The Gallbladder: the organ, referred pain, associated muscles, meridian and fascia
This organ is said to refer to the right side shoulder, but after that the consensus on referred pain seemed a little less clear. There are images and articles that show abdominal referral and posterior referral to a spot on the back. One doc I talked with used to refer to the abdomen as a “black box” in terms of its mysteries and pain.
On a parallel, there’s common agreement that popliteus is an associated muscle but after that there’s some discord.
Just sitting with this one for today… what movements benefit your gallbladder?

Acupuncture point Gallbladder (GB) 34 is a point I use regularly, but I hardly explain WHY I do use it. Acupuncture point GB34 is an excellent and effective point that activates and harmonizes the Gallbladder meridian. The gallbladder meridian runs mostly along the side of the body. This acupuncture point is also called the influential point of tendons and sinews - which is a term describing the soft tissue that connects muscles to bone; which will have a systemic effect. I use this acupuncture point a lot to treat shoulder pain and hip pain. But it’s very effective in treating rib cage pain and knee pain as well as headaches. In your next treatment if you notice I put a needle on the lateral side of your lower leg, this is why. 💖Acupuncturist Alyx . #acupuncture #acupunctureworks #gallbladder #gallbladderproblems #gallbladdermeridian #upstateny #upstatenewyork #adirondacks #adirondack #adirondacklife #adirondackmountains #glensfalls #glensfallsny #queensburyny #lakegeorgeny #lakegeorge #shoulderpain #headaches #upperbackpain #kneepain #kneepainrelief (at Acupuncture Nirvana) https://www.instagram.com/p/CBnflI4nUmp/?igshid=1x4f2us5evp02

Tiempo a tomar decisiones iluminadas! 🇺🇸 this Full Moon blesses us with the pure spirit of Virgo, asking us to live through the blessing of the body. Do you trust it’s infinite wisdom? Are you in the midst of change? Are you feeling the pull for transition? Please join me for an embodied practice of RENEWAL March 25 at Liberation Yoga (12South) to clear the path out of stasis and into flow! In this session we will move slowly and consciously into stillness from more categorically “active” (yang) to more lasting and patient holds (yin and restorative). Utilizing asana, breath-work and concentration techniques we will move beyond the musculoskeletal to the deeper and more pervasive connective tissues of the body to stimulate and balance energy flow through the liver and gallbladder channels. These channels govern physical, mental and emotional cleansing which is a perfect pairing for the energy of spring: RENEWAL! http://ift.tt/2mdY0r5 #nashville #nashvilletn #nashvillethebeautiful #nashvilleyogateacher #nashvilleyoga #renewal #yinyang #yangyin #hathayoga #livermeridian #gallbladdermeridian #livergallbladdermeridians #cleansingpractice #pranayama #dharana #liberationnashville #liberation http://ift.tt/2mKT6hM

Movement minded Monday I love studying the east and west. I love the merging and reconciling of both sides of the coin because ultimately, this is polarity... One pole, two ends, all connected to define the other. From that place and space, I love studying the Taoists energetic meridians, and I have very little formal education aka delineation of dogma, and therefore, I have freedom to see things as I do. I offer you the same with all of the images I produce, to spend a little longer glancing at them in your scroll then others and see what you notice and download. My movement inquiry has been, why do the Taoists meridians go so straight at so many levels, but others zig and zag? And then, at those levels of zig and zag, what is important? Most important to comprehend? This is the gallbladder channel illustrated here in green, by far the ziggiest and zaggiest channel of them all. I would love to hear your thoughts on this. #eyesthatsee #eyeswhichdonotsee #gallbladdermeridian #laterallline #fascia #fascial #fascialtraining #fascialwork #seethingsanew #watchoutfordogma #coiling #spirals #myofascial #myofascia #lateralflexion #coupling #movement #movementismedicine #adaptablepolarity https://www.instagram.com/p/ConJyiXP_b1/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Your lateral line: muscles, myofascia, and meridians What came first? Chicken or the egg? Well, in terms of vertebrates patterns “spinal yield & push” is the first vertebrate pattern. We either initiate this movement from the head or the tail to produce movement from our poles. Initiating from the head sends us tailward, and initiating from the tail sends us headward. This is represented by fish, as previously discussed in other posts, but also seen in humans by the fetus yielding and pushing the body against the wall of the uterus and by newborns initiating movement to briefly lift their head like in search for the nipple. It is the both, of course, tail to head and head to tail that balance each other and provide cohesiveness through the central axis. Internal Oblique: linchpin of the lateral line? Everybody wants six packs, but what about those love handles??? Most AK texts say abdominals relate to small intestine but I disagree. I think the internal oblique relates to the gallbladder channel. Either way, I’m finding it super important to connect with this muscle more and more, which has an interesting relationship / connection to Quadratus Lumborum (QL) as well! Depicted in anterior view A thought came up: what if so much low back pain is because QL is not working in the frontal plane enough? The two opposing lateral images in this slide-set are the same running model, but not just flipped. They are the different sides of the body. Notice anything? Check out those triangles. Location, size, direction, other shapes Interesting to note for myself in illustrating this was the posterior fibers of the internal oblique appear to run more toes to nose (vertically) than obliquely. I didn’t know that. Learned something new and highlights that QL connection in my mind. #internalobliques #abdominalobliquo #abdominals #obliqueworkout #sidebending #lateralflexion #gait #running #gaitanalysis #gallbladdermeridian #lateralline #fascia #myofascia #fascialfitness #adaptablepolarity #Anatomy #Humananatomy #movementismedicine #appliedkinesiology #meridiansinmotion #meridians #meridiansystem #tcm https://www.instagram.com/p/CmZ8JHYvhwq/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Lateral line: first to develop, first to devolve?? In the beginning, there was no gravity. We were suspended in fluid. We then emerged into this world, and began to set foot upon the earth, balance and move ourselves through time and space. I’m still exploring this lateral line of fascia and it’s energetic connections. The number one and two physical complaints are neck and low back pain. Take a look at the highlighted points of this line. (I just pulled from the neck to hip and didn’t get into head and lower limbs.) If this coil is missing, what happens? Gallbladder (GB) points: -GB21 activate channel, alleviates pain -GB23 opens chest -GB25 strengthens lumbar, treats back and hip pain -GB26 activates channel and alleviates pain -GB29 activates channel and alleviates pain, benefits hip -GB30 activates channel and alleviates pain, benefits leg #lateralline #gallbladdermeridian #gallbladderchannel #meridiansystem #meridians #myofascialmeridians #myofascialmovement #fascialfitness #fascialtraining #fascial #fascia #Humancoil #adaptablepolarity #weckmethod https://www.instagram.com/p/CmXG_IHPWxg/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Color me green, currently focused on the lateral line! (Gallbladder is classically connected to green) These angular lines fascinates me from the Gallbladder meridian Think we’ll see more when I explore the bilateral look of the two and coil creation, but in the mean time… I love these lines of intent. They triangulate in a way that’s highlighting of the hip and the shoulder and movement forward into space. (Didn’t even try to explore the cranial component today🫣) #gallbladdermeridian #lateralline #laterallines #fascialtraining #fascialfitness #fascialmovement #fáscia #fasciatraining #fascia #myofascialtherapy #myofascial #energeticanatomy #movement #movementismedicine https://www.instagram.com/p/CmPKu3WPAnl/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Rethinking myofascial meridian lines I always thought of this Functional Back Line of lats and glutes as part of a spiral sling…but I’m starting to see things differently now. “The default movement pattern vertebrates have employed is a side-to-side undulation.” (Your Lateral, and most symmetrical, lines of fascia and contractile fields) “This inherited pattern of movement is still the core curriculum for human Locomotion.” -Dr Philip Beach It is your core curriculum. Learned that last week all over again, thanks @thedavidweck I’m now finding my glutes and lats like never before, and simply. No over complicating things because we are already ridiculously complex beings. #fascialtraining #fascialstretchtherapy #fascialmovement #myofascialslings #myofascialtherapy #adaptablepolarity #gallbladdermeridian #lateralline #locomotion #wewerefish #humanmovement #humanmovementscience #movementismedicine #anatomy #gait #gaittraining #ropeflow #idontknowhowtohashtag 🤫😜🤪 https://www.instagram.com/p/CmMk0wop9wL/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Toe connections: gallbladder (GB) and liver (LV) Yesterday, we explored kidney and urinary bladder (included in todays slide). Today, I combined the myofascia and meridians of the GB and LV channels. The comparison begins to enlighten a few ideas, but I will wait until tomorrow when we do Stomach and Spleen. What’s worth noting here is the yin and Yang aspects of the foot. In fact, I feel like the fourth toe really gets forgotten (for that I’d add the third toe also since “knee over second toe,” and big toe fascinations are rather commonplace). Anyhow, if yin is receptive and yang is active, how can you play with your foot and balance and gait between these two lines??? Added hint: think fibularis muscles for fourth toe and #lateralline and extensor Hallucis Longus foot big toe and #deepfrontline of #fascia #feettraining #foottraining #humanarchitecture #yinyang #gallbladdermeridian #livermeridian #gaitanalysis #bigtoe #fourthtoe #footbalance #balance #meridians #myofascia #fascial #myofascial #adaptablepolarity #feetmovement https://www.instagram.com/p/ClobqHcp2Yz/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Lateral line and lateral flexion: the symmetrical pair We love symmetry. Even if not aware of it consciously, ideal forms of beauty typically are symmetrical. "Symmetry, as wide or as narrow as you may define its meaning, is one idea by which man through the ages has tried to comprehend and create order, beauty and perfection." – Hermann Weyl And yet... "There’s no symmetry in nature. One eye is never exactly the same as the other. There’s always a difference. We all have a more or less crooked nose and an irregular mouth." – Edouard Manet In terms of #fascia and #myofascia, it is the lateral lines that are symmetrical. (Vs the anterior and posterior chains of the body) Most interesting to me is that when we lose access to other planes, or combinations of chains in movement, the most notable movement is in the frontal plane and the utilization of the lateral lines... Like a limp. #movement #meridians #muscles #fascial #myofascial #gallbladdermeridian #adaptablepolarity #lateralline #gaitanalysis #anatomyart #anatomy #energetic #energetico #symmetry #symmetrical #symmetryart https://www.instagram.com/p/CleS27XPkH0/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Gallbladder detail and the lateral fascia of the cranium. Added in the paired Triple Warmer channel that runs from fourth finger to edge of eyebrow. What’s going on here? So many zigs and zags! Almost looks like an antenna spiraling 🌀 around your ear. It also connects eyes and ears which are of course intimately linked. What happens when we anterior tilt the cranium and still look to the horizon? And it’s polar opposite posterior tilt? Andrew Huberman discusses focus with narrow and expansive related to sympathetic and parasympathetic. So many thoughts on this, simply digesting.
