#episode 7 and he's got no sign of a character arc

Note
To be fair in the books using the dragonseeds was Jace’s idea, he made peace between Corlys and Rhaenyra by making him her Hand, and is the reason she won so many allies.
True, and if we get book version, I think he would over shine Rhaenyra in so many aspects, specially with the normies. Bu, Ryan downplayed his character a lot where he becomes very one note. He doesn't come as close to be as layer and complex as anyone in team green and that counting Heleana.
Imagine how much more likeable he would have been If we get the pack of ice and fire, his relationship with Sara Snow, a arc in this season where he accept his bastad side and then gives the idea of the dragon seeds? It wouldn't have been much better build up for episode 7,I think so at least. And would have made him a way more rounded character and when he death comes, would be way more impactful.
But they needed to change that because they need fix Rhaenyra as character, Ryan and company, took away all the signs of her enjoyment for violence in S1 script, whatever , they needed put her character in at least a similar path that leads to her end in the book, and you can see they are struggling a bit in the begging of the season, but they become successful to certain extension by the end of it.
And instead of we having a conversation of 2 people that lost someone for Rhaenyra, Luke/Rhaenys between Jace and Corlys. We got that one cringe dialogue between Baela and Corlys. What again, I don't mind they want to give her character to do more on the show, but at least give good material.
If Jace can be summarized in the series as a short-tempered prince, Baela is just a girl boss pro Rhaenyra. And that is sad in my opinion.

Some spn Cas history (because yay facts!! Facts are fun!!)
Misha was a guest star in S4. Castiel was originally planned to be a 3 episode and done character, but Misha was so electrifying as Cas, had great chemistry with Jensen, and Cas turned out to be such a compelling character, the show kept him around.
Misha was promoted to regular in S5 and continued in S6.
He was dropped from the show for S7 because Gamble and Singer decided to write out Cas. The network did a lot of fans a solid for once, called up the EP's, and went "hahahaha you aren't really planning to get rid of that fan favorite pretty angel are you???? hahaha ok no really bring him back" and literally refused to let spn get rid of him.
There was for sure a listlessness factor in S7 once Cas was removed. J2 were the anchors in the early seasons. In later seasons, J2M really became the show's center supports, more than just J2. (No, this is not arguable. This is reflected in canon story, and Cas's growth as a character and plot role and emotional role and in promotion for many years. No, I don't care who is offended that I said it. It's not a point of argument).
Jeremy Carver took over as showrunner in S8 and brought Misha in for an 8 episode arc, so Misha was a guest star in S8. Carver wanted to rebuild the character and in S9 Misha was promoted back up to series regular, and he stayed at that status the rest of the series.
Originally, Misha's regular status was denoted by having him third in opening credits after Jared and Jensen, before the "guest starring" section. Eventually Misha was given an "and" credit.
The "and" credit is a contract status thing. It's for series regulars of particular note, usually for a particularly noteworthy performance. Tony Head was "and" status on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. When he stepped back to recurring, Alyson Hannigan became the "and" status.
Some have tried to paint Misha's "and" designator as a sign of his lesser importance, but it's the opposite. It's a promotion and a sign of respect.
A further note, zero fans have attempted to supplant Jared and Jensen as the "top leads" of the show, but it's abundantly fair to label Misha a 3rd lead, given the proportion of Cas's plot and emotion impact on story and Misha's longevity and status. It's semantics, really. If someone gets offended if you say he's a 3rd lead, they're aren't worth your time. Eh, okay, "main character" isn't wrong either, but I'm suspicious of people who break out in hives over calling him "3rd lead"--but main character is a descriptor for Cas's role. SPN at times had 3-4 series regulars, with J2 as the only two constants the entire run of the show, which is why we say J2 are the 2 top leads. But Cas and Misha's importance are also facts.
Misha was "guest star" in S4, 7, and 8. Eventually he got "special guest star" credit during his guest starring era on spn, another indicator of an actor/performance/character of note, but not a series regular. He was a series regular for S5, 6, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15. (No this is not arguable. These are production facts. Some people still, after all this time, try to erase his regular/main character status on spn, and they aren't working in facts).

Subtext Glorious Subtext! A Dreamling on Netflix analysis in The Sandman - Part 7
1989
You've given me shattered dreams, but I know you'll come back to me...
Here's where we step into unchartered territory - what is a show to do when its source material ends 33 years too soon? Apparantly lean fully into the angst, pining, and misunderstandings tropes that all good fandom ships thrive on!
After the disastrous break up of 1889, Hob is clearly nervous about whether or not Dream will show up to the next meeting. In both comic and show, he calls out that he will still be there in a hundred years, and if Dream is too then its because they are friends. Dream doesn't answer leaving Hob to wonder whether he pushed Dream too far.
In the comic though, Dream escapes from his imprisonment in time, and is able to reunite with Hob, having spent 70 odd years contemplating his past behaviours and actions in his solitude, and evidentally makes the decision to meet Hob and accept his offer of friendship:
Tumblr media
In the comic, they reunite with Dream reassuring Hob that they are in fact friends, and it ends there. The next time they meet in Season of Mists Hob states how surprised he is to see Dream before their next meeting. There is no hint in the comics that they had changed their once-a-century date to be more frequent.
But the show changes all of this. Dream doesn't escape until 2022 so he misses his date with Hob. Instead we get to see Hob grow more and more concerned as he waits all day for Dream.
Whilst Hob waits, they show the passage of time by playing a mix of popular 80s songs, and although I know the fandom talked about this a lot when the show first aired, I can't not bring it up here because it such a hugely important part of the 1989 scene. Song choices in media are always carefully picked out. Nothing is unintentional. Producers have to apply for the rights to use songs in their shows and get those songs signed off and it isn't always an easy process, so song choices are always significant. ALWAYS. They are one of the principle ways we can analyse media and theorise about what the creators are trying to tell us. Every song choice has meaning.
For example, in Stranger Things both Kate Bush's Running Up That Hill and Journey's Worlds Apart are important song choices which reflect the emotional conflicts and journeys of the characters in season 4.
Our Flag Means Death also uses modern songs in an exceptional way to support the story and the emotional journeys of the characters. Using Fleetwood Mac's The Chain at the emotional climax for the characters in episode 8 was a work of genius.
Whilst songs specifically about love, romance, and break ups aren't always used for romantic character arcs, using three break up songs in a row for what should be interpreted as a falling out/misunderstanding between platonic friends is... unusual. Outside of comedy where the song choice could specifically be used in a humorous way (for example an overly emotional lovers break up song used for friendships in comedy could be a commentary on how ridiculous and overdramatic the two friends are being, with them acting like dramatic lovers being part of the joke.) But the scene in 1989 isn't a comedic one. Hob is genuinely hurting and Dream at this point is imprisoned. The song choices are therefore sincere. The message in the song choices should be taken at face value.
So please dear reader. Tell me what you think the following is supposed to be telling us?
Song 1: She Drives Me Crazy by Fine Young Cannibals
I can't stop the way I feel Things you do don't seem real Tell me what you've got in mind 'Cause we're running out of time Won't you ever set me free? This waiting 'round's killing me
She drives me crazy Like no one else She drives me crazy And I can't help myself
I can't get any rest People say I'm obsessed Everything you say is lies But to me there's no surprise What I had for you was true Things go wrong, they always do
She drives me crazy Like no one else She drives me crazy And I can't help myself
I won't make it on my own No one likes to be alone
Song 2:Shattered Dreams by Johnny Hates Jazz
So much for your promises They died the day you let me go Caught up in a web of lies But it was just too late to know
I thought it was you Who would stand by my side
And now you've given me, given me Nothing but shattered dreams, shattered dreams Feel like I could run away, run away From this empty heart You said you'd die for me
Woke up to reality And found the future not so bright I dreamt the impossible That maybe things could work out right
I thought it was you Who would do me no wrong
But now you've given me, given me Nothing but shattered dreams, shattered dreams Feel like I could run away, run away From this empty heart
You've given me, given me Nothing but shattered dreams, shattered dreams Feel like I could run away, run away From this empty heart
From this empty heart
I thought it was you Who said they'd die for love
And now you've given me, given me Nothing but shattered dreams, shattered dreams Feel like I could run away, run away From this empty heart
You've given me, given me Nothing but shattered dreams, shattered dreams Feel like I could run away, run away From this empty heart
Oh, no, no, no You said you'd die for me Oh, for Die for me So much for your promises So much for your promises
Song 3: Keep on Movin' by Soul II Soul
Keep on moving Don't stop, like the hands of time Click-clock, find your own way to stay The time will come one day
Why do people choose to live their lives (lives)
This way?
No-oh-oh (Keep on moving) (Keep on moving) Keep on moving yeah, yeah (Keep on moving, don't stop, no) (Keep on moving)
It's our time, time today The right time is here to stay Stay in my life, my life always Yellow is the color of sun rays
I hide myself, from no-one I know the time will surely come when You'll be in my life, my life always Yellow is the color of sun rays
Keep on moving (Keep on moving) Don't stop! (Keep on moving don't stop, no) Like the hands of time (Keep on moving) Click-clock, find your own way (Keep on moving) To stay (The time will come one day)
No-o-oh (Keep on moving) Hey-ey-ey (Keep on moving) (Keep on moving, don't stop, no) (Keep on moving) Oh!
I know the time, time today Walking alone in my own way Extremely cold and rainy day Friends and I have fun along the way Yes we do!
I hide myself from no one I know the time will really come when You'll be in my life, my life always Yellow is the color of sun rays
Keep on moving (Keep on moving) Don't stop (Keep on moving, don't stop, no) Like the hands of time (Keep on moving) Click-clock (Keep on moving) Find your own way to stay, yeah (The time will come one day) Yes!
Oh! (Keep on moving, don't stop, no) (Keep on moving) Ah-hey! (Keep on moving) Keep moving along, moving along (The time will come one day) Hey-yeah!
Keep movin', don't stop, no (Don't stop, like the hands of time) Hey-yeah! (Click-clock, find your own way to stay) Find your own way to stay (The time will come one day) (Why do people choose to live their lives this way?) Oh-woh-oh Oh, why do they choose to live this way?
Yeah! Ah-hey! (Keep on moving) Keep on moving (Keep on moving, don't stop, no) No-woh-oh (Keep on moving) No! (Keep on moving) Keep on moving in my own way I know the time will come today (The time will come one day) Ah-hey! Yeah! (Keep on moving) Yeah-hey Keep on moving, don't stop, no) Don't stop Keep on moving) Ah-hey-ey (Keep on moving) Hey-yeah! (The time will come one day) The time will surely come one day!
Hey-yeah! (Keep on moving, don't stop, no) No-oh-oh! (Keep on moving) Oh-woh-oh (Keep on moving) Hey-yeah!
I mean... *gestures at all of this*
The way I interpret these songs is a very linear emotional journey. It's a narrative in itself of Hob's state of mind as day turns to night and he waits and realises that his date isn't going to show.
First he contemplates how he can't help the way he feels. The waiting around is killing him, he's being driven crazy by his feelings, he's obsessed. But his feelings are true, and he won't make it on his own without [Dream].
Next comes the heartbreak. He dreamt that things might work out, but his dreams have been shattered. He feels like he wants to run away from his empty heart.
Finally, he realises that life goes on, he's gotta keep on moving, because he has hope that the time will come when [Dream] will be in his life again and this time [Dream] will stay.
I don't think I even need to attempt to make this any clearer! All these songs are about love, either obsessive love, heartbreak, or hope for future love. This is the kind of shit Johnlock and Destiel fans would have eaten up back in the day. At this point in Dream and Hob's relationship, at this point in this half hour sequence of television, I am not sure how else to interpret this, which is why the conversation Hob has with the bartender comes across so bizarre.
Bartender: You waiting for someone?
Hob: I think I've been stood up. We had a fight, last time we were here, but it was my fault. wish I could say I was drunk at the time, but I was just an idiot.
Bartender: I've seen plenty of friends get into fights in pubs, even more of them laugh about later.
Hob: *chuckling* maybe in another hundred years.
We all agree how bloody bizarre this is right? I have to praise this bartender for not jumping to conclusions but it would have been far more natural for him to assume Hob was stood up by a date, a woman (this is 1989 after all) and instead given his apologies and said something like "Don't worry mate, just send her some flowers and be honest with her. She'll come around."
Why does he assume they are just friends? Being "stood up" is commonly used to indicate a failed romantic date. It just isn't a natural assumption for someone to make based on the information Hob gave him. Hob cleverly keeps his explanation gender neutral, so the bartender does too, but even with gender neutral language the immediate conclusion should be that Hob was abandoned by a romantic date.
But the natural conclusion would have prompted a clarification. A definitive from Hob on the nature of his and Dream's relationship, and for whatever reason, the writers decided they didn't want there to be a definitive clarification here. Just like how they removed all the references to canon queer characters in 1589 to avoid distinguishing them from Hob and Dream, here they made sure that Hob was unable to refute or deny any implication that he and Dream may be more than platonic friends. Instead they chose to go with clunky language that doesn't really make sense, all to avoid having to make clarifications. Sorry y'all, but thats some SPN writer levels of ambiguity layering and I ain't buying it *side eyes Neil Gaiman suspiciously*. What are those writers up too eh?
I did read an interesting meta on this that the bartender could have assumed that Hob was talking about a man, clocked him as queer, and spoken in safe language to avoid an accidental outing (1989 was a difficult time for the LGBTQ+ community) but I couldn't find it or remember who wrote it to link it here. I found that interpretation to be really interesting and certainly worth considering, even if it's not my initial reading of the scene.
The other explanation is that maybe it was an attempt to "no homo" what otherwise comes across as a failed romantic date. But if that was what they were going for, it was very sloppily done and in fact only called further attention to the very romantic implications of the whole scene at least from Hob's side of things. If they really wanted to "no homo" the scene, why not just have Hob tell the bartender that he was supposed to be meeting his friend?
Then in a totally new decision made for the show, Hob finds out that the White Horse Tavern is closing its doors for good. This adds a further layer of angst and drama to Dream and Hob's relationship that the comics do not have. The worry that should Dream ever decide to return, how would he find Hob if the tavern is closed? It's once again pretty tropey in that its yet another external force keeping our boys apart. Anymore of this and we start falling dangerously close to star crossed territory.
The 1989 scene ends with a distressed and sad looking Hob, with a hint of determination, leaving the audience expecting him to do something about this.
Tumblr media
Then we get that final glorious transition, from the whiskey glass to the glass sphere holding Dream, reminding us all that no, Dream did not stand Hob up, he was in fact stuck in his prison. Dream looks stoic as always, but the glance upwards indicates that he too remembers the date, and is regretting his inability to be there to make things right.
That look then transitions seemlessly into the modern day, as Dream stares sadly at the ruins of the White Horse tavern. Which is where we leave this chapter.
Check out Part 8 for my analysis of the glorious reunion!

Fun Doctor Who trivia from 2012: at the time he was writing the 50th anniversary special, Moffat had absolutely freaking nobody to work with. David Tennant wasn't officially confirmed for it. John Hurt wasn't officially confirmed for it. Even Matt Smith wasn't officially confirmed for it. The only person he had who was absolutely guaranteed to be available for filming was Jenna Coleman.
I remember reading an interview with Moffat back in the day, detailing how much he was freaking out over this writing process, and my synthesis of it was that Series 7 part b was held together with duct tape and string. It seems obvious in hindsight that the Impossible Girl arc, being clunky and clumsy and leading to like a soft reset of Clara's character afterwards, was actually the remnant of what the 50th anniversary would have been, the plan Z option if Moffat had been unable to get any of the actual Doctors to sign up for it. Moffat's description of the hypothetical special sounds eerily similar to what the episode The Name of the Doctor ended up being: Clara travelling back through The Doctor's timeline to intervene at crucial moments, meeting all previous incarnations of The Doctor along the way.
I have to say, it's not a bad idea for a special when you only have a companion to work with. Fortunately, as we know, Smith, Tennant, Hurt and so on DID sign on for the 50th anniversary special, so we got The Day of the Doctor instead, and Steven Moffat managed to deliver one of the great Doctor Who episodes of all time, presumably also knowing that repurposing his 50th arc plans into the rest of Series 7 would deal an unfair hammer blow to his reputation as a writer.

Anime I Watched in 2023, Part 1:
1. God Troubles Me 5/5
This is technically called a donghua but we’ll consider this an anime for this list. This show is the Chinese version of Gintama and I am for it. It so hilariously charming that I got addicted quickly. There wasn’t a single character that I disliked. In fact, there wasn’t a single episode that made me bored. The animation style was godly that it definitely gave a lot of Japanese anime a run for their money. Please, please, please give this one a chance.
Tumblr media
2. Mob Psycho 100 100/10
Epic. Brilliant. Heart warming. Those are not enough to describe how much I loved this anime but it’ll have to do. Seriously, this one blew me away. I thought it was just a quirky anime about a middle schooler going psycho whenever he’s pissed but I’m so glad I was wrong. The second season caught me by surprise; it’s definitely my favorite of the three. Mob’s character development happened so effortlessly that I actually had to take a moment to let it all seep in on how much he changed. Also Reigen is the best Master in the anime universe, hands down. His confession to Mob at the end brought tears to my eyes, he truly cared for Mob.
Tumblr media
3. Charlotte 4/5
Absolutely loved this one. The reason that this didn't get 5 stars was because the ending felt a bit rushed. Also, I didn't like Kumagami dying. He was such a vital character that I felt like we should've explored more. If I was the MC I would've definitely travelled back in time just to save him. Overall, I highly recommend this anime.
Tumblr media
4. Barakamon 5/5
After watching a depressing anime like Charlotte, you definitely need something lighthearted to watch and this was really got me out of my funk. I wasn't expecting this to be so funny, honestly. This was such a warm, funny, slice of life that made me crave living in the countryside.
Tumblr media
5. Blue Lock 5/5
Ok I have to admit I didn't start off liking this one. Isagi's whining was grating on my nerves. Thankfully, I have learnt the error of my ways and have now come to realize that Isagi is HIM! Holy crap the development of this boy was crazzzzyy. There are so many interesting characters in this show that I was confused who was the real main character. Also, it was so refreshing to have an anime without the power of friendship; it was every man for themselves and I was absolutely there for it.
Tumblr media
6. Play It Cool Guys 5/5
Ahhhh this was such a cute wholesome anime! If you're stressed out with life please just watch these adorkable group of young men try to navigate their lives. It was so nice to see the uncool side of guys for once. The episodes were short and sweet and I really hope we get another season of them.
Tumblr media
7. Tomo-chan is a Girl! 5/5
This was such a funny and sweet show. I'm always a sucker for friends to lovers romance so this was right up my alley. This anime also had so many charming side characters that I couldn't but fall in love with them also.
Tumblr media
8. Ice Guy and his Cool Work Colleague 5/5
I felt so single watching this. How do I sign up to work at their company? I swear everyone was finding love and being all happy while all I get in my workplace is stress and more stress. It was also so refreshing to have a romance anime with adults and not high schoolers.
Tumblr media
9. Demon Slayer Season 3 5/5
Another great season to another great anime. Can I just add that I loved the OP from episode one while everyone was hating on it; it was such a banger! The animation was once again top tier that I can't wait to see what the studio does when animating the last arc. This was a tough season to compete with the flashy brilliance of Tengen's last season but they did wonderfully. I'm glad I got to see my baby girl Mitsuri finally animated.
Tumblr media
10. My Love For Yamada -kun is Lv 999 5/5
I watched the first episode right after it aired and I knew I couldn't hold out for another week. I devoured the manga! It was that good. The anime definitely didn't disappoint. This was such a sweet, comforting anime that put my cynical heart at ease. I really hope that we get more seasons because my boy Yamada is the standard!

Sorry, I haven’t updated in a while but I was moving into my new apartment and had a bunch of other stuff to take care of. But, anyway I’ve now watched episodes 8-12 of twin peaks.
After watching episode 8 and 9, I feel like episodes 7-9 were almost a sort of mini arc/end to a chapter of twin peaks. The end of Leland. I have to say that Leland’s actor does such a good job of mixing grieving father and evil psychopath and switching between the two of them. And the end of episode 9 is such a highlight. The whole scene with Agent Cooper comforting Leland as he dies and the discussion afterwards in the woods about who/what Bob is and if he’s real. I liked Albert’s quote about if Bob is just a manifestation of the evil inherit in humans. Also, we find out before Leland dies that Bob and other evil spirits were trying to posses Laura, but that she rejected them and didn’t let them. And that’s why Bob killed her and he was willing to die so that she wouldn’t we taken over and used for evil. Laura was such a strong girl and she deserved better.
Also, I just have to say that Laura’s mom is also so strong. I don’t think I’d be nearly as well put together as her if my daughter was murdered and then it turns out my husband did it and then he kills himself. I liked how Agent Cooper talked to her and explained to her that it wasn’t really Leland that did it but something evil in him.
Then after Leland dies we have a small lull in the story where the characters are trying to figure out what to do next and Cooper is about to leave Twin Peaks when suddenly he gets fired from the FBI for saving Audrey and crossing into Canada and is under investigation for drug smuggling and the deaths of 3 people at the casino. I get why he would be fired for illegally crossing into another country but it’s still unfair. Since they’re also investigating him for cocaine smuggling the FBI send in a DEA to investigate and that’s when we meet Denise! I love Denise, she’s really fun and a great friend to Cooper. As someone who isn’t trans I obviously can’t definitively speak on if Denise is a good representation for trans people or not but I do love how instantly accepting Cooper was and how despite some confusion how accepting most of the other characters were. I love how she’s instantly ready to help Cooper out and knows that he’s innocent but is still stern about doing her job. I also loved her quick interaction with Audrey and how excited Audrey got at meeting a lady agent.
Another thing we hav going on is that Cooper seems to be being stalked/threatened by his old partner for some reason. We got a bit more of Coopers backstory and found out that once him and his partner were tasked with protecting a woman and that Cooper fell in love with her and that she when she was attacked he wasn’t ready and she died. Cooper then mentions that after that case his partner went insane. Im still not sure why his old partner is doing this or what he wants, does he want revenge on Cooper and why? It didn’t sound like based on the story Cooper told that he did anything bad to his partner but I guess there’s still more to be revealed.
There’s also a bunch of other little side story’s going on, such as Hank is now working with Renault and has roped Norma’s mother’s husband into his scheme. Then, we have Ben Horne who’s having a bit of a mental breakdown after getting arrested for Laura’s death, then conned into signing over the mill and ghost wood estate to Catherine and then finding out that his lawyer is a psycho killer. This then leads him to hiring Bobby to track Hank after Hank tells him he’s no longer working for him. Also, with Bobby we have Shelly and Leo where it seems like Leo is slowly waking up. I’m worried about what will happen to Shelly if he does. Then, we also have the other storyline with Lucy and Andy and Dick which I forgot to talk about previously but anyway now Dick thinks that this kid he’s fostering murdered his parents and is asking Andy for help. Not my favorite storyline but it has its funny moments. Also, I hope the baby is Andy’s. Then we also still have this thing with Nadine we’re she thinks she’s 18 and also has superhuman strength for some reason. Still not sure what the point of this plot is. But again, it has some funny moments.
Then, we also have Donna and James’ story where James got upset after learning about Maddy’s death and ran away and seems to think that him and Donna being together is causing this or something? Idk and now he’s at some rich lady’s house where she’s being abused and he’s into her or something i don’t really care. I feel for you James but you’re testing my patience and also this is now twice you’ve cheated on Donna! Now, speaking of Donna it seems that the old lady and the little boy Donna met earlier in the season that told her about Harold aren’t actually real. Or more like they’re supernatural beings if some kind. I wonder if we’ll see them again.
Then, we had a big thing happen where Bobby’s dad, Major Briggs got abducted while out camping with Cooper and has now returned randomly appearing in his living room. I wonder what happened to him, who took him, where, and if this is actually Briggs or like someone/something pretending to be him or if he’s been possessed by Bob now. Which is another thing, Bob threatened to kill again before he made Leland kill himself and I’m worried about who he’s going to posses next and who his next victim will be if there is one.
Also, we learned from Briggs that there is some place called the white lodge which has an opposite place called the black lodge and it seems like good spirits live at the white lodge and evil spirits live at the black lodge. Interested to learn more about that.
Also another quick major thing that was revealed is that Katherine’s brother and Josie’s husband Andrew is actually still secretly alive!? And that him and Catherine are waiting for this man Eckhardt to come looking for Josie and then kill him. Also, poor Josie being forced to be a maid and humiliated by Catherine.
Anyway, lots of stuff happened these past few episodes and I’m excited to continue watching the show and see where everything goes.

April was not a good reading month but wow, was it a writing month! I spent a lot of my home-based reading time working on my current WIP instead, so I’m trying not to have regrets about how much I didn’t read. I also didn’t truly manage to read anything off my physical TBR, but I’d wanted to reread The Goblin Emperor since I finished it the first time and so technically that’s off my TBR now?
My main bookish achievement this month, besides reading The Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi, was pulling off another Indie Bookstore Day at work a couple days ago. I had help, my coworkers are awesome, I wasn’t organizing or running it alone or anything, but it’s still a lot of work to put together a party while handling the regular bookstore day-to-day, and then there’s set-up and twice the customers on the day and the tear-down which took all of yesterday…. I did unhaul a bunch of my unread ARCs for a book giveaway as part of this, which I’m very glad about. That’s really going to help my end-of-year stats, I think. (I also unhauled a few of my read ARCs that I was keeping for … some reason?)
And I accidentally bought two books. A Long Day in Lychford was a planned buy, but I got a gift card from my parents for Easter, which went impulsively towards The Gashlycrumb Tinies, and then yesterday I bought some bookish things for a little one and somehow the Pratchett bio found itself in my stack. No idea how that happened. 😅 No regrets, either.
May is going to be a lot like April, I think, or at least it hopefully will involve more writing than reading when I’m home. I’d like to ride the inspiration as far as it’ll take me, after all. It’s also going to be like April in that I’m waiting for the library to come through with a lot of my holds. I’m tag-teaming on a few of them, with physical and e-book reserves. I have no idea what I’ll read when I’m done the ones I’m working on now.
And now without further ado, in order of enjoyment…
The Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi - Shannon Chakraborty

Silver Talks AniManga (11/02/24)
very sad weeks back to back, losing two good manga in cipher and mma, while other worse series continue along but oh well
green - new series/new to me blue - finale/completed
Tumblr media
Anime
Undead Unluck Ep18
it's a shame these past few eps have been so heavy on recapping past stuff, to the point where most of the footage in the ep is reused. hope it isn't a sign there's underlying production issues. considering the nature of the next episode there's prob also gonna be a lot recaps but after we get into the autumn arc proper I hope it goes back to normal or it'll be worrying
Tumblr media
Pokemon Horizons Ep39
the last few have been p weak so this one was pretty good in comparison. I haven't played scarvi yet but I've always liked tinktaton's design and this made me like it even more. it's a cute little creature, looking forward to see it being part of the cast in the future
Tumblr media
Manga
Super Psychic Policeman Chojo Ch1
hey for a gag manga that was pretty decent, much better than ichigoki at least, not like that's hard. reminded me a lot of saiki but that's for obvious reasons. the author had a manga some years ago, samon the summoner, tho I never read it myself I knew it existed and saw it around sometimes. anyway like I said, this first chap was p decent, suffered a bit from pacing and repeating gags, but when it's the normal lenght it'll probably be fine. I'm not usually the biggest fan of gag manga like this, but this chap alone was a lot more tolerable than ichigoki so I'll be looking forward to maybe being surprised by it
Tumblr media
Martial Master Asumi Ch32 (Finale)
it's a real shame mma got axed like this. kawada is a jump veteran and it really shows, everything about the series was a lot more polished and well executed than the other newcomers but it got axed while something like nue, shockingly, continues to truck along. it's a shame jp readers seem to have such bad taste in recent years with good series getting canceled too early while others stick around for way too long. anyway, it's a good manga. art's really good and the fights are cool and easy to follow. the cast, including the rivals, is all likeable. the cameos from hinomaru sumo characters was also cool (the author's previous work). it also portrayed dementia really well and respectfully so that was a nice thing to see. I was originally gonna give it an 8, then decided to bump it down to 7 cause it got cut short and felt like it didn't do everything it could've, but after looking at my scores for some other canceled series I decided to bump it up to 8 after all. looking forward to kawada's next manga. hopefully shueisha puts him in another magazine, doing a seinen or something, where a more mature audience can appreciate him
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Two on Ice Ch19
only commenting on this cause the chapter's title was "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" which made me lose my mind cause there's no way it's a reference to that song right? and then I read the chap and it actually is, this shit hit me so outta nowhere it gave me whiplash. I know the author referenced a justin bieber song in an early chap but he's mainstream so while weird to see in a manga I didn't think much of it, unlike this which took me completely by surprise anyway this series should be getting axed for the next serialization series so I'll talk about it again then probably

*Spoilers for Never Have I Ever Season 4*
So, I'm a huge Benvi shipper but I always loved the love triangle and I felt like season 3 left a lot of things unsaid (at least on Paxton's end towards Devi) between Daxton that needed to be resolved to give us proper closure (even though I knew that Benvi was going to be endgame and was happy about it), so I felt that the resolution that Daxton got in episode 7 felt really "meh". But then I rewatched it, and I think that Darren's acting actually says a lot of stuff that wasn't verbally said. Initially, I thought that it was unrealistic that Paxton just laughed the whole thing off and didn't seem to care at all because he definitely seemed to want to try things again in the future with Devi at the end of season 3. And I also felt that the Daxton arc within the episode felt really disconnected with the rest of the episode because Devi didn't really add much to his character development.
However, I realized that Paxton actually flirts a little with Devi in episode 6 ("You know I still look good"), and earlier in episode 7 ("And I thought you were just doing this job to hang out with me"). I think what's important to note is that in the moments leading up to the kiss, he realises that Devi had sex with other people. Especially finding out that she had sex with Ben is a real eye-opener for him. And yes, he laughs (because it is funny and he isn't so in love with her that he'd be heartbroken), but Darren definitely portrays expressions other than humour there. There's definitely some disappointment apart from shock. For example, notice his tone when he says "Yeah", after she thanks him for congratulating her on having sex. He also chuckles a little sadly at some point during their conversation. I think that is when he realised that Devi and him were probably never going to happen again.
And I also think it brought back his earlier insecurities regarding not being able to connect with her intellectually the way Ben did. And I think it was an extra blow to his already low self-esteem considering he already felt pathetic for not being able to succeed at college - that's how it connects to the rest of the episode - it was a part of him feeling like he had hit rock bottom. And while it sounds romantic when he says that she is way too good for him, it's actually a sign of just how awful he feels about himself. I think the kiss that came after is him trying to find a little bit of comfort from someone he knows is on his team, and also a goodbye (romantically) kiss. As for Devi, I think she had mostly let him go in 3 x 10 when she no longer felt the "stomach knots" for him. But to finally kiss him as an equal and decide that she did not want anything else to happen between them (even before he said that nothing else could happen between them) was a sign that she truly had definitively outgrown her original dream. And Paxton had also accepted that they would never happen again after that kiss. He is also at peace with himself after that conversation with his mother and no longer feels like he is not good enough. And I think he realises even more definitively that the Devi chapter in his life has ended when she tells him that it was for the best that nothing else could happen between them (he clearly had a bit of a surprised expression when she said that even though he had already let her go - that's why Devi clarifies that the kiss still "ruled") and that it felt like closure. While Devi has a slight smile on her face when she says that it felt like closure, Paxton has a serious look on his face that turns into a smile, showing mild disappointment but that he had accepted that they were well and truly done too (and that the kiss had given him closure too). And he was at peace with it. After that, Ben walks in and the scene is a bit similar to Paxton walking in during 3 x 10 when Ben and Devi were having a moment. Except, in 3 x 10, Paxton does not recognise the vibes between Ben and Devi while in 4 x 07 he does (because he has all this new information). He points out the vibes to Devi showing that he has moved on too and is happy with how things are. And I thought that the friendship scene in 4 x 10 was a really sweet last scene for Daxton. They hugged for a long time and it was clear that they were really special to each other. There seemed to be a tiny bit of sadness in his eyes before he smiled but I definitely don't think that means he has not moved on. That's just the way things are for exes who meant a lot to you. Also, maybe I just imagined the sadness, so I can't say for sure.

SaL anon here my friend and first off these are for you (🍸🫂) X 1000. Second just wow, I clearly underestimated the depth of KR's pettiness and apparent loathing for the fanbase. I'm not one to say you have to or should cater to the fans wishes, but some things really do seem to be done out of spite since they are clearly not done because its good or even sensible storytelling. Third, it truly takes some kind of "talent" to so completely ruin the messages and storytelling of an entire show so completely in one season (and no, I am not just referring to Buddie, pretty much every character suffered from the great S6 KR retcon), it takes even more to say to yourself "yeah, this is the way it should end". I can say with some assurance that if KR is still around for S7, I won't be.
And no I'm not forgetting Tim in all this, he calls the final shots and distracted or not he still signed off on the undoing of his own storytelling. At this point I think he has a 3 season limit to his abilities, and after that get ready to be disappointed.
All the hugs, wine, and eventual hot chocolate for you bestie. I may be caught up in episodes, but I haven't spent the same amount of time and hope you and many others did on this show, to feel all that promise and watch it slowly start to fade (it was already on its way down by the time I got involved). I truly don't have words for this.
"great S6 KR retcon" please! 🤣🤣🤣 I am literally like...speechless. I was prepared for maybe some Marisol mention but not *that* and I was prepared for the couch to be about Buck making a choice for himself, but Jesus H. Roosevelt Christ even MY pessimistic ass didn't see THAT coming. I am just....WTF was that?! Legitimately, we got Bathena FINALLY getting the honeymoon, we got Henren getting a baby girl, we got Madney planning their wedding, and then Buck and Eddie got shoehorned in with random women just to make sure if the show was going off the air that everyone knew that KR would rather flush seasons of storytelling and character arcs out the window rather than allow anyone to interpret the finale as anything other than Buck and Eddie being straight and ending the show paired up with LITERALLY ANY WOMAN so long as people couldn't draw Buddie conclusions?! Even Buddie aside they knew all season this was coming but they couldn't risk fandom tuning out and not hyping up the show so they would rather tell a poorly done half-assed story rather than show their hand early that they have only ever been using fandom to hype the show up. (Also, was Ravi even in the end montage?! KR taking a parting shot in what would be the series finale to erase him again.)
ANYWAY.
I would like to send YOU a thousand drinks and hugs and a MILLION apologies for dragging you into this show only to watch it go down in flames. From the bottom of my heart, my bad. And I will not hold it against you for dipping out for season 7, and thanks for always being my inbox bestie. We'll find things to talk about and if we're all very lucky, ABC will do the right thing and make some changes. If not, it's been a fun ride with you!
Sorry to everyone else in my inbox, I am going to go read some fluffy Buddie fic while trying to block the last 10 minutes of the episode from my brain and then I'm going to sleep. I am...tired.
So one last time tonight and said with my whole entire chest, ABC FIRE KR.

Hi! I don't know if I'm onto smg but I took some notes about the box's poem in The Winchesters, bc I felt like there was something weird in the way it seems to be a direct message to us...
Thought I'd share it here - those are unorganized thoughts, I will maybe go further into it later.
Tumblr media
Follow the path of I toward Heaven
Second spot is four less seven
Find the fourth behind Hells door
Six suns set on the Western floor
I will always lead you there
Ending the darkness that we all fear
What is this referring to? (besides the obvious aka the way to open the box)
• Heaven is where Dean is currently, and maybe he wants to lead us there bc this is ultimately where is the thing he wants to show us
• "The path of I" - the way it implies "I" is a god-like entity, or God, even, who lives in Heaven. Spn has established God = the narrator so what if "I" here is the narrator?
• Imagine if numbers = spn seasons - s4 & s7 - s4 introduced Castiel (ohoh!) and 7 is the whole Leviathan and Godstiel thing, it's when Dean and Cas get sent in Purgatory. So - s4 less s7, means Castiel's arc story without his descent in madness? s7 is known to be the worst season for most - on a meta level: what would've happened if the situation had been different? What spot would they be in if s7 didn't happen ? What if Chuck didn't write it this way? idk
→ it's less like s7 and more like s4 ? will we get the thrill of this 1st meeting? given that TW tells the story of John & Mary's meeting - mirroring Cas/Dean meeting (cf the entrance scene in trailer), it's kind of a retelling of that story - second spot = second show, second story, we're getting back to that s4 moment, w less of s7 nonsense? or w/o s7 Cas & Dean separation?
s7 also first meeting w Charlie who had the other most brutal BYG of the show
Other interesting things abt s7: Dean forgives Cas, Bobby gets hurt, Dean sent back in time, the "facing your fears" episodes, intro of Kevin Tran, Sam haunted by Lucifer, etc...
But the main thing about s7 to me is how it ends w Purgatory AND the fact Cas wasn't planed to be a series regular this season (tvline 20th may 2011 see fr wiki)
• "find the fourth behind Hell's door",wow, if number = season, s4 being sent in Hell, like, the whole Castiel arc being sent to hell bc of the ultimate choices made in last season by writers/Chuck - also s4 starts w Dean in Hell, being raised from Hell by Castiel
• Six suns set on Western floor - idk yet
- Sun: positive, light, warmth
Sunset : Dean driving in sunset
Sun setting: ending of day
- 6, 6 like what? dean + sam + cas + mary + john + jack: family?
6 main chars: Mary, John, Carlos, Latika, Ada, Millie
6 writers ? (which)
obv 6= hexagon (box shape)
Random: 6= Dream Theater, 6th song of second disc Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence: following 6 chars w diff mental illnesses
Aristotle's 6 elements of tragedy : plot (mythos (which means LIE lmao)), character (ethos), diction (lexis) , thought (dianoia), spectacle (scenic effect) (opsis), song (music) (melos)
In religion: seraphs have 6 wings, 6 points of David star, creation in 6 days, is "perfect number"
Also: virgo 6th astroloical western sign, sixth sense, us army radio call sign (rainbow six),
- western, cowboy hats
western: america? Hollywood ? western canada: Vancouver? idk
• I will always lead you there : Dean/Jensen saying "this is where I want this story to go, that's the plan"
• Ending the darkness that we all fear - in text the darkness we all fear is death, pain, suffering, and facing our sins, basically. The poem on a litteral level says tge suns/positive stuff will end death and suffering that demons represent. This much is obvious. You can't end death though, it's a natural thing that's meant to happen. Unless you're in a story and your death has been wrongly written UH OH we got something there ! 👀
• The darkness could very well be the Empty / bad writing / homophobia on a meta level. We all fear it, "we" the audiance, the queer audiance that's been here since s4. We all feared queerbaiting and Cas' death and Dean's death and that's what happened in spn. Jensen / Dean tells us, if he's speaking here, "fear not my gays, all will be well because this fear of yours is over, we're going to fix it, to cast the darkness (death & separation of those chars) away.
Note about the runes in the picture:
- ingwaz/ing (associated with Yngvi/Freyr - fertility god, commands rain and sun light, brother of Freyja goddess of love (and according to me goddess of shipping lol) ) / means protection
- not an original futhark - means energy, maybe a combination of the o and r of a latin version of the futhark / also looks like a reverse fehu + raidō (f and r) - I am not knowledgeable enough to trace its origins.
I am no expert I'm guessing by the look of the letters but go see the Wikipedia page.
In internet esoteric culture it's protection and energy.
Given that we know Richard is returning maybe foreshadowing Loki/Gabriel.
I don't know if it's right I just laid my thoughts randomly, it is not a completed work. The whole thing just sounds like Jensen/Dean talking directly to us about his plan in narrating this story, it makes a clear parallel between John and Mary and Dean and Cas, and also he takes Chuck's place here, in a way, and is going to set the record straight on it all, fix some wrongs, give a new frame of reference for reading spn, you know what I mean? Goes along with the whole "I'm chosing the music"/" the main villain is a DJ", etc, implying Dean is becoming the driver of the whole narrative. It's all very symbolic and I'm really liking the level of meta here.

The 100 Live Blogging
Alright yall, I'm gonna take a dive back into the only show aimed at teens that I watched as a teen. Everyone had their one CW show and this was mine. Separate posts will be made for separate watching sessions but episodes done in the same watching session will be added as reblogs. Block the tag "alli watches the 100" if you don't want this on your dash (no shame to ya)
Episode 1x01 Pilot
We are off to a bad start Netflix started playing suits when I opened it for some fucking reason
Right off the bat, Eliza Taylor's American accent isn't bad at all, but it's got the American vocal fry that I hate
Also it's really funny to me that the lead actors of this show have names that are near identical to people who are way more famous than them (Eliza Taylor and Bob Morely)
Not a good sign that the UK part of the Ark, the spaceship these people are staying post apocalypse, looks like it has cardboard on the exterior
Juvenile offenders call lockup "the sky box" which is was teenagers are never in charge of naming things
CW dialogue exposition my beloathed
Wells got himself arrested not for Clarke, but in my headcannon, that The 99 isn't as good of a title
My only solace for having to deal with Finn is that unlike the first time I watched this show, I know he dies instead of just wishing for it
Ah season one Bellamy hair, it makes him look like a middle school teacher
You see I hate CW dialogue but I also absolutely would have screamed "We're back bitches" if I was the first person back on earth in a century
Cue too on the nose pop song, radioactive by imagine dragons
I swear to god a solid 20% of Finn's dialogue is calling Clarke princess and im supposed to like him?
I will say off the bat Bellamy is the best character because so far he's the least clichéd and most interesting lol. Meanwhile I can't wait for his sister Octavia to be a good character because she does, she does get better but for now....yikes
Monty!!! Monty best boy!!!
FUCKED UP DEER MY BELOVED!!! TWO HEADED DEER WOOHOO!!!
I dont know how to explain it, everything on the Ark...like it doesn't look greenscreened but it does look weirdly hazy like it's not there??
The actor for Kane has a very bad American accent, it's so far up his nose it's like he's sick lol
Love the random girl who yelled "It's water!!!" When it started raining
Begging this society to stop using the term "floated" for executed it sounds so fucking stupid
Kane absolutely said the word "majority" instead of "maturity" and that's the take they used for some reason
Clarke is a beautiful artist and normally I don't wanna be the person to question this but how does she know what the Arc du Triumph is
Kane please don't say you're willing to "take us down to a cosmic Adam and Eve" to your female co-worker clearly both you and the writers don't realize how extra creepy that it
This show really likes shot to shot scenes where the camera is just panned up a little so you can see up the actor's nose and it's so awkward
I dont want to be that person, but I think it's very telling that Abby (Clarke's mother)'s best friend is an Asian woman who is still unnamed despite having more lines than multiple white characters who are already named. Like this show is quite diverse and it's not going to be fun rewatching and seeing how poorly they handled that diversity.
Director: "okay can you boys just improv for a moment to delay the scene so we can have the big moment at the chorus of the song?" Actors: "Sure boss!"
What!?!?! You're not alone on Earth?!?! I never would have seen that coming! /s
Final rating: 7/10 despite its flaws I'm far too interested to not continue. What shot Jasper?? Idk! It's a fun lord of the flies story that is really interesting if only its dialogue was better

I'm supposed to be taking a break from Tumblr, but I've gotta get this out somewhere.
I feel like, within the Doctor Who fandom, there's a general agreement that Jodie Whitaker's tenure as #13 was A Potentially Fantastic Doctor let down by consistently horrible writing and, towards the end, horribly inconsistent production values.
And one thing that I think goes underappreciated about that is how much of a freak lightning-in-a-bottle moment The Power Of The Doctor was.
Here we have:
A story that makes no sense
Almost a dozen different major characters to juggle
Moment-to-moment continuity that is stretched at the seams trying to explain itself
A villain plan involving 3 major recurring villains where 2 of said villains are pretty much unnecessary
Another case of The Doctor being out-of-action for large chunks of the episode
A pressing need to make the whole thing feel like an anniversary special, for the BBC's sake, AS WELL AS an appropriate send-off for Jodie and all 4 of her companions (Yaz, Graham, and the other two)
Oh and it's technically a multi-Doctor story too, in between the cameos from Ruth, 1st, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th. All alongside 13!! That's 1 Doctor and 7 Cameo Doctors in 1 story!
And yet, despite all this, despite its numerous flaws, despite the fact that nothing about it makes sense, despite the fact that it has to try way too hard to cram everything into its own runtime, it ends up being the most fun I've had watching any episode in 13's run, and I highly doubt I'm alone in that.
I wonder if it's in some ways comparable to The Day of The Doctor. Lest we forget, Steven Moffat was going through a period where almost everything he did got negative reviews. Maybe some of that was earned, maybe some of it has aged better in hindsight. Maybe some of it (consider The Impossible Girl arc) was being stretched at the seams trying to accommodate all possible plans for a 50th anniversary special. (Moffat apparently ONLY had Jenna Coleman signed on to appear in it at one stage, not even Matt Smith, so Clara as the companion who meets every Doctor seems like a not-unreasonable backup plan in hindsight!)
But then, from Night of The Doctor onwards, everyone seemed to agree that this was the best 50th anniversary special they could have asked for.
And like, to be clear, I think that functionally, Day of The Doctor is a vastly superior episode to Power of The Doctor. But they do have in common that it was the best you could have expected under pretty dire circumstances.

Thank you @gvnseylike for the tag! I enjoy doing these 🥰
Share your wallpaper
I use a wallpaper changer lol. Currently there's 271 in rotation, some are my own art, some are from various fandoms, some are my pets, stuff like that. It's biphobic to make me choose 😘
The last song you listened to:
😅 Take Me Away from the Lindsay Lohan/Jamie Lee Curtis Freaky Friday movie, actually. Best fictional song imo
Currently reading:
Bookclub with my dad - All About Love by bell hooks
Book buddies with my best friend- Shadow and Bone/working our way through the Grishaverse by Leigh Bardugo
I also listen to a fuckload of audiobooks at work, just finished The Sharper Your Knife, the Less You Cry by Kathleen Flinn. Now I'm revisiting Arc 8 of Unprepared Casters, will prolly finish that by Friday and idk what's after that. Reccs literally ALWAYS welcome I have headphones on a solid 6 hours a day minimum
Last Movie:
I think it was Glass Onion? Been on more of a TV kick lately
Craving:
It is so close to strawberry season and I am *dying* for some good strawberries. There's a strawberry farm 2 minutes from work and every day I look to see if their sign is up cause the second it is I'm buying a pallet
What are you wearing right now?
Black bandeau and comfy shorts, basically my jammies
How tall are you:
5'4. I am short and squishy.
Piercings:
I had my ears pierced as a kid, suffered for years trying all the different earring materials until I finally gave up and accepted that my body doesn't like being pierced and will die mad about it
Tattoos:
One on my back right hip, of my late pet rat Mungojerrie. I've had a total of 12 rats in my life (usually 4-5 at once) and adored them all, but Mungo's pattern was most suited to a tattoo so she represents my lil mischief. I want more tattoos but those cost money I don't have rn, so someday
Glasses? Contacts?
Either! Depending on the outfit. Wearing glasses a lot lately because I got some really cute glasses chains
Last drink:
Currently have two on my end table, water for hydration and Dr pepper cause it's tasty
Last show:
Bob's Burgers, the episode where Teddy pretends to be into hurling and Louise attempts to turn herself into an Avatar of the Buried by sacrificing Tina to a watery grave for a gd rusty ball jfc that was stressful my anxiety was through the ROOF
Last thing you ate:
McDonald's chicken nuggets. Is a lazy kind of night
Favorite color:
Green
Current obsession:
Mild hyperfixation on the grishaverse after season 2 of the entflix adaptation prompted a series reread
Unrelated obsession:
Dragon Age, specifically Dragon Age 2. It's my never ending hyperfixation lol
Any pets:
Two dogs, two cats, and a leopard gecko. The dogs are Ruby, a Doberman mix from a local rescue with separation anxiety that the rescue was not up front about, love my boy but I am *mad* at that rescue, and Angel, a byb min pin adopted from a friend's grandpa when he had to go into assisted living. The cats are Boris, an orange tabby adopted as a kitten from our vet, and Rangi, a calico adopted as an adolescent from the same vet a year later, after our first cat Natasha passed away. Last there's Heihei, the leopard gecko I adopted from the petsmart where I worked at the time after he was blinded by an eye infection and they couldn't sell him. He's a cool little dude.
Do you have a crush on anyone?
I am in a happy long term relationship lol
Favorite fictional character:
See answer one and don't be biphobic 😇, you get two - Fenris from Dragon Age 2 and Keladry of Mindelan from Protector of the Small. I adore them both and honestly for very similar reasons despite their vastly different backgrounds and personalities.
The last place you traveled:
Day trip, I went about an hour and a half away to ~nearby largeish city~ to see Hadestown and it was *incredible*. Overnight, I honestly have no idea, it's been like 7 years at least but it'd probably have been the last time I visited my Florida grandparents instead of the other way around, they've been spending half the year in our state lately and I can't afford to travel to visit them there. Yay adulthood.

Sweet Home [Season 2] └ Moments
EPISODE 1 • I suffer sooo much when monsters that are or would be benign are harmed or even killed... T-T • Yep. Let that be a warning. Trying to possess characters as hardcore as Pyeon Sang-wook might not go smoothly. You'd assume he's tough on first impression but there are even more layers of badassery underneath that you wouldn't expect. • Jung Wooi-myung seems to have gotten the humbling and humiliation of his life. I don't know if he's paying past along with present karma but... cutting words were spoken. There's a (IMO, wide) degree of shamelessness and mischief that I can be comfortable with, but he exceeded it and just puts me in a bad mood. But whatever, if shaking up the story is what he's there for, so be it. Would like a redemption arc, but won't be hung up on the possibility of it. This might be my last mention of him, too, as I'm only irritated by him.
EPISODE 2 • When Yoon Ji-soo said "You are hideous as hell." You can bet she wasn't referring merely to the physical! Luv, luv, luv that punk! But daaang. She sacrificed her hearing? Despite being a musician?! Nuuu... Don't be so noble. D: • I refuse to believe that that child is dead! And I'm relieved that that cop is alive and with them...
EPISODE 3 • OMG!! Huge sign of Park Chan-young playing at the stadium as a pitcher. How did he end up in the military, anyway? Great at it, though! The world would be a better place with more people having civic responsibility like him! • Pregnancy is scarier than all this apocalypse combined. @_@ Lee Si-young has been off on her own for a while now. I hope she's well and returns well.
EPISODE 4 • Egotistical idiots are the worst to have in a survival situation. If that makes me sound ableist or elistist, so be it, but it's the truth. I see it over and over, in different stories. Gotta have that ego in check and use your brain. • How many times do you think Lee Eun-yoo has already begged and cried out for them to show up? At what point would she go, "Okay, so this is my life. There's an overpowered entity watching over me who either likes video games too much or has an undying love for me. Maybe both. And I may never see them. But hey, at least I'm not completely alone." :T
EPISODE 5 • This episode felt kind of slow to me. Maybe because I wanted to see more of the characters I've been wondering about? And go different places too.
EPISODE 6 • This show putting romantic tension between Park Chan-young and Lee Eun-yoo. And came across something suggesting there would be a love triangle with him in the next season. I don't ship them romantically, though. I just very much appreciate his kind ways in such a harsh world and don't want him to die. • Park Chan-young is indeed suffering more than it's apparent due to being avoided... :( She's still a tough cookie, though.
EPISODE 7 • All these people being so defensive and hostile, can't quite blame them. D: EPISODE 8 • I don't know what beef the author or whoever's in charge had with cowardly people, but that character surely got the worst angles all through the show. • I'm mad that they basically left everything that had me looking forward to season 2, for season 3. I'll now again have to forget this series exists so I won't live in torment waiting for more episodes...
