Trope of the day is... realizing they've basically been in a relationship for a while now.
Perfect for that married couple in the friendgroup that isn't actually a couple yet. They often find out about it because more and more people act confused when they say they're not actually a couple. Even people they've known for years think they've been dating all along.

Characters who are so compassionate that it borders on self-sacrifice. Characters who are so broken by the cruelty of the world that they make it their mission to save as many people as they can. Characters who don't know how to and don't want to be selfish. Characters who are collapsing on themselves but still devote themselves to others' wellbeing. Characters who hate themselves but have an uncanny ability to see past others' scars and mistakes.
Just... characters who are so hellbent on being kind to others that they don't notice their own self-destruction.

One of my favourite relationship dynamics is Person A is relatively normal, Person B has all the mannerisms of a terrified stray cat. B is in proximity to A and it becomes the only goal of Person A's life to pet that stray cat. A is going to make B feel safe, and warm, and pet-able (in a very respectful manner) if that is the last thing they do.
Bonus points if A destroys (in whatever fashion) all the people that dared make B that way...

Emotional reactions I'd love to see written more
For no particular reason, just because I'm a sucker for any kind of overly emotional scene.
Characters getting angry because they're worried. Not everyone instantly melts into a blob of softness and gentle words when they're worried for their loved one. Some people get antsy! "Why won't you let me help you?!", "You are not okay!", "Stop trying to play the hero!". Bonus points if there's a moment of guilt and an apology from either party afterwards.
Genuine disbelief when given news (good or bad). Not just "I don't believe it" or "Oh my goodness, really?", but actually needing to sit down, being unable to process the information being delivered, being in such shock that they can't think. It just hits so hard to read.
Crying with relief. Alright, to be fair, I do see this one pretty often, but I can't get enough of it. The mess of emotions, the opportunity for sweet moments, the way it can drive a plot point home. Whether they're worried about someone else or themselves, it just gets me every time.

okay yknow that trope where authors pretend to be translators or scholars transcribing these ancient chronicles or collecting and compiling historical texts like Tolkien in LOTR and stuff
god-tier, perfection,…
BUT!!! yknow what would be even better?
that same trope but the author has very obvious beef with another author of the same field
and while there would obviously be plot there is also a huge amount of "that quack, my colleague professor periwinkle, adheres to a certain persistent theory about elvish gender expression we all know is full of shit and a sexist to boot so his translation of this passage is a load of unscientific horse manure. let me tell you how it reaaally went down…"

Soulmate trope, but it's "soulmates are not born, they are made".
No, it's not fate, or destiny, or "written in the stars". But it's a conscious choice to make your souls fit like puzzle pieces. It's tenderness, and it's passion, but it's also courage and readiness to go through pain of reshaping pieces of your hearts, so that in the end, after arguments, and compromises, and sacrifices, your souls match like two parts of a long-lost whole.
"It wasn't written in the stars, so we had to fight for it and carve it into the sky ourselves."

Fuck therapy all I need is;
"You said you never wanted to see me again."
"I did."
"And yet here you are."
"Here I am."

An absolute sucker for the trope of the protag getting good at combat by relating it to their favourite dorky ass video game.
Woah! I have to fight this guy?? This is just like Blorgmaster 3 The Lost Creemp, level 12 boss battle against Schlorgenborg the Destroyer!
And then they just fucking destroy a highly trained assassin like it's nothing

you know when a character has an iconic outfit, but they begin their story in an entirely different outfit only to slowly acquire the iconic one as their character develops?
yeah, that

Favourite trope: fucked up men descending even further into madness because they lost the women they loved.

Characters I want to see more/Tropes I love
• In appearance, cold-looking male characters with a delicate personality
• Comic relief who help others and have a dark past
• Older characters who are strong and passionate
• Elegant / chic characters with a soft spot
• Lonely characters trying to find peace
• Platonic soulmates
• Cold women (rich girlboss)
• Romantic relationships that look more like friendship
• Characters who have romantic feelings for each other, but both sides have too much respect for the other to say or show anything
• Found family
• Long distance best friends
• Business partners with some tension
• Calm character A and a confident character B duo
• Characters with self conflict
• Touch starved characters giving lots of love to others
• Professional relationships that begin to become intimate
• Age gaps relationships that are gentle (legal of course)

• More mental than physical relationships
• Glamorous men

You know those ‘hero has a corruption arc and joins the bad guy’ tropes?
Now here me out: trope where it’s revealed that the hero had never actually been a hero. They were always evil, possibly even partners with the one believed to be their nemesis, and had just been hiding it as a tactic.
Also counts as reverse assassin-becoming-part-of-the-found-family-they-were-sent-to-kill,
where it’s instead you-thought-I-cared-but-me-and-my-‘rival’-are-actually-besties-and-you-mean-nothing-to-me
