Steve and Eddie: Alternative ‘First’ meeting part 2.
Read Part 1 Here
Tumblr media
Eddie Munson never expected Steve to be his friend. He kept waiting for the former king to realise how different their two worlds were. When that day came, he hoped Steve could look back on his time spent with the strange Metalhead with affection.
Several months had passed since the two had their first encounter in the woods outside the trailer park, and he hadn’t scared Steve away yet. Eddie found the boy following at his side every other day when he wasn’t at work. He was loyal as a golden retriever and strangely, almost as happy. When he and Steve run into each other for the first time since Steve’s graduation, one thing was clear: Steve wasn’t happy.
Now, most days, he appeared more happy than not. Yet, he was still distant. There were things he was keeping close to his chest, but Eddie didn’t feel like he was close enough to push.
Eddie kept waiting for the moment he’d chase Steve away. He talked the guy’s ear off about Hellfire, now that the school year was back in full swing. They’d both agreed to keep Steve’s flock of wayward children in the dark about their friendship, lest they think Steve was using Eddie to keep an eye on them, ever the babysitter. Steve listened attentively.
He invited Steve around to watch obscure B-grade, horror schlockfests. There was no way he enjoyed it, but Steve stayed. He jumped at all the right times and laughed at all the wrong ones, just like Eddie. Steve was too good to be true. One day, something had to give.
When they drove together, Eddie played the music too loud and performed air guitar solos at stoplights. He’d even gone so far as to serenade Steve with KISS songs as the guy helped him put together a dinner that wasn’t from a microwave container.
He’d expected Steve to roll his eyes and call him a nerd, which admittedly he did. However, right after, he’d equipped himself with a wooden spoon and performed an equally cheesy rendition of a Bob Seger song.
Hell, once his parents were out of town and they’d stayed the night at Steve’s he’d shown Eddie his best impression of Tom Cruise in Risky Business, complete with high socks, a poorly buttoned button-down, and too-short, shorts. Eddie was so gone for Steve Harrington, and it was horrible because he knew something was going to go wrong.
He was sick of waiting for it to happen. The two had been friends for months, and Eddie was sick of holding his breath, with each passing day knowing that the hurt would be all the greater as his attachment to Steve grew.
Steve’s parents were out of town, which always made for a more relaxed Steve. He’d invited Eddie to stay the night at his place for the first time. Eddie realised what had to happen next as Steve invited him to crash with him in his bed.
This was the thing that would finally scare Steve away. This was the thing that would get Steve to finally give up his reformed jock status and call him a freak. He couldn’t share a bed with Steve without him knowing, it wasn’t fair.
“I kinda like taking the side next to the door. You mind taking the window side?” Steve asked so casually it made Eddie’s heart ache.
He found it hard to swallow as he bit the bullet and told Steve the thing he’d been dancing around for months.
“I’m gay, Steve.” He wished he’d been more eloquent, but he hadn’t. He spoke to the shitty plaid wallpaper, his words running together.
When he finally looked, he found Steve sitting on the bed, his wide eyes looking equal parts alarmed and confused. He wasn’t cursing at Eddie or chasing the guy out of his house, so far, it was going better than he’d expected.
“Uh... thanks for telling me, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to let you steal my side of the bed,” Steve finally replied. Eddie was goddamn floored.
“You heard me, right?” Eddie repeated. There was no way in hell this wasn’t the thing that chased Steve away.
“Roger Dodger. Loud and clear. You don’t like boobs,” Steve paraphrased as he wriggled under the covers. Eddie let out a sound between a snort and a sob because, holy shit, Steve didn’t care. He was also an absolute idiot, but that was expected.
“And you’re still cool with me sleeping with you?” Eddie asked.
“I don’t like to sleep alone much, anymore,” Steve spoke with a vague shrug of his shoulders. There it was again, the uneasy sense he got that Steve wasn’t telling him something important.
Eddie didn’t pry, because Steve hadn’t pushed when he’d just goddamn come out to him. Eddie slipped beneath the covers, closest to the window and lay beside Steve until the man fell asleep. Eddie couldn’t sleep, his head still reeling.
After an hour, he felt Steve twitch at his side and mumble something incoherent. Eddie stayed still, thinking the moment would pass, quick and painless as a sun shower. Instead, Steve started to thrash. Eddie sat up in bed, flicked on the lights, and gazed down at the former king’s pinched brows. It was hard to believe this was the same boy who’d stalked the halls of Hawkins High, looking seemingly untouchable from Eddie’s ranks amongst the outcasts and common folk.
“Stevie?” Eddie breathed, placing a hand on Steve’s shoulder in an attempt to wake him.
The other man’s body stilled beneath his hand, and his face remained contorted. In his sleep, he crept closer to Eddie, curling his body around him. He had no idea what the hell to do. Steve hating to sleep alone made more sense.
“It’s okay, Harrington. I got you. You’re okay,” Eddie mumbled, taking a risk and leaning down to card his hands through the man’s hair.
Eddie sat there for another half-hour, muttering quiet nothings until he stilled and slept peacefully.
When morning finally came and the two found themselves dancing around each other in the Harrington’s oversized kitchen, Eddie decided to broach the subject. Steve kept setting off alarm bells in his head, and he had no idea how to quiet them on his own.
“Steve, I know I’m a shitty listener because I love to hear the sound of my own voice, but you know, if you ever need to talk about anything, I’m here, right?”
Steve stepped back from the kitchen cabinet to get a better look at Eddie, his face the picture of conflict. He kept looking as though he were seconds from telling Eddie something before going dead quiet. Finally, he spoke.
“I don’t think I’m entirely straight.”
That hadn’t been what he was fishing for, but holy shit.
To make matters worse, Steve was sending him all the right goddamn cues. His eyes flickered to Eddie’s lips, then back to his face. He chewed on his bottom lip and ran his fingers through his carefully styled hair. Screw it.
Eddie crossed the space between them and smash their lips together, pushing Steve’s back against the cabinet. It was a car crash kind of desperation. Limbs and lips everywhere. Steve ended up on the countertop, his legs wrapped around Eddie’s hips, hands in his hair. Eddie’s head was a chorus of holy shit, holy shit, holy shit.
Eddie Munson never expected Steve to be his friend, but the one thing he’d never expected to ruin their friendship was a kiss.

hello !
i feel like i owe everyone some sort of explanation for why it's taking so long for the poll to get started considering it's been like a week since i planned for the the polls to start :(
i'm currently in the process of moving which while super neat and funky means that i don't have a whole lot of free time rn ?? and having started this while recovering from covid (i'm better now thankfully) wo much planning ahead means that now i kinda have to do everything all at once. it doesn't help that the new place i'm at doesn't have wifi set up yet and my reception is also not that great </3 </3 </3
i havent forgotten about this at all and i will get to it as soon as i can, but it might be a little bit longer than i originally planned and expected
thank you so so much for being patient w me and i hope the next time i post it'll be for the formal finalized bracket :'D
(also since it is taking longer than expected to get it out, here are the bracket and honorable mention playlists! i wanna have these ones out at least so it's easier to familiarize yourself w songs you might not know or just relisten to favorites that made it)

((it's technically the 22nd now because it's past midnight so!! this blog has officially been around for an entire month. honestly the month has flown by and the whole thing is still kinda surreal to me to begin with. like this legit just started with me wanting to do something cool and reconnect with people and maybe some of it was just nostalgia but really it was just. an idea of 'i wanna do something as some sort of thanks to the original since it means so much to me, but i also wanna bring ester back for cool stuff. solution? continuation' and once i got the go ahead it was just. i was so giddy and excited and honestly all i wanna do is just share this with people, i want people to see the care i have for this and stick around for a while. like it's slow and i only have 11 followers after a month, things aren't exactly super fast around here. but hopefully as time goes on and more asks come in and more people follow or interact or whatever, hopefully it'll build back up that sense of community the original had because that was one of my favorite parts abt it. and yes you guys can still send me characters and appear in the story people just haven't done that yet lol. 15 year old me was super stoked to play a part in something that meant a lot to me and it was sad after it stopped updating but i kinda just moved onto other things. but then i thought back on it and how it never really left my brain completely and well. now i'm here with my own take on things hoping to bring that sense of community back to other people because i wanna be able to make people happy with this stuff too. even if it's not exactly what was planned for the og, i hope you guys will like what i have in mind regardless because it really truly means a lot to me. sorry this got kinda rambly but i get that way sometimes. so to the people reading this who have followed and sent asks and stuff so far, thank you. literally couldn't have done this without you guys, and dungeon-raided too ofc for even allowing me to do this in the first place seriously dude you're awesome. absolute legend and i hope i'm doing this some justice so far lmao. out here trying my best and hoping i can make people happy with these silly little characters being put in not so silly situations. anyway tl;dr thank you guys for a very cool, albeit kinda slow, first month of rcr, i'm looking forward to more in the future and hope you are too. trust me i've got big plans for anyone who wants to stick around, and hopefully it'll be up to expectations. but yeah that's it for now, byee))

“And we’re on in five, four, three, two…give ‘em hell.” The roar of excited applause jumbles together with the late-night show’s opening theme and the screams of excited fans can still be heard even as Kirishima flashes a blinding smile to the camera.
“Good evening, everyone, and welcome to Heroes on Heroes! We’re so glad you’re joining us tonight, seeing as this is the finale of season one!” The audience cheers with fiery passion and it makes the three heroes onstage chuckle nervously. This was going to be a long night, especially if the superfans were crying after every word they spoke. “I’m Red Riot,” he pauses while the cheering erupts once again, “and I’m joined by my fellow pros, Chargebolt and Dynamight.” You wince from your place at sidestage from the sheer wave of noise that slams into your eardrums when the latter is introduced.
“Thanks for having us tonight, man,” Denki grins. He eagerly drums the armrests of his chair, to the left of Kirishima. “I’ve been looking forward to doing one of these since I saw Deku’s a few weeks back.”
“It’s a great concept, really. I love being able to just chat with you guys and shoot the shit about hero stuff. It’s so manly.” Kirishima turns expectantly to the other hero sitting to his right, whose hot-headed nature was blatantly obvious by how he was slumped in his chair, squinting slightly at the burning spotlights and clicking cameras. You admire Kirishima’s confidence in forcing Katsuki to say something. “What about you, Bakugo? How’re you feeling tonight?”
“I’m alright,” he shrugs indifferently. Your breath catches in your throat and you can hear the Dynamight agency’s publicist put his head in his hands. “It’s been a while, so it’s good to see you guys,” he adds with unexpected fondness and you exhale in relief. His eyes meet yours for half a second and he shoots you a wink that makes your knees wobbly. “I saw that save at the bridge collapse last week, Shitty Hair. Pretty decent work.” Kirishima blinks once, twice, and then glances at Denki. Katuski’s blank look narrows into a scowl. “The hell are you looking like that for? I got shit in my teeth or something?”
“No, no. Sorry, man,” Kirishima laughs. “I just wasn’t expecting a compliment from you so early in the show.”
“Yeah, we thought we’d have to booze you up a little more to get you to be nicer,” Denki jokes and he recoils a bit when he’s struck with a molten hot glare from the hero across from him.
“Whatever you’re about to say, bro, don’t say it,” Kirishima warns and the crackles in Katsuki’s palms gradually dissipate. “But, I’m wondering too. What’s with the good mood?”
“I guess I feel like playing nice tonight,” he answers cryptically, his gaze flicking over to you again with amusement. You can almost sense the fainting girls falling over each other in the front row. Kirishima’s attention subtly darts over to you and a knowing smirk grows over his face. It was the first time you and Katsuki were at the same press event, since you both thought it was too dangerous to sneak around until now. “But, talk about that bridge save. I don’t think a lot of people know that the guy was wanted by several agencies.”
“Ooh, yeah,” Denki agrees with a quick sip of his drink. He swallows and sets the glass down with a light thud. “He’d been giving us hell for weeks. It's not really the best matchup for a sand villain to be going up against an electric hero.”
“It was the sand villain and his wife, wasn’t it? That chick with the melting Quirk?”
“Yep, they were a nasty couple to deal with,” Kirishima confirms. “I had to keep track of this guy’s damn sand spikes and his wife turning the floor to goop at the same time.”
“Goop is a weird-ass way to put it,” Katsuki points out with obvious distaste.
“Yeah, but he was a pretty goopy guy.” Chuckles ripple through the audience and you can’t help breaking a smile too at Kirishima’s joke.
“I think for me, at least,” Denki adds, “the biggest pain was the fact that they were married, and they had, like, marriage telepathy or something.”
“Bro, I thought that was just me! Here I was, thinking that I’d incapacitated one and split them from the other, when bam! Both of them appear in front of me like a damn genie.”
“You ever have to deal with villain couples, Bakubro?”
“Nah, not recently. We’ve been doing a lot of big raids on all the crime families downtown.” He flexes his right bicep and pulls back the sleeve of his shirt to show a gnarly purple spot growing on his skin. “Got this little beauty three days ago from a neo-Hassaikai asshole.” You're not fazed by the ugly shade of the wound because you were the one who stitched up the...less visible results of the raid.
“Jeez, man,” Denki says in disbelieving awe at his friend’s injury. “If you ever need backup, we’d love to do a team up with you.”
“I think I’d rather die–”
“My agency would also love to team-up with you,” Kirishima interjects before Katsuki can finish his thought. The heart rate monitor of his publicist begins to rapidly beep behind you. “We can have a threeway team-up! That’d be pretty cool, don’t you guys think?”
“What if we all just merged into one big super agency? Like a big family?”
“That sounds like the stupidest shit–” Again, Kirishima cuts off Katsuki’s brash protests and saves them from being taken off the air.
"That would be so awesome."
“Would that mean we’d have to get pro-hero partners, too? Keep hero work in the family?”
“I think Salonpas would have heart palpitations if we said we were trying to keep hero work within the family,” Katsuki points out and his friends nod in agreement. “On another fuckin’ note, that Half-and-Half idiot keeps hogging the number two spot and it pisses me off.” Though you didn’t often encounter Todoroki while you were on patrol, you knew that he was adamant about keeping work life and family life separate. It made him even more of a dedicated hero and a recent bust of a notorious crime ring bumped him into the number two spot over Dynamight for that month. You didn’t hear the end of it from Katsuki.
“He and Deku just work really efficiently, Bakubro.”
“I can efficiently slam both their skulls into a–”
“You know what would solve that problem?” Denki butts in unceremoniously, covering up his harsh words for a third time. Katsuki grunts in response and the lightning-decorated hero gives him enthusiastic finger-guns. “Combining and making a family agency.”
“What are the chances that Sero would want to join too?”
“Probably pretty high,” Kirishima guesses. “He’s at my place every other week, anyway, so he’s basically my brother.”
“Alright, maybe this could actually work, then. I just need to find a smoking hot hero wife.”
“That’ll probably be the hardest part, buddy–”
“What about Bakugo?” You stiffen and the three guys turn their attention to a voice calling out from the audience. Speaking during the interviews was strictly prohibited until the question and answer section, but getting Katsuki’s attention was a surefire way to derail the entire episode.
“The fuck do you mean, what about Bakugo? Who the fuck said that?”
"Dude, just ignore them."
“Can’t be a family agency if Bakugo never gets into relationships,” the same nasally, irritating voice argues and your face feels like it’s been set on fire. Kirishima’s attention jumps to you for a moment and then back to his friend, whose palms are starting to spark like fireworks. “Do you just get no bitches, or something?” The audience gasps and security finally arrives to escort the disturbance out of the building. The director is ready to stop the cameras and jump to a commercial break, but Katsuki speaks before he can order the sound crew to cut the mics. To everyone’s surprise, his voice is nothing but amusement, like the insinuation didn’t bother him in the slightest.
“You think I don’t get into relationships?”
“Bakugo…”
“It’s alright, Pikachu. I really don’t give a shit about whatever that guy said,” Katsuki reassures his friend with a sly glint in his eye. His friends watch him warily, like a grenade on the verge of exploding. Once again, burning red eyes meet yours with a single question that you answer with a resolute nod. “I’m not gonna blow up, so stop looking like that. Really, I don’t care.”
“Why not?” A tense beat of silence passes, then–
“I thought you people knew that I’m married.” A shit-eating grin spreads across your husband’s face as gasps of shock burst from the audience. Kirishima and Denki both shake their heads in exasperation. They knew already, of course, but they didn’t expect him to reveal his relationship status as a result of a heckler. “Yep, going on a year and a half, now. Around five years together total coming this winter.” More collective cries of jealousy, surprise, and betrayal shake the building’s foundation. "If you don't believe me, ask these guys."
"Yeah, we were at the wedding, too. It's hard to keep it a secret when all of your friends are also high-profile heroes."
“Can you guys believe that he fell in love during the winter?” Denki’s thumb juts out toward his friend, who frowns at the mere mention of cold weather.
“I fucking hate the winter,” he grumbles.
“We know, man,” Kirishima says sympathetically, unsuccessfully hiding a chuckle. “You’ve been saying that since high school.”
“Yeah, and shit hasn’t changed,” Katsuki bites back with lighthearted indignance. “Look, they saved my ass when it was cold; how was I not supposed to fall in love with them?” To your delight, his complexion has turned a slightly darker shade of pink. “Yeah, I love them. What about it, asshats?”
“Is this a bad time to bring up the family agency again?”
“Let’s go to commercial before I blow this fucking chair to pieces.”

Fighting a losing battle (Lando Norris)
Even though Lando would never lash out, he didn't feel great after the race and he needed someone to be there for him
Note: english is not my first language. Another example of how whenever I see something I enjoy, I hyperfixate on it and I don't put it down until I get it done and how saying no is hard for me! Jokes aside, hopefully you enjoy it!
Thank you so much to everyone who likes and reblogs, your feedback is appreciated 🤍 and I'm taking requests so if you have any ideas or concepts you want to share, feel free to do so as I'll try to get to them the best I can!

Everyone expected the qualifying sessions to be tougher, but the MCL38 showed pace as Lando did beautifully going from Q1 to Q3,
The spirits were high in the garage as they congratulated eachother, some of the mechanics from Lando's side even flashing you two big thumbs up as they carried on what they needed to do to get the car back and prepare it for race day.
"I got P3!", Lando gave you a big smile that made his eyes squinty as he walked closer to you, having finished his media duties outside of the ones the social media team needed.
"Congratulations, baby! Only two tenths off of the RedBulls!", you cheered, wrapping your arms around his neck in a hug before kissing his lips.
"The pace is kind of there, and the weather for tomorrow looks nice, too, should be a good race!", he smiled, kissing your forehead one last time before he pulled you two apart, "are you good to wait here for me? The debrief should be long, but not gigantic".
"Yes, I'll wait here, go before they come for me and never let me be here again", you squeezed his hand before he let go, blowing you a kiss as he walked to the meeting room.
After the debrief, you went straight to a small dinner to celebrate Oscar's birthday and then back to the hotel, "would you perhaps want to shower with me?", you mused as Lando set his backpack in one of the chairs, "yes, sounds great", he smirked as he followed you into the bathroom.
You both peeled away all the clothes on your bodies, Lando doing it faster than you and turning on the water so it would warm up, "baby, you're so gorgeous", he groaned, taking your hand when you took off your panties and pulling you to him, his hands grasping your hips.
Lando couldn't take his eyes away from your body, whispering "I can't believe you're all mine" in your ear while squeezing your thighs, lightly tapping your butt and feeling your body jiggle from the small impact, "I love you, baby".
"I love you too, Lan", you let your fingers trail all the way from his damp curls to his chest, following the delicate lines and kissing his wet chest.
"Can I wash your hair?", he asked as he got the bottle from the indented shelf on the wall, letting you turn around and getting a full on view from your butt, sighing as he lathered the product on your hair.
Neither of you stepped inside the shower with a full on shower sex moment in mind, feeling satisfied with just spending intimate time together and caressing eachother's bodies to show how much you appreciated eachother.
"I want to wash your back", you claimed, Lando turning around this time and letting your rub his skin, delicate fingers untangling some knots and relieving pressure on his muscles before he felt your lips littering kisses everywhere you could reach. Any other time, he would joke about your infatuation for his back and how you seemed to prefer the part of his body that didn't show his face, but right now he was enjoying this as much as you were.
"Careful, don't slip", Lando encouraged you as he wrapped the towell around you after he did the same to himself, holding your hand as you stepped out and into the bedroom, changing in your sleeping attire, so shorts for him and a nightshirt for you.
You brushed your teeth together and did your skincare routine, kissing Lando's lips before putting on your lip balm.
Lando spooned you on the bed, tucking you in properly and kissing your cheek, "Good night, my love, sleep tight", he whispered as you softly snored away for the night.
You certainly weren't the point person any team would go to have opinion on any engineering or performance matters for the cars, but you weren't a stranger to it either.
The red flag at the beggining of the race definitely opened the possibility for tyre changes, but the team seemed happy with how they were running.
After the restart, everyone recognised the efforts Lando was making to hold his P3, Jon exchanging a few words with you every now and again, going as far as pointing out how long Charles' stint was to with those tyres, "He's loosing grip, though", you pointed out.
When you heard the request for Lando to come to the pits, you scrunched up your face for good. It didn't feel right and, even though you didn't have the data in front of you, their explanation on the radio didn't make too much sense, "George will get in front at the pit lane exit", you groaned as you watched it happen on the screen.
Lando kept mostly quiet until the end of the race, and whenever he spoke, both you and Jon noticed the bitterness in his voice, exchanging a look with you this time.
At the end, Charles climbed up to fourth place and after a few brilliant overtakes from your boyfriend, he ended up in P5.
As he dropped two places, your heart sank, realising that the team's strategy really didn't work well and that the looks you exchanged with your boyfriend's trainer definitely had some reason to it.
Lando went on for his media duties, politely answering all the questions and refusing to engage in the ones where the reporters mentioned a potential mistake from the team and wanted to perhaps get a more efusive reaction from him.
As Lando walked closer to the garage, you could feel an antsy aura around it, quickly dissipating as he smiled and thanked them for their work and efforts, mentioning the debrief and how they would discuss it then.
You set the headphones back in their place and leaned against the wall on the corridor to the driver's rooms, not wanting to be in the way as everyone tidied, organised and got ready for the work they still had ahead.
Lando walked by you, squeezing your waist and kissing your forehead, "I'm going to change for the debrief, then we need to record the wrap up video of the weekend and then we can go to the hotel, okay?", he checked with you.
"Of course, I'm not in a rush, love", you smiled, kissing his cheek and squeezing his hand in yours for a bit.
Patting Oscar's back as he passed by you, you found a spot in the lounge where you could hang out, overlooking the track while reading your book when your phone beeped with a text from Adam.
From Adam
Hey, Y/N!
I'm sure Lando is in debrief now - we dropped him a text -, but we just wanted to know how he is doing after that race!
Love, Adam and Cisca
The fact that his parents trusted your enough to send that message was enough to warm your heart, quickly typing a reply so they wouldn't get worried.
To Adam
Hello! I guess it's good morning for you 😊
Yes, and I think this is going to be a long one! He's okay, not showing much, you know how he is - if he let's me, I'll get more information out of him!
From Adam
Yes, early wake up call today for us!
We're glad you're there with him, definitely eases our worries 🤗
Smiling at the text, you couldn't help but agree. You knew Lando well enough to the point where you knew where his mind was taking him - dating for almost four years did that to a couple -, so you were happy that maybe you could be a sounding voice when it was just the two of you.
"Video is filmed - I have my shoes on now -", Lando offered and you quirked a brow at him, "so we can go, I'll just tell Jon since he's riding with us", he smiled, kissing the top of your head before you got up, grabbing your cardigan from his driver's room and bidding goodbye to everyone.
As you were being driven back to the hotel, Lando sat next to you while Jon was sitting facing you two, you let your fingers walk along your boyfriend's thigh until it found his hand, touching it with your pinky to begin with and test the waters. Lando reacted quickly, lacing your hands together and giving them a squeeze while looking at your eyes as a silent thank you, a tight lipped smile playing on his lips.
"Tomorrow's flight is quite early, so we'll just meet here and then head to the airport then?", Jon checked with Lando.
"Yes, I'll send you the details", the McLaren driver retrieved his phone from his pocket, tapping the screen as he confirmed the details of the flight.
"Have a good night then, see you tomorrow!", Jon said as he waved, getting inside his room before you and Lando made your way to the one you spent the last couple of nights in.
Lando went straight to the bathroom, feeling bad for needing to be on his own for a bit. You had been there for him for all the highs and the lows and he recognised the voice in his head saying he didn't deserve your support was probably lying to him. Still, he quickly showered alone and got out of the bathroom, a white towell hanging low on his hips as he looked for his shorts and underwear in his suitcase, putting them on and scrunching up his curls with the towell in an attempt of drying the locks while giving them some shape.
After placing the towels back in the bathroom, he got back to the room and looked at you, making you stretch your arms so he could lay his head on your chest and cuddle himself against your body.
"Hey, I love you and I'm proud of you", you said, wanting to push the subject but not wanting to do something he didn't want to.
"Will you still love me if I never get on the podium again?", he asked, half joking but also half speaking his true thoughts.
"Lando, I'll love you regardless of whether or not you stand on the podium or anything like that", you stated, "a year ago, P5 and P8 would've been a good result for McLaren and this weekend, a series of events can explain most of what happened for that - the development they have done and have been working on will pay off".
"We didn't bring anything new and still managed to be the third fastest car on the grid", Lando agreed with you, "but it's like I'm fighting a losing battle. RedBull are in their own league and Ferrari brought big, positive changes - it's everything from the speed, to how long they can go for, how longs they can stretch their stints and so on", he sighed, "I can't do much more than what I'm doing, can I?", he mused.
"You got the maximum points you could get considering where your car stands compared to the others, Lando, you did the best you could", you comforted.
"We spoke about it in the debrief and we all learned with it, it seems", he commented, "and overall, that was the most we could do".
"It was, and I'm so proud of you, your fans are proud of you, the team are proud of you, your parents are proud of you - have you texted them back?", you questioned.
"How did you know they texted me?", he raised his eyebrows in question. They always called him after a race, so it wasn't like you knew it out of habit.
"Your father texted me asking how you were - they were a little worried, too", you noted.
"I'm surprised mum didn't call you straight away - she's not shy on telling her children in-law how much she loves them, but I swear every time she talks about you, it's like you've been one of our own forever, which is only a matter of time realistically", Lando said, not thinking much about it until the words sunk in, "what I meant was that she always says you're really good for me and that I'm really lucky to have you - which I agree with - and I was-", he rambled on and you were sure he wouldn't shut up unless you stopped him.
Kissing his lips once he shifted enough and looked up at you, you cupped his face, "I lived hearing that", you mumbled.
"Good, that's good", he assured, "but yes, I texted them back and I called after we filmed the video - mum told me to give you a kiss on her behalf", he smirked.
"I haven't received such kiss", you pretended to wonder, looking around the room, "maybe I need to go and get that kiss from someone el-", this time you were the one interrupted with a bunch of kisses being pressed all the way from your forehead to your chin, stopping on your lips a couple of times before Lando settled his chin back above your sternum.
"I have no idea what I did to deserve you in my life", Lando mused, a smile playing on his lips as his hands crawled under your t-shirt and squeezed your tummy and waist softly, "but I'm glad you're here, with me", landing his head back in your chest, "I love you".
"Is that comfy?", you giggled, "your boobs? Always! They're the best, baby", he smiled, seeming a little more positive from the initial assessment you did on his mood earlier.

You knew this would happen. Once your relationship with Bruce got out there would be an influx of love and hate. You also knew that everyone else knew that as well. It was common knowledge than anyone around a celebrity of sorts would experience that.
Of course you did the normal things, turned off most notifications and only looked through areas online you knew would mostly be safe. You blocked tags and and only followed people you knew or ones who didn’t post about drama.
When you did stumble onto hate, you moved on. If someone kept sending you nasty messages you blocked them, when they made other accounts to keep sending the same things, you changed your settings so only those you followed could message you.
It wasn’t something you wanted to deal with but it was something you could handle. Something you started mentally preparing yourself for when Bruce’s attention on you lasted more than 4 dates, even more so when you caught yourself daydreaming about him.
You were not going to let random bitter people on the internet destroy your happiness like they did their own. Your family however, wanted to destroy what was left of your haters' happiness. Something you were trying to curb, but trying to tell a family of vigilantes who considered you the best mom in existence not to destroy your haters was like talking to a brick wall. Over the years, you had gotten used to it. It barely even registered anymore. But there had been a recent influx of the hate and while it didn’t bother you, it bothered the rest of your family. None of them could stand people talking bad about their mom.
While you hadn’t been there while the older ones were young, the second you had introduced yourself to them, you had taken a very important role in their lives. None of them realizing it at first. All of them had gotten used to the random women Bruce brought home that it took a little while for them to realize how important you were.
Dick wasn’t sure at first. Thinking you were just another girlfriend that wouldn’t last long. So he didn’t really interact with you much. Ignoring your existence when it wasn’t too rude, or at least obviously rude. Until one night when he was staying at the manor and had a nightmare about his parents death.
Bruce had an open bed policy. As long as there was still room for him, his bed was open. A policy he had started when Dick had gotten old enough he was worried he wouldn’t be allowed to go when he had a nightmare. Bruce had always reminded all his kids, that nightmares don’t go away just because you’re older and that needing comfort wasn’t something they would outgrow.
The thing was, you were there. Girlfriends didn’t mind when children did it but they never liked it when his adult kids did it. The shaking in his hands and the way he saw them fall in the darkness of every blink told him the only way he was getting any sleep was with someone.
Hopefully he could just slip into Bruce’s side and leave before you woke up. That was the plan until he found Damian on Bruce’s side and you had been pulled closer to Bruce taking up what was left. You moved a little and Dick took that as his sign to deal with it himself until he heard you whisper his name. He hummed so you knew it was him and not some random stranger standing over Bruce’s side of the bed.
“Nightmare?”
“Yeah.”
“Come on.” You lifted the blanket next to you, “Bruce told me you guys come here when you have nightmares. There's plenty of room over here for you.” Dick hesitated for a second before giving in. He needed sleep anyway. You weren’t when you said there was plenty of room, Dick had most of your half of the bed. Once he had settled on his side, facing away from you, he felt you pull the blanket over his shoulders.
“Night Dick, sleep well.” For some reason, that was what did it. Once the tears started they didn’t stop. Silent sobs made him shudder and he felt one of your hands gently rubbing his back. “Oh Dick.” There was no pity in your tone and he found himself rolling over and curling into you. Your chin resting on his head while you rubbed his back.
The next day, he followed you around like a puppy. Your side of the bed became his favorite when he had nightmares and it wasn’t long before he turned to you for general comfort over anything.
Jason met you at his grave. Neither of you exchanged words, but he caught something in your gaze he didn’t quite understand. He also wasn’t sure why you were at his grave either, he didn’t know you when he was younger.
When he saw the Gotham News post about Bruce and Your 2nd anniversary, it brought more questions than answers. Why were you at his grave alone? Let alone longer than a few seconds. It was an odd way to gain more of Bruce’s affections.
Every Tuesday you would be there, leaving flowers and talking softly to the stone. Every time you left, you would smile and nod, the look in your eyes he couldn’t figure out was still there. Every time he would strain to heat what you were saying and only be able yo a few words here and there.
6 months into it, the routine changed. You brought a blanket and Basket with your usual flowers. You did what you normally did with the flowers but instead of talking to the stone you waved him over. When he didn’t move, you stopped what you were doing and looked at him.
“Jason Todd, I have been keeping your secret for 6 months. Helping me spread this blanket and having lunch won’t change it.” He stared at you while you waited expectantly. Eventually when he could get himself to move, he came over and helped. He sat down where you motioned for him too, all while trying to figure out how you knew.
“Bruce mentioned this used to be your favorite when you were younger so I asked Alfred to teach me how to make it. I hope it's up to your standards.” He looked at the plate of food you handed him. It was almost overflowing with food, all of which reminded him of the good times back at the manor before he died. “Alfred also sent your favorite cookies when he heard I would be eating at your grave.” The bag of cookies was placed next to the basket, within easy reach.
“Why?” Was all Jason managed to choke out around the lump in his throat.
“I decided early on in life, no matter who I was with, I would love their family as my own. My grandfather hated my grandmothers side and it caused a lot of pain in all the generations. I decided I would never do that to another family.” Jason found himself back in control enough to start eating.
“So when I started dating Bruce and he told me about you, I decided to treat you like you were my own. Even though I had never met you and you were dead. Most of what that meant was keeping your grave clean and always making sure there were fresh flowers. While I did that, I would tell you everything that was going on.”
“How did you know it was me?”
“Your eyes, they may be a different color but they looked too similar. So I did a little digging and found pictures of your biological pictures to place the face shape it matched. I think however you look more like Bruce then either of them.”
“Are you going to tell them?”
“As much as I would love to. It’s your choice. You’ve been keeping this to yourself for a reason. If I can help you get to a place to tell them, I would love to. But I won’t say a word until you're ready. However, I would like to keep having lunch with you.”
A year later, Jason reintroduced himself to the rest of the family a lot calmer than originally planned and was glued to your side anytime he felt overwhelmed that night. Every Tuesday after that, lunch was scheduled.
Tim was nervous when it came to you. He was still living in the manor so he saw you more than the older two. You always seemed nice and respected his privacy but Bruce was always with you so you obviously would.
It was when he wasn’t around that worried Tim. Bruce attracted golddiggers and they were always mean when Bruce wasn’t there. When you were given a copy of the key, Time braced himself.
Of course he knew that if he told Bruce anything that happened like that, Bruce would break it off. He had always told them that they came first. But he also knew that Bruce liked you a lot. All the other ones Bruce liked a lot that turned out to be horrible, he broked it off. Tim had seen how it had made him upset and he really hated doing that to him. Maybe he could deal with it for once.
So when Bruce left for a business trip, Tim was Expecting the worst. What he didn’t expect was for you to knock on his door and ask if you could join him. When he agreed and stepped back so you could come in. He expected you to go to his bed or his desk chair not, the oversized bean bag on the floor.
“I have a question for you but you can’t tell Bruce yet.” Here it comes. “What would a funny way to tell him I know he’s Batman?” Tim wasn’t expecting that one. “I was thinking a lot of batpuns but his paranoia is too bad for that.”
“How did you figure it out?” You walked him through your process and didn’t say anything as he wrote parts of it down. Once you finished explaining the process for Bruce, you explained any way it was modified in figuring out their identities.
“Who do you think I am?”
“Red Robin.” Tim found himself getting excited.
“You know those notes you leave him in his office?” You nodded. “You should leave those in the Batcave.” You considered it but your thinking was interrupted but Tim shouting.
“No! One night when we’re all in the cave, you could bring some snacks!”
“You just want snacks when he’s lecturing you don’t you?”
“Maybe..”
“Alright, but you have to tell the others so they can tell me what snack they want.”
So Tim slowly and carefully went through all his siblings, letting them know you figured it out, Bruce didn’t know, and what the plan is. Every time he relayed a snack to you he’d watch how carefully you’d write it out to make sure you had it correct or look up recipes if you couldn’t find it in stores.
Two weeks later, Tim was the one who sent the signal in the middle of a lecture everyone was receiving and he got a front row seat to see Bruce’s face when you walked in and handed out snacks before giving him a kiss and telling him to be nice and leaving.
Any other worries were left in the dust when you helped him win the nerf war for the best seat in the home theater. He thoroughly enjoyed his spot next to you while Bruce swore revenge from the other side of the room.
Damian treated you politely but that was it. His mother was still alive and he didn’t want another one, one was more than enough. Not only that, but you were weird.
One time when you were over, you found one of his report cards. Immediately you were praising him. He didn’t understand why, he had basically failed one of his classes with an A-. You should be disappointed like his mother would be, not hanging it up on the fridge and telling people not to touch it. Definitely not taking him out for ice cream and calling him so smart. He definitely shouldn’t be feeling any pride when he walked past it, but he still was.
When he was practicing his violin and Messed up, you were supposed to tell him to stop failing, that he should be better. Not smiling at him and telling him he’s making good progress. You should be telling him that he should have memorized that piece in a day. He shouldn’t be feeling any pride when he finally does memorize it, it took him 4 days to learn it.
When he was struggling to learn a language, you were supposed to tell him to work harder. He could do better, after all, he already knew so many. Instead you just smiled and recommended a break to refresh his mind.
When he snapped at you in Arabic, he expected you to be upset since you didn’t know what he said and it was obviously not something nice. Instead you set the rule that if he was going to use Arabic to speak to you when upset, that he had to teach it to you and if what he said wasn’t something you had learned yet, he had to tell you in english. When he told you what it meant, you didn’t even get upset. He definitely shouldn’t be as excited as he was when you actually started learning.
So many more little things piled up, leaving Damian confused. The differences between how you and his mother treated him was so big he didn’t know how to process it, he liked you and all the little things made him happy in a way he hadn’t really felt. But he still loved his mom, When he had enough of it, he asked you to stop. He still wanted to love his mom. Once again, you did something you weren’t supposed to.
“Oh Damian, I’m not trying to replace your mom nor am I trying to make you feel like you can’t love her or she doesn’t love you. Your mom and I show our love in different ways and its ok for you to love or like both of us. You mother loves you and she will always be allowed in your life if thats what you want.” You weren’t supposed to do that, but Damian was really glad you did.
Barbara wasn’t sure how you would react to her. She wasn’t just Bruce’s kid. She had a loving family she went back to every night. Most people weren’t really a fan of that, one of Bruce’s past girlfriends had some strong and hurtful things to say about it.
When you took her for a day out, she found herself warming up to you but still waiting for the other shoe to drop. One of the new places you had planned to go, didn’t have wheelchair access. Like all the other girlfriends who had done this, she expected you to be annoyed that your plans had to change or you would just leave her outside while you shopped.
You didn’t seem to notice her hesitation, just looking at what was next on your list and starting the trip there. When Barbara stared a little longer at a new movie that was in theaters, tickets and snacks were bought and you listed to all the lore she told you about before it started.
While it had been a nice day, Barbara wasn’t convinced. One day was easy to fake. Sure she had lots of fun, but Barbara was used to fakes when it came to Bruce’s girlfriends. Of course she wasn’t complaining about you being nice, she just wasn’t sure how long it would last.
“Did you hear about that boutique?” She looked up from her food to look at her dad. “That new one that you tried to go to with Bruce’s girlfriend? Well there was a report that it didn’t meet the Americans with Disabilities act and the boutique is in trouble. People are speculating they’ll have to close down.”
Later that night, Barbara looked into it. They were in trouble, pretty big trouble from the looks of it. Towards the end of the article she found the name of the person who reported it, she wasn’t sure who she was expecting. Not you for sure but the Name Y/n L/n took her by surprise and filled her chest with feelings she couldn’t describe.
The boutique ended up closing but a new one opened. Once it was open, you were the first to ask her to go. That weird feeling came back when she wheeled herself up the ramp and through the door you held open for her. Later that night, in the privacy of her room. She decided she liked you.
Steph seemed like she liked you, she acted like she liked you, she didn’t really like you. Sure you were nice, Bruce loved you, the others were warming up to you, but she wasn’t sure how to feel about you. So she stuck with not actually liking you but pretending to.
So when she was around you, it was all smiles and jokes. She wasn’t a big fan of it all but she did it because she knew you were important to Bruce and that was enough of a reason for her. She knew Bruce and the others could see through the act but as long as you couldn’t, that was enough.
When Bruce announced he had to leave for a business trip right before she could hand him the parents visit for one of her AP classes, something the new teacher liked doing. She tucked the paper away. When Tim gave her a questioning look, she shook her head and later swore him to silence.
Every time she heard someone mention their parents were going, she felt a pang of jealousy in her chest. Every time Tim mentioned bringing it up to you, she swore him into silence again. It wouldn’t be the first time no one showed up for her. She was however thankful you wouldn’t be at the manor as much so she didn’t have to pretend to like you.
When the day arrived, Steph was not having a good day. School dragged on slowly. Slower than normal. When school finally ended, she had to sit in the classroom and watch everyone else that was in her class leave and the parents of her classmates show up while no one was there or coming for her.
Someone sat in the seat next to her, she expected another family member of one of her classmates. Definitely not you. She couldn’t return your smile, too unsure of how you found out, the fact you actually showed up, and how she felt about you being there. You leaned a little closer so that the others in the room wouldn’t easily overhear.
“I know I’m not your parent and someone you just pretend to like so if you want me to leave I will. But I figured someone was better then no one. Oh, and Tim wanted me to tell you he didn’t spill. Your teacher called the manor because no one had RSVPed for you and I answered it.”
That night, as Steph showed off all her hard work to you, the charade fell. She actually enjoyed her time with you and the boost of pride as you oohed and ahhed over all her projects and listened to her explain all the little details. That night, Steph realized, she didn’t need to keep pretending. She liked you, until she found out you didn’t like her favorite show but a nerf war solved that.
Cass could tell you were different then the other girlfriends, your body language as you interacted with all of them showed it. However that didn’t mean she knew how to interact with you.
She had learned that she was fairly hard for new people to interact with. She also knew she had trouble interacting with people she wasn’t fighting. So it wasn’t a surprise when it started rocky.
What was a surprise, was when you found out she was still having trouble reading and writing, you stepped in to help. Well, that wasn’t the surprising part, a lot of girlfriends did that. The surprising part was the amount of patience you had when it was only the two of you.
When one method didn’t help, you tried another. Never once did you snap at her or call her a name. Everytime you got frustrated you would stop and look at her, say something along the lines of “If I had as much trouble with this as you do, I wouldn’t want to keep trying. You're doing absolutely amazing! I’ll keep looking for other ideas, but for now, lets take a break and get a treat.”
Cass wasn’t sure why that always made her feel better, but it did. Every treat you brought was something you made just for the tutoring sessions and it always reminded her of what Alfred had told her once. “Something made with love for you will always taste better.”
And when a method that made it a little easier to learn was found, Cass found herself smiling along with your cheers. Bad days where she couldn’t seem to make any progress were always met with the same excitement, cheers, patience, and treats that all the others were.
Cass still wasn’t sure of what to think of you exactly, but she knew she liked you and that you cared about her.
So when Tim saw the new rise in hate, a sibling meeting was called. They all went through each site, blood boiling as they saw what people were saying about their new parent. Plans were made, declarations of war were ready, and anger fueled all of them. Bruce could tell something was going on, but he wasn’t sure what it was and as long as it didn’t get out of had, he wasn’t sure if he had the energy to deal with it.
War was declared in an interview by Steph. The lady was asking questions when the topic switched to Bruce, then you. The reporter was clearly trying to subtly find some dirt on you and Steph was not going to stand for it.
“Oh yeah! Y/n! She’s the best!” She put on her best press face. Trying to hide her anger over the hidden intent. She didn’t have to lie or act when talking about you but the change in the lady’s face going to disappointment when she didn’t get anything she wanted was making her look very punchable.
“She’s always showing up for us and making sure we’re doing ok. If Y/n and Bruce were to break up, I think most of us would go with Y/n.” The way the lady kept trying to get anything really got on her nerves and Steph decided she needed to get out of there before she started using the lady’s face for target practice. You wouldn’t like that.
Cass was the first one to resort to violence. They had asked a thinly veiled question, basically asking if you were a golddigger. So she punched him in the nose and leaned down to flip the camera off. She hated interviews already but that made it so much worse. She hoped you wouldn’t be too upset with her punching the guy though.
Jason, surprisingly enough. Did not get violent… physically. He did however curse one out and threaten him when the reporter implied you were forcing them to say nice things. When the reporter kept pressing Jason broke his mic and told him if he ever heard him talking bad about you again, a broken mic would be the last of his worries. Jason knew you would be disappointed but he had held back, he didn’t shoot the guy like he wanted.
Tim threw his coffee at one reporter because he heard them say you were nothing but a regular person who didn’t deserve any attention. He then took over her segment, threatening the company to air it or he would make sure they went bankrupt. Once he finished his threats, anything he said was praising you name. Telling everyone how amazing you were and how much they all loved you.
Barbara made it a point to bring up everything you did for the community when they tried to throw some shade at you in an interview. She had documents to prove it and hacked their systems to add them into the interview so they couldn’t claim it was fake. She also made sure to run over his foot when she left.
Dick punched a reporter when they tried to ask him what you were really like behind closed doors. He told them the truth, that you were just as good, kind, patient, and loving behind closed doors as you were out in public. He didn’t throw a punch until the reporter disregarded that as asked again because she couldn’t be that good. Dick knew a lecture would be coming once you saw, but he would rather sit through a lecture then let anyone tarnish your name.
Damian spent 10 minutes cursing and threatening a reporter in Arabic when they asked him if you had ever hurt him. When he was done, he told them in english, that if he ever got asked that question again, he would impale them. He knew you were going to make him sit down and translate everything and the general response you would give but he didn’t care, no one speaks bad about either of his mothers.
Bruce figured out what was going on after Steph’s interview. He saw the ones where they assaulted or threatened the reporters and made sure his lawyers were on standby to keep the kids out of trouble. After all, he had seen more than they had.
He had watched as you tried to connect with Dick early on, how you worked hard to try and get somewhere. He had woken up before you when Dick had come in that night and heard how you handled it. He had woken up the next morning to find you holding Dick close, like you were trying to protect him from the nightmares. He had seen how you never turned Dick down when he wanted comfort, no matter how serious or silly the matter, and he had heard your excitement when you told him Dick liked you.
Bruce had seen the way you never missed a visit to Jason’s grave, on a visit of his own, he saw how much care you showed the stone marking it as his lost son. While he hadn’t been sure why it was alway the same time on Tuesday, he didn;t mention it. He felt the way you would sob in his arms after each visit, a year after the tradition started, you always said you had promised not to tell and he watched as you kept that promise even if it tore you to pieces. Once the shock and tears wore off for a little bit, he could see the trust that Jason had in you.
He heard the way you questioned if you should have a key to the manor, you didn’t want to make Tim uncomfortable in his own home, or how you questioned if you should visit while he was gone. Not wanting to stress Tim out when there was no reason too. He saw the way you and Tim grinned at each other when you brought snacks down for all the kids he was currently lecturing. He head the excitement in your voice as you told him about the tour Tim had given you of the Batcave and the shared laughter as you and Tim worked together to win the nerf war.
Bruce saw how you worked to give Damian the affection he didn’t think he needed. He felt you crying in his arms upset over the fact Damian thought you would be angry because he made a mistake or struggled in a class. He heard you practicing your Arabic as you got ready for bed and he watched as you stress paced over whether or not you said the right thing to him about his mother.
He saw how angry you had been when you came back from your day out with Barbara. He had heard your call with your lawyer as you tried to figure out what to do. He saw you going through the laws and making a list to make sure your lawyer didn’t miss any. He heard about the movie you didn’t particularly care about and the lore you remembered in case of another because you wanted Barbara to have someone she could tell all of her favorite things too.
Bruce saw the pictures you had taken from the school night. He heard all the details from you as you praised Steph’s work. He saw the way Steph stopped acting around you and the silly arguments the two of you would get into for fun. He heard the way you would listen to her as she verbally worked out her problems. He saw the way Steph looked for you in a crowd, the way she knew you were there but not where you stood exactly, the thought of you not being there never crossed her.
He saw the way you stayed up late, researching different ways to teach reading and writing. He heard the patience and kindness and you worked with Cass. He saw the way you always made a treat just for Cass to have after each lesson because you wanted to reward her hard work. He heard the way you cried for Cass when she had a bad day and got frustrated with herself because you knew she was smart and you wanted her to see it too. He heard your celebrations when Cass made any progress, no matter the size.
Bruce heard, saw, and felt the way you worked hard to have a relationship with his kids. How you had mourned for their losses, celebrated their wins, and felt their pain. He saw the way his kids blossomed under your care, growing to be better and more confident in themselves. The way you cared for them as if they were your own flesh and blood. So when he was asked about his kids behavior, he said as much.
“Y/n has worked hard to be accepted by them. She’s given so much of her time, effort, patience, and love and never wanted anything in return. She always shows up for them, no matter what the occasion is, big or small, it doesn’t matter. If they want her there, she’ll be there. Everytime they need or want her, she’s there. She never judges them and treats them as if they were her own blood. Of course their upset and lashing out, people are insulting the woman who has cared for them more then most of their biological mothers.”
Later, a clip of you scolding Bruce and all the kids went viral. While you were scolding them over their behavior and making the kids who had reacted with violence or threats write apology letters because asking mean questions does not make it right to respond badly especially when its someone just trying to start drama. Everyone one noticed that there was no actual bite to your tone and no anger when they all refused to stop acting like that. In fact, there was a small soft smile on your face as you shook your head at your family.

Hellow i would like to ask for a scenario with the hsr men (separately) in which they are at the beach with female reader and while she is tanning herself and laying on her belly she took off her bikini top since she doesn’t want a white line on her back..but she forgot that she took it off and got up and accidentally flashed them men and the rest u can make up..it can be sfw or nsfw.
(That happened to me today at the beach and i wanted to ✨perish✨)
Oh my god I am so sorry. I'm getting second hand embarrassment, I can't imagine what that was like for you. At least you're able to find some humor in it now, or hopefully you will soon.
Pairing: Blade, Dan Heng, Gepard, Jing Yuan, Luocha, Sampo, Welt x Fem!Reader
Tags: fluff, suggestive, beach day, teasing, massage, bikini, accidental exposure, protectiveness
A/N: This is kind of why I always wear those almost like sporty/training two piece swimsuits. They never slip off.
Blade takes the opportunity to stare before he remembers that it's not just the two of you at the beach. As much as he likes your boobs he doesn't want other people looking at them. His reaction is to put himself in between you and any onlookers, that way he still gets to enjoy the view and everyone else who passes by has nothing to look at.
Dan Heng blinks a few times and asks you if this is intentional. If you wanted him to see you naked you could have done it in a more private setting. When he sees the way you're covering yourself up with you hands he realizes you made a mistake and calmly hands you the top part of your bikini. He can see that you're flustered and embaressed but you don't have to be, you're the prettiest one here.
Gepard offers to give you a well earned massage, as long as you're laying down like that he might as well. He didn't think you'd get up as soon as he moved his hands and that he'd get an eyeful of titty. He panics and hugs you close, not realizing that this will push your chest against his. He's almost more flustered by this then you are, and to his embarrassment his excitement is a lot more obvious.
Jing Yuan looks at you, almost like he's inspecting you for something before he cheekily hands you the towel he's been sitting on. He kisses you, thank you for the wonderful sight. But as soon as you have the towel on he offers to take you back the room you rented. If you still want to get some sun on your skin he has no problem doing it with the windows open, you're pretty high up anyway, no one's gonna see.
Luocha frantically starts looking for the top of your bikini to cover you up. It does look nice but right now he would really rather see you with it then without. Maybe if you were in private but not on a crowded beach where others can also see you. How about he massages some oils into your skin, that way you won't burn up and it will get his mind off what he just saw.
Sampo would normally be the type to prank you by dangling the bikini just out of reach but right now he will use those same skills to expertly tie it back around you before anyone sees you half naked. Yes, he has very skilled hands as you well know, that doesn't mean he'll always use them to get something off you. This time at least, but it was a pretty view.
Welt in his haste ends up cupping your boobs and making you yelp, attracting even more eyes then there already were. Thinking fast he pulls you close and lays on his back, keeping you there and kissing the top of your head as an apology. You can lay on his chest for a little bit longer, and with his arms around you there's no worry that you'll push upwards and let people see you half-naked.

Bruce Wayne x Male Reader
Tumblr media
☆ — MASTERLIST — ☆
REQUEST: Could you please write Burce wayne x male reader who has trouble ordering food. Like in a restaurant when the waiter asks, he either stutters or goes completely quiet, and that's why he asks Bruce to order for him. And i would like to see Bruce's reactions when a waiter is like "you don't have to order for him. He can order for himself. I wasn't asking you, i was asking him" just the waiter assuming that Bruce is kinda controlling. The reader is silently crying in his seat, having to order on his own, like he knows the waiter was trying to do something good. (Totally not speaking from personal experience 🤭)
WARNINGS/CONTENT: Fluff, mature language, social anxiety, Bruce is a good boyfriend, mentions of fears, judgment, request, relatable events, everyone struggles.
TAGS: @one-green-frog
WC: 1.5K
NOTES: I used to struggle with ordering food due to anxiety and fear of people judging me 😩 but as I got older they fear kind of went away and I’m able to do it with no problem but everyone deals with anxiety differently and takes time to get come it so I ain’t judging. It’s like that with my older brother he’s 26 and still makes me order for him due to his own anxiety. But hopefully you enjoyed this shot and apologize for the long wait!
Tumblr media
Everyone has social anxiety.
Y/n struggled with it at a young age, not being taught how to speak with others in public without getting the intense fear of judgment from others. He figured that he would improve as he got older, but it didn’t change and still struggled with the simple things. He could go out and run errands alone without any struggles since majority of place now had self checkout which was a god send for many.
He’s able to hold a conversation with strangers or with people he knew in the area, but his anxiety would get to him when it came towards the simplest tasks. He wasn’t sure if it was because he was an over thinker and would think that he did something wrong or if he perhaps pronounced something incorrect, thinking that people were judging him for the smallest things. It took time for him to improve but the anxiety still remained during important moments.
One of the easiest things that many were able to accomplish is ordering food. Their were times that he hesitated or froze up when ordering his own food, having to apologize each time he orders and forcing a nervous smile or laugh in hopes of getting through the few minutes that he is there. He struggled even more when he went out on dates.
Very few people knew about his anxiety and very few friends were kind enough to do the ordering for him without hesitation and providing the assistance that he needed. With strangers it was a whole other story, he didn’t want to force them into placing his own order due to his own fear and would struggle with speaking the words.
His dates never went well after that and hated the way he felt each time he stumbled upon the problem. If the waiter or waitress wasn’t staring at him intensely he’d probably order his food without a problem and his day would go fine. But the feeling of their eyes staring at him as he looked at his choices of food made him stutter and grow nervous when ordering.
Forcing that smile as always and getting through the day of embarrassment.
If he had this kind of anxiety how was he suppose to handle his future dates when he couldn’t do a simple task? He’s able to do a whole presentation in a room full of board of directors but he stutters and hesitates when it comes towards ordering a simple meal or even asking for help whenever he’s in public.
He figured he’d spend his days locked indoors while making his own meals while watching a good movie.
He didn’t think he’d end up bagging Bruce Wayne. Gothams Golden boy.
Y/n had thought that this was all a trick or a joke when Bruce first asked him out. He wanted to laugh at the mans face and tell him that he doesn’t need to make his life miserable by playing a mean joke, only to realize that Bruce was in fact not joking around.
Y/n worked at Wayne Enterprises but in a lower department not expecting himself to bump into Bruce Wayne and getting asked out by the man himself. Their first date was simple with a cup of coffee and muffins. He would have thought that bruce would take him someplace fancy on their first date, but when he didn’t he was a bit relieved.
Bruce was a great man and didn’t do anything that made him uncomfortable. Y/n figured that he’d only get lucky to have one date with bruce and then never see them man again, only to get asked out again and again and again. The first four months went well without any problems and enjoyed his time with Bruce as their time together grew their dates slowly got fancier.
Resulting into Y/n confessing to Bruce about his anxiety and fear of others judging him because he couldn’t do a simple task that only required a few words. He thought Bruce would laugh at him or use it against him and force him to confront his fear, instead Bruce smiled at him and asked.
“Do you want me to order for you?”
He said it with the most calmest voice ever showing no hints of judgment.
Y/n wanted to cry that night. It was a simple favor, but it meant a lot to him.
As their dates continued they created a routine each time they went out to eat. Y/n would either look up the menu online ahead of time and already have his order in mind and tell bruce before getting their orders placed. Bruce even memorized the dishes that Y/n liked whenever they went to a repeated restaurant and would for him on the spot without needing to be told what he liked, already knowing the mans interests.
A year into dating and it became a normal thing between the two.
During their one year anniversary, Bruce decided to take him to a new restaurant and getting seated in a nice secluded area and away from others. Y/n scanned the menu and hums. “This looks good.” He speaks up as he checks the different dishes until one caught his eye.
“You know the rule, order whatever you want.” Said Bruce, always reminding him that he can get whatever he wanted. Y/n was hesitant about the prices at first but with time he got adjusted to the idea of Bruce paying for everything and no matter how many times he tried to pay himself, Bruce had already paid ahead of time.
“This pasta looks good.” Y/n points out on the menu and shows Bruce who looked up form his own menu and smiles. “Is that all you want?”
“Can I also get this for dessert?” He points behind the menu where a picture of a nicely desert is presented, getting Bruce to chuckle as he nods his head. “You better share with me because I already know you won’t eat it all.” Y/n laughs at his words and sets his menu down, leaning back in his seat as he looks around the restaurant and takes in the interior, distracted by the place that he doesn’t notice the waitress coming over.
“Are you ready to order?”
“Yes,” Bruce smiles at the women and starts with his order first, letting her know what he’d like. “And for you?” She turns her attention to Y/n who gets his attention pulled away from a painting he was staring at and looks at her with wide eyes. “I…”
“He’d have the pasta and the chocolate desert.” Bruce is quick to cut in when he noticed Y/n freeze up.
The waitress gives Bruce the stink eye by how he interrupts Y/n. “You don’t have to order for him. He can order for himself.” Bruce froze with wide eyes, opening and closing his mouth in shock. “I wasn’t asking you I was asking him.” She points her pencil at Y/n and puts her attention on him.
Y/n can only gap at her, opening and closing his mouth as he tries to speak but I can’t. He was caught off guard and reached out for his menu. “I’ll like…the—the…” He’s stuttering and doesn’t know what to tell her. “Do you need another minute?” She asks which only make the situation worse, he’s turning to Bruce and staring at him with eyes full of fear and hesitation silently screaming for help.
“I assure you miss my partner would like the pasta and desert.” Bruce says again in hopes of getting her to note down the order and she does, not without rolling her eyes which only makes Y/n whine.
“Your food will be ready soon.” She said while taking their menus and walking away, leaving them in silence.
Y/n lets out a deep sigh of relief. “I’m sorry, I didn’t know what to say, she probably thinks you’re an asshole now.” He groans out while covering his face with his hands. Bruce can only chuckle while shaking his head and reaching out to grab him by the wrists. “Don’t be, not everyone knows about your fear and besides she was only doing it because she probably thought I was controlling.”
“You’re not!”
“She doesn’t know that. If I wanted to be asshole I would have yelled at her like other people do, but I’m not doing that. It was a simple misunderstanding.” Bruce reassured Y/n as he held his hand and smiles. He didn’t think that something like this would happen since they’ve never had this issue in the past at the other places that they visited.
“All you have to worry about is eating all of your food and sharing your desert.” Bruce tries to lighten up the mood which works for Y/n as he chuckled and nods his head. “Fine and then after we go home and watch a movie and not come back here again.” After this misunderstanding its most likely he doesn’t want to come back and face the same issue again.
“We stick with Jimmy’s…” He mumbled out, referring to his favorite restaurant that serviced amazing chicken wings and fries. Bruce laughs while nodding. “Next time we go out will go to Jimmy’s.” At this point they were already considered regulars that the owner memorized their orders, which made it better for Y/n.

hey. i really like the fic about shapeshitfing!reader x wednesday. i was wondering if u could do thing and reader being absolute besties and playful with each other which makes wednesday annoyed and sorta jealous.
Best friends
Wednesday Addams x fem!shapeshifter!reader
Words: 1.4k
A/n: lowk shapeshifter!r is so fun to write, thanks for all the requests about her :) hopefully you like reading about her a lot because honestly i’m a little obsessed with this universe
Warnings(?): wednesday being wednesday, ooc wednesday, mentions of knives and blood
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Why are you adamant on annoying me.” Wednesday opens her door to you, whose rapidly knocking stops when the look on Wednesday’s face doesn’t give much room for explanation. But you love being defiant so you don’t really care
“Thing and I planned to go on a date today!”
The Addams looks behind her to see the appendage with the tiniest little crocheted messenger bag that was worn on his wrist like a bracelet. You can see Wednesday’s forehead wrinkle when Thing saunters over to your feet for you to put him on your shoulder, just as you’ve seen Wednesday do countless times before
“I asked Thing if he had any rings to wear and he said no, so naturally I’m going to treat him on a day out” The appendage taps excitedly on your shoulder, poking at your face to signal he wants to go
“And when did you plan this?”
“After we played tag, you wanna come with us?” You ask with a turn of your head
“Shopping isn’t my strongest suit. I’d only slow you two down.”
“We’ll be off doing hot girl things. I promise I’ll have him home before curfew, Miss Addams” You treat Wednesday like she’s a disapproving mother, when in reality she looks unfazed and honestly a little annoyed. You and Thing wave goodbye, leaving Wednesday with her own thoughts as her roommate is doing god knows what with her friends
Time alone could be good for Wednesday. She’s been around people far more than she preferred. With maybe an hour on her hands before someone interrupts her, Wednesday sits at her desk to write
Her fingers drum against her desk, a habit she picked up from Thing. The appendage you were taking out on a date. For gods sake, he was a hand! You asked a singular appendage out on a date. Not even a full human. A fucking hand. A hand that didn’t have a voice, yet you were still infatuated with him nonetheless
And maybe Wednesday is smart enough to recognize she’s feeling a little peeved over a hand. Maybe Wednesday is smart enough to know Thing does have a voice; a sassy one at that. Maybe Wednesday is coping with the fact you wanted to take Thing out more than someone you actively sought out and saw every day
And maybe you’re the reason why Wednesday had to buy a slightly bigger trash can for the more recent mistakes she’s been making during her writing time
You were a disease. You forced your way into everyone’s life, but somehow you always came out with more friends and acquaintances than you started with. It was annoying how unforgivably social you were.
Your dumb smile with your pearly white teeth. Wednesday’s tapping on her desk got a little faster
Your need to include everyone whether you knew them or not. It was why you were on a date with Thing in the first place
Your everlasting hunger to be around someone. Wednesday knew you didn’t like to be alone
Your voice that Wednesday knew so well.
Fuck.
“Hey, Wens!” Enid makes her presence known with a sing-song tone while placing her jacket on the coat hanger near the door
“Where’s Thing? It’s quiet in here” The blonde immediately notices
“He’s on a date,” There’s a small pause after Wednesday talks “with (Y/n).”
“(Y/n) took Thing on a date?”
“Correct.”
“How’s your writing going?” Enid peers over Wednesday’s shoulder to look at her once again, full trash can. Enid notices that happens a lot when you’re on Wednesday’s mind for some reason. The Addams glares at Enid when she makes another mistake, crumbling up the piece of paper while maintaining eye contact with her roommate
“Great.”
A beat of silence.
“…did you seriously get cucked by a hand?”
“Repeat such degenerate nonsense and I’ll be forced to make sure you never will.”
“I dunno, you’re looking a little jealous over there” Wednesday doesn’t have to turn around to hear the wolfish grin in Enid’s voice
“The urge to push a knife through your skull is an insatiable hunger that cannot be fed by anything that isn’t your blood.”
//-//
“Do you like this one? See look, the dragon is the ring!” You place the ring on Thing’s middle finger. The appendage shows his approval with another few taps
“Yes, it makes you look tough. You want another one?” He nods. Well, at least makes it look like he’s nodding. You grab a silver ring from the display, putting it on his thumb
“Will Enid like the rings?” Thing signs
“Everyone will love them, especially Enid. You running out on lotion?”
“Nope! How can I repay you?”
You pretend to think for a second
“If you delete Enid’s blackmail on me off of all her devices I’ll take you out again, free of charge” The employee at the front is probably wondering why your back is turned to her while you’re whispering into your hands
Thing holds a thumbs-up and you take the two rings off his fingers and put them on the check out counter along with a few other little trinkets you liked and stuff for your friends
A pink and white bracelet with charms you knew Enid would find cute, scale earrings that twinkled in the sun that Bianca would look stunning in, a bee pin that was too perfect for Eugene, and a black snake that curled into itself as ring for Wednesday
You only assumed Thing gave you a blank stare when the cashier said your price was a bit more than a hundred fifty dollars. Your mom would definitely chastise you for your spending issues, but that was a problem for another day. Your current problem was that you had to get Thing home by curfew like you promised
//-//
Thing might not want to take up your invitation on another date anytime soon.
Currently you’re turned into a bird with the appendage hanging on for dear life on your back as you carry the bag of items you bought in your beak. Thing pleaded you just run on the ground like any normal animal, but you promised you’d get him home by curfew. Running would’ve taken too long and your ass would get tired
So instead, you went for the skies without Thing’s approval
He might hate you now, honestly. In your defense, it was too late when he told you he had a fear of falling when you were above tree height
You asked if he wanted to sit in the bill of a pelican instead and you felt him pluck one of your feathers. Lucky for you both, Wednesday and Enid’s room wasn’t too far away
When you land on the balcony of their dorm, Thing hops off your back and apologizes for your now lost feather. You also apologize for not planning correctly and having him on your back with little to no safety
Enid looks a little confused when Thing starts to hug the bird that landed on her balcony, but she eventually figures out it’s you. The blonde looks away for a second and you’re already a cat desperately knocking against their circle window to be let in
You walk in like you own the place, and Wednesday checks the clock if you actually got Thing home by curfew
“With minutes left to spare, too.” Wednesday says. You smile proudly
You jump up onto Enid’s bed, bag still in mouth. You push it over so it’s parallel to the bed, digging your head in until you find what you need. The pink and white bracelet with charms you got from Jericho. Enid makes sure to ruffle your fur so much it starts to stick out until she pats it down. Thing makes sure to tell Enid all about his day
Grabbing your bag, you make your way towards Wednesday, who’s reading a book with a dark cover on her bed
You look through the bag again, but this time with the aforementioned snake ring in your mouth. You keep your tongue away from the ring as much as possible to stop you from getting your saliva on it
Of course you thought about your friends while on a date.
Wednesday reaches out her hand, taking the ring from your mouth. She places it on her left ring finger and it seems to be a snug fit. There’s a wordless thank you in Wednesday’s eyes when she uses the same hand to scratch under your chin, making you purr
The happy expression on your face and the way you lean into her touch makes Wednesday’s heart melt the tiniest bit.
You crawl into Wednesday’s lap as she reads her book. Every now and again you can feel the now cold ring against your skin, sending shivers down your spine
You end up spending the night with Wednesday’s lips against the back of your ear and her hand on your stomach. It wasn’t your fault you were a cuddly cat.

"I just have to ask you a few questions... is that okay?" Coriolanus asks, sitting across from you at the small table you find yourself chained to.
"Please." You nod, grinning at him. You were so tired, the bags under your eyes were evidence enough of that. Screw getting you food- Coryo is worried if you don't sleep you'll be all but useless in the games, even if all he needs you to do is run and hide.
"It's just so people can get to know you a bit better. Okay, so..." He looks down at the sheet in front of him, tapping the pencil against the table as he tries to focus on reading. "First, nice and easy, what is your full name?"
"Y/N M/N L/N."
"Great... Okay, and where are you from?"
"District Twelve, born and raised."
"How old are you?"
"Seventeen. I'll be eighteen next week." You smile.
"Oh, really?" He asks, pausing mid-sentence as he starts writing it down.
"Yeah." You smile. "Hopefully I'll live to see the day."
"You will." He tries to be reassuring as he scribbles the finished answer on his sheet. God, you got unlucky. Not that his eighteenth was a big celebration like some of his classmates, but Tigris made him a cake with ingredients she'd been saving up for and she refit his school uniform for him. You wouldn't even have that- you would be spending the day fighting for your life, if you even made it that long.
"And who is in your family unit?" He reads directly from the slip as he forces himself to move on.
"Well, there's me, my brother, he's fifteen, and then my ma and pa." You nod. "Well, my pa isn't home much. Lots of work in the mines; usually has sixteen-hour days. I hardly ever see him." You admit, sadness laced into your tone. "Saw him, I mean."
"My father died in Twelve." Coryo says, catching you off guard. He doesn't even fully understand why he felt the need to tell you this. "About ten years ago, it was rebels."
"I remember that." You reply quietly, recalling the lockdown placed on the District after the murder of a peacekeeper general. "He was the general. Crassus Snow, I assume?"
"Yes."
Everyone was forced into their homes at gunpoint, and in search of the responsible parties everyone you knew had their home destroyed by peacekeepers. Yourself included. Your bed was torn apart, and your mattress shredded for any hidden weapons or plans. Since then, you have shared a bed with your brother. A new mattress was hard to make, and your ma never got the free time or materials again.
Up until this week, that was the scariest day of your life. Just before the peacekeepers kicked in your door, your mother had grabbed the two of you and shoved you into an opening under the floorboards- a crawlspace made from a faulty foundation. You were in there for what felt like hours, listening to shouting and your home being ruined as you held onto each other with a hand pressed over your brother's mouth to keep him from crying too loud. Your mother's cries that day never seemed to end.
"It's a small world." You say after a solid few moments of silence, and Coryo can see it in the way you're staring at his paper that you're not reading it. You're zoned out completely. "I'm sorry that happened to you. It must have been scary."
"The war was hard on all of us." He responds. "What... what do you remember?" He had never heard anything about it besides the bare bones of what happened, he had never considered that the people of Twelve would remember it as well. And judging by the look on your face, it wasn't a good memory.
"I was about six, maybe seven, and I was playing with my brother, and I didn't hear anything but my ma must have because she grabbed us and hid us under the floorboards so fast I could have got whiplash. Peacekeepers came into our home, tore the whole thing to shreds, hurt my ma, then took off. Onto the next house. I didn't find out until a while later that rebels killed the peacekeeper general, they were looking for any evidence of conspiracy, I guess. The people who did it."
"Sounds like it was scarier for you than for me."
"But I want you to know," You speak so quickly you almost cut him off. "My parents had nothing to do with it. My pa is an honest, good man. All he ever wanted was to keep us safe. We're not rebels, I promise you that."
Coriolanus almost wishes you were, so he wouldn't be so hurt by what his people were putting you through. "I know. I wouldn't blame you for that."
"Thank you." You whisper, picking at your nails now as you look down at your shaky hands.
Coryo clears his throat, forcing himself to look away from you. "Uh..." He chuckles at the next question, making you look up at him again. "Are you married?"
"No." You reply, having almost completely forgotten about the worksheet in front of him. "I'm not."
"It's just... I just, I have to ask." He says, clearing his throat as he writes it down.
"Of course." You nod in understanding.
"Boyfriend?" He asks, and as you squint at the sheet you can see it's not there, and he quickly covers the next lines with his palm, cheeks flushing pink.
"Yes." You giggle as he snaps his head up to look at you.
"You do?" He asks, voice catching as his curls fall back onto his forehead from the sudden movement.
"Yes, what is so wrong in that?" You raise an eyebrow at him, trying not to laugh.
"No, no, I mean, of course you do, you're beautiful, I just, you never mentioned-"
"Relax, Coriolanus. I'm kidding." You smile at the panic in his tone. "No, I don't have a boyfriend."
"Oh, right. Thanks, it's just for, yeah..." He mumbles, pretending to write something down behind his cupped hand so you couldn't see.
You shake your head at him while he's not paying attention, smiling to yourself.
"So, uh, do you have a job?"
"Not formally, but my ma is a seamstress. I help her lots with that. Fixing people's work clothes, stuff like that." You answer, getting back on topic.
"Did you make your dress?" He asks.
"Now I know that question's not on that form of yours." You laugh. "But yes, my ma made it for me when I was five. It's been my favourite ever since."
He looked the parts of it over that he could see above the table. It was well worn down, but well cared for. Similar to a lot of his own clothing.
"It used to be this big, flowing thing. Too big for a five year old- I would step on the bottom of it, just tore it right up." You recall. "So we trimmed the bottom, and as I grew, it grew right with me. I stitched up the bottom when I was old enough to enter the reaping, so now it's got shorts instead. But I still love it, lots of good memories held in the pockets of this old thing."
Shorts instead. So it's easier to run in. The thought haunts Coryo for a moment. The idea that you, at twelve years old, decided this is what you would want to run in, to die in, and took the liberty of sewing up the crotch in it yourself. Every stitch possibly sealing your fate.
"It's nice. I like it." He responds.
"Thank you." You smile, nodding proudly to yourself as you look down at the fabric. "It's real comfy, too."
"It looks it. Not very... restricting." He chooses his words wisely. No wonder you had kept it so many years. It still fit, so why not? Especially when it looked so good on you. The typically plain, neutral tone of the fabric complimented your skin tone so well. Even in bad lighting, it seemed as though you were glowing where the cloth met your skin. Glowing everywhere, now that he thought about it. Maybe you just lit up every room you walked into. Maybe it wasn't the clothing that was made just for you and hugged your form so flawlessly, maybe it was just you.
"Yes, it is not." You agree. "Now, our time is limited. Next question." You interrupt his thoughts, gesturing to the sheet of paper in between you.
"Yes, sorry." Coryo chuckles, shaking the distraction from his head. "Any hobbies?
"Reading."
"I did know that." He smiles to himself. "Anything else?"
"Well..." You think about it for a moment, chewing your lip. "I have a cat, and I like to play with him and take care of him, does that count?"
"I'll count it." He nods, quickly jotting it down. "What's your cat's name?" He asks, purely out of curiosity.
"Tybalt." You giggle.
"Tybalt?" Coryo tilts his head at you and you nod, bottom lip drawn between your teeth.
He nods slightly, prompting you to explain. "He's named after a character from Romeo and Juliet."
"That's your favourite, I remember."
"Good king of cats, nothing but one of your nine lives." You quote. "Mercutio calls Tybalt the king of the cats, so I named him after that."
"That's clever. Very funny."
"Thank you. I thought so." You smile proudly, watching him write down your cats name in his notes. "What is this for, if I can ask?"
"Uh, there's going to be an interview you'll have to do the night before the games. It'll be aired live on Capitol television, and people will be able to send in donations so I can send you things in the arena. Just like I told you." Coryo explains.
"An interview?" You ask. "What does that entail?"
"Well, I'm not sure yet." He answers honestly. "But we'll pass this sheet onto the host, Lucky, if you remember him, and he can ask you questions about your family, your life, any of this stuff. I think really whatever we want, though, so if there's anything in particular you want to say or talk about I can write that down for you."
"Oh, I'm really not sure." You reply. "Nothing in particular, but if you need me to talk I can talk about books for hours on end." You smile.
"Could you do a monologue?" He suggests. He had discussed this with Tigris before, and he was hoping you would, but knowing you, you would be dropping quotes in your interview anyway so you might as well commit to it and display how smart you are with something well-planned.
"Maybe, if you could find me a copy of Romeo and Juliet." You smile. "I think I know it, but it would be nice to have a refresher. Just to make sure I get it right. Would be awfully embarrassing if I made a mistake."
Coryo nods, quickly writing that down in the margins of the page. Considering he had never even heard of this book, it may be hard, but he would certainly try for you. "That would be great. Your goodbye was very moving, although quite confusing for most, but it had people talking about you and that's what we want."
"Okay. I'll practice."
"Thank you." Coryo smiles. "And I just have one more question on here to fill out... Do you have any special skills that you think will be helpful in the games?"
Your smile fades slightly and you just shake your head.
"That's okay. We'll figure it out."
That night, Coryo came to see you again. You were curled up with his blanket, draped half over yourself and half over Jessup as he lay next to you. It was a small blanket, obviously meant for a child, but it helped anyway. Maybe it was just a placebo, but for you, that was more than enough.
As you got up, hearing him call your name in a familiar tone, you draped the blanket more fully over Jessup before making your way over to the bars of the enclosure. "Good evening, Coryo. To what do I owe the pleasure?"
"I brought you some things." He whispers, digging in his bag.
"How kind." You smile, watching as he pulls things out, handing you a napkin with some bread wrapped inside and tucking whatever else he brought under his arm to give to you after you've eaten. "Can you sit for a few minutes?"
"Of course." He nods, sitting down with you as you cross your legs and unfold the fabric carefully as not to drop what's inside. "I was hoping to talk to you anyway."
"Let's talk; it is not day." You smile, leaning toward him more.
"Should I be asking what that's from?" He jokes, but is surprised when you shrug.
"You could, but I wouldn't want to bore you." You giggle, shaking your head. "Take a guess, though. I believe you'd know it."
He smiles, watching as you take a bite out of the bread. "Romeo and Juliet?"
"Yes." You nod in confirmation, covering your mouth while you speak. "You're a real fan, now, aren't you?"
"I guess so." He chuckles. "The fact that I've never read it is unimportant."
"Completely irrelevant." You agree with a quiet laugh. His smile fades as his eyes land on something behind you, and you turn to follow his gaze over your shoulder. "What are you looking at?" You whisper, looking back at him again.
"Are you sharing everything I bring you with Jessup?" He asks, voice stern as his brow furrows at the question.
"I try to." You nod, taking another bite. "He's not well. I think something bit him the first night we were here."
"You can't." Coryo insists. Of course, he wants you to win, and you handing over every bit of sustenance or help you receive is only lessening your odds. Making Jessup stronger and you only weaker. "I know you're a good person, but once you get in that arena you won't have any friends. Not even him." Coryo explains, strategically skipping over the part where it makes him ill to see you sleeping with your head on the boy's shoulder and sharing the blanket that he gifted to you.
"Oh..." You say, so quietly he can hardly hear. "But-"
"Y/N." He cuts you off, a serious look on his face. "If you keep feeding him, keep helping him, and it comes down to you and him in the end, who do you think will win in that fight? If you had all the same nutrients and sleep, who do you think will win?"
"I- well..." You stutter, looking back at your friend. "It won't come to that. I think we both know that."
"We have to assume it will." He pleads, eyes now locked on yours. "Don't make it easier for him."
"Coryo, he's got a family, siblings, his ma to get home to. They need him." You protest, leaning closer so no one else could properly hear.
"So do you." He reminds you. The look of guilt that crosses your face indicates to him that even though you had your own family, something about Jessup makes you willing to give that up for him to get home. "What about Tybalt? He'll never know what happened to his own mother. Or your brother losing his sister. Y/N, please..."
Your eyes widen at the mention of your cat and your brother in particular. Clearly, Coryo is so desperate for you to listen that he's pulling strings he shouldn't. To make you hurt. To make you pay attention.
Tears fill your eyes as you speak. "I know." Your voice cracks, and the pit in Coryo's stomach tells him he's gone too far. "I'm sorry, I just- I don't want to be afraid anymore. It's selfish of me, I know, but I won't last long and I know that so I just want to get it over with." You cry quietly, reaching up to wipe your eyes on your wrist. You hadn't been so candid with him before, he almost doesn't recognize you without a smile on your face.
"Hey, no, don't be sorry. It's not selfish." He whispers, without hesitation reaching through the bars and resting his hand on your knee. Your skin is cold to the touch, even for him after he had just walked all the way here in the same air. "But it'll be over soon, and I'll get you home. I'll do everything I can."
You sniff and nod, hesitating before placing your hand over his. "I promise I'll do my best in the interview. I want you to win your prize."
Coryo's mouth gets dry at the insinuation. You didn't think you could win, you won't even consider it even with all the encouragement he tries to feed you every day, but you want him to win. "That's not important." He says, shocking himself with the sentiment. The Plinth Prize is his only hope at a viable future, at saving his family. But right now, he doesn't even care.
You don't respond right away, just sliding your hand under his to hold it. His skin on yours feels warm, comforting, the same way it did when he held it when you were first dumped in the zoo. You don't know if it's more comforting to you or him.
"I'm sorry to cry at you, I just sometimes realize what's going to happen to me and spiral over the possibilities and no matter how hard I try to accept it..." You shake your head, looking down at your hands. "I'm still fearful." Your voice drops below a whisper.
"Then don't accept it." Coryo grasps your hand tighter, leaning closer to you and looking at you through the bars. "Fight. Try to win."

Meeting the Firefam
Tumblr media
Eddie x reader
~1600 words
Warnings: epileptic reader. Hopefully accurately portrayed.
You parked in front of the station and turned off the ignition. Taking one final deep breath, you pushed the door open and stepped out. You didn't know why you were so nervous. Meeting Eddie’s coworkers shouldn't seem so frightening.
What if they hated you? What if they told him to break up with you? You knew they were more like family to him than just coworkers. Their opinions mattered a lot. You had only been dating him a little over a month but you had fallen hard. You really couldn't imagine your life without him and Chris and even Carla.
You needed them to like you.
Making your way inside, you quickly spotted Eddie as he approached. You greeted him with a kiss before he pulled you into a hug.
“Hey, you. How was traffic?” He asked.
You shrugged. “Normal. Slow.” Eddie knew it was your least favorite part about LA.
“I think lunch is almost ready. You ready to meet everyone?”
“No.” You wrapped your hands around his bicep as he started walking toward the trucks.
He leaned over and kissed your temple. “I told you they’re going to love you. You have nothing to worry about.” He pulled you along with him towards Buck and another firefighter beside the truck.
Buck smiled when he spotted you. “Hey, Y/N. Glad you finally decided to come have lunch with us.”
“Hi, Buck. Someone has been persistent.” You looked at Eddie just in time to catch his shrug.
“Y/N, this is Ravi.” Eddie introduced.
Ravi lifted his hand for you to shake. “Nice to finally meet you.”
“You too.”
Eddie pulled you away towards the stairs that led to the loft. You couldn't help but look around at everything. “This is a beautiful building.”
Eddie nodded. “I agree. It's my favorite station in the city.”
You had barely made it to the top of the stairs before you were being engulfed in hugs. “Oh, uh, hi.”
Eddie chuckled. “This is Hen and Chimney.”
“We are so excited to finally meet you. Eddie here won't shut up about you,” Chimney said.
You glanced at Eddie, catching him trying to hide his blush. “I don't talk about her that much,” he argued.
“Constantly,” Hen mouthed at you with a grin.
Next, Eddie led you over to the kitchen. “And this is Cap.”
The man in front of the stove wiped his hands on a dish towel before reaching out for a handshake. “It's Bobby.”
“Nice to meet you. It smells amazing in here.”
Bobby smiled. “Well, thank you. This will be done in a few minutes. Eddie, can you grab everyone down stairs?”
“On it.” Eddie pointed to the couches. “You can make yourself comfortable over there.”
Within ten minutes, everyone was getting settled at the table. Eddie took your hand to pull you up from the couch. As he pulled out a chair for you, you suddenly felt your left arm go numb.
“Oh no.” You mumbled. You reached out towards Eddie as your knees buckled and the world around you disappeared.
Eddie was quick to catch you before you could hit the ground. “Woah. Y/N?” When you didn't open your eyes he slowly lowered you to the floor. Seconds later you were convulsing violently. Eddie couldn't help but to just stare at you in shock.
Chim was on the floor beside Eddie a second later. “Eddie, we got her.”
“I'll grab a med kit,” Hen announced as she ran for the stairs.
Chimney kept you rolled on your side. Bobby stepped closer to pull Eddie away. “They need room to work.”
Eddie tried to resist. “I should help.”
Buck stepped beside his best friend to keep him out of the way.
Bobby stepped towards you and grabbed your foot, pulling off your shoe. “Medical alert. Epilepsy.” He pointed at the shoelace tag as he looked towards Eddie.
Eddie shook his head. “I didn't know. Why didn't she tell me?”
Hen returned with a monitor and med kit and Chim filled her in. “Epilepsy. Let's just give it a minute.”
Eddie pushes past Buck and sat down on the ground by your head. He whispered soft reassurances in case you could hear him.
Chim pulled a pulse ox monitor out of the med kit and clipped it on your finger.
“She's barely breathing,” Eddie pointed out. He knew that was common with seizures but still couldn't help the mild panic he felt.
“That's normal,” Hen reminded him. She started to attach an oxygen mask to the tank she’d carried upstairs just in case.
Next, Chim started to attach cardiac leads to your chest. Once he'd finished, they waited for the seizure to stop.
“That's five minutes,” Bobby pointed out.
Hen and Chim sighed as they locked eyes with each other. “Alright, let's push Ativan,” Chim said.
“I'll start an IV,” Hen announced. “Eddie can you hold her arm?” He did as asked, trying to hold your arm as still as possible without hurting you. “I'm in.”
Chim pushed the meds he'd drawn up as soon as IV was secured. It took about another twenty seconds for the seizure to finally stop.
Everyone let out a relieved breath. Eddie pushed some hair back behind your ear.
“Let's get her loaded up and to the hospital,” Chimney broke the momentary silence.
Hen nodded. “I'll go radio dispatch and get ready.”
Within five minutes you were loaded into the ambulance with Eddie and Chim beside you as Hen shifted into drive.
“Ugh.” You groaned a few minutes later. “N-no hospital,” you mumbled out fighting your grogginess.
Eddie ran his hand over your head. “Yes, hospital.”
You huffed, frustrated you can't get the words out to explain. “E-epi–”
“We know about your epilepsy, we found your alert tag,” Eddie interrupted. “Sweetheart, your seizure lasted almost six minutes. Hen and Chim had to push meds to stop it. You have to go in.”
Your eyebrows rose in surprise. Suddenly you were glad you'd been with them for lunch and not alone at home. You knew he was right and allowed yourself to relax. “Tired.”
Eddie pressed a kiss to your knuckles. “That's the medicine. You can sleep.”
You nodded as your eyes drifted closed. You weren't sure you could have stayed awake even if you'd tried.
A few hours later, you were finally settled into a room after being poked and prodded. They had run all kinds of tests trying to figure out what might have caused the long seizure.
“Anything I can get for you?” the nurse asked.
You shook your head as you shifted in an attempt to find a comfortable position. Every muscle was sore.
“Okay. I'll let your visitors know they can come in now, if that's alright with you,” the nurse says as she walks toward the door.
“Visitors? Plural?” You ask surprised.
“You have a whole herd of firefighters waiting out there for you,” she explains.
“Oh, wow. Could you just send Eddie in for now?”
She smiles kindly. “Of course, honey.”
Eddie pushes the door open not five minutes later. He pulls up a chair and takes your hand in his, careful to avoid your IV line.
“Hi,” you greeted
“Hi. How ya feeling?” He asked.
“Kinda like someone put me through a blender.”
He chuckled and nodded. “You scared me. I'm just glad Bobby noticed your medical alert tag.”
“I'm sorry,” you sighed. “This is definitely not how I planned to tell you about my epilepsy.”
He locks eyes with you. “So you were planning to tell me.” He looks annoyed or maybe hurt that you hadn't already told him.
“Eventually.” You drop your gaze to the bed. “It's not exactly an easy conversation. It's caused a few break ups over the years.”
“What do you mean?” He looks genuinely confused.
“I'm too much to deal with. No one wants to deal with seizures,” you try to explain. “And you already have to deal with sick people all day at work. I'm sure the last thing you want to do is deal with the same at home.” You sniffle. “I'll understand if you want out now.”
“Y/N,” Eddie said, placing a finger under your chin to make you look at him. “I love you. This could never change that. Any guy who dumped you because of this is an asshole.”
Tears rolled down your face before you were suddenly sobbing, relief washing over you in waves.
Eddie moved quickly to sit beside you on the bed. Pulling you into his side and shishing you softly.
You had been so worried about telling him for so long. “I-I'm sorry. I should have told you.” You sniffled harshly. “I should have known you'd accept this part of me.”
“You have nothing to apologize for. I know now. That's all that matters.”
Eventually you calmed down but you were beyond exhausted. “Hey, isn't everyone still out there waiting?”
“Yeah.” He pulled his phone out of his pocket. “I'll text them that you're okay and let them know they can head home.”
Placing a hand over his screen, you shook your head. “No. I want to see them.”
“You need to rest,” he argued. “They can come back tomorrow or we can go to the station if you're discharged.”
“Just a quick visit. Please? Fifteen minutes.”
Sighing, he stood from where he was still perched on the bed. “Ten.”
“Deal.”

Aemond loved you, he really did, but he also hated your brothers.
He tried to keep his cool for your sake, faking smiles that hurt his cheeks and uttering kind words that left a bad taste in his mouth on the rare occasion that your family was around.
But Lucerys had taken something from him that could never be replaced.
His injury might've healed, the scars no longer red and tender, but the pain was still there. Fresh and raw, always gnawing away at his heart and sanity. He remembers the stares he received after the incident – he could still feel the pity from those around the castle, the whispers from Lords who visited on business, and the poorly masked looks of disgust from their wives and daughters.
Aemond hated it. He hated how everyone seemed to think he was a fragile and unfortunate thing just because he had lost an eye. He had the biggest dragon in all of Westeros for God's sake!
So as time passed he learned to build walls around himself for protection. He no longer hid behind his mother's skirts nor did he cower away in fear. He began to spend his time in the training yard with Ser Criston.
At first, it was hard. His coordination wasn't the same due to his lost eye but Aemond didn't give up. He trained hard, harder than his brother who preferred to spend his time with his nose buried between the thighs of whores and bottles of wine.
Soon enough Aemond was no longer the boy who got pushed around. He wore his eyepatch with pride, glaring and proving those who underestimated him wrong.
When he married you, he was worried you would not only hate him but also find him disgusting or at least be scared of him. But you proved him wrong. You told him how beautiful he was, kissed the scars around his eye, and showered him with love.
That was all it took for his walls to come crumbling down, allowing you to worm your way inside and cement your claim.
So yes, Aemond did love you but that wasn't enough to forgive your brothers for what they did to him.
You were seated next to him at the dinner table, chatting with Helaena and occasionally giggling at the poorly made jokes your brother Luke threw your way. He loved the sound of your laugh and could listen to it on repeat for hours, but at that very moment, he wanted nothing more than to bang his head against the table.
He refrained from doing so knowing you would scold him for it and his mother would glare until she became cross-eyed.
Viserys had called for a family dinner the same night after the shitshow that was the presentation. Aemond had promised that no one would be angry with you if you skipped it but you were feeling much better.
Besides, you yearned to finally have dinner with both sides of your family.
You couldn't remember the last time something like this happened.
Your grandfather had held a toast, congratulating your siblings for their betrothals before he turned to you and Aemond, a smile on his gravely ill face.
"And to my only granddaughter. I have had the pleasure of watching you turn from a little girl to a woman grown. You remind me so much of your mother," Rhaenyra sniffed at this, a smile on her face as she looked between you and her father. You had a smile on your own face, cheeks warm due to the attention you were receiving. Aemond set a hand on your thigh, giving it a small squeeze as he fought down a smile.
"It saddens my heart that Aemma isn't here to witness this. She would've loved her grandchildren" The side of your table tensed a bit at the mention of your late grandmother and you felt Otto's heated gaze on the side of your face which you ignored.
Daemon snorted at the expression Alicent was attempting to shield.
Viserys was none the wiser as he continued his speech." I hope you and Aemond live a long life full of love and children" He finished addressing you with a breathless chuckle and you softly thanked him with a bow of your head.
The king slowly reached up and took off the mask, revealing his empty eye socket and disfigured cheek.
You gulped, eyes averting from his face.
It wasn't a pleasant sight like Aemond's. The skin on the right side of your grandfather's face was rotting off, leaving a gaping hole in its wake. If you squint hard enough from your seat you would be able to see the inside of his mouth.
"Let us no longer hold ill feelings in our hearts. The crown cannot stand strong if the House of the Dragon remains divided" He wheezed out, chest heaving as he attempted to catch his breath. "But set aside your grievances. If not for the sake of the crown... then for the sake of this old man who loves you all so dearly"
I wish, you thought. The divide between your families ran deep, not even yours and Aemond's marriage could mend it.
No one spoke for a bit after he was finished. Until your mother stood, cup raised.
"I wish to raise my cup to Her Grace, the Queen. I love my father. But I must admit that no one has stood more loyally by his side than his good wife" Alicent was slightly taken aback as she stared up at your mother with an unreadable expression.
You knew of their history, your mother had told you. Best friends who fell off each other's graces after Alicent married your grandfather and became Queen, filling your mother with a feeling of betrayal.
You couldn't even attempt to imagine how that would feel.
"She has tended to him with unfailing devotion, love, and honor. And for that, she has my gratitude and my apology" Rhaenyra finished and sat back down. Everyone stared at the Queen expectantly, waiting for her response.
"Your graciousness moves me deeply, Princess" Alicent finally said, eyes darting around the room before falling back to your mother who was now looking at her with an unreadable expression of her own. "We are both mothers and we love our children. We have more in common than we sometimes allow" The Queen continued before standing up, her chair dragging back a bit at the force.
"I raise my cup to you and to your house. You will make a fine queen"
You noticed your mother trying to hide her smile as you made a move to grab your cup just as everyone else did. You took a sip of the sweet wine and softly hummed in contentment as the warm after-effects of the alcohol kicked in.
Aemond did the same with his free hand as his other was still resting on your thigh. He gave it another squeeze and you turned your attention to him, confusion written on your features as you wondered if he had something to say to you.
"I love you," He whispered loud enough for you to hear and you couldn't help but break out in a grin. "I love you too" You answered, quickly leaning forward and planting a kiss on his cheek.
His face grew hot at the action and he quickly scanned the table to see if anyone was looking but thankfully everyone had returned to their separate conversations. His attention turned back to you but you had already turned to listen to Helaena who was happily informing you about the new bugs she had found while out in the yard earlier.
You were nodding along, demonstrating you were listening, when your gaze fell on Aegon who was standing in between Jace and Baela, whispering something that was clearly no good considering Jace's jaw clenched in response.
On instinct, you turned to look at Aemond, eyes pleading for him to do something but your twin brother was faster. Jace's fists slammed on the table, startling everyone else from their conversations.
You could see he was trying to reign in his anger. Next, you felt Aemond stand and you turned to look up at him, eyes wide as he stared at your brother with a look you didn't like.
It's as if he were challenging him, daring him to do whatever it was he was thinking.
Jacaerys was staring right back at him with the same expression but when he met your eyes – pleading – he settled on softly punching Aegon's shoulder in an attempt to appear playful before grabbing his cup and raising it in the air.
"To Prince Aegon and Prince Aemond. We have not seen each other in years, but I have fond memories of our shared youth. And as men, as his eyes roamed, hope we may yet be friends and allies" Jace toasted, his smile forced as he turned to look at everyone at the table, observing him quietly.
Aemond was still standing, watching him like a hawk. You tried your best to discreetly reach up and grab his hand, tugging at it so he would sit but he ignored it.
"And you Uncle," Your brother was back to staring at your husband, cup pointed in his direction this time. "You have been married to my sweet little sister," You softly groaned. "You're older by an hour!" You interrupted with a whine and Jace stuck his tongue out in retaliation.
This earned a few chuckles from your family and weak grandfather. The Greens, except Helena who grinned, didn't budge.
"As I was saying before I was rudely interrupted," Jace rolled his eyes playfully and you huffed, pout still on your lips. "You have been married to my twin, the person I shared a womb with and came into this world with, the person I have had the pleasure of annoying for eighteen years straight – for over a year now. I see how happy you have made her and for that, I sincerely thank you" Jace's eyes left Aemond's stoic frame before turning to you, a genuine smile on his lips this time.
Your pout was replaced with a smile of your own, heart fluttering at your brother's words. Aemond remained silent, gaze still calculating before he tilted his head in acknowledgment toward Jacaerys.
"To you and your family's good health, dear uncles" Jace finished before taking a swing from his cup. He delivered a final punch to Aegon's shoulder before sitting back down.
You could practically see the annoyance rolling off of your eldest uncle as he accepted your brother's words, "To you as well"
Aemond finally took his seat and you turned to give him a pointed look, which he tried his best to ignore, suddenly interested in the cutlery laid in front of him.
"I would like to toast to Baela and Rhaena!" Helaena announced, abruptly standing up with a cup in her hand as well. All eyes were drawn to her, waiting to see where this was going. "They'll be married soon. It isn't so bad. Mostly he just ignores you..." You frowned at her words, saddened by her fate. "Except sometimes when he's drunk" She innocently added, earning a cackle from your stepfather from the other end of the table.
Aegon looked like he wanted to bury himself alive and this caused you to stifle a laugh of your own. Helaena finally sat down with a dopey smile and you cautiously reached out to hold her hand, knowing she was wary of human touch. She accepted it much to your relief.
"That was great, Hel" You praised and she beamed in response. You heard Aemond shift next to you but you ignored him, opting to keep focusing on your sister-in-law who began taking sips from her cup.
"Let us have some music!" Viserys weakly announced and soon the room was filled with a soft tune.
You hadn't even realized Jacaerys was heading your way until you felt his presence next to you. You looked up at him and noticed his outstretched hand which was meant for Helaena. He gave you an apologetic smile but you shrugged, encouraging Helaena to accept. She rarely had fun and you wanted her to experience it, even if it was just for a few minutes.
She was surprised but nonetheless accepted, giving you one last smile before standing and following your brother to the dance floor.
Aegon stared at the two before turning to look at Aemond who was already looking back at him, the same look he had earlier on his face. You noticed this and scoffed, now annoyed with your husband’s behavior.
You understood Aemond’s feelings. They were valid and you never made him feel like he was being dramatic about it. You loved your brothers and would die for them, but you knew their actions all those years ago had terrible consequences – consequences that Aemond had to live with for the rest of his life. He was the one who had to wake up and see it on his face every time he looked at himself in the mirror.
But in that moment you just wanted Aemond to forgive, at least for the evening – for you.
You turned to look at your brother and aunt as they jumped around, falling back into their childish antics as they danced to the music. The sight warmed your heart and a part of you itched to join them. Your grandfather had been escorted back to his room during their dance, the pain and exhaustion finally catching up to him.
You were so focused that you hadn’t seen the roasted pig being sat in front of your husband nor had you seen the smirk your little brother Lucerys had thrown his way, finally snapping the little restrain Aemond had.
You jumped as he slammed his fists on the table and once again the conversations around the table ceased. The entire room stilled as they watched Aemond with wary eyes. You were looking at him with concern, not quite understanding what set him off.
“Final tribute,” He announced, cup in the air. His eyes were bored into Lucerys who was staring back blankly. “To the health of my nephews: Jace, Luke, and Joffrey” He eyed the first two, the third not being present. He hadn’t addressed you but you began to grow uncomfortable in your seat. “Each of them handsome, wise…” Aemond trailed off as he tried to fight off the smirk threatening to grow on his lips. You closed your eyes, bracing yourself for what was coming next.
“Strong”
The temperature in the room seemed to drop. Your eyes snapped open as goosebumps broke out on your arms. Your heart rate had picked up as anger and irritation clouded your senses.
“Aemond,” Alicent warned.
You were clutching the material of your dress with a tight grip, willing yourself to calm down. Your husband ignored his mother’s warning and continued.
“Come! Let us drain our cups to these three…” He was savoring the words on his tongue. Enjoying the looks of anger that both of your brothers were throwing at him. He had been so caught up in his chase of revenge that he didn’t notice the state he was in. “Strong boys”
It was your turn to abruptly stand, cheeks on fire. The sound of your chair tilting backward and hitting the floor filled the room and all eyes landed on you. You were shaking, frustrated tears clouded your vision and a scowl decorated your lips. Aemond was taken aback, not quite seeing you like this. You never got angry.
You were looking at him with an expression that filled him with nothing but dread.
“I dare you to say that again” Jacaerys called out, gaining Aemond’s attention again. He hesitated for a second, debating whether he should stop for your sake but he was far too deep now.
"Why? 'Twas only a compliment” He feigned confusion as he stepped away from his seat. “Do you not think yourself Strong?” Aemond asked as Jacaerys stalked toward him, fists clenched at his sides. Lucerys slammed his palms on the table and stood up, running to his older brother’s defense.
The sound of fist meeting skin filled your ears and you watched as Aemond’s head snapped to the side at the impact of your brother’s punch. You then caught sight of Aegon grabbing Lucerys and slamming his head on the table.
Red filled your vision at the sight of Aegon manhandling your baby brother and before you could even register what you were doing, you had a fistful of his silver hair between your fingers, pulling back with all the strength you had. Aegon’s shouts of pain filled your ears but you didn’t let up until he had released Lucerys and you kept pulling backward.
You didn’t care if it was unlady like or disrespectful. Your protective instincts had kicked in the moment he laid hands on your Lucerys.
The adults were up on their feet, shouting at you all to stop. Guards even intervened, holding your twin back as he made a move to reach Aemond again.
You hadn’t even realized you were screaming until both of your sisters had pried you off of your uncle. You were red to the face, thrashing around your sisters’ arms as you attempted to reach Aegon again, who was now cursing and rubbing at the sore spots on his scalp.
You stopped fighting against the hands holding you back as the adrenaline coursing through your bloodstream began to go down. You were breathing heavily, eyes still wild with anger. You heard your mother order your siblings to return to their chambers but you were now staring at Aemond who was staring right back.
A few beats of silence passed as everyone watched the interaction between you two, trying to figure out if they needed to step in, but in the end, you only frowned before storming out of the room.
Tumblr media
You hadn't stepped foot in your shared chambers that night.
You were angry at Aemond and his childish behavior and refused to sleep in the same bed until you cooled off. You didn’t want to say something you would regret in the heat of the moment.
So, you had gotten Laenor from the nursery and made your way to the other side of the castle where your family was currently residing. You found refuge with Baela and Rhaena, who welcomed you with open arms. Rhaena had taken the baby, claiming she hadn’t had her aunt-nephew-bonding moment yet, and you let her with a tired sigh.
Baela gave you a sympathetic look and embraced you before pulling you toward her bed. You noticed the half-full trunks a few feet from their beds and knew it meant they would be leaving tomorrow. You were sad, blaming tonight’s events for their rushed departure. You knew your mother would want to leave as soon as possible and you couldn’t blame her.
At that moment you wanted to go with them, escape the bleak walls of the castle, and return to Dragonstone. But you knew you couldn’t.
Instead, you watched as Rhaena ordered a servant to bring a crib to the room and you accepted the nightgown Baela was presenting to you.
Aemond knew he had messed up.
The look you had given him told him everything. You had never looked at him that way before and it pained him to know that he was the reason for it.
You had stormed out without a single word.
Just a frown on your soft plump lips.
He had stood there after you left, finally realizing what he had done when he caught his uncle, your stepfather, looking at him like he was his next prey.
He quickly averted his gaze and walked out as well, already planning his apology inside his head.
When he reached your shared chambers, he realized none of the guards were on watch which confused him. He quickly braced himself for what was to come but as he stepped in, he was met with silence.
Everything was exactly the same way you both left it before heading to dinner earlier.
Next, he walked toward the nursery, hoping to find you there with your son. But when he arrived he only found the nannies with his niece and nephew.
They had stood and bowed when they spotted him. “Princess [Y/N] came not long ago and took Prince Laenor with her” The oldest of the two nannies informed him nervously, eyes trained on his shoes.
He nodded and left without a word, making his way back to your shared chambers.
He knew right then and there that you were angry at him.
The only reason why he didn’t assume the worst and tore the castle upside down was because he knew you. He knew you wouldn't leave him. Sure, you were angry now but you would forgive him because you loved him and he loved you. He knew you were with your siblings right now, attempting to cool off and get your mind off of things.
That night, Aemond didn’t sleep.
The bed felt empty despite him lying on it, the sheets icy cold. Not even the roaring fire going on at the fireplace was enough to bring him warmth. He had gotten used to sleeping with you, the body heat you radiated was comforting to him. It was too quiet as well. The small breaths you took as you peacefully slept and Laenor's snuffles were what usually lulled him to sleep.
He lay there for hours, staring up at the ceiling as the night’s events replayed in his mind. It felt like an eternity before the sun began making its way back up in the sky and he found the strength to get up.
He needed to find you.
That morning, before the sun even fully rose, you had bid your family goodbye with tears. Your mother had cried as well, holding you tight and kissing your temple, promising she would visit as soon as your sister was born. Your brothers pulled you into a hug themselves, apologizing for last night but you waved it off, telling them that they had done nothing wrong.
Your stepfather, who was holding a swaddled Laenor, leaned down to press a kiss on the top of your head before handing you your baby back. Baela and Laena had promised to write as soon as they arrived. You bid your younger brothers goodbye with kisses to their cheeks and Joffrey had tried pushing you away claiming he was a big boy now. You had laughed and ruffled his hair, earning points from him.
You watched as they piled into the awaiting carriage, waving goodbye one last time until it set off and disappeared into the distance.
You sighed as the silence settled, the guards on watch standing quietly a few feet from you.
You had to face Aemond now, no longer having a safe place to escape to. Laenor wiggled and cooed in your arms and you looked down at him with a small smile.
“Let’s go find your father, byka zaldrīzes” (little dragon)
You found him just as he was making his way out of your shared chambers without Laenor. You had dropped him off at the nursery with your trusted nanny, not wanting him around on whatever was going to transpire between you and your husband. Aemond’s hair was messy and unkempt, the dark bags under his eyes told you he hadn’t slept.
He froze once he saw you, eye widening since he hadn’t expected to find you that fast. You ignored him as you passed him, walking into the room without a word. He wordlessly followed after you like a puppy trailing after his owner.
Your back was facing him as he entered and you busied yourself with finally removing the jewelry you hadn’t bothered taking off last night.
A tense silence permeated the room as you both waited for the other to speak first. You refused to break it, your stubbornness kicking in.
“I’m sorry,” You almost didn’t hear it since he had whispered it but you did.
He sounded like a wounded child, a contrast to the bold and confident man you grew to love.
He waited after he said it, watching you as you continued to remove your jewelry quietly. He took a cautious step forward but immediately stopped when he saw you freeze.
His heart ached at the sight.
“I’m sorry issa jorrāelagon, I shouldn’t have instigated a fight with your brothers. B-but I was just so angry” He began to explain, tone filled with desperation. Begging you to look at him.
Aemond Targaryen never begged but for you, he would carve his heart from his chest if you asked.
“You didn’t see the way Lucerys smirked when the pig was placed in front of me, mocking me” He explained, a dark look cast over his expression as he thought back to the way your younger brother had smirked at him.
You took a breath and finally turned to look at him, eyes glossed over.
“You called me a bastard, Aemond,” You sounded defeated.
He hadn’t said the word exactly but he had hinted at it by calling your brothers Strong. Aemond’s expression fell at your words and he finally walked toward you, grabbing your hands in his.
“N-no” He stuttered out, head shaking frantically.
“Yes,” You responded and he gripped your hands tighter.
“No!” He practically shouted, startling you at the sudden volume. His gaze softened as he caught it and he took a deep breath, willing to calm his erratic heart down. “My speech wasn’t meant for you” Aemond explained, eye searching yours for understanding.
You blinked the tears away and ripped your hands from his. “No, but you insinuated it!” You moved away as he attempted to reach you again. “I’m Jacaerys’ twin sister for God’s sake! Look at me!” You gripped a fistful of your long brown locks and held it up, fresh tears rolling down your cheeks as the dam broke.
Aemond felt helpless as he watched you try to hold back your cries. This had been eating at you all night after dinner and his heart broke at the realization he was the reason for it.
“I’m sorry,” He apologized, voice thick with emotion. He felt like crying himself as he made his way to you and wrapped his arms around you. You tried to push him away but he only held on tighter, still whispering apologies into your hair as you finally let your cries out.
After a few more attempts to push him again and his grip not relenting, you gave up and into his hold. You both remained like that for what seemed hours, you crying and Aemond apologizing.
You forgave him in the end, the love you had for him was too great.

You didn’t realize what was happening until it was too late. You noticed the subtle shift inside the castle’s mood but didn’t dwell much on it – used to it by now. You had stirred awake to a quick kiss being pressed on your cheek and opened your bleary eyes to see Aemond walking out of the room.
Your trusted maid, Ella, had entered a few minutes after with a warm smile, asking if you wanted to break fast in your room. You nodded and stood up, making your way to the crib where a still-sleeping Laenor lay.
You let him be, knowing he needed his rest. Ella came back soon and served you your breakfast which you ate slowly before asking her to bring a bath.
An hour later and still no sign of Aemond, you assumed he had gone to train. You finished clipping the last earring into your ear and made a move to open your door, hoping to ask one of the guards to call one of the nannies.
But the door didn't budge. You pulled harder in confusion before you realized it had been locked from the outside. Panic settled into your stomach and you began to pound on the door, shouting for anyone who could hear you. No one came though, not even Ella.
Laenor had begun to cry now, startled by the ruckus you had just caused. You felt bad but rushed toward the window, pulling it open and looking down in hopes of spotting anyone and calling for help.
You saw the crowd of Lords and their wives being rushed through the halls and even more panic filled you.
You picked a still crying Laenor up and sat on the edge of your bed, rocking him back and forth to try and calm him. Your mind began to race as you tried to figure out what was possibly happening. You thought of your ill grandfather and your heart dropped.
Something was happening and it wasn’t good.
You didn’t see Aemond that day. In fact, you hadn’t seen anyone at all.
You had heard Ella’s voice from the other side of the door twice, arguing with the morning and night guards guarding your chambers that she was your trusted maid and needed to serve you.
They all ignored and sent her away both times, only opening the door to settle the tray full of your lunch and dinner on the ground.
You didn’t bother fighting your way out. You had Laenor to think about, who you had rocked back to sleep after you breastfed him.
You paced around the room for hours and looked out the window various times to try and catch a glimpse of whatever was going on, but nothing told you of the specifics occurring.
You didn’t even realize you had fallen asleep until Aemond woke you up the next day, a grave expression on his face.
You practically jumped out of your skin as he touched your cheek, slumber no longer in you.
“What’s going on?” You cut straight to the point, not in the mood for lies. Aemond sighed and pulled the bottom of his lips between his teeth. “Don’t you dare lie to me, Aemond” You practically hissed, catching him off-guard.
You were tired. You had been locked inside of that room for an entire day. Being treated like a prisoner and not like the princess you were.
“My father is dead,” He finally revealed and your breath hitched. You had assumed so but hearing the words out loud just made it more real. “He wished for Aegon to ascend him” He added and you froze.
No.
“No,” You blurted out, eyes wide.
“No!” You denied, pushing him away when he tried to reach you. “My Mother, Rhaenyra Targaryen, is the true heir of the iron throne. My grandfather willed it so!” You shouted, momentarily forgetting Laenor was still sleeping a few feet away.
Thankfully he didn’t wake.
Aemond scoffed at your words. “It was my father’s last wish before he died, my mother said so”
You laughed, dry and humorless. “She’s a liar! Don’t you see that?” You wanted to rip your hair out and scream at him until he woke up from whatever spell his mother had him under. You knew Alicent didn’t like your mother but you never expected her to go this far. No doubt, Otto was behind this as well.
Your words didn’t sit right with Aemond whose expression had turned dark. “Don’t you dare call my mother a liar! My father simply realized on his deathbed that Aegon was more fit to rule than that whore of my half-sister!”
You recoiled at his words, feeling like he had just slapped you.
“Get out!” You screamed, not caring if you woke the entire castle. Aemond finally realized what he had said and froze. You knew he was going to apologize but you didn’t want to hear it. “Get out, Aemond! I don’t want to see your face!”
Laenor had stirred awake this time, sniffing and small lips trembling as he tried to hold his cries back.
Realizing there was no coming back from this, Aemond did as you asked. He stood by the door before he left, his eye boring into your angry ones.
“Aegon is being crowned later on today. My mother and grandfather insisted you would be there to show unity,” You scoffed at this, cursing at him. He ignored it as he continued. “I’ll tell them you aren’t feeling well. But heed my advice, Wife, you will be made to choose where your loyalties lie. I hope you’re smart enough to choose the right side”
It was a warning.
With that, he left the room, closing the door behind him.
You screamed in frustration, throwing the nearest thing near you — a pillow — toward the door.
You needed to escape.
Salvation came an hour later in the form of your grandmother, Rhaenys, who you had no idea was still in the castle.
She had rushed into your room decked in a cloak, followed by Ser Erryk, face with terribly concealed panic.
“We have to go child,” She urged. You were holding Laenor, who was now calm and babbling up at you. You immediately reached her side and handed her your son. She gave you a confused look which you returned with a weak smile.
“Take him, grandma,” You assured, lip trembling. “I can’t go just yet. I know you will keep him safe until he reaches my mother” You were trying to hold back your tears, eyes never leaving your sweet boy.
Rhaenys shook her head, not quite understanding why you couldn’t go with her. “No, I cannot leave you. Rhaenyra will never forgive me”
You took a deep breath and wiped your wet eyes before cooling your expression. “Tell mother I will reunite with her soon. I still have something I must do”
Rhaenys wanted to argue but Ser Erryk interrupted with a regretful look, informing them that they needed to leave. You nodded to your grandmother, letting her know that it was okay. Finally, she relented and leaned in to press a kiss on your forehead.
She wasn’t the most affectionate person in your youth, you knew she had a hard time accepting you and your brothers as hers unlike her son. But you also knew she cared for you in her own way.
You watched as she finally slipped away, your baby safely tucked in her arms under her cloak.
“I’ll see you soon,” You faintly whispered as the door to your chambers finally closed.
The next few days were a blur. You had heard the whispers from the servants who were allowed to tend to you that Princess Rhaenys and her dragon, the Red Queen, had crashed Aegon’s ceremony toward the end. You had smiled, knowing Laenor was finally safe and out of reach from Aemond’s psychotic family.
No one had asked you where the babe went, the servants that tended to you assumed he was in the nursery and the nannies in the nursery assumed he was with you.
You knew you should’ve left with your grandmother when you had the chance, but you wanted to see Aemond one last time. Ask him to reconsider. A part of you knew you were being foolish. Your husband was loyal to his family, especially his mother. But the other part of you held hope that he would finally wake up and choose you.
Aemond didn’t show up after your last encounter so you had begun to plan your escape. You remembered the stories your mother told you, of the secret passageways hidden inside the royal rooms. You hoped your chambers had them.
Before you could even begin to check, Ella had rushed in, cheeks red and stained with tears. You didn’t know how she got through the guards, she hadn’t been allowed to serve you in what you think was fear from the Greens.
She was your most trusted maid, appointed to you by your mother. She was telling you something in a panic but you couldn’t understand her, the words all jumbled together.
“Ella! Breathe” You grabbed her by the shoulders and watched as she stopped and hiccuped. She took a breath before bursting into more tears.
“Prince Lucerys has been killed,”
Your heart stopped.
“Prince Aemond was the one who killed him”
Your whole world crumbled.
You had never cried as much as you were doing right now.
You were on the ground, your body too weak to stand. Your wails and screams of sorrow filled the entire floor even with the door closed. Ella had been standing a few feet away from you, trying to keep her own cries down.
You couldn’t breathe.
You couldn’t think.
Lucerys. Lucerys. Lucerys.
Oh, my sweet baby brother Luke.
Your heart physically hurt and you began pounding on your chest, hoping the feeling would go away. Ella was calling your name, telling you to stop but you couldn’t hear her as your cries got louder and louder.
Aemond had killed Lucerys.
Your husband had murdered your brother.
Aemond was now a kinslayer.
A part of you died that night. You loved your brothers. You didn’t always agree with the things they did but they were still your brothers. Your blood.
You needed to leave.
You needed to get out.
Out. Out. Out.
You abruptly stopped your cries, standing wobbly to your feet. Ella jumped in surprise at your sudden change in mood. She watched as you began to frantically pull curtains away, pushing at walls and bookcases. She called your name but you ignored her until you finally found what you were looking for.
It was on the wall on the farther side of the room, near the closet. A quiet click filled your ears and you pushed hard before the door gave way and a dark cold hallway filled your line of sight. Ella gasped and you finally turned to look at her.
“We have to go,” You choked out before entering it. You were barefoot but you didn’t care. You needed to get away before anyone came to check on you – before Aemond came.
You knew your loud cries alerted someone and soon enough the Queen or Otto would come knocking.
Ella nodded and quickly grabbed a pair of your shoes before following after you.
You weren’t sure where you were heading but you followed the stairs, Ella behind you, before you finally reached the outside of the castle.
There, you stood for a few seconds contemplating what to do next as she tried to coax you to put your shoes on.
Your face was red and swollen. The urge to cry and scream until your voice gave out was still there but you needed to get out of King's Landing first.
“Your dragon!” Your maid suggested and a lightbulb went off in your head.
Nyx.
You both then rushed off in the direction of the dragon pit, trying your best to not bump into the few civilians walking about. The entrance of the pit wasn’t heavily guarded and you mentally thanked the gods before you rushed inside.
The guards that were around immediately spotted you and made a move to stop you but you sidestepped them, Ella jumping in to hold them back. “Go! I’ll hold them off!” She had shouted behind you and your heart clenched at the thought of leaving her. But you knew you couldn’t help her without your dragon so you ran as fast as you could down the slope and into the cave where your boy was in.
You had immediately spotted him when you stepped inside. He was a gorgeous black dragon, hence the name you had given him. He was about Vermax’s size, having hatched at the same time Jace’s dragon did. Nyx had been sleeping but woke up in your presence. Chirps of happiness escaped him as he stood, stalking toward you with his wide yellow eyes on your form. You teared up, having missed him.
You rarely rode him after giving birth to Laenor and considering you had been locked up for the last few days, you hadn’t had the chance to see him.
You reached up to caress his snout and he sniffed you, chest rumbling with a growl once he smelled the sadness on you. He was becoming angry and protective over his rider and you quickly shushed him.
“We have to go, boy, there’s no time” You spoke to him in High Valyrian, reaching to remove the chains from him. He understood and lowered himself so you could climb on the saddle on his back.
Soon he was walking out of the cave, your fingers gripping the handles tightly.
The sight that met you when you finally emerged drained all the blood from your face.
Ella was sprawled on the ground unconscious. You wanted nothing more than to climb down and pull her up but your saddle only sat one person. The guards were staring right at you, weapons in the air though they were scared as Nyx growled at them in warning.
You could hear Otto’s and Alicent’s distant shouts coming from nearby, barking out orders you couldn’t quite make out.
And then you heard a third.
Aemond.
Your heart clenched at the sound of his voice and the tears resurfaced once again.
He killed Lucerys.
With one last look to your maid, you prayed she wasn’t dead and would get out of this alive.
You signaled for Nyx to begin moving and he roared at the guards in front of you. They all cowered back just as Aemond, followed by Otto and Alicent, had stepped into the pit.
Your red-rimmed eyes met his for a second before you shouted, “Sōvēs Nyx!” (fly nyx)
You shivered as the cold air nipped at your exposed skin. You weren’t properly dressed for a ride, still in your nightgown.
Nyx was flying in the direction of Dragonstone and soon enough you would be home. You would be reunited with your baby and while you were being hugged by your mother, Lucerys would jump out and yell surprise! You would find out this was all one big cruel joke that everyone but you were in.
But you knew that was just your denial talking.
Suddenly, you heard a roar and you straightened up, eyes scanning your surroundings. Nyx was alert, his beady yellow eyes turned to slits.
You knew who it was before you saw him.
“[Y/N]!” Aemond shouted behind you. Vhagar’s huge frame and shark teeth sent a shiver of fear down your spine. You commanded Nyx to fly faster and soon you were both in a chase. He kept shouting your name, pleading for you to stop but you didn’t listen.
You didn’t want to listen to him. He couldn’t apologize his way out of this one. He had killed your little brother, murdered him in cold blood.
You didn’t know how he did it and you didn’t want to know.
You feared if you knew you would turn around and end his life yourself.
Vhagar was gaining speed and soon enough she was almost next to you and your dragon.
“[Y/N]! Please! Listen to me!” Aemond shouted, hair flying back. You clenched your teeth as anger, grief, and sadness surged through you. “ÑUHO GLAESO HŪRUS, PLEASE LOOK AT ME!” (moon of my life)
Your head snapped in his direction, eyes blazing. “Don’t call me that! You lost the privilege the moment you murdered my brother!” You shouted at him. Nyx let out another roar as he felt the pain you were currently in through the bond.
“It was an accident!” He defended himself and your anger flared. You wanted to jump off Nyx and strangle him. Hit him until blood flooded his mouth and he wasn’t able to speak.
An accident?
He had killed your brother and was acting like he had simply tripped him.
You knew he hated them but you didn’t think it would reach the point of actual murder.
“I hate you! I wish I had never married you at all!” You shouted at him, tears cascading down your face.
I wish you were dead, you thought to yourself and immediately regretted it.
You didn’t actually mean it but at that moment you didn’t care. You wanted him to hurt the same way you were at that moment.
You didn’t realize Nyx had turned, jaws open and ready to attack until it was too late. In the heat of the moment, overwhelmed with your anger and thirst for revenge, your loyal dragon had decided to enact it for you.
Vhagar screeched at Nyx’s approach and you pulled at the reins, hoping to force your dragon away from the old and much bigger dragon. “NO!” You shouted, fear and panic in your voice.
Aemond was shouting at Vhagar, commanding her to stand down, but the war dragon wasn’t listening. His heart was beating out of his chest, a wave of deja vu hitting him as he watched as Vhagar’s teeth clamped on the side of Nyx’s neck.
“Vhagar, stand down!” Aemond screamed again and this time the old dragon listened. She let go but the damage was done. Nyx was losing too much blood, the smell of iron filled your nose, and blood sprayed from the wound, drenching you in the process.
Nyx was getting weaker as more and more blood poured from the open wound and you knew he wasn’t going to make it.
Aemond watched in horror as your dragon began to fall, with you still on the saddle. You were staring up at him, your own eyes wide.
You knew this was it.
This was the end.
This was how you would die.
You were falling, fast, and there was nothing you could do.
Even if you jumped off now, you would still be falling into the Stranger’s arms. The impact from the sea would carry you to it.
You thought of your mother. Your poor mother who already lost a son, who would now lose a daughter.
You thought of Jacaerys, who on top of losing a brother, would lose his other half.
You thought of Laenor, who would grow up without a mother, only stories of you to comfort him.
You thought of your other siblings, who would have to weep and mourn another of their kin.
“[Y/N]!” Aemond screamed, commanding Vhagar to swoop down and follow. He wanted to reach you, to save you. The older dragon let out a deep roar as she sped up and Aemond reached his hand out for you to grasp.
“Hold my hand!” He shouted, hoping you would untie your restraints and come back to safety with him.
But it was too late.
I love you, you mouthed up at him and his face contorted. A choked sound escaped his lips, a mixture of a shout and a sob, as he watched the water getting closer and closer.
The smell of sea salt invaded your senses and you knew it was coming.
You closed your eyes and welcomed death with open arms.
I’m coming Lucerys.

Christmas in Spain (Carlos Sainz)
First term is over so you go back home to spend Christmas with your family
Note: english is not my first language. Dad!driver always gets me fluffy (and let's pretend it's Christmas season for a bit - it was a bit tricky considering it's sunny and warm outside 😅)
Thank you so much to everyone who likes and reblogs, your feedback is appreciated 🤍 and I'm taking requests so if you have any ideas or concepts you want to share, feel free to do so as I'll try to get to them the best I can!

"I hope you have fun holidays!", you waved to the kids as they got their backpacks and ran out the door, excited for the Christmas break.
Grades would be sent over e-mail and on the school platform and a parent-teacher meeting would happen in January, so for now all you had to do was tidy the classroom a bit so you wouldn't come back to a big mess.
"Do you need help?", one of the cleaning staff asked you as they pushed the cart along the corridor.
"No, I'm fine, thank you though! The classroom is not looking so bad - Mark thought it was funny to do the drawings I asked them to on the table, but I had him clean all of that out and I think we've finally won over that bug that was going around because the bin barely has any tissues!", you cheered like you had just won a championship.
"Just in time for them to go home and spend time with all the extended family and friends and catch some other bug, right?", the older lady joked and you laughed along.
"I tidied this the best I could so this one is hopefully quick for you to clean - thank you", you smiled as you grabbed your bags, making sure nothing important was left behind before leaving the room, "I hope your holidays are nice too, I'll see you in January!".
You got in the car and drove home, hoping to find a small chaos since Carlos said he would get everything ready for you to fly out to spend the holiday time with his family in Spain, volunteering to pick up the kids from school so he could get them ready to travel too.
"Mis amores, I'm home!", you gave them a quick shout before putting your things away in the office, having already packed them in separate bags so you could leave the backpack with the things you didn't need in the office and take only the things you needed already in the backpack you would fly with.
"Mama!", Clara was the first to greet you at the door, letting you pull her up so you could hug her, "I'm all dressed for the flight!", she smiled, twirling around in the tracksuit. Since the flight would arrive late, it would be best to have the kids dressed in comfortable clothes given that they would probably fall asleep and in the event that they would arrive at Carlos' parents already asleep, it wouldn't be too bad if they slept in them.
"I can see that, is papa getting the boys ready?", you kissed her cheek and walked up with her to the boys' bedroom.
Mateo was sitting in the play area, his fingers holding finger puppets while Carlos put Benjamín's sweater on, making you sit down with him.
"Why don't we show mama just how handsome you two look?", your husband said as he allowed him to go to the floor and join his brother in the cuddle you had him on.
"Mama! We're matching!", Benjamín said, leaving a splotchy kiss on your cheek and showing you the sweatshirt and sweatpants set all three kids had. When you spotted the Christmas themed Disney sets, you had to get them. While the boys had the dark blue version, Clara had the pine green one.
"You look really cute, guys! Are they comfy?", you wondered.
"Yes, feels nice, it's not itchy", Mateo offered and his siblings nodded before you pulled yourself up to your feet, Carlos helping you and landing you on his chest.
"Hello, beautiful", he greeted, kissing your lips after what felt like an eternity as he watched you and your kids. He would happily stare at the four of you forever, but a kiss was needed.
"Hey, amor", you spoke, "seems like you did just fine getting these three monkeys ready to go", you smiled.
"Don't be fooled by it - the boys were not happy they had to have a bath since they weren't going to bed yet, so there were some negotiations and some tantrums", Carlos chuckled.
"Mama, did you know we're flying tonight?", Clara asked, big brown eyes looking up at you as she pulled on your pants' leg.
"Yes, I did! We're going to see abuela and abuelo for Christmas!", you agreed, "which means I also have to go and put something comfortable on, pack what's left and then we can head out!", you clapped your hands.
Changing into an appropriate outfit, you put the last minute things in your luggage before heading down, Carlos already buckling the kids in their car seats while you fit the test of the carry-ons on the car boot.
Driving to the airport was a nice challenge since you wanted to keep the kids awake until you boarded the plane to make things easier and not change their sleep routine too much, meaning that you blasted every Bluey album you had, singing along loudly with the three children.
"Why can't I push the trolley?", Mateo asked as Carlos pushed the trolley with all the bags.
"Because it's to heavy for you, buddy - papa will do it and you hold my hands", you assured, stretching them out once your backpack was secured on, "Clara, stay close to papa, okay?", you warned.
It certainly wasn't the first time you were travelling all together - even though you didn't travel to races as much as you did when it was just you, the kids would often be in most of the European races and a few other ones outside of the continent too -, but your stress levels were still the usual.
"Relax, amor, I packed everything we needed, and if by chance something is missing, either my parents or my sisters will have it or we can go to the store and get it", Carlos tranquilized as you sat in the lounge, the kids happily eating some dry cereal from the bowl.
"I know, I think the school stress is still here somehow even though I've left everything ready and done with - I only have those reports to finish on monday", you sighed as your husband rubbed your shoulders.
"You don't have to worry, okay?", he assured, pulling you to rest on his chest until you got the flight call to board.
The flight itself was fine, the kids staying awake without making too much of a mess and entertaining themselves with their sticker books. As soon as you got to the car, though, everyone was out like a light before you left the airport parking zone.
"Welcome back!", Reyes was the first to greet you as Carlos' stopped the car
Putting his finger in front of lips so they wouldn't be too loud, Carlos spoke softly, "they fell asleep right away, if one of you could help us with them, please", he said as his father took Clara in his arms while you and your husband took each of the boys.
"I'll bring your luggage inside, dears", your moment in-law assured as you walked upstairs to the bedroom where the kids would sleep in.
Tucking the kids with some coos and shushes, you were able to come back to the kitchen and be met with some snacky bits Reyes prepared, "have something to eat and drink, I'm sure it will do you good", she smiled as you sat around the table, catching up for a bit before you retired to your respective bedrooms for the night.
.
"This year I decided I wanted to bake our own roscón", Reyes announced as she got the ingredients out of the cupboard, not missing the wide-eyed looks and scoff from her children and her husband, "why is it no one has faith in me to pull it off?", she reasoned.
"Mama - it's just, you've never done it", Ana reasoned as her siblings nodded.
"For you to be able to say you can do something, you have to do something you've never done before", the matriarch offered.
"I believe you can do it, abuela", Clara added, "mama always says that when we want to do something, we have to put our minds to it and work as much as we can for it!".
"See? At least someone thinks I can do it - you can be my sous-chef, cariño", she smiled at her granddaughter, "do you boys want to join us?".
"Abuelo said he has a new toy car that we can play with him and papa outside", Benjamín hugged her legs and Mateo followed and replied with "I know you'll do well, abuela".
"Off you go then - means I also get your mama all to myself because not only does she have a magic finger for baking - and I do need all the help I can get - and I won't have all of you stealing her from me", she giggled, tapping their noses and letting them go outside.
Reyes loved all her children the same, and her daughters were no exception to her love. When she found out her only son was enamoured by someone, she wanted to meet the young woman who had taken her boy's heart. Since then, you always felt included in their family activities and like you were her third daughter.
"How has school been?", she asked as you followed the recipe on the propped up iPad, measuring the ingredients and setting them apart.
"My little ones are finally able to do some independent work, they're confident enough to do it and that gives me more time to prepare different things to do with them - I've been really enjoying teaching this class", you smiled, helping Clara with the eggs to make sure no shells fell in the bowl.
"That's nice to hear - you know, Carlos used to worry a lot about you running yourself too much and overworking, especially now with three kids, so I can't hide the fact that I'm happy that it's becoming easier on you", Reyes stated.
"There are hard days - they will always be even if I work all day or no time at all -, but we've got a routine down with them, Carlos is spending as much time home as he can and so far, there hasn't so been much to worry about", you offered.
After kneading everyhting and waiting for the three hours the recipe recalled, you began decorating it.
"Abuela, does this one look good next to this one?", Clara wondered as she displayed the candied fruits on the dough.
"Yes, amor, it looks very delicious - we can only hope it will taste delicious as well!", Reyes kissed her cheek and mixed the sugar with water before sprinkling the mixture.
.
"Are we ready to start writing our letters?", Carlos Sr clapped his hands before joining the kids at the table, Mateo already holding the glue.
"Yes, we're ready, abuelo! Can you help me with my spelling, please?", Clara asked.
The boys were too young to write, so they chose to draw instead and your daughter still required some help.
"Tres Reyes Magos, my name is Clara Sainz, and this year I have been a good girl. I always did as I was told and I did really well in school too - Do you think that's good, abuelo?", your daughter wondered, wanting to know her grandfather's opinion on the start of her letter.
"That's good, cariño - now, you have to write to them what you'd like to get for a present", your father in-law praised, turning his attention back to the boys' letters, "have you two decided what you're going to ask for?".
"Yes! I want this game here", Mateo said as he showed his drawing.
"I really hope they'll bring me this book", Benjamín showed his best attempt of the cover his grandfather had seen you wrap the night before, smiling at the prospect.
"Let's hope they'll bring you those, then", the oldest Sainz in the room said.
"Are we going to watch the Cabalgata tomorrow?", Mateo asked, "I saw some photos from last year but I don't remember much from them", he admitted.
"Yes, if all goes well - we usually go every year, I don't see why we can't go and watch it again", Carlos Sr smiled.
