I wasn't going to post today, but then I thought of this adorable artwork by @natendo-art, and I was overcome with fluffy feelings. So this is a little something I wrote that was inspired by it.
Every evening Mobius would pull out his tablet and wind down by playing hidden object games. In the latest one he downloaded, he played as an enigmatic detective called to a murder scene. He had to search a mansion for clues, all while surrounded by suspicious rich people. It was a classic murder-mystery plot, and Mobius adored it.
Sometimes he wondered if, on one of the many timelines in the multiverse, he was ever a detective. It suited him. Detective Mobius.
Loki curled up against him, his head resting against his shoulder, and watched as he played, often pointing out items that Mobius couldn’t find.
“Your hair is getting long,” Mobius said, absentmindedly stroking through Loki’s curls as he searched his screen for an umbrella.
Loki nestled closer to Mobius. “I’ve been enjoying growing it out,” he said, a smile growing on his lips. “Now that I’m not trying to take over the world, I have more time to take care of it.”
Mobius chuckled playfully, pulling lightly at a strand of Loki's hair, which earned him an equally playful poke to his side.
Anyone else might have interpreted Loki’s flippant attitude towards his past as a lack of concern for his actions, but Mobius knew better.
“It looks beautiful, sweetheart.” He said, leaning to press a kiss on Loki’s forehead.
“Thank you, darling,” Loki replied. “The umbrella is under the mantlepiece, by the way.”
Mobius adjusted his glasses and peered at the fireplace. There, beneath the overhang, was a black umbrella, blending into the equally dark marble it was crafted from.
He huffed. What an obvious place for it to be hidden.
no pressure tags to @kcscribbler @thosegayoldmen @devilbearingtrouble any anyone else who reads this!
i am now playing a mobile game that largely involves looking for shit in pictures based on word prompts. the gameplay looks like this:
as a result i have learnt the following:
both of these are "crane":
this thing is called a "caduceus". i don't even know the word for this thing in my mother language (in this search i just found out apparently the word for it in my mother language directly translates to "two-snake cane")
this thing is called a "candelabrum"
this thing is called a "fleur-de-lis"
this thing is called a "pinwheel". the word for it in my mother language is same as the word for "windmill"
this thing is called a "wind rose". i have just been calling it "direction symbol"
these are called "pennants". the word for these in my mother language is "rainbow flags"
"wallet" and "purse" are two very different things
i shouldn't know the world "abacus" but i know the word "abacus"
when you're looking for a "coffee maker", it could mean you're looking for one of the following four
but not this, because it's a "coffee grinder" instead
"bat" can be the baseball stick and the flying mammal. i know this word, it's just that this feature / bug makes you clench your fist when the word is the only tip in a hidden object game
"stamp" can mean one of the following:
both of the following can be called a "scooter". i thought you should call the first one a "motorcycle" instead
A hidden object game, also called hidden picture or hidden object puzzle adventure (HOPA), is a subgenre of puzzle video games in which the player must find items from a list that are hidden within a scene.
