also, do you know any other fun proteins where the amino acids react with eachother to form a new chemical? like residues 65-67 in GFP cyclysing to form the chromophore?
to start, i had a bit of a hard time finding the right search terms for this question, and a lot of what i found is more focused on synthetic or enzymatic methods used in labs, rather than lists of natural examples. if anything is wrong or missing as always pls lmk! i rambled a lot so that info is going to get hidden under the cut, but here is the tl;dr of three relevant PTMs
one takeaway I had from trying to find things is just how unique GFP actually is! it has been important enough for studying biological systems that its discovery was awarded the nobel prize in 2008, and a lot of incredible chemistry went into modifying its structure to make other fluorescent proteins in different colours. this is important if you want to look at more than one thing by fluorescent microscopy, and was done by altering residues around the chromophore to influence its protonation state/pKa through the local environment.
disulphide bonds:
so many proteins: insulin. RNAse A. chymotrypsin. etc.
isopeptide bonds:
the collagen-binding domain of S. aureus Cna and probably several bacterial pili have intramolecular isopeptide bonds
Vibrio cholerae, which causes cholera, makes isopeptide bonds to cross-link actin in its host
there are more examples of isopeptide bonds on wiki
biaryl ethers:
a lot of these are not made by ribosomes, and it looks like all of them are fairly small and funky looking peptides, but i think that has to count at least a little bit. here are a couple:
patellamide A
telomestatin (the wiki page on this one is so short and as far as i could tell, we aren't even sure yet if this is made by ribosomes or not so i'm really pushing things here on what counts)
letter sequence in this ask matching protein-coding amino acids:
alsdyknwanytherfnprteinswheretheaminacidsreactwitheachthertfrmanewchemicallikeresidesinGFPcyclysingtfrmthechrmphre
protein guy analysis:
for all the time i spent on this post, the protein itself is kind of underwhelming. its a shorter one with three alpha helices and a small, two strand antiparallel beta sheet, with some loops in between. this could be a real peptide, or it could just be the confused ramblings of an algorithm trying to make shapes out of an input. the confidence score is pretty low, so as usual my bet would be on the latter option, but who knows? maybe this could stably exist in real life? dream big and all that
predicted protein structure:
Tumblr media
the main keyword i was using was 'protein cyclization', so i'm sure i missed a lot, and most of what i found is focused more on synthetic methods, but i was still able to get some good information.
this first article here gives a nice overview of protein cyclization, and a lot of different and super neat ways it can be done. if anyone wants me to give a more detailed breakdown of this article i would be happy to, since i'm not sure how clear it is to people without much of an organic chemistry background.
this next article gives an overview of post translational modifications, and also looks like a good resource with a lot of information. there are so many different PTMs out there, so if you'd like me to discuss one in particular a little more, let me know as well.
this gave me a few specific PTMs to find examples of.
the first and most obvious is disulphide bonds, which are what you are describing, but far less unique, so i also want to give some other examples
another example is isopeptide bonds, which are formed between an amine and carboxyl group just like a regular peptide bond, except that these amine and/or carboxyl groups are part of the side chain, not the peptide backbone
and finally, i found biaryl ethers, which i had never actually heard of before, and are only made by microbes and scientists, and are interesting for pharmaceuticals
there are more examples that involve cyclization with the backbone, and other types of PTMs beyond cyclization, but i've already spent too long on this, so if you want something more specific then you have to ask for it

How about "You know what you did" from the writing prompts?
A little post puppet reveal Mortum/Tegan for this one, trying to make their relationship work. Thanks for the prompt! 🧡
You cough against the thinning smoke, dusting soot and debris from your hair and clothes. Your ears ring slightly but you're still in one piece, with barely a scratch on you — you'll take that as a win. You stretch your mind across the premises searching for threats and find none. The explosion was either a warning or a distraction, but for the immediate future, you are safe.
Beside you the good doctor unleashes a string of French curses so quickly your implanted memories of the language struggle to keep up. He tries to clean his glasses against his own dirty dress shirt to no avail.
"Are you alright?" You ask because it feels like the right thing to do, you don't see any obvious injuries. It's not the first time he's been in a scrape, it's not even the first time you've been in one together — your first date was even more explosive, though you wore a different body then.
"No, mon c-" He cuts himself off from the endearment and that's how you know you are in trouble. "I am not alright." He punctuates the last word with sharp air quotes.
"Is…there anything I can do?" Another question that feels right but how would you know? Relationships are tricky, you're still trying to gain your footing when it comes to dating the good doctor, it all seemed so much easier as Jane.
"I think you've done enough." He abandons trying to clean his glasses and places them back on his face.
"What did-" You start but, he cuts you off.
"You know what you did, you know you can't play the fool in front of me, it won't work." He crosses his arms and stares you down.
You could brush against his mind and see what has him so upset but that's a risk even you are disinclined to take. The doctor's rapid fire thoughts are a bag of cats on a good day, trying to discern them is like trying to read something in an encrypted code or a secret language. Besides, you doubt this fragile thing you're trying to cultivate between you would survive another breach of trust like that.
So you ask.
"Could you spell it out for me then?" Even you aren't sure if that was exasperation or an attempt at humor. You never were very funny.
"One night!" Dr Mortum holds up a finger to emphasis his point. "Just one night with no villains, no heroes, no schemes and no fucking explosions! That's all I wanted!" He pinches the bridge of his nose, bringing himself back under control after the outburst.
"I didn't blow up the restaurant." You know your excuse is a lame one but it's all you have.
"No, but you were the reason it happened." He hugs his arms against his chest, his normally immaculate clothes all but ruined.
It's the truth but it doesn't hurt more than realizing you inadvertently put him in danger. He quit the villain life years ago, did you ever stop to think about what dragging him back into it might be like? Of course you didn't, you're too used to adrenaline junkies like Ortega and Lady Argent. Too used to always being on high alert that you expect the same of others. Dr Mortum is cautious and usually prepares for the worst but maybe he really did just want a normal, quiet night out with his date.
If only you could do normal.
'I'm…sorry." A barbed wire word if there ever was one. "but we should leave before the LDPD shows up."
"We can agree on that at least." He rubs his arms and you don't know if hes shivering from adrenaline loss or because of the cool night air, his own coat lost somewhere in the debris.
Slowly, tentatively, you remove your own and offer it to him. It's an echo of a thing you've seen a hundred times before in movies, it's what the boyfriend does, and if that's the role you've cast yourself you better play it well, even when if feels absurd. You? Someone's boyfriend? Actually dating? It's laughable, especially with someone as brilliant and charismatic and handsome and so many other words you could use to describe why you love him.
To your immense relief he accepts it, draping it over his shoulders. If you weren't focused on him you wouldn't have caught it but a stray thought slips through that he likes the scent of your cologne that lingers on your jacket.
"The cars not far." He says just to say something because you both know its true, you arrived together after all.
You nod and follow him. You're not looking forward to the talk in the car but it looks like you haven't made a catastrophic mess of things yet and for that you are immensely grateful.

i’m a game dev student at an art school and i’ve been really struggling with finding my niche…. i LOVE being a environment/modeler/texture artist, and i want to have more skills in the design/tech side… but i’ve been struggling really hard with learning unreal engine 5 for my classes. do you have any experience in unreal5 blueprinting or just anything more on the tech side? i would appreciate some advice to get through these tough college quarters :’D
Whenever someone entering gamedev on the programmer side is struggling to figure it out, there are generally two reasons for this.
The first is that they're struggling to get into the programmer mindset. Blueprints try to bridge the gap, but code doesn't work like english. It doesn't even work like the human brain. When we think or talk we take shortcuts to formulate or convey ideas because we can trust that when it comes time to interpret those ideas another person (or ourselves in the future) will fill in those gaps. This is so intuitive to us that we don't even notice that there are gaps. Programming forces you to become aware of how many gaps there are and fill them, and quite frankly it's a humbling experience.
I'm probably not saying anything you don't already know, but I want to emphasize that the way coding works is unintuitive to most people and we need to retrain our way of thinking to get good at it. This is unfortunately not a fast process. It's very common especially for new programmers (though I'm not immune even now) to go "I'm a fucking idiot, I'm a fucking idiot, I'm a fucking--I'M A GENIUS" because of the cycle of shit not working for stupid reasons and then finally working.
The second problem is that they're unfamiliar with (and overwhelmed by) the library they're working with.
A "library" in a programming context is typically collection of functions and objects you can import into a project, but each game engine has its own built in libraries which the engines are built around. These are the verbs and nouns that aren't built into, for example, C++, but have been added by Unreal Engine to make it easier to make games.
The better the game engine, the larger the library. Unfortunately, the larger the library the more overwhelming it is because that's a lot of shit to learn.
In your case anon the "library" would refer to the different kinds of nodes you can add to the blueprint. When you're new to it, even an expert Unity dev will struggle in Unreal because they don't know what their options are to accomplish things.
Now the reason I break down the new-programmer hurdles into two distinct problems is because they often seem like one problem, which can make it hard to solve. Both get better with experience so sometimes slamming your head against a wall is a viable way to get through them, but it's not the best.
If you think your main issue is the first problem, you can work on it through "exercise." This can be in the form of taking programming courses on codecademy (I'd recommend C++ since you're using Unreal, though C# isn't a bad choice) or by playing a game by Zachtronics like Infinifactory or Opus Magnum. These games are "programming puzzle games" and I can personally attest to having gotten better at Infinifactory as I got better at programming.
If you think it's the second problem, the biggest solvent is curiosity. When I get into a new engine, I spend a bit of time learning how it works and then immediately try and figure out how to do dumb shit in it. I made an incremental game in RPG Maker just to see if I could. It wasn't good, but it was a fun educational experience. Sometimes I'll come across a function I don't understand, and I'll open the engine's manual and read about the function and use that as a jumping off point to dive into similar functions.
It doesn't feel good for my advice to be "read the manual" but genuinely there's a point where you realize that you're reading the manual instead of watching youtube videos and it's like, holy shit I'm a real programmer. It's a sign that you're getting comfortable enough in the role that you're learning what questions to ask to figure out what you need to know (youtube is still a great resource of course).
All of that said though, if your aim is to be an environment artist I think it's okay to be bad at programming. Survive college, of course, but if you're in a team with a dedicated programmer (which you will be if you are not the programmer) then all you need is to be able to understand how to communicate with the programmer. It's really beneficial to know enough about the fundamentals of what you're working in to know what info the programmer needs from you and what info you need from them, but you don't have to be good at it to do that!

S4 Ep 83 “The Warning of the Wind”
Boooy do I have thoughts.
I both like and dislike where Ned's been going this episode.
On the one hand I like that he reminded everyone of his nature. Not even the tar monster but more like... an unreliable person with very questionable views? Ned's morals certainly aren't high. But he's been influenced by Bill, by Rob, by the whole Searchers team because they fucking get along pretty well, they are kind to ech other, they have connections. And Ned may try to seem as if he doesn't need any of that, the fact is, he does. He's not a human but humane enough to crave this as an essential part of life. Deal with it, Ned, that's in your nature, now, too, and has been for quite a while.
The thing is, you don't get your dinner if you don't know how to get along. (c) TAD You want connections in a human society - keep up with stuff like morals. It's a contract of sorts.
I'm not done with what I like but I need to mention what I didn't like to proceed.
So on a personal level I don't like this need to be feared. It's just weak from my pov. One resorts to this when there's nothing else to impress or impact others with, nothing better, nothing more meaningful. Anyone can manage being feared if they put their mind to it, it's really not that hard. But how small one should be to resort to only that... to like that? Come fucking on. Being feared is boring. I was, way more often than I'd like to (or at least people have been wary of me and said I looked scary when I had none of that in mind), and every time it was just... "ah, that reaction again. Someone who can't handle me, judging the book by its cover, someone I can't be on equal terms with, and I wasn't even TRYING". So... Ned. Is it really necessary to stoop so low.
Which reminded me again how his personality aligns with some narcissistic traits, quite a number of them actually. Narcissists are very, very vulnerable, that's why they keep this grandiose facade - in defense, in advance. Ned has been putting on airs all the time just to seem as something he wasn't. More dangerous, more clever, more strong, more cunning and mysterious than he actually is. Because he's none of that, not to this extent at least. This is protection. Because he knows his shortcomings and vulnerabilities better than anyone, and he actually despises them. He thinks he's weak so he needs to keep everyone at a distance, because otherwise they'll find out. Lying and instilling fear are good ways to do that actually and to feed one's ego at the same time.
His narcissistic traits were an unpleasant reminder and the reason why I held on for months from admitting I like the character a lot. Because - not fucking again. I really had enough with this type of personality in real world to still be drawn to it in any circumstances. Well. Some roots can't be rid of that easily, and this attraction runs very deep in my personality. Some base coding. Too many levels to hack to get there yet. I'm glad I can at least recognize this type of personality now to keep away from it because apparently I can't resist it.
Anyway, I didn't like this reminder on a personal level because Ned actually showed some earnest development for the better. He's changing, so that was a painful bitter throwback jab.
And the second thing I didn't like - I don't remember him talking about hunting people before. He absorbed them to take up their appearance and memories, yes, but that's not hunting. That's his way of survival. I mean yes Ned is pretty liberal at that, but he never mentioned doing this just for fun. So this whole thing was just out of nowhere and I don't like it from the writing perspective. It isn't sewn into the narrative seamlessly, it sticks out not nicely. It's irritating.
But now back to what I DID like about the same things.
Ned is changing, I believe. And it bothers him a lot. This isn't the changes he's used to, not ones he creates himself. It's his personality adapting and answering to the outer signals, and he can't control it.
It's bringing his vulnerability into the picture again.
I've mentioned in my previous Ned post how he changed drastically because of his affection towards Bill, mostly. All masks are shed, he's openly admitting the most shameful things he believes there are about himself, shares his greatest fears and truths... One can't really get more straightforward than he is now. And this is delicious.
So, if he's already like that, what's there left to fear, right? Why bringing all this "feared monster" stuff back?
Well because he still controls what he shares. He can still more or less control the reactions of others to what he says and does depending on how he does it and to what extent, that's kind of The Narcissistic Thing - being in control of everyone like a puppeteer, only not because it's cool but because then no one can hurt them. They need to control  how they appear to others, and, well, that's the most Ned thing ever.
But the changes that are going on on the inside of him now cannot be controlled like this. He doesn't control himself to the extent he's used to and likes. And so he loses his control on the surroundings, too.
This screams true vulnerability.
Ned is very uncomfortable with this. He's utterly out of his depth. He's so not used to this he can't even pretend he doesn't care. He doesn't act anymore save for a few jokes here and there. He spills his guts about feeling so guilty and not understanding any of this to Kate when she pays him a few minutes of attention, and, well, Kate's been wary around him before, so it's not like there's a strong connection. Ned just likes her. Not as much as Bill, but he does. And Kate is the carer of the group after all - it's not like Ned is the only one tempted to trust her like this. She did the same for Sam before, even though he made her uneasy at times, too.
So he's out of his depth. So to roll a few steps back to the familiarity, to something as much other as possible to this new version he's becoming now, he remembers hunting, being feared, causing pain. These were one of the first things he learnt, after all, they've been with him for a long time. Plus this role of a terrible tar monster used to give him the feeling of safety - no one will attack you if they run away scared first. Or die, because he actually is a tar monster when he wants to.
So he snapped. All the tension, all the pressure of the last several days and the fact that they had to leave Oslow and Bill and Rob together with it - to find a way to make things right again for everyone, yes, but it's still uncertain and frustrating and doesn't fulfill his wish - made him crave something familiar, something safe.
So Ned went for a hunt.
This could only end well.
Frankly what I'm most surprised with is that he decided some little people were okay to hunt - apparently he thought "they aren't human so no one will object". This is a weird way of thinking for someone who isn't human himself. Then again... Ned pretty much hates to be considered a monster and it really hurts him. He's not human by birth and I don't think he'd ever want to change his nature but he wants to be accepted and regarded the same as a human. Why not just being what you are, there are more ways than two... Anyway.
Kate obviously got worried - or maybe she hoped he'd try to go to the Source, idk, - and went to search for him when he went out in the middle of the night. And, well. Saw the hunt. It wasn't pretty even just by the sound. I don't want to imagine how it looked. And she saw all of it.
Then one of the little people shot an poisoned arrow and hit her leg. They were attacking her in general - probably because she seemed vaguely similar to Ned.
Ned heard. And immediately rushed to help her, muttering curses under his breath and already regretting all this hunt. Because Kate saw, and she was afraid now, and he wasn't happy about it at all.
To her honor, Kate let him get to her, even though she was demanding to call for Sam with a trembling voice. Ned explained that if he doesn't get the poison out now, she'll be dead in a few minutes. So Kate braced herself. She's so damn brave, it strikes me every time. Maybe the bravest of them all - she has the most to lose and goes with them anyway.
The "the poison should be out of your system because your blood, uh... tastes normal again" part was awkward, all things considered. Otherwise it would have been completely normal, and I like how the circumstances shifted the tone.
And then Ned carried her back to hotel to patch up. And let Sam and Ren listen to the tape with the hunt because he was running the recording since it seemed to draw the supernatural out. And this is a vulnerability, shown willingly. I mean, it was bad, there's no way around it. The chances the team would say "fuck off" after this were high. Or at least I believe Ned would think so. He still let them listen to it.
Like I've said, he's changing. He's probably not even sure if he likes it himself, but he can't neither stop nor control it. The VAs acting was great, and Ned's voice trembling with panic and desperation when he tried to convince Kate to let him help her, that he's not a monster she should fear... it was so earnest. The last part wasn't said, but it was clear as is. Ironic, considering why Ned went to his hunt in the first place, isn't it.
So I REALLY liked all that. It makes so much sense and also grounds Ned's character a bit - he was becoming a bit too good to be true, a fairytale nice version. Not with this type of personality, pal.
There were a few other parts I didn't like though.
Kate seems to be reluctantly encouraging Ned to go to the Source. Probably because she knows Sam's too rational and had a very telling experience the last time to know better than doing that again if he has a choice, plus he should find Anna. Kate can't afford to lose him like this. But she's uneasy with leaving Bill and Rob hanging, she wants to save them, too. So... does she think they can spare Ned because he wasn't with them to begin with and isn't very trustworthy in general? I... think she is capable of thinking this way. She can be as stubborn as any of the Searchers if she puts her mind to it, no matter what her heart is saying. That's how she was able to leave her family she loves more than anything else in the world and go search for Anna, then work with ISPHA. She used to be uneasy around Sam but that didn't stop her from bonding with him, helping, becoming friends. Because she needed him to find Anna.
So yes I can absolutely believe Kate can act rather heartlessly if she decides this is the most effective way.
But I really, really don't want her to go there. This is so cruel... What I would have a hard time believing is that she decided they can lose Ned if his mission goes south because he's what he is. Because he doesn't exactly fit into their team, he doesn't get along with others well, he's just other and doesn't hide it all that much, now more than ever. Come on, Kate, don't disappoint me. You're better than this.
And the 2nd thing - that Sam had to actually narrate all that about Ned's hunt. We as listeners already got it and processed, I believe. Come on, trust your listeners a bit more! It was sort if disappointing, "tell not show" move.
But then Ned and Sam talked, and I think I've forgiven this whole talking through bit 🤦‍♀️ I'm a sucker for their interactions, okay??? Their relationship is weird. It's sort of antagonistic, but not exactly. Ned says he doesn't like Bailey, Sam really isn't charmed with Ned either and has all the reasons to actually consider him an enemy. But. They still do get along, weirdly. Angrily. They are alike in some ways - more than just being born from the Source, more than just being human-shaped creatures. They feel like reflections, like brothers who don't get along but are still connected.
And I think they actually do like each other, at least partly, but don't want to admit that even to themselves. It's complicated. Ned is... VERY open around Sam. Not even trying to have an upper hand anymore. They are on some special terms with each other, and I can't quite explain it. Doesn't that sound familiar.
In this particular conversation they seemed to establish the boundaries:
- Sam admitted that by giving them the tape Ned made Sam trust him to no end but also consider the most untrustworthy person at the same time, and Sam didn't know what to make of it. Let's just say Bailey is a fan of heartfelt open talks no more than Ned, so either he grew personally, or he's unusually open around Ned as well. Or both. After all, Sam mostly lets himself show any aggression or hostility only to creatures like himself now - maybe because he knows they can handle him even if he snaps, and there won't be any more victims of his power breaking out of control. Maybe it's something else, I don't know. The fact is, he can be sort of hostile towards Ned, their relationship allow it with no hard feelings, and this is pretty liberating. Or I'm just projecting.
He gets the same in return. Ned said they're allies and he'll do his best to be useful and civil until they save Bill and Rob. After that... who knows. I can't transfer the feelings into words well, but this feels cold and distant and the most personal, sincere and close at the same time.
Stop being dumbasses, you both, and shake hands already, we all know you're both gonna miss each other. Let me have this happy ending at least like this.
...wow. The episode was only 27 minutes, actually.

Heathers 2018 thoughts on episode one
The show starts with JD's mom committing suicide and I remember. That she blew herself up in previous versions. But, I guess they had to censor it. So they had her gunshot to the head. I don't really get it myself.
It does take away from JD because I thought his mom blowing herself up was why he wanted to bomb the school.
Veronica realizes she doesn't know who she is. As she sits with the guidance counselor. Falling on platitudes of" I'm a good person."
Veronica trying struggling to know who she is isn't a bad move. It kinda makes sense the girl who joined a clique, doesn't know that kind of thing.
Um, I don't remember Veronica being basic though she was more of a cool rebel wannabe type. I thought that was why she was drawn to JD. Then again Heather C's opinion on Veronica is automadically not valid.
But Veronica feels basic and unimportant " How about this Veronica Sawyer is nothing."
Then in the next scene Betty shows up and it establishes Veronica & Betty are friends who are drifting apart. " You always had to be blue" Betty says with a laugh.
A nod to the movie's color scheme where Veronica is associated visually with blue. The scene ends after Veronica walks away with Betty declareing she always wanted to be blue. This suggests Veronica might be more domineering then she lets on.
Speaking of which, the Heathers are introduced in the next scene. They stroll into the cafateria and the slow mo scene is stirking and estblishes power.
But I got to agree with the internet on the costuming. Why couldn't the department just give every character a full wordrobe with their color? Its especally annoying because they make jokes about the characters color. " You always did think yellow was your color Heather." Then have her wear yellow for more then one scene. And Duke's gay villian wardrobe could still work in all greens. Maybe the make up department could of color coded their eye liner even.
Its also a little jarring once they start speaking. With Macnara being given the shut up Heather line from Chandler. I know on the surface having Duke and Macnara which roles doesn't seem like a big deal. However there was a reason Duke was the buttmonkey of the group in the movie. Duke was almost a nerd, they were bearly a Heather.
Even in this mordern Heathers take nerds are still uncool. So yeah makeing Duke the smart one. They should be at the gay nerd table but have landed a spot at the top of the hiarchy. That however is completely ignored in terms of motivation. Also the fact they have a quote " Gay nerd table" speaks a kind of underlying intolerance.
Furthermore even in 2010 and even today many social justice platforms still aren't big on trans & non binary people. So I still think Duke should of logically been the buttmonkey from the start.
(Also they have Chandler start abuseing them horribly anyway two episodes in even worse then in the movie. So why not just start with that dynamic?")
Also if Heather C builds her platform on social justice shouldn't Macnara still be the one she treats the best? Since it makes her look good to be seen being close with the Black lesbian? Furthermore later in the show Heather is shown being rather affectionate with Lizzy treating her like a kind of prodegee. So it comes off like a weird choice and due to later events plot device.
Anyway moving on so Heather shames Ram for wearing a redskin team T-shirt finding it racially insensative.
I know a lot of people complain about this. but I actually do like the highlighting of how bullies can use social causes as justification to humilate others.
Its not that Heather wants to have a dialog which would be within her rights. But instead she makes him strip, drags him in public and forces him to ask a girl to do a sex act, so he gets slapped. Its bullying disguised as social concern. (Which is something people who care about social justice should call out!)
But I do understand the complaints about how no wearing the collage T-shirt from the collage Ram wants to attend. Is not going to get him banned from said collage. And that really wouldn't care cause its their logo, so its in fact, not life ruining.
So the exacution is kinda crap which ruines the point they were trying to make.
Enter JD in the next scene. I have very mixed feelings about 2018 Heathers JD. Him coming off as so weird kinda doesn't work. Because JD's character kinda hinges on him being charming enough for others to overlook the red flags.
Here, he's just too red flag and utterly annoying in a pertencious way. Also, he doesn't do anything actually dark like fire a gun at some jocks. So I don't see why Veronica is interested in him. All he does is spout shit about how nothing matters.
The next scene involves Heather Duke and Veronica talking and transitions to them with slushies. Heather Duke offers to buy Veronica a slushie before hand. (Honestly I forgot they were friends before rewatching the movie due to the musical).
Where they see Macnara screwing their English teacher and realize she's fakeing being gay and???? Ok, I cann't pretend this plot point isn't stupid, because it is so dumb. Also the non binary person doesn't know bisexuals exist? If they wanted Macnara to piss off Chandler their were half a dozen ways they could do this better.
Also, they made Duke mean for no reason as they take a picture of this and seem gleefully ready as imuniation. Movie/ Musical Duke I could see doing this due to jealousy/ desire to see Macnara taken down a peg since she was a bystander to their abuse. But what is Duke's motivation for this? Their already Chandler's favorite here.
(I have further problems with this which i'll take about in later episodes.)
Next we have Veronica & Chandler at a party. And yeah rewatching this its not great. Veronica is a straight up ass for no reason. I know Chandler is toxic, but she's still trying to make an impression in front of important people. Veronica is openly being unsupportive and then blows off Chandler to have sex with a guy in the car. Wow what a great friend! I know Veronica isn't meant to be a good person but in this scene she's meant to be at the end of her rope with Heather C.
So yeah Chandler being pissed at her comes off as, understandable. Even if her responses are still nasty. Heather blows up at Veronica who accident or not did spill paint on her skirt. And then Veronica just calls her "fattie" which, ok in that instance is just straight up rude.
So they just both come off as straight up assholes. Even though its supposed to be Chandler pushed Veronica too far moment. I don't want to keep nit picking every movie change.
But the forced sexual favors from the movie was a way better move then this. Especially since the show reflects that 2010 Ohio, dismisses sexual assault towards women about as much as the 1980's.
If they didn't want to get into the nitty gritty of that fine, but should of replaced it with Chandler decideing to flat out humilate Veronica.
Here we can see the show starting to get rid of the aspects of Chandler's character that might make her too controversal to modern audiences. Which we'll come back to that later.
So Veronica is freaking out when JD comes into her room with the offer of " Lets snort aderall, make out and get slushies." Which ok terrible line but Veronica is sold somehow.
Also we're introduced to the fact Kurt is gay now which. Also get back to that later.
So JD and Veronica flirt and JD brings Nazi shit that was his dads to Heather Chandlers house. Also poisen pills get mentioned he grabbed by mistake.
They take a pic of her wearing a Nazi hat and wake her up. JD offers to give her the pic if she downs a bag of corn nuts which they laced and you know how this goes. Chandler dies because the prank stuff got swaped with the deadly stuff.
Fake suicide note, now a video yada yada.
And i'll do a part 2 because this was really long.

hi local yandere fan and sister of the original submitter here!! this is a fascinating way to look at it honestly. i still (respectfully) disagree but i wanna talk about it now because you make a lot of good points:
1) "no amount of living someone and of having it be returned will ever be enough to satisfy either party"
this is honestly what fascinated me the most in your commentary, this idea that yandereism is a symptom of a need that is doomed to failure?? that it is a pursuit of a replacement for something (emotional security, confidence, etc.) that can never be met or assured by yandere behavior. i'll say more on this towards the end
2) the idea that yandere behaviors exist solely to cope with extreme paranoia and anxiety (if I'm reading this correctly)
this is really interesting too because i can totally see that. actually makes me think, more than just intense broken love, yanderes could be a good allegory to people learning to love with things like PTSD, BPD, etc. like i think you absolutely nailed some of the emotional/psychological vibes underlying common yandere themes that I relate to.
and that's WHY i disagree, because essentially the vibe i'm getting is that if you are mentally ill (ESPECIALLY with personality disorders) and love someone, it is doomed to be dysfunctional and hurt everyone. this is exactly WHY i love the yandere trope so much. because to me, if both parties are willing to listen and heal, you can have a relationship that retains most of the "icky yandere" features that weird people out— the possessiveness, the intensity, the violence, in certain instances even a lack of morality or sociopathy— but that IS genuinely well adjusted to the boundaries and needs of both parties WITHIN the relationship. the appeal of the yandere trope to me is this idea that "healthy relationship" doesn't HAVE to meet standard conventional romantic expectations.
the appeal of yanderes isn't actually that they stay dysfunctional forever. it's that, some things make people Weird about stuff forever, and even when they learn to cope well and respect people's boundaries and function, the way they behave and love and think and feel still carries remnants of their past that is conventionally disturbing.
as for romantic codependency, i would argue that codependency is inherently dysfunctional but definition, but what is romantic is INTENSE dependency. actually, I'm not sure i would even call it dependency, but rather, investment. intense investment and connection. there are nuances to these things that are hard to herd into words, but functionally, the thing is, people who aren't living with these kind of things often look at this broad range of things and lump them all together.
to a "regular person", someone who is healing from really complex traumas, trying to love other people while coping with c-ptsd or bpd or did or anything else.... is indistinguishable from a "yandere", or from the general vibe of "creepy, codependent, annoying, unwanted, intense, predator, stalker" that is painted upon the trope. in this way, it's kind of like finding representation in a slur or a stereotype — the traditional yandere is very different from a "broken lover" so to speak, but nonetheless, the way they are often looked at and treated with distaste feels familiar, and we come to identify with it.
3) "there's too many anime girls wielding knives acting like murder hobos over dudes they don't even like"
hard disagree, I'm sorry on this one I don't have anything interesting to say besides just that i think more girls should be over the top crazy. actually i think there should be more insensitive tactless caricatures of ""insanity"" as long as they don't claim to be any particular illness (it's one thing to show a bpd-coded knife wielding maniac, it's another to actually say "this is bpd rep this is what bpd looks like it's scary and evil btw") because they're very accessible for people who ARE mentally ill to see themselves in media. and also i like it :]
also for 4) i personally think that the natural evolution of the yandere is what the kids nowadays are calling ""yuri"" . because the word yuri has kind of evolved in the internet fandom colloquial to no longer be restricted to wlw anime media but rather describe instead an intensely homoerotic and tormented, devoted relationship. it's weird but yeah that's a thing i think.
to loop back around to 1) with a tldr:
i don't think the yandere trope inherently romanticizes mental illnesses and dysfunctional toxic relationships, i think it provides representation for people with mental illnesses and disorders in general. and naturally a lot of those ARE dysfunctional, but it's not inherent to the yandere genre, because no matter how much you actually heal and cope well, you will be conflated with the yandere crowd, because the general population can't tell the difference. so, yanderes are good, dysfunctional relationships and codependency is not. not morally wrong either, just kind of tragic.
also sorry vell for derailing your take with my psycho bullshit lmao
Yanderes aren't for everyone, so I've included a content warning.
HOT TAKE TOURNAMENT!
PRELIMINARY #223
Tumblr media
Submission 720
yanderes are good, actually
i know for a fact this is hot because the inverse take was validated earlier. but i'm also gonna justify it just because.
the yandere trope is good and cool. people bash it for being a glorification of abuse or "toxic" or basically... bizarre and disturbing. but have you ever stopped to consider consensual yandere tropes? because the problem isn't ACTUALLY the "yandere" behavior, it's that in "classical" yandere media, it's portrayed as unwanted or frightening to the recipient. the problem is that it's portrayed as unconsenting. but that isn't a problem that's UNIQUE to the yandere genre.
whereas, if you were to consider a consensual yandere relationship...
what if the recipient WANTED someone to be a little obsessive, controlling, devoted to them? what if, in all their devotion, the yandere LISTENED to feedback and catered to their partner's wants and needs? what if "yandere" is simply a trope designed for the weird, the broken, the overinvested, the traumatized? what if to be loved possessively is not a sign of abuse, but a metric of security? what if a yandere is simply a person who is too broken to be well adjusted to the conventional levels at which society expects them to love? what if that love is so WARPED by their lived experience that it appears bizarre and shocking and frightening to the public, but warm and intense and unrelenting, unyielding and securely present, to its recipient? what if, such a person could exist, that would only feel at ease with such a devoted and intense form of love? what then? what if being a yandere were about jealousy and selfishness and possessiveness and control, but moreover, about devotion and care and dedication and conviction to never leave, to care deeply and passionately even when it doesn't seem acceptable, to love in a way that feels safe and ensured.
the yandere trope represents intense and broken lovers and i unironically love it. i WILL die on this hill.
Can I... tell you a secret? It's kind of embarassing, so... keep it between us, okay? I said this poll was for everyone, but really, it was only for you... so I hope you liked it!
Maybe this is a little too forward, but I'd love it if you posted propaganda! B-but you don't have to, if you don't want to! Just being seen by you, being able to be near you... that would be enough... for now, that's enough...
And it's okay for you to reblog our favourite polls for exposure... it feels weird sharing our special things, having everyone see my love for you... but it makes me happy! I want them to know - to know that you're mine... But if you don't reblog them, that makes me happy too! It's like I get to keep you all to myself...

I'm not trying to start shit but if telling people why rehoming is bad isn't the way to help empty animal shelters, then what is?
This is a good question! I'll preface by saying that my shelter experience is entirely in Canada, with dogs in Yellowknife, NT and cats in Sudbury, ON. I cannot speak for other areas, and obviously can't talk for the shelter system in the USA.
I'll also say that I'm not against kindly educating people against rehoming, but this needs to be done long before someone makes a decision to rehome a pet (and probably before they even get a pet). If someone is at the point of rehoming a pet, this isn't the time for telling them why they're wrong.
In an ideal world, there would be accurate, unbiased resources for pet owners to help inform themselves before they get pets. And yeah, those do exist currently! And that's awesome! But how many articles stating (falsely) that "pitbulls were the original nanny dogs and can be unconditionally trusted with children" do I have to wade through before I find one that says "pitbulls tend to develop dog aggression when they hit maturity and must be managed to avoid any fallout"? How many pamphlets do I have to read stating (falsely) that bettas can be kept in a small unheated vase before I find one that recommends a heated 5gal minimum? And how do you know what's true and what's false, if you aren't already in the animal world?
Shelters that put cutesy pet descriptions that sugarcoat an animal's issues aren't helping either! There were posts about this previously, so I won't go into it, but a lot of people don't know that "hihi I don't like to share my person" can be code for "I will bite you in the face if you try to sit next to me on the couch". And that doesn't help anybody!
I think we're headed in the right direction by having more foster-heavy shelters, so animals don't have to deteriorate in a shelter environment (stressful)! But our shelter up in Yellowknife a) didn't have enough volunteers to help keep animals in their homes, b) didn't have enough volunteers to help keep their shelter animals enriched and exercised, and c) didn't have any training sessions for new volunteers for 16 months, so had no way to recruit more volunteers. And this is likely a problem in a lot of places - people want to help, but shelters don't have the resources to train people.
I do think a lot of shelters have unreasonable adoption requirements, although this isn't a problem I've had to deal with because neither of the shelters I volunteered for were particularly gatekeep-y, so I'll skip this one. But yeah, shelters that have unreasonable requirements (always someone home, no other pets, 6ft privacy fence, no kids, etc etc etc) aren't helping their situation.
It would also be amazing if there were more accessible financial resources for pet owners who fall on a hard times, so people don't have to choose between starving or giving up their pets.
Finally, and this is an unpopular opinion, I think no-kill shelters shouldn't be a thing anymore. Keeping unadoptable or difficult animals for the length of their lives is much more cruel than giving them a really good day and euthanizing them. Animals don't understand that "there might be a home coming" - they just know that they're in a stressful situation and can't relax, for days or months or years. Even the healthy, stable animals deteriorate in stressful environments. Keep homeless animals for a reasonable amount of time, give them a good day, and let them go peacefully.
Humans project so many of their feelings onto animals and by seeing past those, I think we could improve the shelter system to better help homeless animals and the people that care for them.

working on a fic/au where gotham is alive and barbara is a literal oracle of gotham (it does currently mostly focus on jas*n but i'm trying to dive into babs to write some more about her!) it's a bit eldrich horror cyberpunk? some fics/aus have gotham as this familial being and she kinda is in this au but is still very set on bargins and deals or because she personally finds it funny, not out of much loving care
one thing i was thinking about playing with is babs & control, as the oracle she has moments she's out of control (the City mainly speaks in dial-up noises so she has to translate/weird binary-coded dreams where the eidetic memory comes in handy) and/or babs and spyware ("ceaseless watcher turn your gaze upon this wreched thing" but make it slightly more cyberpunk--)?
also in this au there's a few forces at work: the caves, the city, & the asylum, not quite in direct conflict but def with different vibes and different types of areas they control. the city is, of course, gotham city proper and all the wires and neon buzzing and electricity-- tho it doesn't quite understand computers yet, which is where babs might hopefully come in? i'm kinda at "throw things at the wall and see what sticks" point but i wanted to ask if any of this babble sparked any ideas in you? i hear there's a brainiac arc that i should read. i already read (and loved) both secret files with "you served her better in this form" & oracle: year one! <3
hey thanks for reading and thanks even more for replying! <3
Your idea sounds interesting but heads up I'm not sure if it's super my genre, so I'm not sure how much help I'll be.
With Babs if you want to get her good, I highly recommend she has instances where we can see her in control, or grappling for control/not wanting to be out of control. Like she should be able to do stuff, not just passively receive information from some omniscient source (IDK if that's already in the plan, I don't know how real oracle tropes go).
But like. she's going to want to be in control, that's a very big thing for her, and if you want to do her well you don't want her to be like... punished narratively for it? Like let her succeed, and often times yes, it is at the cost of her mental health, but that's what she does.
and like. make sure she has her own goals that aren't about the city, she does thinks she thinks are sensible not just b/c the city says.
for braniac it was decent, definitely showed babs getting sucked in with some difficult to comprehend force but still working against it (and trying to use it for her ends when she could). It starts 69-73, then 83, 84, 85

In The Case Of Shipping. Queer Ships and Straight Ships
A topic I will never shut up about. Before I start I will admit, I am on the queer side of fandom a lot more often than I am on the straight side and I will be speaking from that perspective. If you have another perspective to share with me, please do so respectfully.
Shipping will always be something that gray to me. I like shipping culture and enjoy certain communities around certain ships, but people getting way too defensive about it will always be something to drags me emotionally. It makes me sad especially when it's people who are like me. Fellow queer shippers trying to explain why certain things between two characters can be seen as queer coding and then being called delusional by people who are either willfully ignorant or simply don't understand the point of queer coding. That's not to say queer shippers are without fault, however. We do have a really terrible tendency of calling people who don't like our ship homophobic and ignoring characters from other media that ARE actually written to be queer, in favor of continuing to argue that there are next to no queer characters in the content they like. While they are scarce they are not non-existent. Not to mention, a decent amount of character portrayals do tend to be very extremely sexual and can be found in places that they do not belong.
That being said straight shippers aren't without their faults either. For starters, I don't really see this being brought up, but they also like to portray characters in very sexual ways as well. Particularly, male characters, with a popular means of sexualization being centered around predatorial behavior towards one of the female characters, or being a C H A D. Again, I personally don't have a particular issue with this, but just like queer sexual content, it does not belong where anyone can see it. Straight shippers also have a bad habit of calling queer shippers p*dos and perverts, even for the most inoffensive gay fan content imaginable.
With so much tension heating up between two groups, any interaction can come off as an attack even if that wasn't the intention. We queer shippers tend to get sensitive when someone has the opinion that our ship isn't real. Now sometimes we are justified in getting annoyed with these people as some of them will go out of their way to find joke posts and innocent fan art of a same-sex ship and pull that line, even though that wasn't really the point of the original post. However, even in people's own spaces when they aren't going out of their way to attack us, we still get offended. What gives? So let's take a tweet that's similar to what I'm describing:
Tumblr media
(obviously, this is a fake image, I'm just using it to get my point across)
Now on its own, there's nothing wrong with this tweet. In general, there's nothing with this tweet. It's just showing frustration with people making every relationship a romance even if two characters only interacted for a few minutes. That's true. Shippers do enjoy pairing two people together, particularly men, who don't really interact with each other. Here's the thing though. This is an argument that's very popular and one that's been used by some not-so-well-meaning people.
Alright, it's sad people hours now, sorry sis. So for a good amount of queer people who are online or are big fans of fiction, fandom has been a big part of their lives. Shipping, in particular, holds a special place in many queer fans' hearts as, even though it's pathetic, ships were a lot of people's first exposure to genuinely queer content focused around queer characters. It would be through this shipping that a lot of people would find friends who were into the same media and fan content. Some of these people would grow up together and eventually find out that the other was queer. Some of these people would go on to have romantic relationships with each other, and because they meant because of a ship, would go on to continuously celebrate it as if it were real because part of the reason their romance is real is because of that ship. Sometimes people will hold certain ships dear to their heart because they were able to use them to not only find other people like them but explore their own sexual and romantic orientation via fan fiction and fan art.
The attachment to fictional, non-canon relationships would be met with consequences, however. A lot of people would become TOO immersed in their ship and would start to get into debates with straight shippers. Many of which were, unfortunately, homophobic or queerphobic in some way. A lot of the arguments these people would use were a lot of the arguments used today. "Said ship isn't real, you're delusional", "That wasn't the writer's intention", "Stop forcing your ship onto other people", "Two people can't be friends anymore".
It's when you look at it through this lens:
Tumblr media
That the fake tweet above starts to look like it was trying to say something a bit different:
Tumblr media
Now is this what the tweet is actually saying? Probably not. TityMaster69 might be someone who has faced harrasment from shippers innocently trying to vent out their feelings, but because many people with malicous intentions have said the exact same things and used it as an excuse to speak ill of queer people in fandom, it FEELS a lot more mean-spirited than it might actually be. To add to that, many malicious people have used the reactions of queer shippers as a means of giving a pass to genuine queerphobia inside fandom outside of shipping:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The screenshot ARE real this time and in are relation to this btw:
https://twitter.com/samelCamelCase/status/1382846776806412290
Now to be fair StarVolt358 did apologize to the person who retweeted the post, but the fact that they even brought it up at such an inappropriate time does still prove my point because, in a way, they did bring it up to draw less attention to the queerphobia in the KH fandom.
Stuff like this has led to queer shippers being berated and attacked by straight shippers in the community, even though in some cases they can do more damage than the people they're calling out. Let's not forget when Reylo fans doxxed and harrassed the actors because they didn't like whatever happened in the Rise of Skywalker, or when Sokai fans harrassed the voice actor SpuukyLIVE on Twitter for joking that the scene in kh2 when Sora sees Riku again was gay.
As I do not have a lot of energy, there are a lot of nuances I've missed, like many people who like queer m/m ships being straight teen girls and not actual queer people or queer people who like straight ships. This was, however, just a post to get my full thots out there. I'll shut up now.

@rejectshumanity said: ♡ ♢ ☼ for the munday meme!
(what is this? an interrogation? come back with a warrant - open)
//hehe thank you <3 i'll put these under the cut b/c i never fucking shut up lmao
♡ What are your top five favorite things about yourself?
//how daaaare you make me be nice to myselffffff
no jokes aside <3 anyway.
i like that i'm generally a nice person! i think that it's important to be kind when you can, because there's enough darkness in the world. why not be kind when you have the chance?
... on another note, though, i'm really happy that i'm getting better at standing up for myself and handling conflict. because being kind is important, but sometimes you gotta be a bitch and that's life! i was rereading something i sent a friend years ago regarding a conflict i was having at the time, and i was astounded by it lmao like... oh my god. my dude. you have very good reasons to be upset and it's okay to say "i'm mad at this person" without adding a million disclaimers that it's probably not their fault!!
i genuinely think i'm *so* fucking funny, and for better or worse, you will certainly hear my jokes.
i'm a good listener. when people are having a hard time and need someone to talk to, i'm good at like... just offering a listening ear. i may not always have advice but i can generally listen and chat and help someone talk through it if that's what they need.
i don't like to judge people unless they give me very, very good reason to, especially if i don't know them. i try to assume ignorance more than i'll assume malice, though i'm also trying to get better at recognizing when the line between those can get a bit blurred haha.
♢ What’s your favorite flavor of ice cream?
//gimme that salted caramel <333 though honestly a long-time favorite is like. anything with cherries. that's the good shit.
☼ Who are your top five favorite fictional characters?
//CRACKS KNUCKLES.
okay for the sake of not going on forever, i'll just list five characters that aren't muses of mine (at least not on this blog). because we all know mr jack townsend is number one but like. others deserve a shot. for fun, i'll also explain myself a bit :3c
dr. robert langdon - the da vinci code (and other dan brown books)
i was obsessed with these books a completely normal amount as a middle schooler (lying). something about this like... charming middle-aged professor who keeps finding himself in the middle of massive conspiracies usually related in some way to religion and frequently having his life put in danger? and saves the day by being a fucking nerd? what a dude!
arthur morgan - red dead redemption 2
if you were there for my rdr2 fixation (which most of you definitely weren't lmao) then uhhh yeah <3 genuinely i had a huge crush on this character and was so obsessed with him for so long. the yearning was out of control, folks. i do still have a lot of fondness for him, but tbh some not-so-fun interactions in the fandom really put me off of the whole series for a while. he still means a lot to me though!
rhys - tales from the borderlands
would it be exaggerating to say that rhys tftbl is the reason i'm trans? probably. but y'know something about him really resonated with me at a time when i was really going through some gender fuckery and trying to figure myself out. idk what it says about me that that shitty little twink helped me figure myself out a bit, but anyway.
evelyn mckinnon - accounts from a lonely broadcast station
had to list at least one woman lmao- but yeah i really love evelyn. she's such an incredibly written character and every time i reread (or. rather. re-listen to) the series i actually get a little choked up because her narrative is so *fascinating* and well-done to me. like wow we love a tragic cringefail woman who has to face her own mistakes and become better, not just for her own sake but for others'!!! and face the fact that her fuck-ups hurt more than just herself!!!
evelyn is one of the many characters i'm considering for the horror multimuse i talk about sometimes. and maybe i'll even let her stay a cis woman- i'm kidding ASDFJKL; but like. fr. we'll see.
charlie kelly - it's always sunny in philadelphia
honorable mention for the trashiest man i'm currently thinking about lmao- so i started watching iasip because i wanted to see the insanity for myself and. wow all of these characters are terrible. but god it's so fun to see them in action. and charlie is by far my favorite. he's illiterate. he drinks paint. he eats cat food for fun. he's an artist. he makes a living beating rats to death with a stick. he's a wet paper bag of a man. he's very deeply traumatized and doesn't realize it.
he's the perfect man.

I'm in your home hahahahah
(Y/N)= your name, (Y/P/ns)= your pets names, (Y/F/M/L/N) = your first, middle, last name, (Y/H/C) = your hair colour, (Y/E/C)= your eye colour, (Y/F/N)= your first name, (Y/L/N)= your last name
I was sitting in my room, in the dark watching Jacksepticeye's video Watson Scotts test part 1 it just recently came out yesterday, man this stuff is giving me the creeps I swear I keep hearing noises...but then again maybe its just my cat and pet dog..ya ya that's it its just (y/p/ns) that's all...ok ok calm down (Y/N) it really is nothing.. I left one headphone out just to make sure I wasn't hearing anything.. Somethings not right *crash* ok somethings really not right that sounded like a vase and something glass wise just broke...I slowly walked over to my bedroom door..why did my room have to be right next to the kitchen...but the noise sounded like it came from the living room..I slowly walked into the dark room.
"Mum? Dad? Was that you? I thought you guys were gone for the night hello? Anybody?" I asked and slowly felt around for the light switch...ah I found you little bugger. I flipped on the light switch and was just about to scream when I felt a hand go over my mouth...
"Ah I wouldn't do that if i were you (Y/N) see we can't have your neighbors hearing your screams now can we....oh wait they can't help you any way I killed them thirty minutes ago before I killed your parents hahaha!!" I heard a voice glitch out laughing... I looked at the living room one more time to see my parents horrified looks as they were killed...how they died? Was by this psychopath holding me slit their throats no wonder I didn't hear the screams...
"P..please don't hurt me! I will do anything please!" I begged crying as I felt a cold blade rest up against my neck..
"Oh no no...you see I'm not going to kill you...well not yet anyways you're my new victim. You see I'm going to take you home...and have some fun...if you escape my maze...you have to then escape the forest... You see but the forest has other monsters like me hiding in there...demons, cannibals you name it...its probably in there and you will die..so I wish you the best of luck but first rest for the games begin tomorrow" the unknown voice whispered to me before I watched a cloud of black smoke start to blur out my vision. And the last thing I saw was a man with dark green hair and a red line across his neck before I saw the world go black...
~next morning~
Oh, my head hurts...what happened? This isn't my room? What happened last night? T..that was real...no no no no this can't be happening you have to be kidding me...oh my god my parents are really dead then...no...no I felt tears start to run down my face as I began to cry...I looked over to see a tv and quickly turned it on..maybe it was just a bad dream and I fell asleep in my parent's room ya ya that's it.. I turned the tv on to the news and saw a dark-haired reporter talking into a microphone
"This is the fifth kidnapping in five days...all of the people reported missing happen to be around the ages of sixteen to twenty-five... The fifth victim today is none other than (Y/F/M/L/N). A-Student at Longmire Highschool, they were known and loved by many... Who could do such a thing? They have (Y/H/C), and (Y/E/C) last seen in their home last night if you have seen them or anything suspicious please call your local police department...they are on the list with the four other victims... Private McLain Dark brown hair, blue eyes and is Six-five and is a corporal in the military on leave with his fellow mates McCloud and Kane they were last seen leaving a pup at around two in the morning this recent Friday, Amelia Livermore blond hair and green eye and is five-four student at Barnsley was last seen jogging earlier Saturday morning, Finnegan McCloud lieutenant in the military red hair, brown eyes and is six- one, Sargent Killian Kane black hair, blue eyes and is Six feet if you..seen any of these people let the local police department know..that's all for London news stay tuned for more information regarding these five recent kidnappings." the news reported finished talking and the news went back to the studio and started talking about the weather I shook my head and quickly ran out of the room..you have to be kidding me this isn't happening this cannot be happening I have to get out of here.. And find help. I started to run down the hallway and make random turns. My god does this ever end I swear it's like a never-ending loop what's going on. After about three hours of running I stopped in the same bloody hall I passed about what six? No seven times I'm tired of seeing that same damn painting when will it end! Ahhhh I placed my hands on the top of my head shaking it.
"Ok ok think...it's like the never-ending hallway in P.T or those really badly done remakes I see everywhere..if that's the case there must be a way to stop it"I answered and begin to look around the room thinking to myself ok ok if I was hiding something where would I put it? I opened up the drawers on the end table in the hallway nothing...maybe..hmm, I was just about to grab the picture when I started to hear moaning. I looked to my left and saw something black and oozing with slime start to climb out of the hallway...oh god it's like a more disturbing version of bendy from bendy and the ink machine mixed with the girl from the ring shit...I quickly threw the painting to the ground as the creature was getting up onto its feet. A code panel nooo I suck at these...um um look around there has to be clues somewhere..wait the tv..there was something that kept flashing under the news lady in the tv..what was it um...nine, three... I pressed the two buttons then five and two right when I pressed the last button I heard a click and looked to the opposite end of the hallway. Seeing a door slowly open, I quickly looked to my left and screamed seeing the creature was about two feet from me making horrible noises. It sounds like someone was choking on their own blood, I threw several books at it before sprinting down the hall and into the room slamming the door shut, I looked around the room and saw a fireplace, bookshelf and a table. this looks like a meeting room of some kind... I squeaked when I saw a door open to a red-haired man running in and slamming it shut behind him, he quickly pushed an end table in front of the door. He looks like one of the guys that were said to be missing..
"God that was close...wait you aren't Sargent Kane, corporal McLain... Or Major Fuchs.. You didn't happen to see them did you??!?!" he asked and I shook my head no.
"No, I haven't. I just got here last night.. I was kidnapped just like the rest of the missing people..." I answered shaking my head.
"So was i..with the people I mentioned..but I haven't seen any of them.." he answered and i shrugged
"Wait the news did say anything about a Fuchs going missing?" i asked
"More then likely you wouldn't no one really likes Major Fuchs..I'm Finnegan McCloud" he said
"(Y/F/N) (Y/L/N)" i answered and he nodded.
"Well (Y/L/N) might as well help one another find a way out of here and find the others to" right as he said that I watched A Dark brown haired man and a blonde green eyed girl run into the room and slam the door shut.
"What the Fuck is going on!!! First, I was just out drinking and the next minute I'm in a room with an unknown girl being chased by a black slimy monster!!" I heard the man Yell before turning to us and immediately hugging Finnegan
"Oh thank god you are alive! I thought I never see you again mate!" the dark haired man said.
"Same to you two Private you didn't see Major or Sargent did you?" he asked and Private shook his head no.
"No just this civilian that's all... I hope they are okay? And not trying to rip one another throats out?" he said and We heard another door open and Black haired man walking annoyed as a Bright nearly white blond haired woman walked in yelling at him.
" none of this wouldn't have had happened if you listened to me and didn't go out drinking like an idiot!! Maybe you would have fought of the kidnappers better Kane!" the woman yelled while Finnegan and Private looked to one another.
" well good to see you to Major Fuchs but yelling won't solve anything?" Private tried to say but the Sargent and major just ignored him and continued to yell... The girl that walked in with Private was hiding in a corner and covering her ears..maybe because of all the yelling...
"Enough! Stop fighting! We need to work together if we want to live!!!!" I yelled causing the two to stop fighting, right when they stopped fighting a tv came out of the ceiling to show a green haired man sitting in a chair next to a dark haired person I know who those people are.. It's Markiplier and Jacksepticeye evil version Anti and Dark...no..

[Insinuation 2.7]
(Sorry about posting these out of chronological order; I didn't have a Tumblr blog yet when I first posted this one. Also, consider my liveblogs of 1.1 -> 2.6 lost to the ether.) [Insinuation 2.7] Brian and Alec were good looking guys, in very different ways. Lisa was, on the sliding scale between plain and pretty, more pretty than not. So Taylor admits to checking all of them out and also to finding them all attractive. Undersider harem when? Bug Please don't stick please don't stick I still want her name to be something cool like Myriad, but there's bound to be something of a joke to it. Lisa, though, put one of her arms around my shoulders and gave me a one-armed squeeze of a hug. She was a little older than I was, so she was just tall enough to be at the perfect height to do it. What caught me off guard was how nice the gesture felt. Taylor is attracted to girls theory: Confirmed?????? Actually, I get the impression that Lisa is supposed to be this but it's not quite coming across right and makes it seem like she has a thing for Taylor. We passed a twenty-something artist and his girlfriend, sitting on the sidewalk with paintings propped up around them. The girl waved at Lisa as we walked by, and Lisa waved back. Guessing she's an important character, a cape probably, but not one of the Undersiders. Circus? Spitfire? IDK I know too few names at this point. Alternatively, that was Uber and Leet. If that's the case, Leet was probably the girl and Uber the artist. If Tattletale's really a hacker, it'd make sense for her to be friends with someone named Leet. I supposed they might have a TiVo, though I’d never seen one. TiVo?????? Seriously, though, the Undersiders have a pretty fucking sweet loft. Also, Alec's an artist apparently. Knowing young fiction, this will either be the only thing he talks about ever or he'll never mention it again. ```“I’m jealous,” I admitted, meaning it.
“Dork,” Alec said, “What are you jealous for?”
“I meant it’s cool,” I protested, a touch defensively.
Lisa spoke before Alec could reply, “I think what Alec means is that this is your place now too. This is the team’s space, and you’re a member of the team, now.”How all great friendships start.“Last time he went up against Shadow Stalker, he came back here and bled all over a white couch,” Lisa groused, “nine hundred dollar couch and we had to replace it.”
“Fucking Shadow Stalker,” Alec commiserated.OOOH! Shadow Stalker sounds like they might be a rival villain. (Part of Faultline's group, maybe? Or perhaps the Empire, though the Undersiders don't seem to have major issues with them yet.) Can't wait to see them.Brian came back from the other end of the loft, raising his voice to be heard as he approached, “Rache’s not here, and neither are her dogs. She must be walking them or working. Dammit. I get stressed when she’s out.” He approached the couches and saw Alec sprawled on the one.OK now I'm 99% percent sure Brian and this Rachel girl are a couple, or he wants them to be. Or alternatively, she really is a mass-murderer with a dog fetish and that's why he's worried. Either way, isn't her identity public? If so, _why_ does she walk her own dogs, instead of having the other Undersiders do it for her? Indication of obsession? Possessiveness? Or maybe they have someone who can disguise people; Regent, maybe? Not sure if it would fit with his name, though. Regent, to me, suggests he might be part of some sort of Parahuman lineage (not sure how far back it could possibly go, since didn't Scion only appear in the 80s?) and that his power is _really fucking good_. He's their heavy hitter, the one who packs the most punches. Maybe he's a mini-Superman, complete with the "powers as the plot demands".“We’ll get you one,” he said, like it wasn’t even a concern. It probably wasn’t. “We generally haul in anywhere from ten grand to thirty-five grand for a job. That gets divided four ways… five ways now that you’re on the team.”Sounds like Taylor will be rich very quickly; she'll probably be against spending the money at first but give in after a little. She is the Queen Of Slippery Slopes, after all. In fact, I suspect the Undersiders are aware of that, b/c of Tattletale and are actively baiting her into falling all the way down and becoming a villain. However, they probably won't like the new, unrestricted Taylor Hebert.“I do know everything,” Lisa said, “It’s my power.”Still thinking superpowered hacker, possibly with some sort of tinkery flavor to it, with a probable focus on spying on and tracking people.“What?” I said, interrupting Brian. My heartbeat quickened, though I hadn’t exactly been relaxed to begin with, “You’re omniscient?”
Lisa laughed, “No, no. I do know things though. My power tells me stuff.”
Swallowing hard, hoping I wasn’t drawing attention by doing so, I asked, “Like?” Like why I was joining their team?
Lisa sat forward and put her elbows on her knees, “Like how I knew you were at the library when I sent me the messages. If I felt like it, and if I had the know how, I’m sure I could have figured it out by breaking into the website database and digging through the logs to find the address you connected from, but my power just let me skip that step like that.” She snapped her fingers.Damn it. I was wrong, wasn't I? But honestly that's a _horrifying_ power; she just _knows_ things she shouldn't. Like "everything about everyone ever", apparently. Perhaps it's some sort of weird form of clairvoyance; her power sees everything going on at once, but she can focus it on a specific person/area and it'll relay whatever it finds to her for her to make sense of with her deductive skills. Like having an omnipresent, invisible and intangible drone. Heck, maybe she's lying and she's just a Tinker with a specialty in surveillance and cloaking; would certainly explain how Rachel's able to regularly go outside, seemingly. Not giving him a chance to reply, she turned to me and explained, “My power fills in the gaps in my knowledge. I generally need some info to start from, but I can use details my power feeds me to figure out more stuff, and it all sort of compounds itself, giving me a steady flow of info.”Honestly I'm not entirely sure what she means by this, but it definitely seems like _every single one_ of my guesses as to her power was wrong.Lisa’s smile widened, “I’ll admit I cheated there. Figuring out passwords is pretty easy with my power. I dig through the PHQ’s digital paperwork and enjoy a little reality TV by way of their surveillance cameras when I’m bored. It’s useful because I’m not only getting the dirt from what I see, hear and read, but my power fills in the details on stuff like changes in their routine and the team politics.”At least I was right about her tendency to spy on people. And the PHQ's the _Protectorate_ ENE HQ, right? So essentially where the heroes work, and possibly live. Makes sense that Taylor wouldn't want to join the Wards if it's actually like that; she rather seems to enjoy having _something_ of a normal life and the ability to just go home and get away from this, to just be her father's daughter for a while. (Angsty plot twist: He's actually her stepdad, in addition to being a cape (maybe Armsmaster if he isn't a villain; tinkers seem sufficiently bullshit for that to work, and he was relatively nice to Taylor, if a bit businesslike-- _just like her father_.) and she learns both of these secrets at an inopportune time (perhaps after her first mission with the Undersiders?) and ends up leaving him and her civilian ID behind and moving in with the Undersiders full-time.)she grinned her vulpine smileNo way this isn't a fandom meme. Honestly, this just feels like such a memetic phrase and Wildbow _just keeps using it_. There are other ways to call someone sly and mischevious that don't involve how foxlike their smile is. Still thinking she's going to end up with Taylor, eventually and probably only temporarily. Unless she's also a double-agent. Would explain why she hasn't been the nicest to Taylor (she went out of her way to mess with her...), despite seemingly wanting her to join the team and seemingly caring about her. Grue, Alec and Rachel probably aren't going to double-cross the team, however. They seem like they're actually villains, albeit probably sympathetic ones. I can't wait to hear how despite seeming to only be in it for the money, they all have tragic backstories. Actually, perhaps having a tragic backstory is part of gaining powers; Taylor's got a lot of trauma and the Danny interlude did suggest that things turned from idyllic to tragic rather fast. And logically speaking, it makes sense that the villains would all have a lot of mental trauma; they're the people who society has chewed up and spat right out. Calling it right now that every Undersider is some kind of minority or other oppressed group: Brian: Black, possibly not straight. Possibly a single (adoptive?) parent? He seems close to the other Undersiders, so it doesn't seem like he'd live away from them by choice. If he's got a kid who he's desperately trying to keep away from this, things suddenly make sense. Or maybe a little sister/brother (I'm leaning towards sister), if he's too young to even be adopting children? Either way, he's definitely doing this for someone else's sake. If said person is old enough (i.e. 13+; I don't think the Undersiders would employ such a small child), they'll probably join the Undersiders after a few arcs of melodrama. Or if they're not, they'll do it (complete with the melodrama) after they grow up. Which Wildbow may only do so they can be paired with whichever Undersider doesn't get paired up, since I'm 100% sure they're going to end up a set of three couples, instead of a proper team of five. Bonus points if this hypothetical sister thinks Brian's a hero before learning the considerably more unsavory truth. Alec: He's definitely either gay or bi. There is no way that boy is straight. Also, he's got a French name, which is a pretty good sign he's going to be a Flamboyant Gay, especially if he picked it for himself. Lisa: A woman, also gay (probably). Possibly asexual, maybe? (She's definitely not aromantic, though; there needs to be at least something to use for shipping bait and "will-they-or-won't-they" tension, as Worm is basically YA.) Rachel: Maybe she's transgender? I'm guessing here. Didn't Taylor describe her as unladylike in appearance or something like that? Also possibly a butch lesbian* / gender non-conforming in some other way. *If she's a lesbian, Tattletale isn't one. It's a rule of how these things work. Though in that case, Tattletale wouldn't be a proper token character and would instead exist as a plot device / excuse for exposition and probably only exists to avert the Smurfette principle. They didn’t get a chance to tell me. I heard barking from downstairs. A matter of heartbeats later I was standing, three paces from the couch. Three snarling dogs had me backed against the wall, drool flying from their mouths as their teeth gnashed and snapped for my hands and face.``` Rachel can't control her dogs = confirmed? Or maybe she's a bit more unhinged than I was thinking, or both? I'm currently thinking that she's actually the sweetest and most innocent of the Undersiders, appearances be damned (it also makes her alias of "Bitch" rather ironic), but I could be extremely wrong. Since she works with dogs, she also probably has some skill as a vet, and probably acts as the Undersiders' medic as well.
I'm also starting to think that the Undersiders are using their actual names, and that they really do trust Taylor. Unless they're all lying about their names to each other as well as to Taylor, though they seem too much like fire-forged friends for that.

The Akatsuki members as high-school students
Has this been done before? Probably! Do I care? No, because these are my terrible headcanons and nobody can take them from me.
A/N: This has been in my drafts for a long time, probably since early February. I’ve been lacking motivation to do anything at all for months and lo and behold, I find this basically finished piece bar one character. I really, really want to start writing again but I’m struggling to think of ideas, so if you have any requests for future headcanons/one shots/etc feel free to slide me a message or something :)
Tumblr media
He's definitely the generic super intelligent kid who gets straight A's in pretty much every subject. All of his notes are really well organised, he keeps bullet journals and everything is colour coded - mans notes are literal art. His handwriting is definitely beautiful, we're talking professional calligrapher here.
All of his equipment is immaculate, he cries if one of his books gets a crease or something on it somehow. If you accidentally nudge him or ruin his notes he will silently hold a grudge against you forever - he probably won't act on his grudge though, he just wants to blend in and he dislikes conflict in general.
Despite being fully aware of his intelligence he hardly ever speaks up in classes. He only really speaks when spoken to and so is renown as the token quiet kid. I also envision him as being super pretentious, although he doesn't show it he definitely thinks he's better than everyone else.
His favourite subject would be English because he enjoys analysing anything and everything. If you're friends with him he will make comments on how random pieces of media etc. are a representation of -insert important world issue or theory.- He'd also like art despite it being the only subject he's not very good at. All his art is abstract, he will draw a pink square and claim it represents a patriarchal society.
Doesn't have many friends because he isn't very talkative, spends most of his time at school alone doing schoolwork. Sees school purely as an educational setting and so doesn't see the point in making an attempt to be social.
Tumblr media
All of his school equipment looks like it's been mauled by 300 dogs because its all second/third/fourth+ hand. Man would never pay full price for a textbook. He definitely steals all the faculty equipment too. You could fill an entire room with the amount of stationary this man has but he will NEVER lend it to anyone else. If he does lend you something it's because its either A) broken B) barely functional (so like pens which can write 2 letters before running out) or C) you're giving him something better in return/paying for it (even then he'll probably take whatever he lent you back without you realising)
He also definitely runs mini-shops in school where he'll sell stolen equipment and things like sweets/chewing gum/trendy items (he made bank when fidget spinners were a thing) for like triple what they're actually worth.
His favourite subject is definitely history (He's a crusty dusty old man so of course) but he will never admit this. He takes business and economics but hates them, he's already done all of his own research into the subjects and is only doing them to get the qualification. Definitely complains about how he already knows it all already and it's a waste of time for him to learn it again. His only conversation topic is him talking about how he's going to set up his own business as soon as he leaves school.
Is very intelligent but only gets average grades in most subjects because he refuses to try if he dislikes the subject or sees it as a waste of time.
Tumblr media
Watched DeathNote once and now thinks he's an actual real life version of Light Yagame. Carries around his own DeathNote and threatens to write people's name in it.
Convinced that he's been bestowed with supernatural powers, whenever he speaks he does lots of flashy hand gestures, - think generic cool-dude protagonist poses - these change depending on what piece of media he's currently obsessed with. His personality also changes alongside the poses.
Basically what I'm trying to say is he's the over-saturated 'weird anime kid' with a touch of superiority complex. Although, he's super confident and has absolutely 0 shame in this fact.
Bless his little heart, he loves writing but is the definition of 'uses complicated words without knowing what they mean'. He's still decently smart though. His grades would probably be pretty average because he struggles to apply himself properly. His favourite subject would definitely be something like sociology where he can freely express his profound ideas, even if some of them are completely god awful. He'd also enjoy any subject which gives him creative freedom such as art or English.
Tumblr media
Cannot see this lad as anything but a jock. He loves sports, lives and breathes them. He's probably a member of practically every single sports team and is surviving on the basis he has a sports scholarship of some kind.
Despite him being a jock he'd be the most approachable out of all the Akatsuki members. He's the kind of guy who no matter who you are he'd always be happy to crack jokes and talk with you. He definitely brings in way too much food, he's that dude who brings a whole mini banquet to school every day for no discernible reason. He's always happy to share though, he's definitely the kind of guy who if he saw someone sat by themselves at lunch he'd sit with them and offer them food.
His grades would be a little on the lower side because most of his free time is taken up with all his sports, however, he'd still work hard at his academics regardless. If anything this man is probably the most dedicated, he would hate the fact that he's falling behind all his classmates but at the same time would rather die than give up any of his extracurricular activities.
He'd be fairly popular because of his naturally easygoing and humorous nature, but people would rarely ever invite him to events as they'd just assume he was busy.
Tumblr media
Konan is an absolute babe, the kindest and most caring person in the whole school. Forgotten your lunch? She'll buy you some or give you her own. Didn't do your homework? Bitch will give you hers to copy, if it's an essay or something she'll sit with you and help you write it. Looking a little upset? Konan's right there to try and cheer you up even if you aren't friends.
Despite how wonderful and 100/10 a person she is she probably won't have many close friends. She'll get used a lot by others who take advantage of her good nature. She's smart enough to know what they're doing but she doesn't care, she's happy to be of help to anyone even if they don't appreciate it.
She's a bit of a teachers pet though, she's on super good terms with every teacher in the school even if she doesn't take the subjects they teach. Most of her breaks/lunches would be taken up by her helping with display boards or whatever.
Her favourite subject would be geography, she'd really enjoy learning about different cultures and societies. I can see her just really enjoying learning about how rivers are formed and stuff like that as well. Her least favourite would be something like math which is only fact based, she enjoys being able to look at things from different perspectives.
Also bitch would bake all the time, literally every lesson she'd whip out a box of cakes/cookies/anything else she'd baked the night before to share with the whole class.
Tumblr media
Carries knives around with him because he thinks they make him look cool. He can and will whip one out at any given opportunity so he can flex a knife trick on you. His knife tricks suck though, he always drops them or cuts himself, if you try and walk away he'll beg you to stay claiming that fortieth time's the charm or something.
He never shows up to lessons, he doesn't even know what one is. If you ever ask him what subjects he takes he'll look at you blankly and ask what you mean. If he ever is in a lesson it's because he was dragged there by a member of staff. Honestly, the few lessons he's actually present for are so chaotic teachers find themselves praying he doesn't show up. Being as he never willingly shows up he'll never know what subject it is, and he'll ask insanely bizarre questions un-ironically because he gives no fucks and has no idea what is happening. For example, you'll be learning about arteries in biology and he'll ask something like "What ingredients do we need?" because he'll have confused arteries with artichoke and think he's in a home economics lesson.
Despite being the weird knife kid he's pretty popular, he's so completely brain dead and unaware of his surroundings that its impossible not to get along with him. He doesn't have the critical thought to bully anyone and so even if he tries to be horrible it always comes off as though he's just trying to be funny.
Tumblr media
Oh dear oh lord what can I say about Zetsu? Zetsu is an absolute shit show of a student. Black Zetsu I can see as being very academic focussed, with their favourite subjects being religion, politics and some form of economics. I imagine they’d be very active within school politics/religious scenes, probably the head of some sort of group for both.
Black Zetsu would also be interested in applying for positions such as Head of Year, Class Representative and anything similar. They’re a big control freak and as a result have basically 0 friends. People would find them overbearing and awful to be around. They’re the incredibly opinionated kid who dismisses anything which they don’t personally agree with.
White Zetsu on the over hand, hoo boy. Class clown obviously. The living bane of Black Zetsu. If Black Zetsu wants class representative then you know people will vote for white Zetsu instead because he’s infinitely more popular. He’s incredibly weird but in such an innocent and goofy way they’d have a large group of friends. They wouldn’t be popular per say, but they’d be friends with practically everyone.
Their favourite subject would probably be biology because sex jokes, but I also think they’d enjoy English because uhh… Sex jokes. I just can’t see White Zetsu taking school even slightly seriously.
Tumblr media
He basically lives in the art department. If you walk near him he will tag along and start talking to you about art, it doesn’t matter who you are you will be forced to listen to his speech.
Incredibly confident and has no issue starting a conversation with anyone. He's definitely the type of person who every time you see him he'd be with a completely different group of people, whether they want him there or not.
Despite his weird constant art rants he'd be the life and soul of the party. He's always fun to be around purely because of how much energy he has. He'd be the kid who makes everyone laugh completely on accident, although people would probably be laughing more at him than with him.
He'd probably get invited to lots of places by other kids just so he could be the butt of every joke. He wouldn't mind though, he'd brush it off and probably enjoy the attention he gets from it.
Most of his friends would end up being people who know nothing about art though, all the students who participated in any artistic subjects would stay far away in fear of him starting another argument about art.
If the art class ever does clay his has to be put in the kiln separately because it always blows up. He also has a habit of 'accidentally' damaging other people's art if he dislikes it. Eventually he would mellow out and start appreciating other forms.
Tumblr media
Nobody knows who he is, people will have sat next to him for years and won't even know his name. The amount of times his name is called in the register and people will pipe up with "who's that?" or "didn't he move to another school?" is genuinely concerning. He doesn't care though, he'd rather go through school completely unnoticed.
Excels at all subjects (besides sports, he's never showed up to a PE lesson because of 'health reasons') despite putting very little effort into academics. His favourite subjects would be biology and math. He'd absolutely hate art as a subject, preferring to do art in his free time rather than make it into a chore at school. He'd have been put in Deidara's class at least once and it would have completely ruined all enjoyment of art as a subject for him. He'd also hate any subjects which prompt discussion such as English or sociology, he doesn't have any opinions on them and he doesn't care to listen to anyone else's.
Honestly, dude is the definition of a background character at school. He just simply does not exist, and I have mad respect for him. On the off chance anyone even tried to speak to him he'd probably completely ignore them, the only communication he has at school is through emails with teachers. He has 0 interest in making friends when they have nothing in common with him.
Tumblr media
Another character sort of hard to pinpoint. He’d probably be somewhat similar to White Zetsu, but not quite as popular. He’d be a right teachers pet, with few friends his own age. He’d probably spend spend all his breaks and lunches with teachers in their classrooms, offering to help them with display boards etc.
Despite being a teachers pet he wouldn’t be academic whatsoever. He’d always try his best but bless him, he’s terrible at every subject and ends up constantly making a fool of himself. He’s definitely the sort to raise his hand to make a really great point, but his really great point is basically repeating the lesson objective. When studying of mice of men he definitely asked “what’s the name of Curly’s wife’s husband?”
His favourite subject, regardless of his ineptitude would be drama. He’d always be the most melodramatic and over the top in every character he played, not really caring what other people thought of him. In fact, that’s probably his best feature. Despite his lack of popularity he’d always unapologetically be himself, his goofy and over the top self.
SPOILERS AHEAD:
If we’re thinking more about Obito, I’d like to imagine for the sake of this headcanon Tobi is what he’s like during lower school years and then suddenly one summer he comes back and he’s completely matured into this foreign character unrecognisable to nobody.
He’d become incredibly serious, forgoing the role of energetic teachers pet to a much more muted one. He’d still be just as terrible at all his lessons, and still spend most of his time around teachers rather than others his age but he’d no longer have that fun spark. He’d probably start caring greatly about what people thought of him so his latter years would be trying to stay under the radar completely.
