demo is coming friday its just going to be a lot shorter than i wanted☹️

firstly, im so sorry for disappearing. i didn't realize how long I've been gone until I saw just now that the last thing I've posted was on October 17th

But i am back now, and that's all that matters (please agree). Demo is coming Friday, November 17th, but like i said before, it's going to be far shorter than i wanted. I had originally planned to post the first two or three chapters as a little treat since this blog hit 1k followers but last night my laptop decided to refuse to accept my password forcing me to hard reset and wipe it and i lost ALL of the work i had on both embers of hope and shadows of the gun☹️(i was in genuine tears im ngl)

So! The demo will only be the prologue, but i assure you i am working to get back to where i was before. I'll stop myself here before i start rambling. Anyways, I love you and have missed you guys. Feel free to send in any ask if you have any questions or thoughts (or just say hi. ive missed talking to you guys)💞💞

I've also maybe written the start of that shadowhunter/vampire game i was talking about a while ago, and i may or may not be making a blog for it rn. if anyone is interested im 100% willing to answer any questions abt it too🤭

{The Disconnect & The Spiral}

(I realize this isn’t my usual content, but hear me out, the rekindled GF fixation is going hard rn)

- -As an avid fan of Gravity Falls and an even bigger fan of the tragic old man lore packed into the mystery trio, I honestly gotta say..

I refuse to believe this is the full story towards WHY Fiddleford and his wife had a whole blasted argument over…him forgetting to get her a Christmas present?? Upon reading this section, I can frankly say I had a similar reaction to Ford. The immediate sense of, ‘really? That’s it? Your family reunion was torn up over that?’

I mean- your husbands been gone for lord knows how long, your young son also hasn’t seen him in ages, and let’s be honest- with how much trauma the ole hillbilly is stacking up on a day to day through his adventuring with Ford, how often is he actually able to call home or write a letter with a sound mind?

It just doesn’t feel feasible that a man who started this journey so troubled and in yearning to return home to family would be so forgetful as to not scrimmage up not even a souvenir or postcard from Gravity Falls for his family. So what is it then? Perhaps he’s become so averse to everything in the small town he wouldn’t dare bring a trace of it home with him, or rather, he truly had forgotten some small one off promise he made. Perhaps he’s forgotten a lot by this point-

Because of lack of dates on a majority of his entries it’s a little difficult to put together a timeline of when Fiddleford finished his memory wipe gun and when he started using it. By all means he racked up a lot of memories he wished to forget in the beginning being as quote ‘weak minded’ as he is. But then of course we all know he becomes addicted to quite literally erasing every little inconvenience until of course the end result. The freedom of a clear mind outweighing all consequences for him.

Instead however I choose to believe these were the first persisting side effects of his machine. We know enough about it now to get the fair suggestion that even one use of the memory wipe gun can be more damaging than can truly be discerned, so seeing as he quite possibly has used it at least twice by now- both events he used them for being extensive (the shifty incident and the gremloblin incident cited in journal 3) I believe it only fair to assume this quoted argument he got into with Emma-May was hardly over one measly little present. True, we have no frame of this woman much less the rest of the family (minus what we get of Tate once he’s grown), but I am TRULY giving her the benefit of the doubt in believing her husbands mind has begun to scatter in ways he didn’t even realize. So much to the point that a fight possibly fueled by ‘it’s not just about the Christmas present, it’s about ————“ would truly confuse him

I say that in the kindest way, I love Fiddleford, truly he’s the most tragic character in my mind regarding this story, but the man’s self destruction and drift from his family had to have started somewhere. And just like any addiction that can tear a family apart, this one was definitely packing punches. I realize I don’t have much backing, and I’m really just rambling some nonsense, but Alex Hirsch just doesn’t feel like one to write a one off ‘oh by the way this silly reason is why Fidds is alone from his family for the holidays, something he clearly holds a deep fondness for’. Nah, that man is too cryptic for him to write something like that and for me to not overthink it <3

(But with all that said and done- dear god the snow globe cabin and the knitted six fingered gloves literally killed me- that hillbilly is such a damn sweetheart, it can almost make me ignore the doom that will befall him and the town <3!!)

Small little potential Wednesday season 2 plot point that I’ve seen some discussion for but honestly not nearly enough is Enid’s scars. Cause like, in the last episode, after everything goes down, Enid’s scars are prominent and clearly visible.

So I’m personally really hoping that they remain prominent, not just physically but also story-wise. I hope that they don’t just disappear with some lame excuse of “werewolf healing!” or whatever bullshit like that. I actually hope they become a centralized point of Enid’s arc in season 2, where she has to come to accept and love her own scars, no matter what others think of them.

I think that the beginning of season 2 should introduce the plot of Enid hiding her scars, maybe by growing her hair out more or maybe putting on way too much makeup or something like this. And then we need Wednesday to notice FUCKING IMMEDIATELY!!

And I don’t mean like, same day or anything like that. No, I mean IMMEDIATELY, okay? Like she enters Nevermore and Enid comes out to greet her with a hug, but Wednesday pulls back, not because of the hug, but because “Where are your scars?”

“Wh- what?”

“Your scars, from your battle with Tyler. You should be displaying them proudly, they are a symbol of your victory over that worthless scum. Where are your scars?”

And then we have Wednesday, throughout the season, trying to encourage Enid to show her scars. And perhaps, we even have a scene where Wednesday and Enid are in private and Enid isn’t hiding her scars. So Wednesday gets a complete view of them, and she decides to caress them carefully, trailing her fingers lightly across Enid’s cheek and forehead.

And Enid’s knees get weak, her eyes flutter closed as a deep rumble arises from her chest. “Wednesday…”

“Your scars, they are-” Wednesday hesitates, “They symbolize who you are, Sinclair. A survivor, a warrior. Don’t ever let the poison of others’ societal insecurities take this away from you.”

Enid opens her eyes and realizes she doesn’t see Wednesday, her roommate. She sees Wednesday, the girl she has longed to know and to protect. Enid sees Wednesday Addams, the girl who has put her life on the line for her time and again. Wednesday, who has become someone that Enid cannot imagine life without anymore. “You are too, you know? You’re so brave, Wednesday. And… you make me want to be brave too. So… don’t let anyone tell you that you’re not. Okay?”

“I will not… mi lobo,” Wednesday speaks with a softness that Enid now notices she’s only ever spared for her. Maybe… no, of course not. They’re just friends… really, really good friends.

So ummmm, oops. This got away from me a little bit… Anyway! You get my point! Wenclair should become canon through addressing Enid’s scars.

I think my favourite thing about starkid is that the female characters actually feel like characters. I think it shows especially in Della- she's such a messy little gremlin. Usually people would make the self sacrificing female character some sort of holy virgin, but this woman is a disaster, and that's what's great about her. Lex? Poor little meow meow. Steph? Absolute simp. Emma? No thoughts, just weed and dogs. Becky? Wet cat of a human. Even looking at older stuff, like trail to Oregon or twisted, or even me and my dick. Their female characters are just as silly and loveable as their male characters. Is it the bare minimum? Yes, but it's still great.

you guys don’t get it….god i’m crazy about butch lesbians. i have a ring of keys moment every time i look at my phone. seeing butch positivity…butches with style and confidence, butches in love, etc… makes me feel like there is a type of adulthood i could carve out for my life. you know the phrase “I’m going to make a beautiful life for myself, no matter what it takes” yeah 4 me that is intrinsically linked with butchness. I realized I was gay when I was 13 and I couldn’t say the word lesbian for three years. now i call myself a dyke. looking back lesbian masculinity was so demonized in everything i looked at. There is a history in butch, long before i ever found a carabiner on the ground. thank you butch lesbians for existing now & back then & forever!!
