PSA to those interested in DPxDC Crossover Content

Reminder that, as per the Danny Phantom x DC discord stated rules, the official tag that the crossover fandom operates under is DPxDC with NO spaces. This is because Tumblr filters do a bad job when it comes to spaces and often get confused.

If you wish to participate in the dpxdc fandom, please tag all your content accordingly, and DPxDC server mods have advised people to avoid using the DC tag and the Danny Phantom tag. This is because the dpxdc fandom entirely overpowers the danny phantom fandom in sheer numbers alone, and it is in fact so big with so much lore that it's really a separate entity from both DP and DC. And tagging properly reduces unwanted flooding to the separate fandoms.

I just think it's a great time to remember that, yes, even if there is a group of people that gave guidance and set certain things up and steered the ship at the outset, everything that's been happening with regards to saving OFMD has been ordinary every day fans doing what they do.

Heck, there's been almost zero guidance for a few weeks, and the #SaveOFMD and #AdoptOurCrew tags have been rolling along with thousands and thousands and thousands of tweets (I've only seen it dip below 20k once). We did that. Just regular fans did that. So many of these amazing things (like Lube As A Crew!) came from fans reaching out and going 'ooh let's try this!'. Heck, Lube as a Crew was trending MASSIVELY well last night without any guidance from some centralised group - the community did that!

The power in a fan community is that it is grass roots. It's organic. It's why there's so many different OFMD fan fundraising initiatives that all work separately but alongside each other, and it's how we as a fandom have raised so much money for so many different causes.

If you want to do something, do it! Give it a go! Set it up! If you need to, message/tag someone who has a little more clout in the fandom and see if they'll give your idea a boost! If you have an idea but are unsure and need some help shaping it, reach out and find people to help (more on where you might find this in a later paragraph)! It's all coming from the ground up, not the other way around.

There are new groups of fans that are stepping into the space to try and provide guidance, or at least provide a space to develop ideas, but, crucially, these have all so far seemed to have a greater focus on working with the community, rather than leading it. Which I think is the best direction to go in.

Yes, it's great to have spaces where we have people with experience giving some sort of a steer, or offering professional advice, but, again, it needs to be rooted in community - nurturing community, encouraging involvement, sharing expertise whilst also giving space for people to develop their own ideas and find support. Some of the newer initiatives popping up (such as @AdoptOurCrew and @SaveOFMDCrew) seem to be very much about that, and that's what's needed. That's where the power is.

On that note, if you have an idea you want some backing or support with, you can do much worse than getting in touch with one (or both!) of those accounts. I'm currently in the SaveOFMD discord server (campaigning is my job, so wanted to get involved and try and be useful!), and I've been in touch with AdoptOurCrew individually (they helped boost my call out for stories for an article), and I thoroughly recommend that anyone who has an idea, or wants to get involved, reach out to them. Crucially, for me, it all feels like part of the same community working together towards the same goal.

I know that it's reassuring to think there's something centralised that we can just follow - one place that has all knowledge and where everything is coming from - and I know that losing that is frightening, but it's really important to remember: that is not how any of this works, it is not how communities work, and it is not how this campaign has been successful.

It's not been just a couple of people at the top. It never was. It's you who has achieved all this. You are the reason so much has happened so far. You are so much more powerful than you are giving yourself any credit for.

Default Skin Sets!

Two default skins sets using @withlovefromsimtown's excellent Birthday Suit set.

@isimchi posted about the lack of options for players who want darker default skin sets, so I was like 'defaults? that's my one skill!' offered to make some, and we came up with these. :) There's also a slightly edited version of the 1.00 skin available as custom, so read on.

Set one uses 0.40, 0.60, and 0.70 skins for S1, 2, and 3 defaults and is intended to be used with Lifa's S4 default from the original post. Lifa's S4 file is not included! Go download their original sets, what are you waiting for? There's loads of cool add-ons! Like freckles! And nose masks!

Set two uses 0.50, 0.70, 0.80, and 1.00 for S1, 2, 3, and 4 defaults.

The 1.00 S4 default comes in two versions, Lifa's original and a version I edited to add a small amount of highlighting to the face. It's verrrry subtle:

A custom version is included; it's completely standalone, so you can have both the original and my edit in your game, and includes a custom icon and tooltip to differentiate it.

Following Lifa's example, the files are not compressed. Proper swatches in the download. Enjoy, feel free to mix and match sets, etc!

hello. to the person who sent me the ask about how to navigate fandom being kind of Blegh especially after. Exciting (contentious) moments like these. hello i am. Incredibly tired and the quick answer I wanted to give has ballooned intonlike 15 paragraphs i am not coherent enough to edit down rn so. instead. my Most Critical TL;DR so i can edit and post the ask tmr.

- Do not feel bad about curating your fandom experience! Seriously. Blocking people or even not acknowledging certain people's posts does not have to be like. A moral judgement or anything. Follow people who you want to follow. Get friends who you can yell privately with.

- Do not feel bad about stepping away if seeing discussion and discourse is making you feel objectively Worse. Fandom is not a moral obligation, and you dont do yourself or anyone else a favor by continuing to look at things that upset you and making yourself feel worse. I cannot emphasize this enough. If looking at fandom stuff is exclusively making you feel worse, do yourself a kind gesture and. stop looking. u can leave. hit da bricks. etc.

- like related to the above, unfortunately there will always be some people who are just. Wrong On The Internet. You will not convince or correct them all. Nor can you stop them from posting. This is kind of something you just need to live with. Discussion and exploration of various views can be very beneficial! Just like. Yknow. Pick your battles.

- IMO People get really weird about character conflict and it gets quickly into Morally Right Vs Morally Wrong territory PLUS weird projections onto the cast. I have lots of opinions about this but i need to sleep so lets just say. People get weird. Emotions run high. feel free to disengage.

- There's been a lot of Events in the campaign recently, and being disappointed one way or another is understandable. There are different ways to approsch that particular sensation/feeling, but I'd say the biggest thing thats helped me is generally steering away from assuming malice or ill intent from the cast, as well as avoiding getting too caught up in assuming the story I am expecting is the only good iteration that can be told.

The majority of generated transformers imagery I've seen is already just blobs of color. Ironically, robots are hard for AI to understand. And here am I, with hundreds of scruched up little (though maybe even too little to be included in a dataset) images, selected specifically for looking weird, all tagged various transformers characters. Just imagine what all those croissant Arcees could do to an image generator!
