creators saying in the behind the episode vid that they wrote diane according to what she'd actually be like as rick's wife, and not according to what morty would imagine her as. this is FANTASTIC to know actually.

she's a woman who can give it back to rick. who can be sarcastic and witty with him. she's intelligent in a way that's independent of being with rick, who finds charm in his nihilistic philosophy. she isn't this perfect obedient housewife. she has grit and drive and opinions that don't match with rick's and that makes her compelling. i am 200% more invested in her character after her added screen time.

what i mean to say is that diane has agency, and i am so fucking relieved about that.

Prickcest Speculation Masterpost

I wanted to gather together all of the little screenshots, gifs and hypothesises surrounding C-137's backstory, particularly in relation to Rick Prime

Comparisons

On the left is the Season 3 Deceptive memory that our Rick used to trick the federation. On the right is the scene from the memory Morty sees when he opens Rick's downloaded brain in season 5. Both are screenshots of C-137's final line before Prime leaves. In S3, C-137 says "A different kind of Rick, I guess" and in S5, we don't know what he's saying

C-137 looks very sad in the S5 memory. Prime's face looks stunned, rather than angry. If they had a previous relationship, we can guess that maybe C-137 is cutting Prime off in this scene or 'breaking up' with him.

On the left is the S3 screenshot and the right is S5. Both show Prime holding the portal gun out to C-137

In the S3 memory, it's shown to be the apparent first time C-137 has seen inter-reality technology like this. When Prime enters at all in this memory, C-137 looks completely shocked. In S5, Rick doesn't look taken off guard or surprised at all. This implies it wasn't the first time he'd seen the technology and the conversation wasn't likely centered around the creation and usage of it. Maybe Prime was offering to take C-137 with him on his travelling of the multiverse.

Left is S3, right is S5. Both are the scene where Prime is walking away.

While not as significant as the other differences, we can see that C-137 doesn't turn to look at Prime while he's leaving in S5. He doesn't need to watch as he walks away because he's seen the portal tech before, or maybe he can't bare to watch him leave.

Lines

Rick Prime talks about not teaming up anymore when talking to hermit Jerry in S6E1. In S6E10, C-137 goes on a rant to Morty about how when you let people in they stop respecting you and "kill your family". It's implied that Prime is the one who dropped the bomb that killed C-137's family, and it's what C-137 himself assumes, so he's clearly talking about Prime. This means that he and Prime definitely knew each other before the inciting incident, otherwise what C-137 says doesn't make sense.

In S6E1, we see a hologram C-137 used to help identify Prime in his search of revenge. We see this small clip matches up with what we see in S3. We do see that Prime says "Ricks don't pass on this", however we dont hear the rest of the conversation, so we don't know if it's actually about accepting portal travel or that it was the first time these two met.

Parallels

We know that it is confirmed that C-137 was in love with Birdperson. We can see from Rick's memory of the Battle of Bloodridge, his argument with Bird Person very clearly parallels his falling out Prime, with both holding out a portal gun and then one leaving through a portal. This could imply there was a romantic or sexual connection between the two of them.

We also see a parallel between Space Beth + Domestic Beth and Rick Prime + C-137. Domestic Beth and Space Beth fall in love with each other. Domestic Beth doesn't do any grand adventures, she's a horse surgeon and has a family, like C-137 did. Space Beth had adventures and travelled the universe, like Prime did.

In Bethic Twinstinct, Space Beth says "You're the housewife, and I'm the space lady, and yet you're the one who chewed me up and spit me out?"

As I mentioned earlier, if we assume based off the body language in the season 5 memory that C-137 was most breaking things off with Prime. So Prime was also 'chewed up and spit out' despite being the epic space adventurer and not the family guy.

Beth also asks C-137 if he's "forgotten the ice cream before" (had relations with another version of himself), and he says "drill me for details when I'm drunker". Which, to me, implies he very much has.

The fact that rickcest was confirmed with this line in the same season we see C-137's "they kill your fucking family" line and Prime's "I don't team up anymore" line seems to be foreshadowing something.

Other Ideas

The "Cult" One

I first heard of this one in this video

Lonny proposes the idea that Prime was in fact going around and giving Ricks portal technology in order to recruit them into joining a group of Ricks. They points to Prime mentioning he specifically MANAGED people ("managing people is such a headache"), which implies a group of people.

They also bring up the wall of Ricks we see in the S5 flashback that C-137 uses to find more Ricks to kill. It may have been Prime's little cult following.

It doesn't explain a lot of the stuff that implies a previous relationship with C-137, so I believe that the two ideas probably go hand in hand.

It's also worth pointing out that the wall of Ricks has what appears to be a citadel symbol. The only thing is, C-137 is apparently one of the founders of the Citadel, but we see him kill a large gathering of Ricks, and we see this citadel symbol pre-citadel.

I am literally only realizing this as I'm writing this post, so I don't have a put together idea of what it may mean. I think it's possible that maybe Evil Morty was involved in that original Rick Cult, because I don't think that symbol became the Citadel's until after he was elected. That's off the top of my head, though.

The "Time Travel" One

This one isn't one with much backing, however I think it's neat. Credit for this one goes to this Tumblr post.

This person suggested that maybe the reason C-137 hates time travel so much is because Prime might've lied and said he was C-137 from the future. He hates it because it was used to manipulate him

Misc.

In S6E10, we briefly see a hologram of Prime that doesn't match with any footage we've seen of him before.

I don't have any clever comments about how this could fit into prickcest as I'm writing, but I would like to include it in case someone else has something to say about it.

My Personal Ideas

My take away from all the evidence I've presented has lead to my current idea of events:

Prime and C-137 had a healthy, romantic relationship. However, with C-137's wife and daughter, guilt started to eat away. He tried to talk to Prime about it and Prime's response was "run away with me and travel the multiverse" and C-137 just couldn't bare the thought of abandoning his family, so he broke things off with Prime. Prime was upset, "Rick's dont pass on" the opportunity to travel the infinite cosmos. "Rick's don't pass on" the opportunity to be with someone they love.

My (very specific) Young Rick Sanchez head-canons :

- Rick was far closer with his mother than his father, especially when he was young. She absolutely adored Rick and only ever wanted her family to be happy, obeying her husband to keep things civil.

- She was the more nurturing and caring of Rick’s parents and also very much fit the traditional housewife archetype. Mrs Sanchez wasn’t super smart (a bit like morty) and was very much a woman that enjoyed simple pleasures. She was caring and affectionate, but also didn’t go against Rick’s father or how he wanted Rick to be raised.

- Rick’s dad didn’t like Rick’s mom giving him so much attention and affection and put a stop to it because he thought it was making Rick too soft. Mr Sanchez wanted his son to be capable and, ahem, manly. Rick was young at the time but probably noticed the sudden cold shoulder from his mother. 

- Though Rick would have grown up somewhat unaware of it, he grew up resenting his mother. He thought she was weak.

- Rick’s dad was a hard-ass and believed in the value of a good character. He worked hard to support his family and didn’t have time for screwing around. He probably started at the very bottom, and through his own hard-work and diligence he succeeded in giving his family a very comfortable, somewhat upper-middle class sort of life. He wasn’t abusive, but a harsh, stoic sort of guy.

- That being said, Rick was spoiled. Like. Really fucking spoiled when he was young. His parents had money and spending it on Rick and supporting his science stuff was definitely commonplace. They both loved him dearly, and did what they thought was best for him.

- Rick’s father is perhaps the parent he inherited more of his intelligence from. His father was handy and very skilled with his hands and building things. It’s perhaps one of the things they shared as father and son. Rick’s dad would take him into the garage and they’d work together.

- Rick’s dad wasn’t the type to show his emotions or deal with nonsense. He was the disciplinarian and was the one that punished Rick when he got out of line. Rick’s dad wasn’t the type to openly express affection towards Rick and never told him he was proud of him. Growing up, Rick felt like his accomplishments were never enough for his father which made Rick even more rebellious and resentful.

- Rick’s mother was the one that struggled with addiction, though it went undiscussed in the house. She was an alcoholic behind closed doors and probably took pills too— all while keeping up the facade of the ideal, 50s housewife.

- The conflict between Rick and his father especially was a massive burden on his mother, especially when Rick was a teen.

- Though Rick was incredibly intelligent and gifted, he most likely didn’t succeed in school for numerous reasons, which didn’t jive well with his father who believed Rick needed to get an education in order to succeed. Rick HATED school.

- Rick’s family went to church every sunday.

- Rick was a really nice kid. A bit like Morty, he was somewhat ditsy and could be spacey. He was constantly preoccupied with ideas and daydreaming. Rick was relatively happy and precocious, of course. As a boy, he was worried about getting into trouble with his father and would try (and fail) to live up to certain standards. Rick struggled to pay attention in school and would often get into trouble because he just couldn’t sit still or follow instructions.

Bonus: The kids in his school liked to bully Rick and he was never popular. Rick was the scrawny ‘weird’ kid, and an easy target. That’s why when he becomes Tiny Rick in season 2, he finds being in highschool so addicting because he finally gets a taste of that validation he was denied all throughout his own school years.

An-And then there's my and Morty's local Grinch, Petal." A snort. "S-She's gonna bring all the booze 'c-cause she fuckin' hates Christmas. T-Too bad for her, b-but good for me."

"W-What will be real fuckin' annoying is tha-that I'll have to put up with M-Morty's goddamn crushes. T-The other Fish isn't too bad, b-but why the fuck did he have to go an-and date his boyfriend's girlfriend too? G-Geez."

"Uh, R-Rick sort of summed up stuff for me too. I-I'm not looking forward to, y-you know, seeing the Ricks being on eggshells b-because of...their Clarissa situation. I-I hope Summer and I can help, w-with Fish too. T-They are both really cool an-and I hope they can have a good day with you, y-you know? A-Also, no matter what Rick says, P-Petal can be fun on Christmas too. I-I mean, her rambling about why s-she doesn't like it, i-it always make me laugh."

His grin widens a little and he glances down, pulling at the hem of his shirt. "B-But what I-I'm really looking forward to is, uh, Christmas with both families, b-because FM and I will spend it together an-and...last year was important, f-for us both. E-Even if not as much as New Year's!" Their anniversary. "Oh, an-and we got to have Meg with us both too this year, an-and I think that will be even nicer! I-I wonder if she'll come over early t-to help our Dads cooking...

"I-I kind of want to invite Bishop over too, s-since, uh, well, he's still learning about human stuff, b-but Rick won't let me. H-He says that if he comes, t-then we'll have all the others crashing our party too. M-Maybe he'll let Fish...the other one, my...friend...come over for a while?" He really hopes so.

"Not much to add to all that, aside that I'm so going to, like, enjoy seeing my grandpas squirming around both Fish and Clarissa. But yeah, Morty is right, I'll also try to make things smoother for the two of them. They are too rad to have a bad Christmas. The Ricks can suck it up."

Her lips quirk in little mischievous smile. "But I'm so gonna sneak out to hang out with Jinx in that one verse. And maybe I'll ask Salomé if her family lets me go over to their house for Christmas this year. Not that I want to go, because it's gonna be, like, awful, but at least she won't have to face it alone."

"No particular plans. I was never one to celebrate the holidays. I have a couple public appearances to make, as President, but for the rest I personally won't organise anything."

A pause. "Aside from meeting up with other me, of course. Us spending these times together is becoming a bit of a tradition." The briefest smile touches his face, but it's quickly gone as he shrugs. "And I guess that if Meg organises one of her dumb parties, I'll attend that too. For a while. She's still avoiding me, so I can't give her the satisfaction of not having to put up with my presence."

"I-In most of the main continuities, I'm with Morty, so I'll do whatever he does. So I assume that I'll spend the holidays with him, other Morty, their pet girl and E-Rick."

"A-As for the other reality, my partner has a liking for festivities, for reasons I don't understand, s-so I'll celebrate with him. It's what pleases him, and I don't mind it anyway. It's fascinating to see him getting all excited about clichéd Christmas traditions."

"F-For how I see it, C-Christmas is just an excuse to get fucked up on eggnog. B-But I guess that the Citadel had some decent shit organised w-with the new President, so...M-Maybe SR can convince me to go out with him an-and Morty. I-I bet the little shit wants to go i-ice skating or to see the stands an-and all that stuff."

"An-And of course I have plans to go and bother the Commander." A sly smirk opens on his face. "I-I fuckin' bet he'll be working, s-so he needs someone to make sure he'll take a little fun break."

"I-It sounds like someone has my Christmas figured out already. B-But that's fine, i-it's what I wanted to do anyway. An-And I want to make sure Morty gets something better t-than AR dragging him around b-because he's too drunk to stay still for a minute. I-I also want to get E-Rick something, b-but...uh. I-I'm not sure if he would like it. I-I'll try and see...before AR goes to see him. I-I don't want to walk in on them. F-Fuck no."

"My bro-bro and I will have Christmas at our house as per usual, but I managed to convince our parents to invite the Grunkles over this year! So it will be one big family reunion!" She claps her hands, clearly excited at the idea. Then, glancing around, she lowers her voice. "And also an real fun Christmas. Mom and Dad never want to do anything special, so it's always so booooring. And I bet that Grunkle Stan and Grunkle Ford will get us better presents!"

"I suppose that it depends on what season of the canon we're considering? Since my Mom's...disappearance, Dad hasn't been big about holidays, so at most I got to do something small with Natalie and my bodyguard. And with Plagg, once we're alone. As for after season 5, well, we'd definitely have something better, with the three of us, Félix and Aunt Amelie. I...I'm really looking forward to it."

He rubs the back of his head. "Also, since I have proper friends and a girlfriend now, I guess I'll have to go shopping for presents, even if...I'm not very good at that. I guess that Félix and I can figure out something together. And Cat Noir has to get something for Ladybug, uh, so that's something I need to do alone."

"Usually, it was just Mom and I. We had a big lunch and exchanged presents, and that was it. This year it's going to be different, as Adrien said. Some Things Will Never Change

Warnings: Rick/Morty smut + sexy lingerie Summary: based on a fanart from @mrs-sundae: Rick V-27 shouldn't really be surprised about anything anymore when coming home to his housewife Morty…but he still does.

Some Things Will Never Change Rick V-27 wasn't thinking much about how his evening would go when he exited the patrol car and bid goodbye to his partner. The police officer expected that it would be just the usual – coming home to his Morty waiting with dinner for him and then some relaxing and cuddling with the boy in front of the TV before they would hop to bed and…have a little more fun. It was almost scary how he had gotten used to this new life after getting together with his grandson. Probably not only that, but life on the Citadel in general. It was just different from his previous life as a scientist, negligent father and asshole-ish grandpa, who tinkered in his daughter's garage and dragged his grandkids on dangerous adventures. If he would be more paranoid, he'd probably suspect that this wasn't real life and he was inside some sort of sitcom – only existing for the entertainment of his audience. He shook his head to get rid of those ridiculous thoughts before he opened the door to his apartment. If his life would be just some sort of TV show, then surely it would have less routine and more exciting things happening other than the occasional gun fight against criminals… Stepping into the kitchen, he prepared himself for the sight of his cute little lover, standing at the stove in his frilly apron and cooking a delicious meal before he would turn around and greet him with a bright smile and a "welcome home, Rick". What greeted him instead was a slightly different sight that made him stop dead in his tracks and heat rush to his cheeks. It was still his little Morty in the kitchen, but instead of standing at the stove, he was on all fours on the floor. His apron was absent – as well as some other clothes – and the brunet wore only cute white stockings with a pink floral pattern and a black garter belt that was adorned with pink ribbons. So, there was nothing that shielded those pale round globes that were facing him and wiggled slightly with each movement as the boy scrubbed the floor. "Wha-what—?" Where and why do they even sell clothes like this on the Citadel?! …even though the answer for the 'why' should be more than obvious… Morty turned around, cheeks flushed in embarrassment, but still smiling. "Oh, welcome home, Rick." "What are you doing? And what's with the outfit?" Rick fought to keep his voice steady, but his face was betraying his current emotions. The teen grinned sheepishly. "I-I've bought something new today and wanted to show you as a surprise after dinner. That's wh-why I've already put in on. But then I accidentally spilled the food all over the floor and on myself when I took the pot from the stove and I had to take my clothes off and clean this up now. I-I'm really sorry, Rick, but I didn't spill everything, so we can still eat dinner." That…actually sounded very much like something that his clumsy little Morty would do. His eyes closed briefly and he inhaled, trying to calm himself down. Sometimes it was hard to tell if the boy was honestly trying or just being accidentally seductive and this was one time where it was actually not on purpose, so he really needed to get it together again. You'd think after all the things he'd done to him, that Rick would have an easier time accomplishing that. Opening his eyes again and looking into the brown irises that stared at him like a puppy that was afraid to be scolded, he sighed. "It's fine. Just stop looking at me like that." Honestly, how could he be angry with him? "Thanks, Rick! I'm done in a minute and then we can eat!" Enthusiastically and without much thought, the boy bent forward again and continued to scrub the floor, his behind wiggling enticingly again and causing another wave of heat to rush to the elder's head…and somewhere else. Figuring that he should probably change out of his uniform in the meantime, he stumbled into the direction of the bedroom, but still entranced, couldn't take his eyes off the boy. "Oh and watch out for the bucket." Morty warned, but heard a splashing sound mid-sentence. He turned around and looked at his grandfather whose foot stood in the aforementioned bucket. Both stared in disbelieve at the now wet appendage for a moment. If this actually was a sitcom, now would be the cue for the audience to laugh. "…I'll just go and take a shower real quick." The elder comment and pulled his soggy foot out of the mopping water again, soap suds still clinging to his soaked pant leg, ignoring the boy's gaze, who was still staring with big eyes at him. 'I better make it a cold one…' He thought as he limped to the bathroom, careful to avoid leaving too many puddles on the way. After cleaning up and changing clothes, the couple was seated at the table and ate. Thankfully, Morty had put some clothes on again, too, so Rick wasn't as distracted by his little lover anymore. "I'm sorry that it's not as much, but there's still dessert, so I guess we'll just have more of that instead." Morty still sounded embarrassed from his mishap when he cleaned the empty plates off the table and went to the fridge to retrieve the sweet treats. Rick's eyes followed him and despite the clothes that the brunet wore, he could still imagine seeing the garter belt underneath it as if he had an x-ray vision. Unwittingly, the thought of Morty as dessert entered his mind and he realized that all hope was lost and his mind was still down the gutter. Still he fought to keep it together and focused on the snacks that the brunet brought to the table. However, his concentration faltered as soon as they were done with dinner and snuggled on the couch. An open bottle of whiskey stood on the table, in close reach and on the screen flickered the Citadel TVs equivalent to America's Got Talent – namely, Citadel's Got Talent. And it was just as bad as the original if not even worse, Rick thought as he absentmindedly watched how a Morty was trying to fart the national anthem while the audience and jury booed and made gagging sounds. His own Morty snuggled closer to him, swinging one leg over his lap as he looked with big eyes up at him. "I'm sorry that I kind of ruined the surprise for you today. B-but if you like…I can show it to you p-properly now…" His cheeks instantly began to light up and Rick suppressed a growl as the now shy boy averted his eyes. It was more than obvious that the last of his self-control was pretty much gone now. And why hold back any longer when Morty was clearly getting into it, too, now? "Show me." He demanded in a low voice that made the teen squirm. Just why did his grandpa always have to sound so sexy when they were doing this? Nonetheless, Morty disentangled himself from the other and stood up to strip off the clothes that he had put on before dinner. He didn't dare to put on a striptease for Rick, but hoped that he was at least able to make it look a little sexy and not completely silly as he took off his shirt and let his pants slide down the soft curves of his body. Unlike before, he had put on a thong (which did not quite match with the rest of the outfit, but that didn't bother the elder in the slightest), but still wore the cute stockings and garter belt. Slowly the teen crawled back onto his grandfather's lap, who couldn't even keep his hands off him for a full second, as he instantly grabbed Morty's hips. Old and worn fingers toyed with the garter belt, running teasingly along the straps – and the warm skin underneath it – moving all over the thighs and the soft material of the stockings before going back up again, to feel around the pink g-string. Morty sighed as he was felt up by the skilled and familiar hands of his grandfather and leaned boldly forward to steal a kiss. This time a growl escaped the old man and he pulled the boy closer by grabbing his ass. While he hungrily kissed the smaller back, his hands massaged the soft round flesh, which in turn made the brunet whimper into his mouth. Patience already no more than a thin thread, Rick didn't feel like wasting much time with foreplay now. The entire evening was already unnecessarily long foreplay to him and he decided that Morty had teased him more than enough. So, he began to fumble with the thong, carefully maneuvering it over the boy's hips until the brunet was forced to break off the kiss and get down from his lap, so he could pull it down all the way. Fortunately, his grandson didn't complain about his eagerness and followed obediently, stepping out of the pink garment before sitting back on the elder's lap again. With a loud groan and some last minimal thrusts, Rick followed him, his seed spilling inside the younger's spasming heat. After the pleasurable waves ebbed, the elder sunk down on his lover, careful not to squish him with his entire weight. As they laid there, trying to catch their breath, Morty tried not to think about the mess that he just made on the couch cushions and that he would have to clean up later. I've seen men talk about the way TV comedies portray fathers as bumbling and incompetent. I think it comes from the conservative Christian viewpoint where men go to work and lead the household while women stay home with the kids, meaning that dads have no idea how to cook or clean or raise their own children.

It's probably not a coincidence that the "dopey dad" stereotype almost always appears in shows where Dad goes to work and Mom stays at home with the kids. Even when the dad clearly has no idea what he's doing, like Homer Simpson, there's still the sense that he's the "man of the house."

And sometimes, the shows portray it as "Oh, Mom's REALLY in charge, she wears the pants around here!", but Dad still gets the final say in everything and Mom has to cook and clean for him like a good housewife.

Anyway, I'm bringing it up here because Rick and Morty is one of few shows that's...not like that. Jerry fits the "dopey dad" stereotype (although tbh, I think it's an act because he stands up for himself when he really wants to), but there's no sense that he's the "man of the house" even though he does jack shit.

Beth actually is the head of that household. She's the provider, and people listen to her, including Jerry. I think that even Rick listens to her to an extent. If she finally got fed up with his bullshit and told him to leave and never come back, I think he'd do it. Whereas if Jerry said that, he'd be like "Nope."
