I love them all so much 🥹 I figure I might as well write a lil about them so more info below the cut!

Athon Surana is my warden!

He's a crunchy little bookworm who would much rather be researching or reading than fighting (or sleeping. Or eating. Or brushing his hair. Pretty much anything else).

He's an arcane warrior. Not because he wanted to be a frontline fighter or wield a sword, but literally because it requires less effort and thought than casting spells in combat. That's not to say he's a bad mage - quite the opposite in fact - but he doesn't want to spend the mental energy on fighting when he could much rather use his brain for Other Things.

Zevran is the love of his life, though I think them getting together is more incidental than anything else. Athon would likely have never sought companionship from anyone at all if he was left to his own devices, but he enjoys the time he spends with zev very much!

I imagine he's currently buried under a pile of books somewhere in Weisshaupt. The events of DAD will absolutely happen around him and he won't even bother to stick his head out of the library.

Garrett Hawke is.. well, you know

I love the default name and appearance for Garrett. The more I play DA2 the more it sticks as the only option for his appearance in my mind 🥲

I think my headcanons for him stick pretty close to canon - maybe with the exception I imagine him being even more pro-mage (perhaps even slightly racial) compared to the options you're provided in-game?

Anders is his romance and Garrett is very much All In on his ideals. Tbh I DO headcanon that he put together the plan about the chantry explosion and never stepped in because he supported the action.

I imagine he and Anders are off galavanting around Weisshaupt, waiting for Athon to finish developing a cure for the taint (and annoying Carver until the end of his days, certainly).

Lennox Trevelyan is my latest inquisitor!

He's the oldest of my three inquisitors, and incidentally the oldest of his siblings as well. Getting sent to the tower at a young age was frustrating and I think he held a lot of resentment toward his family and the circle for being caged as he was.

He also lost his faith during his years in the circle, which was quite jarring for someone raised in such a devout family.

That Lennox never saw any of his siblings or his parents again really Messed Him Up for a long time, and left him with a little bit of an inferiority complex and a smidge of abandonment issues 🥲

The inquisition (and his role in it) made things both better and worse - the power never went to his head, but he was certainly a bit of a radicalist when it came to freedom for mages and equality amongst all those under his command.

His romance is Dorian, and tbh with his disbanding of the inquisition, I imagine he went chasing after him to Tevinter (darn abandonment issues strike again), acting as a liaison for Leliana as divine.

Ashiriel Lavellan is my middle child with a weird AU backstory

SO Ashiriel is my one character that breaks a lot of the established lore. She was inspired by an au I built for myself and then never posted anywhere around... 2018? Where Dorian fled Tevinter with the help of the chargers a year or so early.

Ashiriel never imagined herself a mage. She made it 25 years without any magic manifesting, then during a traumatic incident when caught by some nasty noblemen in the forest, she lit them on fire (and half of herself too).

Basically, to cut an incredibly long-winded backstory short, she was rescued by bull and Dorian after they stumbled upon her. The chargers stayed with clan Lavellan for a time, helping Ashiriel heal and defending them as they moved away from Wycome etc.

They don't meet again until the tear etc, but all this sort of informed how I built Ashiriel in the game!

Cullen is Ashiriel's husband and I imagine they live happily ever after in the woods of ferelden, mutually healing from their extensive trauma 😌

Veren was my first inquisitor!

Veren is a precious little baby, new to the world just like me lmao. We both knew nothing going in to inquisition, so I was a stupid dumb dumb idiot and romanced Solas on my first playthrough with her.

We're both not over it.

Veren is a rogue (the only non-mage out of all my protags haha), but because she loved and trusted Solas, she kind of worked heeding his advice the whole game.

The one exception would be the well of sorrows - still reeling from the breakup she decided to ignore him that one time and... Well, we'll see what happens there, I suppose.

You bet your ass she's chasing that stupid egg across Thedas and beyond. Veren is hella determined and will stop at nothing to try to redeem Solas. Or maybe she's in denial, hard to say.

I reread your fic where Misha and Devon mess with Claudius with the whole respect your victor sibling thing, and I ended up on a runaway thought train over what jokes they'd play on Other victors. Somehow this led to the idea of them having Alec on about it being a village thing that you wear your mentor's clothes as a sign of respect! It's a tradition! They take time to point out that Devon Is wearing Brutus' sweater at the time.

Of course, this is in the injured Creed au and Callista's outfits are. Those.

“Bonding,” Alec says, instead of the word that immediately comes to mind, which is: Bullshit.

Artemisia and Devon aren’t bad liars, is the thing. Both of them won their Games through manipulation as much as martial prowess, and they’ve turned their skills up to full power for this little prank. They’re holding back the glee, they’re not overselling or going overboard with the sincerity, the delivery really is impeccable.

And, of course, as any trainer would tell you, all good lies contain a hint of truth. Alec has seen half the Village traipsing around in shirts too large for them. Most likely Victors do borrow their mentors’ clothing all the time as unconscious comfort objects, creating the kind of bonding element that the two in front of him are attempting to convince him is part of a formalized ritual.

It’s not their fault Alec was essentially raised in a nonstop bullshit-detection bootcamp since the day Selene learned to speak in sentences.

He could tell them, of course, say Ha ha, nice try and send them off, but then again … what’s the fun in that? They did go to all this trouble. “So what’s the best way to show respect?” Alec says.

“You have to steal it,” Devon says. “That’s part of the ritual. Then when they see you in it they know you went to the trouble to get it.”

That’s probably not the lie, Alec decides once they’re gone. Brutus grouses about Devon nicking his sweaters all the time in a way that’s clearly performative, if he hasn’t asked him to knock it off after over a decade he can’t actually hate it. Village rituals are complex and arcane, and the newbies have to be initiated somehow but they’re definitely hazing him, so the trick is figuring out what part of this is real and what’s meant to be the joke.

Years of dealing with Selene have made Alec eminently practical. He could spend hours trying to puzzle it out, or —

He lets himself into Callista’s and sits on the rug, cross-legged so that the cats can pool into his lap. “Why are Artemisia and Devon trying to trick me into stealing your clothes?”

Callista’s sharp bark of laughter startles Bartleby, who leaps off her shoulders with a disgruntled backwards glance.

“Ohhh,” Alec says, staring at the mind-searing array of outfits in Callista’s walk-in. The organizational arrangement defies description but appears to fall along a vague theme continuum of ‘dancing animals’ to ‘hardcore BDSM’. “I get it now.”

“You cannot convince me these are comfortable,” Alec grumbles as Callista adjusts the last buckle.

“My clothing does not promise comfort, it promises impact,” Callista says, beatific. “Although it should never hurt, darling, let me know right away if anything pinches.”

Alec will cherish several moments in his life — Aunt Julia’s hands patching up his wounds, that night on the roof before Creed entered Residential, seeing his name on the Volunteer list, the clear ring of the victory trumpets — but the absolute dead hush of conversation like an entire plate of cutlery falling to the floor at his entrance to the monthly signing party might top the list, at least right now.

“Hello,” he calls out cheerfully. He saunters over and drops next to Devon and Artemisia, Claudius scrambling away from him as though he’s on fire. “Did I miss anything?”

Petra has a face like she swallowed something sour, her eyes darting back and away from him like she can’t stop staring even though she’d really rather not. “What the fuck are you wearing. Did you lose a bet?”

Alec only smiles wider. “A bet? No. I’m bonding with my mentor just like everyone else. A normal part of Village life. Isn’t that right, mentor?”

Callista, settling down like a gentle cloud next to a delicately and professionally aggrieved Adessa, says, “But of course. I, for one, have never felt closer.”

“You knew,” Artemisia manages finally, accusing.

“Did I?” Alec reaches out and snags a chocolate from the box in front of her. “Did you want me to do something else?”

(Claudius, in a frantic whisper: “What the fuck is happening?”

Brutus: “Don’t encourage them.”)

Artemisia narrows her eyes, but finally points a finger at his face. “You know what? Well played, rookie. But I’ll get you.”

He gives her a Selene smile, sharp with challenge. “Go ahead and try.”

Arcane x TOH Pilot/Pitch?

So I rewatched Arcane and I’ve also been looking into the TOH pilot/pitch bible and I just did what came naturally: I made an AU!!!

ACT 1: Luz and William are siblings, with Luz being older by 5 years, and they lived in the 1600s, so obviously their family was accused of witchcraft due to racism and that shit so Luz and William’s parents were burned at the stake but Luz managed to take Baby William and run off into the woods. One of the witch hunters followed them and cornered them against a rock. That witch hunter was - you guessed it - Caleb!!! He was intending on bringing them back to Gravesfield so they could suffer their parents’ fate but seeing Luz’s scared little face overwhelmed him and in the end, he couldn’t do it. He led them further into the woods where they met up with Evelyn, who was a real witch. Caleb and Evelyn agreed that the kids could seek shelter in the Demon Realm, and that Evelyn and her family will raise them. A rebellion and sibling rivalry later, 13-year old William wants to help his adoptive father and sister fight against Philip but Luz tells him to stay behind. Thinking his sister didn’t want him, poor William has a meltdown but then comes up with an idea. He would sneak off to where Caleb and Philip were gonna fight, light a match, and throw it at Philip, burning him alive and saving the day. But instead, he missed Philip and it fell to the ground, starting a fire. Caleb was distracted by the sudden fire and Philip took this as a chance to stab him. Caleb and Luz share a heartbreaking loss moment and William comes out of the shadows, telling Luz he saved them…only to find out he killed Caleb. Enraged, Luz slaps him and tells him to leave and never return. William is horrified and heartbroken but does as she says, walking off into the distance. William finds Philip’s cave and seeks shelter there, and he’s found by the guy. Philip decides to put William to sleep…forever. He didn’t kill him, if that’s what you’re asking, he simply put his body in a little glass coffin and put a memory-erasing spell on him.

ACT 2: Fast forward to 2 years later. Luz is 20 now and she discovers a time pool which sends her hundreds of years into the future. By then, William had been awaken by Belos and grew up besides Hunter. The two have a brotherly relationship and William doesn’t even remember Luz’s name. Luz is heartbroken by this and decides to go back through the time portal because as long as he’s happy, she’d be fine. But the time pool is gone!!! So she has to team up with Eda the Owl Lady, her adoptive mother’s descendant, in order to create a new time pool that leads back to the 1600s. In her journey, she’ll meet many new friends and properly reunite with her little brother once again.

That’s all for now. I’ll update this post once I figure out the plot for ACT 3, but it’s obviously supposed to be based on what happens in Arcane.

Are there any major changes to canon you think you'll make in the sunshine au, other than the obvious? I've seen you talk about things you didn't like about wizards, and was curious if that meant you were gonna tweak it for the sake of the au

Oh I am definitely going to be doing a lot of tweaking to canon for the sunshine au.

As people have probably guessed already, Mary and Darci will be included in team Trollhunters from day one, and Barbara will be in the know from the start as well. Another major thing is that Douxie will join the main cast during the equivalent of TH season 3 and will be heavily involved in the battle of the eternal night. How the TH crew gets introduced to the Tarron siblings will also happen a little bit differently (Steve finds himself sworn to secrecy by two different groups and is very conflicted before he convinces them to talk to each other).

Then we get to the things I'm changing for salt related reasons...

First off the slaughter of the Janus order won't be just a thing that happens and is immediately forgotten about. The same with changelings in general; the beginnings of gradual acceptance of changelings into mainstream troll society is going to become a big plot point.

For the most part 3Below season 1 will be untouched, but for season 2 I'm planning on unkinking a lot of the major inconsistencies that were introduced (Krel needed to scavenge technology for weeks to build a Daxial array but can MacGyver together a wormhole generator with spare parts? No way. Kubritz's motivations changing on a whim based on what the plot demands? Fuck that.)

Speaking of inconsistencies, while the basic plot for Wizards will stay the same, the gang going back in time to Camelot and to make sure the battle of Kilahead goes as planned, I'm going to tweak events to actually keep a consistent continuity between the events of TH and Wizards. For starters, Merlin gave the amulet to the trolls several thousand years earlier, meaning Deya wasn't the first, and their trip back in time will be foreshadowed and built up for a long time leading up to it. Also Jim's transformation won't be undone, he'll remain a shifting halftroll permanently.

And for RotT I'm going to do what I'm doing to Wizards time a thousand. The Arcane order will actually be built up and foreshadowed as antagonists, that god-awful Steve mp//reg plot will not happen, all the characters and their individual arcs will line up with their journey to this point (no BS "Am I still the Trollhunter without the amulet") and when I say characters I mean characters, plural. Jim is a hero but he's not the hero, they're a team and each character will be given equivalent attention.

And most importantly there will be no time travel retcon ending. One of the major themes running through this series is that the world is rarely broken down into black and white options, we just have to choose the choices who's consequences we're able to live with. And I'm f*****g sticking to that. The group's victory will be hard won and bittersweet, not without sacrifice, but in the end they'll create a better world for both the mundane and the magical.

Sorry if I sound so salty I love Tales of Arcadia but it has some deep flaws especially with that dumpster fire movie.

It’s almost 4 am, so I’m thinking of my characters and their fighting styles, as one does when they’re still wide awake.

The Main DA group

Moira: taught by Highever’s finest tutors, but never had to actually put things in practice until the night her family’s home was attacked. Knows how to fight, but she has a learning curve for her to follow through with her attacks with the intent to kill vs running practice drills. Later, Zevran takes her under his wing (pun intended) and picks up where her instructors left off.

Vivian and Gavin (wonder disaster eldest twin duo): mix of quick, practiced knife fighting and using the environment to their advantage. Pretty much anything is a weapon before Gavin’s forced to throw a fireball at their enemies as a heavily ingrained survival tactic. “Take care of your brother” is also a heavily ingrained phrase, so Vivian puts herself in the line of fire to shield and/or take attention away from Gavin without even thinking.

Rolfe: scarily efficient, get the job done quick and move on just as quickly without anyone noticing tactics. The only times he’s flashy is when there’s an audience and he knows he has a role to play for certain perceptions.

Vincent: would rather talk things out, but will fight when given no other option. Normally takes a defensive stance out of habit: casts shields, arcane blasts, etc. but can wipe multiple people out with chain lightning or fire. Has learned how to summon flame in a way that it looks like he’s breathing fire purely for intimidation purposes, earning him the title of the Dragon of Ostwick.

Ravena: had some mandatory weapons training from the Chantry guards and resident templars, but when Rolfe found out that his favorite cousin needed training, he took it upon himself to provide it. The end result was a mix of sneaky, stabby knifework with some dirty fighting tactics thrown in.

Marian, the Sprouts: they fight dirty and every single one of them got their first dagger lessons from Uncle Rolfe (or dad, in Marian’s case.) Bryony and Primrose will bite without warning. Rolfe is incredibly proud of his daughter and nieces.

Alex: WHY would anyone want to fight this boy? He’s a 6’4” human version of a golden retriever who would rather buy you a drink and make friends than actually fight. He can hold his own, but really, you have to get through his sister first and Marian is scary. Takes more after his mom with sword and shield fighting. Has also, like his mama, punched a tree while suffering from seasonal allergies. (He apologized to it later.)

The Detectives

Lucas and Zoe: (if ever there were an AU where any of my detectives were siblings, it would be these two) straight up brawlers, no real finesse save for some self-defense training. Lucas has a more predictable boxing style while Zoe swings fast and hard and angrily without really having an easily telegraphed shot. Both are good for quick fights but lack the stamina and speed for anything more prolonged.

Charles and Rowena: “can we talk this out???” Both of them have little to no experience in combat and would rather find a non-violent outside the box solution if conversation was out of the question.

Astrid: as the result of having a former battle goddess/fey nanny who basically raised her in the place of an absentee mother, she’s trained since practically childhood in multiple forms of combat. (Fiona figured that running practice sword drills = tired kiddo who didn’t fight bedtimes and she was 100% right.) She was on her way to being an Olympic fencer when injuries from a major car accident shut that path down, but Fee modified some training, pulled some strings, and got her really into longsword competitions and LARP tournaments for fun. Adam still hasn’t agreed to sparring with her after finding out that his underground Fight to the (almost) Death opponent is her instructor, but she feels like she could hold her own against him. She also bites, like full jaw power, “I bit Murphy’s nose off when he had the audacity to kidnap me” bite strength. Fiona cried when she heard what her wee beastie had done, she was so proud.

The Oregon Peeps

Paxton: he’s a lover, not a fighter, but used to play baseball in college and still has a hell of a swing with a nail studded and barbed wire wrapped bat.

Rita: the sharpshooter in the relationship. Prefers the quieter crossbow instead of firearms for stealth reasons. Has used a wrench in a pinch, but doesn’t like having to get up close and personal with the freaks while on supply runs.

Elena: silenced handguns are her go-to weapon of choice when out in the shit, but she’d rather be stealthy and avoid conflict with marauders and infected alike before she has to use her sidearm.

The D&D crowd

Briel: “I’m a cleric, but…” main way of healing her friends is to beat up the bad guys before they can actually hurt her friends. Carries a big hammer she’s named Helga and goes into a rage when calm doesn’t quite work.

Molly: fluid, almost graceful moves with a cutlass. She moves like the sea she’s most at home in.

Merwin: “MY WIFE IS SUCH A BADASS” support, but also a stormy brute force to be reckoned with. Fights with a trident he stole claimed as a birthright from his family home.

Daniella: long distance archer who prefers to stay out of harm’s way and offer support to more heavy hitters. “My version of help from above is a sniper on the roof” combat method.

Lilian: can use a longsword, but you can definitely tell she’s not comfortable doing so. She traded Sunny music lessons for sword tips, but is more at home with a well-placed eldritch blast or other offensive spell (preferably at a distance, as she’s almost died three or four times already and would like to Not Do That.)

Damian: he just wants to be left alone with his books, thank you very much. Will throw a fireball if pressed, but would rather work on his illuminated manuscripts in peace.

Darien: fighter with a structured, strategic combat method that he learned from his background as a knight. Tries to keep to a code of chivalrous conduct when possible, feels extreme guilt when he can’t.

Mouse: small, quick, takes the “fuck shit up and get out of harm’s way fast” lessons the Queen of Thieves taught her to heart. Stab, stab, disengage and/or try to pick her target’s pockets before running away is her usual tactic. Has bitten and will bite again.

What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending? Like Guq, most of what I write tends to be short fluffy one-shots, so, like, most of them? But if I had to pick one, maybe this post-canon polyamorous triple drabble for Nirvana in Fire is it.

Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the weirdest one you’ve written? I do! I've written several! I think the silliest is probably my Untamed/Me & AU crossover where the crossover is actually with Selkirk, the fake TV show that the Me & AU characters are into.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind? I do! It's usually pretty nonstandard in some way or another? Fierce corpses, eldritch or otherwise monstrous characters, ace & trans characters, kinky stuff, not much of a focus on penetrative sex for the most part (not that I haven't written penetrative sex, mind)

Do you respond to comments, why or why not? Yes, though not on any particular schedule. I will reply either right away or months later, and there's not any method to which it will be XD

Have you ever received hate on a fic? Only once but it was that Xiyao troll that was going around being an ass to everyone who writes even a smidge of non-negative xiyao, so it didn't really bug me. I've received some "well actually" style comments as well, which are more annoying.

Have you ever had a fic stolen? I fucking hope not! XD;;;

Have you ever had a fic translated? Yes! And a poem, too!

Have you ever co-written a fic before? Ahaha I sure have! See above -- my most popular fics are all cowritten ones.

What’s your all time favourite ship to write for? Well, according to my AO3 stats, it's a tie between SongXiao and ChengQing (9 fics each), although WangXian and platonic Yunmeng Shuangjie are in second place (7 fics). I think WangXian suffers from the "background canonical ship" effect in my fics, though, for the most part. But honestly, I like a lotta weird lil rarepairs so the 151 fics I've posted up on AO3 so far are mostly all one-offs.

What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will? But, After All, I Am A Wen my beloved 😭😭😭 I'm trying, I swear.

What are your writing strengths? I think I write good dialogue! I also think I'm pretty darn good at, like, interior character work? IDK how to phrase that. But, like, conveying shit about a character's psychology in a show-don't-tell sort of way. I hope.

What are your writing weaknesses? Finishing the damn thing. ;-; Also anything that involves choreographing bodies in space absolutely destroys me. Fight scenes, sex scenes, dance scenes... I struggle.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? I like it if it's done smoothly! In my own writing it varies a lot how much I insert from languages other than English, and my reasoning is mostly about flow and tone.

What was the first fandom you wrote for? In a notebook never shared with anyone I think it was Irene Radford's Dragon Nimbus series, where I think I inserted a unicorn character? First thing I ever shared online was a Yugioh fic where I inserted a dragon shapeshifter character. (I have since removed it from the internet.)

What’s your favourite fic you’ve written? Uhhhhh. How can I possibly pick??? I like most of them! I still go back and reread a bunch of them for my own pleasure :)

VETH BRENATTO - HEADCANONS: REWRITE NOTES.

too lazy to write it in connected prose form... so, here are the basics for my beloved.

elsbeth ‘veth’ brenatto is born in felderwin to a regular, if not big halfling family of 8: her mother (aisley brenatto) and father (travis brenatto), and her 5 siblings, 2 older and eventually, 3 younger. 

felderwin is a small rural agricultural village that provides a sizeable percentage of the dwendalian empire’s overall staple foods. they’re a very tightknit community- everybody knows each other and they help each other. barter trade is prevalent in their culture, and though they have coin, they usually trade with each other.

as soon as she was old enough, veth helped with the family. she took care of her younger siblings, nurtured her parent’s agricultural business, reeled in her elder siblings.

she didn’t want to do so. she was more interested in other things: she traded for a whole chemist set as a kid and spent most of her time experimenting with potions: acids, healing potions, the like- and when she was not working or experimenting, she was pouring over every book.

veth actually could use magic even before the campaign! she could do cantrips: she could conjure a small burst of fire, and she could summon an ethereal hand for a little bit. (volstrucker au with @/widocasts will expand more on this!)

a mix between felderwin not being known for magic or the arcane and the pressure to ‘make her family proud’ led her to stay in felderwin for most of her life.

she wasn’t very popular with the other kids- mostly seen as a know-it-all and a girl mostly in her own head. she butted heads with the kids a lot, and they did not like it. she was asked out by yeza as a supposed ‘dare’ by the other kids, but she took pity on yeza because he was nice, and looked like he didn’t want to be there at all. she kissed him first.

eventually, they became friends. they had a ‘second meeting’- veth saw yeza working on his potions and instantly walked over to ask about it. her family didn’t like yeza due to his eccentrics, and her siblings called them a good match because they were ‘weird’ together. yeza’s family accepted her as one of their own. veth proposed weeks after so she could finally escape her family. it wasn’t out of romantic love, but they do care for each other very much. (depending on the universe: if a ship isn’t plotted out, yeza and veth do fall in love eventually. if a ship is plotted, then the marriage simply stays platonic.)

yeza took her surname in the marriage, as weird folk do. things go as per canon: they adopt a son and call him luc, short for lucky- if only to sell their marriage, but veth loves him very much! veth grows more and more comfortable with yeza’s family, and she finally has a sense of self-worth and self-esteem. 

yeza opens an apothecary due to veth’s nagging (she says his craft is excellent!)

the goblins kidnap them all because of yeza and veth’s knowledge of specific potions. yeza helps veth out of her bonds, and then veth helps luc out of his- she tries to run with all of them, but she’s caught by the goblins as her family escapes. she kills the leader, and she is turned into a goblin by isharnai, at the behest of the leader’s grieving wife. then, as punishment, she is forced along the clan’s journey, her knowledge of potions used. she is named nott by the leader, and mocked with the title of ‘the brave’.

veth, now nott, tries to escape the clan multiple times. she fails multiple times, but eventually, she manages to knock them all out with a snuck sleeping potion in their shared foot, and escapes quietly into the night, trying to find a way (or a potion) to turn her back to a halfling.

after the events of the stream: veth, luc and yeza become vagabonds. they might’ve travelled with jes and co for a bit, but they went on their separate ways. they travel all over exandria- first, wildemount, then, tal’dorei, then... (this may open up more chances for cr1 muses and veth to interact!)

veth adventures and helps those who are misfortunate. she may not go on big adventures like she did with the mighty nein, but she helps villages and/or cities that fell to war. she kills monsters for a little bit of coin. 

yeza opens a travelling apothecary, so he can open his shop wherever they go.

luc, eventually, grows up, and goes on an adventure on his own...

eventually, they’ll settle down in wherever they like the most around the world...

notes:

she keeps a bottle of acid on her at all times. if she’s given it to others, she will spend all night trying to remake it. it’s her only source of comfort.

her traits have only been amplified because of the curse. even as a halfling, she stutters, she’s loud, she occasionally steals, although just to playfully tease her siblings / collects, and she loves some good ole wine. 

after the curse, she struggles with the aftereffects: she still pickpockets. she still has memory problems. she still struggles with her body image.

she has a cockney accent throughout. sam robbed us of this

she’s multilingual! she knows halfling, common, goblin, thieves’ cant.

the brief halas arc has more impact on her instead of her easily being swayed by caleb & co. more plotting & brainstorming pending, but it’s possible she leaves with halas altogether for a while, and they have to get veth back.

Sbi&CO d&d AU: Shubble Character Analysis

It's that time of the day again dears!! And today, we're going to see what place in our d&d universe is stored for the wonderful Shubble! 

This was requested by a lovely anon, and I do hope they'll appreciate it!!

Shubble seems to me, at the same time, a very sweet person and a lil minx. 

She gives me mom vibes and younger sibling vibes at the same time, and I have to say I love that. A lot. 

This said, her character was a casa of "the class finding the character, not the character choosing the class". Meaning that when I wrote HBomb's chapter, I knew he would be meeting with a Fae Monarch, and I knew I wanted him to be reminded of an old friend who was a warlock. 

The problem I posed myself was "who would make a good fae warlock, among H's friends?" And after a bit of thinking, Shubble was my best guess.

Faes are, for anyone that was wondering, a bit like the typical fantasy book fairies. I say "a bit", because they're 100% not all good and positive. They're cryptic, mischievous, charming, prone to creating illusion and tricking mortals. 

Most Faes live in the Feywild, one of the many planes that exist in the d&d universe: it is like the Prime Material Plane (I swear to you that is the name of the plane where the main story takes place I am not kidding) but it has a lot more arcane magic and is generally considered much more beautiful. 

In particular, the Archfey pact for a warlock means that said warlock will be able to charm their enemies more easily, or invoke fear through magic. 

An Archfey warlock will waltz through the battlefield and make the fighting stop - either as the enemies all suddenly regard them as a friend, or because they're too busy running away in terror.

With Shubble being extremely connected to the Feywild, I decided I could go all in and make her an Eladrin.

Eladrins are basically elves, but they're elves born in the Feywild - so yes, Shubble did move from one plane to the other, that is something that can be done, there are portals for that. 

The thing about Eladrins is that there are four main types, each one connected to the seasons. And the best thing is, they're not fixed. An Eladrin can change their season depending on their mood, or they can change it depending on the season that surrounds them (once per day, but still, it's very cool).

Eladrins also have an ability called "Fey Step", which is the equivalent of the Blink spell as it allows them to teleport instantly to an unoccupied space within eyesight. 

They can use Fey Step basically once per fight, and this is extremely good because warlocks can't cast spells many times and this frees up "energy" to use on other spells. 

BUT it is not just that. After reaching their third level - which has happened to Shubble as she is at 5th - every time they use their Fey Step they have an added bonus that depends on their "type". A summer Eladrin, for example, is able to teleport and then inflict fire damage to all creatures of choice around their spot of arrival. A spring Eladrin can instead touch a willing creature and said creature will be teleported instead of them.  

Overall, Eladrins are very cool.

As for her background, she'll be a noble. This fits what I have imagined for her backstory, but it also fits canon d&d lore: there aren't many eladrins left in the Feywild, and those that remain are part of ancient noble families.

So, in summary:

Shubble is born in the Feywild, as the daughter of a noble family of Eladrin. 

She is extremely curious, enchanted by the forest and its mysteries. When she's 10, she stumbles across a light pink coloured pond, seemingly bottomless, and starts to chat with the "Fairy of the Pond". Mostly an imaginary friend, to her. 

Until she becomes of age, and suddenly her sole purpose in her house becomes being a good girl, a proper woman, a future respectable wife for a person she doesn't even know yet.

And her Fairy of the Pond promises to help her out, to protect her, in exchange for her to help them out in the future - when a big storm will come, the world will need protection. Will you be ready, then?

Shubble reaches with both hands into the water, palms cupped upwards, and the sip of shining rose water feels like breaking her family imposed chains. 

She leaves, that same night, following the directions of her friend - who tells her that they won't be able to speak to her as much, but they will always be with her, always guarding her, always protecting her. She sneaks through seemingly endless tunnels, her heart filled with hope for her future, until she stumbles into a wall made of light and finds herself in murky waters. Now, inside the Prime Material Plane.

She makes many friends, grows up to become more and more powerful while never letting go of the sunshine that is inside of her. 

And when the storm looms at the horizon, she answers the call.

so i’m sick and that means i’m thinking about my warden, champion, and inquisitor when they’re sick and how their LI’s react

Warden Ghilana Surana: 

What sickness? This woman could have the actual plague and still be going. She feels like she’s going to pass out? Lmao guess again. She’s downing a lyrium potion and getting right back to business. During the Blight, she caught a cold and Alistair was severely worried because she lost her voice, thus incantations were out of the question. However, in her discomfort, she found great strength, especially as an Arcane Warrior. What she could not use through incantations, she used through her blade, through wards scribed, through sheer intent. She conjures ice to keep her fevers down and when that isn’t enough, detonates the heat as flames around her.

After the Blight (and Alistair leaving her lmao), she spends a great deal of her time adventuring and recruiting with Nathaniel Howe. This means exposure to the elements that is far less than kind. A rogue doesn’t know healing as a mage does, but that doesn’t stop Nathaniel from trying to help. 

He’s tender in his care of her, despite her abject protestations. She’s fine. She’s always been fine. She always will be fine. Such resolve can play into her downfall at times. 

Just a year before the Breach formed, she took ill while she and Nathaniel were far, far to the North, closer to Tevinter than she’d ever ventured. They had to take shelter in a small, abandoned hut and Ghilana had no energy to do much of anything. She had been staving off the illness for nearly a two weeks through magic alone when it finally caught up with her. She collapsed during a hunt and Nathaniel took her to the nearest shelter he could find. 

She slept for days, waking only when he begged her to drink, eat, and down concoctions. The ratios of his potions were almost right, leading her to sleep for too long or have too vivid of dreams. 

After all of that, she got out of bed, cleaned herself, and carried on as though nothing had happened. Nathaniel was very, very unhappy, but he knows better than to argue with his angry elvhen wife.

All in All: Very Capable of Handling Herself. Will fight and throw fire as her temperature rises. Will do anything to keep others from worrying, laughs it off when she has to. 12/10

Amelia Hawke, Champion of Kirkwall:

Her boyfriend is Anders. Her symptoms are never allowed to go beyond a stuffy nose. 

Just Kidding. There are times she tries to hide it from him. Having Eldest Sister syndrome, taking care of herself usually isn’t high on her priorities. Making sure that her friends stay out of trouble and that her mother is alright are her top priorities. She’s the Mom Friend and her own ailments can wait. When she’s sick, she does her best to mask her symptoms. A light cough can pass as dust from the Lowtown streets. Her stuffy noses can be attributed to allergies.

Oh? That pale, clammy appearance with her glassy eyes? Probably ate something bad and didn’t she say it was allergy season?

Even at her worst, she makes sure to get her rounds in, often collapsing in bed the moment she gets home. Her mother, Bodahn, and Sandal are the only ones who ever see her sweat with fever. On those nights, her mabari stays close. It isn’t often she sees Carver since he left for the Templars but she still sends a care package when Cullen makes mention that he’s ill. Even if her brother hates her, she does what she can. 

Over the years, Anders would notice how she would change when she slept. What had been a minor cough turned into a deep rattling in her chest that roused him from sleep. Most times when he heard such a rattle, the outcome was unfavorable. Winter fever was a hard case to cure, but luckily he had the fortune of catching hers early and was able to treat it. Her mabari acted almost like a nurse hound instead of a warhound. For once, Anders was grateful for the dog’s presence. 

From that moment on, he made her swear to tell him when she was ill. With great reluctance, she agreed. 

All in All: What Sickness? Eldest Sibling Syndrome to the max. She even still takes care of Carver, despite him being a shitty Templar. Big Heart 10/10 

Inquisitor Mirani Lavellan:

She sleeps heavily and often when she’s ill. The Fade has always been a comfort to her, even when demons encroach on her weakened body. Naturally, this causes some concern within the Inquisition for the Inquisitor to “sleep on the job” so to speak. But she’s there when she needs to be. Potions, herbal teas, sweaters, and thick pants abound, but she’s there. 

Solas is more than happy to comfort her and keep the demons at bay while she rests. He fills her dreams with small secrets and memories of a time long since passed. He knows he shouldn’t but the contented sigh she lets out is worth it, even if it’s through wheezing snores or a stuffed nose. 

Mirani is more emotional when sick. She is an Empath with deep connections to the Fade and the forgotten feelings that dwell there. Being ill makes her no small victim to strong emotions, either. Battle is where she feels the strongest, where her magic is purest and most powerful. 

Being a Rift Mage gives her access to powers untapped by nearly everyone, save her Trainer and Solas. But calling on the Fade takes a great deal from her when she’s ill, as she has to be wary of manifesting her intentions as energy and not invitations to demons. Her focus and emotional state causes her mana to drain quickly between powerful spells. So much does she expel from herself that Solas stands at the ready to catch her should she fall and sound the retreat.  

During the times she had exhausted herself and had to be carried back to camp, she would protest vehemently, saying that she was okay. This gained her nothing but stiff-lips and furrowed brows from her companions. Except for Cole, whose panic was palpable. 

She’s naturally freckled and has a great deal of color to her light olive skin. This color increases tenfold when she’s sick. The tips of her nose and ears turn red and her cheeks nearly glow from fever. When sickly and nauseous, her olive hue turns closer to that of pallid elfroot. This doesn’t happen often, though, and she’s thankful.

Mirani never stays sick for long. Only a couple days at most. The longest she was ill was after the fall of Corypheus. 

She was down for two weeks, doubtlessly in-part to her fatigued heart and melancholy. Even so, she would find herself dreaming in a place unfamiliar but comforting, like a forgotten lullaby from one’s childhood. A melody she can recall, but never remembers the lyrics. During the days, she’d drag herself from bed and do her best to ignore the ache in her lungs and the incessant pounding in her head. Varric often told her she looked like shit, Bull and Sera were not much kinder. Still, she had paperwork to fill out, memoirs to write, requisitions to approve and deny. The work of the Inquisitor was never done.

With the Anchor growing worse in the two years that pass, she notices her immunities starting to fail. Dorian sends special teas and potions of his own making for her that serve to invigorate her. They work for a while and when they stop being as effective Cole is more than content to keep her company, popping in and out of the Fade when he feels her hurt. It’s harder to help her, knowing that the Anchor is the infection eating away at her. 

IF AU HAPPENS: Despite having only one arm, she still holds tightly to her words to Solas and follows him into the Eluvian. Now weaker than before, she knows she has to find a way to restore herself without explicitly asking Solas to mend her. She’s gone two years without his help, despite what she feels for him, and she will continue to find her way. She taps into the natural magic of the Crossroads. Its energy is much like that of the Fade, but purer; its intents are whatever ones wish is and she channels it to build herself back to strength. Solas marvels at her tenacity. She controls old magic so freely, so easily, as though she had always known how to wield it. She feels better than before, healthier than she thought she could after dealing with the instability of the Anchor for two years. 

IF AU DOESN’T HAPPEN: After disbanding the Inquisition, Mirani is exhausted and finds that she just wants to be left alone. Now with only one arm, no Inquisition, and no Clan, she ventures deep into the Arlathan Forest. The old magic here feels familiar and she is content to feel it wisp around her like leaves being kicked up by an autumn breeze. Through careful practice and occasional mishaps, she’s able to rehabilitate herself. On her worst nights, however, she would be lulled back into sleep with dreams of foreign memories. The visions were clearer there and the tender emotion encasing her quieted her disturbed soul. The spirits there often seek to help her when she’s in need of aid and Cole occasionally appeared to keep her company, even if he was not explicitly needed. 

All in All: Naps, warm clothes, give her tea and a blankie. Very emotional but does what needs doing. Overall, very soft. 7/10 (but 100/10 in my heart)
