✨ BOOK REVIEW ✨
One Night in Hartswood by Emma Denny
⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
[instagram]
This was a really sweet romance set in the 1300s which isn’t an era I read often at all, so it was fun to mix things up a little in that regard.
I found the plot a little lacking? It’s a cosy little road trip story but next to nothing happens for most of the book which was a little underwhelming.
Raff and Penn are both characters who are easy to love. They both just want a simple life, to enjoy simple pleasures and some time to themselves. But where Raff is surrounded by love, Penn doesn’t have much love in his life at all.
Penn’s story honestly broke my heart. His father is the absolute worst and I wished he’d faced more on-page consequences in all honesty. It wasn’t nearly satisfying enough just to see him have to concede and lose favour.
I adored Raff’s family, too, and I definitely need to pick up Jo and Lily’s story ASAP!

Raff huffed. ‘I love peace. The only place to find it is in the wilderness when I’m forced to travel beside you for days on end.’
‘You wound me, brother.’
‘Don’t tempt me to make it fatal, brother.’
