So I'm surprised I just never noticed all the M C Escher references in Suspiria before my latest rewatch

Not a feeling dumb sort of surprise though more of a hey that's cool to see something new (to me at least)

Plastercopy Madness Part 2

This post is just a followup to the last cause I took way too many photos of the plaster casts. I ended up choosing that haunted ass stairwell that connects the Gallery and Octagonal Room to the main hallway as the location for my photoshoot. This was an entirely purposeful decision and not made on a whim because it's always empty.

I thought the narrow old staircase and patchy plaster and paintwork gave the area an interesting vibe that's almost at odds with the rest of the school. There's an ominous Magdalene Laundry quality that persists here after having been extricated from the rest of the building. It's also a literal liminal space, which is basically the setting of every modern found footage horror.

I filmed a video with the idea being to mix the modern day found footage horror with the frustratingly stilted movement of a video game character. I wanted to keep the camera focused on the ceramic heads instead of looking down the hallway to create a feeling of unease in the viewer, like there might be something there just out of shot. I edited the video in Adobe Premiere Pro to try to give it the look of degraded film.

I've already written too much about what was a silly idea, so I'm gonna stop here.

I kind of like the look of the plaster cast sat atop the windowsill. There's something almost threatening or sinister about them.

I also accidentally made a little hemisphere when I misjudged how much plaster was needed for a mold. Somehow that one feels the most ominous of all, the ringleader of his ceramic brothers obviously.

Surprisingly I think the gradual loss of detail is actually more pronounced in this gif than the ones in my last post. It almost looks like some kind of stop motion body horror.

I'm actually most happy with the above little photoshoot on the staircase, which is funny cause I thought it looked so stupid while making it. It was just finally seeing them all together, and flipping and rotating them to create an M. C. Escher-esque endless staircase.

There's more I feel I could write to explain my thoughts on this but I think I'll leave it here now and maybe write an addendum later on.

Tengo una pequeña obsesión con los relojes de arena... de hecho no tengo un solo reloj convencional en casa pero si un par de arena y uno de sol. Me fascina ver deslizarse los granos, me da una sensación corpórea del tiempo.

El tiempo existe? Somos granos de arena?

El tiempo se mide al expresarlo en números, osea se le atribuye un lenguaje matemático y lo que mide es la separación entre sucesos, como por ejemplo la separación entre la noche y el día, convirtiendo los días en medida de tiempo y estableciendo una línea de tiempo entre el pasado, el presente y el futuro.

Ahora claro esto sólo ocurre en la dimensión 3d y en la Tierra. El tiempo no existe de esta manera en nuestra mente subconsciente ni tampoco en el espacio. Esto es porque lo que consideran tiempo es la rotacion de la Tierra sobre su propio eje. Así que el pasado, presente y futuro solo existe de la manera que se expresa el tiempo como magnitud según la física establecida.

Al igual que el concepto del espacio, también sujeta a las reglas físicas.

Es importante llegar a entender que existe un tiempo y un espacio fuera de estas reglas preestablecidas para poder llegar a comprender conceptos mas abstractos tanto como los sueños, como el acceso a diferentes mancias o como en el resto del Universo.

El secreto de la vida está en el espacio, lo mas profundo del ser es el inconsciente.

Un buen libro o una buena forma de transmitir conocimientos, son los que te hacen pensar y te hacen querer desarrollar a mas...

Tengo este libro desde hace mas de 13 años y sigo leyendolo y aprendiendo de él, he podido ampliar conocimientos y apreciar diferentes formas de ver algunos conceptos... en algunas cosas el tiempo y mis estudios han reafirmado conceptos que aparecen aquí y en otros casos no estoy tan de acuerdo porque he desarrollado de otra forma algunos de esos conceptos, como el darwinismo, por ejemplo.

O cosas como esto:

Me flipan estas cosas, en serio, sobre todo estudiarlas y comprenderlas desde diferentes puntos de vista. Cuando hay una coherencia entre mis aprendizajes esotericos y cientificos me vuela la mente sumida en felicidad absoluta... y cuando no es así, busco mas perspectivas y saco mis propias conclusiones, como por ejemplo con el concepto del tiempo y el espacio y así, así, así....

Porque todo tiene un sentido en la vida según diferentes puntos de vista.. o de oído.. o de otras formas mas allá de los sentidos
