just got stiffed (no tip) on a bill of $65. if you aren’t aware the vast majority of waiters in the US are paid below minimum wage by the restaurant that employs them and therefore our tips are our primary method of income if we want to walk that day with having made closer to a living wage. i and many servers agree that it is an unfair expectation for the brunt of our pay to be offloaded onto the customer, but whether we like it or not that is how it functions. when you go out to eat at almost any full service restaurant in the US there is an unequal power dynamic at play because you are one of the people who determines whether or not that server can pay their rent that month. that doesn’t mean you are a bad person for eating out, but you should know that’s the reality of the situation. i anticipate i will leave every shift with at least a 20% tip average and if i don’t my experience is that my labor and wages have been stolen that day. if you cannot afford to tip you cannot afford to eat at full service restaurants

I mean, no. If you actually you know, learned what the fuck Buddhism was about even for 3 seconds, you would rapidly realize how disgustingly appropriative and opposite to the original principle it is.

I'm not a "proper" or "full" Buddhist, but a lot of my parents beliefs and superstitions came from it, and my own personal spiritual believes regularly borrow principles (which is different from entirely making a joke out of a whole closed practice for dedicated Buddhists and then using it being a 'cool buddhist principle' as a reason to put yourself above others) and tulpas are honestly 1000% worse than endogenics in my book. Endogenics I actually have no large issue with other than the fact that I don't have any interest in plurality as a conversation. The whole endo discussion just does not interest me because I don't identify as plural or really care for the plural community and think syscourse is really stupid and pointless, so eh.

With that being said, as someone who is half Chinese and has some - probably a lot more Buddhist ties than you do anon - it is extremely appropriative and disgusting. A lot of the core Buddhist concepts is about freeing yourself from the concept of "me" and "I" as well as "you and them" because a lot of the concept stands to claim that everyone is interconnected as just a part of the cosmic force of the world. A large part of coming to peace in that ideology is a relinquishing of the human need and instinct to fixate on "me VS them VS the world" and just become whole and one with one another and the world around us.

There is a lot more I could say on this topic because I had this whole realization when I did a deep dive into Buddhism that was really enlightening, but I also had to like, mentally section that off because I was getting *too grounded* for my mental well being and honestly, I'm not gonna risk my mental health to educate an idiotic anon who wants to excuse being a racist cultural appropriator.

I will though say, I find it really funny that people would further increase their separation of self and concept of "I VS something else" while using a spirituality practice that is the opposite of it as a "justification" for how they are "real". It's not like its being used as a scape goat for white people to feel superior and more mystic like, ya know, they always do.

Perhaps DON'T impose your "Asian Mysticism" stereotypes and perception of Asian cultures, practices, and beliefs to justify why you have a Pinky Pie living in your brain?

Anyways, I'm not gonna sit here any longer and talk to a white person about how they don't have the right to decide what is and isn't racist / culturally appropriative. Sit your ass down and cry your white tears about it.

 The four Jedi walked outside the house. "Masters, these farmers are in trouble! Why can't we help them?" Ahsoka demanded.

 "I thought our job as Jedi is to help people!" Grim added.

 "Believe me padawans, I would like nothing more. But we need to report that the medical station has been destroyed," Obi-Wan told them. "If we stay here too long the Separatists may show up looking for us here."

 Grim was going to argue back, but she saw Obi-Wan's point. Despite wishing to help the farmers, she also understood exactly what he meant. She sighed, "I suppose that's true."

 "But-" Ahsoka started.

 "Better they get robbed by pirates, than to attract the interest of General Grievous and his hoard," Obi-Wan said.

 It was harsh but true. The war didn't leave many options for them to help people in these ways. Grim felt bad for that, but she knew that was how it was designed. Crafted by the Sith to force Jedi into spots like these.

something i’ve been thinking about lately is like. growing up muslim right after 9/11 is something i’d never really reflected on much because it was all i’d ever known — at 5, my friend’s mum didn’t let her invite me to her birthday party because i was the only brown girl in our class, at 12, my classmates would joke about my family being part of isis, at 16, my dad was interrogated by american airport security for hours — and it always stung and it always hurt but it was just the way things were because the western world hated muslims. but i don’t think i’ve ever fully comprehended the extent to which we were hated until now.

palestine is being turned into a mass graveyard. every single day there are new photos of the atrocities being carried out against them and videos of them pleading for help and still those who can actually intervene turn a blind eye. israel is claiming to only be targeting hamas “terrorists” while bombing a refugee camp. israeli police raided and assaulted a non-zionist jewish neighbourhood. israeli soldiers are posting tiktoks of them torturing captured palestinians. this is not a complicated issue and it never has been. ethnic cleansing is being committed right in front of us. and yet the western world leaders refuse to call for a ceasefire.

and while zionist organisations accuse pro-palestine demonstrations of anti-semitism, while zionist celebrities insist that they’re afraid to leave their mansions in los angeles, a six year old muslim boy was stabbed to death and his mother wounded in the same attack in chicago. a muslim doctor was murdered while sitting outside her apartment complex in texas. hundreds of peaceful protesters have been arrested (many of whom have been jewish). despite what zionists want you to believe, this is not a jewish/muslim conflict. i have so much love and gratitude to my brave jewish brothers and sisters all over the world who are condemning israel for their actions.

ultimately, israel have been granted impunity by the west. they have slaughtered thousands upon thousands of innocent palestinians. they have bombed hospitals and schools indiscriminately. they have used white phosphorus, violating the geneva convention. they have completely eradicated nearly 900 bloodlines. how many more need to be wiped out? how many more children need to be buried underneath the rubble? how many more doctors need to be confronted with the bodies of their own family members? how many more journalists need to detail the horrific acts of violence they are witnessing? what more can be done to the palestinian people that has not been done already?

i truly believe that palestine will be free one day. i believe the palestinian people will receive the justice they finally deserve. but what breaks my heart is how much they have suffered and will continue to suffer before they are deemed worthy of help. and it would be to all of our detriment if we ignored how much of a factor palestine being a predominantly muslim state has played into the way the world has reacted to their genocide.
