Note
we have three alters who need help with their identities.
one is very cutesy, hyper femme egirl. she's been here for a little while. she wants things related to lovesick, gorey, and video game themes! she would like names, pronouns, and things she would enjoy.
the one is a bit confusing. they're not a human, they mimic humans. they don't talk often. they're very much connected to liminal horror. they want names and things to do. neutral names preferably.
the last one is connected to the umbrella academy. they're sourced specifically off of klaus and five. they want neutral or feminine names related to mystery, tarot, spirits, and time travel. they also want things to do, comforts, and pronouns.
Hello! I did my best with this one, and I hope it can help! However, I highly recommend googling the trigger warnings for the enjoyment recommendations. Particularly with the first alter, many of the things listed are either quite heavy, gorey, or just generally has potentially triggering content. Be safe and have a good day! :]

Mill Boy - F.W.
Mill Boy- Fred Weasley x fem!reader [1800s muggle!au]
warnings: mentions of child labor
word count: 3.4k
a/n: probably part one of a minseries? y/n and fred are about 10-11 in this so part ii could possibly be a timeskip
Tumblr media
“Mum, can I go play? Please?” you pleaded, doe eyes shiny and prominent. Your mother, a hard working housewife, was bent over the sturdy kitchen table, dousing dirty dishes in scalding water, preparing them to be piled with the beef warming in the flames of the stove across the airy kitchen.
“Fine, Y/N, just please don’t get your dress dirty. Your father worked hard to afford such a fine cotton. He wouldn’t be pleased to see it ruined, now would he?” You eagerly nodded in agreement, ready to go enjoy the meadows lying across the walls of your humble residence. It was a beautiful spring day, most enticing one yet. Birds fluttered through the lush, brilliant cedar trees, enjoying the tranquil air that comes with the season. Ox-eye daisies dotted the expansive hills, all the way down to the slowly trickling creek.
You slipped your muddied boots over the clean, cotton socks adorning your feet, grabbing your hat to shield your youthful eyes from the golden star above right after. You slipped it over your locks, which were neatly tied into pig-tails with silky, baby pink ribbons Mother bought you for your birthday.
You skipped through the propped back door, little giggles of delight humming through your throat. Any traces of the harsh winter that stormed the land only a few months prior were washed away with the glimmering sunlight, which coerced the wildflowers to bloom from buds to petaled cups of sweetness.
With a smile, you followed a path of vibrant, woolly blue violets, carefully plucking their stems for a nice arrangement to become the perfect centerpiece for dinner. The colour, in your opinion, complimented the pastel pinks of your dress perfectly, filling you with even more glee. How you wished that you could spend all your time out of the confines of buildings, having fun and being free of responsibility.
It was most unladylike to go splashing in the cool water of the stream, and you would surely be scolded for it if you chose to do so. You had attempted to conceal your submersion in the winding brook once before, but the liquidy footprints you left on the floors of your house quickly outed your escapade. Fearing another stern talk, which was not pleasant in the slightest, you simply skipped to its edge, astutely observing its reflective surface with admiration.
The crystalline liquid glossed over smooth stones adorned with moss so peacefully, its pace never wavering, not even for a second. The mere idea of something perpetually in motion, never having to stop and take a break, as you did many times after a long day of running in the fields, chasing butterflies, astounded you.
Everyone had to go to sleep, or stop for a breath every once in a while, right? Scampers, the stray which adored your family’s covered porch, went to bed at odd times, most often at noon. And yet, he still slept. The grocer down the lane kept his shop attended every time you’d visit, but the windows would soon be curtained and dim when the moon came out to rule the seemingly never ending sky.
You prodded the cool creek with your finger, letting the water continue to flow past it unbothered, as if it were nothing but another stray twig. The thirst for answers dripped down from your mind, enveloping your body in a sensation that couldn’t be mended by simply drinking the water. You were amazed, and you had to see more, know more. You followed the bends of the stream, far beyond the view of your house.
Nobody had ever outright stated that you shan’t see where it goes, where the water ends, so naturally you had to discover it yourself. Maybe you’d be met with a secret alcove, your own private pocket of the boundless world. Alternatively, maybe you would stumble across a small house entangled high up in the branches of a tree, and fly up to its entrance like a fairy from a tale recited before bed. Or even, most enticing of all, maybe there was a prince waiting for you where the water ends; a prince who’d sweep you off your feet, offering you a chance to live in a magnificent castle situated in a far away land.
You hummed songs that your frilly-dressed peers would chime in unison during recess, filling the still air. The toes of your boots leaped from one large rock to another, balancing on their flat surfaces like a game of hopscotch.
Tumblr media
The soft, sweet humming echoing through his cove from a ways down the creek instantly perked Fred’s curiosity, luring him in like a siren’s song. He halted his stick-poking of the ants inching up the burly trunk of the ancient tree, swinging his gingered-head down, so his vision lay unobscured by the low-hanging branches.
No one ever came to visit Fred when he lay slouched in the safe, knotted branches of his tree; whether it was because his family couldn’t locate him or the fact that they were aware that he needed a break, he didn’t know. Days spent in the mill were painful and excruciatingly long, so during the few spare moments he had to himself, he’d spend it talking to the lush wildlife surrounding him. He’d never be talked over by the weeds or birds, they’d just sit and listen, exactly what he needed.
He nearly fell to the grassy ground trying to find the source of the melodic songs, curious to see who dare disturb the previously hidden Fort Fred. He imagined himself as a skillful militiaman, like his brothers, ready to charge and overtake the enemy, even if the music-maker was nothing near a threat.
Just as he was about to jump down to investigate on his own two feet, the source was finally revealed. An absolutely beautiful girl- a princess, rather, approached the tree. She was dressed in a light pink gown, as if she had just come back from a royal ball. Her singing brought serenity all around, as if she were somehow communicating with the birds and butterflies, allowing them to chirp and flutter along. At the same time, however, her well-loved boots and hat altered her look to something of a daring adventurer, exploring the unknown paths of thicket.
“Hello,” you said angelically, clasping your hands together across your waist. You were completely surprised to meet a companion on your previously solo expedition, and a dashing, amiable one at that.
You’d never seen this particular boy at school before; he seemed different than all your icky male peers. The boys at school would tug on your pigtails during tests, claim you were infested with disgusting germs at recess, and chase you around the yard tauntingly. But this boy’s features resonated nothing but kindness: the crinkles around his eyes from smiling, light orange freckles all across his nose, his shaggy, fiery red hair topped with a patched-up flat cap.
Maybe there was a prince at the end of the brook after all.
The friendly-appearing boy hopped down from his perch in the tree, smoothing out the wrinkles and leaves in his suspendered trousers and white button up with a suspicious look. “And who would you be, miss?”
“Erm- my name’s Y/N. What’s your’s?” You couldn’t help but smile, and your cheeks prickled as if a ladybug were crawling across them.
He stepped closer to you, his composure open and honest. “I’m Fred, Fred Weasley. I live down the way, near the mill.”
“Nice to meet you, Fred Weasley.” You did a proper courtesy, just as you had been taught so many times before, then adding, “what’s a mill?”
Fred’s jaw dropped, as if it had no hinges. “You’re joking, right? You don’t know about the mill? I work there just about every day of the week.” He pointed further down the creek, opposite the direction of your house, astonishment swimming in his mahogany brown eyes.
“I’ve never heard anything of the sort. What do you do in a mill, exactly?”
“Well, there’re these big, loud machines that're always moving. They get power from this huge wooden wheel upstream that’s always spinning. They make tons of pieces of fabric out of wool. Maybe I even weaved some of the cloth used to make that very dress you’re wearing right now.”
You marvelled at his descriptions, even the simple way he spoke, articulated his words. Those utterly despicable boys at school would’ve just stuck their tongues out at you disrespectfully, not giving you the time of day, but Fred couldn’t be more different. He spoke to you as if you two were something of equals.
“Oh wow.” You were barely able to suppress a flustered giggle. Why were you feeling so, mushy around Fred, the sensation comparable only to the consistency of porridge? “I didn’t know you were so talented to do that.”
“Aww,” -he blushed, scratching the nape of his neck- “I mean, it’s not too difficult, you could probably do it if you tried. After a while ‘course.”
“Nonsense.” You not-so-nonchalantly rubbed your palms up and down your dress, noticing beads of perspiration accumulating on them. While doing so, the bushel of hooded violets resting in your pocket became evident. You pulled one from your stash, saying, “do you want one of my flowers? I picked them down near my house.”
Fred swore at any moment, if anything were so much as to touch him, he would burst. He’d never experienced these, admittedly strange, feelings before. It felt like his last meal wouldn’t settle in his stomach, or as if he’d just run a horse’s distance by the way his heart was pounding out of his chest. Was he sick? Should he go tell mum?
“I, erm, of course,” he stuttered, barely capable of moving his lips to form coherent words. “You have e-excellent taste in flowers, miss Y/N.”
“Thanks. I picked plenty, for a nice centerpiece at home. Mum always loves flowers.” You fiddled with the frills and layers of your dress, doing something to occupy your energetic fingers. Fred studied the flower intently with his brows furrowed, tugging on its petals and anthers.
After Fred was satisfied with his examination of the violet, he said, “you know, there’s some really pretty yellow flowers growing down by the mill. They’d go perfectly with these here.”
“Will you take me?”
“Of course I will. We’d best get going, though. Don’t wanna miss dinner.” Fred gestured for you to follow his lead, walking through the knee-high blades of grass as if he were wading through a river. When he quickly noticed your look of apprehension, not wanting to dirty your dress or have an unwanted animal encounter, he grabbed your palm with a grin, forcing you to trail behind him.
You two distantly followed the path of the creek, adventure flowing through both of your veins. Fred’s grip on your hand was gentle, despite the calloused patches scattered over his skin, no doubt a result of the ‘large machines’ he described working on in the mill.
After a while of giggling and jogging, the distant outline of a building across the stream was visible. Its four walls were composed of rough, grey stones used as bricks; it’s roof was sealed with jagged pieces of slate, some out of place. But the biggest surprise came not with the building itself, but to the right of it. A humongous, wooden wheel spun through the rill, rhythmically splashing the previously tranquil water as it continued flowing. It was as if everything today was out of a fairy tale, but this was the most outlandish of them all. A giant wheel, spinning in pace through the water?
“Well, we’re here.” While Fred usually dreaded returning back to the mill, as his time within the confines were never pleasant, tolerable at best, he was glad to be here with company and a different mission. He wasn’t going to be making fabric today, no, he was on the search for bundles of corn-yellow flowers, with the prettiest girl he’d ever laid eyes on. True royalty, a princess through and through.
“Wow. That wheel’s ginormous! How does it work?” This time, it was your mind that curiosity flooded, and it ceased to relent.
“Erm, I don’t exactly know. All I know is that the creek pushes the wheel, for some reason. I’ll ask Dad about it sometime, he’ll know.” You nodded appreciatively, satisfied at the promise of an answer.
“Now what do you say we go find some of those flowers?”
“Yes please!” You started peering around the water’s edge, attempting to spot any signs of cheerful, yellow flowers.
While you continued digging through ferns and bushes, searching for gold, Fred enchanted you from a distance across the shaded meadow. “I think my brother Percy said that the flowers are called Golden Alexanders. He’s one to always go a bit heavy on books during his breaks.”
‘You’ll have to ask your brother how they got their name. The first part’s fairly obvious, the Alexander portion not so much.”
“I’m gonna have to ask everyone in my family questions if I keep showing you new things by the looks of it,” he giggled, walking around the grassy plateau with his hand shielding his eyes from the setting sun.
“Teacher always tells me during lessons, ‘curiosity killed the cat’-”
“Poor kitty,” Fred muttered.
“-But satisfaction brought it back. So you best bring me back some answers tomorrow, because I don’t exactly fancy dying.” Fred’s eyes widened with his new, highly-important mission. “I’d at least wish to go out in a heroic way, not at the hands of my own unquenched curiosity.”
“That’s quite the big word.”
“I know, I learned it the other day!” you giggled, covering your toothy grin with your hand. “Isn’t it cool?” Fred responded with a handsome, wide smile and concurring nod. His eyes were filled to the brim with joy; they reminded you of warm evenings sitting around the crackling fire charring logs and embers.
You scourged through the brush for a while longer until the soothing trickling of water was interrupted by Fred’s distinct voice, shouting, “Oh, I think I found some o’er here!”
You skipped to Fred’s direction, the toes of your boots patting the grass lightly. Fred was leaning down over a small patch of Golden Alexanders, watching a few bumblebees buzz between the central stigmas protected in the wreaths of small petals.
Without thinking, you swiftly wrapped your arms around Fred, his back pressed to your chest tightly. “Thank you, Fred. These’ll look great. You’ve got quite the eagle eye.” Your cheeks burned, and your soft arms were swept with tiny goosebumps.
“It’s no problem, really. I’m just glad you’re happy.” You unleashed Fred from your grasp, nearly tumbling to the ground with flusteredness. The porridge-ish feeling was back, and your now-wobbly legs weren’t exempt. “Your smile’s contagious, you know.”
Fred’s reaction to your hug was slightly different, but equal in magnitude. His chest puffed as if it were fluttering with butterflies that would glide low near the grass, his neck, which tingled after your every exhale, was burning like brush, and his breath all but stopped, which he paid no mind to.
To distract himself from the foreign sensations racking his body, he pointed to the revolving wheel sputtering the crystalline, flowing water, saying, “Do you think it's possible for me to climb the wheel? I’d wager I could.”
“You’d be a madman if you did.” You daintily trailed behind him like a curious cat, spying on his actions from afar.
“Then I guess I’ve got to do it.” He stepped one foot on one of the damp wooden beams, which proved successful until the churning of the wheel shook off his balance. He stumped to the group with an ‘ow’, groaning, “Princess, you were supposed to catch me.”
“Sorry,” you cheekily giggled, suppressing your smile with your cupped palm. You looked in all directions but Fred’s to avoid an assumed scornful glare, but instead you were met with a chuckling redhead, his umber eyes screwed shut with laughter.
Childish titter occupied the still Spring air, blending in with the trickling water and occasional melody chirped by a lone sparrow or two. Your fingers intertwined with Fred’s to prevent you from falling backwards into the puddles of sludge strewn through the sunset-soaked blades of grass.
Eventually, Fred could be your stabilizing tether no longer, and you both fell backwards, hands still locked playfully. You started to get up from the soft cushion composed of a plethora of plants before the flat-capped ginger motioned for you to remain relaxed on the ground, the large tufts of your gown and all.
You complied, and before you knew it, you were making out the shapes of pink-hued clouds, improvising tales and fables to enchant Fred with.
“That one looks like a rabbit, doesn’t it?” you would say, or “that one looks like a mule-”
“-riding on a carriage!” Fred finished, giggling in unison with you. As your throat erupted with chuckles, you and the prince beside you clutched your stomachs which were rattling with joy.
After a while of staring up at the deepening sky, you said, “I think I’ve got to go back for dinner, Mum’ll be expecting me.” Fred immediately stood up, quick as a soldier, and he outstretched his arm chivalrously to help you sit up as well.
“I’ll walk you back, don’t worry. Who would I be to let a princess such as yourself brave the wilderness alone?”
“How kind of you, good sir,” you replied with a joking curtsy and exaggerated accent dripping with poshness. Your fingers intertwined with Fred’s again for the second time that day, and this time they felt more familiar, as if you could pinpoint every sun-owing freckle or crease in his pale skin.
Your connected arms swung rhythmically as you both relaxedly walked towards the direction of your humble residence, careful to avoid stepping on dotted ladybugs that scurried through the grass. Occasionally, you or Fred would release a clever wisecrack or randomly twirl, basking in the pink rays of sunshine that gradually depleted, but for most of the trek home, you stayed quiet, simply enjoying each other’s company: a luxury that was hard to come by in Fred’s house of nine.
When your house was finally visible on the thin line of the horizon, Fred’s eyes couldn’t help but light up. Your home didn’t look much different than the Weasley’s, save for its size being half as big. Your chimney wasn’t as crooked and worn by the elements as the gingered clan’s was either, but the young boy didn’t seem to notice. All he could see was an elegant castle suited for no one but the best.
At long last, you arrived on your back porch. The door was wide open, where your mother leaned her aproned hips against the frame with a smile. Wonderful aromas wafted from the kitchen to you and Fred’s nostrils, beckoning you to take a seat at the dinner table and dig in. “Now who might this be, Y/N?”
“My name’s Fredrick Weasley ma’am.” Youthfulness glinted his eyes as he reached his hand to shake your mother’s. “I go by Fred.”
“You’ve got quite the firm shake,” she said, suppressing a chuckle, “I hope you and Y/N had fun today? By the look of her dress, she did.”
Your cheeks burned like a tin fresh out of the oven as you looked down in horror to see brown splotches of dirt strewn across the fluff and frills. “Mum, I-”
“Shh, Y/N, don’t worry about it,” you mother cooed in a whisper, eyeing the oblivious redheaded boy next to you, who was equally smudged with mud but complemented with a sweet, wide-mouthed smile.
“Well, Y/N dear, it’s dinner time. Does your guest Mister Weasley care to join us?”
“No thank you, Miss Y/L/N, I’ve got to be on my way back to my home as well.” Fred pulled you closer to him, so that your chest was mere inches away from his’. A sudden burst of confidence pumped through his veins, and with that, he gave a light pack to your cheek.
Your eyes widened with shock; his lips left a tingly imprint on your nerves as he turned back around towards the creek. I’ll never wash my face again, you thought, cupping your cheek with your palm.
“Bye princess, I’ll see you tomorrow, promise?” he shouted, giving you a final wave.
“Promise. Bye, Mill Boy. See you then!” And with that, he was off following towards the water in which he came, the orange sunlight turning his figure into a fading silhouette.

To @patricia-von-arundel, who is the most wonderful woman in this world and the love of my life. Thank you for changing everything. 💜
〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️
Byleth was late. Byleth was never late. It was part of her mercenary training: timing is vital for a mercenary.
Edelgard also knew her schedule and she was always in her study at that time of the day, so why wasn’t she, today of all days? She was sitting at the table, the teapot in the middle, pastries on an elaborated tray. It had taken her 5 attempts to manage to brew tea the way Byleth did; not Bergamot this time, a rare, exotic green tea that Byleth had been looking for for a while. She really hoped she had made it right... At least she knew the pastries were good. She had spent a week practicing, burned a ton (when they actually reached the oven), made a mess balancing the ingredients more times than she could count. She probably fed all the fauna in Enbar, rats included. Damn! She threw away and distributed so many of her disasters to the animals there that one day she had found a rat waiting outside of the kitchens! She couldn’t help a yelp and had Hubert running in, his hands wrapped in dark magic, ready to fight a monster probably. He had almost pulverized the small beast. He would have if she hadn’t stopped him. She hated the damn rats, but she had seen the tiny mice waiting under a bush nearby and realized that bold critter was trying to feed its family. Thinking about family made her soft. Silly. She had taken an half burned cookie from the bag, cut it into pieces and thrown it to the rat. Then she had shut the door as fast as she could, hands shaking. Stupid. But the cookies were perfect today. So was the tea, as far as she could tell. The teapot and teacups were matching and matched the colors of the glaze: a mix of red and blue that reminded her of them. Everything was where it was supposed to be, except for Byleth. She stood up and started pacing; she went back and forth, from the table to the window, three times, then three more, to check the gardens, but also to be able to think. She looked at her own reflection in the glass. She wasn’t wearing her regalia; in its place, a much more simple attire, more practical, something that would have been comfortable enough for basically anything, fishing included. Long, stretchy, black riding pants, a jacket with golden buttons and red trimmings, a white blouse with golden embroideries barely visible under it. The high boots completed the unusual look. Her long, white hair was loose, with only the two familiar ribbons adorning it. It looked a bit different from her Garreg Mach days, a little bit more savage, perhaps, free to move when she did, occasionally forcing her to brush them aside from her eyes; it often leant on her shoulders, caressing her cheeks. She found it unnerving, but Byleth found it cute. Only six month...and she looked so different. It wasn’t just her outfit - that was just for the day - or the absence of the crown. Her posture wasn’t as tense, her eyes were still sharp, but not as angry, and the faint smile that curved her lips when she thought that it was all because of Byleth was natural and sweet. She still had bad days, she still felt overwhelmed by all the responsibilities, by how demanding her routine could be, sometimes she still felt exhausted in the evening. She still had nightmares from time to time. Not everything was perfect as the tea table set behind her, but...Byleth was there on the bad days as she was on the bright ones, reminding her everything was going to be alright. When she felt overwhelmed, she took her hand, made her take a break, let her rest her head on her shoulder and told her stories, beautiful stories and dreams. She told her about how they were making them true. When she woke up shaking from a nightmare, she could hide in her arms, listening to her heart beat until hers stopped screaming and running. The reason her shoulders and back weren’t stiff today was that Byleth had massaged them gently yesterday, washing all the tension from the day away before going to bed. She had taken that habit after seeing her in pain. Edelgard had protested more than once, but they were both stubborn and, in the end, she had realized that Byleth loved feeling her melt under her touch. She sighed at the thought: she could almost feel it... Hearing the door brought her back to reality. She blushed realizing Byleth had chosen that exact moment to come in. She shook her head to chase away that thought that still made her shiver. Even being late, her timing sure was perfect. She let out a very different sigh.
Byleth looked at the table, then at Edelgard, a warm smile making her eyes shine in a way that was getting more and more common. Edelgard had to fight the instinct to run to her and kiss her until the tea got cold. She gestured for her to sit and went back to her chair, pouring some tea for them both before doing the same. Byleth kept observing her every move, a faint smile still on her face. “Thank you, El.” “There is no reason to thank me. At least try the tea first: I don’t have your expertise.” Edelgard stared while she took a sip, almost holding her breath. Byleth  widened her eyes in surprise. “You found it! Oh, El...” Her eyes were so hard to read now, but also so warm... “it’s perfect, just perfect.” Edelgard was suddenly aware of how rigidly she was sitting. She let go. “I want to make today perfect.” “You always want to make things perfect, El.” Byleth teased. “This is different.” She was sulking just a bit, then her voice grew softer. “Today is special.” “Is it?” “Do you remember what happened six months ago?” “We won the war. Is it why we’re celebrating?” Edelgard sighed, playing with her ring with her other hand. Byleth could be so oblivious sometimes! It didn’t hurt her. She knew her well, she knew she loved her. She was just...Byleth. “It’s been six months since the day you gave me this ring, the day I knew you wanted to stay, you were choosing me...” she hesitated “forever.” Byleth tilted her head. “Why do people care about this kind of things? I love you every day, I feel lucky every day I spend by your side. Why should today be different?” Edelgard giggled. That was so very Byleth and so sweet. She didn’t care at all that she forgot about their anniversary: she just wanted to look that beautiful woman in the eyes, tell her what a gift she was and kiss the crumbs off her lips. Speaking of crumbs, Byleth was staring at the other half of a cookie in her hand. “This is peculiar.” “In what sense?” She tried to hide the worried note in her voice. “They’re different from any I’ve found around here. Very rich on cinnamon. Are the cookies exotic too?” Edelgard paled. “Is something wrong with them?” “No, not at all. I actually like them a lot. I want to know where I can find them.” Edelgard’s cheeks turned a delightful red. “I...m-made them.” “That’s great! That sure makes it easy to get more!” She looked like a happy kid. Edelgard’s smile was smug and wide. “You can have them anytime, my love.”
After finishing their tea, it was time for the next step. Edelgard had thought about that day a lot, about what Byleth would have loved, but, in the end, she had realized Byleth was still learning that herself, so the best gift she could offer her was probably a day to just improvise and discover things together. No planning for once. “I cleared my schedule for today.  As I said, I want to make this day perfect for you, so...make a wish, make all the wishes you can think of. We can do anything. Today, I’ll be the one following you.” “No plans, no organizing, no schedules, nothing?”  Byleth raised an eyebrow, teasing again. “Don’t make me regret it!” “I promise you won’t.” The smirk on her face made her wonder which troubles she had just gotten herself into.”
To Edelgard’s surprised, Byleth’s first request was to go to town for some shopping. Even stranger, she came back with an elegant pair of trousers a formal jacket and a blouse, an outfit that looked like a fancier version of what Edelgard was wearing. She sure appreciated seeing it on Byleth. She tried not to stare. And failed. Byleth giggled.
Their second stop was at a flower shop. Byleth went in alone and came out with some roses and a carnation plant in a vase. She offered it to Edelgard with a smile. “I thought you could like a plant for your study or we could keep it in our room. I prefer plants to flowers. Flowers die. This plant is something we can keep and nourish. And I want to give you life.” The look on Edelgard’s face went from confusion, to surprise, to endearment. The way Byleth thought sure was weird, but so was hers and they could understand  each other amazingly well. She had appreciated and cherished all the flowers Byleth had given her in their monastery days, but she knew she would have loved this plant a hundred times more. She loved how Byleth had started questioning things, reading them in a completely different wa now that her emotions were so much stronger. She wondered how hard and exciting everything could be to her. That was part of why she had structured the day like that, after all: she wanted Byleth to express herself.
Byleth’s third request surprised her in a different way. She asked to go by the river, right south from Embar, to the cove where it met the see. She hadn’t been there in years, so many years... Walking there with Byleth felt so nostalgic and so different at the same time… She could feel her hand in hers, holding gently, but firmly. She could feel the warmth of her skin and the marks left by the sword. Familiar. Reassuring. She had run to the cove many times in the past, wild and excited, but it was another time, another life, another El. Walking there like this felt a bit like going back, a bit like going on. She turned toward Byleth. “Have I ever told you about where my love for the opera comes from?” Byleth shook her head. “One of my older sisters was very fond of the opera. I was still too young to be brought to the theater and definitely too young to properly understand it, so were most of my brothers. One day we teased her a little too much about her daydreams and ended up making her cry, so later we wanted to surprise her, to make up for it. We asked our oldest brother; he tried to explain us what an opera play was at his best and we went to the cove and tried to set up a show for her. She was so happy and we had so much fun that we decided to make it a small ritual between us. We did it every time one of us was down or when we wanted to celebrate something. It was a way to tell each other ‘I love you’. I started to grow pretty fond of it myself. One day, my sister took us girls apart and told us our father was concerned about our future, that she could see it, that he had told her; she believed she was going to be engaged soon and that we would have followed. She was a very romantic young girl, always reading some love story or daydreaming about her future husband. She asked us to celebrate the day of her engagement with one of our plays, one inspired by the cheesy stories she liked. I said I wanted an adventurous tale for mine, full of swords and mighty fights. She told us we could all choose one, that that could be another little siblings rituals. When she told the boys, they all made faces, but they all agreed in the end. It was very silly. It was the week before I was taken to Faerghus.” She stopped, staring into the distance for a few seconds, then shook her head again. “Sorry, I rambled.” Byleth smiled. “The story of the heroic imperial princess who fought terrible monsters and saved the innocents, uh?” She glared at her. “Don’t laugh at me!” She didn’t sound truly irritated. “I’m not. Actually...that’s more or less what happened.” Edelgard’s eyes met hers. “Don’t laugh at me.” She sounded sad and bitter. “I am not. You changed everything, El.”
There was a strict passage between high rocks to cross before reaching the shore. It looked smaller now, tighter. Edelgard sure didn’t mind walking pressed against Byleth. Once they crossed it and got to the other side, she froze. There was a stage on the sand, not made of old boards and branches found on the shore, a real one. The curtains were fancy and velvety, not white sheets and colorful blankets stolen from the palace. (How many times had the servants yelled at them?) There was a huge blanket on the sand in front of the stage, with a full dinner for two displayed on it. Hubert was standing at its right. He bowed and gestured them to sit. Byleth nodded. “Thank you, Hubert.” He showed them a small grin in response. “Anything for Lady Edelgard.” Edelgard shifted her focus from one to the other, then gave Byleth a questioning look. “You hadn’t told me about that story, not until today. But...Hubert did, a few weeks ago. He was there too.” She explained. “When I told him I wanted to organize something special for you and that I was thinking about bringing you here and to the opera right after, he told me about the past. He wanted me to be aware and careful. I thought about something else.” “You...” but the curtain opened. To Edelgard’s surprise, it was Dorothea appearing on the scene. She hadn’t properly been back to the company after the war, but she still liked to perform from time to time, as a hobby now. She had convinced the Mittelfrank company to do her a favor that day. Manuela had written the script. For a while, Edelgard wondered why her former classmate wasn’t playing the main part, the emperor's part, then remembered her own words, years ago, when she had said that no story about her would have been complete without a Dorothea. The fact that she wanted to strangle both her and Byleth for making a play about her was soon forgotten, except for when Dorothea sang that song from their Garreg Mach days again. ‘Hail the mighty Edelgard...’ The mighty Edelgard was as red as her regalia. Byleth made a comment about it being a shame that she wasn’t wearing it, that earned her a very cute glare.
At the end of the play, Edelgard was at a loss for words. When Dorothea approached them and Byleth handed her the roses, she wanted to say thanks, but all that came out was “Why?” “Byleth contacted me around a month ago, telling me about her crazy plan for your anniversary, so I pulled some strings. She also helped me setting things up this morning, before Hubert could get here without raising suspicions.” She winked. That’s why she was late... Then another thought crossed Edelgard's mind, making her frown. “Anniversary?” Her eyes moved from Dorothea to Byleth. “You were wondering why people actually cared about it earlier.” Byleth grinned. “I was. And I still believe what I said. I love you every day. I feel lucky to be with you every day. Anniversaries aren’t different. But...why would I miss a chance to make you smile?” She smirked. “You liar!” Edelgard was only half-pretending to sulk. Byleth greened. “I didn’t lie. I didn’t say anything that wasn’t true.” It looked like deceiving could be vital for a mercenary too.

22, 82 and 75 please 😊
22 - would you ever want to swim with sharks?
I dont really enjoy the idea of having a limb bitten off lmao so if they're dangerous sharks then no. But not all of then are dangerous, and swimming in a turquoise ocean is one of my favourite things. I only got to experience it for the first time a few years ago, in a little cove off the Mediterranean coast, and there were so many colourful fish darting around. That coastline is one of my favourite memories. If I could swim with more marine life without fear of injury, then absolutely yes.
75 - do you study better with or without music?
Definitely with. I got in so much trouble growing up because my dad refused to let me play music but I cant stand silence. I'm currently not even learning anything and I have a fan on and rain sounds. I used to play a lot of videogame soundtracks and also Session by Linkin Park when I was doing homework, but...this is also bearing in mind I didnt know I had ADHD til I was 21. I have pretty much only negative experiences with the standard educational system and have been working to figure out how best to learn things since then. I'm still working on it. But as a current 30yo...I mostly just dont study lmao I do things that allow me to absorb knowledge - such as watching K dramas to learn Korean - but I dont often "study" as such
82 - favourite type of cookie?
I dont actually have much of a sweet tooth 😅 I get a shit ton of unhealthy savoury cravings to make up for it heh. But if I ever want a cookie, its gotta be chewy and soft in the middle. Probably vanilla with strawberry pieces, or chocolate chip, or double chocolate. But if given the option, I'll probably always take a strawberry mochi over a cookie, and I'll most likely want something savoury before either of those. Is pizza a cookie?

Party in the Forbidden Forest
I tried.
Note: There are numerous changes that I’ve made to the typical wtFOCK storyline to make due. For starters, Aaron is going to be around the entire time and so is Sander (and Bel!Yousef, when I get his bloody name). Also, Sander, Senne, and Noor (and other characters around that age) were knocked back a year so I wouldn’t have to do a ton of manipulating to allow Robbe’s ‘season’ to be before Sander graduated. This section takes place at the end of Zoë’s season, meant to be the party where she gives Senne the key to the flatshare.
Simply because it’s mentioned, Robbe stayed with Milan/Zoë over Christmas Break so he wouldn’t be alone at Hogwarts or with his Dad (because something happened with his mom and he couldn’t stay with her).
In addition, they also make references to a previous section I posted where they met in an abandoned classroom. However, I wrote it before I decided to cut Sander/Senne’s ages so Robbe is referenced as a fourth-year and Sander is a sixth-year (and it’s mentioned to be summer), but I’ll have those changes fixed when I actually get to that section of Jana’s storyline.
I hope you guys enjoy!
...
Robbe didn’t know how Senne and the other Beat Boys managed to do it. Planning a party right under the noses of the teachers was one thing. Making the said “party of the century” in the Forbidden Forest on the final day that the students would be in Hogwarts for the year was another thing altogether.
The clearing that they had found was a short straight shot into the Forbidden Forest. The path had been lit by small fairy lights that only lit up as they approached the edge of the forest, leading them on a small journey to the clearing. Lanterns hovered around the edges of the clearing, showing where the other students shouldn’t be going to, and multi-colored flames hidden behind the glass which alternated between colors on a few minutes scale.
“There’s Amber,” Aaron noted, his eyes flickering over to the punch table. Robbe glanced over, spotting Amber standing with Luca, talking excitedly about something or another. The Slytherin girl had dressed in a pair of jeans and a pink t-shirt, her blonde hair half-pulled back on her head, laughing with Luca. Robbe snuck a glance at Aaron, who had been hard-core crushing on Amber for about six months now. “This is the night, I can feel it.”
Robbe, who had been the witness of Aaron crashing and burning several times in his past attempts of getting Amber to notice his existence, knew that tonight was not the night. But, Jens and Moyo hyped the curly-haired Hufflepuff up, wrapped their arms around him, steering him in Amber’s general direction, and leaving Robbe behind. But, as much as watching Aaron’s likely epic fail might be amusing, he couldn’t bear witness to it all tonight, to listen to his friends try and make it seem like everything was okay.
Robbe’s phone dinged and he pulled it out of his pocket.
Zoë: I see you looking glum over there. Come join the party.
Robbe glanced up, finding Zoë standing on the other side of the clearing. She was half-wrapped up in Senne’s embrace, her hair immaculate and bright red lipstick shining on her lips. She was dressed in a white top and blue denim jeans. Spotting his gaze, she waved him over smiling at him. But, Robbe shook his head.
Robbe: Not feeling up to it tonight. Jens dragged me along.
Zoë pouted at him and it earned half of a chuckle.
Zoë: Have you heard from your mama?
Robbe: Yeah, she’s settling into the hospital alright. Once we get settled in, I’m going to go see her.
Zoë nodded her head, typing out another message. Senne was half-leaning over her shoulder to see the messages and, a moment later, found him across the party and waved at him. Robbe gave him a half-wave and his phone buzzed in his hand.
Zoë: Well, I know you’re worried about her, but try to relax somehow.
Zoë: We just completed our O.W.L.s. I know that you and Yasmina have been studying hard for it so try to relax okay 😊
Zoë: Try the punch, it’s a mixture of butterbeer and firewhiskey. Luka’s specialty. 😉
Robbe glanced towards Zoë confused, only to find that Senne had Zoë’s phone. The blonde had her hands on her hips, rolling her eyes affectionately, and Robbe chuckled to himself, thanking Senne in one final text message, who gave him a thumbs up from across the party. Zoë laughed, leaning into Senne’s embrace as he held her tightly, and Robbe felt his stomach churn a little bit. Shoving his phone in his pocket and ignoring the feeling in his stomach, Robbe went to grab a glass of punch.
The rest of his friends were having a good time, talking with one another, but Robbe couldn’t help but feel left out of it all. Jens was laughing with Moyo as Aaron fumbled his way into another epic crash and burn, which ended with Amber rolling her eyes and moving away with Luca, who was giggling. Jana was in the middle of the clearing, with Zoë and Senne and Luka, dancing and laughing. Even Yasmina, who rarely joined parties, was talking with some of the other Ravenclaws, likely trading answers from their O.W.L.s, but Robbe couldn’t join them.
He felt out of place, on the outside of the room with no way to get in.
Pulling out his phone again and drowning the rest of his drink, Robbe opened up his messages, finding his messages with Milan. As soon as he spotted Milan’s picture, the one that Milan had taken himself when he snatched Robbe’s phone over the Christmas break, he felt the guilt swarming back in his gut, the final remains of the anger and stress that had seeped out when Milan had simply been the messenger.
“Stay away from me!”
Leaning against the tree behind him, Robbe typed out a message, pressing send before he could talk himself out of it.
Robbe: I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to lash out at you.
Robbe didn’t have to wait long before three dots popped back up, signaling that Milan was writing a response back to him. They disappeared, but only briefly before the text finally came through.
Milan: It’s okay. I understand. You were stressed about your O.W.L.s and I certainly didn’t help it.
Milan: But, no ill will, I promise! I’ve already got the room ready for you. And, since the room is yours permanently now, we can go out and find some posters that you can hang on the wall. If you want, that is.
Robbe: Sounds nice. Thanks.
“Care for a refill?”
Robbe glanced up, spotting another glass of the punch outstretched towards him. Following the leather-clad arm up to the face of its owner, trying to attest that his mind wasn’t playing tricks on him, Robbe found Sander Driesen standing in front of him. The sixth-year Slytherin was dressed in a pair of denim jeans, a t-shirt with a graph that he didn’t recognize, and his signature boots. Beneath the multi-colored flames of the lanterns, his platinum-blond hair shifted with the color of the lights and Sander grinned at him. His stomach did an unexpected somersault.
Swallowing, Robbe nodded his head, reaching out to take the cup from his hand, “Yes, thank you.” It was a small cup and Robbe’s fingers brushed against Sander’s as he took it. He placed the new cup into the empty cup and settled against the trunk of the tree, his eyes flickering over to the dancing in the middle of the clearing. In the throng of the party, he could see couples kissing and dancing,
To his surprise, Sander leaned against the tree as well, bringing Robbe’s attention back to him as he brought his own cup to his lips to take a sip. Once he spotted that Robbe was looking at him, Sander scoffed, “I didn’t poison it, by the way.”
Robbe blinked, confused at what he meant, but then he remembered their last conversation, the one in Robbe’s favorite classroom, his hidden cove in Hogwarts, and Robbe rolled his eyes, “I wasn’t thinking that it was poisoned!” As if to prove his point, Robbe took a drink and Sander laughed, his eyes scrunching up as he did. “Honestly, if you keep saying that, I’m just going to start to assume that everything you give me is going to be poisoned. Do I need to have a bezoar in my pocket at all times with you?”
Sander laughed, shaking his head as he did so. “How did your O.W.L.s end up going?” Robbe glanced up at him and Sander added, “Zoë mentioned that you were stressing out about them.”
“I think they went pretty good,” Robbe admitted. “I’m sure I did a lot better than Jens did. He’s been so wrapped up in Quidditch and everything that he didn’t study as much as he wanted to.”
Sander’s eyebrows furrowed, turning towards him. “You’ve been pretty wrapped up in Quidditch too though, right? I mean, it was Gryffindor and Ravenclaw in the final match.” Robbe nodded his head. “I guess you’re just better at prioritizing what you need to focus on more than he can. Since the final match, I’ve seen him practically drowning in the library, trying to get caught up on everything.” Robbe chuckled, laughing at the image. “How’s everything going with that? The two of you seem to be getting along again.”
Robbe glanced up at him.
Sander was staring off in the direction of the party, watching the crowd move around in anticipation for whatever’s next. When the blond realized that he hadn’t responded, he glanced back over to Robbe and blinked at him, “What?”
“I don’t know,” Robbe remarked. “I just didn’t realize you would remember that is all.” There was a confused expression on the blond’s face, tilting his head to the side, but before Sander could question again, though he was unsure why he would tell him, Robbe added, lightly, “And, since you’re wondering, I got over it.”
“Oh?” Sander questioned, raising an eyebrow.
“Yeah,” Robbe replied, shrugging his shoulders. Eager to do anything else than stare at Sander, he took another sip of the drink that the blond had given him. “He only sees me as a best friend and a brother so it wouldn’t be a good thing to hold onto something that would never turn out the way that I want it to.” Sander nodded his head, taking a drink. His eyes moved back to the party, the flames making his hair look a dazzling shade of Slytherin green, and Robbe stared at him, a knot forming deep in his throat as he managed to get out, “What about you?”
“Hmm,” Sander questioned, turning back to him.
“Before the break, you were talking about how you knew what it was like to be in love with someone that didn’t return your feelings or didn’t know,” Robbe spoke up. For a brief moment, Sander simply stared at him, his eyes wide and his mouth dropped a little, staring at him. Robbe swallowed, worried that he had said the wrong thing, and hastily added, “You mentioned it last time…”
“I know,” Sander replied, shaking his head. “I just… I guess I didn’t expect you to remember it is all.”
“Oh,” Robbe mumbled.
“But, the jury is still out for me,” Sander admitted, shrugging his shoulders. “They could like me back, or at least in some capacity, but I’m not quite sure that they know it yet.” Before Robbe could question further, Sander moved to the punch bowl, grabbing a new cup and pouring several drinks into the cup. Then, he returned to Robbe, placing a straw in the drink. “Here, take a drink. It’s my specialty and a whole lot better than the one Luka always makes.”
“Did you poison it?” Robbe questioned, glancing down at the cup and feeling a smile creep onto his face.
Sander looked offended, placing a hand over his chest. “How dare you,” the Slytherin spoke. “Because of that comment, you definitely have to drink it now.” He took a step closer, raising the cup out for Robbe to take from him. “Get ready to get mindblown.” The Slytherin was standing so close now… should he be standing that close? Robbe didn’t know for sure.
He could tell that the clearing was beginning to spin, his heart racing briefly in his chest, and Sander was right there in front of him, waiting for him to reach out and take the cup from his hand, but Robbe felt like he couldn’t move his arms. Without thinking, he glanced down at the straw, raising his eyes back to meet Sander’s green eyes, and dropped his mouth open slightly. Even with the minimum lighting on the edges of the clearing, he could see Sander’s eyes widen and Robbe felt like he needed to correct his mistake, to reach up and take the glass. But, then, Sander took another step closer, reaching up to place the straw against his bottom lip.
Robbe took a sip, feeling the mixture of alcohol and sweetness pour into his mouth. The concoction registered briefly on Robbe’s tongue, on his tastebuds, before disappearing completely down his throat and it was one of the best drinks that he had. It was better than any concoction that Moyo tried making or the combination of weed and alcohol. Robbe took another drink, swallowing it, trying to savor it before he let go of the straw.
But, Sander didn’t step away, a nervous smile crossing his features. “Best drink ever?”
Robbe nodded his head, affirming, “Best drink ever.”
Sander smiled, the kind that made his eyes crinkle, and the Slytherin shifted to his heels, reaching up to take a drink of it himself. His lips wrapped around the edge of the straw and his eyes never left Robbe’s. Sander opened his mouth to say something else, and Robbe felt his chest tighten considerably, the good kind, but his voice didn’t come out of his mouth, “Sander! There you are!”
The shout felt like a bucket of ice-cold water dropped over Robbe’s shoulders, jolting him back into the reality of the present. The party came rushing back with the music and the multi-colored flames and his mom and he was moving in with Milan and Zoë because… Robbe let out a breath, sinking back into the bark of the tree that he had been resting on, and Sander shifted a step back away from him, moving towards the source of the voice.
“I didn’t think you were going to make it,” Britt purred, reaching up to wrap her arms around Sander’s neck and press a kiss against his lips. Robbe swallowed, glancing down at his shoes, bringing the remainder of his own drink back to his lips to take a drink. But, it isn’t the same. “Hey, Robbe,” Britt spoke, turning towards him, grinning. The Slytherin girl had the tips of her blonde hair charmed dark green, dressed in a black dress that fit her, and she had a tipsy grin on her face. “Thank you for keeping Sander company. I know he can be annoying at times.”
Unable to form the words, Robbe shook his head, glancing over to Sander, who was resting against Britt with one arm, the one without the drink, around her waist, giving Robbe a shy smile. He wasn’t annoying.
“Come on, babe,” Britt spoke, turning fully back to Sander. “Let’s dance.” Her eyes glanced briefly down to the drink in his hand. “Oh, are you sure-”
“It’s Robbe’s,” Sander spoke, quickly. He moved back to Robbe, handing him the glass with a smile on his face. “Have a good summer, Robbe.” Then, Britt was taking his hand and dragging him out to the middle of the clearing, pulling him close to her.
For several moments, Robbe watched the two of them, happy and dancing, before he moved back to the drinks in his hand, drowning one and the other soon after. Robbe let out a heavy sigh, leaning back against the tree. Glancing back at the party, his eyes found Jens, who was talking it up and laughing with the other guys, and then Sander, in the middle of the clearing, his face pressed in the nook of Britt’s neck as they swayed together to the slow song that had come on.
Swallowing, unable to think of it, Robbe pulled his phone back out, finding a new message from Milan.
Milan: You’re welcome! It’ll be the best summer ever. I promise!
Robbe let out a sigh. As much as he admired Milan’s ability to try and make everything better, he somehow doubted that to be the case.

Wave 1 Lagoona Blue Diary
6/30
Just got back from visiting some of my cousins up north. They have some real monster surf up there but the water is cold enough to turn you blue...hee hee...and the beaches are all rocky so no screech volleyball. Anyway I’m glad to be home where the water is warm the beaches are sand and life is scary good.
7/15
Sweet rainy day today. Went for a run on the beach in the soft sand and I didn’t dry out once. It was raining so hard it was almost like going for a long swim on the beach. Tow. Tuh. Lee. Awesome!
7/18
Chilled with Draculaura, who’s a vegetarian and Clawdeen Wolf who is definitely not, to graze some screechza today. So we had one soy cheese, one double everything meat and one anchovy. We had a scary good time after that trying on bikinis although it was kind of a bummer for Draculaura cause she can’t really lay out in the sun or she’ll burn. She didn’t seem to mind though and we told her that we’d happy to catch some moonbeams any time she wanted.
7/20
The surf wasn’t totally dead today but it was definitely on life support - there were a bunch of gremlins hanging around trying to learn how to surf on the few ankle snappers that did roll in so I spent the day helping them which is scary cool especially when I see how excited they get after they finally catch their first wave.
7/21
Invited everybody over for a totally dank bonfire on the beach last night. It was a gnashing good time and even Clawdeen Wolf and Cleo de Nile got along...well they didn’t really say anything to each other and they sat on opposite sides of the fire all night but for them that’s like being best monster friends forever. Sometimes I wish everybody could just hang loose and chill about stuff that doesn’t matter. I mean we’re all monsters right? But I guess it’s pretty far out to think that just because sharks and dolphins share the same ocean it means they’re going to hang out and be friends. Of course that doesn’t mean I’m going to stop trying to make it happen.
7/22
I had the most embarrassing moment of my life today. I was just about to get out of the water with my board when I noticed these really cute monster bro’s playing screech volleyball. I mean like totally creepy cute. So anyway as I was standing there like a piece of driftwood watching them Neptuna swam up behind me and nipped me on the heel. I was totally not expecting that and I let out a squeal. It must have been pretty loud cause the monster bro’s all turned around and looked at me. I was going to just turn around and jump back in the water but I forgot my surfboard leash was still attached and I tripped over it and landed face first in the sand. To make matters worse I knocked the breath out of myself and was flopping around in the sand like a fresh caught mackerel. Pretty soon I had these four cute monsters trying to help me up and make sure I was okay but all I wanted to do was swim away as fast as I could. I’m going to have to change my name and move to a fishbowl in the desert...
8/9
So I went to The Maul to buy Neptuna a new chew toy and Cleo de Nile was there hanging out by herself so we met up and did some team shopping. She’s cooler than people think but it does take some work to get to know her. Anyway, she bought me lunch and wanted to buy me some new outfits too but I told her I had plenty. She’d never say so but I think she believes I don’t have any fashion sense because I dress in baggies, tanks and floppies all the time. It’s all good though cause I really dress this way because I like to and I’ve already mastered surfin in platforms cause sometimes when the waves are primo I don’t want to waste time changing. Of course I’ve got stacks of fashion stuff since my dad knows where to find all the best sunken treasure.
8/10
Speaking of my dad...
Went for a long swim with him today. He’s all worried about me going to school with a “bunch of dry land monster durfers”. I know he’s just worried about me but I told him that everybody is really scary sweet and they treat me like everybody else and it’s not like I’ve got to give up my voice or something silly like that... Besides, I’m the captain of the swim team and I don’t want to let anybody down. I think I finally convinced him cause he stopped being all serious and said; “last one to the beach is sushi”. I think I would have beaten him if he hadn’t gotten a head start.
9/1
I’m going to try and schedule time in the pool between my classes this year but I don’t know if I’ll be able to make that happen. If I stay out of the water for too long my skin starts to dry out and I can get like this full body dandruff - it’s yucktastic. Seriously though, I go through like a ton of monstuerizer. It’s the one thing that’s a drag about gong to school on dry land. Well that and trying to keep Neptuna hidden in my fishbowl purse all day.
9/6
I spent today by myself at this secret little cove I know. You can’t walk down to it cause the cliff is way too steep and the current is really strong around it so only a really good swimmer, which I am, could make it from the shore. Anyway, school starts tomorrow and I wanted to just chill and remember summer before it goes away. Why is it that summer always goes by faster than the school year? I’m looking forward to seeing my friends everyday but it’ll be a while before the only things I have to study are the colors and sounds of the ocean.

She realizes she’s overwhelming him and she chills (a little) and they talk about their lives and what it’s like to be a human/merman
She asks Antonio if there are more out there like him and he just gets sad and changes the topic
By the time they get close enough to shore they are both very in love with each other (even if they don’t realize it)
After spending days at sea with very little food or water she checks in to a hospital and stays there for a few days. She returns to the area where she last saw Antonio in hopes of seeing him again. She does this for about a week (she was given time off to “reciprocate”) she catches sight of him near a cove.
A part of her wants to take him in to study (she is a scientist after all) but she also knows that he wouldn’t be happy with his life and she would be betraying his trust if she did this.•The reason her and her crew went out to see was to monitor the local sea life to see if there were any endangered animals or plants in the ocean for a shipping dock to be built and used there. She wants to speak out against it because she knows it’s Antonio’s home (and possibly other merpeoples) but she can’t say anything without endangering him/them, so all she can do is sit there and watch as the companies take their failed attempts documenting sea life as a green light to start building.
Antonio is devastated at the prospector having to leave his home especially the way he has to leave it but he knows he can trust Amelia and he knows that he would be safe with her
Luckily she has a giant tank at home for him to stay in and while it’s nothing like the ocean, it’s better than her tub...still hard to hid him when her father comes to visit
“What blood fish do you have that has a tail that large???”
“It’s uuuuuuhhhhh...a new species...that...I’m documenting...”
“So you decided to keep it as a pet??”
“...Yes...”
“Whelp, I supposed I don’t know enough about marine biology to argue.”

Diary of Lagoona Blue
Hey Brah! If you find my diary please return it to me when you’re done reading it. Lates.

Studying/Planner Apps
Essential apps for studying, planning, health, etc. Who says everything has to be analog?
These are all the ones I’ve tried and downloaded (unless said otherwise). The ones with the * next to it are the ones I don’t use or have gotten rid of for personal reasons, but still highly recommend all of them.
I go through apps like a child goes through toys. I try them out, get rid of the ones I don’t like. Apps are toys.
There’s tons more, but these ones are the ones that I recommend to people with similar needs and schedules like mine. The ones I haven’t or don’t use anymore are ones I could definitely see being helpful to others or that I’d maybe use in the future if my needs change.
Note: these are things from the App Store, but I’m pretty sure most are available on the Play Store too.
Podomoro Time Trackers
Forrest* - Haven’t tried this because you have to pay for it on the App Store, but I’ve seen everyone go bonkers over this app and how they plant trees for studying, etc. etc.
Plantie - Best and only Podomoro app I still use. Gamified, but not TOO gamified. You just grow fruit, collect, coins, buy more fruit trees. It’s super simple, while still providing really good graphs and charts. Also, it allows you to turn off the feature where it stops your task as soon as you leave the app. Sometimes I need to use my phone for assignments, and I still want to track my time. It’s completely FREE, with GREAT charts as a visual. Other apps need a premium subscription to access the graphs and charts, which is why I love this app because even though the chart is quite simple, it does its job. Although, it doesn’t tell you when to take the longer break and it has to be adjusted manually. That’s fine for me, because I always get disturbed by something before I even get to 4 blocks, and if I waited until I had a big chunk, I’d never get anything done.
Block & Flow: Stay focused* - Podomoro but visualised with stacks of blocks for each day or week. And you can list out what tasks you have for that day and sort out sections for work, reading, school, etc. I didn’t need that feature, which is why I used Plantie instead.
Workflow Timer* - Another good option with options to make multiple tasks lists. One of the simpler and more user-friendly ones. It also looks really good!
Hours Time Tracking* - App for timeblocking, scheduling, and tracking the time while you’re working. It’s not helpful for me, because it’s practically impossible for me to strictly schedule something in my day after school, but could be useful for others. Really easy to makes tasks and separate by color.
Stay Focused* - Simplest Podomoro timer out there. No distractions, no graphs, no gamification, just pure focus.
Planners/Calendars/Tasks
Wunderlist - Great reminder system, intuitive (type in “essay next mon” and it will schedule the task to be due next Monday), syncs everywhere, attach documents, etc. I used this for my assignment list, books to read list, schedule etc. for a long time, until recently where things got hectic and I wanted to make a daily to do list rather than only a master list. I use a bullet journal for school stuff now, but still keep Wunderlist for that shopping/movies/books/apps/websites to check out list.
24me* - Personal assistant, lots and lots of features, with scheduling, to-do lists, notes, journaling, etc. Tracks weather and traffic to and from work/school. All in one.
Google Calendar - I don’t schedule on this, but use it to sync my school calendar with personal calendar. Easy scheduling and you can SHARE your calendar with a friend! All Google apps are made for collaboration basically.
Habitify* - Habit tracker on your phone and tracks progress every day, showing when you skip and reminding you of it. Don’t quite remember why I got rid of it because checking back it seems really good. Might redownload.
Trello* - Kanban boards, “cards” and lists, great reviews. I’ve heard people use it as a bullet journal sort of and project planner though that wasn’t it’s original purpose. I downloaded it for a club thing, but never really used it personally.
Notetaking/Planning/Journaling
OneNote - I use this ALL the time, even though I don’t use my Microsoft account much anymore. My notes are organized and have a hierarchy. Very customizable with headers, notebook sections, pages, subpages, etc. Easy to share with group mates and an okay collaboration space if you want to see each other’s progress on research or something during a group project. MUCH better than having tons of Google or Word docs of notes. Completely FREE for the full experience.
Notion* - One in all workspace for journaling, notes, scheduling, planning projects basically a mini-website for your life and work. Great guide for bullet journaling on Notion from studyblr Eintsein here. Another Notion bullet journaling guide on YouTube here and here. I highly recommend it, but don’t use it since I use an analog bujo, prefer OneNote for class notes, and don’t have much use for it other than that currently. You do have to pay for unlimited notes, but there’s a pretty good amount to start out, and if you really don’t want to pay, there are workarounds to it.
Milanote* - Like Notion, but more restrictions on the free version. I don’t use it anymore because I’ve realized I didn’t really have a good purpose for it and it cluttered up my phone. In a way, it’s more ~aesthetic~ than Notion, but there are less things you can do. It does have a better learning curve though.
Evernote - I don’t use it often, but I have it to take quick notes or other stuff. Evernote is like a god in the notetaking world, because it’s user friendly, quick, and syncs up really easily with everything.
Health
7 Minute Fitness - There’s a lot of these out there. Go find one or two. Don’t be sedentary.
30 Day Fitness Challenge - Same concept as above.
Simple Habit - FULL of free mostly 5 minute guided meditations (though there’s premium access). There’s no excuse now. Also, I used to try 10 minute meditations on Headspace which made me really sleepy. 5 minutes work best, because they’re quick, and if you want more time, just move on to the next part in the series or find another one. Lots of free series for basically any subject (school, women, mothers, grade anxiety, sleep) and SOS mode. Unfortunately, you can’t download any of them in the free version.
AloeBud* - Self-care pocket companion. Make reminders on your phone for every self-care thing you can think of. Schedule notifications multiple times a day with personalized messages.
TaoMix2 - Mixer for relaxing nature/white noise sounds. It’s pretty restricted in the free, but it’s enough for me.
Cove* - If you’re a music person, this app let’s you make quick music and tunes matching your mood. A sort of an easy music therapy if you’re not good with instruments or composition.
Reflecty* - Little journal buddy asking you fun/reflective questions about your day and tracking your mood. It’s short and sweet. Each entry is a “story”.
Oak* - Great for breathing and very simple guided meditations. Breathing practices for anxiety, freshening up, and calming nerves before a big performance. It just takes 15 seconds to breathe.
Grid Diary* - Journal prompts in grid fromat. Customizable daily prompts.
DayOne Journal* - Again, RAVING reviews. Everyone loves it. I haven’t used it because I prefer analog journals, but it’s a pretty good for travel journals with pictures, audio, video, etc.
UVLens - Reminds you to put sunscreen on throughout the day depending on your skin, activities that day, and type of sunscreen.
Flo - Period tracker. Need I say more?
Tasty - FOOOD (by Buzzfeed). New recipe ideas, includes shopping list, make your own cookbook.
KitchenStories - MORE FOOOOD. Includes Asian and international cuisine since it’s crowd-sourced.
Miscellaneous
Audiobooks - Audiobooks from the Gutenberg Project, but in app form. You can download classics for free, etc. There are some paid audiobooks, but they’re usually for better narrators/text corrections, so absolutely not necessary to get lost in an old book. Jane Austen, Charlotte Brönte, L. Frank Baum, all the good stuff.
Daylio - Tracks mood, activities, with intuitive charts. You can edit moods and activities shown per day. Free version is pretty good, and it replaces the need for making a habit tracker in my journal, because I don’t like making those.
Scannable - Very intuitive scanning app. I’ve used this for many legal/important documents and nobody had a clue it was “scanned” on a phone. It makes regular photos of documents easier to read and look like it came from a scanner. It can share as a PDF or jpg. Granted, you need good lighting for the best quality.
Google Docs, Spreadsheets, Slides - Everyone’s probably used this before, but to reiterate, this is the best collaboration app/website. Super easy to share with real-time tracking and updates.
BEAKER by THIX* - For chemistry people. Mix compounds/elements together, make new compounds, see their reactions. Don’t have much use for it since my chemistry class is moving at a glacial pace but I could see this being useful for others.
Chemtriz - Same as above, but gamified. You take elements and put them together in the right configuration to make compounds.
PictureThis - Plant Identifier - Weird addition to list, but it’s a cool app to get back in with nature. Now I know what a boxwood plant looks like.
IFTTT* - Hard to explain, but it enables different apps that don’t usually work together to work together. So if you input something in an email, you can make it go into a Google Spreadsheet(?). Just go check it out. It’s cool. Many shortcuts, track stuff in the Health App, get emails showing cool NASA pictures.
Canva - AMAZING graphic design app/website for those who can’t use Photoshop (ie. me). It’s better online, but there are hundreds of templates for magazines, book covers, planners, posters, flyers, and basically any graphic design needs. Many free graphics and photos ready to use. Premium version is NOT necessary to get full benefits from this program. I used it to create this calendar for my room.

Rhapsody of a Broken Heart
Anticipation | Episode 1

~1600 words & ~7 mins of reading
────────────────────────────
11 pm
Kia finally finished her painting of her mother, who fell asleep during posing, after long hours of working without taking a single break. She puts her brushes away and gets up to wake her mom up. She gets off the puffy chair she was sitting on and approaches her, reaching her hand out to wake her up. Lira eventually wakes up after a short while of being gently shaken.
“Mom I’m done, come look” Kia sounds somewhat tired while saying that. Her mom agrees. Kia helps her to get up and then Lira takes a look at the painting her daughter made.
“Whoa!” Lira didn’t expect to see such a well-made painting of her, it put a massive smile on her. Kia ended up receiving tons of compliments which made her feel confident about her teachers liking it too. Which after Kia went to clean up and let the paint dry. Once she was done, she was told to go rest, she did. Before her door was shut, her mom came in.
“Hey, Kia.” “...Yeah?” Kia asks while yawning. “I have a flight in 3 hours so I’ll get ready to leave. You will be alone for the weekend. Goodnight.” After this, Lira closes the door to Kia’s room. Kia spends most of the night dreaming about meeting her cousin for the first time in her life. The reason why they never met was that her aunt lives in UK but Kia in the US.
. . .
9 am
Kia wakes up, wakes up remembering about all the homework she has to do. It is surprisingly quiet it is at their place. Their neighbors usually sang karaoke at this time or clean up. She decides to use the situation to focus on her studies.
.
She calls her boy, Hess, over so he’d help her with things she doesn’t understand. He agrees to come over, Kia gets really happy but remembers that she has to study, not fool around with him.
Hess – Kia’s neighbor, best friend, and a boyfriend. Though, considering how long they’ve known each other for, you almost could call them siblings.
.
He comes right when Kia was making breakfast. She asks if he’d like to eat with her, he agrees. They chat while having a nice and tasty breakfast. Hess tells her about things that are getting worse between him and his family, he feels way better at her place because of how peaceful it is here, comparing to where he lives. Kia could never understand why his parents don’t like him, comparing to his little brother. She considered Hess a really kind, warm, and a clever person, not like his younger bro, who is still really young. They end up talking about Hess’s family for a long time and at one moment Kia remembers about her homework again and asks if he could help.
“Oh?...Yeah, of course. Is there a lot?” he asks. “I’m not sure, I’ll go check,” Kia responds, walking out of the kitchen.
Hess took care of the dishes while Kia was gone. After a while she returned with a bunch of books and placed them all on the sofa in the living room. She notices that there are no plates on the table and looks at Hess
“Did you wash the plates?” “I did.” He replies “Aww! You didn’t have to!” She chuckles “That’s a habit.” He says while approaching Kia, he notices the pile of books “Do you expect me to help you with everything?” “That would be nice if you did, you’re good at explaining.” “I am?” he seems to be slightly surprised “You really are! Don’t I tell you that all the time?” she grins He slightly blushes “I- Thank you..” That sounded somewhat shy Hess sits next to Kia and they begin working together.
.
After 2 hours they finish with the first subject out of 4. Kia gets up and stretches, she looks out of the window.
“Maybe we should take a walk?” she asks, turning to Hess “Is it warm outside?” “A little breezy but we can if you want to.” He replies “Get up. We’re going on a walk then.” Hess nods and gets up. He waits for Kia to quickly change into something she could go on a walk in. Soon after, Kia returns. They make sure to lock all the windows and the door of course.
. It was really peaceful and warm outside. One of the warmest days in the entire spring. Kia persuaded Hess to hold hands with her while walking. It doesn’t seem like he’s not enjoying it and he’s not even trying to hide that. They both seem to be happy to be together.
Tumblr media
They speak about school some more. Hess will graduate soon and Kia graduates in a year. "So..you never told me what you will do after you're out?" She asks him. "Medical School." “Won't it take too long to study in a medical school?” “It will but I believe that it’s worth it.” He began telling her about his dream job being a doctor. He didn’t expect her to be interested but she was. It felt as if nobody had ever cared more about his dreams than Kia. It’s sad to know that there are people who keep everything to themselves. Luckily, Hess has Kia, who seems to be ready to listen to anything he’d say.
Suddenly, rain starts. It doesn’t ruin the mood these two were in, though the break was ruined. They went into a café and ended up studying here cuz Hess got a few books with himself... After the rain has stopped, they quickly went back into Kia’s place and continued to study.
.
11 pm
Kia and Hess spent their entire day studying and chatting. They agreed to have a sleepover. Hess fell asleep on Kia’s bed while she was making a sketch of him.
Once she was done, she noticed him sleeping. She lies down next to him and snuggles into him. Quickly after, she fell asleep without waking him up.
.
4 am.
Hess randomly woke up and saw Kia be slightly hugging him. That kind of made him blush. He isn't used to affection so it felt nice. He tried coving them both with a blanket, though his attempt was unsuccessful cuz he was afraid of waking up his sweetie. Instead, he pulled her closer, which, luckily, didn't wake her up. He managed to fall asleep.
At around 7 am they both were woken up by a call on someone's phone. It was Hess's mother calling. He didn't want to pick up and turned the sound off, going back to sleep, since they both were still really sleepy.
Z Z Z
"Wake up, sleepyhead!" Kia shakes Hess while telling him that. He gr0An "nn..what time is it..?" "1 pm already." She replies. "..what? ..oh..when did I even fell asleep?" "At around 11." He was still really sleepy but hearing that he've slept for this long surprised him. Kia gave him some time to properly wake up and waits for him in the living room. Hess comes after a few mins. He looks like a mess. "I'll take a shower." "Of course. Don't forget to take your clothes off." "I- pff- why wouldn't I?" "Last time you didn't." She giggles "Wait, really? I don't remembe- OH. Right. ahah." It kind of lightened him up. He peaced out into the bathroom... After a while he's out. Kia seems to be talking with someone over the phone. ....Hess' phone. He watches her do that. Seems like she's talking to his mom....or no? She's always so nice to everyone that its hard to say who exactly she's speaking to.
Tumblr media
He goes to sit next to Kia. Right when she ends the call. "Morning!" She happily greets him. "More like 'good afternoon'. Who were you talking to?" "My mom" "..On my phone?" "Eh?" She looks at the phone she's holding. She gets up and goes into her bedroom. She walks out with a phone just the same as his. "Seems like we are phone mates," she says "..aw." his expression went <:) Its fun to have something that matches. Kia hands him his phone. He checks it and sees 3 missed calls from his mother. Kia notices it. "Not going to call back?" "I don't want to.." seems like he's just fed up with his parents to the point where he doesn't even want to listen to their voices.
She sits next to him. "Hey" He looks at her "yeah?" "I'll get a sibling soon." He's silent for a moment He's confused "..What? Is your mom going to give b-" "no---" Kia interrupts him. "What then? Adopting? And by the way...where's your mom?" "She's in the UK. She will bring my cousin tomorrow." "Ohh... I get it. So you will live with your cousin from now on?" "I think so?" "Why though? Did something happen to your cousins parents?" "I have no idea and hopefully didn't."
.
The day passed quickly. Kia spent most of her day telling Hess what she would love to do with her cousin and simply dreaming about her. Thought when the evening came, he said that he couldn't stay here any longer. It made K a little upset but she was glad that they spent so much time together.
.
Night. Kia is peacefully sleeping and having a nice dream about her meeting her cousin. She's not even sure if its a girl or a boy! And how old they are..or anything about them at all. Though, she thinks that her cousin must be younger since Lira, her mom, has a younger sis. At one moment her dream gets really realistic. As if someone us actually hugging her. Feels good.
────────────────────────────
Thank you so much if you gave this ep a shot! It may seem to be a little boring in the beginning, but I swear that it will get more enjoyable in the future! :)
Tiny spoiler for the ones that will stay: no, the story wont be about these two. There will be a big amount of main/side characters and not all of it will be all so wholesome (;

Take Me Home Chapter One
Summary: Hannah gets some unexpected news and she and Tammy have to figure out their new reality.
Words: 2387
Warnings: none
Pairings: Hannah Khoury/Tammy Gregorio, Tammy Gregorio/Sebastian Lund (Friendship) others to be added.
                                               A Wind of Change
Sitting at the table in the breakfast nook at Sebastian and Tammy's house. Hannah let a soft smile come across her lips as she looked over at Tammy. With Tammy Gregorio it was easy, easy to love her, far easier than it had been with Ryan Porter.
Tammy then spoke “Hey did you hear my question?”
“Huh? Sorry lost in thought.”
“I asked what you wanted for breakfast.”
“I want waffles,” Sebastian called out while he walked into the kitchen. He let out a small gasp once he recognized Tammy's house guest. ”Wait. Hannah? Why are you here? Do we have a case?”
Hannah let out a small groan, “You said he was getting back this afternoon, I knew we should have gone to my place. I'm going to go get dressed.” Standing up in the FBI tee she had stolen from Tammy’s dresser that morning and walking past Sebastian even though she was sure that Sebastian had seen the heart print briefs she had on as well.
---
“Easy baby, I'll handle it.” Tammy said as she shoved Sebastian back towards the living room.
“What the hell aren't you supposed to be at some nerd thing?”
“Comic-Con is not for nerds it's for enthusiasts. And I got in last night, I see you didn't wait up for me. Wait, that was your shirt she had on. Why is Hannah here?”
They stood quietly. Tammy raised one eyebrow at him.
“Oh my god your seeing Hannah. Wait how long has this been going on?”
“Look, me and Hannah have a little thing going on, and it's been six weeks. Let me go try and calm Hannah down before she decides to kill you, you know she could do it and get away with it. Do not mention this to anyone or I'll hurt you got it.”
“Yeah no I understand.” Sebastian nodded nervously.
“Wait. Six weeks, you've been dating for six weeks?” He watched as Tammy slide into her room and hearing her greet Hannah softly and sweetly before her door closed in front of him. He shook his head and headed to make coffee for three.
---
“I'm sorry baby, apparently he meant last night not tonight.” Tammy said as she closed the door.
Hannah paused in buttoning her red shirt and looked at her, “It’s fine other than the fact that I'm not supposed to see my subordinate, oh and no one other than you even knows I like girls! But it's fine, I'm just going to get fired or transferred to Siberia, it fine, you know except I hate the cold, my daughter is here, your here, and I'm exhausted all the time now.”
“Wow I think that's the most words I've ever heard you say at once,” Tammy said as she slid closer to Hannah “now should I kiss you to make up for all this, see if I can get you out of your jeans.” And pulled Hannah against her both arms looping around Hannah's waist.
Hannah laughed, “Sure, let’s see what you can do,” one hand coming up to rest on Tammy’s face the other sliding around Tammy's back then Hannah's phone began blaring and she groaned in response.
She turned to look for it. Finding it under her shirt from the day before she scooped it up.
“Hey Lasalle, what do we got?” She chirped and heard the Alabama accent chatter, nodding.
“All right call Loretta have her meet us there, no I'm near their house I'll stop and pick them up. Ok see you there.” Hanging up the phone.
She turned to Tammy “So let's put these plans on hold, double murder of two sailors.” She said as she gave Tammy one last kiss. Then moving to finish getting ready “Tell Sebastian please.”
---
“Right what do we have Loretta?” Tammy asked.
“We have petty officer third class Regan Clark and petty officer first class Damon Sims both served on the Chinook, both were found this morning, Regan was stabbed in the neck, but Damon well.. Christopher will you help me?” Loretta asked, pointing at the corpse.
“Oh course Ms. Loretta” as they turned the body over on the ground.
Tammy noticed Hannah's face turn almost as she clamped one hand over her mouth the other over her stomach. A wave of shock rushed through Tammy as she watched Hannah's reaction. Hannah hadn't been bothered a bit by the shrimp boat case, where the body had been bloated by the ocean, but this one while bad wasn't nearly on the same level of smell.
“He has been sliced into to spell out, from six to one the spell is spun, no time to run, the curse begun and some kind of symbol I’ll know more once I get them back to autopsy.” Loretta commented, scribbling on her notepad.
“Okay what curse?” Tammy asked looking down at the body.
“This is New Orleans, this city was built on curses” Hannah said, having managed to swallow her nausea.
“Yeah there a ton of them, wait how do you know that you've only been here about five months.” Chris said as he looked up from photographing the body.
“I've got a degree in history, I like it so when I moved here I studied up on it, but my master’s thesis was on New Orleans history.” Hannah replied.
“Okay Tammy, Chris deep dive the victims, I’ll call their COs see if they were working on anything worth killing over, Sebastian.” Hannah said, giving the orders.
“Heading to the lab.” Sebastian replied.
“Great. Anything you get us can help us get this guy really look into that symbol as well I think I recognize it and if I'm right, I have a sinking suspicion that he's not done yet.”
Upon arriving at headquarters, Hannah went straight to the bathroom, having had to try very hard not to throw up while in the car with Tammy, she expelled what she was fairly certain was the contents of her entire stomach, noting that she seemed slightly bloated. But she stood slowly and washed her mouth out, heading back in to the bullpen, ignoring the fact that both Tammy and Chris were giving her concerned looks, pulling up the Chinook’s list.
She discovered they worked under Senior Chief Petty Officer James Shal, calling his number she discovered that the officers had been on shore leave and were rumored to be dating, but that Clark had a ex that she had been trying to seek a restraining order against, but neither had any type of security clearance, Clark was a culinary specialist, and Sims worked radio.
Chris glanced over at Tammy and she nodded, she was ready to present, but when he looked over at Hannah he thought she looked like she was asleep so he walked over towards her desk.
“Boss, you ready for us to present? Hannah?” He tapped on her desk and she jerked, waking up from where her head had been resting in her hand.
“Yeah, go for it.” She said as she blinked several times to wake herself up.
Chris lifted the remote “Petty officer first class Damon Sims age 30, no money troubles, not much a personal life, joined the navy when he was 18. He is interested in treasure in particular anything to do with the so called, ‘Crystal Cove.’”
Tammy grabbed the remote from him, “Petty officer third class Regan Clark, age 25, up until recently was in fairly deep debt but made several big payoffs, has an ex that lives in the city. Joined the navy only 2 years ago, seems to have no hobbies, nothing at all even connecting her to Sims.”
“Well that is not quite true,” Hannah said as she leaned over her desk, one hand dropping over her abdomen and running lightly over it, “According to their CO, neither were on any kind of classified assignment, Clark worked as a culinary specialist and Sims worked radio. They were on shore leave together and were rumored to be seeing each other. As for Clark’s ex, she tried and failed to get a restraining order against him. Gregorio look into why.”
“Chris, I want you to go to the morgue and check in with Sebastian, help him with the symbol, concentrate on pirates that may have connections to the Crystal Cove. I'll look into the legend here. I’ll be back in a minute.” Hannah said as she rushed towards the bathroom.
Tammy looked over at Chris, “She seem okay to you?”
“Not one bit, keep an eye on her Gregorio.” Chris replied as he grabbed his keys before going to the SUV for a visit to the JPSO for results.
“Always, you know that.” Tammy said as she turned to look towards where Hannah had disappeared.
----
Chris walked down the hall and turned into the morgue, “Alright Ms. Loretta, tell me what do we got here.”
“Well like I said at the crime scene, Ms. Clark’s, cause of death was a stab wound on the throat. The killer severed both of her carotid arteries, she would have died nearly instantaneously.” Wade explained, circling around the table where the corpse laid on.
“While Mr. Sims, well he died very slowly, the wounds on his back where likely caused by a very sharp straight blade, and he was tortured before his death, he was punched repeatedly in the abdomen, there was blood in his stomach.” Wade said gesturing towards the next table, “He has three broken ribs, and seven of his fingernails were ripped out very close to the time of death, the final cause of death was exsanguination, the symbol and words on his back were done pre mortem.”
“This killer wanted to cause pain to this young man.” Wade sighed, putting a hand on her hip.
“Alright thank you. Do ya know if Sebastian is done?”
“Yes and I found something very interesting” Sebastian said as he burst into the morgue.
“Alright, what is it?”
“Quartz dust. But not from any known mines in this area, this is different. It’s also been worked.”
“Well how can you know that?” Chris asked with a quirked brow at him.
“Trace minerals but old ones, lead and sulfur.”
“Meaning” Chris pulled out the word, lowering his head.
“This is old quartz, like Spanish conquistadors. Old.”
---
Chris and Sebastian walked in “We've got a problem. The quartz dust is old, really old.” Sebastian announced.
“That makes sense,” Hannah said as she looked up “everything I can find on this Crystal Cove, says it was created by Spanish conquistadors to protect what they thought was the fountain of youth. They landed here to collect supplies and then were planning on sailing back to Spain, but then a hurricane came and hit so they built the cave to protect their loot, a crystal fountain and other crystal pieces they collected.”
“That’s-that’s accurate.” Sebastian’s jaw dropped with astonishment, nodding slowly.
“It's rumored to be worth over 10 million dollars.” Hannah continued as she blinked out of a dizzy spell.
Sebastian noticed that she was still shaking, “Are you okay?”
“Yeah I'm fine just stood up too fast.” Hannah replied, before turning to Tammy.
“Gregorio you got anything on this ex of Clark’s?
“No nothing, I've got what might be a first name Adam, but I can't find anything else, Patton’s running one of his searches and is diving into her records. But I did find this, she's been making a lot of calls to various unknown numbers, Patton is looking at them but my guess is burners. She's also been making payments to some company called Fire Dive, and Wreckage, can't find anything on them, but look who owns it, David Finch.” Gregorio said.
“Okay maybe it's because I'm still new to New Orleans but who's David Finch?” Hannah asked.
Chris grabbed the remote and clicked it over “Only one of the biggest mob boss in the city, he has a finger in every pie, and nothing ever links back to him.”
“Alright, let’s deep dive the company and the employees, if we can. Sebastian I want you to try and narrow down the dust as much as you can, anything that will tells us where it might be from. Lasalle look into why Sims was wanting to find the crystal. Gregorio have you found anything on who Clark was in debt to?”
Tammy shook her head.
“You said that she had recently done several payments that didn't back up to her salary right? Let's look at why.” Hannah said as she leaned back in her chair.
As they hit yet another wall, Hannah still fighting to keep her eyes open, looked at her watch “Okay, I don't think we're going to get any further information tonight, let's all go home, and reconvene in the morning, hopefully Patton’s dives into the company and some of the phone scans will be done.” As she pushed up from her desk she felt the world spin and only her tight grip on the desk kept her from falling.
Seeing Tammy glance towards her she shook her head, she needed to be alone tonight. As she made it into her car, and pulled her phone to check to see if Naomi had texted her about her dance program she saw the date and the blood drained from her face.
Her symptoms, the nausea, the exhaustion, even the random bouts of hunger and the dizzy spells, and now the fact that she was late for the second time.
She carefully drove towards her apartment stopping only at the CVS down the street walking in and not looking at anyone she went to an aisle and picked up a single box, one she hadn't bought in almost 5 years checking out she paid in cash not wanting a record of this, finally arriving back in her apartment.
She dropped her bag and jacket over the table, clutching the box though the bag, heading towards to the bathroom. With a shaking hand she slid a single package out and took it.
Five minutes later, she flipped it over, not sure what she wanted the test to say.
But her heart sank just a little when she saw the screen. A pair of blue lines in it, confirming her suspicions that she was pregnant.
