I’m not the person you asked the question to, but for your question about Ambroise and Kit and gay subtext, I’d say that there’s certainly something there that I see why people would feel it, but personally I see more of a sibling relationship.

I think that it wouldn’t be weird if the story were to be an enemies to lovers, as the building blocks would be there, but it wouldn’t be weird for it to be an enemies to siblings. It depends on where you choose to take it next.

I see it more as siblings mainly because I’ve always read the story with a large age gap between the two. Ambroise feels significantly older than Kit, an so I never saw it as lovers because of that perspective. But, I don’t think that was ever explicitly mentioned, nor I don’t know if that was ever your intention. So it could’ve been a personal interpretation.

I see the potential for enemies to lovers too, like it is such a valid direction for the story, esp with that chapter where Ambrose is using his tie to strangle Kit, but my dumbass honestly saw that as the *most* sibling-esque kind of fight [now in hindsight after reading over it again, I see the enemies to lovers thing too] — but debasing Kit like a dog, making him crawl and then going frenzied and just looking at Kit fighting back like: “are you actually this clinically stupid?! Like you have objectively no chance of winning” but does that stop siblings fighting? Never. But I am delighted that some kind of sibling energy shined through a little in the story :D

I also think the age gap between Ambrose and Kit is significant, though I don’t think I ever said it — actually I think I made their age gap quite small which doesn’t make sense because Ambrose has his entire career all sorted out and so does his friends which would make him actually, closer to Jude’s age, around his thirties while Kit is in his early twenties and still trying to figure life out.

I would highly recommend to anyone that they read "The Princess and the Queen," version from Dangerous Women. Fire and Blood has a whole running narrative about maester bias, and a big part of Rhaenyra’s story there is how she's talked about. But the original P&Q was written for a general audience who just wanted to know more about the Dance. So he really cuts down (or had not yet written in) a lot of that other narrative Gydayn was trying to push. And I think it's interesting that when GRRM isn't trying (as much) to show how the maesters WANT people to think of Rhaenyra, two major scenes/matters are conspicuously absent: Her rant and 'jealousy' over Nettles, and the Rosby-Stokeworth debate.

Because w/o Rhaenyra asking Mysaria her input and Mysaria saying what she says to trigger Rhaenyra's jealousy, Rhaenyra's link to the letter calling for Nettles' execution is more tenuous and negligible. It becomes much more possible that someone forged a letter with her name on it and sent it to Manfyrd so Rhaenyra could lose another dragonrider....esp bc Rhaenrya rebuffs Alicent's plea to not kill off Aemond and Daemon/Nettles both were in the mission in the first place to kill Aemond...hmm.

On the one hand, I prefer Mysaria's character having more of a turning-point role on the F&B tale bc after this the next mentions before her death is Eustace claiming Mysaria told Helaena of Maelor's murder as explanation of why Helaena finally kills herself and then her for some reason telling Rhaenyra after one of the worst riots "against the coming dark, that this night would be worse than the last.", as told by Mushroom (though to be fair, this plus her cutting herself and "rag[e]"ing and "despair"ing were in P&Q--just no mention of Mushroom nor the part about Mushroom saying she sought comforts from him 🙄).

On the other hand, these events plus how Mysaria is described as being very witch like or magically threatening when she tells Rhaenyra abt Nettles, show a much more devious Mysaria who one could argue plots against her own material interests, bc there are still issue with the idea that she just decided to go all anti-royal baby rampage and "burn" everything she ever worked for...mainly how it could be too reproductive/baby-centric a motivation for someone as practical as Mysaria seemed to be and we really don't want another instance of a woman's anger or grief pathologized under the context of motherhood. And Mysaria--without the magical demon passage of her turning Rhaenyra against Nettles--saying "against the coming dark, that this night would be worse than the last" comes much more across as her just warning Rhaenyra of more riots instead of something much more ominous and posing herself as the only sort of succor Rhaenyra may have now. Perhaps Mysaria was even trying to get Rhaenyra to "buck up" or encourage her from her grief/rage to focus on things at hand, we don't know?

Again, it since Eustace writes that Rhaenrya couldn't trust anyone before Mysaria's reasoning against Nettles AND he writes what Rhaenyra says after Mysaria gives her input of an accusation of witchery, it lends more credence to the idea that this Faith-bound Rhaenyra-hating septon made up a bunch of shit or AT LEAST DISTORTED using accusations of witchery against Mysaria and used her voice to make as if Rhaenyra had similar concerns towards Nettles from Mysaria's rhetorical AND maybe "magical" persuasion. Which again lends more credence to the idea that Rhaenyra in fact did not send that letter to execute Nettles OR she only wanted her to return to KL to be arrested, as she had every intention of seizing Addam and they had been discussing Nettles before she made that choice.

Even w/the Rosby-Stokeworth was in P&Q, I wouldn't blame Rhaenyra much for that.

Overall, curious. At the same time, I can also very much see Rhaenyra just being genuinely misogynoirist bc of her social identity as a noble woman interwined with the stakes for her hold on her authority, esp how PatQ migh just be missing some of this bc GRRM didn't want to either spoil it or just thought of it for F&B after PatQ was published.

So I will keep to the Jezebel stuff i wrote for myself and others to weigh whenever considering F&B.

still on my reread of early twsb and... the inn mini arc is so good/important... i didnt realize how much when i first read... but like... (ch 46 thoughts IM PLAGUED BY THE #YESSAYS AGAIN)

the MC trio's personalities are all SO diff and up till now theyve had a lot of friction and only rly interacted together bc they were kind of forced to... But despite their stark diffs one of the main thing that unites them is they all have the same strong moral compass... like their morals r in alignment. They all can't stand seeing injustice... and their diff personalities give them diff approaches to solving the (same) problem; diff strengths filling in what the other lacks... but they have the same goal/their hearts r in the same place... I rly think this is the strongest thing that binds them together🥹 theyre all good kids...

This inn mini arc is the first time the MC trio r all united in thought and working together completely of their own volition (while they showed teamwork before, it was still in situations where they were basically forced to be together, e.g. training lessons or punishment)

But here they witness the same event and they all feel the same rage at the injustice and put aside their differences to make a plan...

yeseo's had a lot of misunderstandings/misreadings of cedric's behavior and saw him p unfavorably up to this point but thats slowly starting to change... im just gonna drop some liveblogs here skfjd

the fact that hes constantly checking cedric's reactions + trying to read what he's thinking/feeling in the moment... yeseo's empathy is 1 of his strongest traits imo and this an example of how he extends this to everyone (including the guy who he has thought of as a huge jerk all this time + is trying to avoid)

(and this is something I RLY rly love about yeseo... even w ppl he tries not to get close to/doesnt particularly like he still cant help but empathize with them? like even way before this when he concludes cedric must be entering the tournament to help his "son" who is in pain... and reasons that he must feel angry seeing chris freely mooch off yeseo's ether bc his "son" suffers from ether depletion... and when the 3 are assigned to clean the portal as punishment, and he's waiting outside w ced... notes that "he looks serious even from the side" and blurts without thinking "um... it will be okay, your royal highness." "...i am talking about Sadie." all these are examples of him extending empathy to cedric/thinking of him sympathetically (even tho he has the wrong idea)... He doesn't have to, but he does anyway, because that's the kind of person he naturally is... I really do think his strong empathy is 1 of his most prominent chara traits. 🥹❤️‍🔥)

idk if this is controversial but is the neurodivergent label actually helpful outside of activism? like as an allistic adhd person i only relate occasionally to autistic people (mainly sensory issues tbh or social stuff but then again i have mad anxiety) n p much not at all to dyslexic/dyspraxic/etc people (the question of whether ocd n bpd are considered neurodivergencies is another question). but i keep seeing videos n stuff about ‘nd traits’ or ‘calling all nds’ and it seems like it’s become a quirky shorthand mainly used by autistic/audhd people that doesn’t feel like it includes nd allistics? im not saying everything should be focused around me me me, just that if you mean autistic just say autistic rather than neurodivergent.

I guess this kinda ties in with the whole (saw a tiktok and did no actual research) self diagnosis/quirkification of nd + mental illness online. (I’m v much pro informed self dx bc of costs n accessibility n consequences of having an official dx esp for autistics w housing n kids). I also think even if ur diagnosed making light hearted ‘put a finger down nd edition’ videos should b done w caution bc they often inadvertently contribute to the trivialisation of the struggles faced by nd ppl. you have to be aware of who your content reaches- tt/ insta is v different from tumblr/reddit lol.

and while I’m on this rant I hate the ‘neurotypical bad and complicated, neurodivergent good and direct’ narrative too. neither is good nor bad, just different. you gotta find your people because no one owes it to you to change their entire communication style just for you. just like I have to make an effort to do small talk etc with nts I have to focus on what I’m saying and explicitly spell out certain things when talking to my autistic friends. I understand people are hurt by nts being unaccepting and actually ableist and so go into this ‘I’m special and better than them’ mindset but it’s just not helpful imo.

I also feel like nd people find it hard to accept that you can be hella annoying and people finding you annoying isn’t ableist. I can be annoying as fuck and I try not to be- instead of going ‘ugh I can’t help interrupting people all the time and never letting them finish a thought- they’re being ableist’, I try n number the ideas I’m having and wait for the other person to finish or say ‘hey can I quickly add something before I forget and then you can continue’ and listen if they tell me to hold on a sec. relationships are about compromise n that’s not ableist.

maybe it’s just me not feeling like I fit in the ‘adhd is a gift’ narrative or the neurodivergent movement. I hate having adhd and would do anything to not have it. I do struggle to call it a disability tbh but I accept that that’s partially internalized ableism bc I can temporarily convince myself that I can function unmedicated n then I have exams n I fall apart…

wuwa is a good game imo 👏 here are my thoughts bc I have so many thoughts abt it

TECHNICALITIES — the bugs + lagging can be an issue esp it had just been released (some can't even get pass the main screen i heard) there is also something abt the NPCs graphics that bothered me like there was a child in this side quest and her face was really blurry I thought she was a ghost 😭 and me too, sometimes I also get dizzy when I move in the game !! but the devs are working on it overtime and along with the compensation they are really generous too 🫡

STORY WISE — the opening scene is beautiful but it started at a mid start (?) like info dumping at the start honestly my brain can't catch up and no dialogue log too but the complexity of each character (they said that personalities are related to their abilities?) + the fact that your choices can affect the game over all I like how it has diff outcomes AND TERMINOLOGIES like "butterflies" and "echoes" small details but it really amazed me 🤍

EXPLORATION — tbh I went on exploring first before continuing the main quest 🧍‍♀️ I love how each characters have diff playstyle although it's hard to aim at the enemies... the chests especially the basic supply looks like a random box I didn't know it was a chest at first + the echo challenges (DEROGATORY 🤬) at first failing at challenge can be fun like u learn but WOW ESPECIALLY WHEN U TURN INTO THE BIRD ONES I HATE IT 😭

ECHOES — ITS FUN COLLECTING THEM 😍 I still don't get abt the rarity though + i'm for sure getting that inferno echo with the motorcycle

SIDE QUESTS — haven't done that much side quest to comment on this 😞
