I'm convinced mumbo is doing a Lore (tm) with his magic mountain row and I'm also a really big fan of the planets/realms that make up the seasons having a pre-existing history to them (along the same lines as like Doc uncovering the prophecies in mural form in the Perimeter last season)

It kinda starts with Big Ron. I'm a really big enjoyer of the fan theory that Big Ron owns the predecessor/perhaps original Grumbot (that features in the promo for the merch store) The guy Mumbo plays in that ad spot to me isn't cMumbo himself, but is Ron, someone's who's lived on the mountain prior to the arrival of the hermits in-universe. I'm gonna come back to this

Then there's the lab. The poster Mumbo designed and showed at around 5:00 in this video was another sort of thing that spurred the idea around Jimmy, specifically the parts about human trials, preservation and the bit at the end about "soon we will be living forever." The emphasis he puts on the build about the lab spilling toxic waste onto the farmland below already tells me that these dudes are into some shady business practice, like vibes alone. I doubt they're following any sort of scientific moral code.

Then Jimmy. I'm still sort of waffling about on how he exists in the history of this universe but ultimately, him and Lizzie were both already here, maybe deities, maybe just well respected people (side note: I have a concept about Lizzie being goddess who raised Magic Mountain from the sea, hence why she's revered in the city where Joel lives but that's a whole nother post I'm not near knowledgeable enough to elaborate on just yet). Seablings? Seablings. Most important part is that Jimmy lived on Magic Mountain Row or somewhere on/in the mountain, canary already somewhat apart of him

Back to Big Ron. Like, for a guy who- focuses so much on outdated tech I find it super interesting that he has artificial intelligence, which. ok either he worked for the lab or invented proto-grumbot himself, and maybe shared that tech with the lab people. (next side note: I've seen the namemc spoilers from this morning I'm gonna assume that's lab guy Mumbo has made a skin for but for the sake of its not existent in videos yet I won't be commenting on it ok i digress back to Jimmy)

Let's say the these shady scientists are at a standstill in their process. They've got the archival tech down, but this immortality thing is hard to crack. So what do they turn to? Probably the magical being living in the town. Under the cover of night, the canary is captured. He's forced into some test tubes, feathers plucked, experimented on for who knows how long and they break him. But they get closer, and the end justifies the means. There could be others as well, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if others get looped into the mix

And then, at some point the authorities find out and these experiments are condemned. The Lab is condemned and the scientists are ordered to release the test subjects, and most of them are, but not Jimmy. He's too important. They need him kept somewhere safe to come back to. Working with Ron, and proto-Grumbot, they trap him inside a soul lantern, and in a "say anything and you're dead" kind of deal with the Boulder Bros (maybe the owners of the iron and gold mines) Jimmy's immortal soul is bound to be stuck forever in the iron mine, silenced from singing for his sister's help.

Years later, cMumbo arrives. I like playin around with the idea of it being like a Stardew-esque thing where Mumbo is either returning to a town and Ron is related to him somehow, and while living at that little house at the top, is working for Ron and running errands for the other shops, including stocking the iron shops at the mines that the shopping district developed around. But Ron gives him one clear instruction- stay in the light. Don't go past the stationary minecart at the edge of the darkness.

Mumbo for all that he is, heeds Ron's warning for the longest time. But like anyone curiosity starts to get the better of him. He can never tell if he's hearing things, but once in a while between the sounds of conveyor belts, and iron drills he starts to hear whispering. A faint whistle coming from the darkness beckoning him closer, to peek into what lies beyond. Talking to Jill and Bob at the oddities shop, he's able to sneak and convince a little story out of them, and after some hesitation sell him a magic soul torch, with the warning not to let anyone else see it.

On a restock run, he takes it with him secretly. And once his job is done, he makes his way deeper into the mine until he happens upon a soul lantern- a slight blue glow coming from within- sitting on a stone pedestal. Everything is telling him to turn back, that this is an awful idea. But, stupid ideas have always been his thing, and he opens the lantern, and lights it with the torch from Jill.

Pants.

The fire inside spurs to life in a roar, and he panics, dropping the soul torch at his feet, still burning a bright cyan. As he turns to run out, the canary song he hears bits of rings with a power he's never heard before and a flurry of yellow feathers fills the cavern. He makes it back into the light, frantically picking up the shulkers and stumbles into the mine elevator. He slams at the buttons as the bird calls reverb and howls through the mine, now more desperate than ever to get out. No amount of force on the carriage work, as every component of the mine machinery has hissed to a halt, acting as if possessed by something that doesn't want him to escape.

Something that needs him to understand what he's just released.

As he begins to falter dropping his head to his chest, the canary song fades into the already eerie silence, and soon all Mumbo can hear is the weight of his breathing, and the sound of his heart pounding through his ribcage. Biting at his thoughts, he shakily uses his free hand to shuffle himself back around to face the mine entrance.

The door of the lantern at the front creaks open, releasing a small bit of smoke out towards the minecart. From the darkness, a wisp of blue smoke pierces through the veil to meet the other trail of smoke. Mumbo sees a faint golden glow appear, only to realize its wings. As they come more into view, Mumbo's redstone stained eyes are met by deep brown ones that reflect the gold of their wings as a face appears in the shadows, followed by the rest of them, dressed in tattered and coal dust stained clothes. He holds out the soul lantern in his calloused right hand. The fear in the person's eyes look him down almost as if he recognizes him.

Mumbo doesn't dare speak.

And neither does the canary.

I had to back out of the notes of that post I was getting too worked up over a bad take lol. Dick is a *whole ass man* he *should* be taking care of the emotional needs of a ten year old and he just didn't. Like I'm sorry your salty over your eldest child syndrome but having a shite parent isn't the kid's fault. What did they want Damian to do for Dick? Die protecting him? HE DID.

(Also Tim making himself responsible for *a grown ass man* at 13 years old was a *bad thing*.)

I dont feel comfortable talking about other people's personal traumas if I don't know them/what they're OK with (hence why i didn't mention them in my RB) but like (keeping this comic related). I do think its pretty clear that Dick was not a real person who was responsible for his younger siblings as a child and then had to raise them. He was at least 25 when he met Damian. he had helped train tim, run the teen titans, run the outsiders, saved the world multiple times, briefly helped train rose, volunteered to teach kids gymnastics... he was not an inexperienced 18 year old who had not had any similar challenge before. his peers had children they were raising as well at this time (Roy, Wally).

I also think Tim stans way overstate how responsible Tim was for Bruce. like. his existence helped bruce get his head on straight at a very difficult time. Tim clearly cared a lot about thim. Then his entire Robin run was pretty much not about that. He was doing regular teenager stuff and having adventures on his own! Bro was not Bruce's therapy dog! Lonely place of dying was the intro Tim comic but it was not the only Tim comic.

ok so im on a call with @opossumofanxiety right its 9:45 pm on a friday night we're both loopy as shit from getting trash sleep i decide on a whim to have a small glass of milk nothing more, just a small 8oz glass of 2% milk he starts laughing when i show him the glass i start laughing too, wtf why is a glass of milk funny? i slam the glass, and said verbally something along the lines of "boom, slammed" as i set the glass down loudly it reminds me of an animated skit of MBMBAM called "hog wild", hence "slam some za" so for the time being, "za" now refers to milk. i get a big glass (16oz) and fill it with "za" theres still a little bit left in the jug, so i drink half of the glass while hes gone and pour the rest in commence the giggle fits i lift the glass up to show him he starts laughing his ass off i start laughing too... why is a glass of milk so goddamn funny?? i keep going to drink it but then we both start laughing again this continues for around 5 minutes. i set the glass down to try and calm down we talk about random shit and i glance at the glass queue more laughing 5 minutes later i go to drink it he almost laughs but i try my best to keep my composure i MIRACULOUSLY manage to slam the whole glass loudly put it down on the counter and say "NOW THATS WHAT YOU CALL SLAMMING ZA" my life is a fucking joke. it is now 10:15 pm by the time this posts... i dont know if ill sleep or not, but theres no more milk in the house thanks to my tomfoolery. thankfully im the only one who ever drinks / uses the milk so its fine ig? goodnight tumblr

Being mixed is honestly an experience I find hard to talk about, but I’m feeling some type of way so I’m going to try and talk about it now. Sorry if this isn’t the content some of y’all want to see, but it is my blog (and also I have a #personal tag if y’all wanna blacklist)

My father is black and my mother is white.

When someone asks me which “side” I identify with more, my entire brain literally has a tug of war contest. (Btw don’t ask mixed kids this, it’s isn’t funny). On the one hand, I would say white. My father was an only child and he never saw his extended family often, ergo I never saw his extended family pretty much at all. The only family I saw often was on my mother’s side, all of whom were white. I also don’t see them often anymore, but that’s because my parents moved the family from New Jersey all the way to Georgia when I was young, not because I never knew them. In Georgia, I grew up in a small, conservative, not-very-diverse town. Every friend group I’ve ever had was all white except for me (there was one girl in one group who was Mexican but that’s it). I was more influenced culturally and socially by my mother. My dad is a very “manly man” and I used to be super girly, so that’s why most of my social upbringing was from my mother who was also into girly things. My mom even had to help me with my hair. She definitely did not do 100% on that front but I give her an A for effort. And before anyone asks, yes, we could have gone to my dad’s mother - my grandmother - for help, and we did once, but she wasn’t really helpful (and that’s a whole nother story lol) and I’m not very close with her anyway. I grew up one the blandest most boring chicken, frozen veggies, and instant rice dinners known to man. I still eat those now when I come home from college. My own cooking skills are solidly in the yt people column. So basically, culturally I feel like a white person. My answer to the question above might have been “white.”

However, everything is always more complicated than that. Everyone around me saw me as black. And there was definitely that undercurrent of “you’re not one of them, you’re a cool black person” but I was still clearly in the “black” category. I used to get looks from my friends when I mentioned that I had a crush on a white dude because they subconsciously expected me to date within my race. (I should mention that these friends - the ones I keep in contact with at least - have grown and expanded their beliefs and are no longer like this) And when I looked in the mirror, I saw black. I looked at my tan skin, and my bushy eyebrows, and my thick kinky-curly hair and I saw a black girl. (And honestly I used to have a lot of internal anti blackness and tried to make myself fit Eurocentric beauty standards by getting my hair treated and straightened, but at the end of the day I still considered myself black). I still look in the mirror and see a black girl, but now I’m finally comfortable with embracing that identity.

So I had this issue where i was seen as black by myself and others, but culturally I was raised very white.

It’s such a hard line to balance. Truthfully, I’m almost 50/50 down the middle when it comes to the genetics I got from my parents. My mom is super pale, my dad is pretty dark, and I’m like.. caramel. Or like, mocha? Idk I’ve never really been into using food to reference skin color. I have features from both of their faces and my hair has my fathers texture (hence the kinky curly) but my mother’s coloring (brown with some red occasionally thrown in for fun). I’m also 100% uniquely myself. But in a society where everything and everyone has a label, idk what to do with that.

Like I said before, my white friends see me as black. All white people I come into contact with see me as black. Yes, it’s sometimes the whole “oh but you’re not like other black people” that I know comes from the lightness of my skin, which I believe is a form of colorism?(I’m sorry if I did not use that term correctly) But, picking one or the other, to them I am black.

Black people tend to see me as white. This makes sense on the basis of my cultural upbringing, but not knowing AAVE well and the different social cues just makes it harder for me to connect with black folks and engage with the culture that’s in my blood.

In an attempt to feel connected to my dads side of the family and my blackness, I got into hoodoo and ancestral veneration.

It’s still really hard though. The only family members I could talk to about hoodoo and folk traditions and such would be my dad or my grandmother. Both of them are verryyy Christian (and like I said before, I don’t have a good relationship with my grams anyway, nor do I have a good relationship with Christianity. Hello, queer here!!). But honestly, that’s how I feel about magic traditions in general. I live on stolen land. My ancestors from one side of the family were kidnapped and forced to work said stolen land (though after the civil war ended I know of an ancestor who kicked ass and owned his own farm. He’s a real g). My ancestors from the other side of the family were either immigrants that came to America in hope of a better life or slave owners. Yikes.

I feel untethered from any culture, socially and spiritually. I thought about looking into italian and Irish witchcraft, since those are the strongest lineages on my white family’s side, but I got discouraged before I even started. I’ve never been to Ireland or Italy. I don’t know either language, I barely know of any meals from those countries. Who was I kidding? And then of course I don’t know any ancestry past the end of the civil war on my black side, because they were torn from their homeland. I still feel that urge to learn about hoodoo, which was specifically created in the americas, but it’s such an intimate practice with emphasis on the handing down of knowledge, and I don’t have anyone to do that for me. I want to connect to the local land, but then I think.. it’s not my homeland. It was the homeland of indigenous peoples and my country stole it from them. Would the land even be willing to work with me? Top this all off with having no “extra” senses to converse with any spirits (including my own ancestors) that could possibly teach me something. Add a sprinkle of depression and anxiety (and it’s genetic!! Yay!!) and you get me. An idiot sandwich.

I feel so deeply for witchcraft and hoodoo and for learning about them and practicing them, but I also feel like I have no right to. I mean, hell, the deities I worship are from lands and times I have no connection to. I love them so much, but sometimes I just wonder if I should worship deities from my own cultures. And then I remember that I don’t feel enough of a connection to any culture anyway, and... it’s a vicious cycle. I don’t know what to do with myself.

☁︎︎ you wake up frantic one night from a nightmare that had you drenched in cold sweat, your heavy breathing loud as it echoed through the otherwise quiet room.

☁︎︎ thank god you hadn't woken him up. After the long day he had with the knights you really didn't want to disturb him from some much needed sleep he was missing out now. ☁︎︎ tearing the blanket off yourself you quickly making your way to the toilet to wash your face, trying to get rid of the memories from the nightmare.

☁︎︎ you padded back to your shared bed, tucking yourself in as quietly as you could in an attempt to go back to sleep. what you didn't expect though was to feel kaeya's hands wrap themselves around your waist, pulling you close to him.

☁︎︎ "are you alright dear?"

☁︎︎ shit. crap he woke up. you tried to turn to face him, sputtering out apologies for waking him up.

☁︎︎ though, instead of doing anything, he snuggled up against your back and pulled the blanket securely over you guys.

☁︎︎ even when he was exhausted from a day full of paperwork and teaching new knights how to fight, he somehow found the energy to try and start a conversation with you. at 2.43 in the morning no less.

☁︎︎ it's not the first time his witness someone have nightmares, (he's seen kaeya have nightmares in the past) but he doesn't think he's seen anyone with nightmares this bad

☁︎︎ he realised you were having a nightmare when you started to shift around in his arms and mumbles what sounds like a please, no, don't. please.

☁︎︎ he doesn't immediately wake you up though. he wants to make sure that you're actually having a nightmare before that (otherwise you'd be losing sleep)

☁︎︎ he confirmed that you were having a nightmare when you started kicking off the blankets and almost smacked his face with your arm.

☁︎︎ "hey… hey y/n wake up, wake up-"

☁︎︎ ah shit. you just had another one of those nightmares and you were currently drenched in cold sweat as you tried to slow your breathing, quickly realising diluc was awake and the one that had woken you up as you got more aware of your surroundings.

☁︎︎ Ah. It was probably him who woke up from the nightmare again.

☁︎︎ "it's ok y/n, I got you. you're ok." he said as he moved nearer to you, leaning his forehead against your own.

☁︎︎ you hugged him, tight, not wanting to let go of him. afraid that whatever happened in your dream might come through.

☁︎︎ "i'm not leaving ok. no ones leaving you darling, you're safe."

☁︎︎ he wakes you up and offers you a potion he made

☁︎︎ that day you were together with him at his campsite at the foot of dragonspine

☁︎︎ as we all know, albedo is very… observant.

☁︎︎ he noticed [almost since the start] that you had frequent nightmares; whether you were aware of it or not, he frequently saw you flinch in your sleep and let out small whines of discomfort and it pained him to see you in that state

☁︎︎ because of this, he would often time wake up in the middle of the night for you so that he could shake you out of your nightmare

☁︎︎ but he knew that wasn't efficient for the both of you so he decided (with your consent) to try and experiment a little. making concoctions in hopes that it would hopefully help with the bad dreams

☁︎︎ he had brought you along with him and klee once to the outskirts of mondstadt to go forging for some local plants and herbs

☁︎︎ you had to say that was blast, seeing the pair bond and they helped you to the best of their ability, it was so sweet of them

☁︎︎ he sat you up, walking over to his table where a vial of purple liquid reast

☁︎︎ "thank you albedo." you said after drinking the bittersweet liquid, barely above a whisper with a droopy smile on your face, showing your gratitude towards him.

☁︎︎ it wasn't long before you fell back asleep. he laid you back down on bed, pressing a kiss on your forehead and then your lips.

☁︎︎ "sweet dreams my love."

Aight I noticed smth in game and decided to see what my fav theorist thought about it: so, the dragons right? Farosh and Naydra both have areas in their respective regions named after them (Farosh Hills and Naydra Snowfield), but Dinraal doesn’t have an area named for it (unless I’m just dumb and haven’t found it yet). Missed detail by designers? or a purposeful piece of lore regarding the Triforce and how the people of Hyrule feel about each piece? After all the boar statues from the Zonai are also significantly rarer than the owls and the dragons

Dragons!!! Right!!! 

The dragons are honestly one of the coolest things in the game. Their music, their design, the atmosphere is just... *chefs kiss*

From what I could find, you’re absolutely right! There are no lands named after Dinraal, (other than the Eldin region, of course, but the respective lands exist for Lanayru and Faron region too) 

Ok kids, let’s play a fun round of “find the correlation.” Here are all the dragon routes, color coded to their respective powers:

Now below are all of the Springs of [blank] locations:

And here are the locations named after the dragons Nayru and Farosh:

So if we take our data, we can come up with some conclusions such as:

All the dragons have a spawn location are near their respective springs, meaning either the springs attracted the dragons, or the springs were specifically built after people saw the dragons fly there. [Farosh’s paths might indicate the latter...though it might be a mix of both?]

The naming of the lands “Nayru Snowfield” and “Farosh Hills” are near these dragon locations, hence, most likely named for the dragons sighting/proximity to these areas

These locations are in remote areas, meaning either the dragons choose to avoid populated towns, people choose to avoid the dragons, or some mix of both, perhaps for religious/sacred/respect reason

Anyhow, what to do, what to do! I was just gonna leave this post here because I’ve honestly run out of things to say. I think you’ve put my thoughts down perfectly already, with the connection to the Zonai monuments, and the stigma against ganon. BUT! I wanted to do more, hence why this ask took a few days to get a response

I’ve been doing some thinking (a shocking action coming from me, I know) and I remembered something important that might be relevant to the purpose of the dragons in the games!

There’s nothing new or special about these fairies, they work just the same as the ones you might find at a Fairy Fountain or Korok Forest.

But we know that a place a fairy spawns at must be a location of importance, right? I mean, looking at this object map, there are only nine locations where they spawn, five of them being Fairy Fountains. So why is this unnamed lake in the bunch?

I mean, what’s so special about this pond that is in the only area named after the sacred spirit of courage that is also close to the areas where Farosh travels and is also close to the Zonai statues of dragons which also represent courage, and is also close to the Faron Woods, and the dragon shaped river, and also the Spring of Courage..gee what’s so...special.....................

Do you see where I’m going with this? Perhaps not, but this location in Nayru Snowfield all but nags me to make this theory a reality

Why do fairies hide in the grass? Perhaps it is because the areas they hide in have been blessed by the dragon’s energy?

Why does Farosh travel to so many places compared to the other spirits? Because the Triforce of Courage (Link) is gone for 100 years, so the land is in extra need of that courageous blessing

Why does the Calamity only seek to infect Nayru, and not Farosh? Because he’s been battling Zelda for 100 years, so taking out the spirit that blesses the land with its wisdom sure would be helpful to gain the upper hand against the wielder of that piece of the Triforce. 

Why does Dinraal only travel on one path? Because the land’s already got it’s share of the blessings of the Triforce of Power, in the form of the devastation of the Calamity. Hence, Dinraal traveling in the high in the sky for a third of it’s path (the dotted portion of the diagram) and away from the land, and only coming down for the Badlands, and voids of Tanager Canyon. 

There is no land named after Dinraal, because of a stigma against the original wielder of the Triforce of Power, yes, I believe that. But I believe it is because of the fact that there was no need to give high praise to a power that has already clawed its presence into the depths of a ruined Hyrule.

Avengers Game

This game has been on my wishlist since I learned of its existence. I was disappointed when the release date was pushed back from May as I was planning on getting it for myself as a birthday present. This past weekend there was an open beta and so I tried the game out and I’m so glad I did.

It’s bad.

Like I’m the target audience for this game probably. I’m not very critical because I’m pretty useless at games and I love Marvel. Getting to play as my favourite characters = instant success, right? Well normally but with this game? Yeah not so much.

Ok so why do I think it’s bad?

Well this ‘open beta’ is basically code for free trial/stress test for the MMO aspects maybe. The game is coming out in less than 2 weeks so it should be pretty polished. I didn’t even make the first cinematic before it bugged out on me.

But alright bugs happen, I’m usually pretty forgiving of those so long as it’s not constant and it’s not constant. So why the bad review? Mostly because it’s not fun. I scanned a few reviews on Steam other people had left (I’m too chicken to leave my own hence my rambling here) and one person said the combat was like Lego Marvel with AAA graphics and I laughed because it’s true.

The combat is so uninspired and it’s marvel it should be fun! But you alternate between pressing X and Y and then eventually you get a powerup and hit LB/RB and there’s a big effect which often doesn’t hit (might be because I’m bad at aiming idk). The heroes aren’t distinct because it’s the same buttons for all of them and THEY DO THE SAME DAMAGE! Like I’m sorry and all because I love Nat very much, she might have been my favourite to play in the opening sequence, but Hulk should punch harder than Black Widow. It breaks immersion.

The mobs are just waves of drones basically, I think most of them are robots but they might also be #generic bad guy. I understand as it was the beta there was some playing out of order which makes the story harder to follow but to be honest I wasn’t interested in following the story as the combat (bulk of the gameplay) is so lackluster.

I was really hoping this game would be like Jedi Fallen Order which I loved. I thought that was an amazing game. It’s not without its critics but I really enjoyed it. The combat in that was stellar, the story was interesting and it’s a game I will return to and replay (and pick up my last 6% to 100% it) so it’s well worth the time and money.

With IP’s like Marvel I’m usually easy to please, I’m very much “take my money” but with this? Maybe I’ll pick it up one day if it goes on sale but I’ve gone from planning on pre-purchasing the deluxe to deciding not to buy it at all.

Perhaps I’ve become more critical with games. I enjoyed Jedi Fallen Order very much and so naturally I compared Avengers to it. I also discovered the Assassin Creed franchise and I loved that so much I now own almost every single game from it. So I’m not hurting for games to play, I have quality games in my library and Avengers just falls very short.

Even though I’m still stunned because it’s marvel and I really thought I’d love it and I really really don’t.
