Inconspicuous mustache and glasses on, soooo you wanna talk about how galar could be good huh?
Points at you this is all your fucking fault (/j)
Anyways you’ve poked me so I’m going to talk about it now. Sorry not sorry.
Before I say anything: “Moth, Tinker, don’t like, all your characters live in galar?” Yes! Because when you’re making an au for Pokémon why make a region out of scratch, when Game Freak’s left a perfectly good blank slate for you right there?
Anyways with that out of the way, I’m putting this under a cut because this is going to be long.
Sword and shield are such disappointing games. You could say a million things about it— the graphics, the routes, the nat dex cut, so on and so forth, but that’s a long dead horse and im not going to start beating it.
I like Sw/Sh’s story. Or, more accurately I like the idea of the story that the games tried and failed to give us. I really want to say there’s something there to grasp at, but honestly? There’s not. Nothing burger ass game.
The plot up until the climax of the story is “The darkest day was a thing and there was a hero that stopped it. Bede’s mean and wants wishing stars. Wait, what?! There’s two heroes? And badass dogs? No way!”
It genuinely feels like they had a full story arc with plot beats written out, but had to scratch everything besides the climax and try to fill in the gaping plot holes as quickly as they could before they hit the deadline for release. It’s so jarring and bizarre when you reach the climax of the story, because it’s just… out of nowhere? You and Hop try to break into the Macro Cosmos tower to interrupt Leon’s meeting because he was… late for dinner? And Oleana hears this and starts acting like an unhinged evil antagonist out of nowhere, even though at the moment not letting you in is just, perfectly logical?
And then the whole hide and seek game she does for the keys— Team Yell joining in, none of this feels deserved at all, probably because there was, I don’t know, supposed to be things happening before this that properly built up to it?
It’s so frustrating, because if they had even executed the story at all, it would’ve been so cool. The guy who practically MADE galar is re-awakening what is basically an eldritch god in a misguided attempt to save the region from future disaster (trauma? Paranoia? All of the above?) but his plan backfires and nearly destroys everything instead??? It’s such a cool idea! And it’s just. Barely even executed at all.
Oleana and Rose both could’ve been such interesting characters. Their Pokémon teams are symbolic of themselves as people, for crying out loud! Imagine how cool those fights, especially Oleana’s, could’ve been if there had been a proper fucking storyline??
(I won’t go too in-depth, but Oleana using beautiful and feminine Pokémon up until her g-max garbador ace— a literal heaping pile of trash? And how that represents the her horrible personality hidden behind her appearance?
And how Rose’s team is made up of thorn and thorn-like Pokémon, as well as industrial Pokémon and his childhood starter? Without a rose in sight? He’s lost who he was to the pursuit of innovation or something. There’s no Rose anymore, only the thorns. Too bad there’s nothing before these moments.)
It ends up just feeling like a barely even executed dollar store version of Sun and Moon. You’ve got the punk evil team who isn’t actually evil, the altruistic company/foundation that turns out to be far worse than the evil team, extraterrestrial pokemon who are very debatably Pokémon being brought into the world and causing problems? Yeah everything screams “we tried to recreate the s/m formula,” down to Hop using Hau’s animations. Insane.
(Also team yell feels like another dead horse that I don’t want to beat— but they don’t work like Team Skull did. Team skull worked! Really well in my opinion! Meanwhile Team Yell is just… kind of a vague nuisance. I get that was the point, but if Macro Cosmos was going to be the villains— why not give any buildup beforehand? Oh well. I said I wouldn’t beat the dead horse.)
Tl;dr: Sword and shield is barely even trash, it’s an empty dumpster with some unopened cans in it and I am sitting in there playing with the cans trying to create a coherent story out of it. Man galar’s good if only it was good. Go watch Twilight wings it’s Galar if it was good
And also sw/sh feels uncannily like bootleg sun and moon, bri’ish edition.

Also Clavell's 'adopt every kid in sight spare no one' disease is contagious and it rubbed off onto Hassel. He knows what it's like to have a godawful family and he's just naturally someone who loves kids and someone who is so gentle naturally. Whenever a student gets a tiny injury that doesn't justify a nurse like a tiny scrape, they always go to Hassel. He'll put a fun bandaid on, console and/or shush you with a big hug if you're distressed, and then talk to you about art to distract you. His art room might as well be an orphanage during lunch hour because every single kid with parent issues is congregating there to eat lunch with him
I have a little headcanon on my own that Hassel's classroom is always open to not only students but teachers as well, if they need to talk and/or vent. Everyone is welcome to talk in there.
Like, if you're having problem with your family, you go to art classroom;
If you're dealing with a difficult crush, you go to Hassel;
If you need to vent after a fight with a colleague, you know Hassel is there to listen to you.
He just radiates comfort to me 🥺
But, as we said, he's very sensitive and he can get overwhelmed by all of this... If this happens, Brassius is there for him in no time, without questions.

All of these r from Bulbapedia, so u can see what the pages say if u want more details.
I'll start with: even tho flint is famous for being in a region with like, 3 fire type lines in the dex, he is imo not the worst divergence from from his Elite 4 Type. I'd argue that crown goes to Agatha and Lance: Agatha has one common type among her pokemon in most gen 1, being the only elite 4 member where that's the case. It's not their ghost. It's poison. Lance mostly has flying types. And also, in every game except BW2, he has a pokemon that knows hyperbeam, and I'm very game except BW2, Stadium, and HGSS, ALL OF HIS POKEMON KNOW HYPERBEAM. And in let's go, he has Seadra on his team, cause Kingdra isn't available, but still that's neat! However this means he has 1 (one) actual dragon type on his team.
Lucius (Sinnoh) is kinda just Will (Johto) 2. They're both psychic trainers, and the only ones in their respective Elite 4's to fully stay On Type. Plus the design similarities.
Speaking of Will, according to Bulbapedia: "There is data in Pokémon Crystal for the gender of every Trainer class in the game, with the exception of Eusine. This is used to select which dialogue pool to sample from when randomly choosing the opponent's dialogue. Interestingly, Will is one of two male characters to be identified as female in this array. The other is Bugsy."
I have been trying to find anything about this (there is no citation or clear info on how this worked) but I have trouble thinking it was faked bc sure, Bugsy, notably androgynous okay. But Will????? Just Some Guy??? (Though there is a... Theory? Idk how widespread. That Lorelei like. Transitioned into Will. Bc of their similarities. Which sure. Why not)
Also shout out genderless icon Eucine I guess.
also not elite 4 but there's no flying type TMs in gen 2 so Falkner has to give you mud-slap. He also has the Lowest Level Gym Pokemon Of Any Gym Leader Period. This poor man.
finally: in Alder's trivia, it says "According to "Pokémon Dream" magazine, Alder was originally going to have a more "Christ-like" design.[citation needed]"
A CITATION IS VERY NEEDED, I THINK

I loved your last Piers piece. May I request him saying number 7 from your spicy prompt list?
This didn't make me giggle at all like a schoolgirl.
His eyebrow raised as she came in. Sweat shined on her body as her partner, Absol went to the kitchen to drink water.
"Hey. How was the show?" Y/N asked as she smiled up at him with flushed cheeks.
His eyes instantly locked onto her chest, glistening with sweat as her breasts had a flush over them.
"i just showered but I don't mind taking a second one with you," He hummed softly.
Y/N smiled and took the towel from his waist, watching his cock twitch as she tenderly grazed her nails over his length. "I'm not against that. What are you going to do to me when we get in there though?"
Piers grunted when she gripped the base of his length. "Make you choke on it if you keep acting up."
"Promise?"

Why I like them: Yeah he's hot, extremely entertaining and has great fashion sense but at the end of the day what I adore the most is that he's so stubbornly and unapologetically himself despite The Horrors.
Why I don’t: They took my man's vocal chords 😔 Also I wish we got to see more of Spikemuth than just his alleyway and stage
Favorite episode (scene if movie): He was in like one episode of any of the animes so that one I guess? Good ole Mournful Piers...
Favorite season/movie: See above.
Favorite line: Is "all of them" too much of a copout...? Guy's one snarky beautiful bastard through and through. Even when his dialogue's not particularly notable it's still an excuse to stare at him
Favorite outfit: As cringe as Gacha games and the way they exploit FOMO to get all your dollars are you REALLY can't go wrong with Sygna Piers. His painted nails....
OTP: Piers/Raihan and Piers/Raihan/Leon all the way, sorry for being basic 😔 Something about thier whole dynamic is just, incredibly and profoundly pleasing, especially after the Star Tournament got added. Piers and Rai TOTALLY NOT FLIRTING when facing each other, Piers kind of taking Leons little bro under his wing...even in the base game Raihan shoots his shot *in the middle of a Kaiju rampage* and Piers sure does have somewhere to be quickly once all that nonsense is resolved...
Brotp: Several. Leon in the timelines Leon's not part of the polycule. Prehaps more controversially, a poster exists that implies he and Opal get along better than thier Galarian Star Tournament dialogue makes it seem so I think it might be fun if Bede wasn't the only feisty queer moron she's mentored. And also an..."interesting" fic I read once had he and Nessa be besties and as much as that fic was An Experience they were kinda cute together in it
Head Canon: Many, but my main one is that his season was the same one as Leon and Raihan's and they hung out several times much like Marnie does with Gloria and Hop. Little 11 year old Raihan in particular had a fairly restrictive and shitty home life where he was subjected to immense and stifling pressure so of course he thought this scrawny little punk kid from Spikemuth was THE COOLEST and was kind of starstruck whenever thier paths crossed. No I don't have an ulterior motive for headcanoning this why do you ask /j
Unpopular opinion: "Greasy chaos demon that would knife anyone for 5 quid" memes are fun but aren't  really reflective of what we get in canon. Guy's soul is a latte /ref
A wish: He shows up in a future game (and we finally get to hear him sing). Hopefully he's happier if it's a timeskip, guy deserves to rest and do things for himself for once.
An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen: He shows up in a future Legends game.
5 words to best describe them: Uh, "tired as fuck special guy?"
My nickname for them: oies, the rodent

the magic of modern science. wow...
#ask#sapphicdroid#i did look it up to fact check myself after i reblogged the post and saw the adapters#honestly when i was younger i never knew it didnt have a headphone jack#granted the only time i ever saw one in person was on the school bus with a friend#he played pokemon blue on it and i dont remember the details of all that went on during#i mightve also seen another kid on the bus play pokemon emerald. i dont remember.#however that was my first exposure to gen 3 pokemon. as a kid i only knew about Red Blue Yellow and Crystal#my brothers had Red and Blue. and so thusly i have both games now. i... dont know where my copy of Red is though.#i have a copy of Yellow from Ebay but it loses its memory sometimes. which i think is why it was put on Ebay in the first place#Crystal however? well first i knew of gen 2 through pokemon stadium 2#we had both pokemon stadiums for the n64. or. well. still do have them.#speaking of. sure does suck to go through the gym leaders and elite 4 in those games. mostly due to how long rounds are.#emulated it a while back and i had to use the fast forward feature a lot#anyway. Crystal. somehow i got my copy from a random coat in a clothing store. just. in the pocket.#i dont know how i managed to find it. it was either in a coat my mom was looking at or i was looking through pockets... probably the former#anyway within like a week. a kid in 3rd grade stole it from me#i... think i got to the elite 4? i remember getting to the last dude with the charizard. forgive me for forgetting his name.#but like right after i had it stolen. i got on the bus and vented to my friend and he was like ''oh i have two copies of crystal''#and then gave his second copy to me. i forget if it was on the day of or if it was the next day.#anyway that same day it got stolen again. by the same kid. that kid stole so much shit from me#he switched schools the next year so i couldnt do anything about it#i have uhhh... soul silver now. so its not that big of a deal these days#anyway thank you for the ask :) i appreciate you telling me anyway

Fine.
FINE.
In light of recent events, it appears I've made a post that has displeased many of you. I... apologize. It was not my intention to make anyone upset. I believe... I typed largely without thinking, and defaulted to a train of thought that was once natural to me. I won't deny that there is a part of me that truly believes what I said, (and that squirms at the idea of acting remorseful for it), but that part of me is a leftover from a long time ago, and I'll make an attempt to rise above it. After all, it's a gym leader's job to be an example for others, is it not? I'd be dreadful at that if I didn't make more attempts to spread positivity...
With that said, allow me to humbly try to rectify my statements by taking a moment to... hmph... appreciate the types that I named in that post.
Oh, this will be difficult.
Bug types. Oh, bug types. let's just get the hardest ones out of the way first, shall we. I believe... I appreciate the transformations some bug types go through. Like going from Caterpie to a graceful Butterfree, or Grubbin to a fearsome Vikavolt. I see myself in that. It feels very inspiring, even if I still wouldn't allow a Vivillon to land on my arm.
Specifically, @artyburgh, Leavanny is one of the few bug types I'd be able to call "cute", and I appreciate its caring nature. It's expressive in ways I'm not accustomed to in bug types. I also think it's one of the few pokemon you can say has a sense of style, ehehehehe... hem. Furthermore, I enjoy the sense of style you bring to your gym, if such praise means anything to you from a budding gym leader such as myself.
Dark types... I respect the challenge they've presented to me in the past. Contrary to what one might think, I do enjoy being presented with hurdles to outsmart- not only does it make me appear capable when I manage to do so, but it's simply... engaging. Thrilling, even. As a former psychic type trainer, dark types being immune to my attacks certainly was a challenge I had to rise to meet. I believe battling some of them made me a better trainer. Not to mention, their cunning is ever so slightly reminiscent of the trickery I enjoy in fairies, even if it may be... annoying, occasionally.
@grimsley-official, I respect your restraint, but... I suppose... hmmmmph. I suppose just because I'm a "kid" doesn't make my platform any less impactful (at least I should hope so), and dark types already receive quite a bit of slander from the public as it is. I should not have said what I did. Also, Liepard is a wonderful choice for a pokemon- It's proud and elegant nature is very endearing. In fact, I find many of your choices to be quite respectable. If I had to pick dark types, anyway... @piers-official, I'd say I also find your cohesive team choices and commitment to your aesthetic admirable, even if it is one I'd never see for myself. Malamar, in particular... such a presence from a pokemon...
Poison types... poison types, poison types, poison types... Tch. I simply don't believe I like them. But, I can see that they're fierce battlers. In fact, I see that all the time, given that people are constantly bringing them into my gym. But that's beside the point. Their battle style is unique and all their own, and I can acknowledge that it might appeal to some. And of course there are a few I don't mind, like the Glimmora in Paldea or Roserade I see about Galar. Venonat looks like something Miss Opal would like.
@rockstar-roxie, I can not honestly say I enjoy any of your pokemon, but I suppose they need someone to care and vouch for them all the same. Hats off to you for doing so.
Steel types- this one happens to be quite easy. They're sleek, efficient, streamlined... very proper pokemon. Nothing to write home about, In my opinion, but not inherently awful for any reason either. Other than being very good at defeating my fairy types, I suppose.
I don't happen to want to go into detail about why they make me uncomfortable to be around.
I acknowledge that dragon types are extremely strong. I do believe the consensus in official leagues is that they are, pokemon for pokemon, one of the most powerful types there are. And anyone who would seriously invest in training even one of them... I understand that it is quite the ordeal, so I must respect anyone who has managed it as a pokemon trainer. Just... kindly keep those jaws at arms length from me. Please.
Ground types... from a battling perspective, it's difficult to completely disregard ground type moves, as it's the only type that is super effective against electric types. Even my Rapidash knows Drill Run. They have a very respectable battling niche, and I should not be so quick to dismiss them. It's only... the dirt... shudder. I realize that that's a personal problem, though, and I ought not to let it get in the way of the way I perceive the pokemon themselves.
@underground-boss-clay, even I have to admit that the Galarian Wild Area would never be the same without the Palpitoad song in the evenings. Perhaps appreciation for that pokemon is something that we can actually agree on?
And for those of you who I haven't mentioned by name, how about this- for the next ten relevant asks I receive, if you send me something about one of your pokemon, I'll be obligated to compliment it no matter what manner of creature it is. Does that feel fair to you?
Sigh... I HOPE everyone's satisfied now.
