Coming back to Tumblr after a really busy and difficult month to find everyone talking about Del Toro's Pinocchio really is something.
I have never in seven years participated in the Discourse but ooh the disrespect for the original novel is testing me.
Anyhow I'm back!! I have lots of writing updates to share (including a new WIP) and I can't wait to catch up on everything!

January Book Recs
My favourite books that I read in 2023! (In no particular order!)
Summer Sons by Lee Mandelo (M/M, codependency, Supernatural Dark Academia vibes)
House of Hollow by Krystal Sutherland (delicious little YA horror!)
Vampires, Hearts and Other Dead Things by Margie Fuston (A lover letter to vampires stories and grief)
The Last Tale of the Flower Bride by Roshani Chokshi (Got me in my fairytale loving heart. Exquisite writing style.)
Fraternity by Andy Mientus (M/M, 90s dark academia, demons)
Yellowface by R.F Kuang (Tense, fascinating)
Once Upon A Broken Heart/The Ballad Of Never After by Stephanie Garber (JACKS!!!)
In The Lives of Puppets by T.J Klune (M/M, Pinocchio retelling)
Honourable mentions go to:
Vespertine by Margaret Rogerson (I love the dynamic between the protag and their demon companion), What Moves The Dead by T. Kingfisher (retelling of The Fall of The House Of Usher, got me obsessed with this writer) and Friendaholic by Elizabeth Day (thought-broking, memoir style non fiction, about how we talk about friendship).

Telling stories to Pinochio fron Lies of P about Fairytales or whatever crap reader made when reader is bored !!
[Preferably former librarian Reader x Pino :3]
Tell me a story and I'll tell you I love you
↳ Anon I absolutely love this prompt, so I had to write a little something for it. This is definitely more focused on Pincchios' feelings for you as opposed to the actually story telling bit, and I think by the end especially it kind of stops being about the request a bit I am so sorry LMAO. Let me know if you want hcs or something else instead! :D
↳ This is currently unedited, I’ll do that tomorrow!
Tumblr media
Pinocchio sits beside you, head resting limply on your shoulder as he finds himself falling deeper in love with you.
You’re sharing one of the many stories in your knowledge with him, something old and undoubtedly picked up from your time as a librarian. Something – Pinocchio thinks – that only you know now, expect maybe Antonia, but he’s seen you catch even her by surprise with fanciful worlds and characters. It’s an insurmountable act of love, to hold so much in your mind and with such care. No details [at least from his knowledge] forgotten, no characters left aside for fear of boring the crowd. Every bit just as important as the other, no matter how minuscule it is.
Some part of him wonders if you do the same for everyone else, collect the lore of the hotels final inhabitants with the same wonder you share for characters. What do you remember about him? Pinocchio likes to think that you hold onto everything he’s shared with you, sprinkle him across the stories of your own making. Maybe he’s something that inspiration can be found in, someone you admire more than anything. Built up in your mind like the greatest of heroes. You could care that much, he thinks, and he could even be your favourite.
Maybe you’ve even found Pinocchios’ love for you spread across his pages. He doesn’t see how you could miss it, there’s so much that he doesn’t even know what to do with it except sink in it. Day after day, night after night. He’s sinking even now, nestled into you side in one of the hotels many unused rooms.
It’s your voice that keeps Pinocchios’ attention. You’re onto the part of the story where a great battle takes place, the last defence of mankind against a dark and terrible lord. Both the lords strongest servant and a king have been slain, and yet despite the story nearing its peak Pinocchio finds himself unable to focus on your words. He catches phrases, can understand your tone and the pronunciation of speech, but it’s difficult to put the meaning together. Any other day and he’d be engrossed in it, hanging of every syllable like a starving animal, but today his mind is preoccupied.
The feeling in his chest is growing unbearable, and he wonders if his gears will simply cease to work as a result. It might not be the worst thing in the world, to die by your side. He might even be able to call it a pleasure, a privilege.
Still, Pinocchio doesn’t particularly care for the idea of his own death, especially not when there are more pressing matters on his mind, and so with a bout of almost uncharacteristic boldness he sits up. You don’t pay him any mind, not until hands – rougher than he means them to be – turn your body towards his. Lamely your sentence finishes, head tilting to the side and eyebrows knitting together in a look of confusion and mild amusement.
Pinocchio takes the opportunity to look at you, really look at you. Blue glass eyes take in every detail, every curve and dip and mark, your breathes growing shakier as he leans in. There is a mole under your left eye, he notes, a faint scar running across your mouth. He traces it with his finger and your breath hitches, an incoherent mumble of something that feels like it’s his name. Moonlight shines in above your head like a halo, and Pinocchio thinks you couldn’t look anymore gorgeous than you already do. He wonders if he looks as beautiful to you as you do to him. The sparkle in your eyes, the glint of what could be called awe suggests that he does. Pride and love fill in Pinocchios’ chest until he’s moving without thought, leaning – sinking, always sinking - into you. Lips, clumsy and adoring, press against your own in a fleeting kiss, pulling away before you’re given the chance to respond.
You see the man before you grow from confident to timid in the moonlight, as if coming to the realisation of what he had just done.
“I-” Pinocchio cuts himself off, going to speak only to be met with his own silence.
He doesn’t know why words aren’t forming, and for a moment he wonders if something malfunctioned in him during the kiss. You can see the gears turning in his head, a question forming on the tip of your tongue. This time, Pinocchio cuts you off instead of himself.
“I’m in love with you. I’m sorry to be so sudden, but I,” he takes a moment to steady himself, “I could not be quiet about it any longer.”
A breathless laugh bubbles in your throat in response, a smile curving its way on your mouth as you go to speak, “I was wondering if you did. For a puppet you’re not exactly the most subtle person I’ve met.”
It’s Pinocchios’ turn to be surprised.
“You knew?”
“I was hoping I did. Never said anything because I didn’t know if you felt that way or if it was wishful thinking on my part. Hell, didn’t even know if you could actually feel such a thing. I mean, I know my stories are good, but I didn’t know if they were that good.”
“You... feel the same.”
“Of course,” the smile on your face is crooked and it takes everything in him not to kiss you again, “you’re a very hard person not to love.”
“Say it, please.”
You laugh once more. It is the sweetest sound he’s ever heard.
“I love you, Pinocchio. More than anything,” his heart feels fit to burst, “now can I please get back to my story? We’re nearing my favourite part and I’d like to be done by morning.”
“Yes, please. I would like that.”
As Pinocchio settles back into your side something in him clinks into place. He is unsure what it is, but as your hand slides into his and your fingers intertwine Pinocchio thinks that this is what it means to feel at home. The feeling of love only deepens, tearing it’s way further still into the recesses of his being. It will leave him bare and broken before you, he is certain of it.
Listening to you speak; Pinocchio can’t think of a better way to be swallowed whole.

not me actually tearing up a little at your tag #something about someone’s favourite vision of you being just your normal wonderful imperfect self
the whole show makes me so emotional about how everyone looks so normal and so much of what the characters love about each other is wrapped up in normality and imperfection. like stede and ed’s first kiss being while they’re both in the navy issue clothes and they both look so different to how they did when they got to know each other. pete whittling lucius the wooden finger. jim’s favourite colour being the colour of olu’s earring. archie falling in love with jim because of how they told the pinocchio story. stede loving ed’s objectively bad breakfast in bed attempt. them continuing to be so fucking earnest and sincere with each other even after anne and mary make fun of them for it
it’s such a hopeful positive show that repeatedly says ‘someone will love you exactly as you are. you are enough. you are more than enough. your normal everyday self is somebody’s idea of perfect’

Hello and welcome to my 2023 reading wrap up! A big Thank You to everyone who followed my ramblings throughout the year! <3 I will continue through 2024. Maybe I'll learn how to write proper reviews, at least I'll try to remember better what I actually want to say about the stories. In 2022, I read 93 books plus my own. Guess how many it were in 2023? 93 plus my own!! xD That was huge coincidence and I love it. Of these 94 books, 4 are rereads (which won't be included in the "Favourite" sections), 2 are non-fiction, 11 are non-queer. I only DNFed 1 book (which is not pictured) and other than that I only disliked 6 books! (And it's a pretty soft dislike in comparison. I don't hate them nearly enough to want to shit on them again. :'D).
So on the the awards!
Most Read Author: KJ Charles (8 books)
Least Favourite Book: Daresh (Katja Brandis) (the one I could not finish for dear life)
Favourite Character: Brand (The Tarot Sequence) and Will (The Will Darling Adventures) (yes, there's a trend)
Favourite Covers (of books I read, not releases):
Tumblr media
(There were too many. D:)
Highest Emotional Investment (aka The Agony, the suffering, the why you do this to me Award): Dark Heir - The Scottish Boy - In Memoriam
Wildest Story: The Adventures of Pinocchio
Favourite Books:
The Devil's Luck (L.S. Baird)
The Scottish Boy (Alex de Campi)
In Memoriam (Alice Winn)
Just Lizzie (Karen Wilfried)
Dark Heir (C.S. Pacat)
The Will Darling Adventures (KJ Charles)
Gwen & Art are not in Love (Lex Croucher)
The Buried and the Bound (Rochelle Hassan)
More Books I enjoyed greatly:
Oracle of Senders series (Mere Joyce)
Of Feathers and Thorns (Kit Vincent)
Wren Martin Ruins it all (Amanda deWitt)
Simon Snow series (Rainbow Rowell)
The Five Stages of Andrew Brawley (Shaun David Hutchinson)
The Tarot Sequence (K.D. Edwards)
The First and Last Adventure of Kit Sawyer (S.E. Harmon)
Sixteen Souls (Rosie Talbot)
By any Other Name (Erin Cotter)
The High King's Golden Tongue (Megan Derr) and more!!
Most Used Name: I counted names last year and didn't want to do it again this year because I read so much fantasy, so the names were all over. Still, there was one who stood out amongst them all with at least 4 instances, if not more. Probably more.
Will
Congratulations. I have to admit, I've always liked that name. My favourite character of all times and part of my one and only OTP is named Will as well and I kinda hope the last book of their second trilogy never comes because it will probably make me scream and ... ...
Bonus! This year, I counted pages! Because I felt that most books were much shorter than what I read before. So I wanted to know. Turns out, my feeling was wrong. My 93 books had a whole of 33011 pages which results in approximately 350 pages per book. That's pretty normal I dare say.
That's it for 2023! I had a very good year in books. I wanted to read less actually, and failed spectacularly because I had too much fun. And if anyone's wondering how I read so much, I read fast and I just didn't do anything else in my free time. Escapism to the max. I hope, the new year treats you well! I hope, you have fun with the books you read! Let's meet again soon! <3

story ideas idk what I'm doing
soooo basically I've had some ideas for some oneshots with our favourite puppet in my mind for a few weeks now. Buuuuuut since I propably won't have the time nor the skill to write them, I will just leave the ideas here.
Feel free to use these ideas if you feel like writing a whole story to them (but tag me because I want to read them >:) )
(also excuse any spelling mistakes, English isn't my first language)
After some time had passed, a few more people seeked refuge within the safe (more or less) walls of Hotel Krat. Among them, some children. The reader, a rather young adult themselfes (maybe freshly graduated from school/college before the franzy happened) spend some time with the children, giving them small teaching sessions based on their basic knowledge which they had gathered from school and their notes they still had in their bag. Pinocchio noticed that and at some point listened to their "class", after all he also has got a lot to learn since he is not a human and fights all day long. (Now imagen a whole grown ass man (puppet) sitting with a bunch of children on the ground infront of the reader who uses a small chalkboard (which they found in the library), listening to them explaining the basics of idk fotosynthesis or something like that).
2. This one is simple, just P with a reader who like to bake. Simple. Whenever the puppet returns from a mission, the hotel is filled with a pleasant scent of chocolate, cinnamon or vanilla, while everyone is already munching on some cookies or small pastries (can you imagen how cute Sophia must look while nibbling on a cookie, trying not to get any crumbs onto the carpet? :')). The reader themselfs also smells like chocolate or whatever all the time since they just spend all day preparing food and other stuff for their friends in the hotel (it is their way of thanking everyone for letting them seek refuge there).
bonus: since P propably isn't able to eat, at least not while he is a puppet, the reader keeps a small notebook containing all the food/desserts Pinocchio would like to try once he is able to (kind of like Al from fmab if yk). Until then he eventually helps the reader in the kitchen, even if most of the time he only watches since he has no idea what to do
3. This one is kinda angst/comfort stuff idk. Also kind of a sensitiv topic so if anybody feels offended by this please tell me and I will delete it!!!
Basically the whole events happening in Krat took a great toll on the readers mental health. Sadly, they were the only one from their family/friendgroup who was able to survive the attack, living now in the hotel with other refugees. Nightmares and guilt haunted them day and night as they constantly had to think about these horrific events, giving themselfs the fault for not being able to safe their loved ones. This kind of behaviour caused them to completly loose themselfs, now only being numb to everything, not finding any reasons to do anything. If they could decide, they would just like to stop existing. Thats when your boy appears. Let's say he is in his mid/latestage of becoming a human (yk like with his hair grown out n stuff). Him and the reader knew eachother for quite some time, since the reader was one of the first people to appear in the hotel, somewhat helping him to achieve his goal in becoming more human (like explaining emotions and other human things to him). Pinocchio also draggs them along when he discovers something new. Wether he did it intentionally or not, he helped the reader to fall in love with being alive again with his behaviour of basically acting like a small child who sees the world for the first time. Dancing in the rain while feeling the small raindrops gently touching their skin, watching small insects in the garden together, listening to the soft tunes of the gramophone in the entrance hall, playing with Spring, you name it.
4. This one is for ma boys Romeo and Carlo, so basically before everything happened (or in an AU where they survived and just lived their normal lifes... idk). So my first idea for them was just some tales from their school life, back at the Monad Charity House. You know, basic teenager/young adult stuff; studying together, training together, doing stupid shit in class together, always eating together at the same table in the dining hall, sneaking out together to hang out in the city, and much more.
I guess this would be a perfect crack oneshot/drabble
5. the second idea is a bit more romantic. Idk how I came up with this (I am delusional), but I thought about the reader attending another boarding school in Krat, which holds a close relationshiop to the Monad Charity House, Carlo and Romeo live in. Therefore, there are several events the two school hold together like a sports festival or something like that. Another one of these events are the grand balls which both schools host. It is their intention to a) establish more contacts and relationships among the studends and b) for them to also learn how to dance, eat and behave in a more formal way at social gatherings. So at one of these balls, the reader meets Romeo and Carlo and gets to know them better. Since I think it would be easier to write for only one of them (correct me if I am wrong), one could add the best friend of the reader who then gets to go with the options the reader did not choose (does that make sense?). For example, the reader and Carlo get rather close, shyly asking each other if they would like to dance or go outside to talk more, while the readers best friend does the same with Romeo (very stereotypical, I know). Maybe the Romeo x best friend combination would tease the hell out of Carlo and the reader since I view Romeo as the kind of person, to drob teasing comments here and there while being the biggest flirt himself and Carlo is one of the people, who on the outside also try to be like Romeo, but in reality are a complete mess when it comes to romance and stuff (yet again, only how I imagen them). (Have I already mentioned that I am delusional?)
so yeah these are my ideas which I will just leave here. As I already said, feel free to take them and do your own thing with them ( but I wanna see the result :)))) ). Also feel free to add your own ideas/inspirations to them
also this is my first real post here so go easy on me haha idk what I am doing here but for now I will be your "Fanfiction/oneshot-idea-dealer"
:)

Now I want to hear about your favourite X-Men stories, arcs or issues!!!!
In all the confusing reading I've done, still with a lot of things missing, I love a lot of X-Men stories. Out of all of these, the one I feel like I can really say "Yes, this is my favorite X-Men story ever" and I don't think I would change my opinion even reading the stories I haven't read yet, is "God Loves, Man Kills".
Both as a fan reading one of the most classic stories of the X-Men (everytime I reread it I still feel like I'm pointing at the TV when I see that one panel) and in a more personal sense of how a story about religious fanaticism resonated with my life surrounded by various facets of religion. It is realistic and portrays prejudice in such a raw way, even in its mistakes. For me, it's THE X-Men story.
Others that I have to mention
Dark Phoenix Saga: Do I really have to explain the Dark Phoenix Saga? The story that changed Jean Grey now and forever in a tale about power, humanity and will? The sacrifice, the choice. Looking at all the power you could ever have and saying "I don't want it."
Archangel Saga: Warren Worthington III, typical good hero with a real good heart, who just wished to fly in peace, is betrayed by a trusted friend, robbed of his greatest happiness and turned into a sick parody of what he once was. It's such a cruel and ugly, but beautiful story about how the Angel falls from the sky.
Lifedeath: The goddess, without powers! The way it depicts Ororo's loss of powers is always a punch in the gut, and the way she keeps on thriving without it, keeps on being leader os the X-Men? Unmatched. It's still a story I read when I need strength to keep going
Hox/Pox: I would say "This is not a classic as the other ones" but this is a modern classic. The reinvention of the X-Men for the Krakoa era, for a new life and a new dawn really makes this memorable.
Now, one that's not a whole story and not as famous, All-New Wolverine #17 & #18. The arc, the conclusion. #17 has a great paralell between Laura and Pinocchio about lies and wanting to be a real boy, and #18 has the final fight of Laura and Kimura. I should stop having that 8th grade shame and just admit I have a unhealthy love for ANW
It's both a Laura reclaiming her identity as her own woman and a legacy moment, as Logan was tortured and brainwashed into a living weapon, and when he started to break free of Weapon X, he used the name Wolverine and it became a sign of his autonomy, and when Laura is facing the woman that tortured and brainwashed her into a weapon, ending her abuse once for all, she says "I'M WOLVERINE" as the sign of her autonomy.

Disney 100 ✨🏰🤍
Tumblr media
Wishing you all a happy new year and to Disney, a belated 100th anniversary! 🎉
To celebrate Disney’s century milestone, I created an illustration based on 100 of Disney’s most known and loved characters from their respective movies/ series. I’ve included all the ones I’ve known and feel are generally popular but I’m sorry if your personal favourites aren’t here.
This has been in the works for almost four months now but due to many delays I couldn’t finish it on time. So here it finally is!
Out of all these range characters, the hardest to draw was the Cars. I’m not used to drawing cars so I’m not generally good at them (yet). Some of these may look simple and easy to draw but trust me, they’re not 😂.
With drawing the characters and the background, I like to be accurate with the respective style it’s drawn/ animated in and the colours too. But also I wanted to also simplify the 3D ones and add a little depth using shadow to the 2D ones. For example some of these films would have a desaturated grainy effect to it and I wanted to keep that. But finally after months of working on it, it’s completed and I’m happy with it! ✨.
Please, please do check it out on Instagram too:

If this link doesn't work, my username is @/artofzafrasarfraz - it's where I put all my drawings up on. Please do Shar on stories and comment. Much appreciated 🥹🫶🏼

I honestly didn't expect to look at Sekiro and Astarion and go "hey, wait a minute, these are just the exact same picture". but not only are their story arcs basically identical, they are also examples of what has become a bit of a favourite storyline of mine. what I have dubbed "The Reverse Pinocchio Arc".
it goes a little like this:
evil father figure finds a real boy, and decides to add to already existing trauma in order to create a puppet for himself.
puppet gets lost on his own in the world, and through the power of friendship he slowly starts to become more real.
eventually puppet confronts father figure and says "no, fuck you, I want to be a real boy again", and can actually be free.
and I think that's beautiful.
(or, alternatively, he can entirely give up on being real and turn into a monster. still "free", but no longer a real person. now he's just a puppet for something else. something even worse. and he's going to make it everyone elses' problem.)

I finished "Lies of P" and got 2 endings, not sure if I wanna suffer all over again in NG+ for the 3rd ending but we shall see. I need to rest my hands for an entire week to recover because they got overworked in this game lmao
But tbh I did NOT expect to love this game so much considering it's soulslike, and those are pretty hard. In fact, Lies of P is even one the harder entries in the genre (if not the hardest) and I'm not gonna lie, Pinocchio's beautiful face really made me pull through playing the entire game HAHAHHAHAHAHAHA But tbh the gameplay is SUPER FUN!! I ended up enjoying it so much that I was just playing every day nonstop and the story was just so /clutches chest/
I felt so proud of myself that I saw how much I have improved compared to how I started. I felt like I have transcended into another dimension when I've beaten the final boss on my first try XD IDK WHO I WAS IDK HOW I PULLED IT OFF BUT I DID???
Anyhoo, the art style, music and story really shines in this game aside from the gameplay. The mere fact I got so attached to the NPC's at the hotel was surprising. Made me cry in some of their stories. :'(
I recommend this game to anyone who is willing to die a lot of times to learn. 10000/10 for me, I don't care what anyone else says. It's my personal rating HAHAHA Lies of P has become one of my favourite games and it deserves all the praise it is getting. Here's to hoping it will win some awards because it's truly deserving. The game is made with lots of love and it shows.
Plus, how can you not love that Pinocchio is such a beautiful sweet boy? :'D Do it for him and make him a real boy!!

Like with the collage I did of Disney and American McGee's versions of Alice from Lewis Carrol's original novel, I thought that should do a similar one on Pinocchio. To be honest Disney's take on Pinocchio wasn't my favourite Disney film, either was Alice in Wonderland (part from their 2010 remake), but I love the story plot of Lies of P and the game's version of Pinocchio. Everything about the game, from the animal themed masks that the stalkers wears (that P collects) to the Golden Coin Fruit tree are all references to Carlo Collodi's original novel.

Bro I realized I write hate towards Scaramouche... (My main is Wanderer. Don't question my love/hate relationship with that Pinocchio ahh looking bowl haircut little bro)
Ugh Fatui era Scaramouche was and still is my shit. Reading amazing works revolving around him helps me calm down if I'm stressed or having a rough time at home.
He used to be my favourite harbinger until the infamous trailer which shook the fandom came out.
He's still very high on my list, second favourite. ilysm scaramouchie.
BUT THEN THEY RUINED HIM IN THE SUMERU STORY QUEST AND MADE HIM BLUEEEEEEE. I get it was for character reasons but did he have to change his whole identity and colour scheme? Not only that but have anemo as his element? When I saw leaks for him being playable I was so excited for another electro unit.
I still pulled for him on his first banner and had to lose the 50/50 to Diluc for him to come home. I named mine Atarashii <3
Anyway I truly am going to bed now x

Something just annoys me when people say that Neverafter failed as a Horror Season. .
It was a horror season. It just moved through various horror sub genres. Did the vibe change after episode 3? yes. Did it still be a Horror season? Also Yes.
The Subgenres: Body Horror. Comedy Horror (That was the most one used, because it was 7 comedians in a HORROR SETTING), Dark Fantasy, Folk Horror, Cosmic Horror.
Horror doesn't need to be scary 100% of the time. Horror can just be creating a world of dread and uncertainty. A world where anything can happen. It was tense, it was spooky, it was a horror season.
Fucking hell. .take the video game Alien Isolation. The xenomorph learns how you play, but occasionally you know it's around, but you cant fucking see it or it's not that. That is the horror of the game. That is the tension. The pay off, you get enjoyment out of it.
Also I read a lot of horror books at the moment. The times I have been scared by a scene in a book, i can't count that high, but the reason why? The tension and the building to a reveal. The pay off. It's amazing. For Example: I got creeped out in The Ritual because of the style of writing and descriptions of the forest. You don't even see or read the description of what is chasing the main characters until literally the last chapters. I'm not kidding. That book is pretty much a Folk horror.
I've read some crazy body horror / splatterpunk that I'm not going to describe fully. Been creeped out so often and scared.
Also read some insane haunted house / psychological horror books as well. Those scare you because of the tension, the atmosphere and the build up to a moment. Like I have been fooled by a moment, where I think a scare or a jump is coming then nothing until it actually hits you.
The reason why people occasionally say it failed as Horror Season, just have one view of what a horror style TTRPG is. The common examples I believe are, Call of Cthulhu, Vampire the masquerade and Curse of Strand. Or just think horror is just how much we can scare people, jump scares galore right. It's not.
For example horror moments I loved in Neverafter:
The Spider fight. . Anything and everything could have gone wrong. And pretty much the aftermath. the description of the town being that fucked up because of the spiders.
PiB with the giants at the end - if he rolled badly, who knows what would have happened. But also he is a tiny black cat.
EVERYTHING WITH THE STEPMOTHER. Just my god. The description of her eating her children. Like the description of that moment of the group fleeing from her in the Library. Her treatment of Pinocchio. "I don't even have a name in my own story" speech (yeah that creeped me the fuck out)
Everything about Candlewick. . Yeah it was played for laughs because of Lou throwing away a Nat20 but Candlewick was just terrifying. My favourite Zac moment of that "so Brennan, who is being eaten"
Honestly the whole deal with the world between pages - that's Cosmic Horror, especially with the ink pot etc.. not going to lie, I was on edge with that episode, because my mind was going, something is too good to be true here, something is going to happen.
Ylfa - yes, 100%.. just her story, on one hand it's heartbreaking but the other the description of her eating the wolf to become the wolf..
Rosamund - got to admit I think why people think it failed as a horror season is because they were expecting more scenes like we got at the beginning. That opening sequence is incredible. The other briars moment that sticks in my head is the final fight one with Thumbelina.
Sorry for the ramble rant about Neverafter.
TLDR: THERE ARE MORE SUB GENRES FOR HORROR THAN PEOPLE THINK. BESIDES IT WAS A HORROR SEASON BECAUSE OF THAT.
