I completely forgot to redesign Belos for the au and only just realised midway when I drew him for a scene redraw and I was like oh shit- as he doesn’t have a right arm in the au (in this post there a small explanation to why) and I completely forgot so I then had to design a badass prosthetic for him.

Designing the prosthetic was one of my favourite things to do because I designed it around how his cursed form has his muscles/ bones exposed which I tried to mimic and used a real prosthetic arm from the 16th century as a reference but made it more fantasy and extra.

The coolest thing about Belos’s prosthetic in this design is that it also meant to resemble an artificial magic staff because it is one! It works the same way and allows him to do magic without relying on the glyphs.

Ignoring the obvious mechanical prosthetic arm I really only did some small tweaks like colour or outfit for example but I did give him a chapstick to remove those dry ass lips because I just personally didn’t vibe with it lmao

Also i had the weirdest mandela effect as I for some reason remember Belos’s eyebrows being really thick but then I used a reference of him as a base for the redesign and they were so thin??? which is really funny because I made Pip have really thick eyebrows for some reason when originally designing him so I think after drawing Pip loads and not having properly watched toh in a hot minute I probably assumed Belos had them too… Ive finally corrected my mistake as Pip is meant to be an almost perfect replica of Belos and so now Belos has thick eyebrows too so they can be proper twinsies lmao

I wanted him to straight up look like a corpse so his eyes look really uncanny due to how saturated they are in comparison, the specific vibe I wanted for Belos was this specific image of Prince Philip who looks like he is just barely hanging on to the world of the living and seems like he’s having a “weekend at Bernie’s” type of moment

It's Gonna Be May!

Saying that SiIvaGunner has in-jokes is perhaps the most obvious statement of all time - it is an in-joke upon which the entire channel is built upon. Yet there's obviously always different LAYERS to each joke, how obvious each of them are - and even today, there are many running gags on the channel that fly over people's heads despite having followed along for so long. Indeed, such is the case today with guess what​?​?​?​?​?​?​?​?, as requestee eg_9371 made me aware of a channel in-joke that's been running quietly in the background for the better part of seven years as of today. All of it built on one simple truth - tomorrow, it's gonna be may.

To reiterate - beyond the funny ha-ha memes we all know like Mr. Grand Dad and more, the SiIvaGunner channel is filled with little nods and gags that oft go overlooked. I of course covered 5 Nights of Snop Dog recently which is a great example of one, there's how rips like Kill & Learn (Recut Ver​.​) reference a running joke by long-time mashup artist Triple-Q about how Sonic Adventure 2 and Kill la Kill have an immeasurable amount of similarities, rips like Kermit in the Ocean being spiritual successors to very specific years-old rips on the channel - you get the jist. Some of these gags eventually get special attention on the channel through specific channel events, but such has not yet been the case with guess what​?​?​?​?​?​?​?​?'s joke - it's a gag that's stayed in the background since its very beginnings, and is only being kept running by a select few rippers. If you're listening to the rip now and it still hasn't landed yet, you may need to be enlightened to the ways of hit boy band *NSYNC. Or, well, really the band itself matters very little compared to the song of choice - It's Gonna Be Me.

Boy band music has a pretty interesting track record on SiIva in general, honestly. One Direction, Backstreet Boys, Boyzone, *NSYNC - to me the typical audience that obsesses over these kinds of bands feels at odds with my image of the average SiIvaGunner fan, and yet whenever they're prominently pushed I get reminded of just how good their music can be when wielded by good rippers. We've had two explosively quality events focusing on two bands in particular, the Big Time Rush takeover of Season 5 with Famous Surprise and the One Direction day of Season 7 with Beautiful Dreamer. *NSYNC hasn't had the same explosion of notoriety, but It's Gonna Be Me in particular has stealthily appeared on the channel every year since 2017 on April 30th. The joke is originally an ancient Tumblr meme from 2012, based on the way singer Justin Timberlake (yes!) pronounces the titular line in the song as "It's gonna be May" - the joke writes itself, and so Tumblr users have annually celebrated the day-before-May in Timberlake's honor.

eg_9371 writes in his request for this post that he's actually one of the most active rippers in keeping this joke going on SiIva for all these years, which I find extremely commendable, and it all started in Season 2, with guess what​?​?​?​?​?​?​?​?. It's a rearrangement of the song in the style of Donkey Kong Country 2's Mining Melancholy, a track most notable for its rhythmic percussion of steel drums sounding like steadily-working pickaxes deep in the mines. Its a fantastic track on its own, yet that percussion especially is a shockingly natural fit for the harpsichord(?) backing prominent throughout It's Gonna Be Me. Mining Melancholy's usual percussion and other parts of its melody stick around for large parts of the rip, making it more of a melody swap/mashup of the two than a full rearrangement a la Sog-Gee Ambiance - but it only serves to enhance the two tracks used, giving It's Gonna Be Me a more melancholic sound and Mining Melancholy a more self-assured feel in return, a super interesting blend of moods. I don't think the It's gonna be May bit would have worked nearly as well if the rip it was paired with wasn't of high quality, and guess what​?​?​?​?​?​?​?​? clears that threshold effortlessly - its a great rip that's made me appreciate the quality in both songs used.

*NSYNC rips have, again, continued to show up in all the years since, always on the dot, often even deliberately placed as the LAST rip of April 30th to drive the joke home. I think it's really sweet that the joke has stuck with eg_9371 in particular, likely in part due to alden wolf's initial contribution to the bit - he's even made It's Gonna Be Me rips on dates completely unrelated to the beginning of May, just because its a genuinely fun song to listen to. There's tons of these "secret" gags left to find on the channel, reoccurring dates or rips that reference jokes from other rips that are years-old by now - and really, a huge part of the fun in running this blog is getting to discover so many turning gears of the channel that I'd never been made aware of. Keep an eye out for these gags yourself - and keep an eye out on SiIvaGunner channel itself later today, to see if It's Gonna Be May for yet one more year.

Angel Dust is gay. He will not be having romantic relationships with any females in the show. The only way he would ever be with a female, is if for whatever reason Valentino decided that he needed to sleep with a woman for his porn. Which I can’t see happening but….yeah. 

Speaking of Valentino, the way I play Angel is him still definitely within the confines of the contract. He might do things he is ashamed/embarassed of and doesn’t want to actually do because of the contract. Dubcon will probably be explored on here to some degree because he struggles saying no to Val. That doesn’t stop him from fighting back, but he’s going to do some gross things because his soul is owned. Also, my Angel does have love for Val. That doesn't mean I ship them AT ALL. It means that I have no shame as a therapist in exploring the cycle of abuse and toxic relationships, and that this is incredibly important to my Angel's story.

This being said, dubcon would be the only thing I'd put under a Read More because I know other people hate it. I don't really intend to write it out, but people could argue that Valentino using his 'poison' is considered dubious consent, and yeah, I'm going to write that and flesh it out a bit. As for other read mores, I'm lazy and it ain't gonna happen. You followed a character who is a sex worker. There's going to be smut. Murder. Cussing. That's the content of the show. I have no shame putting it out in the open. As mentioned, you can check the trigger warnings on my posts before reading something.

I’m a multipara/novella roleplayer. I’ll do some one liners and crack stuff, but it won’t be as common. I want to have elaborate threads. I want to flesh out this character. I’m going to come up with things about him that Vivzie doesn’t and make him a little bit my own. And that comes from writing, writing, writing. If I don't reply to you, it's probably because I can't work with one liners and I am stumped.

YA author Tomi Adeyemi (disclaimer: I only read the first book in her series, I don't remember much aside from it not being for me, and to be fair I was finally accepting that I'd aged out of YA at the time) who has written the bestselling, soon-to-be-adapted Legacy of Orisha series, went on social media. She made the mistake of posting about Nora Robert's upcoming title, "Of Blood and Bone" with a comment about how it would be nice if an artist could make art without another artist shamelessly trying to profit off of this.

Presumably, she did this because Tomi's book was "Children of Blood and Bone".

A few issues that Tomi, someone who at that point was a successful published author, could've easily figured out with... A Google? A discussion with her agent? Basic knowledge about publishing that many other people who'd never been published would have?

A) Based on the publishing schedules of the book, it would be unlikely that Roberts saw Tomi's book and cranked out a manuscript and came up with a title to capitalize on Tomi's book. Indeed, it turned out that Nora had turned in her MS, with the title conceived presumably soon after, about a year before Tomi's book came out.

B) Even if the title was made to capitalize off Tomi's book, it's extremely unlikely that Nora had the final call on the title. Publishers often nix authors' title ideas. They brainstorm together. The publisher makes the final decision.

C) Neither title was especially original, particularly at that time (2018ish). Tomi's title was similar to many YA titles on the market. I mean, how may times have we seen "X of X and X"? There are meme generators about it, and it was already being snarked about in 2018. I mean, y'all, A Song of Ice and Fire came out DECADES ago.

D) Mimicking a title to capitalize on success, though I don't think that happened here, is not plagiarism. It's a title. There are many titles that are similar to each other. Is When the Duke Was Wicked by Lorraine Heath trying to rip off When He Was Wicked by Julia Quinn? The books compete in the same subgenre market. They definitely can benefit from people googling them and finding both. They're not similar in terms of plot at all. Titles are limited.

E) Nora and Tomi did not and not have similar audiences. Nora is a romance novelist who's branched into romantic suspense and dystopian/fantasy genres. She writes exclusively for adults. Tomi is a YA fantasy author.

Regardless of who these people are, all of this is true. Tomi's fans are all "WHO'S THAT BITCH STEALING YOUR TITLE" because yeah, they don't know who Nora Roberts is because they're teens or adults who read largely YA. They start going after Nora, who isn't even on social media lmao. (Which means Nora's assistant who runs her social media, of whom Nora has been vocally protective, is dealing with the vitriol.) Tomi doesn't call anyone off.

... Add to the mix two Nora-specific elements. Which then made a responding wave of people who are familiar with Nora's game, yours truly included, QUITE annoyed and also QUITE amused.

F) Nora Roberts... does not need to rip off a new YA author. Not only does she have her own audience... She has what I suspect is a much broader audience than Tomi. Nora is one of the bestselling authors of all time. She's outsold James Patterson. She's written hundreds of books, and has sold over 500 million copies of her books. She is WORTH hundreds of millions of dollars (some estimates have her at around half a billion). Since 1999, every single one of her books has been a New York Times bestseller.

And before anyone comes for her with ghostwriting accusations.... I mean, listen. She could be the greatest bullshitter on the planet. But based on what she, and other people around her have said, and based on the way she talks when she goes off on a podcast.... I believe that's all her, dude. She treats it like a 9 to 5 job, and she works on vacation. She's VERY seriousa bout this.

She did not need to capitalize on anyone.

G) Nora is one of the most vocal anti-plagiarism advocates, possibly ever. She was famously plagiarized by Janet Dailey and talks about it as if it happened yesterday. She worked with other, newer authors (including Sarah MacLean) who were plagiarized by the same woman to seek out justice. She's very loud and proud about it.

And so... Tomi did end up apologizing, prefacing it with the fact that Nora apparently reached out like "I couldn't have plagiarized you because I've never heard of your book". Nora also made this post.

I'll be honest: I think Tomi was being thoughtless and self-centered when she posted that shit. And reckless, as Nora said, because when you have a large fanbase you NEED to remember that you're sending the dogs after people when you post shit like that. And you need to call those dogs off if they go too far. It was exceedingly immature and unprofessional.

At the same time, I also know that Tomi has done important work as a very visible Black author of YA fantasy about Black characters, with a fantasy world and magic system based on Nigerian (primarily, from what I understand) history and culture. I think that her work being adapted is, on a grand scale, a potential net positive on that level.

.... Do I ever want to read one of her books again or watch the show? Not really. I might give the show a shot if it has good buzz, though, because the show isn't just Tomi; it's also other Black creatives and performers. I want to support that, and if it's good I sure won't act like it isn't.

But I don't have any interest in any more of her books. It's hardly the worst thing an author has done, TO BE CLEAR. This is shitty, but it's not the kind of shitty, abusive behavior many white authors have indulged in and bounced back on. And I think it's only fair that Tomi has the ability to bounce back from something lesser, and she clearly has.

It's just that for me, I'll never be able to pick up a book of hers without being like "that was a shitty thing to do" and also "Wow, HOW EMBARRASSING". It's like, so LOUDLY embarrassing that I'm not even sitting here acting like my moral condemnation is the main thing keeping me from reading her work. It's just really REALLY cringe.

Anyway, I super don't recommend fucking with Nora Roberts. She will be more scathing than you ever could be, and if you ever do something legal-action-worthy, it's fairly likely that her lawyers will be bigger than your lawyers.

my thesis is about the 2022 "nier church incident" wherein a user on the nier automata subreddit started posting extremely-credible videos claiming he'd found a new secret area in the game that no one had discovered before, and the fanbase went absolutely insane. i argue that the incident provides an interesting window into a possible religious studies framework for looking at video game secret seeking as a quasi-religious act of communal orientation and meaning-making

it's very fun to read your speculations about how all the stuff i mentioned could fit into it! unfortunately, most of that stuff is just mentioned in 1-2 sentences; the meat of the fun stuff is mostly related to nier automata, shadow of the colossus, or The Bible.

I don't like to directly post on this topic but just... goddamn, someone has to tell the crackers that their whiteness blindfolds are on. There IS no "if you take a tme person and a tma person of the same race" for BIPOC, both cis and trans, because all BIPOC cultures have been held to colonial Victorian gender roles – roles that are (trans)misogynistic among other things. The overwhelming majority of "traditional gender roles" discussed outside anthropological contexts double as Victorian-era European colonial memes. The Platonic cultural images of "ideal" masculinity and femininity aren't consistent with whichever culture has the most people; they're specifically White.

Cisgender East Asian men are never "exempt" because of pervasive, racist tropes like the "soybean phytoestrogen is feminizing" hoax. Cisgender Jewish men, regardless of whether or not they would otherwise be White, are never "exempt" because of similarly antisemitic, racist ideas like the age-old "Jewish men are so naturally feminine that they menstruate" smear trope. Cisgender Latina women's natural body hair is transphobicly scrutinized as "more mannish," and cisgender Black women's natural facial shapes and silhouettes are misogynisticly scrutinized as "less feminine." So on, so forth. You're not a helpless nestling bird that hasn't opened its eyes; you already knew some of this. You will also note that all of these things are not "just" racist and are all based in comparisons to Victorian gender roles. We were seen as backwards savages whose genders could not be distinguished from one another because we did not have the extreme gender roles that "more civilized" Victorians of high society did. THAT is the purpose of the statement "TMA/TME labels can't apply to me because I'm not white": it's to highlight how, due to colonialism, NONE of us BIPOC are truly "exempt."

The point was NEVER "there are no transfems or trans women of color." The point was "colonialism has violently forced Victorian gender roles upon just about every nonwhite culture in ways that are necessarily racist, sexist, and transphobic simultaneously." White people should not be speaking over BIPOC on matters of race, ESPECIALLY not in cases like these that DIRECTLY reinforce said colonialist Victorian gender roles as universal and normal. I think one of the reasons the harassment post going around about me is making me so upset is not only because well, its a harassment post about me specifically that people are just uncritically sharing and has reached 2,000 notes now full of tags about how much i should kms and deserve to be shot and killed and how much of a fascist libtard i am based entirely on one meme post i made, but also because i have... already had a really rough month

This month alone i have been woken up at 3am to a slew of emergency texts of one of my best friends attempting suicide, ran to her apartment through sketchy alleyways because i have her spare key, didnt find her there, and had to play the waiting game as to whether or not she was still alive. She was, and went back to work the same day after refusing treatment. And then she just got back together with the guy who drove her to try it because "but i love him and he prommied real hard to change 🥺" and MOVED IN WITH HIM against everybodys screaming at her not to. Now we are in the awkward stage of not really talking to each other before the friendship probably dies out, after which i dont know what will happen to her, but i do have to accept the harsh reality that shes dug her own grave and i cant help her if shes going to act like this.

And then i got extremely harshly disciplined twice at work for stupid reasons. I was treated like a dumbass who cant do anything right because of other people's stupidity trickling down to me, and being blamed for the actions of passengers who didnt speak a lick of any language of any officer we had on the floor at the time and i couldnt effectively communicate the procedures i had to do with. It took me making a big X with my arms to get them to stop. And they treated me like i told them to do that

And then all my friends transfer to different airports because of a contractor switch giving them advancement opportunities as new positions get established. I dont want to advance yet personally, so i decided to stay where i am. Plus, im tied down here by a lease.

i'm a bit of a nerd when it comes to guns, and thought randomly at some point that it'd be fun to start this gimmick blog and try to identify guns in various posts. however I do still kind of consider myself to be in the dunning-kruger valley, and gun identification is a bit more complex than car identification due to just how many variants of individual gun patterns there are, and how much easier it is to do modifications of them...

(ask / submission rules and other guidelines are further down in this post)

I'll try to at least identify the general pattern of the gun or any recognizable parts and cross reference with images and articles to make a decision. If your post or submission is from a particular piece of media, it's extremely likely for it to already be documented on the Internet Movie Firearms Database wiki website, so some answers will probably be pulled straight from there.

For example, the wiki clearly outlines that, in the above blog header, which is from the anime/manga Lycoris Recoil (IMFDB link here), Chisato (left) canonically uses a Detonics CombatMaster (variant of Colt 1911 pattern, chambered in .45 ACP), specifically one that incorporates elements of the Tokyo Marui Strike Warrior Airsoft replica (notable in the strike face compensator and modified rear sight). Takina (right) meanwhile uses a somewhat generic Smith and Wesson M&P9 PRO, chambered in 9x19mm, with the extended 5" barrel.

To make up for how garbage I am at getting specifics right, I may also offer some bits of trivia about the gun(s) in question and/or their implementation. For example, although Chisato's gun seems based off of the Tokyo Marui design, it notably has three port holes at the top of the compensator as compared to the single port in the original; it might be a bit more effective as a real compensator than the very-Airsoft cosmetic fixing of the TM replica. It also lacks the accessory rail in the anime. Additionally, Takina's signature sidearm, the M&P9, is extremely common in modern law enforcement (you might even recognize the handle of it in the "(A) Steal Officer's Service Weapon" meme), so it's a bit of a "cop gun" in a sense; which possibly matches how Takina essentially serves as the by-the-numbers half of the pseudo-buddycop pairing formed by her and Chisato. Interestingly enough, all other Lycoris agents are seen wielding Glock 17s instead...

i'm a 21+ trans woman (she/her) and pansexual/biromantic disaster married to a hot butch wife. i'm also an independent game developer and secretly a streamer on another alias of mine. i like guns! i like the history of guns and the engineering of guns. personal favorites are sniper rifles, particularly the L96A1, the first military-specification sniper rifle made by Accuracy International, which served as the prototype of the Arctic Warfare line of rifles, popularized by Counter Strike's AWP (though the classification of "AWP" is incorrect for the particular weapon featured in the series, it's actually an AWM .338). favorite pistol is probably the Beretta 93R, a 3 round burst fire pistol with a similar pattern to the iconic M9 pistol. i also like the MP7 PDW (obvious half life 2 fan is obvious), the MAC10 (by far the coolest machine pistol to fire in akimbo lol), and the G36C (one of the first guns I ever decided to look up more information about many years ago after picking it up in Garry's Mod of all places).

1. How many works do you have on Ao3? ~155. Approximate count because some are podfics of my work back when it was the convention to make the writer also an author. And I have some stuff posted in an anonymous collection which I don't think get counted in works despite counting into other stats.

3. What fandoms do you write for? Currently Batman, Star Wars, Foundation, Shadowhunters, Lord of the Rings, whatever random thing catches my attention.

5. Do you respond to comments? Very sporadically. Mostly for comments where there was something specific I wanted to respond to or comments from someone who prompted/inspired the fic. I feel a bit bad that I don't because I love all comments but it's a lot of energy for me that I could instead be putting into more writing.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Probably Everything I Build (Is Breaking Down).

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? I'm a sucker for a happy ending so there's a lot to choose from! Maybe Rearrange.

8. Do you get hate on fics? Not a lot, but people have left some truly unhinged stuff on Exit Strategy. I delete/block where needed.

9. Do you write smut? I'm not good at it. There might be like 3 sentences and a fade to black.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you have written? I write a lot of fusion AUs but not many crossovers. There's probably some weird ones in my older stuff!

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Full reposting, not that I know of. I did find that someone basically rewrote one of my fics, with extremely specific details, and that didn't feel great.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Yes, many of my fics have been translated :)

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? A lot of my fics are based on prompts so kind of collaborative in that way, but the actual words on the page writing bit is pretty solitary for me.

14. What's your all time favorite ship? X-Wing. Iconic.

15. What is a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? Still pained by my Les Mis Olympics AU WIP.

16. What are your writing strengths? I think I do a fun mix of humor and angst in my writing. Maybe word selection, I am obsessed with finding the best word with the most appropriate connotations. And perseverance, I will finish fics years later.

17. What are your writing weaknesses? Extreme slowness. All vibes, no plot. Cannot write fic longer than 15k.

18. Thoughts of writing dialogue in another language in fics? I think generally I prefer to write in English and dialogue tag that someone said something in a different language. Occasionally I do the italics to indicate or don't do italics but use Google Translate which inevitably goes poorly. This reminds me that someone sent me a translation fix comment and I need to go see if I can find that.

19. First fandom you wrote for? Yeah, it was probably Harry Potter. I recently found an old spiral notebook where like 14 year old me wrote in colored markers and it is the worst thing ever, I should burn it, but on the other hand it reminds me that I'm kind of proud that I've kept at writing so long and improved.

20. Favorite fic you have written? I think Misson Report. I have an enduring love for Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon and I like the cadence of it.

Since October 7, anti-Isral propaganda disguised as a "social justice" movement has flooded Instagram.

Influential individuals and organizations are working together to systematically promote a deliberate disinformation campaign aganst Israel that ultimately benefits Hamas.

They use social media to propagate false narratives, specifically targeting young left-leaning Americans, and orchestrating what might be the most significant propaganda offensive against the Jewish community since World War II.

Polls have found that half of young American adults side with the terrorist organization Hamas, responsible for the brutal October 7 massacre of over 1200 Israeli civilians and capture of over 200 hostages. And that their actions can be justified.

One organization responsible for disseminating the most deceptive anti-Israel propaganda aimed at influencing Americans' opinions is the Institute for Middle East Understanding.

The IMEU is backed by millions of dollars from wealthy donors like the Rockefeller Brothers Fund. The Rockefeller Brothers' father is John D. Rockefeller Jr., the "primary financier" of Nazi eugenics research.

The IMEU is extremely influential. They've gained hundreds of thousands of followers in just a few weeks. Their highly misleading posts get tens of thousands of Likes and Shares.

They accomplished this by copying the tactics of "anti-racist educators" on Instagram that launched the Black Lives Matter protests and riots in 2020.

In this 2021 panel, prominent anti-Israel activists explain how they use research from "Palestine Studies," a frivolous scholarship based on "decolonization" and Critical Theory, to create "social justice content" on Instagram to target American progressives.

IMEU Communications Director, Omar Baddar (salary: $100,000) explains their pivot from traditional media to social media, because social media offers greater control over the narrative.

He believes Palestinians should not be blamed when they instigate violence because:

"Israel as an occupying power is inherently the initiator of violence."

So, Israel simply existing is the real problem.

A key part of their strategy in targeting Americans involves drawing analogies to the USA's history of slavery and discrimination against black people:

"Jim Crow segregation is obviously something that every American understands, so explaining how the parallels between Israeli apartheid and that are very useful. For us, a central point is tying what is happening in Palestine to American moral responsibility."

Following these tactics, they saw a "massive explosion" in their following.

Their efforts succeed at deliberately misleading people and depriving them of key information and historical context that would allow them to better understand the nuances of the Israel-Palestine conflict.

Public opinion serves as Hamas' most potent weapon against Israel and American progressives are unwittingly being used as pawns in a scheme that ultimately benefits the terrorist organization.
