pluvi i impulsively pulled for jiaoqiu and i don’t know how to build him (and don’t even have acheron) do u know what works for him team wise and artefacts wise?

I will point u over to my beloved guoba’s vid on him if u want an in-depth discussion but for a tl;dr of that:

He slots decently well in any team where Pela does, so he’s good as a Dr Ratio support if ur hurting for debuffs w his team. Hes also an okay dot support (better w eidos so most wouldn’t bother at e0) and he’s pretty good in pure fiction due to ult spam—in general, probably think of him as a debuffing ult support, so he’s good w chars that need debuffs like Ratio and/or whose damage primarily comes from their ults like Argenti or Yunli BUT w the caveat that you’ll probably want Tingyun on there w them as a battery.

Ok, big post with all evidence pointing to ratio being from amphoreus and some pointing against it.

1-design stuff

Some notes, the style of clothing is very similar, most if all chrysos heirs have the same eye stuff that ratio has some just aren't colored (you can see it on some of the models in the trailer or the art at the end of the first trailor)

Spirals are a big thing, as well as the belt with the fabric (idk what it's call im sorry) and it draping over their legs. The blue stones and gold stuff.

Might be a bit of a pull but in the 3.0 live stream, dr.orange kinda looked like him, but I might be going insane.

Mydei and him have very similar eyes as well (I'm using mydei as a ref point bcs he's the only male from amphoreus we have splash art for to work with) same shape, puplies similar shape

I'm sure there's other design stuff and I might add it later. But for now this is all I got.

2-story elements

Now, this is more the lack of story, ratio has nothing but crumbs for his lore, where he's from, anything about him. Even his character storys aren't told from his own perspectives. The only time he really talks about himself is when he's referring to his goals or his love of books and baths.

He also doesn't have any clarification on where he's from other than the Intelligencea guild, and that's just a faction. There's no mention of his home planet at all.

On the official wiki. There are some that are classified as cosmic but we know the home of (boothill, acheron, Sunday, rappa[iffy, we know some details, like it was under dr.primive, but we don't know it's name so idk]) and some that we don't because it doesn't matter to there lore bcs there wanderers. Like sparkle, blackswan, and argenti. But dr.ratio doesn't fall into any of those categories. His home planet is vaguely mentioned as they have a bunch of stuff on him, but that's it.

It seems to matter to his lore, as you'd want yo know all about this great doctor, yet he's a complete mystery. And the quests don't help either.

He's not made for penacony or the space station. He even calls himself a supporting character, his character story was about others and guiding the trailblazer through helping them. He was solely there to help aventurine in penacony. Barely anything for himself.

That lack of knowledge tells me what I need to know. Either he's purposely keeping it a mystery, or it's gonna be figured out later. I mean if he is from amphoreus, he probably keeps it a mystery bcs how the hell is he gonna prove it's real.

3- What proves it's not real.

So, there's all this evidence, but it's lacking or doesn't make sense in some areas. Most of these points were brought up on tiktok by @/veritasratioenjoyer they make some really good points in their post, and its what inspired me to make this:)

So. It's stated in the livestream that the people of amphoreus have no concept of the outside world, meaning it's very unlikely that he's from there, considering how well known he is and that he follows the path of the erudition.

Also I'm glad that this patch cleared up somethings about Boothill. I've been in arguments with people over how he's like chivalrous and I was on the side of no not really. He's a good guy but he's NOT that good of a guy. He beats up IPC employees indiscriminately and even with the wardance event he was threatening the camera girl. This event made you really walk through how no Boothill is not above pulling a gun on a random ass person if they're in his way. It's a get out or get fucked situation.

That aside baby boothill oh my god precious BOY. Grey is a girl I think because of the gentle fem voice in his memories. I was stubbornly trying to kill everything with boothill but with the fucking tv enemies that's hard fuck those fucking guys.

Rappa is alright i significantly dislike her less now that I know her. I won't complain about her design cause it fits her style and personality. There was a flash of the galaxy ranger she was talking to when she killed all the research apes so I'm guessing that's going to be another future character.

Reca is funny, he just is, I feel like if they matched his face with his en voice it would be better. His en voice sounds pretentiously deranged to match the character but idk if it matches his face. Youtube play button eyes is funny to look at though. I don't think he's related to Gallagher because he's a memokeeper of Fuli and not one of those fictionologists. Gallagher and him just have brown short hair its not that deep in my bad opinion. In conclusion they should make Reca look more deranged for me :)

Robin and boothill interaction in this patch as well for my playthrough I just mugged the slumbernana fans cause I thought that's the way boothill would go since he's the one who offered it so I went with that and Robin had an interesting line about that. She said something like; its easier if I'm not around considering the way you do things or whatever. I think they got along fine I did want them to be bffs but I think they're just chill together Robin doesn't entirely vibe with the pull out gun first way of solving problems.

Talking about future fic ideas. Under a spoiler cut because it contains some 2.6 spoiler stuff so just be warned.

That one CG of Boothill lives in my brain because what if there was a period of time where only had a prosthetic arm like Luka? Obviously I think most of his cyborg body was both done in one go, but that CG had me thinking......what would a younger Boothill, who maybe just was venturing into the cosmos and maybe just became a galaxy ranger, what would he be like? I want to write something about it, knowing me it'd have eventual smut but maybe be a slow burn......for once.

I feel like I just wish I knew how he became a galaxy ranger, maybe they'll touch on that in a myriad celestia about the galaxy rangers (but also maybe not, if Rappa even gets one like Jade and the Stonehearts did)

Hes an intresting one, sorry for any mischaracterization, I try to be as close to cannon as possible (or as close as i can considering chisaki being in a romantic relationship is very ooc.)

Love language - giving:

Physical touch: he isn't afraid of touch, he knows that he’ll have to use his quirk and by proxy touch someone when needed (example: healing kurono, convincing rappa to join), he just… Doesn't like it.

If you're fine without physical touch, yippie!!!

And if you are like me, someone whos main love language is physical touch, this would be a rather tricky endeavor for him. He’ll opt for touching you only when he knows you're clean. And it would be fleeting touches at most, moving your hair, or putting his hand on your shoulder. I think (more so hope) that he would ruffle or play with your hair once he's gotten more accustomed to physical touch- fresh out the shower. He likes the smell of your clean scented hair

Off topic (?) but I feel like he prefers woody, maybe minty and clean fragrances. I think he’d enjoy re-aranging both your shower items (shampoo, conditioner, body wash etc. ) to smell like each other , whether it be subtle or smelling the exact same. For example i really like fruity berries, so he’d probably adopt a woody-grapefruit fragrance, if you like vanilla, he’d adopt a bourbon vanilla scent. I dunno anything about mens fragrances. "What did you even ate before you threw up?" He growled while drying the kid who was sniffing for both being sick and crying out earlier about his father taking him out of the water.

"Just some sliced apples... and a chocolate bar uncle Rappa gave me-"

"WHAT?!" He accidentally yelled, immediately feeling like a dick for making his son flinch from the sound..

Kaito's (E/c) looked up to his father and nodded, more calm than earlier as Kai sighed... The kid wasn't dumb, he knew when his father was out of patient or just tired... he could even sense it when the yakuza leader was down in the dumb.

Call it whatever you want. But the kid swore it was a talent that only him and his mother could have. The ability to understand Chisaki Kai.

Apparently sensing your gaze on him he just stayed with his arms crossed over his chest before sighing.

Ah... so that was it.

He was worried. Worried that his son would only get worse on his health, worried that Kaito would be sick like this all of time.

Kai wouldn't ever say that out loud.. he would never express it with words that he was worried or cared for either Kaito or you... his actions though, express it louder how much he actually cared. You rise out of your seat carefully, sure not to make too much noise because Kendou becomes a little mean and cold whenever he gets agitated and pissed off. You would tease him usually, but he seems unusually mad. Whenever he notices that you’re approaching him, Kendou’s shoulders sag a little and he meets you halfway. He exhales, but there’s no emotion behind it, and he clasps his hands. 

“Sorry. It’s nothing that you did. I was just tryna do what Overhaul said, but I got duped.” 

You tilt your head, reaching out and placing a gentle hand on Kendou’s forehead. 

“What happened?” 

Finally, Kendou sweeps his hands out in a grand gesture before he flings his body backwards, groaning the entire way down. His back connects to the bed that oh-so thankfully happened to be behind him, and the springs scream out in protest before his body bounces heavily a few times. He’s like jelly, and the sight of it makes your eyes bulge out of your head. Your mouth is open, ready to question him until— 

“It’s that damn new Overhaul’s girl. Everybody thinks she’s Quirkless, but I know the truth! It’s unbelievable the things I’ve seen.” 

Oh, this again. Kendou has ranted about Overhaul’s new sweet thing multiple times now. You’ve not had the pleasure to meet her personally, but you’re not really sure you want to. Apparently she’s managed to convince everyone pretty well… or perhaps Kendou’s just hallucinating. 

“Yes, you’ve mentioned her quite a bit lately. What did she do this time?” 

A strange mix between a strangle laugh and a choked sob reverberates in the back of his throat before he wails his answer out boisterously. 

“Those three blond boys again! She keeps summoning them! And she’s using them to slip past me to escape. The bathtub. The bathtub!” 

You blink. 

“Right, yeah. How could I forget the bathtub?” 

You shift your eyes because you’re not sure what response to supply, but Kendou just emits another strange sound and waves his hands around. 

“Forget the dame! I need some stress relief, babe.”

Kendou’s hands flop back down.

The way Kendou doesn’t ask lets you know that he’s serious, so you don’t even attempt to refute him. He’s impatient, so you’re not even going to have a chance to hop in the shower or anything, so you just wince slightly before you start to peel your clothes off. Kendou tilts his head up a little so that he can watch, and you make sure to wipe the wince off and give him a coy little smile before you teasingly remove your top. Your bra easily catches along, and both articles of clothing are on the floor before your thumbs hook underneath the band of your bottoms and you start to sashay your hips while you lower them down your thighs. They fall the rest of the way to your ankles, but you don’t stop twirling your hips the entire way. Boothill and Herta for the character asks?

BOOTHILL

SEXUALITY: the definitive demisexual. i think it would take a lot of work for him to trust someone enough to even try being awkwardly sexually intimate with them, much less casually. a lot of this can be seen through the way he distances himself from others beyond what’s necessary: even when it’s a party that’s being held by rappa, his friend, he still doesn’t join in until he’s pushed into it. on some level this is a practice in caution— and while it is that, i also see it as him not wanting to make too many bonds, lest losing them hurt as much as losing what he lost before. he was demisexual before his cyborgification, obviously, but his trauma caused this spectrum to grow ever so narrower.

GENDER: ooh this is one aspect of his character i’ve never considered before. there is something to be said in how despite everything, bh’s vehemently refuses to get a new, completely improved full robot body that can house his consciousness, instead opting to install parts into his original body instead— the body that lived on his original planet, the one that was a simple ranger, the one who raised, lost, and swore to avenge his daughter. this futile (and because he eventually will have no parts of his original body left, it is futile) need to cling to the only remaining reminder of what he used to be, and knows he can never return to plays a large part in his identity i think. now that you’ve gotten me to talk abt it, bh’s gender is just.. complicated and i am very unequipped to dissect it in a meaningful way :,3 but this is what i think abt it mostly.

A SHIP YOU LIKE WITH HIM: none, really. if i’m just shipping for fun and not considering any character implications then mayyyyyybe Guns N’ Roses (Argenhill)? they bounce off of eachother extremely well, and that dynamic could translate into romance… but ultimately i’d rather he’d get his affairs in order (aka kill oswaldo schneider), resolve his own problems, and then decide whether he even wants a romantic relationship or not.

BROTP: Rappahill is so cute you guys what the hell. with that being said, i don’t see them as a brother-sister dynamic, despite seeing them as a brotp. you’re fine in reading them that way though, i can definitely see it.

NOTP: Robinhill is not it sorry. aside from Robin’s lesbian coding being blatantly ignored, their shared distant nature would make the relationship awkward at best, and nonexistent at worst.

RANDOM HEADCANON: he used to be very good at weaving baskets! even though his fingers are far too blunt & sharp to work with weaving now, the muscle memory is still with him, and he sometimes makes the motion of weaving with things like worn fabric to relax.

OVERALL OPINION: i like his character quite a bit (as you can probably tell by the length of this thing lol. ironically, herta’s section will probably be shorter despite me liking her a lot more over him.), but he does suffer from hoyo’s style of storytelling where they just shove all of the character building in a dinky little corner of the profile section, therefore marking it as optional content for the average player. i appreciated them giving him some more characterization in 2.6, but i can’t help but think that it would’ve been far more impactful had we been allowed to learn about his story in a more natural way.

HERTA

SEXUALITY: certifiably acearo. no further deliberation needed on this.

GENDER: the pendulum swings heavily in the mystical & the feminine, bound both by her pursuit of knowledge and embrace of childhood; but its only sway is her presentation, the deeper nature of one’s identity never fully realized by its more thaumaturgical cover. but may that pendulum continue to sway, spin, twirl as though to say her esurient dance across the riddles of this universe is more foxtrot than waltz, and may she find the bottom of her whimsical little boots standing exactly where they have always wanted to be— as the questioner to the salvation of this world. …she’s been considering doll/witch pronouns recently.

A SHIP YOU LIKE WITH HER(TA): i’ve seen some people get into Hertamei or Screwherta for Herta- especially the former with the new promotional material we got recently- but i can’t really see any of them working out beyond being platonic. speaking of which…

BROTP: Screwherta is great. Screwllum & Herta are familiar with eachother in such a way that you buy their closeness even when he’s only been ‘present’ ingame like, twice. their banter with eachother within the various SUs do amazing character work for their dynamic(that hoyo conveniently stows away in a section that most players skip through) and i really hope that once he becomes playable, he synergises with her just as much. also!!!!! Hertalloyd. they’re fun. cmon guys. i want more Stephen Lloyd in the spotlight hoyo 

NOTP: i don’t think Herta interacts with enough people to have me make a NOTP for her. even with more niche ships like Hertawolf (Silverta???) or Herasta i can sorta see where they’re coming from to make them work, even when i personally don’t find them appealing. there’s none that really comes to mind as ‘a completely incompatible pairing’ to me.

RANDOM HEADCANON: i think she likes to count in prime numbers. or multiplicatives of 4. there’s no real aim for efficiency in it, just that her mind finds the action of counting like that very satisfying. she mostly does it in her head, but you can sometimes catch her doing it if she’s casually enumerating occurrences or something.

OVERALL OPINION: i like herta a lot, even before her recent character teasers revealed more about her personality beyond the puppets, and i find myself liking her even more after the fact. (ruan mei, consider your top 3 rights revoked!) i relate to her quite a bit, and while that has affected my feelings about her, she definitely earns this liking in spades through both her personality & ideals, even if i’d found her completely unrelatable. herta’s a very simple character at her core, but i think that’s exactly why she’s so well written— hoyo can stretch their creative hands with her without being afraid of having something fly over the average player’s head because they didn’t read the optional character story section, making her feel far more flexible in terms of where she could be, what she could do or say. herta is one of the only characters that benefits from hoyo’s spottier style of storytelling, and she’s great for it. <333

Honestly, I used to like them, but ever since Penacony ended, the Astral Express have been on thin fucking ice with me.

After pretty much not doing anything for all of Penacony but being treated like they did, Penacony ends with Himeko becoming a capitalist, suddenly revealing that we need to get magic fuel RIGHT NOW or we're all doomed, and having Black Swan temporarily join the Express to lead them to Amphoreus to get their fuel.

...the next update, we go to the Luofu. Black Swan has disappeared. Suddenly, the writers have decided that Trailblazer, March 7th, and Dan Heng were minors this whole time, and that means that Himeko is allowed to lecture them on how going to a festival they were invited to is more important than their home's impending doom. None of what follows seems to be important to the plot except for a twist reveal that seems to be more connected to what Himeko and Welt were doing. That you, as Trailblazer, wasn't allowed to be a part of. Because tHe aDulTs wouldn't let them come.

Outside of some small things (and, you know, this being blatant filler with bad timing), I actually did find the March event to be okay. Not amazing, but okay. But the Wardance with Luka... god... it was so horrible to watch Trailblazer being okay with the IPC npc and Topaz, and refusing to defend Luka from them, but defending him the moment it was Boothill... that event almost single handedly made me hate them. They copy Traveler in the worst ways.

And now, the return to Penacony is the last straw. We repeat the beginning of the last continuance, with Himeko being twice as infantilizing towards the now-minors by having her actively referring to herself and Welt as the grown-ups and forcing them to attend an academy while she and Welt do the 'boring grown up work'. Once again, Black Swan doesn't show up at all, and this time, there isn't even a mention of the extremely important plot point that was established in the last main quest. The only good thing about this quest so far is that Rappa and Reca are actually allowed to be weirdos.

By the time we get to Amphoreus in 3.0, which we could've done months ago instead of adding unnecessary map to Luofu and Penacony and forcing hsr into The Genshin Mold when it has done nothing but make the game worse, nobody will even remember what was supposed to be happening and the Express will be significantly worse characters.

(Man, remember when Himeko treated every member of the Express like their opinions were equal? You would think Mr. Gave A 16 Year Old He Just Met His Herrscher Powers would be against this, but unfortunately he's so ooc in hsr that he goes along with it. Oh yeah, and remember when Trailblazer being silly looked like a nice change of pace after Traveler and not a cover for them being a capitalist bootlicker?)

Far into the Luka Wardance quest!!

Boothill is literally the sweetest, I don't care how much he chooses to deny that 😭😭😭

Despite the rough exterior you can tell, like Argenti said, he has a good heart!

I love his interactions with Luka, idk if it's likely but I really need them to meet again, it's like he took Luka through the "School of hard knocks" to prepare him for the future!

I didn't get the special boss fight I wished for, but I'll take this! It gave me even more reasons why Boothill continues to be my favourite character!

And I love how Luka progressed too, it's just so [forking] sweet and he deserves all the wins in the galaxy 😭😭😭

Also, did my darling Boothill just mention le Rappa??? referring to her as "friend"?? Perhaps some galaxy rangers aren't too distant after all! (Also in the same line my man says "Dog my Wubbaboos" 🤣🤣)

EDIT: theory, after the "boss fight", Boothill proceeds to shoot and end the fight with the six bullets like he said he would, the newspaper even said that since the skill gap was too huge, it was an insanely short and one-sided brawl!

So what was Luka fighting??? During Topaz's fight, he definitely fought her and won but that's because the hallucinations weren't that bad yet, but here you have a galaxy ranger who has seen things, plays by his own rules and is a notorious criminal who even the IPC can't catch yet, you'd be insane to even think about challenging such a person!!! So much so that Luka's inner thoughts were screaming at him to [forking] run!!!

So that wasn't Luka fighting Boothill, that was Luka's inner voice fighting the idea of fighting Boothill!!! And maybe the hallucinations got so bad at that point that it even trapped us in the illusion that we were fighting him, when in reality, the battle was already over! The inner voice ultimately lost but Luka grew from this fight as a person thanks to Mr Tail's help and Argenti's trademark moral boosts!!

Also, I fully believe if the Trailblazer was the one to fight him, we'd definitely win! I know it, you know it, he knows it!

Rappa should have joined the League of Villains

Something that was such a missed chance was that Rappa was such a natural fit for the League of Villains that it isn't funny.

Think about it!

For one, he shares their mutual dislike of Overhaul so already there's common ground for the other League and him to get along.

Two, he offers them something they never really lacked and that is 'reasonable close combat power' + likeability. Muscular had the baggage of murdering Kota's parents, and his Pump Up was way too strong to have in the story for too long as a reoccurring threat. Rappa cuts out the established character killing aspect and adds in a layer of honor in just wanting a fair fight. It would've meshed well with the current League being more humanized the more we got to know of them. Plus, in general, himbo that wants a good fight and is generally chill otherwise hits better than 'jerk jock that slaughters anyone for lolz'.

Three, class dynamics!! He would fit in, so, so, so easily as Kirishima's Villain that it HURTS they never saw each other again, even after Rappa claimed to want another shot (seriously what the fuck happened to the rest of the yakuza?!!) He and Kirishima could be like a good indicator of how far Red Riot has come since they last fought and give Rappa the dream match he desires (just, without the death aspect to it XD) Plus, thanks to Vigilantes, he has another dynamic with Mirko that could have easily lend itself to him having a fairer shot reforming in the epilogues.

Four, he could offer a nice look with the MLA/PLF concerning Quirk rights and syncs well with the League's reason for villainy. Rappa became a villain due to overbearing parents controlling his life, which can mirror both Toga and Shiggy's own parentage that affected them to become villains too. He can sympathize with both pretty easily and potentially could have been like another brother to them. On the MLA aspect, given that their whole deal is basically getting unrestricted Quirk access, and Rappa would know from experience the fighting rings he participated in they were created out of need to see some Quirk using fights without the law butting in. So he's probably agree/sympathetic to those who want to just cut loose....but also see if him 'testing' out said MLA soldiers to see how far that desire to rampage goes. Plus, he probably prefers a lax, casual way of getting to his dream rather than, at least initially, the MLA's stuffy, corprorate controlled hierarchy.

Five, I'll be honest, it's just nice to have someone from the Shie Hassaikai stick around as a main stay. I will forever be salty that, aside from a misused Overhaul, NO ONE ELSE was brought back for even the Second War. Whyyyyyy?!! Rappa at least allows them rep to still be in the story and actively doing stuff. (If it were up to me, I'd also allow Chronostasis to slip away to do his own thing, but that's just me XD)

But yeah, this is just me craving something that never happened, but I wish it did so much. Rappa would have been so good to have on-board that it hurts he was just left as a one-shot villain ;_;
