i haven’t fully been on here in so long yall let’s do a mini life update soooo i got my first girlfriend and it was great but then her mom kicked her out and she moved in with my family then we saved up and moved out together (i dropped out of school too to make more money, bad idea) and basically as soon as we moved in together shit started going south and i broke up with her at exactly 10 months bc i kept telling her i felt she didn’t love me and wasn’t putting effort in and i kept telling her that if she wants me to keep fighting to just say the word (she never did, every conversation was a blank stare from her and me begging pleading for anything) so now i live w my mom brother and grandpa and we’re looking for a new place to live before my grandpas lease is up bc the landlord is selling the house 😍 im only a little traumatized

I was gushing about Genesis' design the other day and decided to transplant the whole rant over here because I love how Genesis' whole design makes no pretense about him doing things specifically to make himself look taller, but also more delicate—because he has an aesthetic that he's determined to maintain, but it's a ruse. The whole thing is a ruse. Genesis knows what he looks like, particularly what he looks like compared to the people around him, and he works with it in such a fantastic way it makes me feral.

It's so obvious from an artistic and fashion design perspective that he's trying to give himself a more masculine shape while also trying to look unintimidating in that shape, like he's petite when he's absolutely not—which makes perfect sense when paired with the fact that he's a mage and when he uses a sword it's in very close-quarters combat compared to his peers.

Genesis is trying to look like the least intimidating of the Firsts because it means opponents are more likely to underestimate him and let him get too close, only to realize that he's like 6'3" and can throw a freight truck.

Take the cut of his coat, the way he wears his belt a little low—like he's trying to look taller, but also like he wants you to think that his legs maybe aren't quite that long, like his waist is wider than it is, but his shoulders are narrower. Like his frame is more average, like he lacks the physical capacity to do too much damage compared to his similarly ranked colleagues.

His clothing makes him look less svelte; he doesn't want people to catch that he can be on you in four steps because he's long-legged and limber as fuck. His pauldrons are set low on his jacket, as if he wants them to look slightly too big. Genesis' shoulders and chest are actually pretty broad for his frame, his legs and arms are long and well toned, but he dresses and carries himself in a way that makes it difficult to tell unless you're really looking.

Most opponents won't parse Genesis' build correctly, they won't realize that he's got some beastly upper body strength until he's on them far too quickly and he's grabbed them by the face—and since when were his arms so long?—and flung them across the battlefield.

At a distance, or alongside Sephiroth or Angeal, Genesis doesn't just look delicate, he looks fragile. He looks like you can snap him in half. On his own, though, up close? You're fucked.

For the unpopular opinion meme, positive edition, can you touch on Forces and Infinite in particular?

Ooooooh okay okay

So starting with Infinite himself, I gotta start with the immediate stuff. His design is cool, his powers are sick, his themes (the vocal track and boss battle themes) make me insane, his English voice is 👌👌

And difficulty aside, the choice of his powers/attacks are actually pretty cool in my opinion. It's pretty wild the way he can change the stage around the player both from a gameplay standpoint and from an in universe standpoint. The fact that his illusions can even affect the environment and deliver physical consequences to those caught in them or attacked by them is something that (from an in universe standpoint) has the potential to really impact and mess with anyone caught up in them during Forces' story. It's a really fun concept to play with, especially if you take it a step further and indlict it on some of our main characters (i.e give them the struggle to determine what exactly is real at this point, even after the events of the story)

With his character too, the different accounts from the game, episode shadow, and the comic prequel make for a fun bout of crafting an interpretation of Infinite as well (no sarcasm here! I actually had a lot of fun drawing all his threads together in my mind and coming up with a reason he's the way he is)

And speaking of the way Infinite is, I can't understate how interested I got in his character just with the simple fact that he doesn't seem driven by his own goals in the base game of Forces

(One of these days I've got to write that essay of him that's part character study/interpretation part extrapolation)

As for the game itself, I actually really like the concepts the game throws at you to start with

"Killing" Sonic off really early, showing tangible changes in the landscape (especially with the desertification of green hill), other characters dealing with Sonic being gone, Tails completely splitting on his own parallel journey to the player, the player character starting out as some nobody Infinite happened to spare, Eggman just taking almost the entire world over after Sonic is removed from the picture, Classic Sonic just showing up because he happened to be with the Phantom Ruby as it began to shift through time and space. There were a lot of initial choices like that that were very interesting to me or surprised me, but compelled me nevertheless.
