But nevermind that, loveeed making this loooved thinking about it looved the torment it put me through thinking of how on earth itll go when/if Papyrus ever remembers who he used to beee :3

In the beginning- I remember seeing at least 2 drawings of Sans and Alphys sleeping while Wingdings is wide awake. I wanted to make a little somethin different and play with that. His eyes also being closed is supposed to communicate a sort of happy moment where they’re finally all on the same page. It also makes it more “hehe that TECHNICALLY could still be papyrus ☝️” its not.

The reason behind that shot though is I that I feel like good memories would make it harder for Papyrus to disconnect entirely from that part of his life. There were SOME GOOD THINGS and its just like…ugh. Its hard to put this part into words, but you get me. ITS VISUALIZED THERE AND THATS ALL YOURE GONNA GET OUT OF ME

(I tried really hard to work Flowey somewhere in this, but that never worked in the end- so whoopsies to all the Flowey fan club members)

The hands holding the star, then having a butterfly coming out- I’m actually obsessed with that shot cause theres a lot of things I can say about it.

Its intended to be ambiguous on exactly who’s hands they are cause the type of holes in them are just scribbles-

But thats just because transitioning between Gaster and Papyrus’ hands looks bad and also skeleton hands are really hard- SO!!! its an in-between thing. Its supposed to go from Gaster being obsessed with the star, GRABBIN IT, then a butterfly comes out of Papyrus’ hands. We’re comparing and contrasting the difference between how they handled their own traumas, and their view on life as a whole.

Again, im assuming a lot about Gaster in this cause we still don’t know how he’s gonna be characterized in this comic, but in this animation we’re gonna say he deals with life and his trauma by obsession and all that jazz, while Papyrus makes something new with it.

The fact that they’re trying to trap something in their hands WHICH HAVE HOLES IN THEM is also a part of this meaning. I feel something that has remained true for Wingdings, Papyrus, and supposedly Gaster, is they persevere despite any circumstances. Of course they don’t go in without thinking, but when they want something they are GOING to get it no matter how ridiculous or impossible their chances of success are.

Okay, since some of you might be new here or haven't read the fanfic this blog is based off of, I'll give you a rundown of where everyone's at in the timeline. This AU takes place BEFORE Undertale, so it's both an AU and a prequel.

I'm currently writing Chapter 22 (AKA the ketchup chapter). Sans will be introduced to ketchup in this chapter, hehe.

So here we go.

Papyrus and Undyne have met and are building their relationship (they met in Chapter 15). Papyrus is in this stage where he wants to please her, and Undyne has mixed thoughts on him at the moment. There's a little arc going on where they become closer friends.

That said, Sans and Papyrus are sentries and work together now. Sans hasn't gotten his extra stations yet. Sans is still doing his hotdog stand and stand up comedy (he started comedy in Chapter 10/11).

Sans and Alphys are friends (they met in Chapter 9). Mettaton has recently been made. He's taking television by storm, but the MTT Resort is still the Hotland Memorial Resort. The change will come later.

The resets don't exist yet, Flowey doesn't exist yet, Frisk is still on the surface. Sans will discover the resets at some point, but that's quite a way away.

Undyne and Alphys have NOT met yet. The amalgamates DON'T exist yet. Alphys just recently became the Royal Scientist (chapter 18). Undyne and Alphys don't meet until AFTER the DT experiments. And unfortunately, the DT experiments won't be for a while.

Ok so, story time...

This may seem as a bit of a shock, but i really like ts!underswap.... In fact, the first character I ever made was Crossbones!! THEN Chara, then... Everyone else... So I really wanted to make something for it, as a thanks, it's a really good game!!

I also love Captain Underpants and they sort of fit together, so.... Yeah.

This is my first attempt at a music video, so there's quite a few mistakes :'), but I'm actually kinda proud of myself!!

What does Maali's crew do in their free time/break time?

I know this probably isn't all that important except being background characters that's connected to certain characters (like Shiori's guards).

Oh! And also, what undertale characters would be liked for you characters? (Just for fun, with undertale being a video game).

For some reason I thought of this during school and it's been a recurring thought since then..😅

Little did you know, Maali and his crew, alongside Shiori's guards, matter more to the story than they seem. An example might be when I mention a character for a chapter or two but they are actually important in what the future events hold. 🤭🙂‍↕️

Now for the Maali's crew! (Their names will be revealed later) they are a couple of rascals in their free time. Up in their term of heaven, they enjoyed eating, drinking, making fun of their leader's taste in partners, and playing games of all sorts before needing to head to the battlefields for clean up.

But, ever since they got temporarily banished from heaven for a while and learned all those great things do not come for free, they are now learning basic manners and making discoveries of nature far too late in their age. Poor Macaque, he feels like he is surrounded by grown toddlers!

He can't make fun of them because they genuinely cannot catch a joke and take it too literally. They are immune to his sarcasm. 😔

But the crew aren't the worst type of celestials, they have good moral ethics and mean no harm. It's their leader, Maali, who is the biggest idiot out of all of them and Macaque feels like he will pop a vessel at how restless Maali is. Which is probably soon due to what will happen in the future...

Now, for which characters will be undertale-based... hmm. Gosh, that’s so difficult. I would love to hear anyone else’s suggestions based on it!

For the ask’s sake, I would say the following:

Mystic Monkey Form (or the scroll’s curse): Chara

Lady Bone Demon: Flowey

Papyrus: Maybe Mei???

Asriel: No one knows who I am besides Frisk and Papyrus. Papyrus surprisingly took it pretty well. He still treats me the same and never told anyone, which is rare if we’re talking secrets with him. But I know not everyone is the same.

They’ll make a big fuss, try to get me back, ask everything and I’ll have to lie about all I did as a flower which is a secret that will weigh on me forever because I know they’d hate me and their hopes would be crushed so I’ll have to lie and then they’ll want me to be the prince of the underground again with all the responsibility of being the “hope for all monsters” put back on my shoulders but I don’t know how to help them any better than dad.

I’ve had this evil, horrible plan to use frisk on their perfect runs to become a god. I was going to take everyone’s souls plus the human souls, getting them from Asgore through Frisk and then torture them for eternity and reshape the world how I want it. I couldn’t do that now. Even if I don’t hurt Frisk and I use that power to break the barrier, won’t everyone still hate me for tricking them and manipulating their souls like that?

Or I could stay here, at the flower bed, hiding my face for however much longer. I don’t know what to do. It feels nice to build this new perfect life, but it’s fake, isn’t it? I’m not Flowey. You aren’t my real family. But I want it so bad. I love it here, but I shouldn’t.

I don't know. I should go back into reality. How do even I do that? I don't know how to reintroduce myself, and I don't want leave you all behind but it feels like I'm betraying my real family if I keep replacing them. I know what that feels like. And I'm sorry.

Oh this is terribly difficult! I love so many Undertale characters for so many different reasons…

I think. I can’t pick a favorite 😭

Asgore has a wonderful amount of angst and horribleness; I wish the fandom would dissect his depression and suicidality a bit more. I love looking at how he was pushed to his limit as a coward, and how he’s struggled.

Sans is, of course, the top tier of shipping. I enjoy writing him moving on and falling in love, and he’s one of my favorites.

Papyrus is my man!!!! I love him and love analyzing him. I think the fandom has done him dirty; my autistic love. I relate most strongly to him and would like to have more about him!

Flowey is SO TRAGIC and I love fanfictions that center on his growth — or lack thereof. Is that a flower pun? Hehe.

Frisk is a blank slate character, which is beautiful. I love what can be done with them.

Chara is very much NOT a blank slate, but the fandom treats them as such. I cannot wait to do more with them in my fanfiction; they’re in so so much tremendous pain…

That’s just off the top of my head. I love Alphys and Undyne and Mettaton and Toriel, of course, but I’m not as connected to those characters.

With Deltarune, I’ve only played the first chapter… I love Kris and Susie and Lancer… I’m not as big of a Ralsei fan but that’s due to a lack of depth in chapter 1. I LOVE Seam, or was it Sheam? Or however his name is spelled.

I am just not as closely tied into Deltarune 🫧

oh boddy I've BEEN an Undertale fan. I was DEEP in the Undertale multiverse ,, like obseeessed with all that. Dream Sans was always my favorite, Swap in close second. The first and only ever roleplay I've been in to completion was an Undertale roleplay. My favorite OC is an Undertale OC. I have a sans undertale body pillow that I have on the side of my bed to stare at and wonder how it got there. Sans, Frisk, Chara, Flowey, constipated sans. I have TWO PAPYRUS PLUSHIES. My fridge is DECKED OUT in Undertale stickers. It took me 3 months to beat Sans in genocide (´；ω；`) the FIRST EVER FIC i posted on ao3 was an undertale fic. not that you'd find it since i orphaned it but good riddance cus my writing in like 2021 was horrendous

i think frisk hasn't ever had an actual birthday before falling. like their former parent(s) never actually did anything for them, so when the monsters actually throw a party for them, a very small one mind you, they don't know how to respond. like they're experiencing an emotion they've never felt before that they just kinda go on autopilot. (september 9 virgo) (shares w chara and kris hehe)

alphys HATES her birthday, and purposefully tries to forget it. she can't stand people making a day all about her even after coming to terms w everything. but she's made the horrible mistake of telling people that love her WHEN she was born. she can not avoid it. undyne knows she doesn't like people making a big deal outta it, and will spend the whole day watching movies with her :] (september 18th virgo)

undyne has always shared her birthday (she's a twin to me, argue w the wall) so she's a little indifferent to her own, but she'll go all out for other peoples. i think she's planning a whole big thing for alphys' 30th, and has promised pap that she'll take him out drinking for his 21st, even though he DOES NOT want that lmao. for herself though? she's fine just being surrounded by her friends and family. (august 1st leo) (duh.)

i don't think papyrus would care too much about his birthday. i know, it seems like he would, but looking deeper into it, i kinda think he doesn't care at best, and accidently forgets it at worst. think he's more of a gyftmas guy, because he's not the only one getting presents! everyone gets to be happy! not just him! he seems like he'd be more found of giving gifts then receiving them, just based on the fact that the whole reason WHY he makes spaghetti is because he thinks other people like it. like that's adorable. he just wants other people to be happy!! maybe he uses his birthday as an excuse to do more things for people. feel like he'd do sth like that. (january 11th capricorn)

sans doesn't tell people his birthday. he's very much in the same boat as al, where he doesn't like his birthday, but he purposefully holds off telling people. i don't even think pap knows his birthday. like it's too much of an effort to thank people and be happy for one day so he just acts like that day doesn't exist. everyone does force it out of him tho lol. (may 24th gemini)

flowey's birthday is super bittersweet. it reminds him of chara and his parents, and how great everything used to be, and that's the problem. he no longer feels like himself and has forced himself into this shell, that he can no longer see anything positive in it. i think he does tell frisk his birthday though, and they bring him a little cake they made out of fertilizer. he's only mildly insulted. (april 10th aries)

and tori and asgore haven't celebrated their birthdays in so long they forgot them. frisk makes up a new one for tori. (may 10th taurus) asgore gets nothing. sorry buddy.

oh and noelle's birthday is november 2nd (scorpio) and susie's is july 13th (cancer)

So! Let's start with basics...

This is the "MONSTER valley", a valley created by the once active volcano, Mt Ebott. Monster's call the mountain Sunpeak cuz at high noon the sun sits ontop of it.

The general layout of the "Underground" is changed since it's above ground (it's like but also not like overtale), so snowdin is a lot closer to new home than waterfall (around a two hour walk from snowdin to hotlands). Now, I know what you're thinking "WHERE'S WATERFALL?!?!???" chillax broski

it's the ✨️river✨️

But since the name doesn't make sense anymore there's uhh like, a big waterfall somewhere along the way to hotlands? I haven't placed it yet.

The core basically half revived the unactive volcano and turned it into a power source for monsters AND the barrier.

Barrier?! Wha‽ That's right, there's a migical barrier that an unknown scientist made to protect the monsters from human hunters ever since the war.

What war? THE GREAT HUMAN MONSTER WAR. "Where the angel fell from the sky and lead monsters to the safety of the valley." More like: before they were sealed underground an unknown monster transported them all to the valley.

The barrier essencially just turns humans around so they can't enter the valley, but since it's spread over such a wide area there's a few weak spots. Mainly around the ruins and new home. This reason is why the royal guard was founded: to kill any humans within the valley.

It wasn't until the death of the royal's children did the guard be put into practice and start collecting souls. The reason got collecting souls is so the king can absorb them all and become god (rip the human race ✌️😔)

No, flowey is not a rose, he's a poppy. Poppy's are usually considered weeds except in places like australia //me home :)// where they hold a cultural significance. They say poppies used to be white until the blood of soldiers forever stained them red. (Wink wink nudge nudge 😏)

Red poppies were usually only found in the ruins but have since spread along the river in a mass bloom. It's a crime to disturb them, a law that was founded by the Queen before she went missing. Monster's generally think it's stupid but the king upholds that law so they follow begrudgingly.

Papyrus is a little more snarky, but pokes fun at people within reason. He's also ACTUALLY in the royal guard due to his strength and not training to be in it. Also, I thought it would be funny is sans gave more "literally just a guy" energy

lots of new luna (undertale insert) lore i came up with on my 2 hour drive homeeee:

- the snowdin shopkeeper is her mom! so the innkeeper is her aunt and the little rabbit is her nephew/niece! so she has a lot of connections in the town and most residents know her well!

(them if you haven’t played ut!! and if not….go play rn….)

-the dreemurs babysat her a few times when she was very young whenever her own mother was very busy. before their separation the dreemurs were often involved with the community, visiting shops and interacting with the residents of the different areas

-she would play with asriel too! asriel was kind of like an older sibling to her (which is funny bc later on flowey is like her little sibling) i generally believe undertale takes place 20-ish years post chara so luna meets the dreemurs during that time when she’s about 5-7 years old! she also meets chara who she ends up liking a lot which makes asriel slightly jealous. so they kinda compete to be the better older sibling to her lol. in a lighthearted way though, they’re all friends and their death takes a toll on luna even though she was very young when it happens

- she’s known sans since she was a kid as well! they met when he and papyrus moved in to snowdin and she’s always been super friendly towards them. she gets along well with a younger papyrus and he’s been quite attached to her ever since (it may not be practical to canon but my hc is he’s 8 years old when they move with sans and luna being around 14-16)

- sans is really shy around her when they first meet. for a while he does try to avoid her bc he thinks she’s cute and also annoying (hehe). but she never really stops trying to become the two skeletons friend (maybe because of the void left by chara and asriel who knows….) well eventually they become very good friends and basically grow up together. but they still hide things from each other and it isn’t until frisk comes along do they truly learn to open up and realize their feelings (maybe frisk and papyrus play matchmaker idk but that would be super cute..)
