yay quinn on a well deserved norris trophy win!
"Oh my God," Is all I can say as Quinn's name gets called for the Norris Trophy. Jack standing to my left prompts my legs to do the same, trying my hardest to take a wiggling Ellie from Quinn while Cohen sleeps on my hip, just five months old.
My face nearly splits open from the smile I'm wearing, Quinn ducking in to kiss my lips as he places Ellie on my other hip, kissing the top of her head and the top of Cohens. He moves down the line, hugging Luke and Jack and his parents before moving to the stage.
"Here, Elle Belle, come sit with Uncle Jack," Jack offers, her running over as soon as she's on the ground to take a seat with her 'favorite' uncle.
Thank you, I mouth, Jack just smiling as Luke takes my hand that's not holding the baby to my lap, offering me a smile as the tears trail down my cheeks in joy.
Tears are in my eyes as Quinn makes it up, standing in a room of legends to take his trophy and the microphone.
"First off," He begins, smile bright as day. "I'd like to thank my teammates. It's a great group of guys, and - um -" He pauses, and although I've caught him on more than one occasion practicing for this moment in our bathroom mirror, he needs this moment to think through the next minute and a half.
"The reality of winning an award like this is you can't do it alone, and you really need good players around you. And I certainly have that, so thanks fellas."
"Um- to my coaching staff, great group of people, love playing for you guys. Um- Patrik Allvin and Jim Rutherford, thank you for your continued mentorship and trust. To the Aquilini family, Roberto and Francesco, for being here, nobody cares about the city and the fans more than you guys, so thank you."
"Momma," Ellie tries to whisper, stealing my attention, "Daddy got his award?"
"Yes, baby, Daddy won," I answer, Jack and Luke smiling the brightest.
"And to my family more than anything-" I can't help but look to the Hughes beside me, people who have been in my life for years, and be eternally grateful that I was accepted into it. "My brothers, its surreal to be able to go through the same profession as you guys, and my parents, for your continued support and love."
"And to my wonderful fiance," Oh God I'm not prepared for this. His eyes meet mine, smile growing impossibly larger. "This has been the first season I've been blessed enough to be a father, and truly I feel that's what drove me to be the best captain I could be. I love you and thank you for bringing our gorgeous kids into the world."
I blow him a kiss, tears still streaming as Lu squeezes my hand, chuckling.
"He was nicer to you than he was to us," He mumbles, entirely a joke, but it does earn a small laugh.
"And most importantly and lastly," Quinn continues, eyes on the trophy in hand, "to Roman Josi, congrats on a great season, wherever you are-" His eyes scan the crowd, chuckling when he finds the man in question. "There you are, when I think Nashville Predators, I think you, and you're a fantastic player and they're lucky to have you."
He turns, eyes landing on their next target.
"And Cale, I probably love watching my brothers play most, but I'd say you're next on that list, and I've learned a lot from you, so um, congrats on another great season, and appreciate you guys. Thank you."
His eyes meet mine, smile wide and eyes wrinkled at the corner in joy.
This is my boy, the father of my children and the man I love.
I could not be more proud.

Imagine this: you're in your dorm room, lounging in your tighty whities and socks – because, of course, that's the only kind of undergarment your parents, bless their hearts, deem appropriate for you. In an unexpected turn of events, a couple of your college mates, let's call them Jake and Alex, barge in. They're the quintessential college guys, always up for a prank or two. They catch sight of you in your gleaming, white briefs and burst into uncontrollable laughter.
Jake: "Oh my God, no way, dude! Are you for real in tighty whities? What are you, five?"
You try to grab something to cover up, but it's too late. The embarrassment is creeping up your neck, your face probably matching the red of your college mascot.
Alex: "This is just too good! Everyone's gotta see this!"
Before you know it, Jake's got you by the arms and Alex's got your legs. You're protesting and squirming, but your predicament just seems to make them more determined.
You: "Guys, please, put me down! This isn't funny!"
Jake: "But it is, man! It's like you're stuck in a time warp with those undies!"
They haul you out the door, and there you are, being paraded in front of your peers in nothing but your tighty whities and socks. The courtyard erupts with snickers and pointing fingers.
Alex: "Feast your eyes, everyone! Our boy here is still rocking the pre-teen look!"
The laughter swells, and you wish you could just disappear. To add insult to injury, you spot a classmate from your finance class, let's call her Emily, and she's staring in disbelief.
Emily: "Isn't that the guy who's always answering questions in class? And he's in... tighty whities?"
Jake: (teasingly) "Guess acing tests doesn't mean you graduate to grown-up underwear, eh?"
You can almost sense the stories that will circulate, the legend of the 23-year-old college student who couldn't leave his childhood undies behind.
Alex: "Maybe we should start a fundraiser and get him some boxers!"
You're begging now, earnestly hoping they'll have a shred of mercy.
You: "Come on, guys, seriously, this isn't cool!"
But the damage is done. You're the talk of the campus, the college kid who's still in his tighty whities. And all you can think about is how your parents, especially with their staunch views, would feel about this spectacle. They'd probably just nod, thinking this public embarrassment is a fitting consequence for not embracing proper adult attire.

Hi just wanna say happy holidays also for request can I request from Pokemon please
ok Hear me hear me out , yandere legend battle between Darkrai vs Arceus hcs where child reader knew them as a child and now reader knows them when she’s/there older 🙏👀
I can try with this, sure. Hope you enjoy it :)
Darling means literal God and Nightmare Incarnate when they were young.
Overprotective! Darkrai vs Arceus Concept
Pairing: Platonic - Rivalry
Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Obsession, Overprotective behavior, Stalking, Rivalry/Jealousy, Pokemon religion, Dubious companionship.
Tumblr media
Not sure if you'd be considered lucky or fortunate to meet these two when you were a child.
One of them, Darkrai, is a Pokemon that can cause nightmares.
The other one, Arceus, is literal God.
Maybe you used to have nightmares as a kid, nightmares of a dark shadow-like Pokemon.
These nightmares were a way Darkrai could communicate with you.
The Pokemon may have grown fond of a young child like you and altered your dreams.
However, soon the shadowy Pokemon grows greedy.
The nightmares are longer and soon your parents grow nervous.
After all... soon their child never wakes up.
This leads to your parents praying for you to wake up from this nightmare curse.
Meanwhile in your rest Darkrai is playing with you, no longer trying to scare you.
Arceus notices the prayers of your parents and takes note that Darkrai is essentially holding you hostage.
If you do not wake... you will surely die.
Arceus sends Cresselia to wake you from your sleep, pitying a child such as you.
Cresselia ends up prying you out of Darkrai's grip, much to the Dark-Type's annoyance.
Afterwards Cresselia leaves a feather with you, one that your parents make into a charm to put around your neck.
Fearing Darkrai will come after you again, your parents bless you and tell you to not remove the feather.
Due to your blessing, Arceus keeps an eye on you.
Arceus can tell Darkrai is lurking around you, the Dark-Type unable to let you go.
However this time the Pokemon can not put you into eternal slumber.
Essentially you meet these two Pokemon due to a traumatic event in your childhood.
Ever since both Pokemon have had their eye on you.
Darkrai wants to keep you to itself, meanwhile Arceus is following your parents blessing to protect you.
Now you're an adult, still under careful watch by these two deity-like beings.
Most of their "rivalry" is out of your sight.
While you still have that feather and blessing, Darkrai can't touch you.
Darkrai is usually a very misunderstood Pokemon, it didn't mean to hurt you.
The Pokemon wanted a friend... getting said friend nearly got you killed.
Arceus pities both of you, but the god has a feeling the Dark-Type may go overboard again.
I imagine things would heat up if your blessed feather was destroyed somehow.
This makes you vulnerable to Darkrai once again.
The Pokemon gets so excited, he can finally see his friend again!
As you fall into your nightmarish sickness again, you see Darkrai.
It's friendly towards you, almost treating you like a kid again.
Meanwhile I imagine Arceus does its best to interfere.
Maybe even to the point of entering your dreams too to try and chase Darkrai off.
That's how a rivalry between them would go.
Now the question is... what happens next?
If Arceus wins you will once again be protected, perhaps even blessed by Arceus and Cresselia again like long ago
If Darkrai wins, then you may die in the Pokemon's embrace.
Your fate isn't for you to decide...
Since maybe even birth, your fate has fallen to these two Pokemon... you are at their mercy.

Hello, there! I hope you're having a good day :Dc If it's no trouble, can I request Red Son, Nezha, SWK and Macaque meeting their s/o's family for the first time?? But here's the twist; s/o's family is really fracking wholesome, and their family never judges them once! Like,, they don't care about their god/demon/villain status - and: they didn't get nervous when Red Son or Macaque appears, nor did they immediately worship SWK or Nezha bc of the legends, they just treat them like they were any normal person, casually talking to them about their hobbies over dinner, and even once affectionately calling them their own "son"/"child". Basically, s/o's family really approves of them because they make their child happy, and doesn't judge them for who they are! :Dc These fellas gets a second family and they honestly deserve it-
THEY DO DESERVE IT YOU ARE CORRECT anyways here's some headcanons/scenarios since y'know stories are. difficult
Redson, Nezha, SWK, and Macaque Meeting their S/O's very supportive parents for the first time! Headcanons!(ROMANTIC)(GN)
Redson - so confused at first. He’s formal, prepared to justify everything about themselves to s/o’s parents. Probably was expecting them to be like his parents, but then they treat her not only nicely but also like a person and not some nasty creature?? What??? They may think they’re being tricked, but no, the s/o’s parents gush about their kid and then compliment Redson about his skills and how they’ve heard so much about them!! Dinner goes super well, and they send Redson home with the leftovers because “she needs some more meat on those bones!!” You talk to Redson after you two leave and ask them what he thought; Red bursts out crying /pos
Nezha - He goes in thinking he’ll have to explain everything about his past, surely s/o’s parents have heard about the terrifying Nezha? But to his delight they don't care about all that. They want their kid to be happy, and oh my what a strong young man you are! We’ve heard all about how sweet and protective you are!! He’s absolutely flabbergasted. He probably brought along some kind of food to offer them, and they literally love him so much! S/o has to reassure him he doesn’t have to be so stiff. The parents appreciate him for keeping their child safe and give him their blessing to keep dating and maybe even marry s/o if the two do end up wanting to marry(cue embarrassment from both Nezha and s/o)
SWK - listen. This man has worked so hard for his reputation as a good guy. But he’s got some stuff in his past he’s not proud of nor does he care for. So he’s going in fully prepared to be insulted, berated, overall just not treated right. But……the parents don't mention anything about his past. They don’t ask, they don’t press him about it. They compliment him, how nice he is, how he dresses well. They don’t nag him when he stims after s/o said something funny. They have something with peaches in it for dessert that he practically cries over. He’s so perplexed over the whole situation but honestly it’s in the best way possible. Very excited to see s/o’s parents again.
Macaque - there’s no way s/o’s parents would like him. C’mon, he’s a demon, he’s hurt people, he’s got this big scar over his eye…but they love him. They like his stories, how cool and calm he is, and the jokes he makes. He’s never felt so accepted before except for when he’s with s/o. Definitely thinks it’s a prank or a cruel joke, but it’s not, and he DEFINITELY cries about it. He would love to see them again. Thinks about how kind they were to him every day because it makes him happy that not only does he have s/o in his life, he’s also got their parents to support him as well. 10/10.

*Horse headcanons for the chain?
Hmmmmm horse headcanons huh. welp!
Twilight and Warriors often have arguments about which of them is the better rider. Wars probably wins out in the mounted combat areas (seeing as he has actual training rather than just going off instinct) but Twi has them all beat in the actual riding category, though Wild tries to give him a run for his money now and again.
Horses just seem to intrinsically like Time. Think old bird lady but for horses. Even Wild's more bad tempered mounts like him without bribery, which Wild thinks is unfair. The champion is somewhat convinced he's been blessed by Malanya despite the older claiming not to know anything about the Horse God.
Due to being a smithy that is well liked by the royal family, I can see Four being very comfortable around horses, having to shoe them all the time. However, due to horseshoes being the same shape and kinda monotonous to work on, I don't think he particularly enjoys farrier work.
Also, because of the existence of the carrot power-up in FSA, I think that Four theoretically knows how to ride but just... not correctly. Kid doesn't know how to ride slowly. It gives Twilight a minor heart attack because he helps the smithy saddle up and then BOOM hes just fucking GONE see you later small cowboy.
Legend and Sky can ride fine enough but its clear to Twi that neither of them learned by riding horses. Sky tends to want to sit farther back than is needed, more used to having to make room for wings. And Leg. Twilight has no clue what the hell Legend has been riding that makes all of his habits so fucking weird but it sure as Hylia wasnt a horse.
Wind and Hyrule have the least amount of experience with horses and riding in general. Wind probably gets a hang of it pretty quick. Meanwhile, Hyrule (being Hyrule) talks to all the horses in very soothing tones and is always super nice to them because he is not interested in another Horsehead fight. Not taking any chances here.

Okay but what if after Legend dies Hylia makes him a god and he watches over the Hero’s sprit and occasionally helps the other Links out of tough spots and pretty much stalks Hyrule cuz he is the biggest bunny softie
Firstly, the idea of Hylia elevating to godhood the guy who she's put through the most crap over the course of his life is....an interesting concept. Is she prolonging his suffering by giving him even more responsibility to handle even after death, or is she rewarding him for a job well done and allowing him to keep doing as he's always done, but now with the power to do so much more?
Add to that, what would he be the god of? I know I commonly portray Legend as being the embodiment of Life, so it could be that, but he might end up a patron deity of adventurers and magic wielders as well.
Regardless, if granted godhood, legend would 100% do his best to be on the lookout to help the heroes that come after him, regardless of the timeline because of course gods aren't hampered by silly things like that!
The gods aren't allowed to directly alter some things, as their creations do need to be allowed to live a little without having someone hold their hand and fix all their problems for them, but he pushes the boundary as much as he can, blessing items, creating random helpful things and of course occasionally ensuring that the worst case scenarios don't happen.
I think he'd create the blupees to be his eyes and ears in Hyrule to help him keep an eye on the world and the people in it. Grated, he knows they'll get shot at by Wild at least, but if they can't feel pain from that sort of thing and receive no injuries? He can help in another way and protect his little rabbits too!
Come Hyrule's era this guy is out here manipulating so much crap, you have no idea. A ten (twelve?) year old kid out alone in a strange country? Yeah, he's got his eye on this one. He doesn't KNOW that it's Hyrule at first, but there's something about him and he makes it a point to conveniently distract the monsters that still roam in areas that are at least somewhat out of this kid's path. He sends a little priest to make sure the boy is armed because good golly why are you out here without a weapon? And it's dangerous to go alone so wtheck?
By Wild's era he said screw it, I'm going down there. Cue Satori. Legend's over here watching the champion and enjoying it so much. Now he understands why Twilight looked so peeved so much. Gosh dang, Wolfie, he put you through the ringer!
Twilight, once he figures out why the rabbit-owl-horse knows his name, is not amused. He is glad to see his little brother again, although why do you look like this? Where's the pink fur and crap?
Legend's just glad he can sit back for most of the latter half of the kids journey and laugh at Twilight's suffering for once. He does help where he can, just little things the other deities can't chew him out for, and a multitude of blessed objects to make life easier.
Combine this idea with my God of War Warriors theory and he and the captain are just chilling in wherever the gods hang out, watching Twilight's suffering in 4K like the gremlins they are, with a running commentary. They only help when they can get away with it (they're still baby gods in comparison to the others) but they're keeping a watchful eye out.

Well, here I go, I guess.
Writeblr Intro
Hi. I do have a real name, but I just go by Curator online(short for Curator of the Legends, which is a whole thing I'm not explaining right now). I started writing in the third grade and picked it back up seriously in the eighth grade. I am a Christian, and it does influence my work, but more in a LotR way than a Narnia way.
What I do
I write predominantly fantasy, mostly for my novels and series, but I do have some soft sci-fi novels in there. Most of my short stories are horror/suspense/thriller/whatever you wanna call it. The series I'm working on right now is called The Sliver-Gifted Cycle, and I'm hoping to get a deal for book 1 this summer. Working on Draft 2 now.
Inspirations
My main inspiration for my current works is none other than Brandon Sanderson himself. His books are so good, and the worldbuilding is next level. A lot of my style is heavily influenced by him.
Another major inspiration is the grandfather of the fantasy genre, J. R. R. Tolkien. To this day, The Silmarillion is one of my favorite books ever. Not much to say on that.
The person who got me into writing, however, was a lesser known Christian author named Wayne Thomas Batson. If you want clean fantasy books for your kids, check him out. He was my first introduction to the genre and ultimately made me want to write in it.
Stuff I like
Obviously, Lord of the Rings and Cosmere, but I'll list my favorite stuff here.
Books(in no specific order)
Words of Radiance by Brandon Sanderson
Yumi and the Nightmare Painter by the same
The Silmarillion by J. R. R. Tolkien
Movies
The Dark Knight - easily the best superhero movie ever
Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings Trilogy
The Woman in Black - a lesser known horror movie, and one of the few I actually liked
Games
Pokemon
Zelda
I don't what else to put. Have a nice day and God Bless.

Kafei as the hero from Termina. Go!
OH MY GOD YOU SAID THE MAGIC WORDS!
So imagine Kafei was meant to be the Hero of Termina. There's a lot of ways you can go with the deities in that land, aside from the Four Giants that we definitely know exist. Do the Golden Goddesses exist? They might! Nintendo never said one way or the other that Termina is a separate plane of existence or universe or whatever you want to call it. Maybe there is Golden Goddesses in ALL the various lands and alternate lands in the Zelda universe and they present themselves slightly different.
But imagine for a moment that we don't have to shove Termina into the narrow boundaries of the Power - Courage - Wisdom trio. Imagine there's just the *hero* who is meant to stop Majora. I like to think that, in the events of the game, Majora saw that Kafei was a threat; he was smart, cautious and knew absolutely everyone in Clock Town. Despite (or perhaps because of) his parents, he seemed to be liked by a lot of people, from the owners of the Stock Pot Inn to the ranch girls to the people who run the shops. He is exactly the sort of person that could gather up a resistance against an enemy.
And of course, in Majora's Mask, he's out with his friends, gets his wedding mask stolen, his most precious possession at that point, AND he is immediately turned into a child after that. If it was just the wedding mask and he was still an adult, he could handle it. If he had the mask and was a child, he could have handled that, but the combination of those two things was his downfall. It seemed like out of all the things that had happened to other people at the hands of the possessed Skull Kid, Kafei's was meant to stop *him* specifically, get him out of the way so everything else could happen. The text in the game makes it sound like he's been a kid for a little while, more than three days, so this very well could have been planned.
So let's pause for a moment. Imagine that didn't happen. Imagine Majora didn't see a threat in Kafei. Imagine they came into Termina and started making mischief, stealing things and causing problems for people and maybe Kafei gets his wedding mask stolen by Sakon anyway but you know what he does? He chases. He makes a plan. He *gets his mask back* and then he and Anju have a good laugh over what an idiot the thief is.
Then the moon starts to get closer.
And Kafei looks up at it and makes connections with the strange masked spirit and his two fairies. He starts plotting. He finds out about the Temples and their corruption but much earlier on, before things can get bad. He gets a weapon. He is helped by the people he's known all his life, they find out about the Giants. And the Giants bless him because HE is their hero, he's the one who can call on them when needed.
Kafei cleanses the temples, he gets the masks, he finds his way with the support of everyone on Termina to the moon and he takes on Majora.
Maybe the giants give Kafei a mask. Maybe it's got white hair and strange marks on its face and represents all the spirits, living and gone, of the land Kafei calls home. After all, masks are very important to the carnival and the giants. Masks are an important part of their day to day lives. They have weight, meaning.
And this one was made specifically for him.
Kafei, the hero of Termina, uses the mask and Majora is defeated once and for all. And he becomes the stuff of legends.

What can you tell us about the Deity race in Linked Nexus, I wanna know how Time thinks, considering a potential one-shot that this information would be useful for
I'd like to answer your other ask with a fic that maybe shows this a bit more, so I'm holding onto it, but I can give some facts here!!
There used to be a lot of Deities around, but they tend to be powerful and active people, which means that during the Calamity, a lot of them were on the front lines of various conflicts (physical and political). The bloodlines petered out.
Biologically, Deities are not any other species, but their appearance reflects what they know. E.g. a Zora Deity is not actually a Zora, but they look like it and have some of the basic biological traits like water breathing and dim-light vision. Partial Deities exist, and may have less-powerful abilities. It is not based on a single gene, is what that means. Deityhood isn't on or off, it's a spectrum, though it ceases to be relevant at low concentrations.
Occasionally, a Deity shows up somewhere nobody expected. Does that mean they're blessed by external forces? Is there a hidden cabal of Deities out there that drop kids off every so often? Who knows?
Physically, Deities can be any body type. They tend to have colorful facial markings, white or silver or platinum hair if they have hair, and blank eyes. Their traits are possible to cover or disguise, though not always easily. Their shapes and what species they resemble is reflective of their upbringing. It can change, though, given enough time and motivation. E.g. Wild is half-Deity, half-Hylian, and grew up around mostly Hylians, so he looks very Hylian except for a few traits. Time grew up looking like a Kokiri, and who knows how long he spent looking like that before his body decided to change to a Hylian?
Deity rages can be triggered by a lot of things, on accident and on purpose. If they're accidental, they usually come as a result of a lot of stress and a loss of control, with an emotional trigger of some kind. They can be partially triggered, which is easier for part-Deities, and they can be controlled a bit. With practice and discipline, a Deity will be able to refuse the onset of a rage, or direct their actions during one.
During a rage, a Deity has ridiculous amounts of power (the manifestation changes from person to person and situation to situation, and can be anything from time manipulation to energy-kineticism to mind reading), is not always aware of what they're doing, and does not always recognize their allies. A Deity wants to be the one controlling the stiuation and will challenge anything that threatens their authority.
Even outside of a rage, Deities can have higher strength, greater physical awareness, and a strong drive for physical activity. (Time mentions that regular difficult spars and strenuous exercise can bleed off some pressure and make things easier to control.)
In "Power and Control," Time says “You don't need to worry about a vengeful god working through me.” Deities have fallen a bit more into myth and legend since the Calamity, so they're even more mysterious. Even before it though, popular belief was that some sort of literal cosmic/eldritch entity/god works through Deities, possessing them or telling them what to do, which is why they feel so foreign during rages. Is that true? Nobody actually knows, not even the Deities themselves. There's evidence both ways.

ex kingsguard, now bounty hunter Cyno x librarian Alhaitham Cyno who became a vessel for ancient god when he was still a kingsguard. Alhaitham, a ticking bomb that tries to uncover the secrets of the gem embedded in his chest. They meet at cementary and team up to uncover secret government project that they both have ties to.
Cyno's backstory:
*warning: character death, kinda
He was a captain of kingsguard, very thorough and capable. But due to that, he also got many enemies on his back - even in those who worked closest to him.
He started getting suspicious of one of the King's consultant's - Azar, doings and started in secret investigating the man. It seems that Azar was informed about it.
Once his team was investigating ancient ruins as they got a tip that something illegal and of high risk was happening in there.
Upon investigation, nothing turned up. It was a trap. Trap for Cyno alone, as he ended up in the middle of conspiracy against him. Afterall, he was too through, too much for certain parties to stomach. And on that moonless night he died, a blade to his throat, bullet to his gut and a bullet through his heart.
He died, bleeding out in the middle of ruins. But something happened, and he opened his eyes again. After a while he would recall the dream state he found himself just few moments before. He, small against glowing jackal golden eyes.
He was offered a deal by the guide of the dead himself. To stop brewing calamity and he will be offered life back again. And Cyno agreed, if he could enact justice again, live again he would do it.
Hermanubis showed him one hint of the god's true intention for Cyno - to follow the thread he started plucking when he was still the captian. The one that got him murdered in the middle of the night.
Cyno obviously couldn't go back to the Kingsguard. His death was announced as a sacrifice for the country, his funeral most grand. He became a bounty hunter - he needed new life, new resources, new network to start working again.
And oh how terrifying hunter he became. With Hermanubis blessings he was quicker, swifter, stronger. His senses sharper, his movement more agile and precise. As he was proclaimed dead and his physical appearance changed a bit - previously he sported dark hair and equally dark eyes, now his hair turned white and his eyes red.
In just but a few years he became urban legend.
Alhaitham's backstory:
He was just a gifted kid, attended prestigious school, then stopped and was homeschooled. The he came back to study ancient languages at university. During that time he got asked if he could help with translating some ancient texts for some sort of academic research one of proffesors was involved with. With a promise of this allowing him to pass classess fot the year he took on the challenge. Especially since this would allow him access to many interesting for him writings.
He didn't know what the research was about tough, the text were concering stuff like alchemy, philiosophers stone and things like that. But he delivered on the promise of translating the text to his professors - prof. Azar.
Once when he was staying in the university's library for research purposes, deep into the night, he got little too curious.
He overheard a conversation about the philosophers stone - the very essence of the study he was translating for; and followed the voices into underground laboratory, nobody knew about before.
Very unfortunately for everyone involved there was accident in the said laboratory. Azar was very sure he was on a breakthrough with the philosophers stone, but he only caused big explosion underground the university.
There were some casualities in the close knit research group.
As for Alhaitham a shard of the stone got stuck into his chest. Deep. He shouldn't be alive - yet he was.
Breathing heavily, bleeding, he escaped the underground before anyone could find him.
The incident got covered up by the University - a pipeline gone wrong in the underground causing the explosion.
He recovered on his own. Suprisingly, unless he intentionally tried to remove the shard, he didn't feel any discomfort. As if the shard got safely tucked in his chest, as if it was supposed to be there.
Alhaitham did graduate - with honors no less. He didn't hear anything else about the project, his professor only wrapped things up neatly at the end and thanked for his contributions.
He inherited a library from his Grandmother, a library he now keeps open and maintains. In meatime he keeps researching the gem and tries to put clues togheter.

What about Aku specifically do you find so interesting?
Thought about giving a short answer, meme or even a link to an old FAQ post but if I'm not writing a big ass Aku essay then I'm dead.
The first thing we see about Aku is that he wants revenge for his past, and that, if fired upon with arrows, he will return them. Hateful, menacing, terrifying, towering over the tallest mountains. The castle he wants to burn to the ground is like a pile of blocks. Everyone who slights him will suffer.
We see why he is angry in his special origin episodes. I, too, would be angry if hunted by gods, attacked by my creator and left to rot with hatred while my brother has a nice childhood. To be silent and powerless for so long, and suddenly gain voice and strength only to have it torn away, must have been frustrating.
Then in the far future, we see a different side of Aku who, despite his evil deeds, is goofy, petulant and almost childlike in his ignorance of common sense. A derpy despot. A weird little troll! He has won, but he can't have the things he seems to actually want; He is literally incapable of getting them because he is so prone to self-sabotage. He doesn't hurt kids. He bargains with people. He apparently reads books and collects treasures out of genuine intrigue. He's even the first to extend his hand in his endless battle with Jack, offering a potential solution--a very far cry from the destructive tantrums he was introduced to us with.
The immortal Aku clearly changed with time, and one wonders if he was always so affable, if that side lay hidden beneath painful fresh wounds.
Did Aku feel the sting of the sword and remember being hunted? Jack is hated because he wields the sword, he is blessed by the gods that nearly killed Aku. It isn't even the sword that Aku truly hates, it's what the sword represents: trauma, pain, the threat of death. It's the divine bounty on his head, declaring that as long as he lives, he will live in fear of death.
Is Aku not what we are?
Are we not all wounded children in a body capable of killing one person with our hands, two more with bullets and millions with the push of a button? We aspire to be like Jack, but really, most of us are like Aku. We are lazy, complacent, probably a little too rude and wrapped up in our ego. We plaster our faces everywhere and want people to love it, to love us for our faces and the things that we do, even when most of those things are self-serving. And in the end, despite our best efforts, we will die, most likely small and afraid. Aku knows he lives on borrowed time, and he still doesn't change. He doesn't think he needs to, and no one else expects him to. But we know he's capable of it.
Aku is the futility of the human condition, personified. The worst of us...and some of the good, too.
There's an esoteric element of his appearance echoed across ancient civilizations, but a cuteness in its eyes-to-nose ratio that's expressive and endearing. There's the whole thing with the crossover element that adds a new layer onto his character. He steals every scene he's in. Perfectly casted with a once-in-a-generation legend. All while having one of the most perfectly engineered character designs by Tartakovsky and Rudish.
He's fun to write. Fun to draw. Fun to think about.
Sir, that's my emotional support treedog.

I have read Qiang Jin Jiu and honestly think I'll never recover
(Spoilers ahead!)
Oh god, where to start this? Maybe I should start with the very begging: I didn't understood shit. I just saw a kid being tortured and lots of information. When I felt it was too much, I went after the translated map and OMG that was so helpful! Bless the translators for that. After looking carefully at the map, things started to make sense.
As the story went, before the end of book one I was not very familiar with all the characters. I kept mistaking Hai Liangyi for Hua Siqian lol. But during my reading I started to take some notes and was never confused again. The thing is, this book has A LOT of characters and some of them are introduced early but only become major players later (Yao Wenyu, Hua Xiangyi...)
Even though this huge ensemble would make characters easy to forget, this doesn't happen. The author managed to create likeable and rememberable characters pretty easily??? I fell in love with many of them at first read, even if they didn't show up a lot. And there were characters that got me completely off guard, I wasn't expecting them to be so cool and relevant, BUT THEY WERE (Fei Sheng, Kong Liu)! And the antagonists were also brilliant, I love a good story where everyone has a point and no one is actually evil: People from Biansha had their truths and in a war there are no right sides, Xue Xiuzhuo wanted the best for Dazhou (even though I can't forgive what the did to my baby Yuanzhuo), and Li Jianting??? WHAT A LEGEND! Also, Feng Quan plot twist left me speechless, what an interesting character. Every character was very human (in the good and bad way), everyone had their own goals and beliefs. I actually might do a second post screaming about every character because I have a lot to say about them. (hello hasen my love)
The Plot??? Perfectly done. AND WELL EXPLAINED! I was always a little afraid of reading novels with a lot of politics, but I really dug this one. The problems with grains, provisions, registry, army and BRO THERE WAS EVEN SOME AGRARIAN REFORM SHIT
The way this author write the MOST well written battles I have read, without using any magic... it's just... I never thought I would be so enthusiastic about cannons, rocks and GRAINS.
The conflicts in Zhongbo could be all repetitive, but they weren't at all. Each prefecture that Lanzhou took back had a interesting story.
The war with Biansha was also brilliantly written. The way Amu'er was attacking Dazhou from the inside out and the scorpions with those hammers??? My man was a genius. Sadly, he could never have predicted Bai Cha and her son.
Talking about that, the family relationships are a great point in this. Seeing flashbacks about Lanzhou, Ji Mu, Ji Gang and Hua Pinging made me CRY! They were so happy... And seeing Xiao Chiye with his brother and HIS DAD LIKE... Xiao Fangxu and Ji Gang best daddies. Fei Sheng and Yin Chang too, what a beautiful chapter the one that they talk after Fei Sheng has a fight with Qiao Tianya.
Talking about Qiao Tianya, it was refreshing to see a novel with more LGBT characters. The secondary pairings were great, they didn't steal the spotlight from cezhou, but were very enjoyable (even though THAT happened between Songyu). I just wished we could have seen more Qihua moments and OH GOD KONG LIU AND LUO MU??? That got me truly off guard, wasn't expecting at all. Also, I found really interesting how Lanzhou basically got a LGBT parade following him at the end, that was truly the gayest empire ever. I have so many headcanons here, let me scream them: Xue Xiuzhuo is AroAce, Li Jianting is a non-binary legend and Huo Lingyun a Bi King. Also, Fei Sheng is not straight. Said it.
The little animals in this??? I WAS TERRIFIED WHEN LANG TAO XUE JIN FELL IN THAT HOLE YALL I THOUGHT HE WAS GONNA DIE. But luckily he didn't. Meng, Hunu, Feng Shuang Ta Yi were all the cutest, I need more novels with cats.
THE CHILDREN - Ding Tao, Li Xiong, Xiao Xun and Jiran. They served chaos, humor and cuteness. I really liked whenever they showed up.
THE LADIESSS - If you have read my other posts you know I love some powerful women. This story did not disappoint me in that sense. Hua Hewei had some despicable acts, but she really got everyone on her hands despite never leaving the inner palace, good for her. Hua Xiangyi is a way better version of her aunt, my girl was smart and cared for the people, an amazing woman. QI ZHUYINNN owns my life, I really adored the fact that she was a badass and that she never hated the fact she was born a girl, slay. Bai Cha was really out there helping women that were sold and their children, that is some real sorority there. Lu Yizhi was so kind, loved seeing her interactions with Lanzhou. Li Jianting was everything, her story was one of the saddest and yet she was doing her best to become a ruler. Duo Er'lan was amazingly brave, even more than Hasen, mad respect for her.
And last, but definitely not least, there is cezhou. I have no words to explain how much I adored these two. The way both of them got their own development and had their own private goals and went after them, so good. They are so well written that I wanna scream. The chapters that are focused on Lanzhou's feelings are not big in number, even when he is the main character, his feelings are shown in discreet ways (the handkerchief!) and most of the time we don't know what he is plotting or thinking. But when we take a peek at what's going inside of his heart, it's... astonishing. And I love seeing how he actually cared for the side characters, even though he doesn't show a lot.
And Ce'an kind of caught me off guard, I thought he was going to be a totally different character but he went and delivered
Xiao Chiye was a perfect fit for Lanzhou and Lanzhou was a perfect fit for Xiao Chiye: they were both in similar situations where only them could understand each other's suffering, and after they leave Qudu we see how much of a match made in heaven they are (not just romantically, but strategically).
THE SEXUAL TENSION AT THE BEGINNING YALL... They were scheming/fighting and flirting at the same time. Iconic.
Read this, you won't regret it!
By the way, I started reading the story in December and finished by March, but I completely forgot to post this! College has been frying my brain these days.
Hopefully I will resume my Sha Po Lang reading and come back here to tell my opinions on the book. (Not sure when though.)
See ya!

I'm no writer but listen. I've just realized how perfectly my old fantasy race fits in BBC Merlin's universe. Creatures literally made of tiny specks of stardust and enough energy condensed in one place and Merlin being the product of so much magic accumulated in the land for years after the ban, going "unharvested" and being contained until the land couldn't take that much anymore.
Hunith finds him one day in the woods. A little babe. Not even crying, just looking curiously at the world around him. And who is she to just leave him there to be found by who knows what? Yeah, he might have really sharp teeth, unnatural skin color and she definitely can't deny this little being's connection to magic but she has already helped a grown ass dragon lord. She's not going to leave an unarmed baby to fend for itself, thank you very much. So she takes him against her better judgment.
Merlin grows and learns everything pretty quickly. She notices the older he gets the more similarities he starts sharing with her. His hair turns darker and a little curly. His complexion soon mimics hers. And in what feels like mere moments he almost doesn't look like a magical creature at all. One day he leaves the house when she isn't looking. Someone in the village sees him but they don't notice anything abnormal about him. They're just surprised Hunith's sickly baby they've only heard about has grown so much. Hunith sighs in relief.
She started researching what kind of creature he may have been years ago but after the purge it was hard to find any kind of books and sources that might mention magical creatures, even those more common. And Merlin? Well, Merlin is something she has never even heard of. Whether in legends or stories told to her when she was just a kid. Where did he even come from? What happened to his parents?
At some point she contacts Gaius. He doesn't know much. He's heard of ancient and powerful creatures but there's so little to go off here. Maybe some legends? But no actual proven sources. So he turns to his books. And more of them. And another secret stash after that. And a hidden room with more illegal knowledge. Until he finally finds something that just might be a clue. Old sightings. Stories of ancient gods that blessed people's lands and healed the sick. Or mentions of evil devils hiding in caves and scaring everyone who dared to come by. Every single one of them has something that fits Merlin's story but none of them match entirely. And then it hits him. What if he's all of those creatures? Because they're one and the same, just interpreted very differently by different people. Some scared of magic, some not being able to imagine their life without it. Creatures changing their appearance to fit. Just like Merlin did.

Will definitely do some designs for this. Maybe quick illustration concepts. Also I can ramble so much longer about the details of this specific race so might also add another post with some more context to how I imagine these guys, what their role in the world is etc.

(I think I nearly blacked out writing this I was possessed by the divine Peterick spirit. I'm too scared to put this on my own blog but I need the world to hear and I think you'd like this ram me based on your fic ref list)
Not to like, insanely dead dove-ify peterick but something that swims around in my head SO MUCH is how it really does feel like Pete took Patrick on a whirlwind when he was just a kid. Some slightly creepy, hopelessly suppressed bi-curious in the early 2000s, touch starved, boystarved, Patrick-starved 20/21 year old falling in love at first sight with a precious, pink, stupidly awkward dork 16 year old. So much that he still remembers what Patrick was wearing. Doesn't care for his audio recordings that Joe showed him until he SEES him, yknow? There's an inherent freakness there.
Promising his mom you'll take good care of him and sleeping next to and on top of him, crowded and trapped in the back of a shitty van you can barely cover the gas costs of. Spinning around and shoving against him on stage and screaming in his mic and getting to take him home with you every day. Your golden ticket, a sweaty teenager getting into YOUR van.
Ugh and I could go on forever about it. How by ioh there's this inkling of Patrick growing up. Still so young but getting his senses. Seeing how real relationships work. He's in his 20s now. 22/23 and Pete 26/27 and seeing his grip loosening. He knows he's losing him. He's even clingier on stage, writing love songs about teenage promises and calling him before calling even his mom after overdosing. (Though I'm not sure if that one is urban legend.)
I think part of how bad the band dynamic was after Folie was that venom Patrick had for Pete. It's 25/26 and 29/30. Patrick sees Pete being sold as this tabloid figurehead and he's stolen his late teens and early 20s. Spent his last high school summer with this dickhead who can't keep his life together. Who fights with him on everything and he needs out NOW but Pete's holding on so tight he's drawing blood and then licking the wounds. He needs him.
Soul Punk being the flop it was (completely ahead of it's time, besides the point) and feeling like you've failed. Pete made you peak and dragged you down with him. You can't start over. So you give in. He asks to hang out again and you get those words again. The same ones that made your brain light up with their rhythm at 16. The drummer in you. And you go back to him. And things are scary and careful and you're walking on eggshells but it's nice. It comfortable. You sink back in and do 2 records back to back. He's learned. He knows what he's done to you but he doesn't have to apologize. His lyrics are his apology.
Mania being so polarizing, too. Trying new things and not letting it get to you this time. You've conquered each other, you don't need the world. You can write music for each other and yourself and no one else. And stardust is just. So so so full circle. It's okay. Everything makes sense again. You can dance on stage and Pete can recite his words to people and not just a recording booth. It's 39 and 44 and you wouldn't trade it for the world.
YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH OH MY GOD ……. what a wonderful little essay you’re SO fucking right!!!! something that has always drawn me back to them after drifting back and forth to them in bursts of obsession is just. like. every single little facet of their relationship that has developed over the years and how it all well and truly stemmed from this very strange, unnatural, curious, twisted, enchanting fascination that this local too-sick celebrity cursed/blessed with boundless charm and a too-big heart and so much ink and mean white teeth and dirty dirty hands had with this fucking geeky teenage boy with patchy sideburns and bitten-through red lips and an off-kilter voice that he was still trying to grow into and limp skinny wrists and a pudgy stomach. he took that teenage boy to college parties, he bought him gifts, he took him to the movies, he made sure to saturate every square inch of his life with this new world that this kid was being thrust into—partially by force. waiting with baited breath until summer break starts and taking him across the country with him to breathe into his neck and touch him and tug on him and push him around until he snaps and it feels so fucking good when he does. patrick’s entire adolescence and the foundation of the rest of his life was permanently altered through pete and everything that started in the summer of 2001 still remains to this day in little touches and glances and inside jokes and intimacy and tenderness and adoration that most people would kill to feel. it’s so endlessly, hopelessly romantic and there are so many wounds that have been pulled open along the way and then either clumsily or carefully sewn back up…..… all these moments of intense codependency and tragedy and violence and anguish and possession and desperation. they feel so deeply for each other that it’s manifested so many times in the worst that humanity has to offer. i’ll never get away from them because they will never get away from each other because they physically can’t. it destroys them every single time it happens. and that makes me happy
