For the absolute basics; I'm Valentin (he/him), non-native English speaker, and I need some sort of motivation to study (depression + suspected ADHD). I LOVE academics but I hate doing it for classes :(
Mild request: when talking with me, it'd be nice if y'all used tone tags! :)
Current classes: US history, precalc, english comp (+ driver's ed)
Things I want to do (at some point): read and write (for fun), *draw, pick up programming/coding, brush up my Russian and Ukrainian (native langs), learn Italian (practical), learn Latin (fun), get better at cooking/baking
I'll probably be posting abt studying(obvi), organization attempts + whatever else I feel like
Since this is studyblr that's all y'all need to know
*specifically, I want to get a hang of: gesture/figure drawing, human anatomy, basic animal anatomy, perspective, color theory, lighting/shading, + figuring out my art style(s)

Hello! I hope you had a wonderful holiday!
I decided to try something new (again) since my last update. I have a fond memory of reading the Warrior Cats series by Erin Hunter. I had fallen in love with those books during middle school and continued reading the series up until my junior year in high school. The writing bug left me a love bite during my middle school years. I…
Yes, yes, claws. Big bad werewolf, so very scary, yadda yadda. Whatever. Not important.
You know what is important? Derek Hale's fucking booty pop.
Holy Jesus, the bounce on that ass is like the distance to the moon and back!
God damn. I wonder if he has chonic back pain carrying that thing around. I mean, I know I fucking would if I had to lug around two Jupiters made of Jello every day.
Now, notice how he doesn't shake his hips or twerk his pelvis in any way? Like, his back and legs show his perfectly still skeleton?
This means that that is all just supple butt flesh involuntarily rippling under his sudden movement like setting down a plate of flan.
s1ep13 merlin, believing he will be dead by morning, goes to say goodbye to arthur and he leans against the door of arthur’s chambers and watches the glow of the fire light his skin golden, full of color and life that it had been sorely lacking while the prince was injured. he stares at the softness of arthur’s features and pressed the line of his profile into memory for while he passes he will wish for nothing more than to see arthur one last time, his smile and blue eyes one last comfort before he passes on to the otherworld. arthur turns to stare at him and frowns at whatever expression merlin is making. the prince kicks a weak foot out at the chair next to him and motions for merlin to join him. merlin slowly shuffles over but ignores the chair completely. he stops in front of arthur who watches him with wary confusion. the tug of his lips and the furrow of his brow sickeningly endearing and merlin allows himself to be selfish and leans down to press his lips to arthur’s.
the prince is sat frozen under merlin’s touch but he can’t find himself to care much about that, not when he finally knows what it feels like to kiss arthur. he hopes that will be his last sensation before the ever consuming nothing, he hopes he will close his eyes one last time only to find arthur grinning at him and calling him an idiot before leading him into paradise where he can watch arthur smile, hear him laugh, and feel his touch for all eternity. he pulls away and leaves before arthur can gather himself to form a response, dropping the letter explaining everything on the table as he passes. so he allows himself to be selfish twice - to take from arthur and to give, to let himself know what is feels to kiss the man, to embrace his feelings for him, and to have the man know him for who he truly is. he wishes to pass peacefully with no regrets. somehow that revolves entirely around arthur.
only…he survives the whole ordeal and yeah has a gnarly scar on his chest but is otherwise fit to return to his duties. which include taking care of the prince. of arthur. who he kissed. and who most definitely know about his magic by now. yeesh.
Do you have any headcanons about the relationship between Diomedes and Athena? I feel like their dynamic is incredibly compelling and under-explored
Oooooo... That I do!
From what I've gathered from the Iliad, Diomedes' relationship with Athena is much more formal than Odysseus' relationship with Athena. So here's what I've got:
I imagine Athena sees Dio as an obligation. She feels that she must watch over Dio as an obligation to his father (despite Tydeus going a little coo coo at the end there). When Tydeus dies, Diomedes is a little boy of four with only his mother, sister, and grandfather to take care of him. Because of the Seven Against Thebes' failure, very few could protect her former bestie's son. So she felt the need to at least watch him.
Athena was very distant from him, though. Conversations were rare and usually only happened if she was helping him in battle. To be blatantly obvious, Athena was hesitant to interact with Dio. Because of what happened and how Tydeus died, she sees the family as tainted. She can't shake what happened (I go into more detail here). So she just watches.
Because she's so distant, Diomedes sees her as above him. She's a god. He's a mortal. That's all they ever will be. Yes, he knows he has a stronger relationship with her than most (one of his eyes turned grey, so her influence is evident), but she's not a friend. She's a protector and ally, sure, but far from someone he would consider a friend.
That starts to change over time (partly thanks to OdyPen and partly because of Athena's growth), but I won't totally give it away.
my uni is offering a class called “torah in ancient israel” in the fall and i’m taking it because

Quarterly Goal Update // October 24th, 2022
As you know, I chose Blood of the Fallen as my focus for fall quarter. I am rewriting the first draft for the indefinite future, and I decided to try some new things, like writing a prologue. After reading Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo, I rediscovered my fondness for prologues and epilogues.
The first ten chapters of any manuscript are always…
