🇬🇧 Reclining Pigeon Pose (Supta Kapotasana) 🇯🇵 あおむけのハトのポーズ「スプタカポタサナ」 (リクライニングピジョンポーズ) Looking for a less intense way to do Pigeon pose? Pigeon pose can be very intense stretch on the hips, legs and even the back. Doing on your back or in a supine position makes the stretch not as intense and you can control the intensity easily with your hands. This pose can really help with the mobility of the hips joints. This pose incorporates lateral rotation and flexion of the hip joints. Lateral rotation is when the leg opens from the centre of the body to the outside. And flexion is when the hip joints bends and leg moves towards the front of the body. When doing this pose it's important to keep the foot flexed on the leg you are stretching. This will help to support the knee and the ligaments surrounding the knee. If you can reach both hands around the opposite leg placing the hands on the shin just under the knee, go for it. If this is too intense please use a strap and hook it around you leg placing it over the shin. Then gently pull your legs towards you keeping you back on the ground.
