with bruce deciding he needs to wear the nightwing suit (nightmare fuel) and go out as nightwing it should be a thing that, whenever one of the batfam & co can't go out for whatever reason, they ask someone else to go our in their costume and cover for them. they have to act like nothing has changed especially if they look nothing like the person they're covering for.

jason only trusts steph & tim (& helena if she was down) to go out as red hood if he can't. tim bc he trusts him and timothy drake is just unhinged enough that no one is gonna mess with him. steph bc he trusts her a lot, she's familiar with the area, and they both think it's a little funny. helena only bc they have similar methods, and i think he would mostly joke abt it tbh. bc honestly the whole covering for each other thing is mostly a joke anyways.

if anyone brings up the pretty big differences between them (steph n tim) & the real red hood they gaslight the FUCK out of them.

i feel like damian would offer / try to convince jason he should be allowed to and it would take everything in jay not to agree bc it would be so fucking funny. dick gives him a look that would kill him ten times over if he was capable. jason, obviously pained, tells damian no.

dick trusts jason enough to go as nightwing, also jason literally would just do it for fun to mess with him. & he canonically does go out as nightwing to fuck with dick and that's so funny to me why is he like this.

jason agrees to go out as batman twice at most. he hates it and tries to pawn it off on anyone else. when he has gone out as batman you best believe he did some embarrassing shit so bruce would get memed to hell and back online.

Backstory:

There were two different people from different leagues who were rivals since the first ever year. The couple were in love and conceived a child, which was a baby girl who they named Y/N. However, the two leagues found about their secret affair that made the mother's father kill her husband. After she found out about the murder, the mother decided to go after her father and kill him the exact same way, but more painful and slower. This caused the mother to be sentenced to death while she was pregnant with Y/N's little brother, which made her give away her infant daughter to her trusted friend, Lady Shiva. Before her mother was executed, she gave Y/N a handmade stuffed animal that is a purple bat. She named her new best friend, Batsie.

As Y/N was sent to live under Lady Shiva's roof, she was forced to train, study, and do many chores while she was still three years old along with Deathstroke. However, she had an actual human friend named Matcha who helped her show off what the woman who was taking care of her about her true colors by making the young girl into a perfect weapon and helped her escape right after that.

When Y/N was four, she arrived at Gotham City and was wandering around before she arrived at an orphanage building where she was greeted by a woman who was called Miss Wells. Ever since then, she learned how the world was like and lived there before a man named Bruce Wayne came in and brought her to his home, which will be her new life.

"He was just a kid," when he says this, it takes everything in her not to point out that he must’ve been a kid too; she knows how old the boy in front of her is, just like she knows how old his younger brother is. He might not be a child anymore, but it was not a far off thing—if she lets herself think about it for too long panic grips her heart and squeezes, it was one thing to see how young the Bat's flock looked and another thing altogether to be confronted with it.

Robin, forever fifteen and stuck in a loop of broken bleeding dying. Huntress, grabbing his forearm and pulling him back from the edge; it says something about how wrapped up he is in his self-made destruction that he doesn’t fight against her, doesn't even try to stop her. Only just manages to catch himself before he falls flat on his face with the momentum.

"Red!" Her grip is tight on his forearms, it would hurt if it wasn’t for the thickness of his sleeves, and he can't help but wish he'd forgone the jacket tonight. He deserved to hurt. He deserved to be hurt by her, he was asking for it (he always seemed to be asking for it, he always seemed to deserve it). She could hurt him in a way his family wouldn’t – couldn’t – do and he thinks he wants that.

He thinks he's asking for it.

What he doesn't hear is the tinge of worry in Huntress' voice—it’s more Helena then, when she lets slip the care she has for him. The Huntress is her wrought-iron mask, her strength personified, but it is not the mask that recognizes the pain in his voice, it is not the mask that resonates with it. It's Helena; she hears the guilt for the things he didn't do and it echoes back to her, catching somewhere in the spaces between her family's cries for blood.

Clark’s stomach twisted as he approached the lofty manor, his thoughts jumbled as he attempted to get his questions in line. He hated that Perry was so adamant about the up-and-coming reporter pushing a more controversial story, but couldn’t find it in him to say no. It was experience, after all. Though, this was the opposite type of reporting that he wanted to do. Sure, he could chase a story through every avenue, but something that sat so high in terms of potential controversy? No thanks. He wasn’t even sure Miss. Bertinelli would see him. Did he need an appointment? Should he have called ahead? God, what would Lois do?

While it typically wasn’t difficult to keep his abilities in check, the anxiety that rose in his frame caused him to hyper-focus on his enhanced hearing. Shoes crunching the miniscule grains on the pavement, a sneeze could be heard from a few miles away, and heartbeats were scattered through the house. No doubt a security team, and Clark wasn’t quite ready to stumble over his words trying to explain his presence. His right hand moved absentmindedly to his lapel, ensuring his Daily Planet reporter badge was clipped on securely, as he closed the remaining distance between himself and the front doors. INTRODUCING anthony "dove" baek an original character based in the dc comics fandom. they are played by simon martyn.

anthony "dove" baek is a twenty year old barista and paramedic in training. occasionally, as they can afford it, they attend college classes, studying a variety of subjects with no set major. school is mostly for fun at this point; they have no real desire to complete a degree or go forward in their education, they just enjoy learning. it also allows them the opportunity to spend time with their best friend, karina "reenie" downing. becoming a paramedic is their real dream and they're so close to reaching it; they've always wanted to help people in a way that really made a difference.

dove was born and raised in gotham – during their teenage years they spent several weeks in central city, after running away from their current foster home – they grew up in a neighborhood on the border of crime alley and the bowery, regularly traveling between the two. they were an unwanted, but not unloved child. their parents weren't together and didn't plan on having children until their mother got pregnant; she wasn't ready to grow up yet, but their father was, if she agreed to it he wanted to keep the baby, even if it meant raising them by himself.

they came to an agreement. he'd take full responsibility for their baby and she'd sign everything away. he agreed that she could still be in their life if she wanted, acting as an aunt instead of a mother. (she accepted, though she still wasn't as present as he hoped she would be.)

dove's father did the best he good while raising them. he worked two or more jobs and he was always searching for a more stable position that would allow him to spend more time with his kid. he'd leave dove with neighbors and close friends while he worked but every minute he had free, no matter how exhausted he was, was spent making sure dove knew how they loved they were. their father was the world to them growing up. it didn't matter that he'd leave them alone a lot — being babysat by neighbors would eventually become being left at home alone, his father trusting that they'd be safe if they went out. (they were a true latchkey kid, left home alone with no supervision, expected to take care of themself until a parent got home.)

eventually, their father's struggles finding employment would lead him to accepting some... less than legal jobs. this is the start of a time where he'd be gone longer and longer stretches of time, until he just... never came back.

dove waited in their apartment for nearly two weeks before they accepted that their father wasn't coming home.

they knew that he'd never abandon them but it didn't stop that fear from creeping in, telling them that he'd finally had enough.

after losing their father, dove spent time on and off the street. they tried to avoid social workers and mandated reporters that would turn them over to cps because they didn't trust the foster care system. they'd only ever heard bad things and it scared them. the streets were the lesser of two evils in their mind. walking and surviving on the streets of gotham wasn't new to them, they'd been doing it since they were seven and their dad trusted them to be home alone for the first time. foster care was different; there was too many unknowns, they didn't know the rules for survival and they didn't want to learn. of course, there was times where they'd be picked up and placed quickly — usually in a group home, since they were older, but occasionally they'd wind up in a smaller foster placement.

there was only one or two placements they trusted enough to stick around for longer than a week.

and only one were they felt safe enough to stay until they finished high school. (their senior year was messy but at least they were stable. they had a warm bed to go to every night and that was enough.)

high school is where they would meet reenie downing, their future best friend and ex girlfriend. they met during a period in both their lives where they were starting to question who they were. they only dated for a brief time and during that time they slept together twice before figuring out that no, neither one of them is straight. they had a very amicable break up and have stayed close ever since. (this was helped by the fact that they have a son together. an accidental outcome caused by them being two stupid teenagers, who really didn't know what they were doing.)

they co-parent their son, sparrow, with reenie, though he primarily lives with them. reenie takes him on the weekends because she has those off and dove picks up the most work on weekends.

at some point during their preteen years they started to develop meta abilities, specifically superspeed. they have no idea how this happened, they don't remember anything special happening to them, nor do they think it was something passed down. neither of their parents, to their knowledge, where meta-humans. it's a very weird situation for them but by the time they're an adult they've adjusted. it's just a part of their life, it might not make sense but they're working with it.

now, they're mostly focused on their day to day, just working to get by and make the world a better place. even if their part in that is small. they're not a hero, not in the sense the people closest to them are, but they are good. they are genuinely good.

dove is one of the few people who have not let the corruption of gotham ruin their heart. no matter how bad their city is, they will always have love to give. they will never sink so low as to take their anger out on the world around them.

each day they do their best to make someone else's day better. with kind words or small gestures that might mean nothing to most people, but to others they're the world. this is how they begin their friendship with helena bertinelli, the huntress. she was a hero to them before she was their friend; they were someone who believed in what huntress was doing and regularly defended her actions. (in much the same way they'd defend red hood's actions, though that gets harder for them to do without feeling all jittery and flustered after meeting jason.)

scarecrow and harley know each other and are friendly!! 

harley and deadshot hook up during suicide squad activities (harley would be removed from the team after her first mission via Bruce Wayne, but she does end up being forced into it). also im channeling assault on arkham vibes with their dynamic. he canot rly stand her but isnt actually cruel to her, and she is mainly just using him but feels affectionate towards him.

i have not thought abt how the dynamic would work storywise but i desperately want killer croc and harley to be friends. i will reflect on this

black mask is super important for dinahs story!! hes like. her main villain : (

red hood is very important in my story!!! harley and ivy take him in after the joker kills him, and ivy revives him with the powers of the green, causing him to be connected to it as well (though he has no control over it and the things can do are very weak/not relevant to him skillset wise). hes basically harley and ivys gay son dkfgndkf, he views them as his parental figures over bruce, and while this is mainly to Spite bruce, he really does trust and care for them. more ivy than harley bc .. harley does some fuck shit. but he cares for harley too

(basically during the original bop, babs and dinah start it, then renee and helena join later, babs n dinah have a very awkward dynamic with helena bc shes gay and has never rly seen Other gay ppl, and barbara is very hostile and takes her staring at them as her being homophobic so. its not GREAT!!!)

(a while after the birds break up, harley and helena end up working together and end up hooking up a few times, its kinda weird, kinda tender, and its mainly just harley trying her best try and give helena a little support which is at the current time pretty uncharacteristic for her)

(the sirens are together at the same time as harley/helena hookups, this is the longest of harleys joker free periods so its when shes at her healthiest, though she is clearly still struggling)

(this is a massive jump in the plot but. its for the relationship charts. we skip past a huge arc ft harley/ivy getting together, and becoming safe and settled with each other. harley and dinah meet up and begin a gay little fwb relationship post bop events , bop events are similar to in the movie but i did take my own spin on them, so theyre. also different ! ) ((also also just 2 be clear, while ivy was jealous of helena, that was bc she wanted the intimacy and love harley was giving her. now that they are in a committed and healthy relationship, ivy is ok with harley having certain other partners that theyve discussed n agreed on! its very much something they talk about unlike what the comics show :/ ))

(babs ends up initiating the birds of prey’s comeback. dinah and helena are both very unsure abt it bc uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh the last time they worked together ended. VERY BADLY!!!! which i will release in more detail Soon. but. they end up agreeing and actually do form a rly good cohesive team and despite the awkwardness of their dynamic get a lot of good stuff done!)

one of my favourite things abt the helena and dove rp (only one person here knows abt it) is that helena is expressing concern about dove walking home by themself bc it's late and lowkey stormy outside and bc they live in GOTHAM and dove fully waves it off and says the streets aren't that bad.

its just so funny bc it shows how very different their life experiences are and how Insane dove is sometimes. they do not give a single fuck bc they know these streets! they know how to keep themself safe and they're kind of desensitized to the shit that happens
