Maybe it isn't that I actually hate medical professionals? They just suck and are weird sometimes, and a lot of them shouldn't be practicing, but I don't hate them as a group, like, personally.
What I hate is their ability to make my life harder in ways that are often completely opaque to me, and a lot of the crap things they do are not really possible to challenge. And I hate the fact that holding them responsible fort dogshit behavior in any way that will actually benefit me is almost always impossible.
And I also hate the fact that they have to do stupid things sometimes because that's how the system is set up, and those things sometimes mean patients actually get harmed. They aren't fond of that part either! They don't want the system to be the way it is! But they don't have a choice, so sometimes people like me get forced by bureaucracy into doing things that are re-traumatizing. And I can't imagine that feels good for them at all, knowing that their patients are sometimes only "consenting" because that bureaucracy will not let them be helped in any other way. Which isn't consent at all. I imagine that must be pretty traumatizing for them, too, sometimes.
If it were easier to actually access medical care without tremendous delays in this country right now I would have much less trouble finding providers who are good at what they do and are not horrible people, and who have clinic staff who can do their fucking job.
Oh and I also don't appreciate how evasive and unwilling to commit they are out of fear of being held to an answer that turns out to be inaccurate, but I can't make an informed decision about my own care unless they give me at least some information about probabilities and trajectories and typicalities. Genuinely, how the fuck am I supposed to navigate that shit. I get that some patients are really fucking difficult, but I should be able to get a special stamp on my file or something that says I understand that sometimes medicine isn't an exact science and the best answers that my doctors can give may not always prove to be accurate in the long term. I know they don't like being in that situation either.
A lot of medical professionals are fucking assholes, and unfortunately the ones who are not are still hamstrung by a system set up to actively prevent people from getting care.
I miss my old doctor. He gave no shits about anything that wasn't the patient. He prescribed scheduled meds based on what the patient needed and not based on fear of consequences potentially being imposed on him by the punitive patient-hostile drugs-are-bad moral panic machine developed to force suffering people into buying more dangerous drugs off the street in order to prevent far fewer people from maybe getting high off of drugs that at least weren't laced with lethal substances. (The purpose of a system is what it does.) Did he get sanctioned and become locally unhireable? Unfortunately yes he did. Does he now provide concierge care to rich people? Yes he does. He found a way to make it work, God bless him.
Everything about the medical system in this country is fucked. Hospitals, doctors, nurses, pharmacies, pharmacists, pharmacy techs, phlebotomists, clinic administrative staff, insurance companies, medical schools and schooling, licensing boards, drug advertising to both providers and patients, pharmaceutical reps, researchers, research, publishing, medical trials, pharmaceutical companies, manufacturers and distributors, medical equipment, charting software, billing and billing codes, diagnostic criteria, charity and low income services, accessible transportation, home care, the lack of independent individual patient advocates, dietitians and nutritionists, access to physical and occupational therapy and physical and occupational therapists, the massive bigotry of every kind rampant in every corner of the medical field, social work, senior care and assisted living, deprioritization of informed consent and harm reduction, disability applications, inaccessibility of medical records, especially psychiatric notes which are specifically allowed to be withheld from patients, lack of continuity of care for disadvantaged people, care that is equitably accessible to disabled people, telemedicine, patient portals, phone systems, clinic hours, every single aspect of inpatient and outpatient psychiatry, facility security, all sorts of things going on with therapists who are nevertheless probably the least malicious group of people in this entire charade, aaaaaand patients themselves.
Also hospital toilets that are too tall and make it literally physically impossible for me to poop while I'm there waiting for somebody to come out of surgery. I just needed to take a crap, guys. You didn't need to make the toilets so tall that my feet didn't even touch the floor. It is very clean but there is no shitting for short people at St Francis.

River Glen’s lenient attendance policies and free tutoring sessions have allowed him to thrive academically—even while managing morning sickness and evening study sessions. He is 7 months pregnant with his boyfriends baby. The pregnancy was unplanned but taken well from family and friends.
Kai Simmons, 20 We meet Kai who is an arts major who doodles tattoo designs in the margins of his lecture notes. The school’s open-minded faculty and frequent mental health workshops have helped him stay focused through the ups and downs of pregnancy. He attributes his newfound confidence to the supportive campus culture that lets him be both an artist and an expectant father.
Julian Park, 23 Julian a computer science student eyeing a future in software development, he navigates back-to-back coding labs while planning for parenthood. With River Glen’s flexible online courses, he can write code from home on days when exhaustion or prenatal checkups demand a lighter schedule. His professors, well-versed in the college’s pro-family policies, always accommodate him with extended deadlines when needed.
Devin Brooks, 21 We meet Devin who is studying business administration, he’s spearheading a new student-run fundraiser for the upcoming child-care center. River Glen’s scholarship system—which awards aid based on student-led community initiatives—has helped him stay financially stable and on track to finish his degree before the baby arrives.
Each of these four future dads credits River Glen Community College’s unique approach—offering flexible class times, easy re-enrollment for those who pause their studies, and a judgment-free atmosphere—for helping them balance classes with prenatal appointments and occasional bouts of morning fatigue

Feeling like putting down my find so here is
JV/Ant Davidson Timeline
(Can’t guarantee 100% accuracy on all info, can’t guarantee no bias no projection, not using there full names because guess what, so less info about them together if you google their names together my blog appears on the 1st page)
JV was raised in Switzerland. Did math and computer science in Switzerland. He found out he needed an engineer background to enter F1 so went back to England to get a master in that. Got to work at BAR(later Honda, Brawn, Merc) eventually. (He had a billion interview on him hustling his way to BAR but that’s not relevant to the story here)
Ant was raised in a middle class family. Went to Karting with brother and he was more interested and started to compete in Karting. He worked his way to Formula Ford and was lucky to get a sponsorship( the sponsor bought a house and let him lived there). His sponsor talked to him about career choice, at that time, test driver made a decent amount of money and that f1 seat seems a bit too distant. So Ant ended up in BAR around the same time as JV
Well JV was not that much of an engineering guy. His job going into Honda was a combination of some data analysis, coordination between departments and some engineer. There was no proper strategist job back in the days so he just bounced around. (The untold interview he said he was suppose to fix an electronic problem on the front wing, Evan Short ended up doing that. Not saying that he knew nothing but inferring from his other interview, he definitely needed help). (Even now strategist have “low” status in the team since only the principal strategist can go to the track and everyone back home’s job is make sure to feed enough info through TR that the principal’s eyes are always on track).
Meanwhile, Ant was doing amazing as a test driver, too amazing that Honda was reluctant to release him to do actual f1 racing. He missed a seat(which team I forgot) but Honda eventually agreed to let him race for Super Aguri in 2007. That team didn’t last.
Then came the Brawn year. Before 2009, JV and Ant were already starting to worry about their jobs and registered a company together. Company never took off because here comes Brawn GP.
After the championship, our champ Jenson was scheduled to do victory laps in the factory for the fans but he already buggered off to McLaren. Ant did the laps and JV was his engineer for that.
Then came the Merc years.
Ant was doing a bunch of different things then: racing in WEC, driving the Merc simulator and later became a sky sport host. Ant missed the chance of winning a championship(he also missed a podium due to bad luck in 2007) but he got one eventually. When Alonso returned to F1, Ant interviewed him asking if Alonso remembered them racing against each other in WEC, Alonso did not remember. Ant also did Jenson’s retirement interview. Ant also did some interview later saying he was too nice to be competing in this shark tank of f1, nice guy can’t win races.
JV was doing a bunch of different things in Merc as well. He was in charge of simulator, junior team, esport team and development data analysis software for premier league(honorable mention: he wrote the drivers code of conduct in 2016 to prevent Lewis and Nico fighting). Ant was a reliable simulator driver, JV was working a lot with Ant at that time(JV didn’t need to be present for the crowd strike thing but he was there…) (Also they Merc’s equipment to tune cars for their friend’s Karting league, naughty boys). I want to believe JV cares about drivers he works with, especially junior team (he went up to hug Esteban Ocon(Merc junior driver) after his 2021 Hungarian gp win(Merc strategy was a disaster that race)
Ant said JV is one of his best friends. He phoned JV a lot during the Honda and Brawn years. Ant also texted JV to ask for technical details when he started to comment for Sky( Ant joked in 2023 pre season test that JV is getting to busy with his TP job to reply to his texts). JV also bugged Ant for a VIP pass during Ant’s LeMans years. JV had spent time with Ant’s family doing barbecue for JV’s birthday. JV is Ant’s kids’ god father.
Projection time: Brawn and Merc years treated JV so well he probably is a bit idealist about things now. The stuff he said at Williams make sense if your work experience is a streak of championships. JV will probably never get a reality check so hard the way Ant exit F1(divorce? Idw). Knowing they are good friends make me happy.

So this is part 2 of this post, if yall wanna give it a read for context.
In this post, I’ll be talking about how Color’s physical disability of having only one eye would influence how he interacts with his special interests in photography and travel.
As well as how his PTSD, autism, chronic fatigue, and separation anxiety from Killer could also affect things.
With one eye, Color might have reduced depth perception, which could make it challenging to gauge distances accurately. He might rely more on autofocus features, practice to enhance his spatial awareness, or use techniques like focus stacking for precise shots.
He might prefer using cameras with electronic viewfinders (EVF) or live view screens rather than optical viewfinders, which could be more challenging to use with one eye. Adjusting camera settings and composing shots via a larger display would be easier.
He might develop unique framing and composition techniques, leveraging his perspective creatively. Color could take extra time to ensure his shots are well-composed, possibly using grid overlays or other aids to help with alignment.
Customizing camera gear to suit his needs, such as using tripods, stabilizers, or remote controls, to help steady the camera and compose shots more comfortably.
He might spend additional time in post-processing to correct any minor misalignments or issues that arise from the reduced depth perception during the shooting process.
For travel, navigating unfamiliar places might require more caution, especially in crowded or complex environments. He might use mobility aids, rely on GPS and mapping apps, or travel with companions to ensure safety.
Color could engage in meticulous planning to minimize unexpected challenges, such as researching accessible routes, accommodations, and transportation options.
Color might use his experiences and perspective to connect with others, sharing how his disability influences his travel and photography, fostering understanding and empathy.
Developing strategies to cope with the physical demands of travel, such as pacing himself, taking regular breaks, and prioritizing destinations or activities that are less physically demanding.
His unique perspective could inspire him to create compelling stories or advocacy pieces about accessibility in travel and photography, raising awareness and inspiring others with disabilities.
Embracing his distinct view of the world, his photography could offer unique perspectives that stand out, turning his perceived limitation into an artistic advantage.
He might become involved in communities focused on accessible travel and photography, sharing tips, experiences, and inspiring others with similar challenges.
Autism and chronic fatigue would likely significantly impact Color’s ability to engage with his special interests in photography and travel.
In photography, chronic fatigue would necessitate careful energy management. Color might plan shorter, more focused photography sessions and prioritize rest to avoid burnout.
Streamlining his workflow, from setting up equipment to post-processing, to conserve energy. This could include using presets in editing software or organizing his gear for easy access.
He could chose photography locations that are easily accessible and require minimal physical exertion. He might also prefer locations close to home or base to reduce travel time and energy expenditure.
He would likely use ightweight equipment to reduce physical strain, possibly investing in high-quality but compact cameras and lenses. He might also use monopods or lightweight tripods for additional support.
Autism can come with sensory sensitivities. Color might choose quieter, less crowded locations for photography and use noise-canceling headphones or other tools to manage sensory overload.
With travel, he’d have to pace himself. Planning travel with built-in downtime to rest and recharge. He might avoid overly ambitious itineraries and allow for flexible scheduling to accommodate his energy levels.
He’d probably chose ccommodations that are comfortable, quiet, and accessible, ensuring he has a safe space to retreat to when needed.
He’d prefer modes of transportation that offer comfort and minimal stress, such as direct flights, train travel, or driving. He might also opt for private or semi-private tours to control the pace and environment.
Keeping up with healthcare needs, including regular check-ups, medication management, and any necessary accommodations. He might also carry a travel health kit tailored to his specific needs.
He’d combine photography with travel in a way that maximizes enjoyment and minimizes strain. For example, he might focus on travel photography during the golden hours (early morning and late afternoon) when conditions are optimal, and the rest of the day can be used for rest.
Creating content that reflects his experiences with autism and chronic fatigue, such as blogs, vlogs, or social media posts. This can help raise awareness and provide valuable insights to others with similar challenges.
Engaging with communities of autistic travelers and photographers to share experiences, tips, and support. This can provide a sense of camaraderie and practical advice tailored to his needs.
Establishing routines that provide predictability and reduce stress. This might include having a consistent photography and travel routine, preparing for trips well in advance, and creating checklists.
Practicing mindfulness or relaxation techniques to manage stress and sensory overload. This can help maintain focus and calm, particularly in challenging environments.
Utilizing assistive technologies, such as apps for energy tracking, sensory-friendly gear, or digital tools that aid in planning and organization.
Color’s PTSD from solitary confinement and isolation in the Void, combined with his separation anxiety towards Killer, can create a complex situation that both challenges and shapes his engagement in traveling and photography.
Color’s need to stay on the move due to PTSD makes traveling appealing, as it provides a sense of freedom and escape from confinement. However, this constant movement could also become exhausting and anxiety-inducing if it lacks purpose or stability.
His separation anxiety towards Killer might lead him to seek Killer’s company while traveling. Traveling with Killer could provide a sense of security and reduce his anxiety, but it also means his travel plans would need to align with Killer’s availability and willingness to join him.
Color might need to carefully plan his travels to ensure he has safe and familiar places to stay, reducing the unpredictability that could trigger his PTSD. Having a structured itinerary could help him feel more in control and less anxious.
Traveling to new and unfamiliar places might sometimes trigger memories of his isolation, especially if he encounters situations that remind him of the Void. He would need to find a balance between exploring new places and ensuring his mental well-being.
Photography could serve as a therapeutic outlet, allowing Color to process and express his emotions through capturing images. It might help him make sense of his experiences and provide a way to externalize his trauma.
Color might be drawn to photographing subjects that reflect his internal state or provide a sense of solace. He could focus on themes like freedom, movement, and connection, finding meaning and healing in his work.
Having Killer around while engaging in photography could provide comfort and reduce his anxiety. Killer might even become a frequent subject in Color’s photos, symbolizing their bond and mutual support.
Color might need to develop strategies to manage his anxiety while photographing, such as taking breaks, grounding exercises, or having a trusted companion like Killer present. This would help him stay focused and engaged in his special interest.
The mutual separation anxiety between Color and Killer could strengthen their bond, as they rely on each other for emotional support. This bond could provide Color with the stability he needs to engage in his interests.
Color would need to balance his need for movement and exploration with Killer’s needs and limitations. They might develop a mutual understanding and compromise, ensuring both their well-being while pursuing their interests.
Color might prefer traveling to places where he can easily find comfort and familiarity, such as visiting friends or known locations. This reduces the stress of the unknown and helps him stay grounded.
Establishing routines or rituals while traveling and photographing can provide a sense of stability. For example, always starting the day with a specific activity or having regular check-ins with Killer can help Color manage his anxiety.
They might have frequent phone calls if Killer ever can’t join Color on his travels, at particular times of the day.
I can see Color sticking to this routine at the exact time and getting anxious and worried if Killer doesn’t call or pick up, which is likely to happen at some point simply because he has memory issues and sticking to routine is hard for him. But Color, at least for a bit, is likely to assume the worse.
Color might also keep a photograph of him and all his friends close by on his person. (I also like to think that Delta made his camera, he keeps some of Beta’s drawings with him, and also he’s memorized the recipe for Epic’s chocolate cookies.)
If he and Killer have already had their wedding by this point, he’d likely keep his ring close and near. Perhaps kissing it before bed, and fidgeting with it becomes a new comforting stim.
Over time, engaging in his special interests despite his PTSD and anxiety can help Color build resilience. Each successful trip or photography session can boost his confidence and reinforce his ability to cope with challenges.
Color might find deeper meaning in his travels and photography by using them as tools for healing and connection. Documenting his journey and sharing it with others can create a sense of purpose and community.

So uh, how are you planning to enforce the "no AI" rule? What do you plan to do if a participant is accused of using unacceptable software?
There's no submissions and no enforcement.
If someone is posting the in #Novella November & #NovellaNovember tags:
clearly-AI generated content (such as AI-generated book covers)
bragging about using AI
Talking about how they used x AI program to make X part of the book
etc
Then I can guarantee you they're going to simply be blocked by a few thousand writers en masse.
Probably they will get at least a few people trying to talk to them about the harm that AI does, and better alternatives that don't mass-steal from a few million unconsenting people--
alternatives like:
finding someone to partner with to discuss your ideas for brainstorming instead of asking an AI chatbot
.
Joining a "secret gift" group where everyone digitally "pulls a name out of a hat" or is randomly selected to make a cover for someone else's book idea
.
commissioning an actual artist for a cover
.
youtube tutorials on how to use GIMP as a free Photoshop alternative to make your own cover, with links to sites such as Pexels that have free stockphotos for anyone to use
.
Choosing a lower, more manageable daily word count goal if 1k or 500 is too out of line with your work schedule/ability to write on your own instead of resorting to AI generation to try to make up the difference out of anxiety
.
finding alternative medias to 'write' with, such as using an app on your phone or the in-built accessibility features on Windows that let you use your voice to type, so if you can't physically type or write with your hands or other limbs, you can instead dictate your novel outloud, which would also work if you are often away from home or can't actively use your phone but *can* record your voice passively as you work with your hands on another task :)
so...... yeah.
Literally the only things that would happen if someone tries to use AI in the #Novella November and #NovellaNovember tags would be the writing community collectively:
attempting some outreach; education is key to realizing the harm being done, after all! Maybe the person just doesn't know any better, and felt like that was their only option to reach their goal.
blocking the person, and if they're actively malicious in their AI use (such as fully knowing how much it harms writers/artists, how much of it is based on plagarism, or actively going out of their way to steal other people's work) people will probably start warning others about them as well so they can be blocked in advance, the same as other people who are harmful to communities.
This is a community initiative, spearheaded by this blog purely because I came up with the idea first and want to make sure that, at least to start out and as long as I can manage it, the community is the key part of being supporting and caring of each other, because billion dollar tech companies and those who are swayed by their money sure as heck aren't going to stand with us.
If someone is ""accused of using unacceptable software"" ..... they're just gonna get blocked if they're posting AI generated content, like everyone else who posts AI generated content get blocked by the community at large as they're encountered.
I'll repeat again: this is a community initiative, not an organization. There's no submissions people are sending anywhere to "confirm" word counts; --
Only:
people posting their celebrations and woes in the tag,
posting their frustrations and questions,
receiving answers and advice from the community,
sharing art and snippets, making covers, making decorative goal cards,
No AI is allowed in Novella November -- if people are posting or bragging about using AI generated content, they're simply going to be announcing themselves to thousands of writers (plus everyone who follows those writers) that they're a good person to block and never interact with 🤷

Hey y’all, small personal update to explain why I haven’t been posting much lately!
In short: I don’t have time, but I probably will again starting in mid-September.
My schedule between work and home has just been hectic, and I’ve been kinda neglecting everything that isn’t work or myself.
I work as a software engineer, and I really enjoy my job, but there’s an event coming up that has me under a lot of pressure because my part of the job is the most forward facing. If something goes wrong, pretty much all eyes are going to be on me regardless of whether or not it’s actually my fault (this is just part of my job, I accept it, but it still stresses me out 😂)
Basically my life has been: wake up at 6:00am, get myself ready, get baby ready, get baby to daycare, get myself to work, work until 5:00pm, get baby ready for bed, do the housework/meal prep/animal care, and then maybeeeee I have an hour to myself before I have to get ready for bed.
Just rinse and repeat. Every day.
Now I know some folks will say “wow, such first world problems 🙄” or “you think that’s bad, I have x, y, and z and I still have time!” or something to that effect.
I know. I’m very lucky.
I’m also just very tired.
Anyways, have some pictures of my cat with batstarion.

An Outside Chance Author Update
Hello, my dear readers. Before anyone starts panicking, I wanted to state that my fic has not been abandoned. Updates will hopefully go back to our regular semi-schedule soon.
I wanted to share this little journal entry with all of you because I am hyperaware that it's been almost 8 months since I posted the latest chapter. I'm unsure if this will assuage the writer guilt I'm currently feeling, but I wanted to reach out and nurture the community part that makes fandoms such fun and welcoming spaces for all of us at the very least.
My life became a roller coaster after I last updated AOC. I went on a trip to visit my girlfriend (yes, my Friends to Lovers trope continues) and, for the first time in my life, I had no desire to use my phone or laptop throughout the day. I felt so at peace, so content simply living in the moment with her. I realized this is how true love and home feel like, and so we agreed we wanted to marry even before my trip ended.
After my trip, my time was consumed by designing an engagement ring for her, researching everything about marrying someone from a different country, as well as searching for a more stable job to help pay for all the future paperwork and visa fees. Sadly, not everything was a walk in the clouds. I had to come out to my family and...they didn't take it well. It was a very hard blow that I had to learn how to overcome. However, the situation also allowed me to receive unconditional support from the most unlikely places, so I'll be eternally grateful to everyone who stuck by my side.
But my challenges didn't end there. Tensions in my country grew nearly unbearable as elections grew closer, and I find it difficult to believe that they have now come and gone. The hardest thing for me to experience though was the first death in my family. Indeed, we had already lost my beloved Beagle, but this time we had to say goodbye to my mother's husband much earlier than anyone would have wanted. He wasn't my father, but I still have many fond memories of the 17 years we spent together. He was part of the family, and we've all been struggling and learning how to navigate this new grief we're experiencing while taking care of my widowed mother.
Through all of this, I constantly received comments and kudos in my AO3 fics, and I wanted to thank my wonderful readers for it. You guys helped me smile during one of the most difficult parts of my life, and you gave me hope for our fandom communities at a time when companies are shamelessly stealing content from anyone for their stupid AI software and newer fans are failing to recognize writers and artists as something other than corporate content creators.
So thank you so much for your support. I promise to continue An Outside Chance once my grief is not so all-consuming. I still have many plans and ideas for this story, and I refuse to give up being creative yet ♡
TL;DR: Life happened. Hard. But the unexpected hiatus does not mean An Outside Chance is an abandoned fanfic. I will post the next chapter as soon as I can. In the meantime, you're welcome to re-read all 77,456 words I've published so far and drop me more of your lovely comments. You make writing and posting these stories worth it.

Headcanons- Simon "Ghost" Riley
Tumblr media
Sorry in advance, these are the least organized by FAR and the longest because Roach is my all time fav COD character so a lot of Simon's is just "this is how I would put roach in the story :)" and I also love tattoos and piercings so
Birthday December 22nd, 1993
Early life
The calculation used for his birth year was that he would have been about 29 during the events of MW2 (he enlisted at 17 in 2001, so in 2013 during MW2 he would’ve been about 29.) Therefore, 2022-1993 would be 29 years old during the MWII campaign.
Born in a small rural village outside of Manchester, but moved to the city when he was 10.
His mother, Meredith met his father, Paul at a music festival in Manchester and became pregnant shortly after.
She had Simon at 17 and married Paul, 23, at the urging of her devoutly Protestant parents once they found out she was pregnant.
His father was a construction worker, and was terribly abusive to his family, his mother never had a job or a way to escape because she was practically abandoned by her family after Simon’s birth.
Tommy was 4 years younger.
Undiagnosed autism spectrum disorder. Mostly manifests in masking, sensory issues, unwillingness to break schedules, etc.
I consider most of the Ghost comic canon, except moved up to the appropriate time.
Specialty Section: Roach
I can't wait for this all to need a rewrite in November
Grew up with Gary Roach Sanderson. Some headcanons about Gary include
Is not deaf, but both of his parents are so he almost exclusively communicated in BSL as a child.
Simon was one of the “weird kids” from a combination of his autism and abusive home life. The two got put together on a project once and were inseparable ever since.
Gary definitely always had more energy but Simon was the more outgoing of the two. Simon used to be a very outgoing, casual flirt to the point that Gary would have to drag him away from parties. (The personality of MW2 Ghost, very talkative.)
The two are like brothers. They enlisted at the same time.
Simon and Gary got into some minor teenage shenanigans, drinking, smoking at school, playing truant, etc. they both were definitely the sort of kids that went under the radar, nothing special.
Gary got his name Roach from escaping various explosions relatively unscathed, which led to the joke “only a nuke could kill Roach”.
Unfortunately, this was not the case. Roach lost both his left arm and leg in an IED explosion of which he was the only survivor. He retired from combat after this and now works remotely as a radio technician and software engineer for the SAS in Manchester.
Ghost genuinely considered retiring to help take care of Roach, but Roach wouldn’t let him. He knows Simon can’t really live in a civilian setting anymore.
Ghost lives with Roach when on leave and not doing other things. He the only person outside of the army he really considers a friend that knows his full story.
Brief and nonspecific timeline
As a private, was under Price’s US friend for a few missions. Put in a good word and had him and Gary sent to Price.
Met Price as a corporal, at the time he was charismatic, flirtatious, and generally outgoing after he got over his initial month or so of shyness. Was in Price’s squad for a mission along with Roach.
Went back and specially trained with prices US sniper friend. This is where Simon met Alex as well.
All of her Snipers got names based on “pest animals” (affectionately named “Pest Patrol” or “The Critter Corps” by graduates and Price.)
Gary got Roach for being able to bounce back from any explosion
Alex got Cotton Mouth because he casually picked one up and broke its neck during training once
Simon got the name “Possum” because he was incredibly skilled at “playing possum” or playing dead. Survived multiple really tight missions for his ability to blend in with corpses.
Went to a different squad, gains his Lieutenant rank
Roba happens, Ghost is born.
Captain Price pulls a lot of strings for Simon to make "the Ghost" a tenable position. This makes Price a lot of enemies out of higher-ups but he doesn’t give a damn.
Ghost and Roach are put into a squad together not with price. Work together for three or so years before the IED that wounds Roach.
Roach retires. Ghost bounces around positions because he’s legally “an asset” and not a man anymore.
Task force 141. Knows Gaz for about a year before he meets Soap in Las Almas.
General
He is triggered by Christmas and the holiday season, he found his family massacred on his birthday so neither Christmas or his Birthday are a positive association anymore.
The only person who’s given him a birthday or Christmas present since the massacre is Gaz, which didn’t upset Ghost like he thought it would. Mostly because Gaz didn’t know and Ghost couldn’t have expected him to.
Does not have any technology besides a cellphone and a computer he is required to for his job. The only three non-work related numbers in his phone are his tattoo artist/piercer, Roach, and his therapist
He genuinely enjoys gardening and baking but doesn’t do them frequently because of his life status.
Has a terrible, terrible, terrible sweet tooth, when he can get away with it. When no one is around this man is putting 5 heaping tablespoons of sugar in his tea, but no milk. Never milk.
Doesn’t like hard or sour candy, but does enjoy chocolate and biscuits.
He can, and will, and frequently does, eat all three meals in one sitting. He will eat 400 grams of protein in 4,000 calories in 20 minutes. He eats alone in his room because this shit terrifies people.
Endothermic body build, he’s built like a rugby player. His musculature is not “lean and mean” he is built like a discus thrower.
VENUS DIMPLES
When in public only wears a black surgical mask so as not to frighten others
It’s specifically to cover his Glasgow smile and lip scarring, which is prominent on his lower face
Jeans, t-shirts, hoodies, trainers, the occasional football-themed jersey or cap, nothing special
He has a fake civilian identity that not even Price knows the details of for anonymity's sake.
Has a full sleeve of tattoos and also a patchwork arm sleeve
He's actually famous in the Manchester tattoo scene as a lot of apprentices' first human canvas, under his fake civilian name of course.
Originally he got the war sleeve after his first deployment but went back after he became Ghost to get a tattoo over Roba’s name that was burned into him
The first tattoo artist asked him what tattoos he wanted on the wall and he said “All of 'em.”
His current tattoo artist is a scarification expert, she helped him design a piece to cover Roba’s name on his left hip, it’s a memorial piece to his family with the names “Merideth, Tommy, Beth, and Joey” held on a scroll by an Angel with the massacre date in Roman numerals
He continues to go back to this artist whenever he wants new ink, she is also his piercer. He does not care about his body and the ink on it, so she tries to schedule apprentices with him as their first because he can sit well/is not picky about his ink.
She sends him various pieces of body jewelry for his piercings at random under the guise of “let me know how this goes, wanna know if I can recommend it” etc but it’s really because she cares about him but also knows he won’t let her get him gifts for no reason.
A massive picture of his pierced nipple is in her shop as an example of her work
Has a shitton of piercings including but not limited to:
Quadruple lopes
Two conch
Rooks
Helix
Flats
Industrial (left only)
Bridge (taken out, since healed)
Tongue
Smiley
Lower lip (taken out, since healed)
He’s missing his left nipple, so he has both a vertical and horizontal nipple piercing on his right
4 Jacob’s ladder
Prince Albert's
Ghost wanted a married life and a family before Roba but does not anymore. He intends on dying in the field, he does not think about kids or retirement or alternative careers or dating. He loved Joseph and Tommy and Beth and his mum with all his heart and was a little jealous of the happy companionship they'd found for themselves, he stopped wanting it when he realized how quickly it could be taken away.
Typically avoids attachments because he knows how “loose ends” can end up harming loved ones. He has failed at this, very very very badly.
Ghosts most toxic trait is that he is falsely cynical. He will tell himself til he's blue in the face that he doesn't really care, it doesn't really matter, he doesn't really deserve love, that it's just not important when in reality he cares deeply. Caring is a liability so he tries very hard to cut that part of his brain out, he works out, he doesn't socialize, he avoids attachments because he is convinced he will ruin it for others. He doesn't even know what it is, until it's too late, just like how it took Johnny in Las Almas almost dying for him to open up to him.
Talents, special bonds, ETC
Trained to be a butcher in high school, before he and Roach joined the army. He retained his butchering and knife skills from this time.
Phenomenal aim, he can throw even the least aerodynamic thing and it will hit it's target.
He is a great baker, but a terrible cook besides grilling. No one knows its him, but he will leave trays of fresh baked goods in base rec-rooms.
Surprisingly, he is the softest on recruits when they mess up. He has an uncannily calm ability to diffuse most any situation and turn it into a learning experience, he also will not tell Price if he doesn't think it's that bad.
The inverse of this is if it's bad, his explosion about it is fucking bad.
Kids gravitate towards him and when push comes to shove he is great with kids. He is not terribly comfortable around children but kids love him. Its bittersweet because they remind him of Joey.
Is incredibly close with both Gaz and Soap but in different ways. He sees them both as reflections of him and Roach. As much shit as he gives them, he could not see himself without Gaz's quiet and calm understanding helping him remember how to be human or Soap's loud and explosive personality helping him remember just what being alive feels like.
Price may see Ghost as an equal, but Ghost does not see Price as one, he considers Price very far above him in every possible way. He does not know what Price sees in him.

Thesis Writing
Tumblr media
Realistic Goal Setting
One of the most critical aspects of thesis writing is setting realistic goals. Simply stating, “I’ll have my thesis written in 4 months,” can be overwhelming and counterproductive. Instead, break down this over arching aim into manageable goals. Setting smaller milestones, like completing specific sections or chapters within shorter time frames, provides a sense of achievement and maintains motivation.
Initial goals should be realistic, based on your personal working habits and prior experience. Many underestimate the time required, especially without prior experience in writing such extensive documents. Different tasks, like experiments, lab presentations, or conferences, will also compete for your time. Setting achievable goals and securing “easy wins” early on, such as completing a subsection of the Methods chapter, can build confidence and create a sense of accomplishment. As you progress, gradually set more challenging goals to push yourself further.
Organization
Tumblr media
Effective thesis writing necessitates thorough preparation and organization. Before starting, ensure you have all the necessary information and materials. This includes:
Drafts of figures for each chapter, especially the Results.
Collated and analyzed raw data with clear statistical analysis descriptions.
Knowledge of the sources of equipment, chemicals, and composition of solutions.
A comprehensive bibliography using a reference database.
Having all this information at your fingertips prevents disruptions and ensures a smooth writing process. Understanding your data is crucial; conclusions cannot be drawn without knowing the outcomes of your experiments. Hence, organized data collection and analysis are essential to avoid any surprises during the write-up.
Thesis Content and Writing Process
Tumblr media
A typical thesis includes the following sections: General Introduction, Methods, Results (with several sub-chapters), Overall Discussion, Bibliography, Acknowledgements, and Indexes. The suggested order for writing these sections is:
Methods: This chapter should be straight forward, detailing what you did and how. Be careful to avoid plagiarism, even in standard protocols, and ensure the inclusion of all methodologies used, especially for final experiments.
2. Results: Start with the easiest chapters or those that may form the basis of a manuscript. Results chapters do not have to follow the chronological order of experiments or the order they will appear in the final thesis.
3. General Introduction: This is often the most challenging part to write. It should provide a historical and contemporary assessment of the literature in your research field and outline the thesis focus. Creating an outline early in the process can help manage this chapter, breaking it into subsections for manageable writing and frequent revision.
4. Overall Discussion: This chapter should synthesize your findings, placing them in the context of your research field. Avoid repeating discussions from individual Results chapters.
Illustrating Your Thesis
Tumblr media
Effective illustration of your data through figures is crucial. Good figures tell a story and provide a lasting legacy of your work. Tips for creating effective figures include:
Legibility: Use readable font sizes.
Consistency: Maintain consistency in data presentation.
Separation of panels: Use separate figures when possible to avoid clutter.
Color usage: Be mindful of color use, ensuring accessibility for color-blind individuals and black-and-white print versions.
Figures should be intensively revised and adapted, allowing time to master your figure-making software. Informative figure legends are essential, conveying the “take-home” message clearly.
Communication and Feedback
Maintaining communication with your supervisor throughout the writing process is crucial. Early feedback can prevent extensive revisions later. Schedule regular meetings to discuss drafts and incorporate feedback aimed at improving your work. This collaborative approach ensures your thesis aligns with academic standards and expectations.
Rewards and Relaxation
The thesis writing process can be exhausting and frustrating. Realistic goal setting should include rewarding yourself for completing tasks. Balance work and relaxation to maintain productivity and avoid burnout. Remember, completing your thesis is a significant step toward your career advancement.
Preparing a Manuscript for Publication
Tumblr media
Thesis writing often leads to the preparation of manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals. This process involves:
Ensuring your study has a clear hypothesis and contributes significantly to the field.
Drafting Methods and Results sections first to highlight any missing data or additional analyses needed.
Writing a concise Discussion that places your findings in the context of existing research without recapitulating the Results section.
Finalizing Key points summary, Abstract, and Introduction after drafting the main content to ensure focus and clarity.
Following ethical and statistical reporting policies, including providing detailed Methods and ensuring data reproducibility.
Conclusion
The process of writing a thesis and preparing manuscripts is iterative and requires careful planning, organization, and communication. By setting realistic goals, staying organized, and seeking continuous feedback, you can navigate this challenging task effectively. Remember, your thesis is a significant milestone in your academic journey, paving the way for future research contributions and career advancements.

I mostly eyeballed it
is it a good balance of setting information and then character information? is it delivered well? does it get across what it's trying to get across?
VCASTERS: NEW WAVE OF ANIMATED PERFORMERS BECOME INTERNET’S NEXT BIG THING
WIRED Magazine Staff - Business & Tech - Oct 07, 2010
Justin Kan never intended to be a political figure.
“We’d just sold off our calendar app for a quarter million dollars,” Kan said in an interview with WIRED. “And Y Combinator was like ‘okay, show us what else you got.’ And I had the idea kicking around in my head of live-casting my life for years -- a way for people to feel like they were just hanging out with someone. They thought it sounded like it had potential. So they said, ‘go ahead,’ and they gave us the capital to get started. The hardest problem was the technology. We didn’t have cameras or Internet connections that could handle it. We spent most of 2006 creating what turned out to be a backpack-sized computer I’d wear that converted the analog camera feed into a digital stream.”
He laughed and ran his hands through his hair. “We were so focused on the project we kind of ignored everything else happening in the world.”
What was happening in the world, of course, was the Kira killings. By December 5, 2006, master detective L had confirmed that criminals all over the world had been dying by unknown means, all of whom had their faces and names publicly released. Whoever was doing it lived in the Kanto region of Japan, and was dubbed ‘Kira,’ the English word ‘Killer’ with a Japanese accent. Suddenly, the issue of public visibility was politically fraught, a battleground between pro- and anti-Kira activists.
Kan’s project, Justin.TV, was scheduled to launch in the middle of March, 2007.
“At first I was amazed. I had over a hundred and fifty thousand concurrent views just to see me live my normal life.” He laughed once more. “Then I had two different SWAT teams called on me at the Smoothie King.”
Viewers couldn’t determine if Kan’s activity was a statement of support for Kira, declaring he was unafraid to let his face be known because he wasn’t a criminal -- or if it was a statement in defiance of Kira, that he refused to let fear of Kira prevent him from appearing in public. “I wasn’t making a big statement,” he said, “I just wanted people to feel like they were hanging out with me. So now I’d just spent all my venture capital and a year and a half of my life developing the technology for someone to stream their real life to the world, and the world decided that wasn’t gonna fly. So I thought, ‘Well, I’m doomed.’”
But salvation came from an unlikely place: animation.
“I still had people interested in justin.tv, like ‘Could I do something like this?’ A lot of people who were just like me, who didn’t care about the Kira politics, who just wanted to be able to feel like they were hanging out with someone. So we were looking into software that could recognize faces and blur them out of the feed, so nobody’s get hurt. But that’s impossible to do in real time without already marking the facial features. And I hear from some friends that they’re trying to do performance capture tech for the movie studios that need to quickly be able to convert a live-action performance into animation. And it hits me -- lifecasting, without the life. Real-time streaming, animated face.”
Thus, the virtual lifecaster, or “Vcaster,” was born. By applying facial makeup to help the computer identify and track their facial features, Vcasters can assume the identity of 2D animated avatars that look around, blink, breathe, and talk in sync with their real movements. Justin.tv is now the home of over 50 Vcasters with their own dedicated followings. The first few were normal people who held what’s known as “just chatting” streams, where they attempt to hold a conversation with another Vcaster or with the channel’s live chat. Quickly, the Vcasters realized what the audience was interested in: larger than life characters with fantastical anime premises, playing video games.
In a phone interview, the actress behind popular Vcaster “Gushi Geisyuku,” explained. “I think even playing a single-player game is a group activity. You know, like when you’re a kid, and everyone crowds around the arcade cabinet to watch one guy play the game really well. It’s a communal experience. Everyone is sort of partway playing the game themselves, so, it at least adds up to like ten, fifteen games being played. I think.”
Her channel, Voice_ofthe_Vampiress, is one of the top 10 Vcaster channels on justin.tv. Within the fictional framing narrative she’s created, her character is the servant of a vampire, “Countess Rikimaru,” portrayed by another actress who often plays cooperative games with her.
We were going to have this gimmick where my partner was a vampiress and I was her thrall, and she’d order me to do things,” the actress behind Geisukyu said. The terms of service of justin.tv prohibit divulging real identities, though the ‘past lives’ of many Vcasters are an open secret. “Because you need a hook, right? And a lot of people, you know, they’d like to be bossed around by a sexy anime vampire lady. And if you don’t, then, you can idolize her spunky assistant who always does her best. So there’s a lot of crossover appeal. Blood on your face messes up the face capture software, but you can just add it to the character model, so it’s just as good. But anyway, we had this whole thing where she was the powerful Countess and I was her enthralled servant. But the first few streams we had -- unfortunately this was before we figured out how to save the archive videos so you can’t look them up now -- her audio was just broken. We tried fixing it in the settings, we tried three new microphones, nothing worked. So I played up this story about how I was the ‘Voice of the Vampiress’ and her proclamations were too powerful and pure for mortal ears to hear. You know, like the guy who follows the Emperor around and he like whispers something in the guy’s ear and the guy repeats it to everyone because nobody else is cool enough to be allowed to hear what the Emperor’s saying. By the time we figured out how to fix it, I’d spun so much improv about it it was a defining part of our gimmick. So we leaned into it. I do all the talking, and my partner just emotes with me. It works really well.”
Geisukyu’s actress is optimistic about the future of Vcasting. “It’s great. It’s like a bunch of people all in a room together, hanging out. But hanging out with someone who keeps them safe from any Kiras. People are more afraid to go out and hang out these days, and I can’t blame them, so I think it’s good we can deliver some of that feeling to people in their homes. And then me and my partner, when we’re just hanging out playing a game like we were going to anyway, now we’re letting people watch us and we’re doing something good and we’re performing for people, which is important. People should feel like they’re safe and with friends, and if we can’t provide the real thing, then I mean giving like 50, 75% of the experience is still pretty good. It’s like, you know, you should have a whole home cooked meal but sometimes you just wanna get fast food and it’s not all the way as good but MAN are you glad it’s an option. So that’s what we’re doing. I think we’re really doing something positive for people. Yeah, I bet Vcasters are going to get way bigger in the future, and I hope I get lots of fans!”

Day 0 - rebooting
Hello, call me Mythgrippa! Nice to meet you, the name comes from two fascinations I have, myths and Marcus Agrippa (my favorite Roman). I am currently doing my final year of computer science and I've done a lot, I'll list them out in a different blog post but it was a lot a lot and I'm left with only one semester which I'm quite excited about.
However, I think I must have overworked myself to get to this point, like I'm truly exhausted all the time, can't really focus on my work and having constant feelings of stress and anxiety, I used to be a stallion programmer but I can barely write a few lines of code and not feeling mentally overwhelmed.
This morning, like in the night I woke up to go to the bathroom and couldn't go back to sleep so I went online and got a bit too curious and searched up why I'm like this and found an online blog post which explained all the symptoms I've been experiencing with pin point accuracy.
I'm mentally exhausted, it makes sense because I'm always thinking about whatever school work I have and trying to get good grades, sleeping deep into the night trying to get work done. My performance has been declining, I still get work done but my quality isn't what it used to be. I've also been neglecting self care and not going outside, my skin is starting to show, I'm black by the way and my tone has started feeling... spotty? I don't know, I don't like it. My self confidence has kind of diminished because of it so there's that as well.
So, I still have a lot of work to do, like a software project for school that I'm the leader of, so I have to be the technical lead and also the semester hasn't started yet so I've to prepare for that as well. These are my stressors. I've to stop this mental daemon from running all the time.
To accomplish this, the article I read suggested these 11 solutions
Eliminate the stressors
My stressors would be mostly work, I can't just simply eliminate it because I have to finish this semester, and its not something I can set aside, plus my software project with my group isn't going so well so we gotta work our butts off for that
Work-life balance
Alright, this is part I get because I honestly don't have a life. The closet life I have is the friends I hang out with at school when on break and also the tennis games we go to, but I've mostly been a work person. So, for starters I need a life!!! But where to start... maybe I should start. Perhaps restricting myself to working up to 6 hours or less per day?
I could play video games or watch movies, I mean... hm... I'll try out the other games and watch more TV, I haven't been reading any of my novels or play board games. I'm off Twitter and Reddit, I don't like scrolling mindlessly for hours.
Damn it!! I remember that one of my friends has my board games, no matter I'll just play on ipad, hopefully there are good apps in the app store. I'll see what my other friends have to say. Well I'll see what I will do
Clear your space
I suppose this means I should rid of what doesn't kindle joy, I'm in recess at the moment and I'm back home, I don't have a room of my own so I sleep in my little brother's room (which used to be mine before I moved to uni), the spare that I usually sleep in is occupied by one of my older brothers. This room is a mess and I really can't do much about it other than tidy some stuff but the way things are laid out is just so annoying, so much wasted space. But this isn't my room anymore so I can't really do anything major plus my energy is down the drain.
Schedule (and take) regular breaks
I should take breaks when working, I used to study using Pomodoro and it was quite effective I won't lie but I've lost some of my discipline, at least partly attributed to the main reason I'm writing this in the first place.
How did I go so many semesters without taking regular breaks, not even like five minutes, I'm really a mad lad. I'll try to take at least 5 minutes off per hour, that should make it easier, but what constitutes a break? Doing nothing? I suppose that works
Get outside
In terms of this, I try to go outside but the weather is just so cold, but the sun does feel good but I'm the type of person who likes dark and gloomy weather accompanied by rain and thunder storms, I just really like that, the rain drops crashing onto the roof or window, the warm clothing I get to wear!! Oh my goodness, it feels like a mental refresher because I naturally feel easy and relaxed when there's rain. But I'll try to go out, perhaps a jog every now and then?
Do something new
Something new... well I could really try that, I used to go to the gym but school got so hectic I had to cancel my membership but I think I'll go back since I believe the hardest semester has concluded (last semester was the hardest honestly and I'm glad I made it out alive).
I'll try out other types of sports because I want to regain my stamina and activeness, my right leg though... its fine I'll be fine, I'll buy better shoes and sports gear. I'll try to be healthier, eat my fruits daily, and drink plenty of water.
That's a lot of stuff, how will I manage though? I'll figure it out but at least the idea is there
Reduce screen time
I mean... even though its the start of recess and I'm done with my old modules and the new ones haven't started yet, I'm still checking my emails and notifications, I do have the group project, and I'm doing Computer Science, I need a computer to science god damn it, how am I supposed to reduce that. I'll let this one slide. Because I can't really digitally detox... I'm not ready for that or even see the need to, but I can reduce the amount of time I spend on my phone, no phone time between 10PM and 7AM, that worked before in the past. But as for computer time, yeah I can't really reduce that.
Find positive ways to distract yourself
I used to have this bad habit I'm still recovering, I tricked myself into thinking it could help get the "edge off", I regret it and I'm glad I'm not that person, incase you're wondering its not drugs or weed or alcohol or any bad substances... I've never done any of that, and NO I DON'T VAPE. I'm as a clean as they get, but there's always been something I've been struggling with for almost four years now but I think I've finally learnt to let it go for the better.
You could say it was a negative distraction for myself, but no more of that I just need a positive way to distract myself, perhaps calling up an old friend? I haven't spoken to a number of people, I am messaging someone but they're not a regular person I talk to because of odd response times but I'm one of those people who'll reply as soon as they see your message no matter how long you take because I get people have stuff to do or don't feel like replying at times, its completely normal.
Perhaps I'll start playing games again? But that can get out of hand pretty quickly, actually... having coffee with my best friend can work? Yeah, there are plenty, I'll just ask her (oh yeah, a bit of a rant but I'm a guy, my best friend is a girl so yeah that can be a thing, why don't people get it! Guys and Girls don't have to date to have fun, goodness I hate my class mates, for CS nerds they're sure talkative, they're nice people but JEEEEZ). I'll ask her if I want to be distracted, or my other friends as well
Take care of yourself
I need to eat nourishing food, I ate a lot of KFC and boy it ain't good for ya, but it helps fill me up but I'll try to be better than that and eat better. I'll start eating from this restaurant I frequent they sell some delicious and nourishing food. I'll also try to sleep by 10 and wake by 7, that should be plenty of rest yeah? I will drink water every day, trust me I'm a water freak.
Focus on what you can control
I can't really do everything, so I should be able to tell others what to do, I am group leader after all. I'll see what I can do and what should be done, I'll delegate and try to organize more. So, that the objective is very clear. I'm not a stallion anymore, I can't code for hours on end like I used to, but luckily there's capable members in my group so I'll delegate the work to them and do my group leader duties.
Talk to a coach or therapist
NO
Well that lists everything, I wrote so much without realizing it, this was all in one sitting so I'm impressed with myself. I always did enjoy writing stories, I'm not as creative anymore but when it comes to stuff like this, I have like 3 filled up diaries.
If you made it this far, I'm so impressed with you, thank you for taking an interest and reading my first public blog (I've written so many private ones that I'll never release because I'm so embarrassed plus its useless and uninteresting, like unfinished stories, other diary attempts, blah blah)
Well thanks again you and I'll see you in the next one
