Riddle Rosehearts was not accustomed to falling in love. He had rarely ever received affection to begin with. But when you started hanging out with him more, doing things for him, with him… he truly fell for you.

Ace Trappola was a prankster. He usually joked around with his friends a whole lot, but he found himself messing with you a whole lot more. You didn’t mind of course, you found it quite endearing. And somehow, his stupidity had gained him rizz points, because you could never see to get your mind off of him.

Jack Howl knew of you, how you hung around him all the time. He never seemed to mind it. He liked you being around, actually. Your scent was much nicer than everyone else’s. And one day, when you were sick, he truly found how much he missed you.

At first, Floyd Leech bothering you was nothing out of the ordinary. He seemed to prod and poke everyone, and he didn’t want to leave you out of the group. You always seemed to smile when he was around, so he did it more often; calling you ‘Shrimpy' and giving you tight, air-depriving hugs. But what he didn’t notice was him falling for you.

Jamil Viper was not unaware of your presence. Quite the opposite in fact. He was hyper-aware of you, always taking mental notes of your likes and dislikes. He would make you small snacks of some of your favorite foods. Riddle Rosehearts was not accustomed to things not going his way. He wanted you to stay forever, goddamnit. When you went through that mirror, he no longer felt free. He was stuck to his rules again. No longer did he have control over his life. Stuck again to the 810 rules, he was stricter than before. He would not accept even a toe out of line.

When you passed through the mirror of his nightmares, you took his freedom with you, and it was like you didn't care.

Cater Diamond took so many photos of your adventures together. With you he felt safe and secure. Like he was allowed to be himself. Taking photos to capture every instance of your lives, every smile from chasing him with flower crowns, every yelp from stubbing your toe, everything. And he took photos when you left too. But he could no longer be himself. His smiles in those photos were frauds, because how could he ever truly be happy without you?

As you were leaving him behind you were tearing his happiness to shreds, and you never ran back to him with a smile on your face.

Jade Leech had never taken you for granted. Not once. He cherished the time that you spent with him and was glad that you would be so kind as as to listen to his mushroom ramblings. He would talk to you with such a soft and loving look, it was almost like he was a whole other person.

Walking through that mirror you were covered in all the love he had left. Turning into a stone-cold man, he wouldn't be kind ever again.

Rook Hunt would always stare longingly at you, entranced by your beauty. He wasn't captured with anyone else quite like you. The way you held yourself to the way you talked. Everything about you mesmerized him. You anchored his seeking soul. You were what his ship was sailing towards all along.

When you said your final goodbyes, you were essentially walking off the plank. You were cutting off the anchor to his soul, leaving him to sail the seas for all eternity.

Lilia Vanrouge loved the happiness that you gave him. You made him feel younger than he was. Returning the energy that he gave was like a gift from The Seven. Always making his day brighter, he he wanted to be around you more and more for fear of losing what you two had.

You had tried about seven of your boyfriend's mushroom dishes that afternoon. Now, there was nothing wrong with his food. He's an amazing chef! But, eating mushroom dish after mushroom dish had begun to become a bit... exhausting. So when Floyd randomly walked into the kitchen, you knew you had found your escape.

"Hey Floyd! How are you doing?"

"Shrimpy!!" he smiles, walking over to squeeze you.

"Floyd." Jade's voice cuts in, stopping his brother in his tracks. "Don't."

"Fiiiine," Floyd pouts, but he doesn't squeeze you. "Watcha doin'?"

"I'm making some new recipies," Jade smiles.

You had never seen Floyd so quiet before. So, you decided to use this moment as your opportunity to gain freedom.

"Babe, I'm gonna go to the bathroom for a moment." you smiled as you slid off of your seat. "I'll be back shortly!"

"I'm gonna go with Shrimpy," Floyd smiled at his brother. "Can't have them getting caught up with the wrong people."

Realizing that this could ruin your opportunity of freedom, you quickly ran your mouth until you came up with a solution. "Floyd, why don't you uh— don't worry about— just... keep your brother company. I'll be back before you know it."

Sliding out from the door and sliding it shut, you made a mad dash for the exit in case Floyd had decided to follow you out anyway.

Under a tree, you choked on air as you breathed heavily. You had been running as fast as you could for the last ten minutes, and that was sure to take quite the toll out of you.

Leaning on the tree, you felt a pair of arms snake around your torso. You jumped, surprised, and stepped on your captors foot.

They didn't seem to pay any mind as they tightened their grip and kissed the top of your head. "My, my, you don't have to be so harsh with me."

In the midst of your panic, you realized that it was just Jade. "You absolute ass!"

"You love this ass," you could feel his mouth quirk up into a smirk.

You laughed, rolling your eyes at his comment. "Hell yeah I do."

Floyd was a wild card to you. He always surprised you even though you knew what he was going to do. You knew that the first time he saw you every day he would squeeze you like a madman. Even if he saw you before classes started one day, and it was lunch time the other. He would always do the same first step of the day when seeing you. You would always tense each time he scooped you into his arms, much to his dismay.

Trying to make you more comfortable, Floyd started to ease off on the tight hugs. But that just confused you more. Why would he stop doing something you could always count on him doing?

Floyd couldn’t keep doing this forever, though. He loved you and tried to control himself to the best of his abilities, but he could barely do that. He wanted you to be comfortable with him. And you loved that he was so rambunctious, but you would never be able to get used to that.

You didn’t know that he could tell when your face turned grim and your cheeks paled as he picked you up and twirled you around every morning. How your body stiffened within his tight embrace.

Finally, you had enough of the docile Floyd that was around you all the time. You wanted him to be loud and stupidly goofy again. So you asked him about the sudden change. 

“Shrimpy,” Floyd started out. He was serious and solemn, which was so unlike him. Much more like his brother, Jade. Maybe that's where he got it from. “You gave me a chance to be me, but you didn’t seem to trust me enough to be comfortable with me.”

That hurt you so much. You never intended for him to be hurt by your actions. And all you could do was stare at the merman that had changed so much for you. And yet he was not the man you had fallen in love with. And he would never be the same man you fell in love with again, because he had changed to be someone that he thought would be more comfortable for you.

The both of you, not knowing what the other one truly is, or wants. Caught in a downwards spiral of nothingness.

💞 I Love It | Jade Leech x Reader

You had been taking pottery classes without your boyfriend knowing for about two weeks now. Trying hard to surprise Jade with something hand-made for your six-month anniversary, you had been putting all of your effort into this class. Slipping and scoring the clay, you made a small tube before putting a top on it, scoring it in place as well. You loved the little scene you created, placing the still-wet clay mushroom on the small slab of clay that would hold your present together.

Finally finishing all of the mushrooms, you added a small tree trunk and smoothed a part of it over, dividing that the trunk would have some moss over it. Setting it down on the shelf where it would be put in the kiln later, you left the studio after washing the clay off of your hands.

Coming back into the studio two days later, you found your piece on the finished shelf. Pulling it off the shelves, you set it down at your workstation before grabbing some green, red, white, and brown paints and getting to work.

By the time you were done, your hands were completely covered in different colors that had started drying. The next day, you would put a clear glaze over the paint and then it would be ready to give to Jade.

You had the small pottery piece in a small gift box as you walked through the campus. You had hoped to find Jade before he found you, but somehow you knew that wouldn’t happen.

Your intuition seemed to become reality as two arms snaked around your torso, and soft lips kissed the top of your head. “What do you have there?”

“Jade!” you had learned not to jump whenever he snuck up on you like that, but it always sent a small jolt to your heart. “I have something for you.”

He let you out of his grasp so that you could turn around. “Oh?”

“Yeah, so it’s our six-month anniversary and I wanted to… get you something.” you said embarrassedly as you held the gift out to him.

As he opened it you said, “I know it’s not the best, but–”

“I love it.”

“You– you do?!”

He nodded in response.

“Oh I’m so glad,” you smiled. “I was so worried it wouldn’t be good and–”

“Love,” he said, pulling you by the waist to him. You were shocked by the sudden movement.

“I’d love it even if it was horrible,” he said before kissing you softly on the lips.

You’ve always wanted to kiss Jade underneath the stars. He was already beautiful, but you thought that him under the light of the stars would be a gorgeous sight. The way his cunning eyes would reflect those shimmering lights… ah, how perfect he would look.

And yet, you never could get him out to see the stars. No matter how much you tried, he was always exhausted and sore from climbing the mountains in order to find new mushrooms. But this time you were determined.

“Jade!” you caught up to him just as he was about to leave for his afternoon hike.

“Hm?” turning around, he saw you out of breath, holding your hands on your thighs to keep yourself upright. “Did I forget to give you your afternoon kiss before I went out?”

You blushed, “Well yes, but–”

“Then let’s fix that,” Jade smirked as he lifted your chin. As he kissed you, you almost forgot what you were there for. Jade’s kisses seemed to do that, to make you forget everything. “Better?”

“Mhm! But also, uh–” well shit. You hadn’t planned this far. “Do you think we could go camping tonight?”

Jade seemed to think for a moment. He already knew what he was going to answer with, but he wanted it to seem like he was really thoroughly thinking about it. “Sure.”

“Excellent! I have some tents in my room and we can set those up and–”

Jade shut you up with another kiss. “Let’s go pack, then.”

Walking into the forest, Jade helped you set up camp. By the time the two of you were done, the sun was setting and glaring into your eyes.

“Can we eat dinner in the field over there?” you gestured over to a pasture through the trees.

“After we make dinner, yes.” Jade smiled, pulling out his flint and steel and a small cauldron to cook a stew in.

You didn’t realize how many ingredients Jade had packed until you saw him take them out one by one. It seemed like he had packed a million in a little tiny bag.

After Jade finished cooking, he served a bowl for both you and himself.

“C’mon, Jade!” you smiled, grabbing his hand after taking your bowl. “Let's go!”

The grass tickled your legs as you sat down in it, pulling out a spoon. It had gotten much darker, and now you got to see Jade in the starlight.

Taking your first bite of the soup, the flavors instantly melted in your mouth. You didn’t mind how hot it was either, it was too good to not burn your tongue.

“Jade, this is wonderfu…” as you turned to look at your boyfriend, you were awestruck by his beauty. You were right, the way the light from the stars hit him was just right.

“Hm?” he was already looking at you, not taking his gaze away.

“Nothing, I’ve just always wanted to come here with you.” you smiled, leaning toward him and kissing him under the stars. You supposed that your lucky stars were shining brightly that night.
