AMAR are saving the lives of future generations. Will you help?
Tumblr media
If you work in healthcare, then you'll want to read this! People talk about conflict and displacement, reconstruction and development but how often do we hear them talk about the right to give birth in a safe environment?
Life-altering moments like conflict is stressful for women and their partners, and this can trigger a period of poor mental health or lead to a worsening of existing mental health conditions. This is why providing care for women and their babies is vital to the greater well-being of society.
Fleeing a conflict is traumatic but having to escape whilst carrying an unborn child adds further stress to this. Almost one in five women will experience a mental health condition during pregnancy or in the year after giving birth, the UN's health agency said last year.
The AMAR International Charitable Foundation assists mothers and children as the most underserved group of all displaced people. AMAR provides specialised care for the under-fives and ensures that all of its healthcare projects target pregnant women, mothers and children.
AMAR’s Primary Healthcare Centre's also have designated mother and child doctors, to allow female patients the comfort of speaking with a doctor of the same sex, where women can be open to discuss issues like puberty, reproduction and childcare.
In locations where women face isolation, AMAR’s mobile health clinics travel to those area's and delivers primary health care services. These clinics visit communities on a regular basis and provide check-ups, vaccinations, food supplements and support, if further treatment is required.
The AMAR Foundation was founded in 1991 by Baroness Emma Nicholson. Since then, AMAR has earned itself a solid reputation in the provision of healthcare services to people experiencing displacement as a consequence of war.

So, not only is JK Rowling a Holocaust denier, but her pseudonym, Robert Galbraith, was after the psychiatrist who tried to "cure" homosexuality.
And she supports Emma Nicholson, a Tory who wanted to ban lesbians from marrying and adopting children.
She also pals around with CitizenGo, an anti-LGBTQ (not just anti-TQ) and anti-abortion organization.
And her other little buddy, Posie Parker, openly opposes lesbian adoptions, as well!
🤍💚💜Terf lesbians are winningggggg! 🤍💚💜

Help hit a high note for AMAR this Christmas
Tumblr media
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is caused by highly stressful, frightening or distressing events. Someone with PTSD often relives the traumatic event through nightmares and flashbacks, and may experience feelings of isolation, irritability and guilt.
A person may also have problems sleeping and find concentrating difficult. These symptoms are often severe and persistent enough to have a significant impact on the person's day-to-day life. PTSD can develop immediately after a traumatic event, or it can occur weeks, months or even years later.
The psychological and emotional scars of war in Iraq are immense, with thousands of people needing mental health assistance. Among those in desperate need of care, are people suffering PTSD, depression, schizophrenia and severe anxiety.
In 2014, thousands of children from religious minorities in northern Iraq were captured by ISIS. Since the military defeat of the group, some of these children have returned. They have been left traumatized by their experiences but face a host of challenges in accessing effective treatment and rehabilitation.
The psychological well-being of men, women and children across Iraq is our concern. This is why Iraq Solidarity News (Al-Thawra) supports the AMAR Foundation's Yazidi Choir Christmas Appeal. We also welcome the opportunity to talk about our support for AMAR's work providing mental health care in Iraq, which can be equally debilitating as any other injury, if left untreated.

five scenes from the harry potter books that altered my brain chemistry (re this ask)
Tumblr media
SCREAM.... HERMIONE GRANGER YOU WILL LITERALLY ALWAYS BE FAMOUS!!!!
[power gap] [power gap] [power gap]
Hermione punching Draco in Book 3. Not the moment in particular, which is beautiful and well-earned, but specifically the fact that he doesn't say shit to her for the rest of the series. Hilarious. Incredible. He goes from mocking her every chance he gets to just like, occasionally snickering when something happens to her, or going after Harry or Ron (while ignoring Hermione altogether). And what's more, he doesn't retaliate. Draco "my father will hear about this" Malfoy doesn't tell anyone that he got smacked (and we know he's not too proud for it; he whines forever about Buckbeak). But nope, not Hermione. He's literally just like "holy fuck, never mind, point taken." You ever punch someone so hard they spontaneously manifest the ability to mind their own goddamn business?
Draco's bathroom scene in Book 6 — it's a humanizing moment for someone on the other side of the conflict, and it hammers home how young he is, how young they both are, despite the fact that they're becoming principal players in the war. It also shows how he's trapped by his family, which is a choice that he's made, but also something that he can't easily throw off —this is the scene that spawned a million "the boy who had no choice" edits, which I disagree with from a factual point of view, but I appreciate the elegance of it as a thematic counterpoint to Harry (who is, you know, if anybody, actually the boy who had no choice).
Hermione's Yule Ball Cinderella moment, which is so beautifully done and treats my girl so well, but also specifically the fact that Draco Malfoy canonically thinks she's beautiful. It's a great moment for the whole fandom, really, because if you like Draco then it's cute, and if you hate him then it's funny/ironic/well-deserved bit of comeuppance. Everybody wins!
When Sirius is talking to Harry in Book 5, and he's disappointed that Harry won't let him sneak out to Hogsmeade, he gets really catty and cruel: "You're less like your father than I thought. The risk's what would have made it fun, for James." Like, wow! What a fucking horrible thing to say to an orphan who's trying to save your life, jackass! But also: how fascinating, and what a great insight into Sirius's character, and also what a great read on how Harry and James are different people — added to the layer of complexity that we don't know if that's even true, because Sirius is in a snit right now, and lashing out, so we don't actually know if James would endorse this — if it risked his best friend's life, or his son's, he probably wouldn't! Or — or or or — the more likely possibility that fifteen year-old James would've jumped for this, but twenty-year-old James wouldn't have, suggesting that Sirius is conflating Harry with the younger James in order to try to relive his glory days as a Marauder, likely as a trauma response — I could talk about that moment forever, but TLDR, it's the key to Sirius's whole character, in my opinion.
bonus: "there is no need to call me sir, professor" (certified classic, a legend for a reason, no notes).
five scenes from the movies that altered your brain chemistry:
"She only likes you because you're the chosen one!" "I am the chosen one 😏" [WHACK]. they're siblings your honor
The moment they're all gathered to console Ron after he asks out Fleur to the Yule Ball, and Hermione's like oh she said no, and Ron shakes his head, and she goes: "...She said YES???" 🤭 and it's just such a babygirl moment. Emma Watson gives Hermione a very expressive face — it is, admittedly, what Jenny Nicholson might call an "eyebrow heavy" performance — but it's just delightful in scenes like this, where it's clear she absolutely cannot hide her feelings to save her life.
Not really a scene, but all of Draco's fun little outfits. Motherfucker will NOT wear his school uniform and I love it. We have the Iconique black suit from book 6, the turtlenecks, the cable jumpers, the disheveled-shirtsleeves look from the bathroom scene (whore), and especially the big dumb fur hat he wears outside (hideous. fashion icon).
McGonagall telling Neville to get Seamus to blow up the bridge to Hogwarts ("boom?" "boom!" what the fuck. she's so cute); followed by Seamus's immediate, absolutely doubtless "I can bring it down!!" like the total confidence he has... it's just a really adorable moment between a teacher and her students who clearly all love each other a lot. it's about community! they're books about community I could go on for HOURS—
Much darker moment, but Amos Diggory's reaction to Cedric's death. The actor sells that shit so well it scarred me as a kid— that ragged, unhinged, scream of grief he does when he sees Cedric's body, the way he cradles it to his chest, those heartbreaking two little words: "My boy..." Oh, my God. It goes so far beyond the emotional level that the books operate on, because it's live action, and the actor understands that this realism is crucial to you believing what's about to happen. You are watching a parent mourn the death of his only child, and it's CRUCIAL, because it's the turning point of the whole series. The death of an innocent child is the point at which Harry Potter becomes a series about war, and Amos Diggory is the first one to know it.

—  🎬  just  announced,  BOBBI TAYLOR has  been  cast  as  emma gilbert  in  the  upcoming  h20: just add water reboot.  the  twenty-three  year  old  is  trending  as  people  are  debating  if  the feeling of warm sand under your feet, the sound of waves brushing against the shoreline, the smell of firewood cracking on a summers night; the stillness of the water on a mild day  that  they  are  known  for  is  enough  to  make  them  as  good  as  original.  a  quick  google  search  shows  that  their  fans  call  them  cheery,  but  internet  trolls  think  they’re  more  boisterous.  i  guess  their  newest  interview  for  variety  where  they  talk  about  the time they once accidentally flashed a police officer  will  let  people  to  know  them  better.
hi guys!!! 1000000 years late, BUT i'm here ! at least with bobbi! emiri will be coming up next! for her bio, it's pretty basic. i like to leave a lot of wiggle room for plots (even past plots) and headcanons later obviously! so those will be added under! but i hope you enjoy her as i flesh her out!
april 23rd, 2000 -- BOBBI MAE TAYLOR was born to a-list actor Lewis Taylor and d-list actress Emily Nicholson-Taylor. Lewis was born and raised in Australia while Emily had called canada home up until she was 16 and ran away to LA to follow her dreams of being an actress. they had met on the set of some popular 90s rom-com (he was 19 and she was 18) where he was playing the lead and she was just an extra. for him? love at first sight. for her? well, the public had their suspicions. when she had gotten pregnant, just a couple years into the relationship, with bobbi -- emily was called many derogatory names by the press. nonetheless, lewis was 1000% sure this was the start of his family and he went to extreme lengths to protect it.
it only came crashing down when emily was caught in the back of a car (by papz) with a new costar back in 2001. then it all came out. the suspicions people had were validated. she WAS just using lewis for his fame and she was having an affair with another d-list actor the whole time. it was the biggest scandal in hollywood at the time -- even surpassing justin and britney at one point. but like all scandals, the dust settled eventually and lewis taylor (after proving he was in fact bobbi's father) filed for full custody and moved back to Australia with bobbi mae.
(tw: drinking, alcoholism; drugs) 2002 - 2015 -- bobbi doesn't remember much about her early childhood. she had gone to an all girls academy. from foundations (at 6) to year 10. it was obvious from a young age that she was incredibly smart. she loved to learn and she was very charismatic. bobbi fit in beautifully with just about any group of kids -- but she also made sure that others felt included too. at one point she wanted to be in the talent show and came up with a dance to 'genie in a bottle' with some friends. the next day one of her teachers asked them to re-do it because they didn't get to catch it the night before and her nose started bleeding out of nowhere. that, she thought, was the end of her entertainment career. she didn't really have a relationship with her mom. not by her choice, though -- or even her father's. emily was the type of parent to call when she needed something and then when it was time for a visit, she bailed. it was hard for bobbi to watch her mom fall off and drink. it was even harder for her to find out most of her mom's issues from the tabloids. she didn't understand much of it at the time but her father just kept saying 'she's sick'.
but, slowly bobbi started to wonder about her mom's family. a lot of them lived in canada but she had a sister (aunty wren, as bobbi would call her) in west virginia that bobbi and her father had always kept in contact with. wren was a special education teacher at a local elementary school and throughout every birthday WREN was the one who would send gifts and talk for hours on the phone with her. she became the closest thing bobbi had to a mother. wren herself never had kids. she wasn't able to. but she still treated bobbi like her own. she came to visit when she could, and even tried bringing bobbi's mom at one point. but, unfortunately, bobbi's mom never made it on the plane. wren said that it was because she got nervous, but the tabloids reported her being 'too drunk to fly'. in a weird way, bobbi could always count on the papz to tell her the truth.
2016 - now -- when bobbi turned 14, they had moved to america. with the only stipulation being that wren could move closer to where they needed to be for lewis' new show. with teaching in her background, wren was able to home-school bobbi until she graduated and even helped her apply to a few American colleges. that was the plan. but as bobbi started to join her father on set more and more throughout high school -- she realized her love for acting. she saw the appeal both of her birth parents had for it. and after being cast as an extra a couple of times in things her dad did -- her path took a sharp turn and she was willing to be all in.
once bobbi had graduated at 17, her father really let her delve into acting. having a famous dad and a sort of infamous mom kind of jumpstarted what is currently a pretty great career. CURRENTLY, bobbi has been announced to play emma gilbert in the remake of H20: just add water!

Who, in your opinion, are ✨Legendary, Talented Actors and Actresses✨ (deceased, alive and "legend in the making")?
Nice question!!!!  Like the word “versatile”, I feel that when referring to an actor or actress, “legendary” is thrown around too often without actually understanding what that word means and how it correlates to an actor or actress. That being said, I hope I do this right...
Alive: - Daniel Craig - Winona Ryder - Christian Bale - Julianne Moore - Jim Carrey - Meryl Streep - James McAvoy - Julia Roberts - Willem Dafoe - Susan Sarandon - Ewan McGregor - Charlize Theron - Johnny Depp (like him or not) - Nicole Kidman - Tom Hanks - Kate Winslet - Edward Norton - Morgan Freeman - Robert Downey Jr. - Leonardo DiCaprio - Allison Janney - Christopher Walken - Will Smith - Michael Caine - Brad Pitt - Dakota Fanning - Denzel Washington - Viola Davis - Gary Oldman - Bryce Dallas Howard - Idris Elba - Helena Bonham Carter - Tom Cruise (like him or not, and I, personally, absolutely despise him) - Jessica Chastain - Al Pacino - Cate Blanchett - Steve Carell (his career took off after he landed his iconic role as Michael Scott in The Office, but since his last episode in 2011, he's come a long way and has even branched out into a variety of genres as well as role types) - Angelina Jolie - Michael Keaton - Michelle Pfeiffer - Daniel Day-Lewis - Sandra Bullock - Robert De Niro - Renée Zellweger - Colin Farrell - Patricia Arquette - Colin Firth - Joaquin Phoenix - Keanu Reeves - Matthew McConaughey - Brendan Fraser - Harrison Ford - Jack Nicholson - Stanley Tucci
**There are tons of actors and actresses from the 30s-60s that were in-demand and could definitely be considered a legend, but I chose to leave them off because I didn’t want this list to be long and I wanted to focus on only the ones I grew up with as well as heard of**
Gone, but NEVER Forgotten - Heath Ledger - Carrie Fisher - Robin Williams - Brittany Murphy - River Phoenix - Chadwick Boseman - Chris Farley - Patrick Swayze
Legend in the Making: - Anya Taylor-Joy - Robert Pattinson - Margot Robbie - Julia Garner (I can just feel it...!) - Finn Wolfhard - Melissa McCarthy - Andrew Garfield - Sadie Sink (I can just feel it...!) - Cillian Murphy - Kate McKinnon - Saoirse Ronan - Anne Hathaway - Amy Adams - Lin-Manuel Miranda - Kristen Stewart (like her or not)
Honorable Mentions: Emma Thompson, Natalie Portman, Elle Fanning, Halle Berry, Chris Evans, Ryan Gosling, Ryan Reynolds, Zoë Saldaña, Emma Stone, Will Ferrell, Adam Sandler
Unsure:
Hugh Jackman - click here
Matthew Modine - A true artist at heart who was quite versatile with his roles and genres in the 80s (and so fine 😍), but he isn't super well-known nor popular like, for example, Tom Hanks; however, the role of 'Papa' on Stranger Things won him tons of new fans as well as awoke his fans that grew up with him
Jason Bateman - He's been around since the 80s, but aside from Ozark, he only really stars in crude R-rated films, so I'm on the fence about whether he'd be considered one or not
Amy Poehler
Adam Driver
Tina Fey
Jake Gyllenhaal
Chris Rock
Florence Pugh
Bill Skarsgård
Tom Holland
|---------------------------------------------------------------|
There are definitely tons--I mean tons of more actors and actresses I could write out for each category, but I'll end the lists here. Thank for the ask, this was fun to think about! If any of you have suggestions, then send me an ask.
