Brain Curd #160
Brain Curds are lightly edited flash fiction - practically first drafts - posted daily (haven't missed one yet!) and sometimes written with the express intention of being terrible… but, you know, in an endearing way. Please like and reblog if you enjoy - the notes keep me going!
Clint and Reggie sat next to each other on the couch, surrounded by clouds of smoke.
“Dude…” Clint said, trailing off.
“What?”
“I can see colors…”
Reggie squinted at him. “That’s what you’re supposed to do with colors.”
“Oh yeah.”
Pink Floyd’s Animals spun on the turntable. The two of them sat almost entirely motionless, occasionally blinking. Some indeterminate amount of time passed before Clint spoke again.
“My eyes are fucking, dry, man.”
Reggie handed him a bottle of eyedrops. He immediately opened it and put a drop in his left eye, then recoiled.
“Agh! What the fuck is this?!?”
“Hahaha!” Reggie doubled over laughing. “That’s super glue! I got you good!”
“I think I need to go to the hospital!”
Reggie kept laughing. His eyes watered. “Ha! At least my eyes aren’t dry anymore!”
Clint’s left eye, now glued shut, remained closed. “This is gonna make it really hard to play baseball.” Thinking of baseball made him think of hot dogs, which reminded him he hadn’t eaten in several hours. “I’m hungry as shit, dude, let’s order something.”
Reggie rubbed his chin. “No.”
“Why not?”
“Because this aimless story has gone on long enough.”
“Huh?”

criminal meeting at empty, mid-painting and mid-furnishing flat, obviously student, dingy, no one would ever look there late at night, or even want to look.  batman-esque villains. a girl is smoking opposite the window of one of the rooms, where some light shines through. but her headphones blast fall out boy so much for stardust and so she sees only the hallway, and doesn’t hear the mumblings of confidential details, life-endangering knowledge. if they hear the flicking of her lighter faintly in the distance, one of them might investigate, and their cover blown. the girl was only imagining the scenario, but once they revealed their presence her paranoia was all confirmed. They lock eyes. the stoned girl smiles lazily and hazily at the crony. they peer, critical and guarded, back at her, raising their pistol and silencer and shooting her right between the eyes.

Weapons of Death (1977)
Weapons of Death is a real oddity. It’s a spin off to a series of movies that were popular at the box office in the 1970s. There are a couple of tactics being used, to get bums on seats, pretty shrewd tactics.

Okay so like stick with me but young Derek, alive hale fam au.
So like the Hale family finds out that Derek has a crush on Sheriff Stilinski’s delinquent son, and has mixed reactions. Talia is torn between amusement, worry and wanting to dislike stiles. Papa hale is very protective but thinks it funny that him and his son have the same tastes.
Peter is ecstatic, Stiles once beat him in chess when running from the cops. (stiles was running and sat down in the park around people for cover, turns out he interrupted a chess tournament. Peter challenged him to a game if stiles lost, Peter would turn him over to the police. If he won, stiles could use him as an alibi)
The rest of his siblings don’t really have an opinion other than using Derek’s crush to make fun of him EXPECT for Laura. Laura is in a one sided rivalry with stiles.
As the sheriff right hand deputy she was tasked with keeping an eye out for stiles and she constantly loses him. Which shouldn’t be possible because she’s a werewolf. She can never connect him to a crime he’s committed and can never prove anything. Can’t go to a judge a say “oh he left a scent trail which I followed because I’m a werewolf.”
Derek brings him home to dinner after they start dating. Unfortunately, the day that Derek brings him over, is also the day that Laura had to run around town taking reports of his crimes. She is fuming. Stiles looks her dead in her twitching eye and asked her how her day went.
The only crime she can connect him to is when he commit aggravated assault against a few of Derek’s teammates went to far with hazing. (Derek refused to fight back as not to hurt them) she lets him off.

Man. If I had a nickel for every time Zac Oyama and Lou Wilson had to rp a breakup-coded fight between their “platonic besties” characters because Zac’s character was experiencing a hard personal internal struggle and decided to leave a group/cause that he wasn’t actually invested in and mostly just joined because Lou’s character was passionate about it and Lou’s character was canonically very charismatic and good at garnering followers/admirers but Zac’s character was one of his only true friends that he fully trusted and was loyal to and Lou’s character was really hurt when Zac’s character left, less by the actual action of leaving and more by the implication that he didn’t care about Lou’s character enough to stay I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s fucking RUDE that it’s happened twice.

I'm sorry I'm still not over Riz taking the High Fantasy Equivalent Of Speed except no one remembers he weighs 25 pounds soaking wet so instead of Calming The Hell Down like we all know in our heart of hearts Riz would do if he actually took properly dosed stimulants he just sprints through all 9 phases of hyperfocus and ascends to neurodivergent godhood and starts solving mysteries you've never heard of and then becomes paranoid that someone's gonna take his memories so he goes up to a pirate and asks them to tattoo his red string conspiracy board on his flesh

I see way too many fics where Caitlyn is cool. Arcane Caitlyn has a conspiracy board on her floor, no friends we see of her age despite being one of the richest people in Piltover, and sucks at making conversation. This is loser erasure and I will not stand for it. In this essay I will—
