" You said
"I came back didn't I" he responded
"I am still mad about it" you said he laughed and wrapped his arms around you pulling you down and kissing you
"and I say no, you will have all the kisses I want to give you" Gil said you huffed but gave into him as he wasn't going to let you go anytime soon as he showered you in kisses, there was no point arguing against it, he would just ignore it and be stubborn.

Chapter 5
Thorin Oakenshield x AFAB!Reader
Summary: There's only one bathing pool and all of the pent up tension between you and Thorin finally starts to come to a head in the form of a bet
Warnings: smut, 18+, NSFW, Minors do not interact, angst, fingering, spanking, light choking, biting
author's note: Ahhhh! I'm so excited to finally share this chapter with you guys!!!!!! There will be plenty more spiciness to come between these two, and that is a promise, dear reader😉
Word count: 3686
To say you were in need of a bath would be a massive understatement. After spending so long on the road you felt as though you were covered in a permanent layer of dirt and dust. Your boots were caked with mud and your hair seemed to be harboring an entire forest of leaves and twigs.
When Lord Elrond offered you rooms to wash up before dinner, you were all too happy to accept. You had spent so much time in Rivendell over the years that you knew exactly how to get to your regular guest suite.
The wardrobe was still full of fine gowns and shoes in your exact size. The well-worn books you had failed to return to the great library still sat undisturbed in a pile next to the bed. It took a great amount of restraint to keep yourself from running your fingers along all of the familiar elven luxurious. Not until you had scrubbed all of the dirt and grime from your skin.
There is a large bathing pool right outside your room that you are all too eager to step foot in. It is always filled with warm, flowing water, and the ceiling above remains open to reveal the sky overhead. You grab yourself a clean towel and practically skip through the adjoining door.
Only to stop short when you see someone else has already beaten you to it.
“No!” you shout in frustration and Thorin turns to see you pouting angrily at him from the doorway.
He chuckles at your frustration from where he already stands in the warm waters up to his chest. You take extra care to direct your glare right at his face, refusing to let your gaze wander down to all the exposed skin.
“Sorry lass, not fast enough this time,”
“Thorin,” you growl, “do you have any idea how long I’ve been waiting to visit this pool again?” he just shrugs at you. “There's another one down the hall I’ve been told, if you hurry you might still be able to beat the others to it.”
“Don’t you think I know that?” you snap before letting out a sigh.
“I can’t use that one,” you mumble, “it’s too…deep.”
Thorin stares at you in confusion for only a moment before barking out a laugh.
“Are you saying,” he chuckles, “that after all these years you still haven’t learned how to swim?”
You growl at him before turning around to march back to your room.
“Wait!” he calls after you, still laughing. “I’m sorry, lass. We can share if you’d like? There’s plenty of room.”
You turn back to look at him suspiciously. He’s right, it’s a very large pool you could easily fit several people at once. The problem is that sharing it would mean taking your clothes off in his presence. It’s one thing for him to be naked, while you stand there fully clothed. But the depth of the water prevents you from seeing anything below his chest and you have a lot more…parts, that require coverage.
It’s not that you feel insecure about your body, especially with all of the low-coverage outfits you’ve worn while performing. It's just that the idea of Thorin seeing you in that capacity feels… different.
“I won’t look,” Thorin promises, seeing your internal debate.
The water looks so refreshing and warm,  you can’t help but think it would be worth the risk.
“Fine,” you relent, tossing your towel nearby and toeing off your boots. “But if I catch you peeking you’re walking out of that pool with fewer parts than you had going in.” He turns around slowly to face the wall when you reach up to undo the laces of your trousers, shimmying them down your legs before letting them fall into a muddy pile with your blouse not far behind.
You cautiously dip one foot into the water, slowly lowering your body all the way in and  a contented sigh escapes past your lips before you can stop it.
The water comes up to your shoulders, and you try to rearrange your hair as best as you can so it covers your breasts.
“Alright,” you tell him, and he cautiously turns to face you again.
His gaze slowly trails down every inch of exposed skin, lingering just a moment longer on the ends of your carefully placed hair.
Thorin takes a cautious step closer towards you and your breath catches in your chest. He slowly moves closer and closer to you until he’s standing right before you. If you were to drop your gaze, it would be safe to assume that you could see all the way down his torso, perhaps even further… which is exactly why you keep your chin held high and your eyes locked on his.
He lifts one hand up out of the water and lifts it up reaching towards your chest ever so slowly. Your eyes widen and you temporarily forget how to breathe in anticipation as his hand finally makes contact… with the bar of soap beside you.
He takes a few steps back with that self-righteous smirk on his face as he starts to run the soap between his hands.
“Is something the matter?” he asks you tauntingly, “one might say you look… disappointed.”
You let out a growl and angrily splash water in his direction but he just laughs at your irritation.
You turn around to dunk your head underwater, wetting your hair enough to start lathering in one of the fragrant shampoos sitting by the side of the pool.
With the product now in your hair, all of the dirt and debris finally starts to untangle itself from your head. All except for one particularly stubborn twig that seems to have knotted itself around several strands of your hair in one of the most inconvenient and unreachable places on your head. You yank and pull at it blindly but no matter how hard you try it only seems to make it worse. You could try adding more products but it would be pointless.
“Could you help me please?” you ask with a frustrated sigh. Thorin hums in confirmation behind you and you feel the heat radiating off him as he wordlessly approaches you from behind.
You let your arms fall back to your sides in the water as his strong hands come up behind you to take their place. He delicately starts untangling it one strand at a time. Moving gently to try and avoid causing you any pain. You can’t remember the last time someone’s played with your hair like this, and the sensation causes your eyelids to flutter closed and your shoulders to droop in relaxation as you sink slightly deeper into the water.
“I could teach you if you’d like,” he says quietly, “to swim I mean. It’s an important skill it just might save your life one day.”
“Sure it is,” you reply sarcastically, “you just want an excuse to grope me underwater,”
His fingers still for a moment, “It doesn’t have to be underwater, but if you’re offering…”
You tip your head back to look at him with your eyes narrowed, pretending to give it some thought.
“Hmm, I’m afraid I’ll have to decline your generous offer my king.” you reply formally, “I have very high standards for all my lovers, I only share my bed with those who can give pleasure just as well as they receive it.”
You’re only half joking to get under his skin, but Thorin doesn’t seem to take it that way.
His grip on your hair gently tightens, and he leans down to bring his lips beside your ear.
“Are you implying that I’m incapable of bringing a woman to climax?” he whispers darkly.
Shivers run up your spine and a hot clenching sensation forms in your belly. You shrug your shoulders nonchalantly.
“Care to make a wager on that?” he challenges.
“Very funny,” you smirk nervously, trying to dig yourself out of the hole you’ve quickly gotten yourself in.
“I’m not laughing,” he replies darkly, one of his hands leaves your hair to trace a slow, agonizing path down the side of your neck, before landing on your shoulder.
“I bet I could make you come, right here, right now, using only my fingers.”
You gasp at the filthy images that start to fill your mind and you’re forced to squeeze your thighs together to help relieve some of the ache.
“How about we make a deal,” he drags his other hand along your spine causing your back to arch in ecstasy. “If I can make you come, you have to let me teach you how to swim.”
You laugh at his request, before thinking of a condition of your own.
“And when you can't, you have to let Lord Elrond look at the map.” his hand stills on your back and you half expect him to refuse.
But he doesn’t. Instead, he brings both hands down to your hips and roughly pulls your back up against his chest. “Deal,” he whispers before playfully nipping at your earlobe.
One arm snakes around your belly to anchor you closer to him, while the other reaches up to grab one of your breasts. You moan as his hand squeezes and massages the soft flesh.
He growls into your ear and thrusts his hips deeper into your backside, making it all too clear to you just how his body is reacting to yours.
“Do you have any idea what you do to me?’ he asks, his hand on your breast starting to trace slow circles around your now hardened nipple. You bite your bottom lip trying your hardest to suppress the sounds of pleasure his ministrations threaten to pull from you.
“Do you know how many times, I’ve had to find some excuse to slip away, just so I could touch myself to thoughts of you in those damn trousers? It’s all I can think about.”
A wicked grin crosses your face. It brings you great satisfaction to know just how much of an effect you have on him.
“Tell me,” he whispers from behind you, his free arm moving down the curve of your ass to give it a rough squeeze. “When you touch yourself, what do you think of?”
His hand slides around your hip to slowly inch closer and closer down toward your core. You arch your back to encourage him to keep moving his hand closer, but he stops right above the spot where he knows you need him the most.
You let out a whine as he stubbornly keeps his hand frozen in place.
“I asked you a question,” he reminds you, “who do you think of?”
You tip your head back to rest against his chest, your eyes meeting his. You smirk at the dark lust you see in his eyes, swimming with desire for you. You think about lying to him, giving an answer that you know will make him angry, unhinged. But you don’t want to risk him moving that hand any farther away from your core.
“You, Thorin,” you whisper to him, “always you.”
He roughly brings his lips down to yours in a fierce kiss, and at the same time, he slides his fingers down the rest of the way to trace large circles around your core.  His hand at your breast reaches up to wrap around your throat, applying gentle pressure to keep you in place as he gives his tongue the freedom to explore your mouth.
You let out a moan before you can stop yourself, and you can feel the smirk on his face without even having to open your eyes. His teeth scrape against your bottom lip as his fingers start to tease circles around your entrance, one finger tracing the outside before pulling further away again.
You whine at his teasing and thrust your hips up to try and bring the entrance closer to his fingers.
He abruptly pulls his hand away when he realizes what you’re doing to roughly grab you by the hip, the hand around your throat tightening the smallest amount in warning.
“Uh, uh, uh,” he chides in your ear. “Behave yourself.”
He removes his hand from your throat and presses it between your shoulder blades, gently bending you over in front of him. He keeps a gentle hand on your hip and brushes all of your hair to one side of your neck, exposing your entire back to him.
Your hands reach up to grip the edge of the pool with a gasp as he starts to kiss his way down your spine slowly.
“Can you do that for me?” Thorin asks, “Can you be good?”
You nod eagerly as his lips hover over the curve of your backside that remains above the water.
You jolt in surprise as a hand comes down to your ass with a sharp smack.
“Use your words,” he demands, gently rubbing the now tender skin of your cheeks.
“I’ll be good,” you whisper hoarsely, “I promise.”
Thorin hums in approval as one hand slides down your bottom to tease the entrance to your core once again. His other reaches up to grab a fistful of your hair. With a gentle tug, he is pulling your head back to look at him.
The hand at your core leaves you briefly empty and wanting. He keeps his eyes locked on yours as two of his thick fingers push into your mouth. You can already taste the sweetness of yourself on him as he presses them deeper into your mouth. Your tongue licking and sucking every drop of yourself from them.
You let yourself put on a little show for him, imagining it wasn’t just his fingers in your mouth. Your eyes flutter closed at the idea of what it would taste like, what it would feel like to have that beast currently pressing against your thighs deep inside of you.
“Eyes open,” Thorin warns with a sharp tug of your hair.
He pulls his fingers out of your mouth, leaving you such a disoriented drooling mess that you don’t even notice where he’s relocated those fingers until they’re plunging deep inside you.
Thorin releases the hand in your hair to cover your mouth just barely fast enough to muffle the scream of pleasure you can no longer contain.
You push your hips back onto his fingers, signaling for him to start moving and he is oh so happy to oblige. He does not start slow, his brutal pace has you arching your back and crying into his hand at how quickly you can already feel your climax approaching.
That fire in your body is growing hotter and hotter and yet you still need more.
You desperately reach back behind you, blindly searching for his cock in an attempt to give yourself some kind of anchor in the storm of pleasure. As if sensing your intentions already he growls your name in a low warning, giving his fingers an extra deep thrust to catch you off guard.
You gasp into his hand, your fingertips just barely grazing the tip.
“That wasn’t part of the deal,” Thorin reminds you.
Shit. you think to yourself. The deal.
You were so confident that all of his talk would not be able to translate to the bedroom, that the only reason his fingers were deep inside your throbbing pussy right now was as part of a childish bet.
A deal to finally find the answers hidden in that map, to help you enter Erebor, and most importantly to knock his ego down more than a few notches.
If you let yourself come on his fingers like this he wins. You’ll have lost the wager, and he’ll be able to lord this victory over you for years to come.
You can’t let him win, you just can’t.
You bite down hard on the rough hand covering your mouth to try and distract both of you from your current task but it still isn’t enough to slow his pace. His eyes narrow at you from above, a wicked grin spreading across his face, seeming to relish the pain.
You growl in frustration, desperate to think of some way, any way to put a stop to the rising flame in your core.
You try thinking of the most unsexy things imaginable: Orcs, rotten fruit, trolls, too-tight corsets, chamber pots.
But no matter what you try the only thought you seem to be able to hold on to is Thorin.
Thorin who has his fingers inside you.
Thorin whose enormous cock is still pressed up against you.
Thorin whose beard keeps tickling your bare back.
Thorin whose blue eyes look like the hottest part of a burning flame.
Thorin whose deep voice sends shivers down your spine.
Thorin who left you.
Who abandoned you, lied to you, broke your heart.
A hot angry tear slides down your cheek and you bite harder into his palm, enough to feel droplets of blood start to roll down your chin and mix with the salt of your tears.
You hate him. He betrayed you, broke your trust, and left you all alone. And he has the audacity to still make you feel things for him? After everything?
Perhaps after everything, he owes you this much. A mind-blowing orgasm, deal be damned. You’ll convince him to share the map some other way.
You’re feeling a pleasure so intense, so intoxicating, that when his fingers finally hit that one perfect spot inside you, you let yourself come undone on him. You’re too high on your own bliss to even care that you’ve lost the bet.
You wait for Thorin to start gloating, to rub it in your face that you were wrong. But he doesn’t.
He just slowly removes his fingers from your core and his bloody palm from your face and quietly disappears behind you in the water. Your head suddenly feels impossibly heavy and you let yourself slump over the edge of the pool, exhausted and trembling.
Thorin reappears behind you with a gentle hand on your back, while the other brings a warm cloth against your skin.
He gently turns you to face him and you’re too tired to put up a fight. A strong arm wraps around your back to hold you upright against him. He brings the warm cloth to your face, gently wiping the mess off your chin and your lips, before trailing it farther and farther down washing every inch of exposed skin with an intense focus.
It’s getting harder and harder to keep your eyes open. Sensing your fatigue he drops the cloth as soon as he’s done and starts to slowly lead you out of the pool.
“Wait here,” he whispers as soon as you’re out of the warm water’s embrace, cold and shivering. You cross your arms over your chest to try and warm yourself before a soft towel is gently wrapped around your body. You attempt to take one, shaky step back towards your room and are immediately swept off of your fawn like legs into Thorin’s arms.
He carries you back into your suite, the both of you undoubtedly dripping water across the marble floor as he gently places you on the bed.
You’re almost disappointed to see that he now has a towel covering his bare waist.
You expect him to leave you now if he has no interest in gloating, but instead, he crawls onto the bed with you. His body heat is such a welcome feeling that you don’t protest when he settles in right behind you wrapping a strong arm across your wet skin and pulling you in closer towards him by your waist.
“You were trying to fight it weren’t you?”
You shiver at the sensation of his breath tickling the back of your neck.
“How could you tell?” you ask him.
He chuckles against your ear before giving it a playful bite.
“You always have this look on your face, whenever you’re trying to restrain yourself. I’ll admit it’s not a look I see often as you tend to say or do the first thing that pops into your head without thinking it through,” he grunts as your elbow reaches back to jab him in the ribs.
“What made you change your mind?” he asks in a serious tone. “You could have easily fought me off if you wanted to.”
“I know,” you reply with a sigh. “As much as I hated the idea of letting you win, I figured after everything you put me through, betraying and abandoning me, at the very least you owed me a mind-blowing orgasm.”
You can feel Thorin tense up behind you. You crane your neck to look back at him and he’s staring back at you with an intense look on his face that you can’t quite place.
“I would have thought you’d be flattered to hear me refer to it as ‘mind blowing’” you laugh nervously. He blinks at you and gives a weak smile before slowly untangling his arms from your waist so he can rise to a seat on the bed.
“The others are waiting,” he says, “we should head to dinner before someone comes looking for us.”
You nod silently, not having enough strength to call him out on the convenient change of subject.
“You go ahead,” you tell him, knowing you’ll need some time to process everything that’s just happened. “It might take me a while longer to finish getting ready,” you lie.
He rises from the bed, still clearly deep in thought as he crosses the room to head back to his own suite. He pauses for a moment with his hand on the doorknob, like he has something else he wants to say to you. But instead, he just disappears through the door without another word.
You let out a deep exhale and press the heels of your hands into your eyes.
“I can’t believe I just let Thorin Oakenshield finger fuck me,” you groan.

Elrond x Fem! Elf! Reader: Elrond gets injured and Reader avoids him
Tumblr media
Although Elrond never enjoyed putting his people's lives in danger, he would never refuse to assist those in need if requested. That is how he ended up in the middle of a bloody battlefield where armor, weapons, and bodies were being flung around like nothing. He was skilled enough in combat to protect himself from the enemy's blades, though. No matter how many orcs tried to attack him, he easily defeated them.
The battle raged on, the sound of blades deafening those involved. Arrows sped through the air and soon struck their victim, whose cries were barely audible. The elves fought with unmatched skill and grace, and Elrond slowly led them to victory. By that time, the orcs were outnumbered, and the elven Lord had some time to look around and aid his kin.
Amidst the chaos, Elrond caught sight of you, a brave and spirited elven woman, fighting alongside your people. You were as competent as anyone on the battlefield, but it so happened that you became trapped, surrounded by enemies, with no way out. Elrond jumped into action and moved swiftly to get to you without even pausing for a second. His blades cut through your foes before they could strike you down. Once they were all dead, he took a glance at you, trying to check if you were hurt but before he could proceed, an awful strike hit Elrond. He stumbled back, clutching his side, his face twisted in pain. The sight of his injury sent a shiver of terror through you.
"Baw (No)!" you yelled as you circled around Elrond to slay the orc. Your opponent died because he couldn't get his sword out of the elf's body in time.
Even though you wished to help Elrond, you were unable to do so since your foes spotted the opportunity and approached him. He fought bravely despite having a serious wound, albeit his posture wasn't as steady as before. You held your ground and defeated as many orcs as you could before the enemy decided to retreat.
When it was safe to do so, Elrond fell to his knees and groaned in pain. You rushed to his side and helped him to find a comfortable position. Shouts could be heard from afar, but you couldn't quite make out what they were saying.
"Everything will be fine." with great effort, Elrond reassured you, his voice strained but filled with determination. "Mae carnen. (You did well)."
You tried saying something, but words simply didn't come out of your mouth. Some fellow elves came to their Lord's aid as you stumbled back to give them space. It only dawned on you just now that if you hadn't found yourself in this situation, Elrond wouldn't have been injured. Everything after the battle happened so fast, the elven Lord got safely brought back to Rivendell, where the healer's immediately began to work, while the rest of the elves slowly traveled back.
It didn't feel real to be traveling back to your home. It was almost as if you were seeing with your eyes but your head was blank. Seeing Elrond on the ground had left your face pale. Everything that had happened felt too familiar. It seemed like the day's happenings were right out of your nightmares—the nightmares about losing your beloved spouse. You started crying as you thought back to that terrible day. After they passed away, Elrond was the one who helped you recover because he knew how painful it was to lose a loved one—possibly the most precious of them all. Elrond was the one who took the time to help you heal by lending you his wisdom.
Your sobbing became more intense with each thought. You had come to a realisation as you reflected on the time you spent together, the comfort his presence provided you, and the coldness the separation brought you. You suddenly realized what you had been experiencing while around him. It was love. You considered yourself dumb for only realizing that at the last second, just as you might lose him. And you were genuinely horrified by that.
Tumblr media
Weeks passed as Elrond received treatment for his wounds in the security of Rivendell. When you learned of his recovery, you felt both relief and anxiety at the same time. Overwhelmed by the weight of your emotions, you withdrew, avoiding Elrond's presence, afraid of what your feelings meant and the vulnerability that accompanied it. But, Elrond being Elrond, you knew he had noticed it. Since you two were close, visiting him while he was recovering would have made sense. And yet, since the battle, he had not seen you. You ached to be by his side, to console and comfort him, but you were unable to.
As Elrond slowly regained his strength, he sought out your presence. Every time Lindir came by to let you know that Lord Elrond had asked for your presence in the gardens, you would come up with an excuse not to go. You avoided him at every turn, anxiously waiting for him to pass through the corridor. You could see how his gaze searched for you in the halls, but you were nowhere to be found. Elrond became very concerned and yearned to know why you had been avoiding him. It was unlike you to act like this.
Determined to understand the cause of your withdrawal, he sought you out, finding you in the quiet solace of Rivendell's library. You had been reading a book, trying to take your mind off of the elven Lord. That was until a gentle tap on your shoulder turned your attention away from the book. Your stomach dropped as you realised who had disturbed you. He took a seat beside you, without asking you first.
"What are you reading, exactly?" Elrond asked with curiosity.
Suddenly forgetting what you were reading, you looked down to view the cover. "Oh, I just grabbed something off the shelves." You tried to avoid making eye contact as you shook your head.
Elrond grew silent, noticing how even now, you tried to run away from him. It broke his heart that you grew to resent him so. If he had to be honest, Elrond fell for you a long time ago. He never really showed it but he longed for someone who could understand his pain. And then you appeared at his doorstep, asking for support after the death of your spouse. At first he just looked at you as a friend, but those feelings soon grew. If you hadn't expressed your disinterest in dating, he would've said something sooner. But being the gentleman that he is, he respected your bounderies and tried to move on. The problem was that he couldn't.
"Please, mellon nîn (my friend)," he began softly, his voice carrying a mix of concern and vulnerability, "help me understand. Why do you avoid me so? What has come between our friendship?"
Those words stung. You sighed, unable to give him a straight up answer. But you knew Elrond valued honesty so you gathered all your strenght and looked him in the eyes. "I cannot express it, Elrond, for I fear if I do, history will repeat itself."
Elrond looked deep in thought, carefully deciding his next sentence. "I'm not quite sure I follow." he admitted.
You looked away, trying to hide your pained expression. "The battlefield, brannon nîn (my lord). It was my fault."
"It hardly was." he shook his head, slowly sliding closer to you. When you had not moved away, he reached out to grab your hand.
"You nearly lost your life, Elrond!" you yelled. "If that blade was aimed just a bit higher, you would've dropped dead! And it would've been because of me! Because I was incompetent enough, to let myself get trapped!"
"Please, do not think of yourself this way." his pained voice could be barely heard. Elrond's eyes widened in shock at what you were saying. He in no way had blamed you for his injury. "Any of us could've been in your situation. You fought well, you came to my aid when I needed it. Why do you put yourself down?"
"I just..." you sighed. "I can't lose you too, Elrond."
His grip on your hands became firmer. "Is this the reason for your withdrawal?"
You hesitated for a second, then nodded. Although it was difficult, there was a part of you that wanted him to be aware of your worries. No matter how hard you tried to turn it off, that self-indulgent part of you wanted to be comforted by him. "My feelings, they terrify me. It's as if acknowledging them would make my fears come true. After I lost... them, I didn't want to put myself through the pain of loving someone but on the battlefield I had realised that I had already broken that promise. You matter so much to me that I cannot even express it with words. I have fallen in love with you, Elrond. And it scared me."
Elrond took each of your words in carefully. He pondered on them for some time before giving you a nod. Elrond's gaze softened as his hand reached out to gently cup your face. "I understand your fear. Loss leaves deep scars upon our hearts. But shutting ourselves off from love only denies us the chance to heal. I, too, have felt the sting of loss, the ache of a heart once broken. Yet, here we stand, with an opportunity to experience something quite beautiful together."
His words shocked you. "You feel the same way?"
"Chin gelair chîn orthernir guren (Your radiant eyes conquered my heart)." Elrond smiled at you.
Finally, when he whispered those words, you felt the warmth of his presence spread throughout your body. Elrond welcomed your hug as you threw yourself into his arms. Although your worries have not vanished, it helped a lot to know that someone was by your side.

Hi !!! First I wanna say that I love the aesthetic of ur account it’s so pretty and nicely put together I’m obsessed. Second, I was wondering if I could request something for a Legolas x half elf reader where the reader is very like, unladylike, and doesn’t follow elven traditions ?? Like she’s very brash, flirts with lots of people, drinks a lot, doesn’t really have any of that elegance or poise that he’s used to when it comes to eleven girls and is a extremely good fighter. She’s a trusted friend of Gandalf and he brings her to the council of Elrond and she joins the fellowship and all dat.
Ok I’m done sorry if that’s too detailed feel free to not write it if you don’t want to, don’t want you to feel pressured to jus cause I asked 😅
i think you are beautiful

Legolas hadn't expected to see you at Elrond's secret meeting.
He didn't even know you knew Gandalf. Well, he didn't know much about you at all really. Of course, Legolas has seen you before, with the adventures he went on with Aragorn and what not, he was hardly ever seen around Lothlórien, and he was sure you were too.
But when you entered the circle of middle-earth creatures with your eccentric aura and manly stance, he thought of you intriguing.
"Another bloody elf?!" Gimli explained in disgust.
Legolas turned to the dwarf seated beside him, opening his mouth ready to throw a remark back when you interrupted.
"Well you are in the Rivendell, dwarf. If you are willing to help with the destruction of the ring, you must watch your tongue, before I cut it out." You threw him a smirk, and watched as Gimli shrunk back in his seat.
"Y/n! I've been expecting you for quite some time." Gandalf made his way over and enveloped you into a hug, which you reciprocated.
"You did show up in the middle of nowhere when I was trying to fish, you owe me a pint, don't forget."
You patted his back and made you way over to an empty chair, which was ironically beside Legolas.
"Oreyt there Legolas?" You patted his shoulder and look towards Elrond. "Let's get on with it then!"
Tumblr media
It had been about a week since you and the fellowship had attended Elrond's secret council meeting, and since then, you hadn't really bonded with anyone like everyone else had, though you thoroughly enjoyed flirting.
You knew Aragorn already had his heart set on Arwen, Gimli couldn't stand you (you found it funny to rile him up).
Legolas was your favourite to tease.
He wasn't used to your heavy drinking, swordsmanship, the way your eyes glistened in the moonlight...
You weren't at all what he had thought.
You had a kind heart. And your beauty went beyond those of the other elven women.
And Gimli made sure to point out that you were different.
"Are you sure you're not a man?"
You turned around to look at him, holding back a frown.
"Wait, you're not a man?" Pippin chimed in, finally causing the frown to appear and you started to walk ahead of Gandalf. "Did I say something wrong?"
Tumblr media
Nearly an hour later, you all had found a place to rest, yet you didn't talk throughout the whole way through.
Legolas and Aragorn were relieving themselves of their weapons when Legolas peered over at you who stood in the far corner away from everyone else, but near enough for you to hear him insult Gimli.
"I norn na- an imbecile." He placed his arrows next to his bow and Aragorn turned to look at him.
"Whui ceri- cin eithad Gimli? Does ha gar- something na ceri- with ui/n?" Aragorn questioned him.
"-o iór ha does! How berth- ho ask hen such a nad! At least with ammen galadrim mín know what mín are!"
Gimli looked up at Boromir who wasn't paying any mind to the rather loud conversation they were having.
"What are the elf and the man speaking about?"
Boromir just shrugged. "I don't know, I don't speak Sindarin.
You, having understood their conversation, smiled a little to yourself, happy that at least someone here would defend you.
Tumblr media
You sat quietly beside a lake, inspecting the flora surrounding you, when you heard footsteps.
You swung your body round, placing your hand on the blade strapped to your leg.
The sound revealed itself to be Legolas. "There you are, Gandalf sent me to make sure you weren't missing."
You nodded and motioned him to sit next to you.
"You were being rather loud with Aragorn earlier." You chuckled as you watched a red tint spread across Legolas' cheeks. "Thank you."
Legolas nodded in acknowledgment and he was about to stand up when you grabbed ahold of his hand.
Your hand was rough, no doubt from the countless weapons you have wielded or practised with.
"Legolas, do you think I'm pretty?"
He was taken aback by your sudden question.
Since you were little you had struggled with femininity. Your hobbies were 'un-ladylike', your looks were considered to be 'manly'.
The silence was too loud, too long. So you took that as a no.
"I think you are beautiful. And I think you're too good for anyone here." He sat back down next to you. "Not only are your combat skills exceptional, but the way you carry yourself outshines any of the elvish women. They can't compete."
You moved closer, until your pinky was touching his.
"I may not know you that well, I've hardly ever seen you around Rivendell or any of the elven parts for that matter, and quite frankly, I couldn't care less if you were half elf, or half dwarf, or half whatever. I've still admired you from afar-"
You shut him up with a quick kiss to his lips.
Aragorn watched further away from the bushes, shaking his head with a grin, then going to tell Gandalf that you were safe.
"Im like cin verui limb legolas, a im gar- admired cin o palan too."

F I V E
(a/n: right after the mines of moria)
“I think even your father back in Mirkwood can hear how you are breathing right now, my friend,” [Y/N] stated, attempting in vain to lighten the mood. She wasn’t even sure what she thought or felt at the moment, but she was utterly terrified. After all, they had just encountered an ancient demon that she and Legolas had only heard about in stories, and then they lost potentially the strongest member of the Fellowship. To put it mildly... things didn’t seem to be going swimmingly.
“I am just unsure how to...process all of this at the moment,” Legolas muttered, his breathing just a bit faster than usual, but [Y/N]’s ears picked up on it effortlessly. “I never thought it would be so real.”
“Neither did I,” the girl confessed, carefully approaching the blond elf. “But here we are now. Maybe we shouldn’t have wished for a great adventure when we were merely children,” she attempted to make Legolas at least smile a little bit, but he seemed to be still absolutely overwhelmed by all the recent events. How does an immortal being process sudden death anyway?
“Perhaps you should consider getting some rest? Do you think you could maybe sleep for a little bit, now when we make camp?” [Y/N] suggested in a very concerned voice, not used to Legolas being in such a mood, but it was more than understandable. Quite frankly, she herself wasn’t sure how she was holding it together.
“There’s no need,” Legolas’ eyes finally met hers, only to see the same distress and fear in her own eyes, “you know I need very little sleep anyway.”
“Yes, I do know that we do not require sleep in the same way that humans do, but after all of this, I really think it would do you good to get some rest, Legolas,” the girl persisted. “I will be right here and nothing will happen,” [Y/N] went on with a gentle hand rested atop his shoulder. Her expressive eyes burned into his. He could never say no to that look.
“I suppose we could stand guard later in the night, when the others grow too tired,” Legolas exhaled, at last giving in to his friend’s concerns. In that moment, he wished it was just the two of them somewhere far away, and alone together, so he could just melt into her arms. And not be beside himself with fear, especially the fear of something indescribable happening to [Y/N].
“That sounds alright to me,” [Y/N] nodded, a small smile almost creeping up onto her face. He said we, she thought, giddy like a child. It wasn’t anymore “you and I,” it was the two of them together. She couldn’t describe how and why it made her feel all sorts of things, but there was something about it.
The girl led him to where she had intended to sit down for a short while and plopped down on the ground. Legolas followed wordlessly, resting his head on her lap and sprawling out across the grass. He suddenly became aware of the immense tiredness weighing down on him as he let out a long sigh. Although he was lying down on the ground, he felt like he had never been more comfortable; among the impending disasters, a moment of serenity. Of comfort and warmth. Of home. [Y/N] brushed her slender fingers through his hair slowly and soothingly, and Legolas enveloped her other hand in his as he allowed himself to close his eyes and drift off.
[Y/N]’s heart fluttered, but she kept her breathing calm for Legolas’ sake - after all, he could hear even the smallest of sounds perfectly. She draped her cape over his shoulders - he probably wouldn’t get cold anyway but... just in case.
The blond’s breaths became even and calm quite soon as the girl kept absentmindedly raking her fingers through his hair. For just a moment, she allowed herself to feel. Everything around them was terrifying, life-threatening, unpredictable. They had lost Gandalf already, who knew what else was coming? Her mind was racing, but Legolas slightly moved and she came back to reality. His brows were furrowed in his sleep, and she ran a gentle hand across his cheek.
“Sleep, my star. sleep. you’re safe,” she muttered in elvish, as if they were back home. She couldn’t help but wonder what would it be like to fall asleep so close together, time after time, away from life-threatening situations and what felt like the world’s ending. But now everything was too risky and too dangerous to allow love to come into play as well. They were risking so much already - it wouldn’t be wise to put their hearts on the line as well. What good would it do to confess to any feelings, when there was a high chance of something tragic happening to her during the quest (along with everyone else involved), and then she would just leave Legolas hurting? He had lost his mother already, [Y/N] had lost hers too – it was better to put love aside and focus on surviving. And stay as close as possible to Legolas at all times, treasuring the time they can share, if nothing else.
Best she could do for now was hope for a good outcome of the quest, and then afterwards to, potentially, handle the matters of the heart.

(a/n: not any specific event, just sometime during the quest)
“My lady” [Y/N] heard a hesitant little voice appear from somewhere between the trees. She was sitting down, stitching up a part of her tunic that got slashed through during the last orc encounter. The rest of the fellowship were who knows where. Hopefully safe.
“Yes, Pippin?” she smiled warmly at the hobbit as he made his way to her, clutching something behind his back. “Strange seeing you without Merry anywhere in sight.” Pippin let out a breathy laugh.
“I was actually hoping to talk to you, my lady,” he confessed, looking down at the ground and then back at the elven lady.
“Of course. And there is no need for formal titles, I am just me,” she smiled reassuringly.
“Sorry,” he muttered, almost blushing. In a millisecond, he offered her a bunch of forest flowers that he had been hiding behind his back – he’d spent all morning finding the most beautiful ones. “These are for you.”
“Oh, my goodness! They are beautiful, Pippin! thank you so much!” [Y/N] gasped out in surprise, gathering the flowers in her hands.  “That is very nice of you, I shall not ever forget it.”
“I’m happy you like them,” Pippin smiled bashfully. “And actually, I was going to say that, lad-, [Y/n], I have taken a liking to you and, well, I just wanted to let you know. In case something goes terribly wrong – I’m not saying that it will, but-”
“Pippin,” [Y/N] spoke softly, laying a hand on the hobbit’s shoulder, “I greatly appreciate your honesty and I applaud your courage, and you are wonderful, but unfortunately I am already courting someone else,” she stated sympathetically. Leaves rustled in the background as Pippin offered her a sad smile.
“I… didn’t know that, my lady,” he stood as tall as he could to hide his disappointment, “But thank you for the kind words.”
“Thank you for the flowers, once again,” [Y/N] replied and pulled the little hobbit into a brief hug, so as to console him at least a little bit.
“If anything happens to your mystery lover,” Pippin began after letting go of the hug, “you know where to find me!” He gave her a silly wink and he was off, leaving [Y/N] equally amused and confused by the situation. Hobbits, she muttered to herself.
“You are eavesdropping,” she claimed in a sing-song voice in the direction of rustling leaves. Indeed she was right, a moment after, Legolas emerged from that part of the forest.
“I was merely looking out, you were quite unguarded,” Legolas murmured, hiding his awkwardness with a small cough.
“I was not alone. And even if I was, you know better than anyone that I am able to defend myself.”
“I am aware of that, but I am also always happy to assist you.” Legolas seemed crestfallen as he sat down next to the girl. He was feeling as though the sharpest arrow had pierced through his heart – his closest friend had given her heart to another lucky person. Immensely lucky person.
“You are… “ he began hesitantly, “you are courting someone? I was unaware of that.” He looked down at the ground, too saddened to look up and meet [Y/N]’s eyes.
“What? No!” she laughed after a small shock. “Firstly, you know I would share any important information, such as that, with you. Secondly, I spend the most of my time in your company anyway – how would I have the time to entertain another?” She lifted up his chin with her index finger gently and graced him with a fond smile. She knew him well enough to recognize the sadness in his eyes instantaneously. “And third, I had not the heart to tell Pippin that elves and hobbits could never possibly be happy together. I wished not to completely crush his hopes. Admittedly, he showed extraordinary courage just coming up to me and telling me all that.”
“Of course. It was foolish of me to think otherwise,” Legolas retorted, his skin almost burning in the place where [Y/N]’s fingers had been a moment earlier. He tried to conceal a relieved smile, but he was certain that she could see straight through him.
“Nothing to worry about,” she mused as she returned to her stitching of the tunic. There was something in the air, she half-expected Legolas to continue speaking, but then… nothing.
The blond was feeling immense relief, but something prevented him from confessing to any feelings at all. It was clear as a day, it had been, for a while, that he was completely and utterly in love with [Y/N]. But in the face of dangers, of battles and the threats they were facing on the daily… he couldn’t bring himself to risk their hearts as well. If something happened to him – he couldn’t stand the thought of leaving [Y/N] hurting. If something happened to her, he had no idea how he would carry on. For the time being, maybe it was best to not burden her with his desires of the heart, and then break hers when something terrible inevitably happens. For now, he decided, he will do everything in his power to protect her and stay close to her, and then, someday, when the quest is finished, converse about the feelings that had been sitting on his chest for hundreds of years.
He fell silent and fished around one of the pockets of his tunic until he gripped an all-too-well known item: the rock that [Y/N] had given him hundreds and hundreds of years ago, on the day they first practiced archery together. It was like a token of reassurance and, hopefully, good luck – she was there. She was fine. She will be there for many more years to come.

S E V E N
(a/n: after the battle of minas tirith)
In [Y/N]’s humble opinion, the battle at Minas Tirith was the ultimate craziest thing she had ever done. She couldn’t even wrap her head around the fear that consumed her, the dangers all around her, the amount of weapons that were swung around and the number of fired arrows. The horrible weather wasn’t helping either, but as the battle started to die down, in favor of the side she was fighting on, surprisingly… she realized she couldn’t see Legolas anywhere. And generally he was quite easy to spot, and she had great eyesight after all. Maybe it was the fear blocking her senses, her heart increasingly pounding in her ears. The girl frantically looked around, standing on her tiptoes for added height, as she turned her head left and right searching for a head full of platinum blond hair. Nowhere to be seen.
I should have told him, I should have told him, I should have told him that I loved him, she scolded herself relentlessly as she searched around one of her pockets for a broken little arrow shaft. She let out a little exhale as she gripped the familiar artifact, one that she had saved hundreds of years ago, for then-unknown reasons, when the prince had first showed her how to shoot a bow. Twirling it between her fingers, [Y/N] allowed her aching legs to take her around the chaotic battlefield in search for the elf whom she held deeply in her heart. He cannot be gone… right? His skills are almost unparalleled, he’s fast and agile with unbelievable reflexes – he couldn’t have been fatally injured… or worse? The elf swallowed thickly, looking up into the ominously dark sky, praying desperately to any and every heavenly being there was. With unshed tears in her fiery eyes, she marched on towards the stronghold, hoping to at least spot some familiar faces that could direct her to wherever Legolas was. If he still was. She almost winced at the thought, but bit her lip and went on.
The kill-count that Legolas had going on with Gimli was all but forgotten as he took off running to the highest vantage point he could find, hoping to spot [Y/N] somewhere. Firstly, he couldn’t believe that the two of them had separated on the battlefield to being with, and secondly, he scolded himself a little bit for it. He skipped multiple stone steps at a time, no matter how slippery they were and how many people he had to expertly avoid – his heart was racing and [Y/N] was the only thing on his mind. She couldn’t have been terribly injured, or anything like that; she was an incredible fighter and the two of them had trained together all their lives, pushing one another to their limits. Oh, what he would give to have her safe in Rivendell right in that moment, away from death and destruction. No matter how big of a crowd, Legolas always succeeded in finding the elven girl rather quickly – she was the one who always drew his sharp gaze to herself without even trying – but this time there seemed to be an exception. She seemed nowhere to be found.
Too many things were happening at once and Legolas just wanted to shut his eyes and find himself in [Y/N]’s warm embrace, yet again, breathe her in and finally confess to her every deepest desire of his heart. Every single magical thing he had been feeling towards her for who knows how many years. He had to stop trying to interpret her actions and words for him, stop trying to discern whether they were romantic or not, just seize the moment, and be outright. After all that had happened during the quest, he stopped thinking of love and war as equally dangerous. There was uncertainty in both, chance of getting hurt, but war wasn’t home. [Y/N] was home. Love was home. Love was [Y/N].
Having found a high enough spot to look over the battlefield from, Legolas’ eyes started searching around frantically, and his heart almost stopped dead when he noticed that one girl slowly but surely making her way through a sea of soldiers. He took a shuddering breath and called out her name as clearly as possible, and a couple times just in case. She stopped in her tracks and looked around, searching for the source of the sound as she clutched the tunic over her chest. It was unmistakably Legolas’ voice, and she thought her heart would jump out of her chest as she noticed him standing up on a half-ruined stone staircase. She didn’t know whether her relief or her joy were larger, but it didn’t matter much anyway – she just wanted to get to him as soon as possible. Pushing through people, dead orcs on the ground, mud, discarded weapons, she got nearer to the bottom of the broken staircase just as Legolas had basically jumped down as fast as possible. In the blink of an eye, [Y/N] was holding tightly onto him trying to steady her breathing and her hands wandered over his back, arms, neck, hair, anything she could feel to assuage herself that Legolas was still very much alive and well.
He gripped her into the world’s tightest embrace, feeling like an enormous weight had been lifted off of his chest.
“I thought, I-“ she staggered out, having pulled away to slightly to look up at his face. “I thought I might never see you again,” she croaked out, voice breaking at the end of the sentence as some tears were set free from her eyes. Legolas wiped them away softly with his fingers and gently slid them down the girl’s cheek. His eyes burned into hers.
“I am here, my flower. Alive and well,” he gave her the warmest of smiles, “and I am most pleased to see that you are, as well.” The blond almost laughed out of sheer joy and relief. Only [Y/N] could notice a tiny tear or two hiding in the corners of his eyes. In order to stop herself from fully breaking into tears completely, she put a hand over her mouth and instantaneously Legolas pulled her into another bone-crushing hug. His strong arms were securely wrapped around her waist and steadying her shivering body, and Legolas, searching for some comfort and reassurance himself, buried his face in the crook of her neck. It was utterly unimportant that both of them were rain-soaked, ashy and dirty; he pressed his face into her soft skin, heartbeats finally evening out, even thumping in sync, after all the stress they had went through. There, on blood and rain-soaked ground, moments after one of the most terrifying events of both their lives, Legolas managed to finally muster up the courage to leave a warm, gentle kiss somewhere above [Y/N]’s elegant collarbone, as a small affectionate token of what he hoped was to come, a brand new chapter in their story. Love before war, love during the war, love after the war.
Naturally, he would have to eventually state his feelings clearly, but for now… this was the very first step.

“listlessness.”
Tumblr media
 Elrond x Reader
words: 2170
google docs pages: 4
warnings: Hurt with no comfort, death, griefing
opening: After your passing, Elrond tries to shake off the memories of you in every room of his house. Though, this task proves to be harder than he could have ever imagined.
AN// Reader can be any gender. I haven’t written a good old angst in a while, and I feel like this had to be done because of that. Went full on out with this, angst with absolutely no comfort :”D I used lyrics from this beautiful -> song
           “listlessness.”
You’d fallen ill one day, and as much as you kept telling Elrond that you’d be fine, he kept fussing over you. Neither of you could figure out what was wrong, and your condition kept getting worse by the time wasted with no answers on how to help. Even when you had become bedridden, you kept telling the Lord of Rivendell that you’d bounce back up eventually, that if he just calmed down for a moment, things would get better. That of course never changed anything, his care for you combined with the mind of a healer didn’t allow him to get almost any rest at all as he fussed over you. It hurt to watch him be so worried, ignoring some of his duties while trying his best to find answers, to find a cure.
At some point guests and other elves had started to notice the way he had changed. You told him this, told him that people would find out about the secret the two of you had kept so well hidden for so long. You’d been courting him, silently and out of the picture since neither of you wanted to reveal it so suddenly, but took your time with it instead. Elrond’s children had their suspicions, but they kept it to themselves, having respect for their father and his relationships. But it was the guests and Elrond’s assistants and such that worried you, even when the mystery illness was bringing you down along with it. He heard your concerns, and as much as he worried about others finding out before it was the right time for it, he did not care. No secret he could have thought of was so important, as to surpass your wellbeing. That was of the utmost importance to him, had always been.
Time had started to pass in a weird pattern for you, sleeping had become such an important part of your day that it had begun to feel like it was the only thing you were able to do. Sometimes when you woke up, Elrond was there. He’d talk to you for as long as you were able to talk. Sometimes you tried to stay awake past your limits, but in those cases Elrond would stop the conversations. He was not stupid, and as much as he loved spending time with you, he was not going to allow you to harm yourself by talking to him. He would assure you that he’d be right back whenever you woke up again, leaving you to sleep.
This lasted for some time, Elrond visiting you while working and trying to find a cure. But internally the both of you knew that you didn’t have much time left. And if the cure didn’t magically appear, you wouldn’t make it for much longer. Either way it hurt Elrond to watch you suffer through every day, fighting with the small amounts of energy that you still had within you. You’d always been so strong. So in a way, he was glad. Glad, when he had entered the all too familiar room from the past months where he found you unresponsive. He silenced the spikes of grief in that moment with the thought of it being selfish. Selfish to miss you so, when he knew it was better this way if it had been him who had failed to find the cure. You could now rest at ease.
Maybe it was the whole of Rivendell, or perhaps it was just him. But everything felt silent, a colourless silence that had overtook the whole building, a feeling that followed the Lord of Rivendell wherever he went. Elrond continued to complete his duties as he had before, with the same care. But out of all the burdens that he had been through within his whole long life, this one’s weight was heavy. Heavier than he could have ever imagined. He had told himself in the past that he understood that you were a human, that you’d live a life that would pass fastly in his eyes. That if he was going to go further, to court you, he’d have to come to terms with that. And that was something you had asked for him to understand as well, knowing how important he was to Rivendell. But you had not lived the long life he had wished for you to have, the life that you had deserved to live. It’d been cut short, way too short.
There is still an empty shelf in the closet for your belongings
Time passed, just as it had when you’d still been there with him. And time would keep passing by, no matter how much he wished for it to stop. Stop, just for a moment to give him time to think. To give him a moment to sit down and process. That was what his inner mind craved for, but what he did instead was continue life. He tried to block off the feeling, keeping himself busy and keeping the thought in his mind that it would have been selfish for him to feel the way he wished he could. Would have you wanted for him to cry after you, to seem clingy for something that wasn’t there anymore?
But his attempts at that were most of the time useless. Every time he was left alone, with no duties to go complete, the thoughts and memories came back. You’d been with him every day, in the same house with him for so long. He hadn’t had the heart to throw away your belongings yet, he did not wish to touch them. They felt pure in a way as they were, the last person who had been in contact with them being you. Though he knew he should put them away. If not throw away then perhaps store them somewhere close to him. Maybe that seemed silly, foolish of him even.
He should have by now been used to loss. He’d seen many failed attempts with healing others, and this should have been just like that. But that was again what he kept telling himself.
One day he took it upon himself to empty the shelves in your shared quarters. He did end up saving the items, storing them away for he did not have the heart to get rid of them. The grief he hadn’t let wash over him was making him do it, whether he liked it or not. And Elrond let it. He had thought of asking for someone else to do it for him, but that felt wrong as well. He wanted to heal himself in a way, but that was not something he was used to. So he believed that doing this may have been the help he needed.
and space for you on the bed, still waiting
But that was not the only thing he wasn’t used to. With the countless memories he had with you in the house, in all of the rooms there was one that reminded him of you the most. Mornings and nights that used to be a comfort for him before entering another hectic day had now turned into something he wished he could avoid. The now half empty bed he had shared with you, the place that had taken you ages to get used to sharing even when Elrond had told you countless times that it was okay. That place was now strange without you there. Even giving it a look, not daring to lay down brought a nowadays familiar feeling to him. The burn that started from the back of his throat and then moved up to the back of his eyes and soon brought up tears, which he shook off every time.
waiting for you to silently press your head on my chest, when you can’t sleep
As many times as he tried, the tears always welled back up. Shaking them away never helped, and Elrond knew that. He had tried it multiple times, at the start- and at the end of every day since you had left and never did it work. But nevertheless he needed sleep. He could work as much as he wanted and try to ignore his emotions, but at some point he needed to stop and get some rest. It humoured Elrond to hear himself tell the patients he took care of to get some rest. That they’d feel better after that when he himself hadn’t slept in an unforgivable time. Elrond wasn’t one to self neglect, but the loss he was feeling was too much to bear in his sleep. He could go for a good long while before he felt the need to get any rest, but alas it still caught up to him.
So he still laid down, still tried to take care of himself. He did it because he knew that’s something you would have wanted him to do even if you weren’t there anymore. That was one of the rare thoughts that gave him peace of mind. Everything that used to be familiar and comforting on the bed was now gone.
Due to him not having to sleep as much as a human, he had never been a heavy sleeper. He woke up easily, which had never bothered him. Most of the time he’d simply been there for you, and enjoyed stirring awake to you cuddling up closer. It gave him a reason to not get up until you’d wake up again, a reason for his mind to stop thinking about all the duties he had to fulfil. He was occupied.
I’m missing you here, every day so much
Elrond knew people eventually started to notice his change, and if someone dared to ask him if he was alright, he insisted. Insisted that he would be fine, and that this was going to pass so there was no need to worry. At some point he even believed it himself. In his long lifetime he had seen and experienced so much, and he had learned to put his trust on time. As it passed, he had always begun to feel better as he moved on. Though, this sadness felt different, still just as heavy as before.
Elrond still kept on doing the routines he had followed before all this. He dined with his family, sometimes even had guests over to eat with him. Of course, word got around and at some point the people he had over also knew of what had happened. Not only did they know of your passing, but they had started to wonder why he cared so deeply about one mortal from all of the people Elrond had taken care of in his life. Of course at some point it started to be clear to them that he must have been courting you, but since neither of you hadn’t had the time to reveal it officially, none of his guests asked him about it. In this way, showing their respect for the man.
I’ll keep putting out a plate for you, even if you never came again
The chefs had stopped putting out a plate for you soon after your passing had been announced, though Elrond had not come to that realisation for a long time after. He used to have supper with you, alone. He’d made time for that every day, because he enjoyed the company you provided when there was no one else around. Sometimes the shared dinners became a little hectic, and as much as he did not mind it at all, he held it close to his heart whenever he saw you arrive at the shared table for supper.
So each time for supper he had found himself at that same table, putting out a plate for you. The first time he felt his heart ache, pull in different directions as he took a deep breath and collected the utensils away. By now, whenever he found himself repeating the same action he didn’t remove the plates. Maybe somewhere in his mind he was wishing you’d arrive back at some point, as foolish as that thought may have been.
I’m missing you here, every day so much
After all this time, after all his duties, he always found himself leaving his study and making his way outside. The house and all the rooms within it felt less homely than they ever had before. So his mind made him wander back into the gardens, where he sometimes sat for hours. A place where he could be alone, where he didn’t used to be alone. But even without your physical presence there, it somehow didn't feel as pressuring as the air in the house. The usually calm sigh he used to calm himself was shaky today. From stress and piled up grief. When the first tear rolled down his cheek, the warmth within him in that moment felt like it started to return the colours around him. Slowly, but they started to come back.
AN// I felt like I made this a little longer than necessary, but hopefully no one minds. Either way I feel like we need some more Elrond content here !
