I am loudly pushing the batdad agenda i am loudly pushing the— DPxDC Prompt
“Woah. You look like shit."
Granted, that’s probably not the first thing Danny should be saying to the guy that just bit the curb, but in his defense; he’s not running on 100% right now either.
The man -- tall, towering, and broader than Danny is tall -- whips around on his heel, black frayed cape flaring out impressively. Danny would've whistled in appreciation, but he takes the time instead to wipe the back of his hand across his mouth, smearing the blood running from his nose across his cheek.
"Sorry." He blinks widely, not even flinching as the man with the horns zeroes in on him. "That was rude of me. I have a really bad brain-to-mouth filter; Sam says its what always gets me into trouble."
And she's not wrong either, per say. His smart mouth is what landed him in this situation -- with blood blossom extract running through his veins and cannibalizing the ectoplasm in his bloodstream. Thanks Vlad.
The man grunts at him; a short, curt "hm" that shouldn't make Danny smile, but he does because he's somewhat delirious and probably concussed. The man keeps some kind of distance, sinking towards the shadows of Gotham's alleyway like he dares to melt right into it.
If it's supposed to scare Danny, it doesn't work. Danny's never been afraid of the dark; he's always been able to hide himself in it. He blinks slowly at the mass of shadows.
"You look hurt." The shadows says, blurring together around the edges. Danny squints, and licks his lips to get the blood dripping down his chin off. Ugh, he hates the taste of blood.
"I am." He says, "My godfather poisoned me. M'dying." The agony of the blood blossom eating him from the inside out looped back around to numbing a while ago, so all he feels is half-awake and dazed.
"Hey," Danny stumbles forward towards the man, a bloodied hand reaching out to him. "You-- you're a hero, right? You're not attacking me; which is more than I can say for most costumed people I've met." Maybe it's a poor bar to judge someone at, but he's already established that Danny's not in his right mind.
The man makes no change in expression, but Danny realizes blearily that it's hard to tell with the shadows on his face. He stays still long enough for Danny to latch onto the cape -- stretchy, but almost soft under his fingers.
He looks up blearily into the whites of the man's eyes. "Can you help me? I don't-- I don't wanna die." Again. He doesn't wanna die again. He blinks slow and lizard-like. "I mean- I'll probably get to see mom and dad again, but I told them I'd at least try and make it to adulthood."
There's a clatter down the street, and Danny's ghost sense chills up his spine and leaves a bitter, ashy taste in his mouth. He immediately knows who it belongs to even before the deceptively gentle; "Daniel?" echoes down the way.
"Daniel? Quit your games, badger, Gotham is dangerous for children."
Danny's mouth pulls back, and blood spills against his tongue. "Please." He rasps, and grabs onto the shadow's cape with both hands. "Please. He's going to kill me. Please--"
"Daniel? Is that you?"
His lips part, dragging in air to plead with the darkness again. He doesn't need to, the whites of his eyes narrow, and the cape whirls around him before Danny can blink. Soon swaddled in shadows, the Night lifts him up, and steals him away.

nah. they're really touchy amicas, tho. probably because im always touchy with my friends and it just kinda rubs off on my art. ravage is my Me character so i do end up giving him traits i have. one of those is being touchy with people he cares about 🤷♂️. he's especially touchy with drift as when they were grouped together in the dead end (which is where they met in my brain), ravage spent a lot of hours curled up in drift's car alt with laserbeak and buzzsaw for shelter. that touchy aspect never really left their dynamic.
and besides,
drift/deadlock's candle has always been lit for someone else.

rotating the pub scene from 73 yards in my mind i think there is so much being said there about wales and welsh/english tension that is so interesting and is going so under discussed
#blahs#dw#dw spoilers#the whole thing about castles in wales being english torture centres. much to unpack#i think it's easy for most viewers to watch it and see that the characters are taking the piss and write it off#but what's interesting about it is i think rtd is basing that on real exaggerations of oppression by welsh people#most castles in wales WERE built by the english and they WERE designed to oppress the welsh. except that was like 800 years ago#and some people use this as an example of welsh oppression /now/ when it's like. not relevant to modern wales really#and 'torture chambers' is a wild exaggeration that dangerously tries to compare wales to much more recent human rights violations#i think rtd is trying to caution against a romanticised or sensationalised narrative of old wales that certain welsh nationalists have#this is also what he's doing with roger ap gwilliam#i keep seeing people say his character is 'just nukes' and i'm not gonna pretend it's The most complex politics ever#but it's also not just nukes. it's about specific political tensions and attitudes in wales.#rtd's viewpoint reminds me a lot of my dad#my dad's a proud welshman he's a native speaker he grew up in a welsh speaking community#but he doesn't really care about old welsh history about llewelyn ap gruffydd or owain glyndwr or anything like that#he doesn't see it as relevant. to him what's important is modern wales and the tensions of the 20th century#i'd wager rtd probably feels the same#and what with doctor who being produced in wales being rtd's doing i think he's enthusiastic about collaborating with england#rather than being like. isolationist about it. (that's the wrong word but i can't think of a better one)#WHICH INCIDENTALLY ties the political strand of the episode with the personal strand about ruby#who is also dealing with a self-fulfilling sense of isolation#anyway i think this episode is about wales in a very significant way. we need more welsh people writing think pieces about it#honest to god i don't think any analysis of it that doesn't talk about its welshness is quite Getting It

#my entries#percy jackson#the house of hades#nico di angelo#i spent way too long playing tetris with book quotes on photopea but i had to compile them. i had to.#“the only person who ever accepted me was bianca and she died!” sends me spiralling every time#how much misery can misery take? percy should have asked nico instead of akhlys#on another note i really loved house of hades particularly the parts that explored tartarus#i find the underworld and its lore fascinating and the more tenebrous the place the better!#it's another reason why the battle of the labyrinth was one of the more enjoyable reads#apart from daedalus icarus and perdix's story i mean#theseus and the minotaur was on the first greek myths i'd learnt about as a child#also it was great to see someone except hazel care for nico for once#jason is a great friend#cupid when i catch you!

AND ACTUALLY tbh it's on my mind because lately, I've been thinking about how/if Bakugo gets all soft when he's older. Not personality wise, but all sentimental about shit, you know?
Keeping every single photo and note and being really annoying abt never wanting to fight with you even if he's STEAMING mad about something. Trying so hard to be nice to Deku and Todoroki, actually calling them his friends (even if he's still mean to them about the billboard charts) and wanting to do stuff with them.
Not to mention how he tries to plan couples activities when he can (even if it's difficult, like HIKING or CAMPING)... and actually saying sorry. Like now he gets pissed if you don't want to talk shit out and you're mad because since when did he become the mature one? HE'S LYING.
I don't know. I do think he goes all soft eventually, though. Even if he's like fifty when it happens and never actually able to drop the lip.

It still blows my mind that no body wants to own movies or CDs. Like I don't like not owning any movies or shows I like and wanna rewatch. Maybe I sound like a boomer but I'm not planning on paying for Netflix for the rest of my damn life just for this one movie I love that their hosting. Imma go on the internet and get the DVD.
We really shouldn't allow these streaming services to kill DVDs and CDs. We should not let them kill physical media. They want you to not have a physical copy, so that when you stop paying, you don't have access to the product your paying for. Buy more CDs. Buy more DVDs. Buy a damn VCR. I mean shit, a fucking Xbox or playstation can play any DVD, blue ray or not. Your car has a radio for a reason.
Don't let them kill physical media. Because if or when the cards fall, you'll be left with nothing.

the thing is i very much understand the appeal of lupcretia narratively bc they are foils who betray each other and then forgive each other because the force of their grief and guilt brings them to an understanding and i also understand the appeal of blupcretia bc its a three person relationship who disagree on something major and split apart leaving one party feeling abandoned when the other two agree against her and what does that mean for the fact that the rest of their lives outside a horrible timeloop are supposed to start soon Because of that decision and disagreement like i get it narratively its interesting!! but here’s the thing: i just have an unshakeable belief that lup is straight
#+ w/ regard to blupcretia the appeal of that one depends on the Assumption that romantic relationships are prioritized#yk what i mean?#like its only really interesting if you assume they’re intending to also be life partners/prioritized in each others life#thats why the creeping feeling of betrayal in lucretia is interesting at all#bc she’s assuming the three of them are a Unit#like thats why its more interesting romantically than platonically (still very very interesting platonically)#but i really don’t think romantic relationships Are always prioritized and i especially don’t think LUP of all people does so#the most important person in her life is taako and he’s just chilling in this scenario LMAO#he has no skin in the game so even if youre like yeah lup DOES prioritize him over both her romantic partners it doesnt… add any depth#and taako and lucretia have their own extremely complex & interesting dynamic and that doesnt benefit from lucretia being w/ lup either#like i tend to think taako and lucretia were already pretty close w/out lupcretia being a thing so that doesnt lend any more complexity#+ all that's not even to mention that i dont think lup or barry as characters really have romantic chemistry w/ lucretia#that and i just really do think lup is straight#taz#mine#ive also seen a fic abt taako/lucretia where she feels betrayed bc he chose his family over her (his girlfriend?)#which i guess is interesting enough but i truly truly cannot ever see them in a romantic/sexual relationship#that's absolutely not their dynamic. even aside from the fact they're both gay as fuck LMAO#not trying to vague something very specific dont anyone go like. hunt this down and harass the author ofc#just thought it was interesting. another concept that in theory could be narratively fun but i cant ever see happening. except way stronger

there's a lot of things people blame for why fandoms feel like ghost towns these days, but no one's really talked about the way discord's contributing to it
