Someone called me M. instead of Mr. or Ms. or any other gendered honorific for the first time recently, and I love that. It’s such a simple option, and I think this is the one for me.

Aww, people are unhappy because the CEO of the company they admire is long term planning instead of publicly punishing two people that were fired two years ago. Just because the company updated the family part of the business website (because of a concerted effort to stir 💩), only means they have their priorities straight. Acknowledging honorifics is such a NBD move. 🥱🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m not saying that they wouldn’t be treated differently in olden times, but social media seriously doesn’t acknowledge how much the grey rocking is hurting the idiots - their psyche and their popularity.

In several routes I’ve noticed that when MC is dressed as Yahiko, the lower retainers call her “Master Yahiko.” Is there a suffix in the original jp version, like -sama, that would end up translating to “Master”?

Master is translated from both -sama or -dono, and it's really inconsistent. I would imagine that "Yahiko" is a "Yahiko-dono" (Ranmaru is also a -dono sometimes). Hanzo is a Masanari-sama, though.

In real life Sengoku era, the modern day -san honourific does not exist, and -dono is the closes equivalent to it. Fellow vassals would typically call each other by [name]-dono. I would imagine some of the more history-conscious writers opted to use this honourific to give the story an archaic flavour.

The issue here being that there is inconsistency between what address do the character uses on each other due to outsourced writers coming in and out and never permanent, and for some reason nobody is mandating a consistent guideline of terminology or honourifics to be followed.

How would you place the -dono honourific, when in SLBP -san and -chan also exist (despite its anachronism)? It tends to become "Sir/Madam" or "Master" in translations, because in modern usage it's considered something of a "middle honourific" between -sama and -san.
